For over 40 years, The House of Lam has been Greater Moncton’s #1 destination for authentic Chinese and Cantonese food. Our weekday and Sunday night buffet has gotten excellent reviews from our customers.
House of Lam Restaurant has a classy dine in atmosphere, and is gently lit inside, ideal for a cozy evening dine out. Friendly quick service. Ordered takeout on our visit (szechuan platter and a combo with generous, meaty chicken balls). Egg rolls were so yummy! The place was busy! Our meals were very good! It is easy to see - and taste - why House of Lam is so highly rated.
customer last 5 years, Over last 8 months noticed a big change in food amount and quality. Price of meals gone up, size has gone down, and quality of food has gone down. Burnt egg roles, soggy vegetables dishes, no size difference from a dinner for two to a dinner for three other than one additional side dish not worth the price difference. Very disappointed once a very fair priced good food restaurant, now so bad I'm looking into other Chinese restaurants to be my goto place.
Good customer service the lady who served me yesterday was so nice . Food was great
Got take out tonight and it was delicious! I ordered the chillipepper spareribs (medium) and the House of Lam’s fried rice which has pork, lobster and chicken in it! Everything was delicious! The ribs were well seasoned… to the bone! 💯
Just since I've been here there has been over 25 take out orders go out the door. Won ton soup was wonderful egg rolls very tasty so far I am giving House of Lam a 5 star rating... Come sew for yourself you won't be disappointed.
Grabbed a snack for the long drive home!! We will always love it here, such fond memories of this place since I've been a little girl. Haven't disappointed us yet!! Check em out if you haven't already
Great Canadian Chinese food. There is a reason why they have been around for over 30 years. The chicken balls are very generous with meat content and they give you the option of different sauces. They also serve Cantonese style chow mein, (noodles) or Canadian style, (bean sprouts). My only suggestion for improvement is that I wish for the Cantonese style, double marinated, deep-fried chicken wings, the wings are braised here and they are tasty too.
I've gone here for 20 years and I don't think I can go anymore. Charged me 15.95 for 2 cups or chicken fried rice and 8.50 for 2 small egg rolls. Great food, but literally this is price gouging. This isn't inflation. I can get an entire meal for less than this elsewhere. I can't stomach the prices anymore.... update, there is a hair...
This restaurant is one of the worst I have been to in my life, both for the taste and for the service. - Food quality is terrible. The feeling in the mouth was warm and greasy. - During our visit, two employees were arguing, which caused tension.
I have just learned that the owners of this establishment take tips from staff. This is not allowed and I would never purchase from a place that does this.
Best Chinese food in Moncton.
The food and service were Excellent!
Szechuan platter always is the best.
Great dining experience! The staff and owners are all so friendly! My dads favorite restaurant in Moncton!
Best place in town
The business has been around for 40 years and you can tell. You walk in and are immediately hit with the stench of 40 year old carpet and smells. We stopped in for the buffet but after seeing that it consisted of 8 items, we decided to walk out.
I went there this afternoon for supper. Food was ok, but very pricy and service was very good.
Welcoming environment! Beautiful atmosphere!! FULL plate of tantalizing food! Best Chinese food ever!!! Thank you for a pleasant evening!!!!
Picked up a Seafood Delight meal with spring rolls. More than enough for two people. It was very good eating. Near our hotel.
Always get my order as requested. Its ready on time.
Great service
My husband is addicted to the sczehuan platter. Food is always hot and ready to go when we pick up at the scheduled time.
Food is always amazing here. Egg rolls are the best Ive had. Amazing customer service as well. Recommended to everyone I know!
Referred to House of Lam, take out very disappointed, came in about 1/2 hour, in plastic container 1/2 size of other places. Opened it right away stream coming off of food that was GREASY, SOGGY FOOD, SS chicken balls, Breaded Shrimp. We got chicken fried rice, better taste, VERY EXPENSIVE AND SMALL QUANTITIES. NEVER GO BACK ,at $20-$30 per dish very disappointed. DUE TO DISABILITY, MUST TAKE OUT, go back to cardboard, does not do this..
Had a great dinner at House of Lam! We had their signature schezwan special, and the medium spiciness was just perfect! Parking: The parking lot is just big enough to fill the restaurant.
If you enjoy Chinese food, this is a great place to eat. House of Lam has been around for years and years. My mom recommends the seafood Cantonese chow mein. I love the honey garlic ribs and their homemade plum sauce . Parking: If you go when its busy, its hard to park as the parking lot is small. However, there is parking around the back if the front is full.
Super friendly staff and delicious food. Love the homemade plum sauce!
Best Chinese restaurant in town
Great food but cost is high
Delicious food, one of the best Chinese places, in my opinion, bathrooms are not the easiest to get too and a bit on the smelly side.
I took my mom there for her birthday and we both ordered the seafood dish with noodles which included shrimp, scallops, and lobster. It was hard to find any lobster and what lobster we did find was only the tiny tips of the legs. The scallops were tiny pieces that were hard to find as well. For a 40.00$ dish, it was disappointing.
The service is great. Best wonton soup around!
One of our favorite spots for dining. DELICIOUS.
The rice was so over cooked it was not fit to eat, the rest of my plate was way over cooked. I would warn people not to waste your hard earned money thete Food
Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was great.
Great food. We left full with take home leftovers. Generous meat on garlic spare ribs and chicken balls full of chicken and not just batter. Egg rolls were good too. Recommend combo #1. Waitress was amazing. Low quality table and chairs but dont let that sway you from eating there.
Tasty szechuan dish. Liked it immensely.
Food is delicious and cooked fresh
So good !!
Favourite Chinese restaurant in Moncton
I went in hoping to find a buffet. I was a little disappointed that the buffet was no longer an option but I decided ro stay for the lunch specials. From the moment I sat down the service was excellent. The drink order was brought immediately. While I was trying to catch up on some sales emails the wonton soup came within minutes. As soon as I finished the wonton the egg roll arrived right after and I no sooner finished the egg roll and the main course arrived. I never had a chance to check emails and I was totally full and satisfied with the portion.
First time going in to House of Lam. Star(our server) gave us the best service in Moncton. Wonderful conversation and a great laugh. The service was very quick, the plates were full enough to bring food home too! Affordable priced meals for two. Thank you guys! Have a good day
By far the absolute worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant, I went in notifying the staff I had to eat gluten free my husband ordered combo 1 and I ordered chicken roll on basmati rice the menu stated it was lean meat rolled in thinly sliced chicken with egg wash gluten free!! Well it came out on top of veggies but it was deep fried and clearly battered I couldn t eat any of it as it contaminated all my food. The server asked about things I explained to her. My husband gave me chow main as that was gluten free on his meal and that was my lunch best part is when we get to the cash bill was $60.00! I said your Gina charged me for something I couldn t eat and you threw the whole thing in the garbage she smiled and said yep!! Wow just wow! I own a restaurant in Miramichi and I would NEVER do that!
Food was great and lots of it...
Food is great as always.
The food is good but the decor and atmosphere showing signs of wear and neglect. Washrooms dirty
First visit but not our last. We loved everything about this restaurant - particularly the food!! The lemon chicken was perfect.
Terrible unprofessional delivery service.
Very disappointed! There was 1) no sweet and sour soup 2) won tong soup was bland and the won tongs were empty with pork meat 3) the chowmein had not veggies and lettuce. Basically bean sprouts. 4) price has gone up dramatically and the quality of the food has been very disappointing. Not sure what is going but we were left very desapointed. Will not return after being a customer for almost 40 years.
Food
Great place to go for a great meal
Very delicious, very prompt . Pricing is fair
Very busy for Fathers day buffet not the best
This place. sad to say but theres a weird smell on the air could be cause theres an apartment attached to the property definitely not for me Food
The food was fresh and really tasty. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed their meal. The service was exceptional. Table was pre-set to accommodate our reservations. The waitress was continuously asking how things were and If drinks needed refilling. The only issue I had was the Caesar was not good even after a 2nd attempt. But over all I would give a 9.5 out of 10. We enjoyed our experience at the house of lamb. :)
Im really only writting this review due to accessibility issues. Google marks this place as wheel chair accessible, I wouldnt call it accessible if you cant get to the bathroom without going down a flight of stairs. Theres no elevator so you pretty much need to get out of a wheel chair to go to the bathroom. Theres also no buttons to open the door, so its either a challenge or you have someone help you to even get into the restraunt We did takeout instead, the food was good, little pricey. My wife wasnt happy with the way the staff treated the situation of my grandma trying to figure out if she could even handle sitting down to eat there, due to the bathroom situation. Very disappointing, first of all a piece of advice.... the full-size carpet in the restaurant... which smells of mold, a BIG NO... All the time we were eating we had this disgusting smell from your carpet... egg roll not vargeux.. A taste of curie instead of the taste of sesame oil...over all I dont recommend it...70$ for 2 and not good...and Ill come back to that. .. take away your smelly carpet, some advice..
Great food !!!!
There a smell of old that s not good for my astma
Had supper there tonight. The food was delicious, got seated promptly and the waitress was friendly and efficient. She gave us the best tips on what to order. Dishes had plenty of food on them, enough to bring home and have a second meal. Would highly recommend if your looking for Chinese cuisine.
We eat here everytime we visit or drive by Moncton. Schwan combo is what we order everytime. Always fresh, delicious and consistent. Washrooms could use upgrade, basement smells old or damp - but doesnt stop us from returning... restaurant seems clean other than basement odour.
The food was delicious! They have a great variety for their Sunday Buffet. Parking: The parking was full when we arrived. There were a few more space to the left of the restaurant around back. Food : 5/5 |
Nice
Food is always consistently fresh and great tasting. Spring rolls and egg rolls are quite large and flavourful. The restaurant is always very clean and the staff are friendly. Whether we eat in or order for takeout, this is the Chinese restaurant we go to, its the best in the region. Parking: Plenty of parking all around the restaurant
Great variety of food, good food. Amazing service
I Love their food...never disappoints!
Worst customer service experience Ive ever had.Placed our orde at 4 pm and was told it would be ready by 5. Arrvied at 5 and it wasnt ready. It was busy , so we didnt expect it would right out.Multiple orders had been sitting there along time and everyone working seemed to be confused. After 45 minutes of waiting they finally took our name and came back out 15 min later to tell us they gave our order to the wrong person but we could have their meal that was also a dinner for 6 with an additional dish that we could have for free but wanted us to pay full price for the order we had been starring at for an hour. Obviously we werent about to pay over 100 dollars for a cold meal ,so we left.Ordered from the Rice Bowl and the order was ready in no time with no mistakes. RICE BOWL FOR THE WIN! Dont waste your time at house of lamb and your money.Rice Bowl was cheaper and food was amazing!
Excellent food & Phenomenal service. Extremely consistent!
Best Chinese food in Moncton! Always a favorite!
Devine and superior waitress!
Food is always great. Friendly service
I have gone to house of lam many years and never had order messed up or someone rude. Pricing 20% higher..We got home no honey garlic sauce and no sweet and sour sauce on chicken and spare ribs. I phoned restaurant. Man on phone said nothing no apology nothing. Never will I go back again Very disappointed
To be honest, the food was okay, pricing a bit steep for the size of portions. Otherwise, a very comfortable dining room and the service?..Attentive, knowledgeable, prompt and unobtrusive. Second to none!!
Excellent service and food.
Best Chinese in Moncton. We have tried others and keep coming back.
Great customer service
Very friendly waitress. Food was pretty great.
Best Chinese food I ever had
Great food, great service.
Hands down, the best Chinese food in this city. Delicious, homemade egg rolls and sauces. The prices are much higher than any other place but I will happily pay their prices for the axing quality of the food. The friendliest staff too!!
Hood Chinese food
Came here 20 years ago as a child on a family trip to the east coast and stumbled upon this staple of Moncton food history! We loved the honey garlic spare ribs so much that they lingered in my mind and popped up every time someone mentioned Moncton. I made sure to include House of Lam as part of our itinerary 20 years later, and Im pleased to report that they taste the exact same! Excellent and legendary HG spare ribs!
The food was excellent
Super bon Delicious
The foods was good but the portion size of the orders was almost hilariously small, couldnt get over that, half the size we would get for the same price in Calgary for 5 people. Yikes.
Food excellent!!! Service excellent and amazing!!! Visiting from Ontario. Super place
Way over priced, save your money
Great food, good atmosphere
Change your schedule please. You can control it.
This place is a Moncton institution. Great Canadian style Chinese food.
I was expecting a much better food given the good reviews. A bit pricy considering the quality and size of the portions. Some dishes are just ok, others will not try again.
Very beautiful old restaurant with amazing food.
Food was amazing. Service was great.
best Chinese food in the maritimes ° ° ° °
Consistently the best Chinese food in Moncton. It would be nice to have a little more variety in the combo plates.
The rice was burned and the chicken balls were not fully cooked
We havent been in several years and it was the best in town, however quantity does not make up for quality. Great service but what was served as take out was mediocre. Lots of room for improvement.
Honestly heard really good things about this place from locals. Welll, do you want to know whats loco? The food, price and wait time. Price, how is it justifiable spending $100 and hardly get enough food for 4 people, barely fed three. Expected to have leftovers for 2 more plates at this price. Food? Flavour isnt there, small portions, not much of a variety of vegetable dishes, expected more. Wait time was ridiculous. Was told 30-40 minutes... mmmhm try 1 hour and 26 minutes before getting my order. Not going back ever again.
Ordered dinner for 4, beef & green peppers and a pork fried rice. Order phoned in around 4:30 pm to be picked up at 6:30 pm. When we arrived at 6:30 pm. Nothing was ready and several others were waiting for their orders since before 6 pm: by 7 pm they gave up and left. Our order was handed over to us at 7:30 pm. When we arrived home and un packaged the food we were short of the spare ribs from the dinner for 4 (the main reason we ordered this item). We tried to call them right away but they are ignoring the phone calls as we had noted while we were there. Both the chicken fried rice with the dinner and the extra pork fried rice we ordered had no sign of meat, only tasteless brown rice. Well see how it goes when I go back to let them know they owe me an order of ribs.....
Nice place. Its a little pricy but the food is always fresh and hot and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Birthday supper with family. Delicious as always. Excellent service.
Love the Sichuan combo. Owners are friendly and the food is always good.
Love House of Lam
The quality is fantastic. I am never disappointed with House of Lam!
We ordered at 5:00 p.m. on Mothers Day, 2 hour wait. We tried to call, no answer, my husband got there and the restaurant was closed. First and last time.
Ordered at 5pm, 3 hrs later they just never showed up. I called a bunch of times after 1.5 hrs of waiting and they never answered. I went to the restaurant 15 min before they closed (8 pm) and doors were locked. I never received our food or a call...
Great food!. Place has been there forever and always good!. Glad to see some things never change!
Great food. Price is mediocre. Could Be lower for sure.
Great food. Great service. Best Chinese food I have found so far!!
Love the food here , but seems any time we wanna order on a special occasion mothers Day/fathers day they dont have one item we always want.. Wich Is the chicken egg Foo Young .. I think its because they dont wanna make it for customers when they are busy for some reason maybe takes longer or more attention to cook. The next place I find near as good of food I will no longer be going here
Best Chinese food in Moncton. Ribs are tender. Vegetables are fresh.
Food is excellent there.
Great service. Peaceful decor and music. Very good food. Hot, tasty and timely. Nice selection of lunch specials instead of buffet. Liked better.
Delicious house made Chinese food. Excellent service.
Great food and fast service Found the lightening abit poor.. But guess they were creating ambience . Easy access not a huge front parking lot but has back parking lot also.. In North end of city and on main Street lots of visibility.
First time at this restaurant. Will definitely go back. Wonton soup was very tasty, ginger beef was the mild flavored, but had a bit of a kick which was just right. The chicken balls were especially impressive because of the amount of chicken. Normally its all batter in all other restaurants, but this one was about the amount of chicken. Delicious!!! Well definitely go back.
Its been far too long since Ive been to this restaurant. Ill start off by saying, yes, it is pricier than other Chinese food restaurants in the area. However, when even the wonton soup has nuanced levels of flavour, this is one of those rare examples where the adage You get what you pay for works in your favour. The sauces are excellent (with possibly the best sweet and sour sauce Ive ever tasted). Fried wontons are crispy with a meaty filling that has a substantial texture. The vegetables are cooked perfectly, retaining crispiness, instead of the typical limpness found most everywhere else. The lunch specials are generally proportioned. The ginger fried beef is exquisitely flavoured. On top of great service and lovely decor, House of Lam makes for an excellent dining experience.
Warm, fresh and more than courteous service. Its been a long time since Ive had such good Chinese food.
How is it possible this place gets any good reviews? Terribly greasy food and mushy everything. Omg glad we didnt order a $25 noodle dish. The food isnt fit for a dog. Pepto for dessert.
Best Chinese Food in Moncton
We went for lunch here a couple days ago and the food was very good. For some reason our waitress really touched my heart while making us laugh and just having an incredible honesty, innocence, and warm charm about her. She was one of the real highlights of our trip in the end!
Consistently delicious
Always good food
Food is excellent!!
Outstanding Chinese food. Sometimes a little wait, but man the food is always awesome!
It was ok, the food was good but unfortunately the prices dont reflect the quality.
Always good taste
Med spice combo.
Food is always really good, staff are friendly, prices are decent..
Great food quick lunch service
Consistently good food, and if you can get a table served by Heather you will have a wonderful meal. She is fantastic.
Great service and Outstanding Food!
Extremely disappointed with my order of 10 egg rolls with house plum sauce for the exorbitant price of $46 !!! Price gouging! Never again!!! I was trying to give my chef fiancé a treat time out from cooking The egg rolls were also only half filled!!!
Good food
Ordered a take out. Cantonese chow mein and spring roll. Food was good but I found it was a little pricy. Still, I would order again.
Great service, friendly staff. Food was delicious.
Good and service with a smile in French
Awesome!!
House of Lam has delicious Chinese food and as I love Chinese dishes this is a very good restaurant to go. They have a small Buffet at noon and it is always fresh so a great place to meet some friends for lunch.
Really good food
no deep-fried LAMBMB to be found, im sorry to say. Thim Hotron
Food was on the cool side instead of hot
Best Chinese buffet in Moncton.
Best Sechzuan in Moncton
Best Chinese food o have ever had!!! Hot and fresh
Always hot and delicious!! Best Chinese restaurant in Moncton!
Delicious food.
Good food and good service!
Pretty great wontons, waiting patiently to go back.
Always fresh and delicious
I called on mothers Day at 2pm, from Ontario, to deliver a dinner to my 77 yr old mom in Moncton, for 6pm. I had arranged to video chat with my mom, while we ate Chinese dinner together, on mothers Day. The food arrived an hour and a half late. I tried calling while it was late...their phone receiver was off, constantly hanging up. I called at 8pm. their phone rang and no one picked up. They overcharged, and, charged a delivery fee. This restaurant ruined our mothers day. My mom had to cook her dinner instead. I am furious, outraged beyond belief! Please please, do not support this awful restaurant. It should be called house of shame, because their customer service is absolutely shameful!! Update: I spoke with owner the following morning, he was very polite and apologized, and gave me a full refund, so, that was a good deed on their part.
Servers not wearing masks, cash station not protected by plexiglass barrier, not collecting names and numbers of seated guests. Flagrant violations of the COVID 19 regulations for restaurants. Totally unnecessary. Can t imagine what s happening in the kitchen.
Excellent food, great service Always recommended
Amazing place, amazing service, Absolutely stunning food!
This is my favourite Chinese food place in the greater Moncton area. My favourite dish is the chicken Szechuan. Its loaded with green and red peppers and you can choose your level of spiciness. Their fried rice is my favourite as well. The wait staff are friendly and fantastic. If you ask nicely, you may even be allowed to order hot and sour wonton soup. If youre placing an order for New Years Eve oh, you need to call five or six days ahead or you will be out of luck. Enjoy!
The food was excellent! The egg rolls are hand made and it isnt difficult to tell, excellent flavour. It was nice to have a plate of garlic spare ribs that were actually good for a change and the chicken balls were the best Ive ever had, hands down. Such a fresh, deep fried taste, with a real chicken bite inside. Ill most definitely be returning when in town again.
Good food. A little overpriced for what you get.
Excellent food!
Amazing food! I dont usually like egg rolls, but I loved these ones so much I ordered some extras to go!
Tried House of Lam for dinner today for the first time. I ordered the Szechuan Platter (delivery/pick-up order). So heres the breakdown of my review: Taste: Fantastic taste. Everything was full of flavour and you could tell it was of high quality ingredients as well as a very good chef in the back. Ive tried numerous Chinese restaurants in all of Fredericton, Oromocto, and now Moncton (2 so far) and I would say taste-wise House of Lam was the best. Service: Great service. Lady was very polite and attentive on the phone and offered different options to me as I was a bit indecisive. They are also very flexible with items in their combos so you can remove and/or add different items if you wish. When I got there to pick up the order I waited for about 1-2 minutes and it was ready. Restaurant was also very nice looking. Not your typical hole in the wall mom and pop chinese restaurant. I would classify them as a higher-end Chinese restaurant. Value: So heres where the weak point is for House of Lam and I can only provide feedback based on the delivery/pick-up portions and not the dine-in portions. So when I opened the take-out container I knew right away that the portions provided would only be good enough for one meal which is understandable considering it is a bit of a higher end chinese restaurant so a smaller portion was expected, however I am used to making at least 2 meals every time I order a dish for only myself from a Chinese restaurant so was a bit disappointed. Rice is probably the cheapest item in a Chinese restaurant so was surprised that they were so tight with the fried rice portion and so plentiful with the more expensive chicken and vegetables. I found myself finishing the small portion of fried rice too quickly and had so much leftover of the chicken and vegetables which is a downer if you have no fried rice left to eat it with. The good news is there is a very easy way to fix this - MORE FRIED RICE! For $23 all in for the Szechuan Platter, the only way I become a consistent customer at House of Lam is if they increased the fried rice portion in their delivery/take-out platters. And if they can do that then I would give them 5 stars without hesitation.
Excellent food. Great service.
Not good
Food delicious, service fantastic
Best Chinese in the city! Closest thing I ve found to the Chinese food in Chinatown, downtown Boston. Two thumbs up
I would have made it five stars but they charge me for a fortune cookie on a $66 bill. food is awesome though
