Landmark Steakhouse in the GTA. Est 1971. Steak and Seafood in a glamorous atmosphere. Luxurious event space. Awarded Best Steak & Best for Group Functions.
Absolutely stunning restaurant with incredible personality and spectacular food! We went here as a group of 4 for an early Christmas celebration, and it was just the spot for it. The decor was beautiful, the service was top notch and the live music really made it feel like Christmas. A big thank you to the singer, her voice and personality were unmatched! As for the food, it was simply excellent. Every dish was so flavorful and unique. I had the onion soup, cocktail shrimp and filet mignon, all very very tasty. I definitely recommend onion soup. I'm a big fan, and this one may have been the best I've ever had.
You can tell this is an older establishment but more or less maintained. Definitely gives more antique, regal vibes. The service was great, very polite friendly and helpful. The food was okay, I felt my steak was a little over done and I ordered medium but the ones that ordered medium rare felt the same. Enjoyed the bread service and baked potatoes with sour cream. The dessert was a little too sweet in my opinion.
La Castille Steakhouse is an excellent choice for a special night out. An elegant ambiance that creates a luxurious and cozy atmosphere, perfect for any occasion. The steaks are perfectly cooked…juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The menu also offers a great variety, and the quality of the dishes is undeniable. While the food and setting are outstanding, the service could be a bit more attentive at times, which is the only reason for four stars instead of five. Still, it’s a fantastic dining experience that’s well worth visiting!
This is a place to come when you are hangry!! The portions are ginormous!! It does take a while for the food to come so DO NOT be tempted to eat all of the bread!! You will regret it when you don't have space for your main because the portions are so generous! It really easy fine dining for a KING from the ambiance to the service, it is a different night out that is not your regular steak house. Can be enjoyed with family and friends or you can have a romantic evening out tucked away in their multilevel ginormous restaurant! The service comes in teams - but everyone works well together and it is truly a pleasure to be part of the overall experience. The house wine is pretty good too if you don't feel like going over the top. Overall, it is an experience that an be enjoyed onsite with plenty of leftovers to be re-enjoyed later. Yes, you will need to take it home!!
Came here this past Saturday evening. The atmosphere was very nice loved the interior. Clean as well. Service was okay. Our server seemed a bit rigid when we asked questions about the appetizers. They made sure our cup was always filled with water but didn't really engage and didn't ask how we were doing until the end when we asked about dessert. Food, well I was expecting more: The first batch of garlic bread I received was stale oddly enough and nearly cut the top of my mouth. The second batch was good though. I had the escargot as an appetizer and found it disappointing - tasteless and came with burnt bread on one side. My partner and I had the Filet Mignon 24 oz steak. Overall, not bad but I was expecting more considering the price and the reviews. The steak was a bit dry and not seasoned very well. Dessert was great! We had the chocolate truffle cake - very delicious! I'm on the fence about returning and giving this restaurant another try.
Ordered the rib eye, and it's just like any other steak house. Comparable to chop / outback. Atmosphere and service is what you are paying for here. The restaurant has a nice ambiance inside. Fyi, they do not give free dessert for birthday celebrations. Overall, it's an ok steakhouse that's a little pricey. Will likely not come back again.
Place was amazing on the inside. Looked like an actual castle outside. Staff was very friendly and polite. Came to the table very often to top up drinks and clear and garbage. Food was huge and plentiful. Although pricey, I’d say it’s worth more than many other places
If you are looking for fine dining , good food and service that makes you feel like royalty , this is the spot. Wine selection is good. Had the t-bone steak, it was well seasoned and cooked perfectly to order. The atmosphere was lively and the interior decor is very classy and the server's are well dressed and equally well mannered.
I don t normally post reviews, however, I really want to mention that the elder server was very rude, ignorant and left me with bad experience.
If you are looking for an exquisite meal with great service and a wonderful ambiance, this is it. Family night or date night you cannot go wrong. The perfect dining experience.
Thanks Nik for the great service. The food here is delicious and probably one of the best steaks I ve had in a long time. The interior is very neat with lots of private areas and different interior settings. They have a nice wine list as well and the cocktails are good too. Ask for Nik s twist on espresso martini. Thank you Faye for the hospitality.
Christmas dinner with the Guys 13 friends gathered around the large table and enjoyed the best food and drink available. The cozy bar is where we started the evening before making our way to the dinner table. Service was excellent, the wine list had more than enough choices to satisfy the sophisticated palates in the group. Lots of laughs and stories in a great atmosphere. This is an annual event and the food is excellent and we keep returning year after year.
Can t get any better. Love it
It deserves whatever consideration they demand.
I love the ambience and food
Amazing experience. The food was excellent. We will be back!
Elegant, Old~World Charm; Intimate Atmosphere! Staff; Service 5 Star! You almost feel like your in another country! Food dishes are Extremely Delicious!!! Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants when I want to Indulge or celebrate with friends & coworkers! High Class!
Its a great place for a steak or prime rib. My prime rib was over done for what I asked (asked for med rare and got med well), still delicious. I rarely send stuff back, Im sure they would have given me another piece without question. Some in our party got lobster with steak, probably not of the highest quality, almost for sure that they are from frozen. Oysters were good. Service is good, good wine selection and cocktails.
I have gone to this place many times , to celebrate my anniversary and also friends get together. One thing that ruined my visit the last time I went to dine with my friends was that before our dinner a woman sat at the table beside us, she had showered with a very cheap perfume, I did not leave because it was disrespectful to my friends, and the restaurant because we had already ordered the food, but the whole section stunk and the restaurant was full, we couldn t get another table. These people should show respect for others, we are there to eat. This will be something that the restaurant should do something about it. I love dining at this restaurant. Very much recommended.
Its our wedding anniversary and .t we want to celebrate in th romantic way.It was beyond our expectations .We loved it.Definitely will be back. Wheelchair accessibility: As per observation it is very accessible. The pavement toward the restaurant is even and the staff will ac comodate the table also.
We haven t been to Le Castile in awhile, I would say it s been two years now, we always loved the ambiance and their food, we went this Saturday Dec 14 and let me tell you! It will be the first and last time they will ever see me again! They must have changed the owners, staff and especially the chef! The food and service was awful, we had a grumpy old man serving us was not friendly at all, took our order like he was running a Greek take out order, the appetizers were cold , raw and nasty we usually order our Conquilles St Jacques, the spinach was blan and cold and bitter, the hollandise sauce was dry and cold, then we had the fried calamari they were smelly, rubbery texture and the colour was a dark brown, either the oil was dirty cause I ve never seen the calamari s that dark, I had the ribs, hardly no meat on the ribs, the sauce was dry and cold, the baked potato was cold it wasn t all dressed they basically threw the butter and cheese on top. Then, my husband ordered a peppercorn steak, ordered well done it was burnt on the outside , dry and bleeding like the animal was still moo ing at you! They vegetables were one of each, portion of vegetables and tasteless! Then the woman came around and asked us if we were ok with the meal and we told her and she never came back to resolve the issue! HONESTLY this place has gone to the toilet after spending over $300 in dinner ! They will never ever see us again and I will be telling my family and friends never to eat there again! Beyond disappointing and disgusting. The also need to renovate the upholstery and the carpets stink of old stale and dirty antique rotten furniture since they built that establishment! Please people think twice if you decide to go there, there are a lot better steak house with modern menus and triple A meats!
Good place to try
Food and ambiance is great. If you like steak and seafood, this is the place to go. Try out the piano bar, youll have a fantastic time!
Yet again, another amazing dinner experience
Amazing atmosphere, service and food! The platters are epic.
Amazing experience and delicious dinner! The pictures don t do the place justice for just how beautiful it is. The steak was perfectly made by the same, original owner who stands each day to create this love of food. I understand the other reviews on service- Nick was amazing and so was his help Maria but the other waiter would ve made it a one time visit if the others didn t pick up the slack. This includes the hostess that was not as welcoming as you d expect. Overall, don t let that get to you because this is an experience you don t want to miss if you re in Toronto looking for a great steakhouse!
Best steakhouse in Mississauga - hidden gem
Amazing building for a great old school steak house, great experience.
This restaurant is usually our spot to celebrate any special occasion. My husband attempted to book dinner reservations for 6 pm tonight for my birthday, and they said it was fully booked and didnt have anything until after 7pm. We had no choice but to rearrange our schedules and make reservations for 5pm . The moment we got there, we were seated to our tables, and our attentive waiters came by to introduce themselves. While eating our appetizers, the staff and manager kept on moving around furniture, setting up a large table. It was extremely annoying and inappropriate to be seated in an area where all this was happening. There were other parts of the restaurant that were vacant. We ordered a bottle and our meals to then encounter a huge crowd of people standing around socializing right in front of our table. I assume the entire area was reserved for this huge party, and we were stuck in the middle of it all without being able to enjoy our meal peacefully. The waiter was wonderful and the food was amazing but the atmosphere was horrible. We were there until 7pm and there were so many tables available. Were they fully booked? Absolutely not. Please know where to seat your customers to avoid all the noise and disruption. The food is amazing but definitely costly. We expect a good ambience
Been here a couple of times and have never been disappointed. Food, service etc. was exceptional. I truly believe all the negative comments are from Karen s and Kevin s who think are special because their mommy said so and they just want to complain for the sake of complaining
My friends and I went there for lunch I wasnt in the steak mood so I ordered the ribs which were tough and not cooked enough and they looked a bit raw near the bone, I tried my friends steak which was delicious, if you go there stick to the steaks everything else is lacking in flavor
I can count the number of times Ive been here on one hand and every time its been an excellent experience! Food quality, the service and atmosphere are always on point! Highly recommend and would definitely return back!
I was there last night and left disappointed. The food is below average for this kind of restaurant. We got calamari and shrimps as appetizer, it was just like a fast food quality food. For main corse I got a steak thal it was literally burned on the surface and raw meat in the middle, I love meat and it was the first time I eate only a very small portion of it. It was a business meeting and didnt want to make any complaints but eating that steak it was like eating charcoal. I got food from Tim Hortons after I left the restaurant. I wont go back even if they offer free food.
Our servers were very welcoming, enthusiastic and attentive. If ever we had a concern/question they were very quick to tend to our needs, with a table of 10 people. Not often do you have 2 servers per table, which made sure that everyone had a memorable experience. I haven t laughed as much as i have thanks to the staff before today, absolutely would recommend to anyone.
This place is amazing. I love the food, the atmosphere, and the service. We went twice and loved it both times. Food
La Castile is top-notch. The atmosphere is classy, the food is excellent, and the service stands out. Faye, the hostess, was incredible she made sure everyone felt welcome and went out of her way to make the night great for every table. The hollandaise sauce was unreal, easily one of the best parts of the meal. Definitely a place worth coming back to.
Normally o don t rate that bad ! On my birthday i asked for a French onion soup because is my favourite food ever!( go figure it !) The soup came with raw onions!tasted disgusting! After that I stoped ordering further food! The waiter was ok nothing like 5 stars Food
A real 0 star dinner. Had a reservation for Saturday evening. Upon entry, the hostess seemed like she didnt want to be there and confused at the time of our reservation. They seated us at the very back of the restaurant with poor lighting. It only got worse from here. The servers are all crusty and rude. Food - ordered a steak and cooked medium-well. What they brought out was cold and medium. Sent it back to the kitchen and by the time they brought it back to the table, my boyfriend was done his meal, after sharing half with me. It was extremely dry and salty. They dont offer any sauces, even after reheating. To make matters worse, when we asked what they do for birthdays, the waiter said I cant just bring you a piece of cake and proceeded to drop off the dessert menu. Waiting for the bill and a different waiter came by with a piece of cake and said sorry for the delay. Once we were done the cake, the bill was dropped off with the card machine and our table was abandoned. Ironically, tips start off at 20%. See picture - this was the cake they gave at the end but did not have anything on the plate referencing Happy birthday. More of a piece of cake to apologize for the horrid experience. This restaurant is not what it used to be, environment is not welcoming and service is appalling. The website said there is a dress code - that didnt appear to be the case. Almost every table had on t-shirts with jeans and either crocs or running shoes. Will not be going back here again, even if they offered a replacement meal. The best part of this experience was leaving and knowing we wont be returning.
The restaurant (physically) and the staff are amazing, the food on the other hand wasnt near my expectation for such a highly rated and well known/seasoned restaurant. Shared a fried calamari and filet mignon for two. Parking: Beautiful restaurant.
Ive been everywhere so please believe me...this is the best steak sandwich Ive ever had!
Great place, with great food, and amazing service!
I was very impressed with this restaurant. Top notch quality. I ordered the halibut. It was cooked perfectly. The Creme Brule cheesecake was on par. Portion sizes were very generous. It was beautifully decorated especially for Christmas! Will definitely be back!
I visited La Castile recently, and while the ambiance was lovely, the service was absolutely terrible. The decor and atmosphere were inviting, and I was excited for what seemed like a promising experience. Unfortunately, the waitstaff completely ruined it. The servers were inattentive, unprofessional and had no knowledge regarding the menu. It took ages for someone to take our order, and when they finally did, they seemed rushed and uninterested. The servers were rude and incompetent. I am astonished that a place with such an amazing reputation when have this issue. Definitely need a new staff with proper service training like other steakhouse s employ. The food was nothing special. I wish I could say it was more but sadly it was mediocre at best. There was nothing that set them apart from other less expensive steakhouses. The only saving graces were my wonderful dinner company and the live singer,Rhonda Silver who was absolutely fantastic and made the night bearable. For the prices they charge service and food should be exceptional. La Castile fooled me once, I won t be fooled again. I will never return to this restaurant unless they seriously improve their staff s attitude, efficiency and improve the foods drastically.
Excellent steak, nothing tastes like the charcoal you get at La Castille. Excellent value for the dollar and great vibe inside. Service staff were excellent as well. Naste Kala!
Celebrated a family milestone there. Was contemplating between a Michelin Star restaurant and these guys. Happy we chose them. Everything was impeccable. A gracious Maître d (owners daughter), trained servers and awesome food. The property is very good looking, we probably got the coziest table on the floor. Pro tip. Book your table, do not hope to get a walk-in. Go through the menu beforehand.
In an attempt to go for a nice birthday dinner with my sister we decided on La Castile, after multiple great family and friend recommendations, we were utterly disappointed. The staff were unwelcoming from the moment we walked into the restaurant, we were seated in the hallway, with a table that was not even set, nor did the hostess attempt to get it set for us. The Lobster Bisque tasted like ocean water and was extremely fishy, the French Onion soup was so salty, both were inedible. The waiter did offer to replace my soup, and we opted for the Shrimp Cocktail, which was really delicious. Our entrees were brought and we got the Chicken Neptune and Steak Neptune, this comes with crab, hollandaise sauce and asparagus. The hollandaise was sour, thick and off tasting, the crab was fishy, chicken and steak were fishy tasting and the asparagus under cooked. The waiter was nice enough, but very unattentive, we had to ask other servers to go get him for us. The manager Faye was what really put the cherry on top of a terrible night. My sister went to go find a manager as again, staff were unattentive, she let Faye know about our awful experience and that this was my birthday dinner, she was met with snarky comments about how other tables in the dining room were happy. Faye did offer to seat us elsewhere in the restaurant and try to make it right if we wanted to order a different dish. After discussion with my sister, both of us had lost our appetites, our waiter brought the cheque, which was $70 for 1 shrimp cocktail, 1 can of coke, and 1 soup we did not eat. On the way home my sister called to follow up with Faye and thank her for removing our meals from the bill, as she was no where to be found when we left. Immediately when my sister got on the phone with her the manager Faye was raising her voice at her about leaving a negative review and that she TRIED to offer to make it right. After scolding my sister on the phone she offered to refund the bill back to us, but did note that maybe this establishment isnt for you. I would not go back to this restaurant even for free, the wait staff, atmosphere and food were beyond disappointing, ive had better food and service at a fast food restaurant.
Another fantastic evening at the best restaurant! Most accommodating and professional staff and management!
It was a great meal, very good portions and flavorful food. The atmosphere was nice and fairly unique in experience. The staff were friendly but a little rushed, not bad but just in a hurry. The drinks were ok, my old fashioned was made with crushed ice, not a big deal but expected options.
warmth place Parking: nice plce Food : 4/5 |
A first-class place. The steak was amazing. But the service was even better. Nick was an awesome guy and took care of us. I love the atmosphere and the food is great
Food was great however if your looking for great service to accompany the food youll be disappointed. We had 3 servers and were pretty much ignored by all 3 of them.
Amazing on all levels!!
Very nice place. Has an old time vibe. The food was very good.
Atmosphere was great! We had 3 different people help at our table. First, it was a lady who took our drink order; then a gentleman brought us bread; then another gentleman took our food order. Who was our actual server? My husband and I both got steaks. Both were way undercooked. No one came by to check on us and was unable to get anyones attention. No need to go again.
The restaurant is one of the most romantic in this city. The food has always been great. We / my husband and I / spent all the birthdays, anniversaries and holidays for many, many years. Now I am alone and rarely leave the house, but whenever I can I spend evening with my friends in this place. There is a special atmosphere, always delicious food and great service .I have to thank the Owners and Employees for keeping the tradition alive ,because only in some European cities does something like this exist.
It took the server 35 min to take our order . We filled up on bread . So when it cane to desert we were to full to order anything for my partner 40 th birthday. Steak was well made but the side of asparagus was only 2 little ones . Over all very nice environment but killed it on the customer service .
For a restaurant with a 4.4 customer score I was disappointed with the service and specially the food. I ordered a beef tenderloin sandwhich and to my surprise it was mostly fat. I removed most of it and the waiter decided to make me another sandwhich, only to find some of pieces I cut back in between my the bread. Also the bread was toasted leaving burned marks and the fries were preheated. The service has gone downhill. Water being spilled on the table when refilling the glasses and also when serving the food, its served on a rush basis that some pieces fly off your plate onto the table. Overall a very disappointing afternoon which I have decided NEVER to return and will NOT recommend this place to any of my friends.
The best steak house in the GTA. I get the prime rib most often, but everything is amazing. Ive been going since the 1970s & if I want to impress someone, this is where we go.
Great steak experience and ending with a chocolate lava cake. The place is like an historian castle. A must visit if you are in town !!
Delicious dishes, very pleasant servers and an exceptional ambiance. Great for special occasions
Love this beautiful restaurant! Ive been going here for years and have always had exceptional service, and the food is outstanding. Best shrimp scampi Ive ever had - consistently!
Tacky restaurant that I went to on a date a few years ago. The service is great, but I wouldnt recommend the food or the atmosphere.
my favourite place to visit when in T.O. alway the best food service and very cool atmosphere
La Castile is renowned for its opulence, old-world charm, and dedication to offering a fine dining experience. As a vegetarian, dining here can initially feel intimidating due to the restaurants emphasis on steaks and seafood, but La Castile proves itself as a place where every guest can feel catered to and satisfied. Ambience Walking into La Castile feels like stepping into a European castle. The grand chandeliers, rich wood paneling, and luxurious furnishings create an atmosphere of timeless sophistication. Soft, live piano music adds to the romantic allure, making it perfect for special occasions or an indulgent evening out. Service From the moment you re greeted at the door, the service is impeccable. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to accommodate dietary preferences or restrictions. When I mentioned I was vegetarian, our server immediately assured me they could adapt their menu or suggest options to suit my needs. Vegetarian Food While the menu prominently features meat and seafood, La Castile offers several vegetarian dishes that are equally impressive in flavor and presentation. Beverage Pairings The wine list is extensive, and the staff is skilled in suggesting pairings to complement your vegetarian choices. I enjoyed a crisp Sauvignon Blanc with my risotto, which elevated the dishs flavors. Overall Experience La Castile delivers a fine dining experience that transcends dietary preferences. While their focus on meats and seafood is apparent, the restaurants commitment to quality and creativity ensures vegetarians are not an afterthought. The few vegetarian options they offer are thoughtfully crafted, flavorful, and worth savoring. If I had one suggestion, it would be to expand their vegetarian offerings, perhaps by incorporating more plant-based proteins or experimenting with global vegetarian cuisines. That said, the overall experience was exceptional. Vegetarian options: They can add more
Lovely, classy decor and ambiance. Servers were attentive. Generous portions and delicious food. We especially enjoyed the steaks. For a fine dining restaurant, I would expect that they shouldnt cram the tables so close together. Our table was on the upper floor. I made the reservation a week before so there was no excuse to seat us in an area that was clearly not meant for four people. Several times we had people hit the back of our chairs as they were essentially positioned in the walkway. There were several empty tables on the lower level so this could have been avoided. Not what I expected from this type of restaurant.
Its always a great dining experience
This is old school dining at its best. The food is outstanding and the service perfect. We never felt rushed, nor waited too long. If youre looking for a spot for a special occasion, this is your place.
No better place to celibrate our 34th wedding anniversary. We really enjoy this place.
Thank you.
Over-priced and pretentious. Much better food and service at Milestones.. for considerably less $$.
Good food, good atmosphere. Servers were kind. Came on a Saturday and the meal in total was 3 and a half hours. We had one appetizer and a few slices of cake for dessert. Perhaps this is normal? An hour between finishing our mains and dessert being served seems crazy to me.
I went to La Castile because a coworker had recommended it. The atmosphere was fantastic but the place could use a little cleaning. There were cobwebs under our chairs and our table was still slightly filthy from previous customer. Youd think fine dining like La Castile would be on top of upkeep. The scallops were amazing, very succulent. The prime rib was average, nothing crazy. The few pieces of veggies they served with it was questionable--very bland and unnecessary. They should consider swapping it out for something else. The baked potato was okay, not sure why they even included this lol. Its just cheap, grocery store bought ready to bake potatoes. I went here with high expectations. Overall, my experience was less than average. However, if youre into high end establishments that serve average food, then sure. This place would be great for you.
Just an amazing old castle atmosphere with an old magnificent grand piano played by a recording artist. Just relax and Live in this back into a time warp for a few hours. A get away at reasonable prices. Yes indulging in liquor costly like anywhere. The bar tenders professional over 20 years each . I have been going there since 1971. This is my break from reality a couple of times a month And they have a mini dance floor and dancing in the isles is encouraged. The furnishings are antiques and there are many cubby holes to hide in. Very private and intimate. You are welcomed by stained glass from the centuries and a real Antique Grand Father priceless clock. Just come and touch and pick up this castle atmosphere Right here in your backyard
Amazing! Steak and vegetables cooked to perfection awesome staff, lots of parking. If you go here you will not be disappointed.
Beautiful for special occasions, it feels like Im in the Titanic.
Ceser salad was 10/10 Fried calamari 8/10 T bone steak 6/10. Some parts were inedible and overly tough and chewy. 6oz filet mignon 6/10 also chewy Personally wouldn t come back not worth the $260 bill for two.
Another Great place, I would post pictures but you really need to check it out yourself. The seafood platter is outstanding!
La Castile = Never Again. I was recently asked to recommend an outstanding Dinning Spot for a friends special occasion. La Castile was the first to come to mind. As Stared in this review the Food, Service & Atmosphere are all 5 star & we are lucky to have such an Establishment in Mississauga. Yet I COULD NOT / WOULD NOT recommend it because of the experience on our Anniversary on July 8.2024 at La Castile. Although the recommendation request was recent, recalling July 8.2024 gave me great regret & I said never again. For Our Anniversary & Major events, My Wife & I order the Land & Sea Platter for 2. It is an extravagance, with an extensive array of Food. To be honest, its so big you get 4 meals from it, as you are always taking some home. Now the shock & problem: Historically this meal cost $190. On the day of our event it went up to $275. An $85 increase. I regret to this day paying that amount, but due to history & the desire to make the day special. I chose unwisely. Yet the Shock wasnt over yet. Like in previous years, we requested the Caesar Salad instead of the Salad offered with the meal. An up charge for the request would have been acceptable. On a meal that was already $275 we got charged $20 for Caesar Salad. Thats the full menu price???? Drinks we have had on previous nights there, have also change. The Strawberry Daiquiris we ordered came in, fluted glasses as small as they could possible be & still be called a DRINK. There was NO taste of Alcohol & they were $15 each???? Compare this to Red Lobsters Giant Daiquiri at $13 or Chucks Drinks at $5. La Castile fails. When the overall Event Cost go up, so therefore does the tip. 15% now adds appx $50 to the Bill. The Waiters were excellent. They shouldnt loss out, but when is it too much. In Summary. Our overall bill came to $430. The most I have ever paid for Dinner for 2. I regret the events of that day. I feel the Owners are trying to quickly recover from the loss of the COVID years on the back of their Loyal Customers. They are out of touch with financial pressures on Retired Couples. One Shock per event I can handle. Considering all the Shocks, I can only put it down to GREED. My Wife & I will no longer be returning to La Castile for our Special Events & I will never again recommend La Castile to any Friends. Instead I will SHARE this review with anyone asking about La Castile! It is time to see what else Mississauga can offer.
Very good place for fine dining !!!
The food was good, not great. At this price point I expected great. The service was ok, but we did have to keep an eye out for our server to get their attention.
Amazing service, great tasting food. Worth every penny. Dietary restrictions: They were quick to assure that my food allergies were looked after. Parking: Plenty of parking Kid-friendliness: Extremely accommodating to the kids. Wheelchair accessibility: It although I didnt need these options, from what I can tell it was accessible.
Always a great evening with friends, colleagues or business partners. Fantastic food, bar and atmosphere
I cant thank the team at La Castile enough for making my brothers surprise birthday dinner an unforgettable experience! From the moment we started planning, Faye went above and beyond to ensure every detail was flawless. We were a group of 23 and not only did she work with us to execute our vision, but she also suggested fantastic ideas that made the night even more special. The staff was in on every detail, and not a single person missed a beat. They were discreet, attentive, and truly committed to making sure the surprise was perfect. My brother was absolutely blown away! The food, ambiance, and service were all top-notch exactly what you d expect from a high-end restaurant like this. If youre looking for a place where you ll feel taken care of and where your special moments will be elevated to something extraordinary, La Castile is the place. A huge thank you to Faye and the whole team!!!!!
Been coming to this fantastic restaurant with my family for years now. It has become my favourite restaurant here in the GTA. Outstanding food, incredible service & an amazing atmosphere! Im a big fan of the seafood here and it never disappoints. Big portions and high quality food. The staff here are always so welcoming and very professional which I find enhances the overall experience each visit
Steaks were delicious...salmon was terrible, as was the service. Rude and cold, almost abrasive. The hostess was lovely but thats where it ended. Do not recommend.
I wanted to bring to their attention an unfortunate experience I had during my recent visit to the restaurant. After dining on the peppercorn steak, I began experiencing severe diarrhea and vomiting within the hour. Concerned about my health, I called the restaurant to report the issue, hoping it would be taken seriously. However, I was met with a condescending response from the receptionist, who dismissed my concerns by stating that no other complaints had been received that night. While I understand that not everyone orders the same dish, I believe it s important to investigate such matters thoroughly, rather than dismissing them outright. What I expected was a simple acknowledgment of my concern and an assurance that the issue would be looked into. Unfortunately, the conversation left me feeling unheard and frustrated, which is not the level of professionalism I would expect from a reputable establishment. I hope they will take this feedback seriously and ensure that such matters are handled with the care and professionalism that your customers deserve.
Very good and amazing servers
Incredible place, you will be surprised. As you enter everything changes theres a WOW factor. Glamorous and special. The is is that food and service match the scenery. Do yourself a favor, dont miss it.
Well, to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I know that this fine dining steak house has been around for a least 50 years, and back in the day, Im sure its standards were a lot higher than the present day.My wife and I went there for our anniversary dinner an elderly man greeted us and showed us to our table after talking our order of Chateaubriand for 2 as main and Mussels as an appetizers. That was the last we saw of him.He had moved on to other guests that had 6 or more in their groups. ( bigger tips) It took half an hour for our appetizers and another fifty minutes for our main course. If anyone has ever eaten this meal, they would know that Chateaubriand is Flambed In a Brandy this on was definitely not. This fine dining Restaurant always had an outstanding reputation. My wife and have usually spent two hundred and fifty dollars at other steak houses on our anniversary. Its not about the money its about the experience. We also left a nice tip for the server that took over serving us. We would be very cautious in going back .
The moment you walk in, you walk into history! Very old but well maintained structure and interior! Amazing ambiance! It s a must visit at least once!
It was mine and my husbands first time here, it was our special date night. This was an incredible experience. So classy, and the food was just incredible! I was in awe of the atmosphere, it was beautiful. Amazing service. We will be back!
My husband and I went to celebrate my birthday, and although there was a bit of a misunderstanding at first, the staff quickly turned it around and made our experience wonderful. We ended up staying and had such an enjoyable time that I can t even describe how good it felt. The food, intimate ambiance, and live music were all exceptional. The hostess and manager were so incredible that they made me forget why I was upset in the first place. Outstanding service, delicious food, and an amazing atmosphere. We ll definitely be back!
We came there for seafood. Everything was delicious, but oysters were a bit small .
Best date ever Lastest review ....wrost serive ever ...enoght to make me not come back Atmosphere
This amazing restaurant that was built in 1977 to make you feel like youre dining in a castle has been our familys go-to for special occasions for over 40 years. The ambience, quality and quantity of the food (still has the best garlic bread, french onion soup, and ribs you can find), and the seasoned wait staff have continuously made this my favourite restaurant in the GTA. All meals still begin with a warm basket of garlic bread, pickles, olives, and cottage cheese (spread it on the bread!). Plenty of free parking. If you want a romantic evening out or a fine dining experience with friends or family, this is the place. Anyone we have introduced to La Castile continue to return year after year. Ask for a table upstairs so you can have a view of the beauty of the restaurant.
Super amazing steakhouse, my personal favourite in GTA, lots of free parking, steaks are the best, huge portions, amazing historic building, professional service, huge wine selection, live music, large patio, romantic setting. Excellent place for a special occasion or family get together, highly recommend.
A staple for our date nights. Almost satisfied, never have to worry about parking and quality always on point. Seafood for 2 is always our go too.
Dinner here is an experience and special.
Fancy. Tasty food. Darn expensive
My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary and were sadly disappointed with our overall experience. After hearing many raving reviews from friends and family about this place, we decided to make the trip and give it a try ourselves. The building itself is very nice, however once inside, it is quite dark and the furniture a bit outdated. Our initial server who took our drink order was very polite and personable, but I don t feel that same can be said for the second server responsible for taking our food order. We waited quite some time for him to come around to take our food order, and once he did, we felt we couldn t ask questions and as if we were burdening him by the slight attitude he gave us. After observing the way he interacted with other guests, we do not feel we were paid the same attention, failing to come back to check in on how things were and if we needed anything once the food arrived. In terms of our meals, presentation was good, however they lacked in taste. The escargot was a disappointment, extremely chewy and bland. The steak and lobster wasn t too bad, but definitely on the average side, with the side of rice being comparable to minute rice. Overall, I would say for the price of dinner, you can find much better food and service elsewhere for more reasonable prices.
We came for a work dinner. It was a unique dining experience given the restaurant has some unique interior decor - like a castle. Staff were professional and attentive. The garlic bread was fantastic and really a vice of mine. The cocktail I ordered (empress) was good. The lobster bisque was great and creamy. For main, I ordered the tournedos Rossini. The filet mignons were a bit over for me, but still good. The goose pate isn t my cup of tea but glad I tried. Dessert was a carrot cake which was massive! Pretty good. The portions were generous for which I had to pack half of it home!
I have had business meetings here for lunch on several occasions. I have eaten in the tent after the covid outbreak as well as different tables in the restaraunt. They have very good seafood and wonderful meat. Overall a very good experience. All of my customers had nice things to say about LaCastille or I wouldnt go there.
Four of us went for lunch. Two of us had the French onion soup which was very salty. We all had the prime rib on a bun which was okay, but my first bite was fat and gristle. The service was efficient but not obtrusive. Went for dinner tonight with another couple. I ordered escargot and received a small plate with six pieces sitting on a spoonful of a boring white garlic sauce. Escargot was rubbery, bordering on inedible. When I had tried two of them i mentioned to the server that they were unacceptable he just said, Thats how they do it now. I cant tell the kitchen how to cook. I had the filet mignon, medium rare. The outer ½ was well done, the centre raw. My wife enjoyed her strip loin.
Celebrated my anniversary there and enjoyed the atmosphere, food, drinks and service.
We celebrated Father s Day here. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The waiter was quite grumpy and short with us which affected his tip but we didn t let him ruin our celebration. Food : 5/5
There is not one negative I can say about this place. Food was absolutely amazing... Service was incredible... Its expensive as hell... but so worth it...
I had medium to high expectations for this place. The outside gave off high end and upscale but the reality was just outdated and underwhelming. The oysters were bland 4/10. The escargot was chewy 2/10. The wine was cheap tasting and the margarita was 4/10 , over priced for the quality. The hostess was sweet but the servers were older and seemingly uninterested in us. There was no introduction. They dropped off the bread and said literally nothing. The decor was interesting but dated and the bathroom was very small. Overall I hated my experience and I left and went to another restaurant.
Attentive and prompt servers, who were also great with kids and complimented everyones outfits. Excellent quality food. They first give you garlic bread, pickles, olives with a feta cheese dip while you order. We got the flash fried calamari appetizer which was delicious. We then ordered Steak and Scallops, New York Steak, and Peppercorn Steak - all cooked to perfection, meat was tender and flavourful. Comes with veggies and your choice of baked potato, french fries or rice. Great portions - we took some home. My kids were addicted to the very delicious french fries. Their desserts - chocolate truffle cake, coconut cream pie, tiramisu, and tartufo were all great too. The chocolate truffle cake slice was so big for my child that we took it home. Everyone left full and happy. Love the old school, warm and cozy interior and decor. I would love to come back on a Friday or Saturday when they have live music. Kid-friendliness: Servers were great with kids.
Old school steak house. Beautiful venue. Saw torches as you pull up to the parking lot, fancy fancy. They also had live music at the bar when i visited on friday night but we went to the dining room. Steak and prime rib was delicious. Lamb rack was a hit as well. I chose baked potato as my side and it was creamy, buttery, smooth, delicious. My friends enjoyed their thick cut fries. AVOID the pastas, it was mushy, soggy, gross. Sent it back and it came back the same way. Just dont get it.
Over 40yrs I ve been coming here. Never a hit or miss! Ya it s expensive but it s quality !
One of the best steakhouses in the GTA. Never disappointed with anything.
Couldnt finish my food asked the waiter to box it for me and he threw half out.
It was a wonderful evening
Where the hell do I begin? Been here about 15 times. Perfection, consistency, and - I dont know, its absolutely amazing. Phenomenal service, phenomenal food (steaks), amazing atmosphere. I love this place. Real old school spot.
Beautiful restaurant. Like a mini castle. Great steak & seafood. Very old world inside. Nice to go for a dinner date. Food is delicious.
Always Excellent
Last week we met friends for lunch. We had never been at La Castile and were most impressed with the castle. We were seated in a charming little alcove that afforded us privacy. We had a very good lunch with plenty or food to take home. Our friends ordered the seafood platter for two, with a cost of market price. They knew the price of the seafood sampler ($32) that I ordered and assumed it would be close to double or maybe triple that. The waiter did not provide the current market price when the order was taken, nor did he share that it really was more than enough food for four, so our friends were shocked with a price of $300! Its true that we could have asked, but the waiter should have provided that information. Overall, we felt that the wait staff was a bit rough around the edges.
We had a great time here. We were a group of 9 and they accomodated us well. The service and staff interactions were above par, considering how busy the restaurant was that night. The ambience was out of this world the moment you walk in. They did an amazing job at keeping the place clean all throughout the night. But we sincerely hoped they would have asked feedback on the food though, their chicken neptune was too salty for our taste and their sea food platter was underwhelming. Other than that , the staff took good care of us throughout our dine. We hope to dine there again!
Went here with 10 people, atmosphere and staff are great. Food portions are great. But food lacked flavor. Especially the bone-in rib steak, t-bone and lamb chops.. most expensive items we ordered and was not impressed by flavor at all - was very bland. Dessert was great.
Wonderful food and atmosphere !
A very nice Italian restaurant from the reception and everything you see in every detail, everything I tried was delicious, meat, salmon, pasta, everything on point, very clean and very well attended, the people very attentive and friendly with excellent recommendations . A highly recommended place to visit.
From the outside, the restaurant looked elegant and nice, but the interior was classic yet somewhat dark and musty. The inside of the restaurant was not very cool. The staff seemed busy and kept bumping into the back of my chair as they passed by. When taking our order, they were rushed and lacked sincerity, placing the dish down almost as if throwing it. Everything was bad. While we were still eating, they kept asking if we were done, repeatedly, as if they wanted us to hurry up and leave. We ended up interrupting our conversation and finished. We visited this expensive, high-end restaurant to have a relaxed, leisurely experience with good service, but it turned out to be the worst experience weve ever had at a bistro. Especially considering the price, it was not worth it.. I felt uncomfortable the whole time we were there. I will never go back.
Pleasant place filled with the nicest people.
My family owned their own Charter in Eastern Canada. I grew off the water. I can catch, fillet, peg, shuck, and cook anything and everything from the water. I m definitely my Dads daughter. There is nothing that surpasses seafood that is from water to table, I do not mind paying to get that and can t tolerate anything frozen. We preserved, but never froze. I specifically ask if your Canadian scallops were Digby scallops, I was assured they were, I can also assure you, they were not! The place is beautiful, the ambience is soothing and the service was exceptional. However, now you have to bring your flavors, quality, and preparation to the table to match your prices.
Took my girlfriend there as a surprise for her birthday. It s her favourite restaurant. Not a total disappointment. I understand the pecking order in fine dining service. Our waiter was older ( not a diss I m 59 ) . He was almost dismissive of us . App plates sat at end of table for 10 minutes.. he was 2 feet away?? My drink empty 10 minutes. All his attention was focused on big group beside us? I guess he figured bigger gratuities. On a positive note food was outstanding and eventually one of his support staff brought another drink for me and cleared plates. I know the way this works I have been in the business over 40 years. I actually complemented other waiter and over tipped hopefully he gets his share. No thank you or good night from our main server though?
Parking: Parking spots with lines. Food
Had the chance of having dinner here tonight at this restaurant. The interior was very beautiful. The waiter asked if we wanted tap or sparkling. We said, sparkling, not knowing it would be charged to the bill as some restaurants Ive been do not. The waiter did not tell us the water was not free but kept refilling it. Regardless of that, at the end of the dinner, they charged us for 6 bottles of water even though we only used three. The charge came up to $76.00. We ordered the fillet mignon. First, they brought it out with no bacon. Then, when we tried to talk to the waiter he got upset and raised his voice at my wife and told her it fell off, but indeed they did not even bring it. The steak was not prepared to what we asked for, then when we talked to the waiter he got upset again and we had to insist on taking back for him to do anything. They charged us for gratitude because we had 6 people. When I looked at the bill I asked why is it so high he got upset again. The math was incorrect they overcharged for it, probably on purpose. The waiters name was sean(not sure if thats his real name seemed like he lied). The way he made my family Feel as customers coming to an establishment like this to spend $700+ on dinner was not acceptable, I know its unfair to base the resturant because of there staff but I will not go here again for my business meetings, dinners or dates
This place is great service is fabulous french onion soup drinks great but my steak Neptune had a very weird citrus taste that I really wasnt thrilled with but I ate it so I cant complain Onion rings fantastic Food
Nice cozy steak spot.
Amazing food
Went here for my 50th bday. Have driven by this restaurant for years - never been in. Very neat building with lots of floors. Wish I had tried here years ago. I was surprised they never mentioned the birthday to me and never offered as much as a scoop of icecream as we had a reservation. That said, it was still great food. It was disappointing we were put at a very dark table small. I could barely see my partner. It was an early reservation and lots of tables were available. The chateaubriand for two was amazing!!!! So glad we chose it. The vegtables and the filet were cooked to perfection!!! We both have been telling people how it is a must try, and how great the meal was. Hope the feedback explained why some lower stars. We will be back. Hopefully, we will score a better table.
Food was excellent. Will be back
Friday night we celebrated our sons graduation at La Castile Steak House in Toronto. This is as elegant as a palace with a beautiful cozy piano bar/eating area. Professional classical/popular pianist w/voice. We went there first, then to the upper dining room directed by very professional maitre Ds. The Shrimp Tempura appetizer was delicious! We had French Onion Soup, huge Wedge Salad, both excellent and bone in prime rib. We have never had such excellent tender prime rib. They were huge. My sons prime rib was so thick it was like a roast. Also, the Steak Neptune was super good. All the waiters were delightfully attentive, professional, friendly and funny too. Thank you to our two waiters, Tom and ...... who were so excellent!! The waiters should have name tags so we can see and remember their names. We were on the balcony floor and they were our waiters. So good! So endearing and friendly! They made our night! We gave them a good tip as they were well worth it! La Castile is over the top. Dont listen to any negative reviews because they are just not true. This place is unparalleled. Parking: We parked right in front of the door. The lot was beautiful with flaming pillars.
Beautiful and elegant place, my wife and I had a great time.
Great atmosphere, food and service! One of my fave places to go to dine. :)
The ambiance is amazing. The food was really good and the service was impeccable worth every penny. Would visit again.
Food is good but i have tried so many steak and seafood and lobster was bit over cooked and steak bit undercooked other than that i love this place
Excellent quality certainly higher priced but worth a special occasion. Peppercorn steak and filet minion were great. Celebrating my birthday and did not get the dessert complementary. Quite surprised
My family and I (4 of us) dine at La Castille teak house last night. This was my 4th time dining there. The bill was $450 something and I left a 20% gratuity. The three dessert items we irdered was on the house, served by the good, pleasant and efficient waiter. SERVICE: There were three service waiters. A pleasant younger gentleman who served the beverages, a waitress who served appetizers and maincourse accompaniments and a very rude, grumpy senior waitor who took the food orders. The grumpy senior waiter was extremely rude, did not have a smile on his face, when asked to clarify menu options, he rudely asked me to refer to the menu. Yet the menu did not have the answers to my questions. I asked again about the prime rib, the grumpy asked rufely to read the menu!!!!!! The waitress was yanking the menus away so fast that it hit one of of my family members. She was not at all courteous to even apologize. I never expected THAT kind of service from a place as La castille, having driven all the way from Peterborough !!!! Having been a consultant chéf for three Michélín star restaurants in Europe, I condone and condemn this kind of low level of service in any restaurant!! Disgusted even more, as now I am beginning to assume perhaps this was racist treatment as we being Asian in this restaurant! FOOD: Complimentary garlic butter baguette was tasty and flavourful. Good crust and well seasoned. Escargot was okay, but nothing much compared to what they served before. Jumbo prawn cocktail was good, but it was just boiled prawns with cocktail/marinara sauce and lemon. The Fillet Mignon and NY Striploin steaks were decent and flavourful, according to my family members with me who dined there. The Chicken Neptune with crab meat and hollandaise sauce on Asparagus was good, according to my wife. As for my Bone in Rib steak was ordered to be medium. The surface was burnt and loads of carbon was on it. Only the center portion if the steak had pinkish redness, however, as a chéf, I found the steak was overcooked to be medium standard. The rude waitor hardly added any black pepper from the long pepper mill, as if he was adding solid gold dust from his personal wealth. When asked to add more, the nice waitor came and did that. The baked potato was bland, even after adding chives, butter, bacon bits and sour cream. Honestly, I have had better steak at the Keg and their service has always been great. AMBIENCE ABSOLUTEL eclectic, embellishes, dimly lit, wooden interior was an amazing experience. However, bright blue-white light bulbs in chandelliers and exterior lighting were quite visible and were eyesores in a castle like romantic, warm interior atmosphere. Note for La castille management: Restaurant ls are graded for (1) Food quality and the flavours, aromas, creativities, presentations, tastes, complex textures and the overall palate experience. (2) Service quality - courteousness, pleasant presentation, friendly, respectful and conducive conversations, explanation of the menu (3) Ambience - interior, with conducive, warm and welcoming - the only plus point at this restaurant for me. These three factors adetermine if any customer will return to dine again. If any one of them scores less, that is a lost client. La Castille has certainly lost my confidence on ever returning returning to dine there again! My wallet will explore other places where my discerning expectations are satisfied.
Reservations made for 5 people and particularly asked for a nice table, when we arrived older host took us first to a lower dark level terrible corner, I asked to be seated somewhere more pleasant, our table was changed to exit corner where waiters loudly tossed salads and put dirty or the empty dishes, but stll better than the first table, the hostess in front brunette is very unpleasant together with an older host man , our server was ok food ok I gave 30% tip just because server was a woman and it was mothers day! And she worked on this special day. We all didnt enjoy the restaurant, atmosphere WILL NOT RETURN to LA Castille. There are much better places in Toronto with better service food and cocktails and ambience. P.s I have never written a review before about any restaurant, but this experience left a bad taste and wanted to share, la Castille is not worth it at all.
Great crab legs. Super decor!
Took my parents & 10 other people to celebrate their 65th anniversary. The atmosphere, service & food was great. Way better than The Keg in my opinion!
Fine dining. Exceptional experience! A definite good place to visit, at least once Food : 5/5
Amazing steaks, food, wine, and service. Always consistent and love coming here.
Great food all around. Awesome service. The way an old school steak house should be.Havent been there for quite some and still a great experience.
This a type of place that you would bring your whole family and celebrate a milestone, bring an important soulmate, and lastly, a deep conversation with your best friend. Friend. I never expected so much from this place that could bring a smile to my face. The servers and everybody else are excellent in their hospitality. Highly recommended!
Love this place, its so beautiful!! Excellent food and service.
What a perfect dinner! Absolutely amazing service and our steaks were great cuts and cooked perfectly. We had the 8 oz fillet mignon and the Tournesdous Rossini. They have an extensive wine selection, but we kept it simple with a half bottle of the Geografico chianti. Everything was well worth it however, I thought the $12 bottles of water were overpriced.
This is the GOLD standard of steakhouses. Love this place!
La Castile exudes romance and sophistication, making it the perfect destination for a memorable fine dining experience. From the moment you step inside, youre transported to a world of elegance and charm, with dim lighting and plush seating setting the stage for a romantic evening. The menu at La Castile features an exquisite selection of dishes, crafted with the finest ingredients and presented with artistic flair. Whether youre indulging in a succulent steak or savoring fresh seafood, each bite is a culinary delight. The attentive staff ensure that every aspect of your dining experience is flawless, from the impeccable service to the attention to detail in presentation. Whether youre celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to impress your date, La Castile promises an unforgettable romantic dining experience.
The atmosphere at La Castile was lessened by the waiters unfriendly behavior, which seemed to reflect a judgment of our group based on how much we were willing to spend right from the start, rather than offering everyone equal respect and professionalism. This preference for serving other tables over ours, along with a dismissive response to our requests, including a sarcastic remark about drink refills not being complimentary and irritation at our request to split the bill, highlighted a larger problem: the quality of service appeared to hinge on the perceived financial benefit to the server. I should note that Im not one to avoid spending on dining out; Ive frequently enjoyed and invested in premium dining experiences. Nevertheless, our decision to opt for a simpler meal that evening, avoiding alcohol and several courses, shouldnt have resulted in a lower standard of service. The waiters attitude, implying that we didnt present a worthwhile opportunity, was notably disappointing. Despite the food being satisfactory and the restaurants impressive décor, this experience tarnished by the waiters unwelcoming behavior confirms my decision not to return. Exceptional dining experiences should guarantee professional and courteous service, regardless of how much the customer spends, a standard effortlessly met by many other establishments.
Has been one of my favourite restaurants for 30+ years .. never disappoints!
The staff are great. Knowledgeable and the food is delicious
Food is scrumptious, extensive wine list, 3 Michelin stars. Highly recommended.
Always a great time. Always !
this is a beautiful place.....service and food was amazing. considering this is a high end steak house....it doesnt break the bank compared to other streak houses.
Beautiful
You have to try it its a fancy place to dress and have a nice meal or drink
Fantastic food and service!
Great
Great atmosphere. Cocktails were pricey, but really good. The steak was cooked to perfection.
The food here is disgusting, its bland and just thrown on the plate. They need a new chef and menu, you can tell they dont care about the food. Most waiters are miserable minus a couple. Get it together
We loved it here. My first time. We went for my 60th birthday. Lovely food. We shared a steak dinner. It had a fancy name. It was yummy. Had some red wine and tirimasu. Staff were lovely. Washrooms neat and clean. The prices are steep but you should know this ahead of time.
The best food and service in Toronto. Our waiter Johnny handsome was unbelievable. Was here celebrating a coworkers retirement and always a great experience, perfection
Johnny handsome was wonderful. What an amazing experience. Food service is amazing. Xxxooo
