Went to the Secrets Christmas themed pop bar that is part of Kwizinn, in their basement. Paid 40$ just to book, it did not come back to me after nor did it get any kind of drinks or food items. Drinks were not bad, but nothing special. Mold wine with sugar cane and some Old Fashioned with a cookie. They are about 18$ each… The pizza was a small 6” pizza. That was 18$… We left as soon as we could and went to a different place. Not worth it!

Located in Old Port, Kwizinn’s brunch combines delicious Caribbean flavors with classic breakfast staples. This Haitian-inspired gem delivers a bursting experience that’s as flavorful as it is unique 😮‍💨 The brunch menu features a variety of unique dishes. We had: ✨ Chef Lafaille's Griot with fried plantains and pikliz ✨ Octopus Carpaccio ✨ Oysters ✨ Arctic Char Tartare ✨ Pollo Pan de queijo ✨ Chakchouka ✨ Prime Rib Toast with Truffle ✨ 3 Cheeses Mac N Cheese ✨ Pancake coco The restaurant also offers a great selection of cocktails and wines, perfect for pairing with your meal. Especially unlimited Mimosas with your brunch 🥂

Lovely space, went on a slow monday (great for me), but lively Thr-Sun with live music. Food is great, but quite spicy! Definitely not child friendly as there are not too many options available.

I can’t speak for authenticity but their menu was leaning much more into fusion than Haitian. That being said, the foie gras was superb alongside the sweet guava. Duck breast was cooked to perfection Not pictured we ask had arctic char tartare which was one of the best fish tartares I’ve had in a while : well balanced, fresh and the right amount of spice. However, dessert was good but nothing special. Service was excellent and friendly. We came during the MTL à table festival. The server was telling us that this menu was a test run for their next full menu. If that’s the case, this restaurant is worth a stop!

I recently visited this restaurant and was quite impressed with the atmosphere and the overall dining experience. The ambiance was welcoming, and the decor was thoughtfully designed, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. The presentation of the food was also outstanding—each dish looked like a piece of art. However, when it comes to the taste and portion sizes, I was somewhat disappointed. While the food was visually appealing, it didn't quite deliver on flavor, especially considering the price point. The portions were on the smaller side, which left me wanting more, particularly given how much they charge. Overall, it's a nice spot for the ambiance and presentation, but there's room for improvement in terms of taste and value for money.

I took my fiancé to dinner at Kwizinn to celebrate our anniversary last Saturday. We had arrived 15 minutes late due to traffic , and we apologized for missing our reservation, we were told it was no worries and were seated immediately with a smile. My fiancé and I started off by ordering an espresso martini and a Cucumber Mojito as well as appetizers pictured below, I had gotten the empanadas while she had gotten the oysters. Both appetizers were delicious, the empanadas were rich and fluffy, while the oysters were tangy with a smooth finish. The mains were the Pork chop (my dinner) and the Lobster Poutine (Fiancé’s Dish). The Pork Chop was savoury and crunchy thanks to the garnish on top, meanwhile my fiancé stated that the lobster was fresh, and the seasoning on the poutine was full of flavour. We ended off our meal with tostadas paired with a Birds Eye sauce, as well as the chocolate cake. A perfect way to end off the night. Overall loved the experience at Kwizinn , most definitely a restaurant you need to visit whenever you are in town, will definitely be coming back.

If you came here looking for Caribbean inspired food. This is not the restaurant that you should come too. The style of the restaurant is great. Food is plated great. The food itself was horrible it has no taste what so ever, not even salt. I complained to the server which was really nice, and he got the owner. The owner came out and was really offended and rude. Claimed there is no salt and seasoning on the food so people can add their own. Also the owner stated No one has complained about the plantain burger before. Hence all the 1 star reviews regarding the food. I still decided to give them a chance. The owner said well what do you want me to do about that, not even offering to take items off our bill. As an owner of a restaurant she should be receptive to constructive criticism. Probably that's why the restaurant has no one inside. The owner clearly is not Caribbean so don't expect much from the food. The food does not cater to the Caribbean cuisine what so ever. The staff was really nice but do not recommend food is pricy.

This restaurant was recommended to me for my birthday and I had the biggest disappointment yet. We arrived and tables and chairs were missing. We waited over 2 hours for drinks and some never arrived on our tables. I had 20 guests and only one server who was doing a poor job of serving us... really deplorable. When the food came, it had no Caribbean taste. Aside from the name of the restaurant, frankly, the menu should be reviewed. I advise you not to go there. Dietary restrictions: I mentioned when making my reservation that I had seafood allergies and the majority of dishes served did. My guests were able to taste it, but I spent half the service without eating anything.

Superb evening with friends, we had the tasting menu and everything was excellent, the only negative point is your draft beer! A restaurant of your class should not serve such poor quality beer, it really ruins your reputation! After changing the barrel we had beers with such a large deposit of yeast inside that it was undrinkable! Yes we had a can of beer as a replacement but the damage had already been done! I would have given 5* .

I went last night with my daughter to celebrate an event, our reservation was at 7 p.m. We were placed next to a window where we could smell the air, my daughter kept her coat on all evening. My bad, I should have left a comment, we would surely have been moved. Beautiful and good cocktail...I had a zuzu, spicy without exaggeration, just perfect. The food and quantities were excellent. We shared everything: as a starter, bao fall of bone sandwiches and chefs griot with pikliz and weighed bananas and then a dish of Bourbon-smoked Cornish chicken and curry sauce which we accompanied with yuka (cassava) fries. ). We didnt have room for dessert next time. Very nice decor and good music. We recommend both.

I went on a sunday night with 2 friends. And its their cuban night. The cuban music was so loud that we had to yell for the servers to hear us and they had to yell back in our ears. Really did not enjoy that athmosphere. Was the music good? Yes, but the noise level is wayy to high. Altough the restaurant call itself carribean fusion, I knew the chef is Haitian, so I had faith that the food would be good. But oh my. We ordrered accra, oysters and boa buns as starters. The oysters were fresh and good. The accra was burnt and undercooked, probably because the oil temperature was too high, and frankly its a disgrace to call that an accra. For main course, We had the fish with djondjon rice, the burger and the pork chop. There was a big chunck of epis in the fish (see picture) . The fries in the burger were burnt (see pictures). The pork chops were ok though. For the riz djondjon, I get that it was late, but we only got Graten (overcooked crispy rice for the non haitians reading). It would have been better if they told us that they are out of djondjon rice. Paying 9$ for a small bowl of graten is crazy man. We also ordered 3 coktails that were good. We ended up paying about 300$ for an experience that we did not enjoy at all. Maybe it was a bad night for them. But I will not come back. Wheelchair accessibility: Stairs to get in.

I have been frequenting this restaurant since its beginnings on Plaza Saint-Hubert, then passing through Verdun. I went to their new location at the old port and I have to say I was disappointed for the first time. I had the cabrit which in my opinion has always been one of their best dishes and I could barely take a few bites as the taste was not there. The new Accra recipe also leaves something to be desired in my humble opinion. On the other hand, I loved the yucca fries. The classic buger plantain is still just as good. The fish recipe has also been completely modified: (I find that the recipes have really lost their authenticity, probably with the aim of pleasing the masses due to the new location, but still disappointed not to find the flavors that I was used to it. However, very nice restaurant, excellent location with a nice atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. I find the price of the plates quite competitive for such a beautiful restaurant in the heart of the old port.

I went for a lunchtime brunch during mtl a table. We had two tofu dishes, 2 griot dishes and 2 cod dishes.... Unfortunately it was disappointing. We didnt like the menu. We took starters in addition to empanadas of griot deserve a sauce its a little dry. It wasnt our cup of tea. The cod dish.... I looked for cod for a long time and didnt find too much sauce on the foccasia. The tofu was bland. The djon rice with garlic and griot although it is tender, very bland. The atmosphere and the place is beautiful, the service is correct. Also, if you come with children there is no menu for them. There is absolutely no value for money. After a hefty bill we left hungry

Update location in the Old port The decor and the bar was really nice Service was good, the waitress was nice, the oysters were lovely. We got the bao bun, it was really good, the griot and the goat, we were surprised that the goat didnt come with anything and for it to be 45$, i wasnt able to eat it because of the harsh smell. Ive eaten goat before and the smell was bever this harsh, waitress didnt recommend us to get sides, the only side we had was 3 pieces of plantain with the griot It would have been nice for her to let us know maybe we wouldnt have ordered 2 meat plates Also we were the last ones there and we felt like we were getting stared at to leave by all the employees, and it made us feel uncomfortable even one of the employees asked my friend if she can move from her chair because they wanted to clean and rearrange the table while we were still there. After having to pay over 200$ each I think they could have been abit more courteous towards there clientele Cute little Carribean place. We were 2 ppl and we got the shared plate for 2 but it was alot. It was nice to have different stuff on the platter to try but definitely alot to share for 2 ppl, I wish they had told us that the portions are insanely big. The food itself was so good, the only bad part was that the crab was overcooked. They have the meat or the seafood platter that you can chose from, we chose the meat,on the platter we had okra, plantain, griot, lamb, steak, crab, octopus, arrancini, rice, salad and a few dipping sauces. We got mojitos as drinks, the drinks were average If we do go back with will probably be a bigger group to share the platter, or we would get out own plate. Plus it would cost you cheaper if you get your own plate. The sharable plate was 130$ and it was expensive for just 2 ppl This place was full when we went and it was very noisy you can hear other ppls conversation because everyone was talking to loud and cant really hear the person in front of you. This place is good for big groups I find They have a very small bar area. The cocktails were ok The service was pretty good, they were nice.

I went to kwizin restaurant and it was a very disappointment. They are promoting chef choice for $75 per person which is a rape off. I spent $216 and still walked out hungry cause the food was horrible and my server lied about how spicy the food was. And when I asked to speak with a manager he said no one was available to talk to 30 seconds later another customer requested to speak with a supervisor but minutes after that left the restaurant. For the first time I did not tip my server this is how terrible the food and the service were

I discovered this restaurant with Caribbean flavors in Old Montreal. The decor is magnificent and the dishes served are elegant. Im not a fan of spicy food, so I had to check every ingredient. The waitress understood and the kitchen was vigilant. So, it s a restaurant for lovers of spicy dishes. I ate a fish bao and it was really good. I ordered fried yuka to change traditional fries and it changes the taste palettes. I find it a shame not to have had the chance to order a great mocktail with fruity flavors because they dont have any. If you are looking for a Caribbean atmosphere, also watch their musical programming for hot evenings.

We wanted to try the Kwizinn Vieux Port because we were huge fans of the one in Verdun. Positive points: -Beautiful restaurant, clean, nice tables & chairs. -Very good service - Food as good as before (gryo plate) On the other hand, I find it disappointing to have to order extra sticky rice when I order a plate of gryo which only includes platinum & pikliz. Who doesnt eat rice stuck with their gryo? I understand, maybe they have to raise the prices, fine, but offer me a complete plate a little more expensive, certainly, but with all the elements that this dish should include. Finally, very sad not to have found the gryo mac & cheese... it was different and so good. In summary, its good but its not as authentic as before in my opinion.

We went to celebrate a birthday on September 29th. The meal was delicious. However, the waitress lacked experience, she made a mistake about our when it came time to pay, she never came to check, if we were missing anything on our table after serving the meals, we had to call out to the other servers to complete our order. When we asked her a question, she had difficulty guiding us in our choices. In addition, we appreciated the atmosphere of the restaurant however, on several occasions we mentioned to our waitress to ask the musicians to turn down the sound unfortunately nothing was done, us. We ate and left the restaurant to go talk in the parking lot since we couldnt hear each other talk.

Update - September 2024 First visit since moving to the old port. We opted for the tasting platter, which allowed us to taste a little bit of everything. Ideal for having a good time. Discovered through the series Meanwhile in the kitchen on Prime, I couldnt wait to taste this Caribbean Kwizinn. For cocktails, if you dont drink alcohol like me, the waitress (very attentive) will make you something. Everything looked good on the menu and the three of us went to the Chefs Choice Tasting Platter to be able to taste as many things as possible, it was so full that we had trouble finishing. There was griot, rice, shrimp, cassava croquette, snow crab etc. and we were not disappointed. Shall we go back? Oh yes because the rest of the menu is worth testing (especially the goat) :)

Super nice evening with friends at the Kwizinn restaurant, everything was absolutely perfect I was on my 3rd visit, but first time at this new location in Old Montreal. The place is particularly warm, it s beautiful, it s clean, the staff is smiling and welcoming. The place has a magnificent, well-stocked bar and the cocktails are original and tasty (we tried the zuzu cocktail and the grenade cocktail, unfortunately I dont remember the exact names anymore ). We shared an octopus carpaccio whose seasoning (a type of pesto/gremolata) was perfectly balanced. Subsequently, the friend I was with ordered tender and tasty lamb served with a type of barley in a slightly spicy sauce (cooked risotto style), for my part, I was able to taste some cabrit accompanied by a little sauce, the latter was also very well seasoned, as well as weighed bananas. The portions being more than generous, we did not have room for dessert, but the menu looked very appetizing We will therefore surely return there to taste and try other dishes as well as listen to good music.

The meal was beyond our expectations. The oysters were fresh and perfectly prepared, the carpaccio incredible, the griot so tender that it melted in your mouth and the fish bao sublime. For dessert, I let myself be tempted by the tiramisu kremas. WoW! I invite you to discover Kwizinn. Its definitely worth it! There are jazz and Cuban evenings with orchestra. Mesi anpil and see you soon, Maria. It was my first meeting and wow what a magnificent place to discover! Incredible food, a singer on site with music from the Islands! I felt like I was on vacation! Went in for dinner with my wife and we found one of the dishes a bit over done and we mentioned it to our server. She was outright rude and told us even though we didnt like it we have to pay for it.... sad part to see rudness in the hospitality industry. We paid for 2 appetizers and left the restaurant hungry. Especially rice and mac and cheese who tend to be so disappointing when not well seasoned. To start with the pikliz there are two kinds and we were able to taste each one, it was really a 10/10 delight! Now the veggie acras for me was a 2/10 and for my husband it was therefore 5/10. The main dishes, I had the gourmet burger, it was good and I had already seen that on social networks it was one of the most popular dishes so I give it a 7/10. To finish the fish of the day my husband found it edible but nothing more. He was really disappointed and rated it 3/10. Otherwise in terms of aesthetics and atmosphere it was nice. Its clean and its beautiful. The service was okay. I had a non-alcoholic drink and the flavors were 8/10. Great to experience authentic Haitian food in such a classy environment. I love the modern twist of the menu while also highlighting our traditional food. Having been to the different Kwizinn locations, from the one that closed on Saint-Hubert to Verdun, I am happy to see how much it has evolved. It s a great place to introduce non-Haitians to our food

My recent experience at this restaurant was disappointing, particularly due to the bill and the waitresss behavior when we asked for explanations. Firstly, when we asked if the restaurant had childrens meals, the waitress said no but suggested the steak fries. Looking at the menu, we saw that the fries were $12, but no information was given on the price of the steak. So we ordered two steak fries. To our great surprise, the bill came to a total of $370 including $190 for 2 steak fries which were to serve as a childrens menu. When we asked the waitress for an explanation, she turned away and refused to provide us with clear information on how the bill was calculated. This lack of transparency and the lack of courtesy on the part of the staff made our experience particularly unpleasant. We will not return there and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a pleasant meal without unpleasant surprises in the bill. Reggie

We ate outside because all the tables inside were reserved. We placed our orders and waited more than 45 minutes before our plates arrived. During that wait outside, we had to Inhale the exhaust from cars driving right by. The portions were small for the price paid. (That is a cliche for a pricy $$$ restaurant). The Alloco I received, based on my order, was burnt; completely black. The plantains were overly ripped. I was too tired to say anything about it to the waitress given that I drove more than 7 hours from the USA. Being accustomed to real Ivorian (Côte D Ivoire) and Haitian cuisine, we were not thrilled with what we got. However, we will give it an average rating. On the other hand, the atmosphere and the waiters/waitresses were friendly. I will highly recommend staying indoors for anyone who wants to avoid car exhaust inhalation. Parking: There is a paid parking lot just feet away. Wheelchair accessibility: Dining out only. I didnt see a wheelchair access for the inside.

I also tasted the passionfruit mojito which was super tasty, but the drink of the moment, a cucumber and jalapeño deliciousness, stole the show. Not only is the food fantastic, but the decor is beautiful, the music is well chosen and the service is impeccable. Our waitress was fun, super nice and friendly while still professional. GREASY FOOD We sat outside in the patio and they never brought forks or napkins, we had to ask for them. We ordered some plantain (as seen in photo) which was greasy and burnt, didnt taste good. The other entree we ordered were some yuca fries which the server brought wrong and 30 min later brought the correct plate. However the servers were really nice and welcoming, improving the experience. Still, we ate amd had no plates for the entrees and had to place our food in the napkins.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing first experience. The food is not bad but excessively expensive, more luxurious places are around the same price. ($113.20 for two shared starters and a main course without wine.) The bad experience also comes down to very, very slow and visibly overwhelmed staff. Allow 40 minutes for three cocktails, 50 minutes for the first starters and a request for a bottle of sparkling water which never arrived. Its a disappointment and I really dont recommend it.

This was undoubtedly the best dining experience I ve ever had. The food was exceptional, and despite being tapas, the portion sizes were generous. Each dish was incredibly flavorful, highlighting the rich diversity of Haitian and Caribbean cuisine. The staff was outstanding, providing excellent guidance on food and drink pairings. The evening was enhanced by live jazz music, and the pricing was reasonable given the location in Old Montréal. I plan to return whenever I visit Montreal this restaurant is a must-try. STORY TIME with Kwizinn Restaurant Bar Last night, we went on a little family outing downtown. After attending a festive event, we decided to go to a restaurant. Having heard about the Kwizinn restaurant recently, I suggested we go there. The others agreed and we went there. When we arrived, we asked the waiter, who was very courteous, if it was not too late as it was around 9:30 p.m. He assured us it was no problem. So we settled in, but quickly realized that if we stayed outside the service would be long. So we decided to go inside, and everything went well. The welcome was so warm that we had nothing to complain about. When we were handed the menus, we asked the waitress a few questions, who answered them kindly, and then placed our order. As there were several of us, we chatted to pass the time. We noticed that other people who arrived at the same time as us were already served, but our order was slow in arriving. I called the waitress to ask if there was a problem, and she admitted that maybe they had made a mistake. I told him it was his kindness that still held me back. Around 11:05 p.m., we were brought almost cold and poorly presented dishes. The waitress really tried to apologize, and I tried to stay calm. She offered us a shot as compensation, to do it at first I accepted, but I observed the attitude of the manager. Afterwards I told the waitress that I didnt want it, that I wanted to speak with the manager instead. Unfortunately, the manager never showed up, despite our request. Finally she gave us a $20 discount, explaining that she was busy. Do you know what she was doing? She told jokes with her friends. Guys, I found this so disrespectful that I went to her. She wouldnt let me explain the situation to her, telling me that she didnt have to come see me since she had given me a discount. The part of the video where you see her calmer is when she noticed my brother taking out his phone to film because she was being too arrogant. If you look closely in the video, you will see that she was taking shots. How dare you provide such poor service and disrespect to your customers? FRANKLY IM TIRED WITH SOME WHO THINK THEY CAN DISRESPECT ANYONE CHUIPPPZZZZ. THIS WOMAN SHOULD NOT BE RUNNING A BUSINESS SORRY. SHE HAS NO PROFESSIONALISM, NO RESPECT FOR HER CUSTOMERS. SHE RUNS THE RESTAURANT ACCORDING TO HER MOOD AND HER CHOICES. BUT I BELIEVE SHE DIDNT KNOW WHO SHE WAS IN BUSINESS WITH.

Very poor customer service. The poorly educated manager disrespected customers. Very arrogant, wild, disrespectful. You will no longer see the color of my money.

Kwizinn was the best meal we had on our entire trip! Our server was very friendly and attentive, she went above and beyond to provide the best experience for us on our last night in Montreal. If i could give the atmosphere 6 stars i would!! The restaurant in the evening usually has amazing live music or a Dj. It has a fun, bustling atmosphere while maintaining its upper scale image. Me and my Fiance had never tried a Caribbean french fusion restaurant before and were pretty hesitant, but the menu was easy to follow and English-friendly for those who dont speak french. I had the lobster poutine, and the portions, and flavours were out of this world. It was overall an amazing experience, we will definitely be coming back

Arriving at the restaurant around 9:30 p.m., we sit outside. The waiter, very courteous, says he will be back in a minute. After 10 minutes we go back inside. He apologizes, menu in hand, he takes us back. However, we ask him to stay indoors. He accepts. A waitress, very friendly and attentive, directs us to our table. We quickly placed our order. Unfortunately, around 10:40 p.m., the waitress noticed that we still had not received our dishes and headed to the kitchen. After checking, she informed us that there had been an error in the kitchen, our dishes were being prepared immediately. She apologizes for this incident and says she will talk to the manager about it. She comes back and informs that the manager is offering us 3 shots. We refuse them! We were served around 11:00 p.m. This long wait took away our appetite. To our great surprise the food was cold and not at all to our taste (the djon djon rice was not djon djon, it clearly tasted like Maggi djon djon cube, very salty to taste). We express our dissatisfaction to the waitress. She goes back to see the manager, who, by the way, THROUGHOUT the situation is at the bar with acquaintances/friends chatting and taking shots without having taken the time to look at us once! The waitress comes back and mentions that the manager is subtracting $9 from our bill (total cost of around $130). We ask to speak to him. She refuses under the pretext of being busy . We pay the entire bill. One of us went towards her to talk to her, and expressed her contempt for us. She argues and raises her voice. She adds that she is not obliged to come see us considering that she got a discount and invites us to leave. She tries to hold back when she sees that she is being filmed. This altercation could have been avoided if the manager had a touch of professionalism!! Moreover, we see her take a shot during the filmed exchange.

We were looking for a nice restaurant that served Caribbean food. After seeing their Instagram page we chose this restaurant. The atmosphere and decor is very good, however the food is fusion type so we were disappointed by the lack of taste and the dishes we had (dry griot, no sauce to accompany the dish; the fish tasted unpleasant tangy; the composition of the very ordinary shrimp salad: unseasoned shrimp and more peppers than anything else). We had ordered a drink and asked to have the juice separated so that we could measure the cocktail ourselves and we were charged for the alcohol in addition to the juice. When we asked the waitress why she couldnt answer us. We will not return.

It was average. My wife ordered the chicken, and they burned it. She said it was dry. It didnt look like what others had on their pics on here. They also didnt provide a half chicken, just wings and drumsticks. Felt like we didnt get value on our order here. I ordered the burger, and it was really good. The fries were the driest fries I ever ate in my life. It was unedible though. Overcooked was a regular theme with the food, even the plantains were dry. I didnt make for an enjoyable dining experince. Even the djon djon rice wasnt djon djon rice. We were confused at what we were served. The atmosphere was nice. I was thinking that Id come back and order the appetizer plate before the food came. I think Ill pass instead.

Fall-off-the-bone kabrit! Where to begin? It was honestly such a fun night. The place looks amazing. Its very immersive and it feels like were entering a fancy grave. I loved the music by A$h Banks; it was top-tier selections nonstop! The food was so tasty, really well-seasoned and exceptional. Each dish was so unique and well-executed. We had 2 cocktails which were very delicious and potent! The mac & cheese was baked and creamy, and it didnt taste like water, as opposed to 99.9% of other places where they serve mac & cheese. It was really authentic and comforting. My discovery is the octopus carpaccio - let me tell you this one is a show stopper. SO fresh. And it was topped with a bruschetta-like sauce and focaccia. It was so unexpected and daring to compose a dish like that, but the tastes blended so well together, and it was also topped with mashed avocado. SO creative. I recommend this dish to everyone! The kabrit was G.O.A.T. It came with shishito peppers and it was literally the most tender kabrit I have ever tasted in my entire life. It just fell appart and melted like butter in my mouth. The griyo was outstanding! This dish is very authentic and simple, but it is executed exceptionally by Chef Mike Lafaille. The pikliz was pikliz! Very delicious and its just what you hope for and more. We also ordered allocco which was just a delight! They use the sweet, ripe plantain and it was such a perfect addition to our dishes. I find the the menu is ecclectic and unexpected, but there is definitely caribbean tastes and influence in every dish Ive tasted. I find it so rare to find fusion restaurants that make sense and Kwizinn makes sense! Its really well-executed and it was worth every penny. Dont go there without an open mind. Its truly an experience and they also do brunch and have fun events. I also appreciate that they were very family-friendly. We came with a baby and they didnt make us feel uncomfortable, which some fancy restaurants can sometimes make you feel like and inconvenience if you have a family or young baby, but it was not the case at Kwizinn. Its very welcoming. The service was great! I could feel the passion in every person who served us. It shows that they love what they do. They tended to our needs and were super friendly. I love that its a chic environment, but its also very warm and loving. A huge shoutout to Claudia who is such a great host and made me feel at home! This one is already a staple in the city. Its so worth it. I cant wait to go back and try more dishes. Im really proud that we have such an institution here in Montreal. Bravo to everyone involved! Fantastic experience. Will recommend and tell everyone. Parking: Theres a paid parking right beside the restaurant which is perfect! We didnt want a headache looking for parking so it was really nice and worth the 23$ for the night. And the valet was also really nice and helpful! Kid-friendliness: They didnt make us feel like an inconvenience because we had a baby. Im happy that baby got to experience Kwizinn with us, even in such a classy environment. Baby felt right at home!

Quite disappointed as a first experience. I will start with the positive, the service was very good (excellent server) and the atmosphere is good. I had a starter of cod accras for $20 which was not worth it at all (value for money). Then, I find it deplorable that the main dishes ($35-$50) do not come with a side of rice or plantains. You have to pay extra for a side dish ($6-$10). Besides, I was amazed at the price of the pikliz at $6 (note that a pot of pikliz for around ten servings sells for $7). In short, I understand that rent must be expensive in the old port, but these prices are not worth the quality of the food.

Then the waitress presents us the menu, and you have to see it to believe it but its a Haitian/Caribbean menu reinvented to perfection, its good because we find the tastes and flavors that we love but better!! We were treated to a live classical music band!! The decor is worthy of a gourmet restoration, you can see that the owner put in the time!! After his appearance on the cooking show on Prime and his stand at the Festival Latino at the Old Port in 2023, I was curious to visit his new establishment!! The waitress had small options with us, it was great!! As a starter, I recommend the BAO, it s mega good!! Overall we see that this is the beginning of the revolution in the Haitian culinary world in Montreal and I am very proud to have encouraged them!! Enjoy your meal everyone!! Came here for dinner last week. We tried a couple cocktails, chicken wings, the fried rice with shrimps, some extra fried pork and the lambi. The seasoning and cooking on every dish was on point. The lambi was a bit too spicy. Our favourite was definitely the fried rice. It comes on a grilled pineapple. Service and ambiance was just ok.

The Haitian restaurant Kwizinn, nestled in the charming setting of the Old Port (311 rue Saint Paul Est), is a true gastronomic gem that will delight the most demanding palates. From the first bite of tomahawk meat, you will be transported by its deliciously juicy and flavorful taste. The perfect harmony between Caribbean seasonings and spices offers an incomparable taste experience. The griot and the weighed banana are exquisite and remarkable dishes that literally melt in the mouth. The fierce avocado was absolutely excellent. Each bite was an explosion of perfectly balanced flavors, showcasing the avocado in innovative and delicious ways. And what about desserts? An oh my god with every bite! Each sweet treat is a perfect marriage of spices and flavors, especially raspberry and coconut which will leave you with an unforgettable memory. Kwizinn is much more than just a restaurant, it is an authentic culinary experience that transports you directly to the heart of Haitian culture. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant to all lovers of inventive and quality cuisine.

Love the updated decor, design and location. The upgrades definitely match the Old Port easthetics and the food is just as good. I wish they had kept the discovery/to share item but understand the concept changed. I would highly recommend for a date night, group event or if youre just curious and want to try new flavors!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Kwizinn du Vieux-Port. In my opinion this place is overrated. The dishes were bland and the fish sauce was bitter when first tasted. Fortunately, the chef changed it later, which pleased me. The waitress, despite a few oversights, was friendly and handled the situation well. However, I found that the $75 per person menu would have been more appropriate for our group of 7, instead of the individual order that was required. turned out to be very expensive. Paying $8 for extra pikliz? Who does this in our community? At a minimum, make sure the service is of impeccable quality from start to finish. Unfortunately, I felt like this place and those who knew my cousins and family were not meant for me. Maybe the target clientele is from another community, who knows. For more than $200 per person, I expect a whole new level of service. My cousins, who knew the owner, told me they received a delicious grapefruit cocktail when they arrived. Having arrived later due to traffic, I would also have liked to taste this cocktail and learn more. When the owner walked past us, I said to him, as we had done earlier with my cousins: Hey friend! twice. However, he ignored me by turning his back as if he hadnt heard anything. In other words, I would under no circumstances recommend this place to my clientele, my friends or my family as a reference in cuisine Haitian. We are much friendlier and warmer, without contempt or ignorance... and especially not with a bill of $150 to $175 per person.

Incredible experience, we are regulars at Kwizinn Verdun and what a pleasure this experience is but in a setting worthy of old Montreal, varied music from the 90s which only makes us want to dance while eating. The food is excellent and better than many other restaurants of the same caliber. The owners are of incomparable kindness which only makes you want to go back to see them and spend the evening with them. Another 5 thumbs up! I recommend to everyone!

I have already been to the one in St-hubert, the one in Verdun and yesterday was the first time to the one in the Old Port. It was excellent!! The place is great! Classy! The service always impeccable. What can we say about the new menu, delicious and you will definitely come back to try something else. Once again Hats off to the new place!!!

I had the chance to taste the old Kwizinn in Verdun which was delicious! UNFORTUNATELY THE ONE FROM THE OLD PORT left me with a taste of DISAPPOINTMENT The food was COLD: lukewarm rice, soft bananas my goat was barely warm on the outside and cold on the inside and so tough it was impossible to eat it anymore there had 1 blonde curly hair in my plate unable!!!! The drinks ordered were terrible (cocoyé and a vegan rosé drink). They changed the formula and now all dishes must be ordered separately your main dish does not come with rice or anything else everything must be ordered individually even the sauces. The prices are incredibly high for what you get. TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT! I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! if you just want to have a good time with friends because you have nothing to do go there because the decor and the atmosphere are pleasant but if not AVOID!!!

This place is a perfect 10/10. It s low key and unassuming. The service was great. The food delicious. And the vibe oh the vibe!! Absolutely on point. Husband and I went for a date night. We had a great time. Great to see how this restaurant has transitioned from the verdun location to the old port. Well definitely be back!

Worst customer service ever and so disappointed with the food. I have never been there before and I saw nice things about the restaurant so I decided to try it out. I called the restaurant 2 different times ( 3 days and couple hours before going )I told them it s my husband birthday and they should bring cake & candle when I ask for dessert, (which they offer to another customer while we were there). I asked for dessert couple times and they had no clue. I let it slide because I wanted to surprise my husband, i didn t want to spell it out that I wanted cake for him. Also we didnt enjoy the food and there is no point getting something we might not like. Only for me to pay and the lady that attend to us told me I was rude for not tipping. Why should I tip when I didn t enjoy my time or service there. Or did she complete my hours at work. Will definitely not step there EVER again.

This restaurant is not for those accustomed to Haitian food. It s for those who are discovering Haitian food and don t really have any expectations. The varied menu and the atmosphere are attractive. On the other hand, the cuisine is too diluted. My dish: The stuck rice did not have its original taste and in small portion. Half of the griot was pieces of fat. The salad and cabbage took up half the plate. For $25 it s too expensive to be dissatisfied. Good: The atmosphere, the decor Not so good: flavor, price

Kwizinn is one of the best restaurants in Verdun, and Montreal as a whole! It s always on the top of my list to bring family or friends who are visiting, or if I m just in the mood for huge portions of delicious food. My go to is the griot plate (or the banh mi, if I m hungry), and the wings are amazing! But, there hasn t been anything that I ve tried on the menu that hasn t been great. Mike, Claudia, and the staff are second to none for hospitality; they will make sure you have an amazing time! Oh, and by far, the best ti punch cocktail in the city

Went out with some friends for the night and wanted to try something new. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. The staff was nice and served us with a big smile. We took the big platters, one meat and one fish and did not regret it. Its a bit pricey but worth it. Like and follow for more honest reviews

Our dining experience encompassed an assortment of dishes, including jerk wings, oxtail, mac & griot, riz jon jon shrimp, griot ak riz collé et plantain, complemented by banana & coconut fritters with evaporated milk for dessert. The culinary journey was pleasantly surprising, marked by the exceptional flavor profiles of the jerk wings and the fritters, which stood out for their delectable taste. However, the oxtail dish did not meet our expectations. The preparation fell short, as the meat was tough and challenging to detach from the bone, detracting from the overall dining experience. Moreover, the serving consisted of merely two pieces of oxtail, which seemed disproportionate to the price point. A recommendation for future preparation would be the utilization of a pressure cooker to ensure the meat is tender and more enjoyable. While the portions were somewhat modest and the rice lacked moisture, these aspects did not significantly diminish the overall satisfaction with our meal. Despite some areas for improvement, the dining experience was noteworthy, and the establishment comes recommended. We look forward to revisiting and sampling more of their menu.
