Had the chicken Katsu and an order of honey fries for sharing. The honey fries are so simple but a great treat! Sweet and salty, and crunchy! Food is great; prepared and cooked well. Service is quick and friendly. Spot is small business, limited seating but definitely a gem. Recommended by a friend for good authentic chicken /pork Katsu. 10/10 would recommend to a friend and return again!

Last week we visited Katsuya, and overall, it was a good experience. The staff were very friendly, which we really appreciated. When we initially got a table by the door, it was quite cold, but they kindly moved us to a more comfortable spot inside before our food arrived. I enjoyed the seafood pancake and the kimchi pork belly—both were delicious! My husband’s dish came with extra cheese by mistake. While I didn’t mind it and thought it tasted good, my husband, who isn’t a fan of cheese, wasn’t too thrilled about it. The restaurant was quite busy and loud, but the lively atmosphere added to the experience. It’s not a quiet spot, but definitely worth a visit!

Katsuya has always been a tasty comfort food to us. We ordered the curry chicken katsu and red spicy carbonara chicken katsu. The service was fast and the food was delicious. The portions are huge which is great. I've been coming here since the year they first opened and I really appreciate how the flavours and ambiance haven't changed. The katsus were cooked well with a nice crunch in every bite. The curry sauce was packed with umami flavours and delicate sweetness to it. The red spicy carbonara was spicy and creamy. Will continue to come back here!

Lunch date with my daughter; arrived too early and they’re not yet open. Had to wait outside at a good French bakery next door. We were the first customer and were instructed to scan the QR code on wall for the menu. I’d appreciate a hard copy menu for easy access. Hot soup was served and water. Food came quickly, I love both dishes I chose. The flavour was mild but not bland. The noodles had a really nice texture that I could say it was made from scratch. The sauce was thick and creamy, while the meat and shrimp were crunchy on the outside but tender inside. Soon seating was getting full and we had to leave. I paid at the counter, the machine imposed 15 %, 18 % …for the tip or can be skipped if you don’t want to. Highly recommended, check it out!

I have visited Katsuya before in different locations, but this is my first time coming to katsuya in Mississauga. Overall it is like any other katsuay you go to there were a few different options regarding in the menu but overall it was still the pretty good same quality that you get from any other location. The overall interior and ambiance was the same and it is a very good spot. If you do want to come try different types of Katsu that they have. The service was taking a bit of a while, but I can understand due to the busyness, but it did take longer than usual. Overall, the quality of the food was very good and the same at any other location of Katsuya and I will be coming here more and more often just because of how competitively priced the food is for the quality that you’re getting.

Came here for dinner a week ago. They start you off with a complimentary soup. They ran out of miso soup so we had udon broth and it was actually really good and had a refreshing light taste. We ordered a few appetizers and my favourite was the Honey Fries (lightly sweetened crispy fries). I wasn’t a big fan of the Cheese Crabmeat Croquette. I wish it was more flavourful. The chicken wings were lightly battered, crispy, and salty. I got the Sweet Chili Chicken with Cheese Katsu. The inside of each piece of meat was filled with hot mozzarella cheese. The sauce was not very spicy. Overall, the dish was very mild tasting. So if you’re not looking for bold flavours and want a high protein meal, you should check out this place.

Went on a Sunday for lunch. Was greeted as soon as we entered and told to sit where ever we would like. Menu is a QR Code found on the table. Ordered Honey Butter Fries, Carbonara Udon and Fish Katsu Carbonara. Love the fries, super crispy and a little sweet. Husband got the Udon and enjoyed it. Fish Katsu was also good as well.

Update: Still excellent food and not bad value since prices rose. Service was excellent, thanks to Dominic. Went in for dinner on a Friday and there was no problem a table for 4 of us. Well be back! Original: Get your deep fried Japanese breaded pork and chicken fix here! These guys do it properly. They focus on one signature menu item with different variations of sauces and knock it out of the park. None of this trying to please everybody business. Only crispy Japanese breaded katsu (usually pork) or chicken thighs and wings with a fantastic array of sauces. The tender pork usually sells out quickly, but I actually prefer the regular pork and dont find it tough. The breading on the katsu is crunchy, delicious and filling. All the sauces are great, but I especially like the Japanese curry. The regular pound of chicken thighs comes with 3 sauces (wasabi, Korean and teriyaki) that are all great, and they lay it on a bed of potato chips. Cool! The garlic versions of the sauces just add fried garlic chips. Theyre different but I wouldnt get them next time. If you havent tried the takoyaki (octopus), you should give that a try too! Eating in you would be able to get refills on soup, coleslaw and 1 x rice, but obviously you dont a 2nd go with takeout. Also shame that its closed for indoor eating, because the interior is really uniquely designed. The order was ready on time and packed well with some assembly required so the food is how it should be, but try to eat it while its still warm and crunchy. Plaza is easy to access even though its on a busy street (Dundas) and you wont have trouble with parking. French bakery is also next door for dessert if you still have room. Vegetarian options: Dont come if youre a vegetarian.

The food is great here but the problem is that the other katsuya locations offer so much more katsu variety compared to this one. I recommend the original authentic Japanese katsu for a first timer. The katsu and its side dishes get served in a box plate that divides each dish separately. You can perform the katsu ritual and grind the toasted sesame seeds. I also recommend the carbonara as well if you prefer something more saucy I would not recommend getting white snow showcased here since the cheese is not really great with the sauce (I did it for experimental purposes) Bring cash if you can since they do offer 10% discount

Excellent atmosphere and dining experience, staff are very friendly and always welcoming. Would highly suggest going around lunch or before 5 for dinner with a large group as they are very popular and get busy around 7-8 and have limited large group (7+) seating but will always accomodate at two different closely seated tables. Dishes Ordered: Tartar Shrimp: Pork Loin Original Katsu Curry: Miso Soup: Cabbage Salad: Variety of Curry Options: Overall Experience: Review: Having heard a great deal about Katsuya, a Japanese restaurant renowned in Mississauga, I was keen to sample their fare. My culinary exploration began with the Tartar Shrimp and ventured into the realm of their Pork Loin Original Katsu Curry. Tartar Shrimp: The shrimp tempura was fried to a golden perfection, boasting a crispy exterior that was immensely satisfying. However, the shrimp themselves felt a touch on the smaller side, and while the accompanying tartar sauce was a novel touch, I found myself longing for the familiar, umami-rich embrace of soy sauce. Thus, my personal preference leans towards traditional pairings, but it was an interesting variation nonetheless. Pork Loin Original Katsu Curry: The star of my meal, this dish was a delightful journey through texture and taste. The pork loin was expertly fried, achieving that elusive balance of crunch and tenderness that makes for perfect katsu. The curry, albeit sweeter than my usual preference for a spicier kick, was still enjoyable and complemented the katsu beautifully. Its worth noting that Katsuya offers a vast array of curry options, allowing for a tailored dining experience that can cater to various tastes. Miso Soup: A simple yet profoundly comforting dish, the miso soup was a highlight. Its savory depth was the perfect palate cleanser, embodying the essence of traditional Japanese cuisine. Cabbage Salad: Accompanying the curry was a cabbage salad, which, admittedly, did not align with my personal tastes. However, this is purely subjective, and others might find it to be a refreshing component of the meal. Overall Experience: Katsuya presents an extensive menu, particularly in the realm of curries, providing ample opportunity for customization. The quality of the dishes speaks to the skill and authenticity Katsuya strives for. While I had my preferences and reservations about certain aspects, the overall dining experience was positive, making Katsuya a worthy contender for those in pursuit of Japanese cuisine in Mississauga. Whether youre a fan of sweet or spicy, theres something here for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Went two days in a row from deciding where to bring my parents (to impress them ) and it did not disappoint! Consistent food and service, even between different locations (used to go primarily to the downtown location). Tried a variety of curry katsus and the karaage which were perfectly crispy, while the teoppoki and the carbonara udon were deliciously chewy. The sauces were very flavourful and complemented by the crispy pickled radish, ginger and balanced by the plainer cabbage and rice. There is a good amount of food in each order, and many of the katsus can be customized with pork, chicken, fish, cheese, or sweet potato for different preferences or dietary needs. One thing I noted when I clarified at cash out afterwards was that you CAN order supreme sauce which was listed on the menu as being for North York, DT, and Yorkdale only. Perhaps they can update that on their menu... Otherwise, this is a place that specialises in a small menu and does it very well. A neighborhood gem

In our quest for fusion dining options in Mississauga, we stumbled upon this gem after being drawn in by enticing Google images. Despite its unassuming entrance, the interior unfolds into a remarkably spacious and contemporary setting with vibrant decor. The modern ambiance is accentuated by perfect lighting, allowing for a delightful dining experience where you can savor both the flavors and the visual appeal of your meal. The staff, marked by their friendliness and politeness, provided excellent recommendations that enhanced our culinary adventure. Our order included the tempura shrimp, croquette cheese lobster balls, boneless fried chicken thigh, and two katsu dishes for the kids. Each dish not only impressed with its delectable sauces but also surprised us with generous portions that proved challenging to finish prompting the use of convenient takeaway containers. This is a popular place for Japanese curry. Meun carries different varities of curry from original Katsu to Japanese curry to chilly and spicy curry. The presentation of dishes is pretty good. Besides, they offer unlimited soup and salad. Worth to give it a try. During the pandemic, they keep the same quality of food and service. You might want to try takeout instead of dine-in, so that saving a lot of waiting time. The only downside is about seating arrangement. They have small tables which are close to each other. The one next to the entrance is the worst as waiting crowds are just next to you.

Ill first start off by stating that the curry katsu is the best, and Id be willing to wager money on that. The food, most importantly, is delicious. For this particular review I had the Curry katsu (obvious favourite, had it many times before) and man, its top tier. The quality of the pork cutlet is tops, the outside breading crunchy and succulent, the curry sauce an explosion of flavours and the sides; the staple white rice, ginger, etc are all great and compliment one another nicely. The service was also impeccable; we were tended to perfectly and when needed, and all around had a fantastic time.

The katsuya is pretty delicious here with huge portions and this restaurant has great service too! They first serve you miso broth which I think was actually udon broth (theres some supply issues due to COVID-19), but honestly I prefer udon broth anyway and it was quite yummy. Here is what we ordered with my ratings: - takoyaki - original chicken Katsu - carbonara chicken Katsu The takoyaki is absolutely delicious and my only minor feedback is that the outside could be a bit more crispy to bring it to 5 stars. The original chicken Katsu was yummy as they blend a variety of vegetables to give it a unique flavour. The carbonara chicken Katsu was okay - I think the sauce wasnt as fresh as the original. Not the best Katsuya restaurant but wasnt too bad!

Food and atmosphere was good. Service was not. When we arrived there were only three other tables with diners who were all already served with food. After the server seated us she never came to get our order to the point that we were confused whether we were supposed to go up to the register to order. After a long time she finally took orders from 2 tables that arrived after us and I thought maybe it was just cause we were further away and she would take our order afterwards. However, even after taking the orders from tables that came after us she didnt take our order until we went up to her at the registrer and asked if we could order. The server was friendly and apologized. I understand people make mistakes but it was still very upsetting to have to wait 45mins from when we arrived to get our food when we were ready to order and could see diners that arrived after us order and get their food first. I am generally a patient person and dont really mind waiting for food to arrive once Ive ordered if the place is busy but its unfair to take orders from tables that arrive later if you havent asked whether the people who arrived first are ready to order.

This used to be my fav place to go. But now I don t crave them as much as it was. It s the service that took stars away, so I m rewriting new review while I m on it. Food s flavour and taste also changed but it s not significant decline nor increase. Food is average-good. But service is horrendous especially when you dine in. No one takes care of you. Either FoH is short staffed or untrained. Food took forever, as well as all the frustration from delivery pick up drivers. Customers who are seated also were getting frustrated for waiting for even cup of water. No servers were paying attention to customer s need, I had to ask multiple times for A and B, so did other tables. Visit them in less busy hours, but 8/10 pretty sure your order be delayed by deliveries will not suggest dine-in especially this kind of incidents happen thrice in a low.

Katsuya confuses me. They give pitiful portions of rice, with no option on the menu to even purchase an extra bowl. They actually charge for green tea. Something that is free at almost every other Japanese or Korean restaurant in the GTA. They gave us each only a singly TINY napkin. Why are you cheaping out on the cheapest items? The food is definitely good. But their take on chicken karage reminds me of someone whos never tried a dish attempting to make it from description alone. Its not bad. But its not like any chicken karage Ive ever had in Japan. KFCs popcorn chicken is a closer kin than Katsuyas take! Katsuyas is better than KFC by miles. Just illustrating the difference. The biggest problem with this visit was with the service. Once our food was delivered, they never came back to check on us. We had to flag someone down to get more water and find out they expected us to go up to the register to pay with nothing to indicate what wed ordered. Even in restaurants where paying at the register is common, they typically bring you the bill before you leave the table. Just an odd experience that didnt improve upon my first impressions of the chain from the Downtown location. Where I left still hungry having paid about $30 for a meal.

Ive gone here a couple times and the staff is always friendly, the wait time varies depending on how busy they are, Ive waited 8 minutes for food and sometimes Ive waited an hour for food. They usually have most things in stock, keep in mind some items on the menu are only available at certain locations.

Terrible customer service. Placed order at 8:27. I get there its not even ready yet. I tell the cashier if its ready. He says oh yeah its ready. Before I pay I tell him that I wanted 2 sodas and he ignores it he doesnt even add it when I pay. Idk if the person that runs the front understands proper English. I pay for the drinks and I wait another 10 mins for my order... Didnt he tell me my order was ready? No it wasnt. Oh and its hella over priced 20 bucks per Katsu? Pretty overpriced... Honestly disappointing last time Im coming here. P.s order said itll be ready by 8:40 didnt get my food til close to 930.

Awesome find for authentic katsu done at a very high level! Not greasy at all, flavourful tender meat, and the sauces (curry and garlic chili versions) were absolutley on-point. Honey butter fries are a must try. Cheese toppoki was also amazing - full of flavour and perfectly cooked. Will be back for sure!!

To start off this detailed review, Ive been coming to this location the last few years and its been a depressing decline each visit. Starting from the so called miso soup shortage although its still provided at other restaurants everywhere else. Todays service was quite annoying with the server bringing the dish, only to say it was for another table and to bring it back after its been infront of another customer for a few minutes under their breath. I then over hear next to our table the server ordered the wrong dish and the customer still took the dish they didnt order and your servers insisted that they were in the wrong. The customer went ahead to eat it anyways. My carbonara dish arrived a few minutes later and the sauce thats supposed to have shrimp, squid, bacon, and vegetables only came with cream sauce and 4 tiny shrimps. Its a sad display of $21.50, a few dollars more can get you a proper dry age steak and great service at the keg. To be clear, the katsu is good but the garnishes are stingy. Its over priced, over hyped and underwhelming. I hope people can read this with confidence knowing there is much better eats elsewhere for less. And for a tad more you can get much better eats with great service. What a sad display this business has become, at the end of all this, I still didnt have the heart to not tip for todays poor performance, it really is more than you all deserve.

Great food, friends staff and great atmosphere. Pretty small restaurant but luckily they had seats. Went with family for my Mom s birthday and it didn t disappoint. We got seated right away, got our menus by scanning the code. Our main dishes and appetizers came right away(except for one). The dish that didn t come they gave to us on the house as they forgot to give it to us which was really nice of them. The Katsu was extremely good, the carbonara sauce tasted very good with the meat and rice. The chicken appetizer was very good and filling. The sauces that came with it was good. My family was very satisfied with the food here.

Katsuya is best enjoyed if youre dining in at the restaurant because the fluffiness of the deep fried skin just doesnt hold up as well if youre ordering this to be delivered to you or even for pick up if youre 5-10 minutes away. If you do plan to order from here for takeout, I strongly recommend double checking that you have everything from your order before leaving. Unfortunately something theyve been consistent about when I order takeout or delivery are missing items - each time I ordered a sauce thats supposed to have garlic chips with it, it was never included. Recently we ordered a White Snow Chili Katsu and it was missing the cheese topping altogether. The foods great, if only I wasnt missing components of it every time... so your best bet is to eat at the restaurant if you want Katsuya!

Excellent katsu, a small portion of solid curry, and some of the worst rice I ve ever been served in a restaurant. Lukewarm and soggy. Delicious. Definitely one of our favourite places to eat in Mississauga. The katsu portion size is good for two of us to split with an appetizer or two. We recommend the original sauce or sweet chilli, takoyaki, and croquettes. The only sauce I dont recommend is the garlic chilli, the fried garlic was overcooked and tastes bitter. Little things have changed over the past couple years, still a reliable spot but not as good as it used to be.

I have been to the Scarborough location 2 years ago and didnt know this location opened in Mississauga as well which is closer to home. It had a nice ambience, greeted right away by the house, clean and quaint space. Ordered the teri mayo pork loin katsu and sweet chilli pork loin with cheese katsu. Both dishes were fairly decent size with a bowl of soup to start with. The pork loin was so good and crispy and went well with the Teri mayo sauce. The sweet chili was saucy and the pork loin with cheese also tasted good. One dish is quite filling. It wasnt busy as we went at 730. There were others, but not crowded or loud. Vegetarian options: Not many options for vegetarians

WOW. I have to say this is must try food. For a fuller review, Id say the service is regular. The foods fresh as they cook it right after you order which does add a bit of a wait time but they do give you miso soup (an opener) while you are waiting. The food, such great cuisine. The blend of flavors from the red carbonara sauce and how well the Katsu was fried complimented each other so well. I recommend Katsu to everyone who wants to try something new or if you like good food (which you probably do since youre reading this).

Usually very good, but my recent visit was deeply disappointing. The language barrier with our server, a younger Asian guy, made communication difficult. We requested extra sauce, but the server added a random $7 charge on our bill and a lady brought us a soup bowl of an entirely different sauce called carbo, which was not what we had asked for. It was meant to be a simple request for some wasabi mayo to go with our appetizer of chicken karage. When we tried to address the charge and the incorrect sauce, the servers attitude was quite rude. This experience left a sour taste in our mouths, and we hesitated to even ask for a manager because other diners were lining up to pay. While this restaurant has been good in the past, this recent experience has left us disappointed. I would advise others considering dining here to explore alternative options.

The Curry that its served with us rich and delicious, The bits of onion within it are so flavourful and have really absorbed that Curry seasoning. The Karaage Chicken Thighs are so crunchy and yet the meat is succulent on the interior. The Wasabi aioli they provide you is delicious. (As dine-in customer you get to refill one bowl of rice for free) Staff said okay, no problem, then still packed me one bowl instead of two. People who come here often should know how small the portion is for their rice, its not enough for takeout customers. Now Im hungry and angry -- hangry.

The food was amazing, we had Pork Katsu with Carbonara sauce- which was cooked with seafood and bacon. The pork was juicy and tender, the batter was crunchy and the salad that cane with it was perfectly matched with everything. We also had the Chicken Karaage, juicy and crispy as expected.
