The chicken is absolutely dry and tasteless. The chow mein is way too salty. I didn’t finish my plate. I do not recommend
Flavourless fried chicken from under a heat lamp. Confused why they don’t put any seasoning or salt into the breading. Literally flavourless. So sad I spent 20 bucks on this!
The person working immediately welcomed me while I was looking at the menu, and answered all of my questions cheerfully. The food was a great portion and very flavourful.
Tasted ok. My first bite into the sandwich tasted mostly like breading so I opened it up and it was a lot of breading and barely any meat. Note that it's not one piece of chicken.
Great quick and easy meal, super delicious fried chicken! The chicken burger was by far the best thing we ordered (nice flavourful and juicy fried chicken!) the kimchi fries where also pretty great, albeit a little on the salty side. The fried chicken dumplings and rolls were good but needed a little more flavour even with the peanut sauce. Overall still a good Asian fast food place!
Ho Lee Chix, this place is good! Definitely try their food! I saw those angel wings framing the chicken burger and angels came down from Heaven and said “this is the meal for you”. It was SO GOOD! The only reason there’s a 4 star is because the sides didn’t feel very hot or fresh but the chicken and the sauce on the burger was wicked good! I can’t wait to come back. Yum!
This is only relevant to the vegan chicken. I haven't tried any of the other items. From the pictures I assumed the vegan chicken would be breaded and fried just like the photos of the regular chicken sandwiches. I ordered 6 vegan chicken pieces and a vegan chicken sandwich. To my disappointment they weren't fried or had a crispy skin, they were in fact stiff and difficult to chew through as though they had been frozen and re-heated. I checked their instagram and their photos of their vegan chicken look nothing like what I received. I was expecting something like the buffalo wings from copper branch except fried and these were like rock solid nuggets. It's rare that there are vegan options on the menu so I will give them props for that, but the whole construction of it seemed like an after thought. It's mostly stiff bread and the "meat" of it is very little. It's not fresh and the exterior isn't fried or crispy. There are better vegan options elsewhere.
Really like my tray, 4 pcs of crispy chicken with tofu + veggie side dish and 3 different sauces (none of them was spicy for me btw, im a hot sauce fan). Big portion, had to get a doggy bag.
Thank you Luis very good service and amazing food service
It was a 5* a while ago but the quality is no longer there. Smaller portions, the chicken no longer has any taste its just oily, the noodles are extremely dry.. Unfortunately I wont be coming back again. The service is still good though.
Food was cold
Arrived here by chance, big disappointment. The chicken is cooked randomly with pieces that are a little questionable in terms of texture. The waffle fries must have spent half a day waiting for me because they were cold, soft, mushy and tasteless. A horror.
Good general tao, very generous portions!
Delicious and super good service. Beautiful decoration that stands out from the other restaurants at Le Central.
Its been twice in a row that Ive gone to Ho Lee Chix to eat a General Tao poutine without being able to eat it. The first time, the lady at the counter told me she was unable to serve it to me. It was 2:00 p.m. Then the second time, I went there on a Saturday around noon but there was no one there to serve. The lights were on though. All other restaurants at Central were open. After several minutes I decided to leave. I left Central and went to eat elsewhere. I will no longer travel to eat at your restaurant. I wont recommend it either. Too bad for Central. So much for Ho Lee Chix.
Excellent fried chicken, divine sauces and super friendly staff! Really handy for office dinners.
You can find almost everything! Tasty, atmospheric, just the thing for company!
22$ for this heaven!!!
Person behind the counter pretty rude
Staff was very impolite, wouldnt go again.
They dont seem to be able to keep the quality they had at launch. I ordered several times during the pandemic they were really good. Bad surprise this evening, false advertising, incorrect cooking, insufficient quantity. Very disappointed; I thought I had found a regular restaurant...
Gluten free fried chicken and waffle fries were great, service was very quick and friendly.
I love this restaurant! The chicken is delicious, the waffle fries too! Even the sauces are really good! I highly recommend
I wasn t too sure about it, the fried chicken it s been siting on that trie for who knows how long, and the fries thy have to bee cold and soggy. Guess what ??? It was really good , hot and tasty !! I will be back ! Recommended dishes
Good service and the food is magnificent.
My chicken was precooked from what seems like hours ago and arrived completely cold. The pieces were more than half batter with very little meat, hard to chew, and was not delicious. None of the sides I ordered was correct. Wrong drinks aussi.
Use to be good but very inconsistent except for the fact that the quality goes down every time I order. I am done with ordering from them after last time. I ordered 2 vegan bowls they did not even come their vegan chicken instead they came with tofu cubes, barley any veg and sauce. Maybe they ran out of vegan chicken at the time but even if thats the case they should notify customers before sending out a different product. At over 60$ for two bowls after taxes and tip this is a lot to charge for a item that may or may not come as you expect. Better off ordering at any cheaper Chinese restaurant. Their photos also show this item with noodles it has not come with noodles for a long time, the quality and diversity of vegetables that comes with their bowl has also gone down since they opened. Vegetarian options: Extremely inconsistent sometimes you get fake chicken sometimes you get tofu.
They refuse to serve us at 10:25 p.m. on a Friday evening, 35 minutes BEFORE closing. To then see the cook serving a group of people at 10:45 p.m. anything but commercial and really inappropriate behavior!!!! We are not likely to test this stand or advertise it! Damage !
It wasn t that good, i drove all the way here for nothing really, plus my son got food poisoning, i wouldn t recommend.Oh and the food seemed old and was cold.
super amazing fried chicken with a good choice of sauce
Pros: Fried chicken is gluten free. Portions are decently large. Cons: Chicken is only ok (definitely underseaoned). Price is high for the quality. I personally didnt enjoy the vibe of the food hall, but I imagine many other people would.
Their fried chicken is as dry as the rudeness of their staff.
I ordered online and the chicken sandwiches arrived burnt with the meat as dry as cardboard. Also the hot sauce is not spicy at all.
The female employee there was soooooooo rude! She acted like I was bothering her and was a nuisance to her. I wasnt able to eat the noodles because of how excessively salty they were. The chicken burger was fine though. Ill probably never go back because of the terrible service. I try to be understanding of fast food workers, because I know how stressful it can be, but there was litterally no one else there, I was the only customer! So no reason to act so annoyed.
By going to the central regularly, this crispy chicken had really been making me want it for some time, but I always chose another meal. This time, I started with the total for two and the formula 6 pieces of chicken, a drink and 2 sides, Singapore noodles 2.0 and fried rice. There was a small mistake in the order and so I also inherited fries. I must admit, I was very disappointed in the taste at all levels. 1- Fries in waffle form, a taste of a low-end frozen product (because we must admit, there is nothing better than homemade fries, but there are very good frozen fries) 2- Satisfactory fried chicken, the crispiness is good, but nothing surprising for a specialty, I have tasted much better ones. 3 - First sauce: spicy mayonnaise. I understand that some people are quite sensitive when it comes to heat, but these people generally dont take this type of sauce. Here, it was a simple mayonnaise in a jar that was very, very slightly spicy. 4 - Second maple and siracha sauce, here too, too much maple, the spiciness was not there and the consistency was not practical for a chicken coating. 5 - The fried rice and noodles had very little flavor, it was very bland. Too bad then, that a few blocks from the center, we have some pretty remarkable alternatives, beautiful, good, inexpensive. I had to save them for home and add flavor with some sauces. In conclusion, its all in the AD and the visual, but the taste doesnt follow at all. All dishes deserve more attention from the chefs in terms of taste.
The burger bun is almost non-existent given its thinness. Im still looking for the sauce. The chicken is ultra cooked and tasteless. As for the cabbage, oh no, there is even too much of it. Hats off to the service, the waiter is so jaded
Best frie chicken, I recommend it 100%. Not that expensive.
Best chicken ever The people are really nice Food
Very Good
Glute free fried chicken is rare so I give jt extra points. But it was way to oily/fried batter. Fries tasted good but definitely felt like theyd been our for hours so cold. Very noisy environment but if youre going to that location its to be expected. Id go again. Just not any time soon.
Correct. I didnt have the same experience as the Centrale. The service was simple, without friendliness. I ordered a General Tao bowl, the sauce was delicious, the chicken ok, the side dishes ouffff. Half-hot, half-cold dry rice, dry cabbage, nice noodles, good quantity. In short, $20 for a decent experience, I ate, I was full but nothing would invite me to go back.
Chicken was cold and red/pink inside. Noodles were cold. Staff is cold and on top of it they don t accept cash. Food : 1/5
The chicken is not tasty at all, everything is too salty, too much breading on the chicken, too expensive for what its worth. In short, its too expensive to pay for a really questionable taste.
Love the chicken and spring rolls. Will love to try more next time! Food
Idk what Private Equity bought these guys but their food used to be good and now it s gotten crazy expensive and is significantly, objectively worse
The chicken was rubbery and tasted seasoned with cheap dry jerk seasoning. The noodles were ok but not worth the cost. The can of sprite was the highlight of my meal. Would not recommend or return.
Best fast food. Clean. Efficient. Food : 5/5
Go for the TASTE BUDS EXPLODING FRIED CHICKEN any given day, sides are very delicious and should try atleast 2 of them at any time, even not too HEAVY ON YOUR POCKET, and they are SUPER SPEEDY in service with a warm welcome.
Poutine is amazing, the fried chicken is under seasoned.
The chicken seriously has no seasoning... It tastes like fried breaded chicken with nothing. Its all in the sauce but again its not that impressive. The Singapore noodles were good and tasted a lot of spices, in contrast to the chicken which was mediocre.
Kind staff and good vegetarian/vegan options. I enjoyed the veg general tao as well as the veg burgers with the spicy sauce!
Based on the reviews, it seemed like a no brainer. Got a 6 piece fried chicken combo and, man, how disappointing! Dont know how long those pieces had been sitting under the heat lamps or if it even had been made that same day, but it was dry and hard. What little seasoning they put in the batter had a taste you dont usually find in fried chicken. Whatever it is, I didnt like it and the meager servings of dipping sauces did little to improve the experience. The fries had that old oil taste. Given how much this combo cost, I tried to eat all of it but alas I couldnt. Never thought Id hear myself say this but I would have been better off getting McNuggets. Needless to say, never going back there, even if the meal was free.
Best. Chicken. Ever. Juicy. Tender. Moist. Pick a sauce, no sauce, who cares? Chicken is the star here
Simple and good! The chicken was perfectly crispy and the sides delicious. The chicken burger was executed to perfection!
Good friend chicken! All you need for a good meal.
Yum amazing fried chicken
The fried chicken was delicious with the sriracha sauce
Thanks for the GF fried chicken!!
Placed order through Web site. Order accepted and charged. Shortly after, received a text message saying it had been canceled. Called restaurant and was told that was not the case. Food never delivered and restaurant never responded to subsequent follow ups even hours later. Had to dispute transaction through bank. Tech glitch not their fault-maybe-bjt failure to communicate clearly is.
The only thing we liked is the ice tea .. maybe not suitable for us.
Very disappointing. The chicken was so dry that you couldnt even taste it, everything else I had also seemed super old, the food was cold (room temperature at best) and tasteless.
For the price, and being the only fried chicken at central . I was expecting more. Batter had 0 crunch. Tasted like reheat fried chicken. Taste was good but no crispiness. Felt like I got catfished
Delicious vegan fried chicken and sides!
EDIT - Changed rating to 4 stars after an eventual refund following the original review - otherwise, heres the original review: ------ Some tasty item but frequent order issues (and no refund/assistance) The kimchi fries are delicious but the chicken is quite flavourless unless drowned in the sauces. Terrible (order) service. I used to love this place but after 2 consecutive incomplete online orders (and NO REFUNDS or ways to fix the issues) I cant give more than 2 stars. Both times I contacted the restaurant as I used the online order platform (non Doordash or Uber Eats) and they said theyd refund through the service or whatever, but I never had any refund or adjustments. Thats about 27$ lost (every time it was the amount of Kimchi Fries I ordered - one time I was missing 1 of 2 kimchi fries, the second time, 2 of 3 kimchi fries, which are 9$) Eat at the restaurant and stay away from online ordering as they dont follow your order and youll lose money. Had the frequent issues been resolved adequately, the experience and appreciation wouldve been much better, but due to consistent issues and no resolution, it deserves 2 stars out of 5 at most.
Worst lunch of my life $24 in the trash
The fried chicken there is delicious! Even though I would season it a bit more, the juiciness of the meat and the crispyness of the batter totally make up for it. The burger is also nice and they have a great choice of sauces ! Nice service as well
One of the best fried chicken in Montreal !! Their choice of sauce is very good and their side orders are all delicious
LOVE this place! This is the kind of restaurant you wanna order everything off the menu, and youre satisfied every time (like, you never feel like ah, shouldve just picked my usual). Even when its not its best, its still amazing. The new gen tao poutine is one of the best things Ive ever eaten; every bite is 100%. My fave go-to though is that holy f* burger... but the fried chicken is amazing too... like i said, cant pick, its all awesome. the noodles are amazing also.
Bad customer service And the fried chicken was extremely dry. It was edible but not the best
Solid fried chicken
Overall everything is just OK. Chicken sandwich was good, but nothing exceptional. Was worth a try but wouldnt order again
Really incredible food. Their gluten free fried chicken is magical.
Rather disappointing. The breading is stiff. Chow mein has no taste. The Jalapeño Cabbage Pickle Chicken Burger in Hot Sauce is good, but unfortunately the breading on the chicken makes it very difficult to eat.
Horrible old fried chicken. Inconsistent pieces And 20$ for tiny old pieces of chicken
I LOVED the fried chicken!!!! A must try if you are in the area.
I love the combination of Asian sides and fried chicken. It s really a good idea to mix the two. To order and RE order!
chicken wasnt very special and customer service was kinda bad.
Very good and hearty fried chicken sandwich. Chow mein noodles made up of only noodles and a slice of onion, for the price it leaves a lot to be desired. Very intense big mac roll. I placed my order more than 2 hours in advance and yet it was given to the delivery person 45 minutes after the established time to arrive more than 45 minutes after the maximum delivery time. Fortunately the delivery man did his best to ensure that the order arrived as quickly as possible. I will not recommend or order from your address again, sorry.
Rude service and mediocre chicken
What a great discovery!! Originality and taste are there: I love it!!!
Chicken always fresh, tender, juicy, crispy and cooked just right, a real delight to devour with 6 side dishes and 6 sauces to choose from plus 3 types of dumplings. No problem coming back several times a week. I highly recommend.
If youre happen to be downtown around the festival quarter, check out Ho Lee Chix in Le Central food court, the best Asian style Fried Chicken in YUL. Ever since I went there first, I am now craving for it since. Im not a huge fried chicken Aficionados, but this stuff is tender, perfectly crispy, and so are the side dishes and the tasty sauces. Don t forget to check their super tasty Big Mak rolls. I love them too.
tried their food at the market & it was ok, nothing spectacular. staff was quite rude i even saw them yelling at one of the staff while getting my food which was very unprofessional.
When the waiters serve the world with their hand after they use the payment machine, no hygiene, yesterday I was and I didnt like it at all on the other hand their hospitality was zero, there was a delivery man in front of me who was ignored for 30 minutes, in short never at their place
I tried the Big Mak rolls (which really taste like the Big Mac!!!) and their fried chicken sandwich and I absolutely loved it! The portions were big and the staff was super nice.
Burger made with low-end products (thighs for chicken, unseasoned cabbage, 1st price pickles, etc.). Fried potatoes way overcooked... And for $16 + tip very strongly suggested... No!
Ordered and notified them of my gluten intolerance, they ensured I did not have any gluten in my meal and replaced items with gluten! Above and beyond and amazing food!
Very cheap Burgers made from brown chicken and worse The totally ridiculous fries in terms of cooking Its not worth 0 the asking price
The rolls are decadent and truly huge, delicious to share. The vegan chicken option is super interesting and very tasty!
$$ small but really nice restaurants easy to understand menu has like only 6 item. Obviously its a chicken place The chicken is really good not to saturated in fat taste is so on point the order was quite fast and the service was ok its more like a fast-food then anything else. I would suggest
Vegan fried chicken. A rating of 3 out of 5 because I thought the breading was good but I didnt like the texture of the chicken.
I ordered the vegan fried chicken with a side of fried vegetable noodles. I liked everything but I found the kibbles a little small.
Had their feature poutine for poutine week. Wanted to lick the bowl clean. Fried chicken made with love!!
Delicious gluten free fried chicken !!
Super good chicken and the staff is super nice!
Would give 10 stars if I could. The best fried chicken Ive ever had. Great place and very clean. Thanks guys!
The PLACE in Central Super Ultra-Tender Fried Chicken with super interesting combos with alcohol option Amazing sauces. Difficult to make a choice!!! Long live Ho Lee Chix
Excellent service, the food is very good and especially the fried chicken!!! Perfect place to eat before and after a show downtown
Great fried chicken and excellent poutine! Several choices of sauce which are all excellent. Lots of choice next door, all very good. Impossible to go to the city center without stopping there.
Excellent fried chicken! Lots of sauce choices and the sides were super good! You will not be disappointed!!
Me and my girlfriend ordered vegan chicken. Big feast: Poutine, burger, chow mein, the whole kit. Finally, we came across real chicken, which wasnt even cooked (there was blood). Everything was cold. The portions were tiny. It didnt look at all like the images on the website. Instead of being waffle fries, they were soft julienne fries. Instead of a good thick Kaiser bread, it was a cheap old flatbread. Among one of the worst food disappointments of my life. However, after communicating our dissatisfaction to the restaurant, they corrected the bill by sending us a meal at their expense which was much better than the first. The food was hot and vegetarian as expected. The sauces were appetizing and the chicken breading was crispy. Thank you for this gift
Superb Chinese fried rice and noodles Singapore! Generous pieces of chicken and the sauces are superb: my favorites in my opinion are: peanut and general taooo. It s made with love! #homemade Ps the burger is also epic
$6 for a little cup of vegetable chow mein noodles. The only vegetable in there was onions and it was 3 strings of it. They are generous, however, with the soy sauce on those noodles... a little too generous. Keep your Gatorade close.
First timer. $40 For 2 - 4x chicken, with fries and a cup of chow mein. The chicken was ok. The fries were cold, tasted like Costco fries. Cup of chow mein was bland and only noodles, barely any veggies. I would not recommend this place.
It s amazing
Very expensive for the small portions that they serve you. The taste is not bad but nothing special
Fried chicken was good. Nice small snack
Honestly Ive been to this place a couple of times and its one of the best places for vegan/regular fried chicken! Their sandwich is very good as well. Not only that but they have a variety of tasty sides and sauces (honey mustard being my fav one). Also their customer service is on point! If theres one place Id recommend to try is Ho Lee Chix for sure!
I ve been looking for good fried chicken in Montréal for years now and I ve finally found it. My girlfriend hates fried chicken because it s too greasy but this one had the perfect taste to grease ratio. Definitely #1 in Montréal!
Tried it once and now I have fried chicken cravings!! The burger is so tasty!!! And the staff is also friendly:)
Best fried chicken in Montreal! The noodles are insane! Amazing experience !
Wow !!!! Les bao sont OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Amazing food.
Chicken are ok but fills you out quickly and portion are generous
Good service, delicious vegan chicken and waffle fries.
The chicken is not seasoned. You have to eat it with the sauce. The breading is very dry and the chicken depending on when you are served can be dry because it is refried.... The tofu dish is very spicy and not particularly to my taste but it depends on the people.
Super fast and friendly service, delicious chicken, and surprisingly cheap!
Friendly staff. Good service. Chicken is amazing. Sides are delicious. Cheap prices. Will be back for more without a doubt!!
Perfectly crispy and tender chicken! They gave a generous portion and the staff was very friendly / understanding of me and my friends different allergies (nuts, peanuts, hemp, gluten). Oh and the chicken is gluten free!!! Flavourful sauce options. Great that you can also drink alcoholic beverages in the food court. Will definitely be back.
The fried chicken is absolutely delicious and the sides are great as well
Very nice spot! Friendly staff!! The pineapple sauce is amazing!!
Chicken is fried when your order, which makes it super hot so be careful !! They also have soya based chicken which is awesome. Plenty of cool sauces for you to choose with your chicken! Service was fast and staff are extremely friendly!
The food is very good... impeccable service... definitely recommended
Seriously! one of the best spots at Central with the yummiest fried chickens ever!
Loved the food so much! I tried it for the first time @ Le Central, took some vegies, with the fried rice, some peanut sauce, soooo delicious!! I dont eat meat, but the chicken looks yummy too. The people working there so nice and kind, thank u all!
Delicious GLUTEN FREE fried chicken! Really nice sidesand GF options , super nice staff! :)
Tried the 4 piece meal with 1 side (thai fried rice) and I was blown away with the chicken. It was fresh and juicy and well cooked (I saw them use a thermometer with every batch they fried). The dipping sauces paired with the chicken perfectly. You get 2 choices but i tried 3 (honey mustard, curry peanut butter and maple siracha). It was plenty of food and I was full for a low cost of 13 dollars tax included. Compared to the timeout market, this is way better. Its a great atmosphere at this high end food court and they sell alcohol at most restaurants there. Id definitely go back.
Fried chicken. Some pieces a little pink Good Chinese Mayo Sauce Good spicy chow mein noodles
The fried chicken here is cooled to perfection. A tender and juicy strip of meat with a wonderfully crisp batter. It was not at all greasy and each piece cooked to order. They also serve a wide selection of sides and really tasty sauces. Highly recommended
