The jerk chicken was not great at all. I like to support small businesses and the atmosphere was terrible. Workers or owners are chilling drinking alcohol outside and smoking marijuana - no professionalism whatsoever. Pretty disappointing and not surprised by the reviews.
Pepper shrimp! Hands down the nicest pepper shrimp in Toronto. Good size, perfectly spicy, I am one happy Guyanese. Would 100% recommend.
I went there one Friday to order some Jerk Chicken and Rice and as I entered the establishment I felt a little out of place since I was the only patron ordering food. It was more of a bar than a restaurant. The food itself is good not great..pretty average. I think it is great that they serve food since somebody might be hungry. Anyway, I would rate them a 3 out of 5 which in my opinion is pretty generous.
I entered this establishment with welcoming staff and patrons. I ordered doubles and while I was waiting I had a drink. The bartender was nice and on point with the drinks. When I received my doubles they were made fresh and I could definitely taste it. I will definitely be returning to this spot cause the staff and atmosphere were welcoming
Owner/ patrons are drunk, menu items/ prices were incorrect, portion was decent but food tasted off. luckily the owner was nice (or drunk) enough to give me a refund without much trouble.
Orderd a jerk chicken with rice&peas, doesn't taste like it at all. Rice was swimming in what they call gravy.
Love the owner - Greta service even for the morning. I live in Thunder Bay - better service I get here then up north in Northern Ontario. Love that they have the news and obviously sports when the games are playing. Yet to try their food. Come one come all. Great spot to come sit with a friend, catch up on life and play a game of pool.
MYSTERY MEAT?!?! Ordered the boneless chicken roti and not really sure what I got. There was some very dry chicken mixed in with some kind of other mystery meat that had a strange texture and weird flavour that I didn’t enjoy... was very put off by the surprise meat! I took about 4 bites and chucked the whole thing in the trash. The curry flavouring was a bit bland but the roti bread itself was good so I give one star for that. The place is a small bar/pool hall with outdated decor and an older male crowd when I was there so I felt pretty out of place and uncomfortable. Not my vibe/scene at all.
Very warm and friendly Parking: Lots of parking spaces Food : 5/5 |
I am not from around here but I drive a garbage truck and stopped here for lunch. I got jerk chicken and rice and it was delicious!!!
Very friendly and the food great and the people are awesome
Doubles are delish
Awful food, day drinkers seem to be the crowd, they talk bad about their competing business (which is much better, they were just closed this day I went)
If there is 0 star, I won t even give a 1 star. Very rude service. Don t waste your money there.
Seems a cozy nice place to have a nice evening with a small crowd of nice people in a friendly environment. I loved it the few times I went there.
Cool vibez just holla at moe he will take care of you mon
Good roti. Friendly service . Papa Moe is always greeting you with a smile
Tiny place
Do not go here! Absolutely disgusting the roti I was given was reheated in the microwave and there was absolutely no flavour...go to Leelas next door much better and actually made fresh. I literally took two bites and had to throw the rest out! Garbage.
Popped in during a Saturday morning for a snack. Lady running the place was super nice and whipped up a chicken curry roti for me. It was hella bomb! I loved the roti!
Good Roti
Going round the area to try Doubles, the meat inside taste good. I asked for it to be spicy, but I dont think it was spicy at all but the meat taste good so I guess thats fine. But I find it greasy. Not bad to try, but 50/50 if given as one of the option to go back and eat there again.
Thought I d try a new place in Sauga. Bad idea. Ordered oxtail/rice. Food was prepared too quickly. Maybe 2 minutes after ordering. Sign that it s definitely not made fresh. Most likely microwaved. Some pieces were cold. Oxtail had no taste. Rice was greasy. Never had greasy rice before...and it wasn t the sauce. Asked for a napkin...gave me an obviously used one. If I ever have a bad experience, I ll let the staff know...unfortunately no one was around to speak to until it was time to pay. So I just paid and left. The Coca Cola was pretty good.
I didnt like this food. Although better than. Leelas but still wouldnt waste my time and money going here. Food was not fresh. I dont care what anyone says. Not fresh. I will definitely make the drive to Oakville for Koris Roti Shop and Burlington for De Hot Shop. They both cook every morning and have actual fresh food daily. Also, they dont water down their food to suit non Trinis. They make actual Trinidad food.
Best boneless goat rotti in my opinion and a Drago Stout on the side >>>>
Like many others I assume, we came for Leelas and arrived past closing so we decided to try it out. Service was...adequate. By no means was the restaurant crowded - we were the only ones there. The cashier seemed a bit put off (slightly) that we were having a bit of trouble deciding what to order. When we tried to pay for beverages in addition to the already-rung in order, we were asked to wait until she began to process our order. She told us the wait would be 10 minutes and that was fine with us so we sat down to wait. The decor is utilitarian - definitely not geared towards an eat-in crowd. The tables were clean and barring some packing or packages on one of the chairs, tidy. The food came relatively quickly. I think it was less than 10 minutes. The portions are large enough to fill your belly - two bone-in jerk chicken meals, one boneless one, a small fried chicken and rice and a large curry goat came to $45 odd dollars which is a reasonable price. The taste of my meal, the boneless jerk chicken, was very bland. The rice was overcooked but flavourless, the sauce was very very sparse. The chicken serving was frugal and over dry. It was more like it has been briefly rubbed than marinated and properly baked in. The coleslaw serving was just over a tablespoon. All in all very mediocre. The problem arose when my daughter gasped after discovering a long black hair baked into her jerk chicken meal (see image). Needless to say that ended dinner. Accidents happen, yes, but this was just the last element of a disappointing meal.
I love the goat roti from this place!!!
Great food... Great service....
Omg. We decided to do a Taste test virsus leelas doubles... I cant even get over how bad these are... definitely microwaved, possible store bought?? To have doubles in your resturant sign and serve this... not even touching on the service... can tell they dont care about their product... dont waste your money, we literally threw these ones out!
My food had brown hair in it when I got it.
One star and only for ice cold beer because it goes horribly downhill from there. Waitress had zero clue about what was available for beverages. We ordered TWO BONELESS jerk chicken dinners . Plates were slapped on the table in front of us. My napkins were GREASY before I even touched them. We repeated BONELESS three times. We received chicken backs. With bones. There was not enough meat on two plates to equal ONE SMALL DINNER never mind two large. Not even a drumstick. Just boney backs. Chicken was luke warm and obviously straight from the microwave. No gravy. Rice was overcooked and oily.. yes oily.. liked they added cooking oil to it before they nuked it in the microwave... And it covered half the plate ( trying to hide the fact there was barely any chicken on the plate) Coleslaw was good but obviously came from a prepared prepackaged container. Both of us came out feeling queasy from the food. Will never darken their door again. Read reviews before trying a new place. Wish we had.. we usually do.
Most amazing Caribbean food you can find in Mississauga. Definitely a ist for every one . Deserves a five star rating.
Food is GREAT!!!! Buy my roti shells only from Reddafire.
Great vibes good people relaxed atmosphere
This is my second time at Papa Moes and while the food is okay, its still no where near the quality and taste of Leelas (located several stores down in the same plaza). The reason for my rating being 2 stars is that I would have given it 3 or 4 stars IF the person taking my order at that location had gotten it correct. I had ordered a Chicken Roti lunch special ($4.50 on Mondays) and I should have clued something was wrong in when they rang it up on the cash register as $4.25. When I got back to my office, I opened the box and I was greeted with a bone chicken curry on rice. While the dish itself isnt horrible by any means, it wasnt what I had ordered.
If I could give it less stars I would. The proprietor became extremely belligerent and rude and with my mother and her friends, to the point where they were afraid for their own safety! We will be filing a complaint with the police, but in the mean time we would warn anyone that the food is not worth the potential danger from the owner himself.
Love the roti, I must stop in every time I visit.
