Delicious and homey breakfast deli, with affordable options and generous portions. The Super Combo was the way to go with all the options. The Staff and servers were respectful and attentive. Not busy at brunch during weekdays, place is small so I imagine can fill up quickly. Plenty of parking too. Will come back for sure for those delicious pancakes yum
There are super nice there is super good homemade jam for your toast love it
This place is awesome, there is a lot of care put into the menu and food. There are good fruits and many options on the menu. All day breakfast and other options but I came for the breakfast.
This might be the first time I’m ever compelled to write a negative review of a restaurant. I stopped by this morning to get a cappuccino, I’m asked if I’d like a double shot — I agree and sit down. I could have looked past the fact it was made with stale coffee beans, and that the portafilter on the espresso machine was clearly broken as there was no shortage of coffee grinds throughout — but what was truly absurd was the fact that one of the worst cups of coffee I’ve had in Montreal cost $7.35. Finally, despite holding cash in hand — the person who was serving me was very eager to push a credit card machine my way to collect a tip on top of the second most expensive cup of coffee I’ve ever purchased (that pleasure was reserved for an actually decent tasting cup in a Swiss airport) If you’re going to have boutique cafe prices, at least serve coffee that is of that quality. I should have followed my gut after seeing the cafe across the street was packed by comparison.
cafe oxford is a nice local place. It is a bit small but you really get that local atmophere. The food is nothing exeptional but its not bad. I would recommend trying it out. I went this morning, im not super impressed but i would go back, there arent a lot of breakfest places in the area. Dont have super high expecation but its a decent place.
Cozy place for having breakfast. The pancakes are the best! And, we loved the variety of fruits in the plate. The owners are very nice and the service is good. We only had good experiences every time we visited this restaurant.
Best breakfast in town! I have been ordering on Uber eat for years, me and my daughter and let me tell you they have the best breakfast sausages I ever ate! Reasonable price they even give you Uber eat rewards. After 10 orders, you get 15$ off! Don’t judge the picture I stole a sausage before takin the pic! Also I have a food allergy and I never had problems! No cross contamination there! Give it a try ! Thank you 🌸
First time in Resto Oxford a family owned and managed restaurant and YOU have to go! It’s the cutest little spot with amazing food. IT WAS FIRE!! The sandwiches cheese the sauce all have original tastes. Huge menu of a home made dishes The service quick by the charming lady owns the placs and her husband they made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Yummy ⚘🌷♥️🍉
It is one of the best place for breakfast in Montreal Lovely couple , their foods are amazing Cozy place and their price are fair I highly recommend every one to try this lovely restaurant
Great pancakes and cute cozy ambiance!
Very bad service , rude people,
Rude and impolite service .
The service is too bad, they dont give customers enough time, they have to recruit new people
Rude people
PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES SO THEY STOP HARRASiNG PEOPLE FOR MONEY
Bad service and a way of speaking as if we were their slave, the food lets not talk about it In short, I strongly advise against
Racist with customers, delivery people and employees Bad, horrible, unpleasant, aggressive, I can use the entire lexical field of nastiness to describe the owner. To be careful and the coffee is not great
I didn t event have the chance to try the restaurant. I stopped by, welcoming was rude and second sentence was to tell me that my kids are not eligible for kids menu because they re 8 and it s under 8 years old and of course this information is not mentioned anywhere on their menu from what I recall. Food didn t look that healthy so I decided to pass.
Worst cup of coffee I have ever had in my life it tasted like water and it cost 6 bucks
Perfect spot for breakfast
The pancakes were great. But the rest was up for discussion. A little rough service and trying to sell. The fruit was not fresh.
Very bad for lunch
Treat yourself to a wonderful apple cinnamon pancake with a great cup of coffee.
Great service, the owner couple are really friendly. The food is excellent, 10/10 for their homemade Hollandaise sauce and crepes recipe
I love to stop by for a quick snack or lunch.
I can vouch for the bad mannered woman in there, shes really something to behold. If you ever though you had bad service, come and check this place out, youll be served
Expensive
If youre reading this, dont spend a dime there!! We went there for the first time assuming that the sign says 1944 and its been in business for such a long time so it must be good. Honestly we try to support local businesses as we like to see local, family, and old business in the neighborhood. We asked the lady how big a pancake is and she started answering in a Harsh and Rude way. She kept yelling at us this is a restaurant and not a coffeeshop!!! (How is that relevant?), to the point that we couldnt take it anymore and she kept yelling at us even though I was at the cash trying to pay for the order that we didnt even had on our table yet. She was full of anger and we still dont know why, as we just asked for the size of the food portion and if the Backlavas are fresh. She is a racist, she said that you people are all the same ( referring to our nationality) and need to learn good behavior. She called us newcomers and said you dont know anything as if theres something wrong with being a newcomer (weve been here for a couple of decades). She is full of anger, does not have professional behavior and is a racist. She doesnt have the skills to calmly take a customers order and sell a cup of coffee.
The food and service were fine, but definitely overpriced. They re clearly attempting and failing to write fake positive reviews to boost their rating (see photo)
Rude and unprofessional employees
I came here to write I got yelled at by the female owner but I see I m not the only one. I had a bad feeling from the beginning and should have left but couldn t imagine how awful it would get. My husband and I took full meals. I had a plate with 2 pancakes that I was going to share with my toddler but she told me to take 2 plates with 1 pancake each so it would cost me 5$ more to compensate her for accommodating a toddler. We asked for the bill and as it was taking quite some time I decided to go pay inside and that s when I got screamed at to go sit down. When she finally came out with the paypass machine, she clicked herself to select her tip. I had had enough at this point and asked her to remove the tip and I ll just pay for the meal. She lost her mind and was screaming non stop completely scaring my child. I can t believe these people are still in business.
Staff is ridiculously rude and aggressive. I practically got yelled at multiple times during my meal by the owners. Once because I asked for the wifi password. Once because I didn t chose my meal fast enough and once because I had snow on my boots during a snow storm . Then a fourth time when I told them they got the order wrong and they told me I don t know how to read a menu (both owners kept passing by my table and muttering you should read the menu ). Food is not good. Why put broken eggs on top of pancakes? And it cost 40$ for 1 person to get a bad breakfast and abused. First time I didn t tip in my life and then the owner put her hands on me and tried to pushed me out the door, yelling that I should wash her dishes. Extremely strange experience lol twilight zone .. there s many other breakfast places in the area
Awful attitude and poor service from the snappy impatient and low class owner/ server. Don t talk back to your customers and treat them like dirt . Hope you retire soon or start taking Valium Food
Yes Ive read many reviews stating that this café is not great, etc ,etc ,etc... but I love it. My friends love it. It is not a big commercial resto. It is not fancy or shi shi. It is just a corner resto where one can enjoy the company of friends and family and have a decent meal. They do eggs well and omelets are good. I go there not expecting to be in a hip happening space with fancy decor and prices to match. I just want a nice comforting meal served my honest people and they never have failed me. Yes there are plenty of haters out there that just love to be in the spot light by finding what ever means they can to achieve that. I just want no stress ,no fuss, no crazy screaming noise. Just a comforting meal and atmosphere. I get it there everytime. Thank you. Will be back soon.
I LOVE your pancakes! They are the only pancakes I eat. Plus the cafe, has a wonderful warm feeling.
Been here a few time for brunch and loved each visit! The pancakes and eggs benny are two personal favourites of mine! Love the Elvis inspiration and the ode to Montreal over the years. The older gentleman that I believe is the owner is very kind as well. Perfect spot for NDG, will go back again!
Simple nothing Special Service in English only you ask the questions in French she answers you in the language of Shakespeare not very helpful but clean as places personally to avoid in the neighborhood there are best places
Amazing breakfast place. The food was delicious. The fruit is beautifully decorated on your plate. I got the chance to try exotic fruit that s I ve never tried before! The waitress is so kind and thoughtful
Super tasty and delicious!
She is a mean money hungry woman. That has no customer service. She is outright mean . Food is less than ok , but she won t let you enjoy it , unless you order enough $$ for your seat .. she will even demand you tip her more! I always try to support local , but there is a two way street , she doesn t support anyone local ! Parking: Non existent .
Family business, cozy, good treatment, fresh and delicious food! Very satisfied, we will return to the place.
Bad customer service. Waiter was chatting with customers that came in after me and I waited long to even order. Meat was cold and stale. Left 5% tips and the waiter was arguing and very rude. Not very cheap either. I don t recommend
The food is good, but the terrible service and legendary rudeness and impatience have made it a restaurant that we boycott, despite its proximity to the house. I strongly advise against it.
Really unfortunate that the owners are so incredibly rude and care only about maximizing their profit and having a rapid turnover, rather than ensuring a good experience for their customers. The food is not bad, but nothing to write home about. Would give this 0 stars if I could due to the owners attitude. I wish I would have read the negative reviews before going as they are all on point. Edit in response to Owner: We were there for less than 1 hour. Our plates werent even taken away when we were asked to leave, and we most certainly tipped the server. Except we tipped the server directly and not through the machine at front so the tip goes to the one person at that place who deserves it.
Great place and pancakes are delicious!
We were very satisfied with the service as well as the quality of the food for our lunch. The atmosphere is warm. We recommend.
Disgusting service. The hostess almost kicked us out when we only ordered coffee and juice. She scolded the Francophones, calling them farmers. She repeated that this is a restaurant and there should be a restaurant here? Eatery
Rude service. If you want to spoil your mood, here you go (
Too expensive. Way too expensive.
Null ! Zero ! A menu displayed at $12 I was charged $19 because coffee (filter coffee from the machine) is not included. So I pay with a $20 bill, leaving a $1 tip to mark my dissatisfaction. They explain to me that I have to pay absolutely 15% for the service. I refuse explaining the situation. I get teased and yelled at and finally Im banned from returning to the restaurant... Lamentable... Honestly, I didnt need this ban, its not tomorrow that I will risk coming back!!!
Worst service ever. The owners are rude and disrespectful. Pity the workers there!
Let me start by saying this, the food is great. Everything was great. The waitress on the other hand that we got was less than friendly. I had spilled a bit of water because of poor luck, a VERY little amount, and the waitress was visibly annoyed almost as if I was bothering her. The restaurant was empty and I was the only client. Sorry to say it but they need better customer service to match their great food. I won t be coming back anytime soon though.
A nice, cozy family-owned place to sit and have a traditional-style breakfast with good sized portions, freshly squeezed orange juice and a good cup of coffee. Theyve been around for 80 years for a reason.
Our family loves this little spot :)
While I enjoyed the food, service is horrible and absolutely everything costs extra. I was going to share eggs I ordered with my mother, and was told it was $5 extra to share a plate. I asked for a refill for my coffee (which are included), and since they wanted the table for new customers, they offered me a coffee to go. But after getting the coffee, she charged me extra for an entirely new coffee. Also, when we were briefly sitting only moments after finishing our food, we were kicked out because other people needed the table, despite there being other empty tables that could accommodate the waiting customers. I will never return due to the horrible service, Id rather pay more than be treated so poorly.
Nice but prices have increased.
Honor not polite and so agressive I m shocked of réception way of thar women Really level crazy in custmer service
Best breakfast joint
Servers here should work in Karens Diner because of how rude they are to people. If you dont know what that is, people go there to be treated rudely. I saw this lovely couple and their dog being hassled by the server. She was so rude to them! Customers need to be treated with more respect around here!
If you dont have 1:30 - 2 hours to eat. Dont go there. Lady tells you after 20 mins of waiting: . I will tell you when Im ready to take your order food is simple but decent quality , I wont hate there. But the service is pretty 1/5
The service and owners were just lovely! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Extremely rude woman at the counter. We walked all the way to this place as we heard good reviews not to be treated rudely by the cafe. She still has 30 mins to close, she wasn t kind enough to even understand the type of coffee my friend wanted, took offence when my friend asked for Cafe Mocha. She wasn t ready to even share what s available. My 6 yr old wanted a hot chocolate with marshmallows and he innocently asked for it imagine her response to a child is it written in the menu? I am not Starbucks or whatever cafe you go to she almost screamed at our kids. Never coming to this place again. Extremely bad experience
Too expensive for almost nothing. Didn t like the food at all, no taste and they charge for everything separated! A coffee, an omelette, a coffee refill, etc. I paid 35$ for a lunch I didn t like
IF YOU READ THIS, DONT GO HERE! Now that I saved you from a horrible experience, let me tell you why. A major part of running a restaurant is good customer service. The owner, in her previous replies, likes to cite sources about why servers should be tipped irrespective, well here is a fun fact for you: Happy customers generate more positive feedback and reviews for your restaurant. (Indeed, 2023) The owner (our server) was rude with my friend and I right since the moment we sat down. We ordered a cappuccino which had no foam design (we can make that at home) not even a simple heart. She told us we cant just order items that valued less than $50. There was a table behind us who ordered just ice-cream but apparently our table needed to be billed $50. She told me when I went to pay, and HERE is where she made it worse for herself, she told me why me giving her feedback was not required, that I am an Indian so I should learn how cultures work, that Im not from the neighborhood so I dont know how restaurants here work. I wasnt going to tip her because she was being so rude, but she went ahead and tried to tip herself and asked me to just tap and leave. I left her a tip for being rude to me and my friend. All of this, for just wanting to give her 2 feedback. Now speaking to the owner directly: I told you I would leave you a review, HERE IT IS! You may think ALL we Indians are the same, were not! We are very generous people and appreciate kindness and reciprocate with kindness. But know this, my friend and I walked into this cafe to eat and drink coffee and instead we walked out disappointed! You talk about how you survived all these years, well with service like this, definitely not too long. I walked by your restaurant : a complete joke! shortly after we left and yall were completely empty. May this review be the cherry on top.
The service was great and very fast. Food was very delicious. And the atmosphere was very romantic with plants, flowers, slow music in the background
Service is so rude. Food was cold and coffee was not included. 2 eggs potatoes and 2 sausages with beans and one very small piece of watermelon cost 42.00. How expensive. Will not go again and will let my friends know. Go somewhere else but not there!
Total disrespect for the client. Rude and not welcoming at all. We arrived at the place and waited to be seated. The lady was passing by with a plate in her hand and told us to get away from the door. How rude!! Instead of saying excuse me I need to get through etc.!! And then we are told they only take cash!! Who only takes cash in 2023!! So we left!! Get modernized!! Place and people who work there are unfriendly especially the lady who was working there today!! Never going there again!
Nice breakfast but a bit overpriced. Service fee automatically included. Lots of rules. Heed other reviews that mention quality of service. They are likely true.
This place is so lovely, best breakfast for sure, the fruits are amazing, the portion are good, it is really cute and they are so welcoming, this will be our new breakfast spot!!! Gity took such good care of us!
Amazing resto, the people there are so nice and they have the most beautiful and tasteful plates, its my 2023 discovery
The staff (a Gentleman) was very very rude! The other staff (a woman) was very polite and suggested great dishes for us! The Cafe is a little compact and the taste isnt as good as it is advertised to be! But, a good place to check out!
Really good eggs, I love the spicy sauce with the Benedictine. Good place to eat good food quickly
Oxford Café has been a reliable source of affordable and delicious food to me for the better part of a decade. I had one iffy experience, and it wasnt really that problematic, in hundreds of fantastic and reliable orders. The quality of the meals have always been exceedingly high and the portions always good. I love you, Oxford, I really do.
Stay away from this place! She s so rude not only with the staff in front of customers, but also with customers, she doesn t appreciate people s business at all.
A family base restaurant. Clean, very friendly hospitality, diverse menue, delicious food. DONT MISS AT ALL THEIR PANCAKE, THE BEST YOU HAVE EVER TRIED We also tried their fresh frui plate, it was outstanding colorful and a piece of art
Le café était rassis et le propriétaire était très impoli - je choisirais un autre café. The coffee was stale and the owner was very rude- I would choose a different cafe. Reply: You told us to leave the store if we were not the ones paying for the takeout coffee so my husband remained. You were not yet even taking the payment because you were focused on yelling at your employee sweeping up dead leaves from your plants. We sat down because we didn t know how long it would take. We did not expect service at the tables. Had there been few empty tables we would not have sat down. Your restaurant was not busy for reasons I now understand. The one other table that was occupied was also kicked out of the store and they were confused if someone would be coming to take their order. When one went in to check if they needed to order inside after waiting several minutes, you told her to get back outside and then proceeded to make a rude comment about her confusion. You are unkind to your staff and your customers and I hope you will take the time to consider how your actions and attitude affects others, or at the very least how it affects yourself. Your life will move more smoothly if you approach people with kindness and understanding (or at least pretend to) instead of going through every interaction assuming that people are out to take advantage of you. I was on vacation, in a great mood, new to Montreal (and didn t know seating rules) had you not been in such a terrible mood, you likely would have gotten a generous tip and a great review. You are damaging only yourself with your belligerence I still had a great vacation despite your stale coffee.
Food is really good and nicely presented. Prices are good too. But I am discouraged because they told me I cannot dine alone there! I arrived at noon on a Sunday busy time and said I was waiting for a friend. They reluctantly let me sit but warned me they don t allow single diners. I had to reassure them my friend was on the way. I tried to order a drink while I waited. The server (the owner) said I couldn t be served until my friend arrived. (So if my friend had cancelled, I would have had to leave!) Then my friend was 20 minutes late! I sat there in 28C on the sunny terrasse unable to even have a drink. Maybe this policy only applies to busy times? I don t know, they didn t specify. But it s a ridiculous policy. Montreal is a city where people dine alone all the time, especially in cafés. To discriminate against solo diners is just bad for business. There have been several times since then that I passed by on my way home when I would have gone in but I was alone. They lose out on my business.
We were a party of four. I was destabilized by the rude waitress but otherwise would have enjoyed my pancake and good americano coffee. Rest of our party was satisfied. Waitress s ire seemed only aimed in my direction. Won t be back.
They have no respect for delivery person. Treat them in D category humanbeings.
Good food , ate well & price it s not too expensive. but the waitress is very rude. No class at all. I m surprised the place is still open. Was unpleasant get service with sarcasm attitude from a waitress.
I usually don t write reviews for restaurants but I had such a rude encounter with the owner today. It s unfortunate because my brother and I would often have brunch here together & had good conversations with her which is why I m so shocked. I understand if business is hard right now (I m a business owner myself) but it s no excuse to be rude at any time, especially not to someone who s giving you their business. Today, I went alone to just grab a quick drink and had my Maltese with me (it s a hot day) and some restaurants allow you to wait inside with your dog. Rather than telling me from the beginning can you wait outside while I get your drink because we don t want to get in trouble for having your dog inside? (Which is totally reasonable and any sane person would happily comply) She took my order, didn t say anything about the dog the whole time I waited inside, and just before I paid she proceeded to scold me about having a dog inside & how I should know better as a dog owner - word for word. She didn t give me an option to tip, and essentially literally said just get out after I tapped my card I was so shocked (never been treated that way at a resto). I didn t even have the capacity to say anything because I froze from the mistreatment. Had to come here to share because I don t want the next person to experience the same thing. I sincerely hope you treat the next person differently. You can be proactive about a dog rather than the way it was handled today. I don t have a list of restaurants that allow dogs VS ones that don t - it s Montreal after all, many are open to them. And would ve happily waited outside if you just asked from the beginning. I won t be returning & will be sharing about my experience with my NDG friends & family.
Great food at great prices, server was unnecessarily rude. I don t expect people serving me with a smile, be fake nice or even go the extra mile. But the interaction I had with the server, was almost as if they go out of their way to be rude. They go as far as to say that service tip must be 18%. Which by law, provincial laws is absolutely illegal. Anyways, if you don t care for the service, this place works, otherwise, yeah don t go.
We went there this morning. Service was horrible and food was even worse. They bring toast in un buttered. You ask for butter they come back with 2 small frozen butter. Their meat and potatoes were stale. Not a couple of hours stale! They had made them days before. They are supposed to have fruits with the breakfast- there was ONE piece of old watermelon! The whole experience was disgusting. They charge over $4 per cup for the most terrible coffee in the world too! Normally, coffee is included in your breakfast. I do not recommend this place at all. For almost $50, two people can eat MUCH better and fresh breakfast in other restaurants nearby.
overpriced watery cappucino.
Thief. $7 for an extra small glass of juice. I will never set foot there and I would advise everyone I know against it The lady owner yelled at me on the phone. Thief and no taste
The food is ok....but the service and owner were horrible to us ! When we asked to order, she told us literrally Do you think you are the only customers here, scolded our son... and when I asked her why, she said because he wont listen to us Do yourself a favor and just avoid this place.
underrated gem in ndg. small business vibes, affordable prices, generous serving sizes, great food, lavish fruit arrangements, homemade potpouri, and wonderful human service the other breakfast brunch spots in ndg dont compare
Went there to celebrate my sons 21st birthday. Wasnt aware that the waitress would be sharing her political viewpoints on the Ukrainian war. That whole situation turned my opinion of this place ,will not be going back!! The bill was 85$ for 4. Expensive!!
Super friendly people with a very cozy environment. I little tiny bit expensive but very worth it!
Good experience with good food. The service was good and super friendly.
This place is a joke. No idea how they re still in business. Terrible, poor, bad, miserable customer service. A smile will go a long way in building lasting relationships with customers. A good experience means more returning customers and regulars, which is good for business. Their business model relies on people getting tricked into thinking they re going into a cute, quaint, cafe only to be met with sarcastic, rude comments and an owner who seemingly hates their clientele. Can t imagine this establishment having repeat customers. Not sure how long this restaurant has been around but they either have another source of income to keep this place in business or they re really good at reeling in poor suckers who will go once and never again.
Just make your own breakfast. They will ruin your morning by screwing up your order every time.
Two friends and I had breakfast at this Café today. The crepes were quite ordinary and the waitress was extremely rude. We had not finished our meal when she repeatedly asked us to hurry to make room for the waiting customers. We will not return.
Pretty good breakfasts here.
Being forced to tip should never happen, its probably illegal and instead of giving bogus explanations of the Law, it would be better to include the tip in the price! the grumpy owners should have retired when Covid hit!
Amazing food and amazing service!
The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely will come here again. I like this place. The owners are friendly and engaging and the quality of the food and service is important to them. They have a $5 kids menu that comes with your choice of milk or juice with then meal. A very good deal.
This is one of my favourite places in the world to be. The owners are sweethearts and the food is incredible. I know I will be thinking about this wonderful cafe and all my fond memories here for my entire life :).
Very cozy. The food is very good, the servers are very nice and warm. A lot of fruit!
Fruits were kinda on the bad side. But a really tasty breakfast.
Very friendly staff and really enjoyed their breakfast menu. Cool, cozy vibe!
The best pancakes and fresh fruit plate! Perfect brunch spot
Your fruits are rotten......
Awesome atmosphere, and the staff and owners and really great!
Extremely bad customer service, the manager acted like a rude and impolite baboon. The food was good, but the fruit were tasteless.
The server is extremely rude. When she saw my kids she said you have three kids? Don t have any more. The rest of her interactions weren t any better. She then added the tip herself. I never leave reviews but I also never have dining experiences that are quite so disappointing and uncomfortable.
Delicious food, EXCELLENT pancakes and all around friendly service. Highly recommend!
Only order off Uber eats and the food is great. Their eggs Benedict are amazing
Ordered an omelette and some of their potatoes from Skip the Dishes and that was the worst omelette I ve had, and the potatoes are over seasoned and that seasoning is gross..... don t think I will ordering there again.
Bad coffee, horrible food and worse service. Will never go again and wouldnt recommend ever.
The owner is so rude and aggressive. She literally kicked me out and didn t let me sit outside just because I only bought coffee. She is not up to Canadian standards at all. If you respect yourselves, never go there.
Wow... A very good place to dine.
They say if you don t have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself. In the restaurant business a clientele is built on how you treat people and the quality of the food. In this case we found the owners wife to be the most rude classless individual I have ever met. On this occasion I was keeping my elderly mother company so I just ordered a coffee while she ordered the pancakes. We sat at a table for two. The owners wife proceeded to insult me saying that I did not understand what the restaurant was about. Is that because I only had coffee? What if my mom was alone? She made a coffee sale. By the way, there was no one else there. Maybe she should understand her patrons and be politer so her restaurants rating would get better. Being rude does not help her cause. This is NOT a place I would recommend.
Staff feels like family, casual and friendly. The food is always delicious. Highly recommend the pancakes or any of the breakfast plates with the house potatoes!
Very rude to me! I will never go back! Didn t even get to sit down, she said she was very busy, there was no one in the restaurant. A smile and a hello is all it takes. I ve been there many times before for a wonderful breakfast, but never again.
Very poor service, the waitress completely sent us away. Seeing this in 2022 is incredible. I do not recommend this Oxford coffee to any human being. And I would like it to close to make way for good merchants. Boycott to follow
We hunted around on Tuesday for a breakfast place and was coming up empty handed (most places close on Tuesday, go figure lol) and we almost gave up...until we stumbled upon this place. Im glad we walked in! Great breakfast selection and presentation was spectacular! The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Nice to see places like this still around after Covid, would definitely come back again!
Resto Cafe Oxford fails. The Door Dash order arrived warm, but the eggs Benedict was extremely salty and the potatoes were hard, dry and also salty. The sausages were juicy, but also too salty. Somehow almost every food item was overly salted. The coffee tasted like dishwater. A total fail.
The owner was vulgar, insulting and extremely rude. The inside was not clean, had bugs and flies everywhere. In the end they were not satisfied with our tip and asked for a 15-30% tip. They yelled at us and called us cheap in nova scotia (we are not from Montreal).
Would give it a zero if I could. Hostess stand was very rude. They asked and insisted to pay 15% tips even if I wasn t happy with the service when I refused they called me names and insulted me. This is the first time I give a feedback, but honestly come here if you want attitude and bad service!!
Like eating breakfast at home. Theres a reason they have been around for so long.
Honestly, just go to Cosmos instead.
First time at Oxford Cafe for a family reunion for 8 of us. Such responsive service from beginning to end - we felt totally looked after. All food arrived at the same time, hot and delicious. If I lived in Montreal I would be a regular customer for sure!
We come once a month to treat ourselves to breakfast! Delicious food, friendly staff, cute outdoor seating! Only downsides are it can be a little spendy and the wasps!
I ordered a cappuccino that was about 4$ on the menu and when it was time to pay, the owner didn t print the bill and he said that the total is 7$. Don t come here if you want to get scammed
Good food, nice staff
Husband and wife run operation wonderful service and even better food
The most expensive breakfast I ve ever had, and honestly super unsatisfying. 98$ for a basic breakfast for 3 people. Rude customer service with a forced 15% tipping. Don t come here.
This was the WORST experience of my life. We took the time to make a reservation and was told to not be one minute late or our table would be given away because it was raining... Upon arrival, we were met with disdain because 2 of our party of 5 were children and they had wasted a place setting and provided too many menus. Not even a few seconds after our plates were taken away, while we were still drinking water and coffee, we were asked to pay the bill and leave cause they needed the space for another group that was already seated. When I mentionned that I felt that it was rude to be pushed out the door, I was told we were finished eating and the restaurant was small. When I paid the bill, and chose to not leave a predetermined tip and give a cash tip instead to the one waiter that treated us well, I was told to keep my two kids at home and cook for them, and that if I ever came back they would not serve me and only give me take out. These interactions were rude and not customer service oriented and were shockingly with the owners. I would definitely not recommend going especially with the amount of quality breakfast places in Montreal. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly at all, was even told to stay at home with my two kids and cook for them
If only I could give it a 0 star. Very rude owners, very whatever food and overpriced. We were rushed throughout and screamed at. These people should not be in the service industry. Do yourself a favour and go across street to Cafe Toranj for a wonderful experience.
Delicious food, great service, nice ambience, good price. What more do you want?
Really a perfect little neighbourhood diner. Impressive fruit side with the breakfast; Id give them a higher score on food quality if say, they made their own hollandaise, but this is not that kind of place - which is great imho. Overall, excellent at what it does, glad to see it.
Good food but kind of expensive
Ordered through DoorDash, really disappointed with food quality. Just not worth it for the price.
I have been going to Oxford Cafe for over 20 years. Moe and his wife make sure that every dish is perfection. I am so happy to report that they still have the best pancakes in the city. Community oriented, great prices and wonderful food...what more could you ask for?!
Best chicken sandwich Ive ever had. Soft, hot chicken makes all the difference
Great food. Nice covered terrace. A little bit expensive for breakfast or brunch, but tasty.
The owners need some people skills
The waiter is arrogant... The food is good though.
Good place for Brunch
The Oxford Cafe was a very cute experience. Their menu was quite expensive and reasonably priced. Great place for all day breakfast
Nice quaint little spot. We stopped by with my toddler. She loved the pancakes and so did I. Ill return for the pancakes for sure. I would disagree with comments on prices. All restaurants had to adjust post covid
The woman working there has a horrible attitude and should stay home. Sadly the food is good, I will not be returning.
Food is mediocre at best and the coffee tasted like dish water. The place also carries an outdated and distasteful atmosphere inside and outside. Prices are also outrageous. I was charged $57 for two main dishes; which werent even good to begin with.
Nice neighbourhood restaurant and Extremely friendly staff
rude attitude to the client , the woman who own the place; Also, Poor, late and incorrect service. Even forcing to give tip!
The breakfast menu is extensive and the poached eggs are great! Good food for reasonable price, cute seating area. The main disagreement ruining the experience is the rude owner. I am still a little traumatized. She is barking at customers and staff alike. Then she tried to tip herself on my credit card. I think I am just going to order delivery to avoid seeing this women again. If you think I am overreacting, read the dozens of other reviews also pointing out the worst customer service experience provided by the owner.
Ordered pancakes, eggs, sausage, toast, potatoes, and a fruit plate through Uber Eats. I absolutely loved everything. Both my friend and I described the food as nostalgic and familiar. It reminded me of the breakfasts my grandmother would make. The fruit plate was also really impressive! Tons of fruit you would never expect like lychee! Everything was packed well and still warm. Only suggestion I have is to provide a bit more syrup for the pancakes since they are so large! :)
Great place for breakfast or any other meal. Service is great. Very friendly.
Very expensive
I WANNA PUT 0 STAR BUT UNFORTUNATELY I DON T HAVE THE OPTION . THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER
Went here with a friend that has kids for breakfast. Not amazing, even the kids were like meh. Really nothing special here.
Great breakfast! Tasty, harty, prepared fresh and quick before your eyes. Interior is homey and cozy and I was welcomed with a smile. I will not only return, but Ill look forward to my next dining experience here
Quality of the food was great.
Grumpy people serving bad cappuccinos. I heard the food is good but I will never know cause I m never going back there
Very good and typical of what I expected from Montreal for an egg and bacon. Very helpful and fast, a treat
Great staff, best burgers in town and they are always on time !
Excellent lunch at a reasonable price. I recommend the pancakes which are delicious.
The host is very friendly and the food was good.and I got a second cup of coffee.
Too expensive. Service could improve.
Love this place
Brunch at any time!! Very decent in terms of quality and very reasonable in terms of price. A little more joie de vivre wouldnt hurt, but hey.
A warm and cosy atmosphere that enlightens your mood to dine and digest a well balanced meal. Hospitality is present by the owners and staff. Cheers
The owners are super nice and the good is amazing! I highly recommend coming here!
Nice selection of things to have for brunch or lunch. Friendly staff. Outdoor tables.
Worst service, the lady asked me to leave after an hour, to make way for future customers, even though there were 2 tables out of 5 still available. Lack of professionalism, I find this very unfortunate with the current situation, I wanted to encourage local businesses!!!
Before choosing a restaurant I always look at the comments first and then the way you respond to your customers on this page is completely unacceptable. When several people complain about your service and food you need to change things and not tell them that they are wrong and that your restaurant is the best. You are pitiful.
Bad food with unnecessary charges. Bad food represents the taste which is not fresh specially fruits on the side and although I asked owner that I had my wisdom tooth removed and she replied that we has best soft pancakes but the I cant even eat that(so my friends eat that who said that its normal but not soft if owner are going to write up another lie). I am sorry if you didnt see anything left on the table as we tried not to waste food in our tradition and as getting really late for camping so we decided to eat and go plus I am really sorry if there was some food left over table as we didnt intend to waste any and some we throw too like smoothies. I didnt intend to write all this but you have to raise your voice against lies. I hope you will always welcome your 100 percent guest equally and not 99 percent and going through your reviews I don t think so much people like it over there. Please stop stalking me to Facebook too, its wierd. I hope you understand and make better changes to your cafe and hopefully everyone enjoys over there.
Poor costumer service, rude owner and unsuitable dishes for serving the meals
Interesting menu, affordable price. A crepe lunch with choice of two fruits and coffee is perfect.
Ok
Social scene rocks
Very good service! Kids friendly! Kids share a yummy ice cream topped with plenty of fruits. My cappuccino was delicious!
The breakfast is awful, small portion, fruits were tired looking and tasteless. Eggs average. Bread portion small. Overpriced, service ok and will definitely not return.
Placed an order through Foodora and not only did it take 1 hour and 15 minutes to make and send over three pieces of French Toast, but this has also got to be the worst French Toast I have eaten in my life. It is basically an omelette stuck to a piece of white bread, disgusting.
Best pancakes in town, EPIC!! The staff is always super friendly. Absolutely recommend it
