This is our favorite restaurant. We drive from Saint John toMoncton to go.

Ordered karahi paneer and naan for takeout and it was so bad that I couldn t even eat it. Called the restaurant to complain and they basically couldn t believe the food was bad. Karahi paneer was super oily, didn t taste like karahi paneer at all and naan was uncooked and had a weird texture. It was our first time there and we will never be going there again!

Used to be good place and near authentic but last few times it s been poor food quality, excess spices and added sugar to dishes where it shouldn t exist.

The first and BEST Indian restaurant in Moncton!

I really want to share my experience with this restaurant. The owner of this restaurant is the world best person i met in my life. Very very honest, Very helpful, Very kind, Very professional. I tried food from different places of moncton but no one can compete with this restaurant. It is very true fact. God bless you guys and Thank you so much for this.

This is probably the most authentic and proper Indian cuisine in all of Atlantic Canada. Halifax has some options that match this level of flavour. Their South Indian non-veg Thali is excellent, the fish curry is to die for. So is their mutton Biryani. Food

Had to wait approx 1 hour for our food when there was no rush. But food was worth the wait. Manchurian was fantastic.

It was our first time visiting this restaurant. We ordered 2 chicken biryani. Quantity was more than enough for 1 person but the quantity of chicken was very less compared to the rice & price. Staffs were nice & humble.

Oh my heavens! That was delicious! The best Indian restaurant I have been to! That was tasty and high quality food at its finest. Cant wait to visit Moncton again.

We took 3 chole, but it was so oily and salty that we could consume only 2 of it. The next day, we actually felt its consequences like stomach aches and loose motions.

I eat here every time I come home. It is by far the best Indian food in New Brunswick! You cannot go wrong, all dishes are amazing. My favourites are Chana Masala, and Shahi Paneer. If you re trying to decide what Indian restaurant to eat at do yourself a favour and pick this one. HIGHLY recommend!!!

Absolute perfection. We had the butter chicken with garlic naan. Food was fresh, full of flavour. Aromatic just the right amount of spice. Even the pineapple juice tasted fresh, so delicious. It complimented the meal. The atmosphere is relaxing from the private booths to the gentle music playing in the background. Service was top class. Waitress was so incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable with the menu. Highly recommended and definitely my favorite restaurant in Moncton. It was an absolutely wonderful and authentic experience. Menu prices were reasonable too. Will definitely visit again. Thank you.

We did a skip order to try a couple of items and have no big complaints. The slightly spicy noodles were way too spicy tho and the lentil soup excellent.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal for my father s birthday this week. Hadn t been to Taj in a little while, however as always they did not disappoint. We knowingly ordered way too much food so we could enjoy it again for lunch today. We won t let it be such a long time before we visit again. Thank you :) Food

Ive been dining at the Taj for 10 years or more... every time I am in Moncton or passing through. The meals are consistently delicious and euphoric. The Bhuna beef and Rogan josht are my favorites, and the homemade garlic Naan melts in your mouth! The basmati rice is always done to perfection. I could go on... I havent eaten anything there that hasnt been delicious. I hope this restaurant stays in operation for as long as Im alive! The BEST!

Found this place by accident and was very eased with the food and service. The Butter Chicken was mild as requested, but still had lots of flavor, and price was very reasonable. Vegetarian options: My friends had some of the vegetarian options and enjoyed them!

The food tasted great, but a word of CAUTION: they use a significant amount of MSG. Both my wife and I are sensitive to MSG, and unfortunately, we felt unwell after our meal at Taj Mahal. It was disappointing.

The best Butter Chicken I have ever had. Also, the most perfect, fresh crispy and doughy garlic naans I have ever had. Everything I have ever tried has been very good. The Shrimp and the Beef Biryani are also really delicious and have lots of spice in them. I always leave feeling like it was a great meal.

Ordered via skip the dishes maybe thats the problem. 5$ for one piece of naan is outrageous. It was homemade and delicious but not worth it. Coconut chicken curry and butter chicken each had maybe five chunks of meat and the rest was just saucem again delicious but no veggies and not enough meat for the cost. Most disappointing, lamb Briyani was beef AND bland with nothing but the seasoned rice (no onions or raisons or anything) So mostly good but not worth the cost at all. Might consider going in to see if its any better... Maybe.

We love Indian food and this one was one of the best I had. You should try the samosa Chaat! Everything was sooo good and the waitress was the sweetest.

Amazing food.

I ordered chole bhturae and the taste was so bad. It looks like they serve the stale food and they didn t change the oil in which they fried bhturae. After having the chole bhturae we suffered from sore throat. Even we left the food on the table we can t eat the whole thing just because it started makes our stomach hurt and sore throat. Nobody have enough time to gave you a fake review but if anybody put a review then please try to take it serious and tried to improve it. I hope this helps your business growth also .

This is by far the best Indian restaurant in Moncton and quite possibly the best restaurant in Moncton. If you want to go off the board try the fish pakoras for an appetizer, delicious!

I recently dined at this amazing Indian restaurant and had an outstanding experience. The chole bhature were bursting with authentic flavors, and the non-veg thali offered a delightful variety. The portions were generous, and the service was quick and fast. A must-visit for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine!

We had an excellent experience at this restaurant! Our server was very attentive and checked in often with us. The food was delicious, especially the biryani and Rohan Josh. The hotel also has a really nice ambience. We also really appreciated that the restaurant has dedicated lactose and gluten free menus. We will definitely visit again next time we re in Moncton!

We had the subz jalfrezi and the malai kofta. Since they have an in-house tandoor, the garlic naan was really good. The curries were so-so.

Food was not great but was acceptable. Smallest portion sizes of any restaurant Ive ever seen, especially for the price. We were shocked at how little was in the containers. Would not recommend and wouldnt order again. You can get much better for much cheaper anywhere else.

Impromptu lunch was very reasonably priced and just as good as the evening menu. They were able to make it vegan for me with no trouble at all. Highly recommended.

This is one of our favourite spots but the naan has changed! It used to be so good- tonight it was literally raw dough! Hopefully they change it back to the recipe from a few months ago. Butter chicken and paneer dishes are always our to to!

I visited this place recently as a delivery driver. Friendly service. And food is always ready to pick up. The only thing I dont like about the delivery service here is that we have to sign paper while picking. I assumed some negative experience with drivers made this decision. I dont like to give my personal signature on public paper. Anyway other than that the staff is always super friendly. It was somehow difficult to find parking but we were informed in the directions. Mixed feelings. Food quality is good, service is good. But, you know, when Im eating Indian food I want to have multidimensional taste, or different kinds of taste. Here its like a single one, a little boring. Not so colourful (if you can tell it about taste) and spectacular. Kids like butter chicken, so this will order in future for takeout

Table for two is too small,we ordered just one dish and table for two falls short and keep asking customer hows the food is bit annoying on their first bite if we need something we will simply ask but other than that its really annoying that you are keep asking customer hows the food,food was also decent not much appreciable,not recommended.we dont feel food was fresh

Terrible service I went all the way to have proper dinner plus having big expectations because of the review. It was terrible, the food is good but the service was unbelievable. There are quite few tables when we arrive and they asked me if I reservation but I said no. The waitress took me table at the corner right in front of bar. I was OK with that, was given me menu and took 20 minutes to come and give me glass of water and another 20 minute to take the order. I am still OK with that the food got ready in 20 minute and I was not getting cutlery to eat the food. At the end they bring for me (3) tea spoon to eat my meals. Common sense that how the diner will eat the food with tea spoon at the end I had meals with big spoon that was supposed to share the food. Never again even if it for free, that much terrible service but I was kind enough to leave the tips for the waitress. But not worth it

This is the best Indian restaurant Ive had the chance to experience in Moncton. First lets talk about the atmosphere which is top notch, not too much noisy just a calm vibe all around with indian music and Indian art all around. Secondly the service was great, the waiters were really friendly and helpful, the only con about the service would be the waiting time for the ones that are impatient. And last but not the least, the food was amazing, sure it is a bit more pricy when compared to the other ones in Moncton, but the quality is something that theyve never compromised. Had the Pakoras for starters, then naan bread with kadahi paneer and veg jafrezi all of which were top notch! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to try North indian food. Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options are great, would highly recommend the veg jafrezi, the pakoras and kadahi paneer. Also the aloo gobi is something that can satisfy your curiosity.

Went here today for lunch and was blown away. We tried the butter chicken and the chola bhatura. The order of butter chicken came with either naan or rice. I ordered it with naan and added rice as a side. We also ordered the masala chai. Service was fast and efficient. The food however was AMAZING. The gravy with the butter chicken was flavorful and the chicken itself was juicy. The naan was a star all itself and the chai was tasty. The chola bhatura was new for us and the chickpea mixture combined with the cucumber sauce were so tasty. The bread pocket served alongside was perfect for scoops of chickpea and sauce. The tamarind sauce that came with it wasnt a favorite , but it was phenomenal even without. We ended up sharing everything because it was just so good. Definitely recommend.

I ordered what used to be my favorite meal at the Taj and I must b honest they must have chnged chef the meal was awful. Usually that Malai Kofta is a mixture of potatoes and soft cheese (usually meatball form) in a rich but creamy cashew sauce. The 3 allongated dried up I do not now what I was eating was immersed in a super spicy hot sauce not at all that creamy cashew sauce. Very disapointed . I hate that restaurant when you order out is not the same quality that when you are seating in.

I ordered a lot of food . Went there with very high expectations but food was completely of bad quality and had no taste . Dal makhni , aloo muttor and even lassi and rest what we have ordered was so bad that we were not able to eat . Did complaint but of no use . Spoiling the name of Taj Mahal . I honestly don t understand how this place can get any low reviews at all... Based on my experience, i can t help but wonder if whoever left them went to an entirely different restaurant. I was here for lunch twice in two days and I think I ll do my best to come back once more before I leave Moncton tomorrow. The food, the service, everything is simply amazing. I ve been to excellent Indian restaurants but this place is simply another level. I ve had the Dal Soup both days and then the Butter chicken as main dish yesterday and the Lunch platter today. Food was ok. They call it biryani but it is not biryani. Whatever it was, but it was not bad.

I don t even remember how many time sI have been to this place. It used to be good. Even though the food taste is still good, but the service quality has fallen drastically. Thank god there are more options in Moncton now like tandoori zaika which is way better than this place.

Was looking for authentic indian restaurant, man oh man, this place is legit and probably the best indian restaurant i have ever tasted. Decor inside, Cold Beers, Amazing butter chicken, Soft naan bread, list goes on. We were a party of 15 and everyone couldnt stop talking about how good the food was, no pics of food as we were all having a fantastic time. I stopped in for a quick lunch at Taj today. Tandoori chicken is one of my favourite dishes across any cuisine. No one makes it better than Taj! Some of the items on their menu is truly world class! Chilli chicken and chilli fish to name a couple! Wonderful chai as well.

Coconut Chicken Curry is INCREDIBLE. Super tender, perfect flavor, good price. Pineapple daiquiri was also good. Definitely recommend! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and dairy free. No issues with the coconut chicken curry.

My wife and I were in Moncton overnight and ordered takeaway. We had butter chicken, and chicken tikka, raita, naan and basmati rice. The butter chicken was superb and seasoned perfectly. The tikka had a fantastic dipping sauce and the naan was great with the raita. This will definitely be our go-to dinner spot whenever we re in Moncton.

There were 10 of us and we ordered different dishes and naan bread. Variety of food was fantastic and the tastes were strong and rewarding. Really enjoyed the spicy food some of which we asked for it hot.

Food was fantastic. Service was fast and friendly. Restaurant wasnt fancy but it is nice and it is clean. We will definitely be back again. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian and vegan choices. Chana masala was excellent as were the vegetarian appetizers we had.

Kadai chicken and vegetables manchurian I ordered but really very bad , kadai chicken gravy was fake , its chickpeas masala gravy, not really indian taste . Quantity of every food which I ordered very low compare to other indian restaurant in Moncton. Service speed too slow , if you ordered Roti again you need to wait 15-20 minutes and meantime your curries become cold, veg manchurian was too hard like rubber ball , I ordered gravy manchurian but its almost dry. Roti prices are very high, waste of money and time. Old is not Gold .

I ordered take out from Taj Mahal this evening and most was pretty good. However, the Onion Bhaji were inedible. Literally could not bite into them! They were like solid pucks of sadness. Disappointing anyone thought they were acceptable to send out the door.

On the good side: the rice and butter chicken were great and pleasantly flavorful, and the staff was very friendly and helpful when we ordered. However, the naan we got was all burned and very soggy to the point of almost being mush only 10 minutes after pickup. Most of the other dishes in our order were distinctly lacking in any high points of flavor or seasoning, resulting in an overall flat taste that was pretty disappointing given the high reviews. Overall the meal was fine but not to our liking and not what we were expecting.

Taj Mahal is by far, the best Indian food in Moncton. I have been enjoying their exquisite dishes for two decades and the food is absolutely divine,...every single time!

Excellent food, very attentive hostess, and good service. Love to go back there. Right mix of spices, may not be hot enough (read not enough chilli) for Indian palate.

I placed an order for delivery which arrived within 45 minutes. However, they forgot to put the rice in so I called and they said they would send someone right over with it. An hour passed and I still hadnt received it so I called back and was assured the driver was on his way. I complained to the woman on the phone saying that my whole order is cold at this point and all she said was sorry about that. Hell be there soon. Very disappointing for the cost.

Solid choice for Indian food.

The food was okay, but we were 7 people and they made up to tip them 15% of the bill compulsory which should not be done. They are taking tips from you even though you dont want to tip them. It was something I had never seen in any Indian restaurant before. I would never suggest this restaurant fro more people never before now.

Well the food and staff was good but for some reason they have weird thing that if you go in a group of more than 6 people they will charge you 15% extra money on your bill and that was mandatory tip was not included. We dont mind paying tip from the service and food we receive but charging 15% extra money does make any sense to me. Not Happy with that rubbish scheme.

Amazing food, friendly staff

Didn t like the experience this time at Taj on 26th Feb, 2022. We were charged 14$ extra plus applicable taxes for the alcohol which we never ordered. Went through the bill, I thought it was just 7$ extra, so got the refund immediately from them. After reviewing the bill again, we were charged another 7$. We were sitter on table 8, got charged for table 9. Roti was not cooked properly, chicken tikka was delicious. We came from Saint John, highly disappointed.

You never get what you give a special request. It has happened once and this is the second time. I asked for Indian spice lamb biryani and i got the quite opposite level off spice( which you can only feel the salt but no spice). Tried to give a second chance but again a failure.

Ordered food and waiting for more than 30 min. Food didnt not even smelled good. Asked manager to take it back. Manager gave us other dish which was even worst. And in return they included the food items on bill which we even didnnt ordered. Please do not waste your time visiting this place.

Nothing special, just an okay restaurant. Meat was likely frozen and not trimmed. Naan bread had more oil that anything i have had before.

The last time I had Taj was at the end of April 2022 and it was absolutely delicious. They seemed to have mastered their butter chicken and Palak paneer to perfection. If you see this review Taj, keep doing what youre doing! The spice was fantastic also. Just the right amount of ou la la! Cheers!

Located in downtown Moncton, this reasonably priced India cuisine is one of the top 3 restaurants in the city regardless of its specialty. Nice atmosphere with consistent good service. Their lunch specials are quick and delicious, like everything on their menu. They do takeout as well. Highly recommended.

This restaurant can comfortably and confidently accommodate gluten free requests! More details: they do have gluten in their kitchen so there is possibility of cross contamination. That being said, one of the employees Is celiac, too, and the other staff members were able to reassure me the kitchen gets the seriousness of gluten cross contamination. This may not be the best description of events, but the most important part is that I felt super comfortable ordering from here. Pictured is butter chicken (soooo good), rice, and palak paneer, all enjoyed at home.

Fantastic food, amazing service, beautiful atmosphere and they went above and beyond to make my daughters night. I will be back 100% and highly recommend anyone else to check this place out, especially if you have kids.

Loved the food and service. From starters to main everything was delicious and up to the mark. Went there last Sunday, I would say their kadhai paneer, chilli paneer and chole bhature were so far the best in Atlantic Canada. Their chicken biryani is good won t say best but still good and flavourful.

I am deeply disappointed about the behaviour I received from the employees there. They werent generous or polite and made us stand until they finish cleaning though only one table was messy there. The food served was also not in the proper way like what we wanted and they didnt provided even water.

I would like to share my bad experience with this place. Poor customer service in terms of serving, food. This is the only worst experience, I had in Moncton compare to other Indian restaurants.

Very Good place to eat. Only problem is the quantity of food isnt that much. To be specific, the cuisines with sauce (gravy) didnt have enough sauce to use with even 3-4 naan breads.

One and only Indian restaurant where I can find authentic Indian taste. Its sad that they have very few dishes in the menu. Service is so good and they have consistent taste of food. Worth to spend money at this place price are so reasonable.

We called to check for parking option as this place is in downtown and person(male) told us that nothing is nearby and we should try back street. He also reminded that post 7:30pm he wont take us in due to prior reservation. He was polite and friendly. We reached before 6:30 pm and greeted by Sunny but he denied us to dine in as 7:30 onwards there was a big group coming in. There were two other tables empty and we told him that we just called and were asked to come before 7:30 but he lied on our face to not talked to anyone and turned rude. I tried to explain as I was tired after a day long ride and we called specially before coming here but he kept refusing to have any words with us. I agreed for takeout and we ordered(at 6:30Pm) the food. Sunny told me that he doesnt make rules here and we might do the order in 15 min but may not finish the food by 7:30. he definitely need to be coached on how to handle customers in a conflicting situation. He later admitted to talk with us, when I told him for bad review but didnt apologize still for his goofup. I would let the owner handle him or if he is the owner then may god bless you. Food is just ok, signature butter chicken got too much butter though chicken peices were marinated well. Garlic naan and garlic roti were not good in taste. Non indian ppl may like it but someone coming from Toronto area can skip this place. Not worth for 4+ rating as saw other people also reported for bad behavior by staff

Walked in for a quick lunch. Had the curry beef. Flavors were fantastic but the portion left me wanting a bit more food. That said Im a big eater.

The spices in the butter chicken were not cooked and was like a thick paste. We didnt enjoy it. Also didnt like the raita which was full of spices and not refreshing. The palak paneer was good.

The service and food was amazing! We ordered tandoori chicken and chicken tikka Masala and it was great. Takeout services are very accommodating and they offered a complimentary dessert since they were a few minutes late!

I have been to Taj Mahal restaurant a couple of times. It has become one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Their food is always rich in taste and flavourful. It resonates perfectly with the Indian taste. I would recommend everyone to give these guys a chance to serve you once.

The place is beautiful, the curry sauces are flavorful and pretty spicy (coming from an Asian), and the reception is lovely! The only peeve I had was that we ordered Korma and it didnt come with rice! Curry naturally pairs with rice, and I think any curry order should prompt you to choose rice to go along with it. Otherwise 10/10 would go again!

Service and food were amazing

Must try their chola bhatura best in Canada. They are open only from 11 am to 2 pm and 4pm to 9pm and closed on Monday. Its worth to make a trip to moncton just to have their choley bhaturey .I have not tasted such even in India. They are the best.

Just tried Chilli paneer and channa Batura with masala tea. Chilli paneer was absolutely awesome, a must try, it was finger licking delicious. Unlike other restaurants where Chana and batura are a dish together, here the channa had to be ordered separately with Batura. Still good, could be better. overall the ambience, music and staff were really accommodating. Kudos to the effort!!!

Went for a quick lunch. Cleanliness okay, Ambience okay, staff friendly. If we order a veg Thali it will look like a typical Indian hostel canteen/PG food. Neither pricey nor generous in quantity but worth a visit during lunch hours.

There are other Indian restaurants that are better than this place. The prices in the website are misleading it doesnt match with the bill.Either update your website prices or charge the same as the website says. Food is not at all good,its so bland for Indian taste. Taj Mahal was an excellent place but sorry not anymore. Will probably never visit again.

Amazing meal and amazing service! We were able to try a new goat cheese and onion stuffed naan which was so good on its own and paired nicely with the butter chicken! We ve never been disappointed!

Had an amazing dinner, tried their new Naan with goat cheese and onion and it was sensational. Always a great atmosphere with quick and friendly service. Will be back again soon!

The food didnt meet the expectations. The curries tasted as if they were made with bottled sauce.

Very very expensive for what it is. 2 rice dishes 2 meat dishes was 80$. Lol service was good however not for that kind of money. Food was OK. Portions are not big for this money As well.

And quantity is a palm full guys, so make sure u eat well before u order here or pay the price. Dal soup was thick, samosa chat had heavy tamarind sauce. Tasty Indian food. Was a busy night so the service wasnt the greatest. The plates we were given still had food from previous diners, but tasty Indian food. Pakora were a good size and curries were delicious

This is a nice little place for Indian food! Good taste, and decent service. The only downside is that the portion sizes are a bit small. The servers also didnt wear masks (not sure if this is local COVID-19 protocol, but it seemed odd).

Only tried takeout, but did try many of our favorites, knowing that each Indian restaurant will have their own version of these recipes. We ended up enjoying about half of what we ordered, and the breads were good but expensive. Most of the entree dishes were strangely sweet - sweet enough to be distracting. We ve never had Indian food from a restaurant that was so sweet. Other than that, the rogan josh seem to have raw spices in it that hadn t been cooked out and the Biryani was - sorry to say - the worst Biryani we ve ever eaten, from any restaurant or from within our own kitchen. It was tasteless and gummy, and we had to throw it out. In the end, we had a lot of leftovers that nobody wanted. The prices seem reasonable for what you get, but stop being so stingy and include plain basmati rice with entrees. It costs next to nothing for you and would make customers happier - hate it when restaurants charge for rice. So, it s a little less than average, but I wouldn t order from here again, even for the dishes we liked, because of the styrofoam dishes they pack the take out in. They do not close properly - not just my experience, but the cashier warned me when I picked up my take out to be careful because the lids do not close on the dishes. So, the restaurant knows the dishes they use are bad and don t close properly, but are too cheap to change to better packaging for their customers. (Yes, we had spillage before getting home.)

Excellent Indian! Giveaway was the number of diners with subcontinental heritage on their faces. Speaks to the authenticity. Extensive Indian menu, with all the standards. Service prompt, courteous. Not outrageously expensive. Was first Indian food experience for nervous friends. They loved it. If you enjoy spice, you might ask them to not hold back.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant. Im from Halifax but anytime I come to Moncton I have to stop in! Amazing Chana masala, butter chicken and chewy, air filled naan. Im obsessed.
