1809 Restaurant in Miramichi

Our waitress took forever to get our coffee, my father had to get up and grab the pot and serve everyone in the restaurant. Our food took over 30 minutes and it was soggy. The place itself was beautiful, and amazing view, maybe if there was more staff it would have been better:)

I went there twice during my stay in Miramichi. Classic restaurant-bar. The atmosphere is good. The decor is charming. Prices are reasonable. The menu is varied. The view of the river is a significant asset. The service is adequate. I liked that my waitress could speak French. My first meal (hamburger) went without a hitch. However, the next day, my order was late (problems in the kitchen) and my meal (club sandwich) was not very hot.

We stopped here on the way through to Monkton as the food looked good. Honestly, slowest and some of the worst service I ve ever received. Autumn was our server, it took her 20 minutes just to greet us after we were sat. We ordered everything at once so that she didn t have to come back numerous times, Our food was easy food (a salad, a sandwich and a poke bowl) and still took over an hour to get out. Our starter salad took half an hour alone to get. No apologies, no offer to refresh our waters or alcoholic beverages. I had to take salt and pepper off another table and chase down someone to get a take out container. Subpar experience at best.

Love good food, sitting on the river. Service was fabulous. I enjoyed the sea food platter, the scallops were perfect.

The view is great but I did not find the food delicious.

Hello, I was at your restaurant last week for lunch, great location with a fantastic view. The restaurant was not busy, only 6 tables with customers and 3 servers. Placed our order and was not asked if we would like anything other than water to drink .ok? So we didn t bother. We waited OVER 45 minutes for our food with no communication from our server, that s unacceptable. Once we got our food, no one checked in to see if all was good .only came by to give our bill. Very mediocre. I come to the restaurant every summer when visiting, the service issues are always the same it s like no one cares to improve.

Glacial slow service. You will be routinely ignored for 25 minutes and have to get off your chair and chase someone to take an order. Food once ordered comes after an eternity (and it s not even busy)and of course it s now cold. Nice decor and great view of the river.

Good experience, we ate on the terrace around 8:30 p.m., after a very hot day facing a beautiful sunset. The service was very good, a smiling young girl, speaking French, which made the exchange easier. The aperitifs took a long time to come, but the rest of the meal went well. The food is ok, we had salmon with rice and vegetables, a Caesar salad, an 1809 burger and a pogo childrens menu. The end of the meal was very quick since it was 10 p.m. and the kitchens were closing... I therefore advise you not to arrive at the table after 8 p.m. if you want to take your time.

Server was the most rude I have ever encountered. Made a group of 10 up and leave. Bartending staff was nice but if your server is Carmen, ask for someone else. Not sure how this person has a job in hospitality to be honest

Food was amazing but service was the worst spent 2 hours if not more waiting on food. I would avoid this place if you don t have all night to wait around in a restaurant. The management needs to consider improving their skills as poor management was evident.

Ugh. As a group of 7 plus a toddler, we really wanted to have a good experience at 1809 unfortunately we didn t. After 40 minutes of waiting for food, we asked a passing waitress what was going on and they replied the food was late because there were so many big groups. In the 40 minutes of waiting our waitress did not state that wait times would be long, and did not offer more coffee/ water. When the food finally arrived 10 minutes later, it came one plate at a time, had extremely small portions for the price, and was missing half the ingredients listed on the menu. Ie: breakfast sandwich didn t come with toppings and there was no fruit provided to any of our breakfasts. I understand that restaurants can be busy, but I also know that the staff should show some respect to their paying customers. It s unfortunate because 1809 is a nice restaurant but based on this experience I can t recommend this restaurant to anybody, especially those with children.

The person at reception was super welcoming.....eggs, potatoes and toast were cold, the only sausage I had on the plate was dry. I received coffee when I arrived but afterwards for service we will come back, the 3 waitresses were more busy chatting at the counter. The sugar packets were already open in the jar so I had to ask for sugar, coffee and milk. I dont recommend it at least for lunch time. But superb seen on the water.

Yolanda was an absolute pleasure! She was very friendly and helpful. She was so kind and took the time to talk to us and get to know us. This was one of our best dining experiences in a while! Thank you Yolanda!

We had a garden salad with extra scallops, a beef sizzler and a steak. Everything was good. The steak very tender, scallops too. Magnificent river view and excellent service

I was looking for a place by the water to enjoy a late lunch and I m so glad we stumbled upon 1809! The seafood chowder is amazing as was the Caesar salad and seafood platter. Hands down the best chowder I ve ever had. Thick and creamy, it will hold your spoon upright! I d definitely come back for the chowder.

Beautiful setting next to the river. The steak was perfect, a good list of cocktails and whiskeys to choose from. The servers made us feel welcome. Overall it was a fantastic meal!

Dont drink here, they will watch you drink your wine then call the cops on you when you leave. Not exactly the customer service you hope for

Had dinner with family and although the service was great, a huge shoutout to Yolanda, the food was extremely disappointing. I had the sizzler with chicken and although it was tasty enough, it was swimming in sauce, way too much sauce. Hubby had the roast chicken dinner, he was extremely disappointed with the meal. You must have chosen the smalles chicken EVER. the chicken or should i say the baby chick because that s how small the thigh was that was on his plate, along with 5 small potatoes and 3 carrots all for the amazing price of 29.00. This was absolutely pathetic to serve. Very disappointing. Definitely missed the mark.

Appalling incompetence dressed as fine dining and we sent back half of our under-cooked and ice-cold entrees. Boiled scallops, microwaved broccoli and over-salted linguine? No, thank you. They couldn t even be bothered to serve our overpriced wine in clean glasses. A thoroughly unimpressive experience from start to finish.

Great view of the river. Food was alright too but on the expensive side

Miss this place if you can. We had a reservation at 6. Very busy day, so I feel bad for the wait staff as they seemed stressed and were obviously doing their best. Despite our reservation, we waited ten minutes to be seated. 30 minutes after being seated, we finally flagged someone down to ask for water since no one had come to our table yet. I asked, if we order now, would we be able to get food by 7? They told us no chance. So we said thank you, but well have to leave. We were with our 3 year old son and we cant push his bedtime back that far. Despite having a reservation for 6, we were ignored for 40 minutes and then had to rush suggestive down to get any service. Overall, wasted a bunch of my time and kinda ruined a night for a 3 year old. Same thing happened to the table next to us. We went down the street to Pizza Delight and we were seated immediately and promptly served - you know, the basics.

First off I would like to say/clarify that the service this evening with Arrvel the barkeep and Yolanda one of the serving staff were both great they both were impeccable at their job .however the meal was absolutely terrible as well as the attitude of the chef. I ordered a rare steak. It arrived 35 minutes later and was clearly medium to well done. Pictures attached I had one piece and gave the other person in my party a second everyone including staff said it was over cooked. The staff were nice enough to comp but when they told the chef?/ kitchen staff that it wasn t to our liking they said why did you I eat somuch. The comp steak actually took about 55 mins for a rare steak but was much overcooked than the first.again bar staff agreed and were helpful but what do you do after that?? Steak and service from the kitchen was absolutely unacceptable Thank you Jamie!

The food is awesome, and the service is so good. What I received for that price was fabulous. I do recommend here, and I am sure I will come back to try more foods. Food

The atmosphere was beautiful, very up-to-date, the view of the river was so peaceful. My husband and I both had the skillet, the best Ive had. We get our skillets with salsa. The service was ok. My husband asked if they had lunch available (they said yes) but about 5 minutes later they came out and said no. And they werent sure if they took CAA (they dont). It was fantastic and we will be back. Dietary restrictions: They had GF options.

Phenomenal staff, food and atmosphere!! Stayed at the hotel for 3 days with my childs hockey team. We ate practically every meal at the hotel restaurant and the staff took such great care of us and the food was great! Well definitely be back! Thanks for the amazing service!!!

If you ask me which restaurant in Miramichi I choose in 2022, it will be definitely 1809. Today 5 march 2023 i went there with my family and ordered fish soup, fish and ships and the suggested special chicken and ribs! The special wasn t fresh, in fact the chicken started to look brown and the fries were obviously fried 2 to 3 times at least! Then the ribs !! The knife couldn t cut it. Not sure if it was meat or a kind of plastic! I asked the waitress about it, and showed it to her, she said sorry, this might be because it was made 2 days ago (as she said)! For real!! She asked me if i want another dish, i said no, as it will be the same, just plz any replacement of the rib before to eat before driving. She brought me a roll of fish, and at the end when paying i had to pay the price of the special meal (22+tax+tips) + the rest of the order. If i want to eat stones or plastic or garbage next time, i would go anywhere other than this restaurant!

Menu is misleading no fresh seafood. Seafood chowder was cold as it needed to be reheated at 130pm. Fish and chips..forgot the chips and fish was greasy and overcooked..absolutely horrible

The terrace is magnificent, overlooking the river and the bridge! The service was perfect! We loved the heated one and the fish and chips. We will definitely come back!

HORRIBLE DURING PEAK PERIODS waiting more than 2 hours for HORRIBLE and OVERPRICED dishes. As the restaurant was far from our hotel, we hesitated to go inside before being served. After several 20-minute delays, the overworked waitress announced that the chefs couldnt serve us for at least 30 minutes, even though we could see other people had already been served. In the end, we were served at 9pm, even though we arrived at 6pm. The food is overcooked and almost unpalatable. The restaurant, which is supposed to be one of the only gastronomic options in the region, CANNOT handle busy evenings. At least the service is friendly and the view pleasant. French: HORRIBLE DURING CURRENT PERIODS waiting more than 2 hours for disgusting and TOO EXPENSIVE dishes. The restaurant being far from our hotel we hesitated to return before being served. After several delays of 20 minutes, the overwhelmed waitress tells us that the chefs cannot serve us for at least 30 minutes, while we see other people already served. In the end, we were served at 9 p.m. even though we arrived at 6 p.m. The food is overcooked and almost inedible. The restaurant, which is supposed to be one of the only gastronomic options in the region, DOES NOT KNOW how to handle busy evenings. At least the service is rather warm and the view is nice.

We were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary, and the server Yolanda made everything so special for us. Really loved the place and the experience! It was fantastic!! Thank you so much!!

Our server was amazing so 5 stars for her. For the kitchen, none. Way way too long to get our breakfast and it was just ok. The positive reviews tricked us on this one.

We had a delicious brunch on the patio overlooking the water. The eggs Benedict was fantastic and the service was good. Good value / reasonable prices.

Loved the fish and chips, chicken fettuccine alfredo was excellent.

We ordered the seafood chowder cups for the entrées and a green salad with raspberry vinegrettre they were awesome. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and my girlfriend had the fish and chips both were good. The pineapple sauce in the sandwich was a great. We had a awesome meal on the terasse by the water and the service was 5 stars. Highly recommended for lunch

I went to eat there with a friend. We were seated and then a server brings us two glasses of water, i told the server i cant have ice water so i asked for hot water with lemon in it....the server comes back with a glass of luke warm water in the same glass as the cold water was in and tells me there are no lemons Hot water goes in a mug not a glass, and no lemons for a place that serves fish and ceasar salad? Not very good.

It was my husbands birthday, so we wanted a nice meal. There were five tables seated and three servers working, plus a bus boy and bartender. It took 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us after we had been seated, and that was only because we got up and asked. Our table was dirty, and something was spilled on one of our seats. While we were there, we saw two of the other tables go to the bar to ask for service. Once we got our meals, the disappointment continued. We ordered a seafood platter that was shrimp, grilled haddock, and scallops. There were no shrimp on the plate. When we inquired, they said they were out of shrimp. It would have been nice to know before we ordered a $34 meal that they didnt have one of the main ingredients. The haddock was completely dried out. We also ordered an 8 oz strip loin that was 1 cm thick at best. There was what appeared to be a manager on duty, and at no time did she come and talk to us about our concerns. I do not recommend this establishment. Unfortunate, because it could be stellar if it was properly staffed. Pros: The view is nice, and the pre-made garlic mashed potatoes were edible.

Haddock was overcooked, so they put bearnaise sauce on to cover up the fact that it was dry.

The place is awesome. The view is the terrific, at the end of the day the food was one of the best I have ever tasted in Canada we had seafood chowder, and that was super dense and delicious. We also had fish and chips in the tartar and the potatoes were out of this world simple and awesome, my kids had the pasta with meat and they did not enjoy but I guess they were not hungry juices water pop and beer were all good. overall great experience

Our visit to this place was delightful. We arrived past midday. We highly enjoyed the view and the food definitely ranks in our top favorite for the Miramichi area.

The drinks and atmosphere are great! The food is overpriced and not what is depicted on the menu. For what you pay, you should be getting exactly what youre asking for.

Was in for supper. We have not been here in quite some time. The atmosphere was very relaxing. The service was fast and really friendly. Food arrived fast and was hot. Portions were good, and we left satisfied. We were planning our next visit before we left.

Very disappointing. I got the chicken stir fry, and it tasted like all the ingredients were poured out of frozen meal bag you might find at Costco. Plus it was over cooked, the chicken was dry and the veggies were over cooked and mushy. There was an abundance of peppers, and the broccoli was hard to find. The service was also dry, with the waitress seeming like we were a bother to be there.

Nice location, right on the water, nice service. I had a burger and a salad for starters and cocktails for dessert. Salad and cocktails were really good, unfortunately the burger was a bit dry. Hence 4 stars.

Ordered the steak, server returned shortly after to advise that their were no steaks left. They offered the beef tenderloin as an alternative option, but it was more expensive. Once ordered, the food took 75 min to arrive. Excuse given was that there was a large party of 25 in the next room, but I m not sure how that was my problem since we had reservations. 2 stars only because the beef tenderloin was actually pretty good. -3 stars for service.

Horrible atmospheres

First night went there ordered steak they over cooking to mid well not mid rair and took for ever to get . Went back few days later asked for table of 7 staff working was rude said be 20 mins so we ask for her to take our name for table pretty sure she never took our name . Family went there few times over weekend for breakfesr to have to wait over a hour for food . Best bet go somewhere else

Today for the first time at this restaurant and my last very top for the service. No utensils ask the waitress to bring me a fork, I had to ask for a napkin too. And no knife to butter my bread lol. Food ok. One star for service and kindness.

We had a dinner on Aug 2nd. We ordered 1809 burger and it was good.however the service is too SLOW the restaurant is not busy that moment it s just like 5pm and we had our orders on our table at 645pm. We ordered a kid meal for my friend s kid. That was fries and chicken strips, and j chicken is not cooked at all. Good thing we checked it first before giving it to the kid! I really like going there for seafood platter but I m really disappointed on the outcome of their service. Staff at night is way different too from the morning staff I noticed. Good service for morning staff.

We had a wonderful long lazy breakfast on the terrasse outside. It was windy and warm and the staff was kind to continue service out there for our touristy enjoyment. This outdoors terrasse is the best selling point of this venue. Its totally worth it. The breakfast is at a fair price for the quality and the quantity was perfect. The steak and eggs and the eggs Benedict spinach were appreciated most. We shared a nice bottle of wine while enjoying the view of the water. Nathalie was our most gracious host; giving us nice and timely service as well as thinking ahead to bring icy cold water on a hot hot day. Please dont miss this place and give the dedicated staff a chance in these difficult times. We were very happy to find this place, with an amazing view, opened and ready to serve us. Beautiful location, friendly service, food is not worth the visit. Had the pineapple curry stir fry with beef. No pineapple, apparently it s in the sauce, no curry flavour at all. Was a cheap stir fry with mostly onions! Rice was hard and precooked hours prior.

2022: beautiful restaurant with superb view of the Miramichi River. The seafood chowder was delicious, you really tasted the crab, shrimp and scallops. The linguine is a bit bland though. More sauce would have tied it all together, good portion of seafood. Soft carrot cake, you can smell the spices, just the right amount of icing and a hint of caramel. Courteous service.

1809 restaurant is probably the most upscale restaurant you can find in Miramichi so of course someone would expect to have a fine dinner and great service. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary along with our son and we were extremely disapointed. First, we waited about 15 minutes for a hostess to show up at the front. When we were finally seated service was mediocre. We all ordered steak to be cooked medium-well, when the food arrived nearly 45 minutes after ordering 2 of the steak were overcooked (charcoaled) and was very undercooked, The mashed potatoes seemed to come from a box and veggies were basically heated up but not cooked. The waitress was informed of the situation yet didnt bring much attention to it. I would have expected they would offer to do the plates over or offer some type of compensation for the meal and the overall evening, but not here. I paid the bill in full then asked to speak to the manager. She informed me that since the bill was paid at this point she could not change anything but had she known prior she could have done something. Funny how the server didnt mention a customers disatisfaction for 3 meals. The manager then went on to say that she will take my name and number and give it to the hotel manager (since the restaurant is part of the Rodd chain of hotels and resorts) she indicated that he would call me the next day. This is now 4 days later and I still havent heard from the hotel manager (Jim). For a place that is regarded as upscale in a small town, I would think that they would pride themselves of that. I do not recommend this restaurant if youre expecting a nice evening out...you can get better service and food at BP.

Nice view, good food, but extremely long wait and understaffed. Poor waitress asked us if we wanted a serving job cause she had too much on her plate.

The waiters dont know customer service. No smile and even a poor attitude. After ordering our meal, my boy started feeling ill. I advised the bartender to notify the waitress that we were going to take the order to take out, as it had not been there for at least 20 minutes. The bartender was making fun of us and never messaged him. SERIOUSLY WHEN THERE IS AN 8 YEAR OLD CHILD WHO IS SICK YOU SHOULD HAVE EXTRA ATTENTION. Furthermore, I wrote to them on their messenger and they never got back to me. Then, I forgot to mention that when we got to the hotel room, a full meal was missing. So a month later, all the inconvenience and no refund despite the missing meal and all attempts to communicate with the restaurant.

If you are ordering Eggs Benedict you better specify you want poached eggs, otherwise you will get fried eggs! Cold coffee. Very long wait for our breakfast - start to finish 2 hours. The weather was nice but unfortunately our experience was not.

The view over the water is stunning. We had a nice meal and the service was excellent. We stayed at the hotel and were pleased to have such a high quality dine in experience.

Food and ambiance are five star with casual dining

We thought we would avoid all the hassle and work of cooking this year, so we chose the Rodd 1809 restaurant for their Thanksgiving special. The main course turkey dinner was likely one of the worst we have ever had. The main course was lukewarm when it arrived and had hardly any gravy on it. The turkey was not trimmed so it included some gristle with each slice and the portions were small. The gravy seemed like it was out of store packet. The best part of the meal was the carrot soup appetizer. Contrary what their FB adverized, we were limited to one choice of 1 dessert: toffee pudding cake. Also, coffee or tea was not even included. This was very disappointing for a restaurant like this who are charging $37.00 + tax a plate. The toffee pudding cake was average. The only saving grace and added a star to the review was the service. The servers were good and friendly even though I am sure they could sense we were not impressed by the meal. Save your money and either stay home or spend it at a fall church supper if you want a good turkey dinner because you wont find it at 1809.

Amazing breakfast and view

The food was mediocre for what seemed to be a fancy restaurant, the burgers were okay as were the fries, however I got the seafood platter which comes with a piece of fish, 3 scallops and shrimp, mashed potatoes and vegetables. Unfortunately, the highlight was the mashed potatoes. The fish wasnt seasoned, the sauce was bland, and the veggies overcooked. It first came out cold and I could tell it was microwaved when it came back. The mashed potatoes genuinely were quite good, which makes it a disappointment since that quality wasnt shared with the rest of the $34 meal.

Most of the food is very good, the service can be a bit slow, but usually worth the wait. I would say, stay away from the wings....they are from a box and really leave something to be desired.

Picture it, mirimichi 2022, you book at a restaurant for a lovely brunch while on vacation, google reviews look decent so why not. Yeah anyway here we go, booked a reservation, they werent ready, oh it must be great right, not full and waiting on a reservation, wrong. Look around too see this pretentious place isnt even painted correctly, its dirty as well. We have to manoeuvre around dirty dishes and other tables to get to ours, 20 seconds after seating a waitress asks what we would like, I replied we literally just sat down... We will have coffee though, lovely no stirring device and the waitress is off texting, I guess Ill go find my own. Ordered from the menu and it took some time, ran out of coffee, no waitress to be found. We finally get our food and the waitress refills our coffee, no utinsels (off to forage for some myself...again). The meal itself may as well have been hot garbage, anyone who gave this more than one star doesnt have taste buds, this place puts on a good front but the steak was the lowest quality I think Ive seen in a very long time and my scrambled eggs resembled a rubber chew toy. Not once were we asked how our meal was not even when the waitress came at the end and didnt ask if we were finished, just dropped the machine, i suppose with the amount of food that was left she gauged it, but in fairness she wasnt on her phone at the time which was a first, seriously go and get a gas station submarine and save time, frustration and way more money than you should have to spend. Oh the Multi grain toast was delicious and thats what the star is for

Very over priced

The best place to eat in the area, superb scallops and seafood linguine. The prices are a bit high but you get what you pay for. You can t go wrong with their breakfast either, that s a deal! Just added a photo of my breakfast, best dish on the breakfast menu, only $14.

I went there with my wife for dinner and for breakfast. Everthing was amazing. Really good food and great attendents. All vibe was great and about the river view... what a view, specially at a sunset, was fantastic!!

Yesterday i went with my friends. And it was one of the best experience we had. Food was delicious , view was beautiful, and staff was so nice cheerful specially YOLANDA (server) and JAIME (bartender) we are again looking to have that experience soon . Thank you

The best seafood chowder and chicken nachos ever had! Perfect location on the water, awesome waitress Pracil, absolutely nothing to complain about, the perfect dinner!

The view is great on the river but we are still waiting for our dishes (1 and half an hour now, its horrible)!!!! Very bad customer experience :( And finally, the food is very bad. I took a stripoloin medium rare and vegetables plus mushrooms on the side : - the vegetables are not cooked just boiled - the steak is just overcooked - the mushrooms are burnt The burger that one on my children has ordered is worse than McDonalds In conclusion, it should be a bad day for the chef but its a very bad experience for us.Poor waitress who is in the frontline. The management shouldnt take more customers when the kitchen cant follow the orders!!!! Please fire the Chef, meals at the hospitals are better than his.

Expensive but good. Dont have the French toast. Unless you like soup. At least a half a cup of apple. Crumble maple syrup the French toast was swimming in it soggy toast yuck

Terrible experience. No seasoning in the dishes, boiled vegetables, much overcooked meat: have the cooks only tasted their cooking? We had 2 children with us and had to wait 2 hours to get served. I would recommend going there just for a drink and to enjoy the view. The rest has no interest..

Great views of the river, friendly service and good food. I dont give many 5 star reviews but 1809 deserves it. A wonderful experience and we will definitely be coming back.

Atmosphere is great. Cannot beat those views. The restaurant is gorgeous and the staff goes above and beyond. The food is okay. I was expecting more for a place that looks so upscale. Its not bad, Ill definitely be back.
