La cuisine des Caraïbes revisitée! Caribbean cuisine with a twist!
The food was lovely and the cocktails were incredible, but it all felt a tad overpriced, maybe mostly because we stuck to the chicken dishes. They were very accommodating about the seafood Allergies at the table. The plantains in particular were super flavorful. We were among the only in the restaurant, together with another group of loud patrons who were having the time of their lives (but sadly made it impossible for us to hear each other for a little bit)
Thoroughly enjoyed the Artibonite Chicken. Really tender and super well-seasoned. The griot plate was ok. The meat was too dry. The rice for both dishes were top notch.
Loved our experience at Palme! A group of friends were looking for a spot during MONTREAL PRIDE when the Village was very busy and all patios were packed. We found Palme and the staff were so friendly even though it was extraordinarily busy. We loved all the cocktails and the food. I especially loved the green papaya salad and the cod fritters. The decor is charming, the staff is lovely, the music and ambiance kept us there for a much longer time than we had planned - will definitely return on a non-pride day!
Amazing intro to Caribbean food! The surf and turf to share was delicious and very generous. Cocktail was really good as well. Service was quick and friendly (we went for dinner on a Sunday night). Music was a really good vibe and the decor inside is super pretty! Definitely recommend!
I have been here more than a few times and it never disappoints. Great food perfectly cooked and seasoned. Be sure to mention if you want spicy as the dishes are on the hotter side. Had griot and maracuya drink- amazing!
This restaurant is one of the best for Caribbean type of food. The flavours, the spiciness, the drinks are so delicious and well balanced. The service is great, the restaurant is cute too (decor wise) and they have a nice terasse in the summer. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves flavours mix with some spiciness
We had an excellent time at Palme. The service was friendly, warm and fast. The menu items were explained. The vibes of the place are nice, the music is good and not too loud. The cocktails were VERY tasty, super tropical. But the food is where Palme gets 5 stars: spicy, tasty, cooked to perfection and the portions were generous. I recommend the papaya salad and the shrimp/chorizo soup. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food provided. I will be back to try some of the tasting menus.
Update 2023: we finally visited the restaurant as a group of 5. The food and the service were ok, however the cocktails were great. The waitress forgot to tell us that iur choices were not available anymore and were replaced but they did a commercial gesture. We'll go back because we liked the place and the choices. One of the best restaurant I've tried here. The food is fresh and tasty. I think I've ordered there at least 3-4 times since the beginning of the pandemic and was never disappointed. The Jerk chicken is delicious and so is the griot. 100% recommended
Everything was good! The portions are sufficient! I loved everything, the griot, the ceviche, the fricassee!
If its really a fusion restaurant, its better to tell customers when they arrive before ordering because we were expecting a traditional griot and it was extremely expensive for what it is. We took two griots, the rice and plantains were well done but the rest was rather disappointing. It was SWEET With the addition of very small, super dry pieces of meat. In short really a waste of money it was more than $80 for two. If youre expecting a good griot, this is the wrong place. The fusion food excuse doesn t mean that mixing Thai with Haitian food will be good. It seems like they swear by the super sweet sauce and it s sad. The fried squid was not fresh, and also sweet?? The frying so thin fell off the fork. They were frozen and it made me sick.
Being of Jamaican origin, I wanted to celebrate two years of relationship with my girlfriend in this restaurant, to spend a nice evening there on a Sunday evening. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, but the place was friendly and had an interesting aesthetic. We were welcomed and placed near the window. As fans of Caribbean and African cuisine, we were curious to test the quality of the griot dish, which seemed to please many according to Google reviews. As a starter, we opted for fried squid accompanied by a salad. However, the prices were exorbitant compared to the portions and description of the dishes: $26 for the griot and $16 for the squid starter. The starter was presented in an appetizing manner. The salad had a good balance of sweet and savory, but as soon as I tasted the squid, it was a total disappointment. The texture was rubbery and springy, too much for squid that would have been fresh, and the breading was falling off. We were hopeful for the main course, however, telling ourselves that some restaurants sometimes use frozen squid, even if its not ideal. When the griot dishes arrived, we were impressed by the presentation: the griot was served with salad, sweet potatoes and raw cauliflower, accompanied by a bowl of curry rice with pickles on top. As an open-minded couple, we were ready to try a revisited griot. But upon tasting, the disappointment returned: the pieces of griot were so small that they were almost impossible to find, and they were incredibly hard and sweet, closer to glucose than to the true traditional Haitian taste. It was not a traditional griot, but a sort of mixture with a sweet sauce, the same sauce that had been used on the salad and the squid as starters. There was so much sugary liquid on the plate that we had to empty it onto another plate. In the end, it was not a griot dish, but a soup with small pieces of tough meat. When we expressed our disappointment to the waitress, she did not try to understand our remarks and pass them on to the kitchen. Instead, she told us it was fusion food and to be open-minded. To top it off, she failed to bring us an itemized invoice, and we had to correct it twice. Exhausted, we just wanted to leave, but at the end of the evening my girlfriend had an upset stomach and ended up vomiting, probably due to the quality of the squid. For a total of almost $90, we are totally disappointed and exhausted. A refund would be warranted, but regardless, we will never return and absolutely do not recommend this restaurant. Vegetarian options: There is a vegan option
I have a life-threatening allergy to sesame and nuts and have been careful to say so. The waitress was super nice and understanding, and several dishes were removed from the choices because the frying is done with sesame oil. My tartare, however, was OK it seems, and the super nice waitress even double-checked for the fried plantains (in another oil I think I was told) and for the rice and salad (which contained sesame so I didnt eat). Unfortunately, I started to feel tingling after my first bite of the tartare, which I thought was due to the spices, but upon leaving the restaurant I realized that it was indeed an allergy. I find it sad because the service and food were excellent, but maybe there was cross contamination or something in the Djon Djon croquette .. I was sick all evening and may -may go to the hospital if symptoms worsen If you read this message I am open to reimbursement for this accident.
Very good service and good food, I recommend it
I would give you the palme d or!
Excellent discovery! nothing predicted that we would one day have dinner in the Village and yet, great harm would have come to us! because here, the welcome and the service are particularly very good and the food is just as good! So dont hesitate to take a little trip there, because you will experience a culinary journey to the Caribbean country ;-)
Best place in the village! Great ambiance and wonderful staff.
I had the creole shrimp. It was amazing!
Very nice discovery, I recommend the food is very good, the service is top notch and the atmosphere is very warm.
Nice ambiance but the food is nothing special. The cod fritters were more like flour fritters, I could hardly taste any cod.. The geiot had a nice texture but bland flavor. The pata salad was plain macaroni tossed with a few greens. The grilled goat was nice though. In all, not a good price quality offering. There is much better Haitian food for much less.
Excellent food, very friendly waitresses Very pretty decor right down to the choice of plates. Nice atmosphere
Went to this restaurant for the first time, after a recommendation. The cocktails are great. I ordered the octopus on a bed of salad. It was good. However, the beef dish... Killed the evening. I asked for medium rare... I got instead a piece of leather. Meat was overcooked and the piece was full of nerve endings. Not tender at all. GF ordered shrimp with bacon. She was told they were out of bacon. But they still charged full price for the dish and didnt even offer a replacement for the missing bacon. All in all, very unpleasant experience. They were out of many items such as the duck and cold cut platter. Not going back there again. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes there are ramps in order to have access to the inside.
Things done well: - Vegan options clearly labelled. - We thought all the dishes were tasty. - The cocktails were delish, just very sweet. - Cute aesthetically. Things that could improve: -Service was pretty bad. No one refilled out water the entire time. We even had to stand up to get attention for our bills and it seemed this was the same for all tables. -It was extremely hot and there was no ac or even a fan going. -I was pretty disturbed to see fois Gras on the menu, as 7 countries have banned this dish for the extreme abuse the animals suffer - please look at how this dish is made and consider removing it from your menu.
Used to love this spot but it seems ownership or management has changed as the menu isnt the same and food quality has dropped. Not sure Ill be going back.
This is not a Haitian restaurant but a fusion of the Caribbean witg a Mediterranean twist
A surprise at the detour, a healthy stopover, a choice of cocktail with a nice non-alcoholic option. To eat or relax between two activities, the place is delicious at the end of the afternoon. The service is elegant, with smiles that are like jewels that shine and warm the soul of the biker. Personally I didnt eat but the portions are more than generous and the smile of the hosts says a lot about their flavor
This is not the first time that my friends and I visited this address. Over a period of a year, the quality of food and service has greatly declined. Last year, I would have given 5 stars everywhere. For a Thursday evening, restaurant almost empty, but thats not anyones fault. The prices have really increased, $100 for the special land and sea to share between two. Its not a special, its on the menu. A starter with 3 acras, the main course with 2 portions of rice, 4 chicken drumsticks with soft frying and 3 pieces of breaded white fish. The extra pikliz (very small pile, probably 1 or 2 oz for $6) was so little spicy that we asked for spicy sauce (a base of soy sauce for $2). The griot plate at $26 was probably the best choice for quantity/price. Lots of meat, a side of rice and plantains (very good), but the griot was sweet, a bit teriyaki style, a bit like the taste of small cocktail sausages in Chinese buffets. The service was also disappointing, the waitress really had a casual and almost contemptuous attitude, we took the drink orders from 3 out of 4 people at the table, ignoring the 4th. When serving the dishes, she came to the table with a large plate (the special for 2) and stares at us until we make room on the table, places the plate on the table and leaves. It was really uncomfortable. In short, its a shame because it was really really good before.
Loved the food, creole cuisine had the Ackee cigars and creole prawns with shrimp, both delicious and cooked to perfection great service
Beautiful restaurant in the quarter. The food was of excellent quality and presentation. Some options werent quite what we were expecting them to be. The staff were kind and friendly and the decor is really beautiful. Highly recommend! Food
Last night was my 3rd visit to this lovely restaurant. Needless to say the service is always great. What needs to be underlined are the flavory dishes they accomplish every time. Just all so savery! The mix of everything in your plate is just so well thought out. The acidity..the sweetness..the spice..all balance themselves out where every bite is just oh so delish. The plantain is to perfection. The jerk chicken ia heavenly. The salmon is one of the beat ive had. Griot just hits different to be honnest. All ive tried or shared so far is a hit. Even the vegetarian bowl is yummy. Drinks and wine also great. A must try if you havent been.
Friendly place with smiling staff, but extremely slow service. Everything we ate was good, but nothing more.
The food here is excellent! And quite copious. This is a Haitian restaurant with authentic tastes and a fancy twist. Great ambiance! A definite go-to for a classier meal in the Village.
Great food and service !! The salmon is amazing
Great food, and nice ambience. I had the Jerk Chicken special. It was so yummy. I will for sure return.
Absolutely amazing in every way. The jerk chicken comes with plantains and salad and is so flavourful. The service was great and so were the drinks I will definitely be coming back
Excellent food, excellent service
The food is incredible & the cocktails are well made!
Super good restaurant, visited on April 20, 2024 and the food was perfect and sublime.
Amazing food that s beautifully served, good beats and great cocktails!
Jerk chicken is a beloved dish with a unique blend of spices and flavors. When the preparation falls short, it can be disappointing. The key to great jerk chicken lies in the marinade - a perfect balance of spices, heat, and time to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat. When done right, jerk chicken should be juicy, tender, and bursting with Caribbean flavors. I paid for the food because I understand the work behind it! I asked to make it a takeout after the first bite..overall very disappointing. A joke thing that .
A very nice atmosphere, very pleasant service and a warm decoration! The dishes are plentiful and clearly worth their prices Everything is good and done with the heart Vegetarian options: Several dishes are offered such as risotto
Great food!
All the dishes are very tasty, the atmosphere is great, good music, very nice decor too.
Excellent service and delicious dishes. Ti-punch is delicious, sweet and tastes like the holidays. Reasonable price.
Its one of the best restaurants Ive ever had the chance to eat at. The food is a delight, the fusion of West Indian food gives the taste buds a PARTY in my mouth. If I could 11/10 would be my rating. Dont give up, we want more restaurants like this in MTL.
Very warm service and great Caribbean fusion food. Cocktail are also great!!!!
Excellent carribean food ! I had some Jerk chicken with rice and pikliz and everything hit ! Just delicious I ordered to go but the restaurant looked really nice , I might have to dine in next time.
love this place. def leaving in a food coma everytime
Fantastic experience here. The portions were generous and the food was fantastic. I appreciated how quickly everything came (so quick that we had time to duck home before going to a show, which we didn t expect). The restaurant is also decorated beautifully which elevates the experience even more!
Food was great, prices were decent and service was excellent !! I highly recommend this place !
The best pork ribs I have ever had. The drinks are equally as good.
Great Caribbean food. I dont like very spicy food and they were very up front that some of their food was quite spicy. Their drinks were DELICIOUS. no dessert menu :( but my dining partner had a dessert shotb that he enjoyed. Vegetarian options: Yes Kid-friendliness: Yes
Great place to experience Haïtien Food Haitien Approved. Food
Super good!
The griot plate (the pikliz ), and the artibonite chicken are so tasty! Great choice of cocktails. Having eaten here several times, the only downside is that the portions have decreased and the prices have practically doubled Still, excellent service and the decor is warm. The new menu is also very interesting. Delicious fusion cuisine to try!
So disappointed with the taste of food especially with the rice. You pay for a djon djon rice and you get a rice that is worst than 90 second microwavable uncle benz rice with NO DJON DJON. When u ask for a specific food should be able to displayed an accurate test of it. When i ask for big mac , guess what i expecting big mac flavoured burger. I gave it a 2 for the cocktail.
Great take out. Would eat here in a heartbeat.
Something new, different and refreshing. A fusion of Caribbean cuisines that is simply delicious and unique. I didn t back out from the spice levels and I wasn t disappointed. However, it may not be for the sensitive. This chef definitely has talent and the flavours are well balanced in the dishes I chose. The papaya salad was spicy but well balanced with a creamy coconut dressing which brought sweetness and softness. The griot plate was just as impressive with less spice, but more crunch and a candied flavour that will put general Tao to shame. Served by a tall lean gentleman, service was fantastic
The cocktails are good, the food is good. Very slow service...
I ve ordered the vegan bowl at least 5 times, love it so much!
No no noooo
Took so long to sit us took so long to serve just left and didnt even bring us water. Was so excited 2 eat but disappointed w service. I know great food but improve service.
Were from the south shore and we were looking for something not too far, but different and tasty. Well.. We got served.. 15 min from home and AMAZING food. Honestly.. I have NOTHING negative to say about this place. Super friendly staff and the food was just out of this world good. The ambiance and music was also very laid back and enjoyable. We took the Cod Accra as a starter 5/5. My girlfriend took the jerk chicken and that was another 5/5. Finally I took the jerk salmon with friend Djondjon rice.. WOW.. I actually left food on purpose so I could bring it back home.
great food, really good flavourful meals was served fast and hot. A lot of food i was full ! service need a little improve except for that everything perfect
Very tasty food. Great take out with much sustainable packaging. Ask for less spicy if you cant handle the default that is extra hot!!
The decoration, the service, the dishes everything is a success! The food is indeed faithful to the Caribbean inspiration, and it remains very well balanced: the dishes are rich in flavor but they are not greasy. A treat :), I recommend!
I loved everything! And they are able to accommodate certain menu items for celiacs (gluten-free and contamination-free). Dietary restrictions: Celiac
Everything from the atmosphere, to the food, and drinks are incredible. A Gem absolute gem
Food was mediocre - many of the dishes were very bland. The food and drinks took a very long time to come out. I think our table was wiped with a dirty towel or something but it was very stinky when we were seated. Service was poor - constantly had to flag our server and he gotten one of our orders wrong but still charged the mistake to us rather than correcting it.
This place rules
Great food ! Great service. We will be back !!
Good food. The parking service needs to be reworked. Difficult order, cocktail received after entry after 40 minutes. I dont think Ill order a second one. Chasing the bill. DJ on site who finally plays the Sean Paul CD I would recommend it for an advance order to go out
Great restaurant! Excellent food! Large meal. Weve been there 3 times now, so good!
Amazing food and vibe! Drinks too!! DJ Blaster is awesome! It was a bit busy, so the service wasnt the greatest, but it wont stop me from going again.
Very spacious, nice décor, welcoming environment, positive and chill energy from the staff, owners. Truly a nice place to kick back and relax, grab a bite with friends, or just enjoy a relaxed setting within the island whilst enjoying some West Indian dishes. Truly a nice gem . Vegetarian options: The menu does have a vegetarian alternative for those whod rather consume it. It was well done, delicious, and enjoyable.
Delicious food and great ambiance!
Best authentic Jamaican restaurant in town. The portions are large. The service is impeccable. We always have a good time there!!
Fantastic food, every bite was full of flavour and service was quick! The drink menu is incredible as well, already planning my next visit!
If I could give them 10 stars I would!
The flavors of the Caribbean presented by Ralph Alerte are everywhere. In his glasses (try the Coco Margarita ) and his plates. Mixtures of cultures, fusion of cuisines without ever distorting them. Really excellent. Thanks for the experience.
This is an amazing place to have dinner. The food was excellent, it exceeded my expectations. The service from the staff were excellent on both days I went (back to back) the rice and beans reminded me of back home in Jamaica 100% excellent. I love the drinks as well. Overall this place should be recommended to everyone who visits downtown Montreal. I can t wait to go back this summer. Continue the good work to all the workers. Cheers!!
Loved the jerk chicken!
One of the best restos!! Such a gem!
Beautiful ambiance, exceptional customer service, great music, tasty drinks, but the food was a hit or miss for me. Loved the calamari and plantains, but the jerk chicken and rice was watered down for me. Our waiter, Ahmed, was exceptional! His energy & attentiveness made up for the small disappointment. Will definitely be back to try other dishes.
Ahmed, our server was outstanding!! It was our first time visiting the restaurant and he made recommendations. The food was AMAZING!!! You must eat here. The menu is original and creative. Everything is tasty and well- seasoned. We will definitely be coming back.
Really good fried chicken
the food was so delicious oh my god, i will definitely come back, we ordered the combo poulet and it was a very good plate, the size is perfect, the mix of flavours is amazing! BUT the woman server didn t help us so much, we had to go there to order coke, order water, ask for a plate for the bones of the chicken i heard someone say he doesn t have to come all the way here - in french - but also, they didn t come to the table so . we had to go there, but apart from that it was really good and i will come back and i hope they don t put anything in my food after the review
Vegetarian options: Le vegan bowl est complètement incroyable. Le propriétaire et les serveurs sont les meilleurs! Food
Very disappointed as I decided to go here on a whim, walked up and there were plenty of empty tables, didnt look busy, but the hostess told me that they were full and if I didnt have a reservation they couldnt seat me. I asked really? For 1 person, I see many empty tables, she told me no.
Interesting Caribbean restaurant Great seating area on the outside patio makes for an easy evening. The rum punch was a little bit too sweet. The pork salad from Haiti was excellent Would highly recommend this.
They went out of there way to deal with my difficult diet. They created a dish off-menu for me on their own and were lovely. Our entire party loved the dishes, and the service was amazing. We will go again next time we visit Montréal. Dietary restrictions: They are very helpful with dietary restrictions
I had some good cod accras as a starter and the delicious 3 fried chicken combo dish. The atmosphere was relaxed and I liked the service.
Its my go-to restaurant whenever Im in the area. Delicious food, attentive staff, great music. When the terrace is out during the summer, it is a great people-watching spot.
we just had dinner at the Palme restaurant, a small, but amazing spot on Saint Catherine St. in Montreal. The food was to die for! A unique blend of spices, but not too spicy, that was exquisite! If you get the chance, I d be worth your while to go.
Delicious
It was my first visit here and I was thoroughly impressed! I got the Jerk Salmon Bowl and the flavours were all so well paired together! The crispy plantain on the side was also delicious!
One of our favourite meals in Montreal! I recommend the fried chicken and shrimp macaroni and cheese. The cocktails are also amazing.
Excellent food, service and ambience. Look forward to another visit.
The portions are really too small. It cost me 30 for a griot. I expected more. Theres not even any extra sauce.
Whats the joke? Food for an 8 year old? Im still hungry and it cost me 40 bucks with skip.
It was my first time trying Caribbean food! I had jerk chicken turf, and I really liked the fried plantains as a side. The chicken seasoning was also great:) Food
I was very excited to try a Caribbean restaurant in this area. The atmosphere and service was great. The food was tasty, but a bit of a let down as I was expecting Caribbean flavor. I know it s a fusion, but some items should stay authentic. The food did not match the words on the menu. Jhon jhon rice should ALWAYS be black. The rice I got was brown. The jerk salmon had 0 and I mean 0 jerk flavor. I thought I ordered the wrong meal. I tasted no cod fish in the acra. The food was good, but I do not see much Caribbean influence in the flavor.
Really delicious, authentic tastes, great vegan selection, but a little expensive. We would have liked desserts
I went to this place for my birthday for the first time and it was such an amazing experience. From the food to the playlist, everything was there. I highly recommend it for any event or occasion.
Dear God the food and vibe in this place is amazing.
The griot salad and Mac and cheese were amazing. The daiquiri is a must try
They elevate Caribbean food to the next level! Cozy and welcoming atmosphere! Knowledgeable staff and very attentive! Well done guys!
I was served by Emilie this Saturday evening and I had an incredible experience, the recommendations and the service were flawless. Were going to come back for my best friends party.
This place AMAZED me which is honestly a feat. So well executed on every single aspect. I was not even planning to come here, was just passing by and the menu caught my eye. One of the employees joyfully invited me in - I already had my eyes on the seafood mac n cheese so thats what I ordered. While I waited for my food, I thoroughly took in and enjoyed the decor to this place. Elegantly put together, this place is adorned with photos, figurines and lots of plants. The plants really give this place a relaxing and pleasant air to it. The other employees service was just as splendid as the first who brought me in. Now lets finally get to the food - This mac and cheese wasnt as thick as I would have liked, but still interestingly seasoned and very tasty. It also came with three amazing pieces of fried chicken. I have to say the chicken was better than the mac and cheese. The skin was so deliciously seasoned and prepared. Perfect texture on the inside. No exaggerations when I say this was the absolute best Caribbean restaurant experience Ive ever had (Toronto experiences included) and overall one of the best culinary experiences Ive had in Montreal.
Some dishes are very good (accras and griot), others bland (shrimp curry) but the service is very slow and we forgot the cocktails... All this to bring them to us towards the end telling us that it was offered by the house BUT not at all, they are of course the note at the end....
I ve been going to Palme since its inception. Chef Ralph never ceases to amaze me with his creations. This evening I took my fiancé there for the first time and he instantly fell in love with Palme: the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, music, and of course the service. Highly recommended!!!!
It is always a very nice experience to try new things. However, the fried chicken bowl is not as good as the Korean ones (personally, I would like the chicken to be salty and spicy rather than sweet). In Chinatown, the fried chicken in face of chez Chili is much better. // the sweet potato soupe is very creamy and very yellow, some people might like it. // my vegetarian friend likes his soupe a lot.// his salad sucks( but that s my opinion, he likes it a lot), the dessert tres leches is very tasty //en resume it s an interesting place worth trying, but the chicken is too dry and bland for me.
Palme has a laidback modern aesthetic that celebrates the Caribbean diaspora through food, music, and art. Walking in to the restaurant, you are immediately transported to a warm climate with palm trees, warm muted greens, and beige. The art on the walls celebrate black culture with portraits hung along the walls. And, the playlist has a super chill 90s/00s hip-hop vibe that you will never hear at neighboring venues. In one word, the atmosphere is DOPE. Palme also has an extensive rum list that will indulge anyone that has a keen taste for the liquor and knows that each island has their local favorite. For food, there is a balanced juxtaposition between sweet, spice, and savory. This is one of the few places in Montreal where I don t ask for salt and pepper on the side. The heat that is created from spicier dishes is warming rather than cutting, so don t be intimidated by the spices here. Menu highlights include: Accras de morue - Anyone who has been to Barbados will immediately be reminded of fish cakes! It is fried dough mixed with cod, herbs, and spices. Salade de griot - Pork and sweet potatoes with a tangy/sweet sauce over salad Saumon sur polenta de patate douce - This is fabulous! The salmon is soft and served over a sweet potato polenta that has a tangy sauce with crispy plantain and vegetables. It comes with a little warming heat that feels just right as we drift toward the cold months. Vegetarian options: The have great vegetarian and vegan options. The style of food means the dishes work well with or without meat!
Ordinary cuisine, nothing more. I chose the shrimp with chorizo in a spicy broth. Very noisy restaurant because of the music. Only one choice of white wine by the glass.
Wasn t even acknowledged at this spot. We waited at the front for a solid five minutes before we sat ourselves. Then waited another ten minutes at the table without the staff even giving us a wave. We knew we weren t going to be helped when a new person walked in and was immediately acknowledged by one of the waitstaff, so we left. Disappointing as I ve ordered takeout from here before and enjoyed the food. But the service has made me reconsider that as well.
Today they were not friendly
I would have given it a 4 star if the price of the plates was more affordable because for the asking price I expect more flavor, $4 for a small cup of mayo, a bit absurd but the service was excellent at least
Excellent, good value for money!!
Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free & vegeterian risotto Food
the griot melts in your mouth and the flavor is delicious. Its just delicious. 10/10
Atmosphere +++++ Food quality +++++ Staff +++++ I highly recommend!!!
We had a great time. Signature cocktails, good portion and spicy taste for the food. Good musical atmosphere. Very good service although very slow. (You dont have to be in a hurry)
Slow service, it was not even crowded. Staff was not really friendly, I did not feel welcome. The food was ok.
Food was a little salty because I dont eat a lot of salt, but great flavor, great portion size. Sat at bench type table and that was super uncomfortable sitting on hard wood, a cushion would have been nice. Had the jerk salmon bowl which was great and Accra balls, although tasty the batter was a little overdone making it thick and hard to get through. But overall tasty food, great staff, great drinks, great music great atmosphere.
Food was excellent but wait time was way too long.
Ever since the discovery in February i keep going back and bringing friends; literally everyone loves it. Cocktails are easily the best in town; hearty portions and great cuisine, overall amazing experience.
The place is stunning, the food was great and it was by far the best friend chicken I ve ever had.
Delicious vegan bowl !!! And the fish donuts were to die for.
Food was delicious! Such tasty flavours and they accommodate for a spicy palate or not super nice people, decor and ambiance!! I highly recommend
I was probably their biggest customer a few months ago until: 1) prices increase beyond my restaurant budget 2) availability on ubereats becomes sporadic (unavailable on a Thursday at 6 p.m.? Why?!) But if you have the chance to go there in person, its one of the best culinary experiences in Montreal hands down
Great! Yummy! Friendly!
I had my birthday there! Hidden gem in MTL
We waited for 1hr40min and didn t get appetizers or any food.
8pm reservation. By 9:30 when our patience had worn thin, told them starters would be in 10 minutes. 10 minutes later, presented with the bill for drinks and told we ve not even started cooking your food. Sorry. No warning. No real apology. Absolutely terrible. Most other food places nearby had closed as it was so late. Ruined our first night in Montreal.
The worst restaurant experience in Montréal ! 1 hour waiting for 3 main course ! I ll Never back there and not recommend it at alll ! U guys have to shut it Down or learn how to run restaurant.
Awfully slow! Terrible experience! It took them one hour and five minutes to prepare three dishes and it was not a busy night. When we complained, the staff didnt even care!
One of the best Haitian restaurants in Montreal. Good stuff
Endless waiting. We arrived at 8 p.m. and 1 hour 15 minutes later we still had not received our 2 main courses. Even at the beginning, we werent even served water until we waited about 20 minutes. The waitress ended up giving us the bottle of water but didnt bother to pour any into our glasses. Otherwise, the food was good 7.5/10 but not exceptional.
Awesome place. Food is excellent. Nice music. Nice vibe. Will go again for sure :)
I got the vegan bowl, which was so flavorful and delicious! Sweet, spicy, and salty, with fruits, veggies, rice, and beans. The waiter was kind enough to warn us of how spicy everything is for people who aren t used to Caribbean cuisine, and offered options for my partner who doesn t like much spice. The ambiance inside was also lovely. This ended up being my favorite meal while visiting Montreal!
Food was pretty tasty except for the accra which were over fried and too doughy. Drinks were great. Unfortunately the service on a Friday evening was painfully slow and our serveur was pretty much MIA the entire night.
Great food, but the wait was really long. 30min for drinks, 45 min for entree and another 45 for the main.
Very nice establishment.Staff is friendly and the portions are decent. We got takeout so comments on the dine-in experience.
Really good food especially the jerk chicken. The griot is a very dry and overcooked. Nice ambiance overall.
Delicious food, lovely decor and the service was fantastic!
Excellent food and a very good DJ for the atmosphere. I recommend :)
Griot and salmon
Excellent! Drinks, meals, service, music, setting, nothing to complain about. Only negative point: not having discovered this restaurant before today
Very good restaurant with breathtaking cuisine, helpful and welcoming staff! We had a great time! I highly recommend this restaurant
I was so excited to go to Palme. Music and vibe was greta but was disappointed with the food. Location is great but I wont be back.
Not bad but not wow either. A little uneven.
The Service Is Just Horrible. We Was Six Person In The Table And We Wait For More Then Half Hour To Order The Food After That The Foods Arrived Very Cold Plus We Wait For More Minutes To Receive Spoon And Fork..We Ask To Talk To The Owner But They Say Shes Busy At The Moment. Tottaly Waist Of Money. Foods Extremely Cold And Spicy. Service Are Just A Big ZERO
I never tire of eating at this restaurant. Alone at the bar, with family or with friends, we have a great time with the staff... very friendly. The portions are generous, and the flavors explode in your mouth. The chef is very talented! When will there be a 2nd Palme?!
Everything I ve had here has been excellent. Highly recommend. Vegan food is really good too. And get the sweet potato fries!!!
Too spicy, we have the impression that we want to hide the freshness of foods that have not been sold for a long time. Unpleasant and too loud music. Pleasant service and the waitresses are friendly and pretty
Love it!
Excellent food, although quite spicy, but I think thats part of the culture. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasnt for the rather slow service.
We liked the way how the restaurant looked and got in, its a nice restaurant but the service isnt nice and the food wasnt what we wanted. The steak was one of the dishes which was awful because after chew chew we were tired. The other dishe was pasta and a duck and the duck was over cooked and didnt nice the taste. Pasta was below the average. Overall we couldnt eat and left. I dont think they will take our complaints and recommendations seriously but hope people will read this and stay away the same dishes that we tried to had! There were people enjoying their food but we couldnt.
Cocktails
The food is delicious!
My new favourite restaurant in Montreal. The food is amazing. I like Haitian food, but usually it tends to be pretty basic comfort food. These guys reinvent it and take it to another level. Not only that, but its cheap, the service is great, and the atmosphere too. Cant get any better!
This place is different, the service is spectacular! Furthermore, the food and drinks are very good. I tried the salmon bowl and it was delicious. I highly recommend it.
Food was delicious! So much flavor and great spice. The drinks are bomb!! The waiter was helpful with assisting us to make our food & drink selections. The customer service was amazing. The owner came out to thank us for coming by. I love everything about this restaurant and it s easily in my top five Montreal restos! A must visit.
Food was tremendous! Staff was knowledgeable about the drinks and food. Plenty of gluten free options. We got the fried chicken bowl and giot bowl. Authentic and fantastic flavor.
The menu was really different from what you typically find in Haitian restaurants. Delicious and good portions. Im going back for sure
I went to the restaurant and I really loved the welcome but especially the food! Im Haitian and honestly I was amazed by everything my group ordered. We loved it so much that we bought the chef in the kitchen a shot! Really well done!!!
If youre looking for authentic haitian/caribean food. This is not the place. If youre looking for influences but fusion cuisine you might like it. Also, I am not sure about the price related to value.
Delicious
The service, the decoration, the music and most importantly the food was sooo good. The portion are generous, the alcohol in the cocktail too and for the price it is perfect! Will definitely go back.
Really very tasty. The portions are generous. Polite and good-willed service but quite messy. But overall the experience is positive. I will go back.
Very good cocktails. Excellent food. Friendly service. Laid-back atmosphere. Recommended!
It is a really beautiful place. I really enjoyed the décor and the ambiance. The staff was very nice and welcoming. The plate presentation was impressive. I had the jerk salmon with rice and beans. I felt the spiciness overpowered the meal but I enjoyed it anyway. I would definitely try this place again. Thank you!
