Music is so loud impossible to have a conversation

First time visiting this restaurant for my wife and I on this particular visit (out of numerous) to Montreal. It was my idea to try a restaurant we havent been to before. The food did not disappoint. I ordered the 12 oz steak frites. My wife ordered the seafood pasta and both were fantastic. Our only minor complaint was where we were seated and felt a little cramped for our liking. We would have preferred a booth, but thats a very minor concern. The most important was the food and the service we received, both of which were well up to par.

I love this restaurant, the food is always tasty, with generous portions. I think he should add potatoes to the salmon/avocado toast. I shouldnt have to pay an extra $12...the plate is empty compared to the other choices. The atmosphere and the music are very good

I first tried deville and never expected for it to be that good! Since then I started to come almost everyday as they have a variety of options. From salads, to pasta, desserts, and good red wine. The waiter is so sweet his name was Ali. He helped us picking our dishes and it was so tasty!!!

Excellent food! Spaghetti and meatballs were to die for - as was the hanger steak! Energetic atmosphere with exceptional service - Igor was attentive and eager to please. Terrific experience.

I can t say this enough,the service was absolutely impeccable. Our waiter Ricky was so great, we left feeling like we were the only people in the restaurant (which was packed before the hockey game) And who doesn t love a cocktail with champagne? The food was great but with all honesty we would really come back for Ricky. 10/10!

Arrived at the restaurant and the 6 of us were sitting at our table at 5:40. We informed the hostess who greeted us at the door, as well as our waitress that we were going to the Bruce Springsteen concert. We ordered an app and drinks which arrived quickly. It went downhill from there. People who arrived after us were receiving their meals, while we sat waiting. We asked the waitress why our order was taking so long, but she couldn t provide an answer. Our main meals finally arrived at 6:50, while other tables were finishing up & on their way. Big disappointment. Won t return.

Im so glad that we decided to stop here while my partner and I were in Montréal. The food was SO good, and the dishes were unique and fun to try. I had too many good options to choose from, so I went with two appetizers: the mac and cheese wontons and the ahi tuna tacos. The tuna tasted very fresh, and the won tons were cheesy goodness. We also got bread for the table and felt very fancy indeed when it came in a special box (with Wagyu butter). Bread is love, bread is life, so I was in heaven. We immediately decided that wed have to schedule a return trip to the city so we could eat here again.

I loved this place. The food was amazing! The staff is awesome. I was on a solo date and Zev & Lauren made my night! They are so nice and approachable . I really recommend you asking to sit in Zev & Lauren s section. Both of them are very sweet & nice. I had a great chat with them. The managers were also very nice as they made sure that I had great service and food. I forgot to take pictures of the food but it was delicious and worth the money.

Very good place! Food, service, everything! We came second time for a breakfast but this atmosphere totally perfect for dinner, night chatting on the bar with nice cocktails (all looks great). It is for sure my go to place in Montreal.

Ill say it was okay. The service was friendly. Pretty limited choices and the place was totally empty during the dinner rush so thats usually a sign of the quality.

It was sooo good! Everything is 5 stars. I keep thinking to come back there. I ordered the «bad girl pasta» it s for the seafood lovers..perfect portion and taste . I recommend. Kid-friendliness: I don t think they have an age restriction.

I was visiting Montreal with my boyfriend and had brunch here and the food was amazing!!! I got the crème brûlée French toast and my boyfriend got the chicken and waffles. I ll be dreaming about that French toast forever. I want to come back here for dinner to try more of their food because everything sounded so good and unique! The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this place!

I recently went to this restaurant to have drinks with my coworkers and while the cocktails were amazing, I was blown away at the service from Zev. Not only was he personable, efficient, and pleasant to chat with, but he made my drinks just the way I like, deliciousss!. (Plus I m super picky and he *patiently* listened to my preferences and made some great suggestions of which I rlly enjoyed). We all mentioned his wonderful service to each other after we left and will definitely be returning in hopes to have him serve us some tequila again. Thanks Zev!! 10/10

Great place retro place with modern twist (sounds weird but that s the best way I can describe it). The drinks are amazing, food is good, but the service is what sells this place! Family Friendly: Yes! Parking: street Pet friendly: N/A FOOD: Cambalache Salad (grilled ribeye steak, red chimichurri sauce, mixed green, corn, hearts of palm, yellow peppers, onion, avocado, and julienned mango, spicy lime and mango dressing) $39: 3 Stars I really wanted to love this salad because I love ribeye. The ribeye was cooked perfectly but should have been sliced thinly. Because I had to cut it up in a soup bowl, it caused all the other items to fall out of the bowl. The yellow (and red pepper that isn t listed on the menu) needs to be chopped, NOT SLICED, so its more manageable to eat. Same goes for the avocado, red onions, and mago. Adam s Famous Beef Ribs (signature beef back ribs smoked in-house, based in our root beer BBQ sauce. Creamy slaw, fries, and jalapeno-cheddar cornbread muffin) $48: 4 Stars The ribs were fall off the bone but could do with a little more salt to increase the flavor. Maybe because I don t know cuts of beef well, I was expecting it to be the dino ribs but sadly it wasn t. Of the whole plate, the cornbread was probably the best thing. Kid s Mac and Cheese (fries, juice, and ice cream): 4 Stars - Very yummy and good size portion considering there is a lot going on. The ice cream was probably the best part. This restaurant (plus all the others while I was in Montreal) do not automatically provide you with a kids menu even though they can see your child when we placed our order we ordered a Mac and Cheese side for our 2.5 yo until the waiter told us they have a kid menu which is still didn t give us an actual menu but rattle off the items on it. DRINKS: Black Rain (Etsu Gin, Kokutsuru Sake, yuzu puree, ginger syrup, organic dragon fruit powder with volcanic salt rim and yuzu mochi) $22: 5 Stars! Amazing. One of those things that you drink and hope to recreate at home just so you can have it again and again. Granita Espresso Martini (A crushed ice cocktail Hennesy Cognac, Kahlua, Gailiano, espresso, and Demerora syrup) $19: 4 Stars. Good yummy drink but because I had this second to the Black Rain it did not win the #1 spot. RESTAURANT/MENU: Very fun vibe and very very pink LOL Even though the dinner has a retro vibe, it was very clean and tidy. You know what I mean when most people think of Diner or retro, its like have kitschy things all over the walls, floor, chairs, etc. We found this place after shopping around on google map. We were not sure they allowed kids as the first thing you see when you walk by is their very full large bar. The restaurant is deceptively large that has a small eating area to the left and a much much larger dining to the back right. SERVICE: Amazing service! This was the first restaurant we ate at in Montreal and it set the bar high for hospitality! The hostess, manager, and wait staff were super friendly and very accommodating!

If there were a Hall of Fame for servers, Sophie would already have a bronze statue... wearing a chef s hat, juggling plates, and balancing a tray on her head. This woman is a legend. The moment she walked up to our table, we knew we were in for an experience. Let s talk real quick about her service - her timing? Impeccable. Her recommendations? Life-changing. I asked for water, and somehow, it tasted better just because Sophie brought it. Oh and lest we forget, her water refills everytime I gobbled down my glass. Our appetizers arrived at the speed of light, and the way she delivered it? I swear, it was like watching an Olympic figure skater glide across the ice type of vibe. She checked on us just enough. Not too much to feel like I was being interviewed by the FBI, but enough to make me wonder if she should be invited to Christmas dinner. Sophie doesn t just serve food; she serves *moments*. She even remembered my obscure allergy to a certain shape of onion, I like to call it a *psychological allergy*, cuz I m only allergic to it if I know there s onions in the dish hence why I used to love onion rings until I found out that well I guess u can guess the rest. Let s not forget that when her section got slammed all at once (trust me we saw it fill up outta nowhere) she sent over another waiter to look after us while she was busy being superwoman elsewhere. Exquisite level of attention to detail if you ask me. And the gentleman (mistakenly did not catch his name) was nothing short of amazing too! He told us his age (mid 30s) and I could ve sworn that brother wasn t a day over 20 . He had only been there for three weeks, but it seems like he had been there since before that building was ever even built. In short: Sophie is really one of two.. alright I ll say it, one of one servers give this woman a raise, a medal, and possibly a reality TV show. All in all sophie, I hope your managers give you the due diligence of making sure that you get to read this review, and that it only helps to elevate you and your service even further! Food & service outstanding, but overpriced

Overpriced and just not worth it. We wanted to grab a drink on a terrace. Ended up getting the worst table they had with cars passing right next to us. Were informed we had to order food, because of their licence, so we shared 5 pieces of fried macaroni and cheese dumplings (it was ok, rather under-seasoned). Ended up paying almost 80$ for 2 drinks and the appetizer. What a rip-off.

The service was better than the food! Lol! In all seriousness, the service was so friendly, personable, and knowledgeable of their menu. Great attention. Went with my nephew and niece, they loved the vibe and their meals. We ate on the heated terrace, which was lovely! Everything was fresh, well presented and prepared with care. I cant wait to return!

We happened upon this gem of a restaurant as a last-minute decision and we are so glad we did! The whole vibe was such a great surprise. While the concept of an old-style diner with contemporary cuisine could have been kitchy, it was anything but. This place is classy without being stuffy and the menu is extensive. The service was definitely a highlight! Tilos gave great direction on the menu and his fun and professional manner made the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable. We will make it a point to return on our next trip to Montreal.

My boyfriend and I came to Montreal to celebrate my boyfriend s birthday and went here on our last day in town on Sept 1. Staff were amazing, food was amazing and service was amazing. We ordered calamari and lettuce bulgogi tacos which I believe which was a korean-mexican fusion dish to start which were bomb. We then both grabbed a burger each and asked for bone marrow on the side because we had never tried it before. I got the fat cat burger and it was both our favourite burger of the two (forgot the other one). Would not recommend the marrow how we got it but on the steak as the menu has it would definitely be amazing. Our server was absolutely wonderful. She made sure to check up on us every little bit and would check in to make sure our experience was as amazing as it should be. I unfortunately forgot her name but thank you so much!! :) We would definitely recommend this to friends visiting Montreal and would go back again.

Great food and atmosphere.

I wanted to book for my birthday two weeks in advance and they told me that they had to request validation from their manager and that they would call me back two weeks later I had no news and when I decide to call back to get some news, they hang up on me and avoid all the questions I ask them to finally tell me that they only have space at times that I didnt ask for and I had to find another last minute restaurant for my party. Poor customer service. Poor organization. Dont book there for a special occasion unless you want to stress out at the last minute.

Very good American dinner, we were able to eat excellent burgers with real meat (probably flank steak) and fresh seafood. A service that listens. The only negative point is that the prices are a little high for my taste, but we will come back for the wide variety of dishes offered.

Pretty shitty service. I asked for a scrambled egg instead of the sunny side up egg. The plate came with an egg already. that was too complicated for them and my order was refused.

The atmosphere and service in this place is amazing. The food is high quality and fair priced for what you get. Big portions so come hungry, we will definitely be back when visiting Montreal again! Ate the steak frites and the steak was A+++ as well as the wagyu beef bolognese. Lots of options for high quality cocktails as well.

Landed ourselves at Deville after being in the area - from Ottawa, and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Stayed for a few drinks and some oysters, which were awesome. The server/bartender, Lily, was so nice and hospitable. I would definitely go back!

Had a really excellent dinner last night, all was perfect! Tuna Tartar for starters, 2 nice cocktails. Main Courses were Filet Mignon and lamb shank, awfully tender. Rick offered us a perfect service, thank you!

Perfect timing! The two of us shared: The starter of Ahi tuna tacos (extraordinary! Textures, flavors, aromas....yum!) The Black Label burger (the meat tasted... like meat! Very juicy, tasty, not too salty, with cheese and bacon. Strong and very fatty!) French toast (oh my God, heaven in your mouth!!!) Beautiful decor Attentive service A success!

Delicious food, priced higher due to in prime location. My husband said their black tie burger is the best burger he ever had. And he is a burger connoisseur. One of the better testing food we ate in Montreal during our trip. Its definitely worth a visit.

A warm restaurant with a diverse musical atmosphere. The atmosphere is relaxing, the service is professional and respectful. The cocktails are both beautiful and delicious. The food is delicious, very filling and generous.

Overall, for the price I was a little disappointed and expected more in terms of food quality and service. The chicken and waffles were okay but pretty standard for chicken and waffles... Could have done with some heat. The Brazino was excellent but the beef ribs were at best Meh... too charcoaled on the outside, not tender enough on the inside...edible but not worth the 50 bucks. Most likely would have complained, but no one asked how our meal was after the main courses were served.

My first time here and I intend to come back every time I visit Montreal. It has awsome food, chilling vibe and perfect customer service. I was server by Samuel, that made me feel very welcomed amd gave me great suggestions of dishes. It has good music and a nice external aerea as well. I recommend it 1000%

Do not order the general Tao salad ! Just don t !! Pieces of Chicken are big and thick not cooked properly and lack flavour . The salad is mostly just the chicken, lots of spinach, few cashews and dressing . It was not a good salad at all! When we told the server how the chicken did not taste good and was not cooked properly he spoke to the manager , however the manager was very dismissive and did not care . Also don t bother ordering the salad espresso martini . It s just slushed ice with Hennessy .

The price is honestly expensive. The portions are large. Compared to other restaurants that sell similar menus, it is expensive but the portions are large. The servers were friendly and the restrooms were clean. But the food was good so I will visit again. The only regret is that I wish the kids menu was sold only on weekend mornings. The portions are large even for adults. The plates are too big for kids.

I had the wonderful opportunity to dine here last Saturday night. I sat at the bar and ordered the Bone-in Chicken Parm and a Ceaser Salad. Let me tell you this... It was to die for the salad was cold fresh and had a delicious flavor. I would order that over and over. The main course was amazing. Huge portion and wonder taste. I couldnt finish it all. I am a big guy, and I walked away full and 100% satisfied. The bar tender was exceptional, and her personality was so inviting and warm. The owner stopped by and asked how my meal was. A great touch and made a customer feel valued. I will be there again to try their other dishes. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Loved our lunch here, superb service and lovely decor with the pink and white giving Barbie at the bar. Loved everything from brunch today and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We ordered the carbonara, the mighty nice salad , the French toast. All of the flavours were amazing. Really Enjoyed the weekend at Bernie s and au cheval burgers . The food was excellent with very generous portions. Dietary restrictions: The staff are great if you need any accommodations or have any dietary restrictions, we didn t have any but they made sure to check if certain meats were okay.

Dined here for brunch on a Sunday morning. Wonderful patio outside. The service was exemplary. Cocktails were refreshing too. Enjoyed the smoked salmon and braised short ribs. Everything was spot on and it was highly enjoyable. Merci.

Honest opinion here, went a few years ago and had an amazing experience 5/5. Went the other day and it just was not the same. Found a hair in the waffle dish, when we let the server know we did not receive an apology - she just took the dish and I waited about 10-15 minutes for a new one while my partner finished their meal. Service was also slow as we had to flag down the server for refills on drinks and water. For the price I would just say this time it fell through and maybe we just got unlucky, unfortunately will not be returning.

Cool looking 50s vibe with a somewhat pricey menu for what you get. Our server was awesome and it was a nice place to pop in and check out but I don t really feel the need to return. Nothing wrong with the place in general. I just think that if I m going to pay $30 for a burger then it better be a damn good one not just an ok one. I don t mind spending good money on food but the food should equal the price. I will say that their banana creme pie with an Oreo crust was definitely the highlight of the evening.

Make sure to call ahead and make reservations! We missed out Saturday night but landed an early Sunday dinner. It was worth the wait and every penny! The food was phenomenal and our server Samuel was very nice. Had some great recommendations and even had the chef make some accommodations (no mushrooms). Leaving with milkshakes to go - what a great little spot!

We came to have breakfast.... very generous and excellent! The staff at the entrance are very reserved but the waiter is very friendly. The plates were very generous and we enjoyed ourselves. Small downside for the rose pancakes which arrived not completely cooked, runny batter came out of the pancake... too bad. We pointed this out and they took the dish back from us, telling us that there was enough for 6 minutes, however we waited more than 25 minutes..... Our entire table had finished enjoying their dishes. They just forgot about us. They more than made up for it by offering us desserts!

We had a delicious meal and the vibes and atmosphere here are great. Great drinks, great food, great service. All around a good experience plus walking distance from our hotel at the Sheraton so that s a win too.

The meal was good and the waitress was nice, but I have never felt as oppressed in a restaurant as in this one. In 1 hour the waitress came to see us at least 15 times and without exaggeration. I hadnt even finished my dish which she asked to clear away I said I hadnt finished, she came back a few minutes later to ask for the same thing again I still hadnt finished but I told her I said she could pick it up my friend and I were constantly cut off in our conversations. It was a really unpleasant moment and made us want to leave and not have dessert. I wont come back.

Nice diner/bar for a 5@7 with friends or colleagues. The food was amazing and presented elegantly. I loved the skinny fries and fried calamari, a bit pricey but I would still recommend this place and will definitely return! Drinks were lovely as well!

Good choice for some Montreal poutine - not mind blowing but you won t regret going there either

Atmosphere is nice, also the service is good, but the food is disappointing. Small portion, and the cuisson was basically well-well-well-done not improving the burger. The fries are also silly thin, cools down very fast, more greasy because of the increased area not sure why. Price was above average, you pay for the atmosphere, not the food

I had the Macho salad - it was awesome! Fresh greens, light dressing, so many toppings with hot roasted chicken and cornbread croutons on top - it was awesome.

Cesar salade was not tasty at all with almost dried ans burnt bacons. It also comes with carrot cake chunks! It was good but weired. Ribeye was well cooked but the piece had a lot of fat.

Never disappointed! Truffle Burger - Mac&cheese - lobster roll! Succulents! Its impossible to go wrong as all tastes are always there! The portions are generous. Well done and thank you!

Granted it was busy as it always was. We had to ask 2 waiters which werent ours for service. The music was so loud that nobody could have a conversation or hear ourselves. I get it.... keep the music loud so the customers dont stay long. Not exactly top of the line service.

The last couple of times i went there was in the evening and had a good experience. So we wanted to try their brunch today. Long story short, i didn t like my plate at all (i took the steak chimichurri). I tried to force to eat it but i couldn t finish it. The 2 stars are for the waitress who was amazing and very kind and friendly. 1st the chimichurri didn t look like what is supposed to be (see picture), and didn t taste good. 2nd the steak had a weird taste with zero flavour. My friend took the exact same plate and hers was tasty and tasted very different from mine. So we didn t know what happened. We made the remark to the staff and the owner came in a VERY aggressive way trying to explain that it s impossible that the meat cannot taste good and tried to argue with us without even saying sorry once. We had to cut it short. Since we are the customers who ate the plate we know what we re talking about. It s very unfortunate that an owner of a restaurant like this doesn t have any sense of customer service, things like this in restaurants happen and it s important to take the critics. But the rest of the staff was understanding and kind.

This is definitely a hipster place.

The food was quality for the price. I would recommend that they include a small salad with the steak frites. The best part of the restaurant was the hospitable, friendly and helpful service of Nada. We will definitely come back.

Very nice place for a meal, and to get drinks

This place def is not as great before Covid as it was the best of the best in term of price and quantity along with taste in 2015-2019 era but as we know everything changed for restaurants after covid. It still is a great place for meatball pasta which is one of the best cities, and their wide dessert selection. The sandwiches and burgers got very pricy for what it is as now you are little cheaper than the 5 star steakhouse burgers and hotel bars burgers. However, I still think this place still one of the best comfort food place in the city.

Deville Dinerbar is an upscale diner with a modern trendy vibe, food is good and well presented. If your looking for a upgraded diner vibe with good food look no further. Price are a little bit on the higher side but you get good portion and a beautyful decor

A funky mix of old school diner decor and nicer food options. Sandwiches were very good! Tuna crudo was a refreshing appetizer.

Very disappointing dinner at Deville Dinebar. Tuna crudo appetizer was really tuna tartar with a few tuna slices on top and ridiculously spicy of which we were not warned. Oysters were excellent. Bread was OK but very oily. While appetizers came out quickly, main courses took over 50 minutes. The lobster roll was tiny and had celery, which we hate and which was not at all listed on the menu along with the other ingredients. Branzino was OK, slightly overcooked, but it took so long to come out, we werent hungry anymore. The restaurant is long and narrow, with very little room in the isles (people and servers kept bumping into my elbow). Music is way too loud for a nice dinner and the place sounds more like a dance club than restaurant. We were sat at a table on the second floor near the servers station and they were literally throwing dirty plates and utensils in the washing trays so loudly and with a complete lack of care that it was so disturbing to all the people around that it made us jump multiple times until we eventually changed our table. Did not bother with dessert as we were afraid it would take another hour. Our waiter was very nice, but could not do much about all these issues.

Best seafood pasta ever! Tried their bad girl pasta and it was delicious! With clams, mussels, tiger shrimp and scallops...very filling and tasty. My daughter had the au cheval burger with fries and she loved it too !

The family had a great experience at the Deville Dinerbar. The atmosphere is a retro modern diner, which was very cool and unique. Our waiter was very attentive and made the dinner more enjoyable. I personally ordered the Bad Girl Pasta which was funny asking for, but totally worth it. Was my favorite dish that I had on the whole trip to Montreal. If taking the family out or a date night, I definitely recommend this restaurant!

The proportions were consistent but the steak and truffle sandwich wasnt amazing. Kenny and Jana gave us a warm welcome and the place is superb. The music is unfortunately too loud, we cant hear ourselves talking, its a shame

We had an outstanding dining experience in Montreal, marked by fantastic food and exceptional service. Despite not having a reservation, the hostess was incredibly accommodating, managing to seat us quickly without any fuss. Grabbed a bite here in their new brunch menu. I ordered the chicken and waffles. It was amazing. The waffles were so fluffy on the inside, the chicken was still hot and crunchy as well. Some of the best food I ve had in a while.

It s an upscale diner but with diner food favourite kicked up a notch. Took our kids (6 & 9) and they throughly enjoyed their options on the kids menu. Service overall was great from the moment we walked in up until we left. Definitely recommend!

Nada was really a delight! Super friendly, upbeat and nice. Had some of the best expresó martinis as well! The food was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be coming back!

Overall, quite delicious! However, my lobster roll was a little small, but it was still tasty. The chocolate cake was delicious!

Had the Black Label Burger and Fried Mac n Cheese, which were absolutely mouthwatering. Loved it! For cocktails, we had Toblerone Espresso Martinis, which were really strong but pretty good regardless. Great service as well, our waiter made our experience very enjoyable! He was super kind & always checked up on us to make sure everything was to our liking. Atmosphere was very pleasant as well.

I ordered a steak and it was honestly one of the worst steaks that I ordered in a long time in a restaurant.

Wish we knew about this place earlier in the week on our vacation. Outstanding food and service. Definitely telling our travel agent to add to her list for others to enjoy.

Modern/elevated comfort food in a cool diner-style lounge atmosphere. Everything we ordered (the bad girl pasta, the prime rib dip) was yummy, and even the kids meals were good. Good drink selection, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, as well as milkshakes and dessert. Service was friendly and on point even though our server was busy with a large party for a birthday. There was plenty of seating inside and a small covered outdoor area.

Great experience overall. The food was amazing, lobster paella was really tasty.

We make it a point to visit here every time we visit Montreal. Their cocktails are great and often very creative. The food is consistently good regardless of what you order. the Service is very kind and quick. Definitely recommend visiting

Good afternoon to all , 10 minutes Back went to this restaurant to order a burger. I was greeted at the entrance by the girl who greets the guests. I explained to her I wanted a burger. She said okay, I will order a burger, even helped me choose. I explained to her that I was in a hurry and I asked her. how long it would take. To which she said ten, fifteen minutes. After ten minutes had passed, a guy came up to me, a guy. Either a waiter or, I dont know, a manager. And he asks me what youre gonna order. So I waited 10 minutes and I got my order and they . Didnt even start cook it. And then I ask her if youre gonna order. For me, the burger says. No, Im not ordering. This girl has to go to school. She has to work
