Omg we came here tonight for our anniversary and it did not disappoint! A seven course Mexican inspired meal that was massive and so tasty! Everyone in the dining room was asking for take away boxes because there was no way in hell you could eat all the food that was served. So worth every penny!

My mother and I had a lovely date night at this restaurant. How it works: each week, this restaurant changes its menu and serves a 7 course meal. Dinner started at 6:00 p.m. and ended at 8:00 p.m. I would suggest arriving about 10 minutes earlier than your table seating time. The process: tickets for this restaurant must be purchased online. It was an easy process using my credit card. After purchasing the tickets, I immediately received my receipt via email. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were already on the guest list. We did not have to show our tickets at the door. The location: I was a bit disappointed with the location of the restaurant, as it's located inside of a hotel (I should have done a little bit more investigating beforehand, as I imagined it would be in an heritage building, or old library...) I believe the restaurant seats about 75 people. It's a nice atmosphere, with a fire place in the center of the restaurant. The food: the quality and taste of the food was very good. However, the portions are very small. This is more of a "tasting" than a full meal. The presentation was lovely. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our table and there was a small glass of champagne. The service: we had excellent service. The process is very organized as they serve everyone the same plate at the same time. How to dress: I would say that this restaurant is more upscale than casual. I would recommend this restaurant to ADULTS that are looking for a nice night out. I do not feel that this is a "child friendly" restaurant.

Recently attended their 7 course weekend tasting menu. Happily welcomed by the host staff and escorted to our table near the fireplace. The servers were quick to bring out each course and clean plates in between. Each course offered a unique palate and every bite was delicious. The portions are relative to a “tasting” menu but I assure you, by course 7 you are fully satiated! Looking forward to attending a future tasting!

We recently dined at Quality Inn “The Library” restaurant followed by comedy show and wanted to share my experience. While there were some positives, there are areas that big need improvement: Food: Unfortunately, the food quality was inconsistent, and my food allergies were disregarded despite informing the venue at the point of purchase and staff. This is concerning and could pose a risk to customers with dietary restrictions. Service: The wait staff was slow and inattentive. It was difficult to get their attention, and my requests were often overlooked including an eye rolling moment. Seating during the comedy event: There was a lack of organization, with guests hoarding tables and making it challenging to find seating. It would be beneficial to have an ushering system or staff assistance to ensure fairness for all patrons. I would not attend again unless you go early and claim your seat with a jacket or something. It would be helpful if the organizers informed ticket purchasers in advance that seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. This would manage expectations and prevent any confusion. I hope the restaurant and organizers takes these concerns into consideration to enhance the overall dining experience. Thank you for your attention

We did the 11-course Titanic Tasting Menu and it was great. Casual fine dining indeed. The ambiance was pretty chill and relaxing by the fireplace. The food was small portions as expected but we thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The servers were quick to serve and clear out plates in between courses. I would compare the tasting menus to Winterlicious or Summerlicious in Toronto minus the parking fee and hefty "tip". I'm happy to drive to Midland for this gem.

We went for a prepaid 7 course dinner before a comedy show. We were sat at 5:15, and our drink order was taken at 5:45, everyone around us had their drinks. Food was okay. Drink refill requests went unanswered three times. We requested our bill at 7:20 to make sure we could make it to the show in the same building at 8. We asked 4 times for our bill, which came at 8:15. The comedy show had already started and there weren t any seats left, and we d prepaid for those tickets. The restaurant will reply to this saying they were busy, but they had 11 wait staff. Not impressed, and of course they add gratuity to the tickets when you book online.

Had a work-Christmas dinner party here in 2023. The gentleman across the table from me received a huge piece of plastic wrap in one of his dishes. Not only that; they under counted the chairs for our party, our dinner arrived late compared to the rest of the restaurant. Which then lead to our specifically reserved tables (for the comedy show after the dinner) being sold out, and they told us there was nothing that they could do about it. This left us standing in a room filled with seated people. Mind you there were originally twenty four of us, as many left due to the unjust treatment of the whole staff working that night. All in all this place is a joke, would not even reccomend this place to my greatest nemesis...because even they deserve better. Its not worth your well earned dollar!!

Wanted to share our experience with the 7 course, Julia Child inspired tasting menu. The food was very good. And while, as expected, the portion sizes are smaller, I prefer this style of dining. We were able to sample several dishes and still feel very satisfied. My only complaint was some of the dishes that were supposed to be served warm were cold. It was still a tasty evening and I would return for another tasting menu.

Although I enjoyed the outing and my company, this meal was unfortunately a disappointing one in my opinion. The meal started with cheese puffs which were anything but puffy, and were cold and soggy... this set the tone for the entire meal. The second course was the potato leak soup which came out with a smell that reminded me of a nursing home... by this point Im feeling like Im at a canteen rather then what i thought would be a fine dinning experience. The third course was a salad lyonnaise topped with a COLD runny poached egg which was weird for me... Runny eggs should be warm and overall was boring. Next we had scallops which were cooked nicely and the sauce was tasty but they were not as described, they were poached and lacking any golden gratin crust as listed in the menu. They were adorable in there miniature size i will say however. Then we had what I can only assume was a pallet cleanser which was suppose to be a lemon and thyme SORBET... it was crushed ice with lemon and way too much thyme ... it was funny to see everyones struggling faces with this one. Now that we had nice cleansed palates, we were greated with a plate that looked like your finest can of dog food poured over lumpy potatoes and a fancy chunk of under cooked carrot on the side that attempted to resuscitate this dying dish.. The taste was incredibly bland once again and lacked even the most basic of seasoning like salt and pepper. Oh how I desperately wanted some salt and pepper! Lastly we had dessert, and I thought surely this would be a treat . Expecting a delicious WARM apple dessert with ice cream, i thought they cant screw that up! Well unfortunately that was also a lunch bag let down. The apple although pretty, was a wet, soggy, cold swirling of apple slivers, with a cold caramel sauce and a melon baller sized scoop of ice cream on the side. I truly was in shock at the quality of the food, the temperature, and the overall feel which was like being at a canteen with the goal of just being fed... nothing special. I love the idea of this place and with better ambiance, decore, timing and some flavorful food, it would be amazing. Perhaps this was just a bad week and I hope that is the case. Unfortunately, I left feeling FILLED with regret and a sore butt from sitting on a firm chair for 3 hours. Update I reached out via email and received a response which was well received. They were polite and appreciative and offered a full refund with the opportunity to come experience it again. They acknowledge that improvements need to be made and that changes will be implemented. The response meant a lot from me as initially I received no response and my post was deleted. I firmly beleive in 2nd chances.

A Culinary Delight for Our Anniversary Celebration My Husband and I had the pleasure of dining at The Library for our anniversary, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted warmly by the staff, who made us feel like honoured guests. We were seated promptly, and our server was attentive without being intrusive. Each dish was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. From the appetizers to the dessert, every bite was a culinary delight. The chefs skill and creativity were evident in every aspect of the meal. One standout dish was the butternut squash soup, which was a harmonious blend of flavours. It was evident that the ingredients were of the highest quality, and each component was expertly prepared. Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was also impeccable. Our glasses were never empty, and the timing of each course was perfect. Our experience at The Library exceeded all expectations. It was a perfect blend of delicious food, impeccable service, and warm ambiance. We left feeling satiated and we cant wait to return.

Went to one of their Tasting Menu nights. 7 course tasting sized (small portions) variety. While each plate is a small serving, you are filled by the end. Some plates were definitely better than others, but there were no bad ones. At $40 per person, you have to take in the Tasting experience to get the value. They have a fair wine selection, and many cocktails and drinks to chose from, not included in the $40. You do start with a small glass of sparkling wine. There was also some nice live music....lounge styling of 60s, 70s and 80s soft rock. Overall, a nice evening out.

We went for the 7 course Greek tasting menu. First time for either of us visiting The Library All but one course was exellant. Very disappointed in the chicken solvaki, very bland like they forgot to put solvaki seasoning on it. Looked liked boiled chicken chunks on a stick. Overall a good experience though. Waitstaff was efficient and attentive. Atmosphere is nice. All the rest of the food was delicious. Despite the chicken we are very willing to come back for another tasting. My Friend is hoping there might be a German menu tasting in the future.

Ive been to The Library Tasting Menu dinners on multiple occasions. The opportunity to try new food preparations is exciting to me, & the price for this style of dinner is extremely reasonable. The setting is adequate & comfortable. The servers are efficient , friendly, relaxed & very helpful. The portions are well-balanced & the meals are satiating. I have a dietary restriction, which is noted on my reservation & I have never been disappointed with my substitution. The Tasting Menu dinner is an opportunity to try new foods & new flavors. My palate may not enjoy every one, but I still appreciate the thought and effort behind each uniquely different course. Kudos to The Library for thinking outside The Box. The reviews and photos lead us to expect more. My understanding is that they used to be in the old library building, which would have been a much nicer atmosphere. They are now in the lobby of the Quality Inn. The cloud of chlorine that greets you upon arrival and the dirty bathrooms on the lower corridor heading to the pool set a low bar. The service was polite but slow. For a casual fine dinning establishment I would have expected much more. Two glasses of wine, one app, and two of the lower cost entries (chicken and pasta) cost $84+tip. The Alfredo was below average at best. The sauce was watery, the noodles over done, and the chicken was one the overdone and tough side. The Chicken Supreme was a bit better, but the menu neglected to mention that it was breaded. Desert was cancelled after ordering it and then waiting 15 min without anyone showing up. About the quality one might expect from a restaurant in Quality Inn lobby, but nowhere near the casual fine dinning establishment the advertise for an evening out.

December 22, 2019

I drive 3 hours/day to work in this community. I often work quite late, thus went to this restaurant on a Thursday night to get a good meal before my long drive home. I have two jobs and a child under 18. I am only 53 and I dont have dementia. The otherwise outstanding waitstaff began to use elderspeak on me, using a sing song voice, simple sentences, baby talk such as inappropriate terms of endearment calling me my dear and dearie; using we in slow simple sentences such as do WE want more wine dearie... I dont know if he wanted more wine, but I didnt finish my wine or my meal. When I told him my name and asked him to call me by name and explained that I still work and function; to his credit he did speak with me as an equal adult. However when I spoke of retiring in approx. 15years time, he did mention the last few days of life... I hope Id still have another 5 or 10 years after the fateful event of retirement LOL....When I stayed at the hotel where the restaurant is located, I did notice some of the (other) clients are people with some grey hair. In fact, a male approx. my age was being served politely, and spoken to with normal sentences as an equal adult, so they cant say that they treat everyone the cruel way I was treated. So for the sake of their business, they might wish to educate their staff not to use elderspeak (esp. not to use it on older women while serving older men as equal people). Elderspeak is basically baby talk for older adults! Im not in a nursing home yet LOL and even if I were, its not right!! Im posting this review to help others be treated better than I was, I wont go back!! (see below) Elderspeak: Babytalk Directed at Older Adults by Karen Austin, ChangingAging Contributor [Editor s Note: Originally posted at The Generation Above Me, posters note: the I in the article is Ms. Austin, not the poster of the review)] About a year after I started volunteering at a skilled nursing home, I observed a set of new teenaged volunteers who came to help with a craft at the monthly meeting of the Red Hat Society. I heard several of the volunteers speak slowly and loudly, using a sing-song voice. In response, I saw many of the residents roll their eyes. Unfortunately, I had flashbacks to when I also first started as a volunteer. I altered my speech inappropriately as well, hoping to be supportive but coming off as patronizing instead. I have since learned to identify the features of elderspeak. More importantly, I ve learned to change my attitude. At its core, elderspeak communicates a condescending attitude. And from that attitude the person s language might demonstrate the following features of elderspeak: Speaking slowly Speaking loudly Using a sing-song voice Inflecting statements to sound like a question Using the pronouns we, us, and our in place of you. : How are we doing today? Using pet names such as sweetheart, dearie, or honey Shortening sentences Simplifying syntax (sentence structure) Simplifying vocabulary Repeating statements or questions Answering questions for the older adult: You would like your lunch now, wouldn t you? In other ways talking for the older adult: You are having a good time on the patio today, I see. And you have your pink sweater on, which you love. Right? Asking people questions that assume role loss, idleness and powerlessness such as Who did you used to be? What did you used to do?

Very surprising experience. The staff is very attentive and responsive. I had the Hearvest salad and Atlantic Salmon, what a wonderful, tasty meal! Definitely going back. Highly recommend a visit. In my opinion, this is one of the best fine dining, casual dress restaurants for many miles!

This place is slightly overrated. It s actually in a hotel. The menu was old fashioned and boring. It was hard to pick something because nothing was really appealing. The dish I ordered was pretty good but, the best part of the menu was the mashed potatoes.

The food was excellent but unfortunately the environment is dark (no windows), the decor is bad quality paintings, and nondescript furniture, but the worst part, the part that will prevent me from coming back in spite of the excellent gastronomy, is the smell. Super strong swimming pool bleech, and heavily scented desinfectant (signature Quality Inn) :-( The waitress worked also very hard although they could have gotten a few more staff to run things smoothly. Excellent work from the Chef Kaitlin Brown.

I cautiously try to choose new meals, sometimes I may be too picky. I must say, the food was excellent and did not disappoint! The whole family was impressed. We passed samples around from each dish, Wow! Just wow! I never would have expected such a delightful, creative and flavourful dishes from a restaurant located in a hotel. Give it an honest try, they wont leave you disappointed.

Even though there were only 10 books stacked almost out of sight on a shelf, this restaurant deserves 2 thumbs way up. Food was super delicious, well-presented and the price was very reasonable. What else could you want-- other than a few more books!

This restaurant is NOT in a historic building, it is located inside the Quality Inn Hotel. It gets zero for ambiance but all was not lost, the food was delicious!

7-Course Christmas Tasting Menu, the best was the Creamy Butternut Squash & Parsnip Soup with Cinnamon Poached Pear. The Shaved Prime Rib Dinner was a bit grisly, the Yorkshire Pudding was ice cold. Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Sautéed Green Beans only got 2 green beans. The rest of the dishes not worth mentioning. The dining room a bit dingy. One waitress complained the these tastings are a lot of work. Over all the best thing about this was the musician. Also ate at the old location. Although we were one of two tables being served, service was slow, and the waitress forgot my wine order and my desert order. Will not be eating here again.

The cevichi and avacado salad would have been better served with a more flavorful marinade, a diced scallop and a ripe avacado. The winter salad with crisp brie had beautiful crisp greens and a lovely savory dressing but the breading on the brie had too much of a resemblance to a fish stick. The escargot was almost spot on! The sauce was only slightly under seasoned and a little more mushroom would have gone a long way. The duck breast was cooked perfectly but even a little sauce would have really made the dish complete . The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly as well but the sauce could have been reduced a little more to fully mature its flavor. The prices are excellent. The service was ok. The food was good but not great.

Casual atmosphere with fine dining quality food. We had the White Pear Sangria very yummy. I had the Library Steak which was melt in your mouth amazing. My husband was very happy with his 2oz Ribeye with twice baked potato. For dessert we shared the fried banana bread with salted caramel sauce, fresh strawberries and vanilla ice cream, so yummy we should have ordered two. Service was a little slow but we didnt mind because we were there to relax and enjoy our time together with great food. Will definitely return.

Honestly, this is the best restaurant I have ever been to. The staff was great, the ambience was great, the food was amazing. Within the scope of our round trip through the eastern parts Canada we came to Midland . This restaurant was recommended by a bank Clerk ... so we tied it out. Very friendly staff, who gave us enough time to translate the menu. Our diner was very yummy - good variety of wine and beer. Appropriate price-performance ratio. Its a pity that we stayed just one day in Midland.

We recently moved to Midland from Merrickville, near Ottawa, and had visitors from that area for the weekend. We started to have fun with Nicole, our server, right from the start. She was amazing as was the food. We would definitely eat there again, but only if we can get Nicole to serve us. Thanks for the fun night and great food. From The Nice People.
