Chinese food is known the world over. No matter what corner of earth one travels, one will find a Chinese restaurant with delicious Chinese food Fresh vegetables, jumping shrimp and plump ducks, combines with unique herbs and spices make up delectable dishes of china. The variety of styles of Chinese cuisine is endless; from the mild to the hot sizzling dishes; from simple fare such as dim sum to sumptuous feasts of 12 courses dinners. The magic of China is in its food.
I've been eating chiense food my whole life. This place is CLEAN and food better than 90% of Chinatown food. Deserves at least 4 stars.
I was at Shanghai Grill yesterday and, it was the most disappointing experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I ordered the birds nest on the recommendation of the waitress, and when I received it, I found it insipid and the chicken was undercooked. When I spoke to the owner, I told him I would like to have this substituted for something else. He flatly refused with anger and said that I had ordered it and therefore could do nothing As of result,, I paid my bill and walked out never to return again
Love it here. Best wonton and egg rolls. Food is always great and wonderful service 😊
Very good Chinese restaurant in Westmount with great service and a friendly atmosphere.
Good chinese food with vegetarian options. I loved veg Dumplings in peanut sauce. Fried rice and mapuso tofu was fine too. I personally don't like silky tofu much but this one was good. Affordable price with huge portions.
WORST “Chinese” food I have ever had. What a disgrace. It’s insulting that they would even charge over $10 per dish for this discusting garbage. The general tao chicken was basically over fried batter in old oil. The vegetables with tofu was corn starch soup with pieces of soggy vegetables and stale fried tofu.
Came here during our lunch break, ordered 2 spicy pad Thai on their special menu 10.95$ which is a very great price for the portion you get. Service is alright. Sadly, this pad Thai is very bland, close to tasting like nothing but chilly oil that the noodles were drenched into.
so nice, no matter the food or the service. Have a wonderful night here. Absolutely will come again. Recommand.
What a wonderful place to eat or take out from. Ronnie is simply amazing towards his customers. Food is so tasty.
Don t bother!
This is one of the best Chinese restaurants around. The food is great, the service is very friendly and the atmosphere welcoming.
Been here a ton of times for lunch. Every dish I have tried I thought was great This place definitely deserves higher ratings.
Unfortunately wrong order and poor customer service!
Fast service, very good food. The general tao is particularly crunchy and the peanut butter dumplings delicious. Very good lunchtime option.
First time at this restaurant. Shockingly bad food, for a place with lovely décor. Fried noodle sticks with a ketchup-based concoction posing as cherry sauce for dipping. The wonton soup was akin to a bowl of salt water, with a couple of tasteless wontons thrown in. When I bit into the vegetable egg roll, it surprisingly smelled and tasted like a combination of rotting meet and bleach. At this point I spoke to a woman in charge and told her the problem. She smiled and took my plate away without responding to my complaint. The peanut butter dumplings were okay so I thought Id give the main dish a chance. She brought the main dish of vegetables and shrimp. Again, there was that familiar taste and smell of bleach coming from this gelatinous goo. After trying the shrimp, I had to spit it out because it was rotten. The fried rice tasted like it was fried with charcoal and black pepper. It was awful! They saw I wasnt eating and came over to ask me if I wanted it to go. I told her I CANT EAT THIS! She shrugged and told me that the food here is good, and that nobody complains, and gave me the bill. I will never go back.
Great value tasty food!
I ate at this restaurant twice, the first time I ate the beef and broccoli. The beef was very gelatinous, like it was just fat, and the sauce barely tasted. I was in a bad situation so I went back and ate a chicken pasta... Same thing, the meat was very gelatinous, however, the chicken pieces really seemed to be chicken, but it looked like fake chicken . On top of that, there seemed to be eggshells or sand in the pad Thai, there were lots of little grains that crunched under my teeth, I didnt even eat half, I threw the whole thing away. not Thai... both times I didnt finish my meal, great waste of money... I dont recommend it to anyone.
Very attentive service, some of the best Ive had in a while. Great spot for Canadian Chinese food. Would recommend for a birthday or work outing Parking: Theres underground parking right beside the restaurant, very convenient
delicious food and very nice customer service
This is the first time I know about this restaurant. I have lived nearby for more than a year. My Peruvian friend brought me here and said that he has been eating here since he was a teenager. I haven t been to Shanghai and don t know much about it, but a Cantonese person can tell that there are more Cantonese dishes. I would like to say, you can add a little more sugar and vinegar/lemon juice to the peanut butter, it will taste better.
Wow ! Very good restaurant. The Duck is incredible 5/5. General Tao is delicious too. Excellent value for money for the table d hôte! Congratulations to the whole team!
Very nice people
The food was amazing went out to lunch with a group of coworkers for a 2 day conference, decided to go back the next day because we were all so satisfied
Such good food, great constumer service, was very fast, food was hot and perfectly spicy, and some of the best chinese food i have ever had.
My familys all-time favourite. I highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic chinease cuisine in Montreal.
Best lobster in the city!!!!
Ronnie, Jessica, the chef and the whole team are outstanding. Personalized service to an art form. The food is always excellent and your favorite dishes served perfectly. Best ginger wok lobster in Montréal and their corn and crabmeat soup is to.
Great food, great service. One of my favourite restaurants in the city.
We loved our order of caramelized general tao chicken with steamed vegetables. I dont understand why people are complaining, its one of the very good Chinese restaurants Ive tried. Fast. Very reasonable price! I recommend :)
Food is not bad but that was ruined when I got my bill and they charged me a different price than what was written on the menu... $38 instead of the listed price of $23. The owner insisted on not correcting my bill as there is a tiny print saying prices subject to change without notice. Never going back.
Good food and service at an affordable price.
Large order of $150 which is barely worth $40 elsewhere, lots of errors in the order. To flee
This has been my local go-to for Chinese takeout since before COVID. Their food is consistently better than other places, the ingredients they use are top notch. Over the years Ive tried a lot of dishes they offer and most have been standout renditions. I especially love their mu shu pork, Hunan dumplings, soups, and the table dhôtes are a great value. Vegetarian options: They have a variety of vegetarian options including soups, sides and main dishes Parking: Theres a parking lot around the corner between Ste Catherine and Dorchester, and ample street parking (metered)
When I order from a restaurant I expect to have some utensils especially when these are specified.... last time I ordered from you
Lousy food. Watery dumplings. Beef was chewy.
Great food great food wonderful linen service great staff cant wait to go back
I am horrified with the quality of the food... I almost gave to my child this old, stinky meat covered with layers of the souce imitating teryaki. Someone should really take care of this place before ppl start getting sick!!!
I was invited to this restaurant, not my usual kind of food anymore. I ordered the Beef and Broccoli with Shrimps, it was good actually. At least not too crowded either.
The waitress called, Jessi, was super rude Im sorry for you!
very good specialy the general Thao chicken my wife love the vegetables pad Thai
Huge disappointment. We ordered several items a la carte and the only thing we enjoyed was the Sesame Beef. The wontons in my soup were hard and uncooked. The General Tao was way too spicy. The spare ribs were dry and overcooked. The jasmine rice was fine but the chicken fried rice was overcooked. We spent $120.00 on Take-Out and expected way better. The quality has really gone down here. Will take our business elsewhere in the future.
Great service, tasty food and good portions! I come all the way from chateauguay to eat here so its totally worth it. We love the general Tao as its one of the best Ive tried. The lunch specials are amazing for its prices. The owner and daughter are very sweet.
First time in a very long time eating in this restaurant. It was ok. The hot and sour soup , was not hot and not sour. But it was salty. The hunan or peanut butter dumplings, were not hot and there was only a hint of peanut butter. The filling of the dumplings was non existent. We did have lobster. It was very tasty but small in size. I would have like more but I was really full. All in all the lobster made the dinner. Good value as long as youre not a big eater.
I ordered Hunan Dumplings and I found the dish to be lacking in flavour. And I didnt like the texture. Though I havent eaten lot of Chinese food so that may be partly responsible for why I didnt like it.
Great service, lobster so tasty! Portion was very big.
Very reasonable prices, great service, and good food. You cant ask for more than that!
Shanghainese celebrates birthday in Shanghai restaurant! The food is nothing to say! As a Shanghainese, I am very satisfied! The boss is quite nice! Real name recommendation! Business is booming! See you in the New Year!
Famous Chinese spot in Westmount since long. Generous portions, reasonable price, lovely service.
Very delicious
Ordered through Uber Eats on Nov. 10, 2021. Received the worst Chinese food I ever experienced. The honey garlic spareribs was over cooked to dark brown to black hard nuggets; the general Tao chicken over fried and heavily battered into inedible morsels; the spring rolls were fried in old or rancid oil; etc. If all was prepared fresh, then I would assume that these leftovers that I received is most likely just an anomaly and bad luck.
Hours are wrong online and on the door, opens late, employes ignores costumers and are rude
Good food and great service.
Small portion. Takes like leftover. Will not order again.
The service is impeccable and the food is clearly fresh!
Very good place. Went with my wife we were very pleased. Amazing service.
Good food and nice service
This restaurant is really not good. Vegetable dishes are all the same tasteless, oily mess. REmind me to never order from them again.
Delivery: shrimp on toast, chili bean eggplant, Szechuan shrimp, and lemongrass beef were delicious. Duck fried rice was alright. They forgot my spring roll but was refunded.
I had mixed vegetables with tofu, and a rice roll with seafood (shrimp). The portion size is large which worth the price. Came with an almond cookie. The tofu is fried and the veggies taste good.
I eat almost everyday there everything is delicious and their soups are just beyond delicious. Also the own and staff are so friendly . trust me try it
Ive eaten here at least 50 times and every meal has been delicious. Generous portions at a fair cost and the owner always takes great care of me and my staff.
Great food, nice staff and owner
Service was fine but the food really didnt taste good
I got food poisoned after eating their Dandan noodle and Thai Fried Rice. I am not sure which one caused it, I suspect it is either the chicken in the fried rice or the peanut sauce in the noodle. Yesterday night few hours after I ate the food (and i only ate their foods yesterday), I suddely felt strong stomachache and then laying down on the ground in my bathroom and blacked out for 2 hours. I threw out 3 times and blood in the toilet. I will put this place in my blacklist.
Great good and friendly staff
Im not very picky about food, but this one was too bad I couldnt eat my dish and I threw it away :( The egg rolls and spring rolls were passable on the other hand. I think the restaurant only sells frozen food
Food not great
Good place for a family gathering.
The food here was absolutely delicious. Portion size was just right. No doggy bag needed.
This Shanghai restaurant actually uses Hong Kong-style cooking. The waiters were quite polite, but the food was Hong Kong-style Shanghai cuisine. The portions were larger than I expected and the price was above average. There is also Peking duck, which tastes like roast duck. But the burrito was bought from outside and not made by myself. So its a little thicker.
Ordered 16 pad thais for a work lunch. They REEKED like dead fish, honestly. Even ordered a vegetarian one and it smelled like fish, so its not vegetarian-friendly. Many people asked me if the meat was raw fish, but it was actually chicken. So, everyone ate pad thais with uncooked chicken. This is a serious health hazard. Were just lucky nobody got sick yet. Will NEVER order from this restaurant again.
A friend show me this place and is it wonderful. For small and big groups alike.
Terrible management and rude, dont recommend going there
We got a variety of dishes through delivery, all smelled and tasted weird. We ate a bit because we were starving but it just tasted way too bad so we stopped and threw away everything. We all got stomach sickness afterwards.
THE BEST......Chinese food ever
Food is average. Service is good.
We alwayse order from this restaurant. I have never been disappointed, their meals are full of vegetables that are perfectly crisp and the general tao chicken is the best Ive ever had
Clean place and very good meal
Great for a fast lunch.
Very good local Chinese restaurant. General Tao is the best I ever ate.
The best General Tao; I have ever had in all my life!!
Lovely presentation of the plates. I very much enjoyed the lazy suzan and the ease of every one at the table being able to properly serve themselves and others. The food was great, specifically the seabass which was cooked to perfection. The restaurant was on the more quiet side which I prefer! So much more intimate. Great staff and very friendly service.
I wish I could give zero stars but alas, that is not an option. The delivery was quick, but the food was perhaps the worst thing I have ever smelt or tasted. The pad thai smelled rotten, the sesame beef had the texture of wet leather, the hunan dumplings were essentially frozen vegetables wrapped in dough and peanut butter sauce. We threw all of the food out because upon smelling and seeing the food, we looked at reviews and found that many previous customers who ordered through delivery experienced similar problems and ended up getting sick as a result. The only thing that was okay was the spring rolls. Just hoping I dont get sick.
Well run Chinese food restaurant in Westmount.
Ok.
I went there three days after Christmas 2017. I arrived after 8 pm and had one of their a la carte menu items. It involved a choice of soup (hot and sour or won ton) choice of appetizer (egg roll or peanut butter dumplings) and choice of main. I chose the Hot and Sour soup, peanut butter dumplings and their version of General Tao Chicken with steamed rice. Despite the late hour they were generally pleasant and served me in a timely manner. The three stars are because the General Tao Chicken was not too tasty. Everything else was fine except the price. The price tip included cost $31. A little too pricey but good food overall. Recommended.
The Pad Thai was delicious, then the service a1 I really liked my experience
Hidden gem in St. Catherines street in Westmount.
We ordered three times from this place via Foodora. The first time we loved it. The second time, an item was missing from our order and the food wasnt as good. We gave them another shot since we loved it so much the first time, and once again, an item was missing and we were dissapointed by the taste. Wont be ordering again.
Best gen tao eva.
My favorite Chinese restaurant. The peanut butter dumplings are incredibly good. The General Tao is the best Ive ever had. Its like eating dinner AND dessert at the same time. Its a very clean restaurant. The staff are friendly and professional. Love this place. Cant say anything better about this place bit nom, nooooom.
So So
I have been ordering there for 3 years. Hint im a vegetarian. I ordered a veggie plate. They gave me chicken.
The general tao tofu at lunch is the best Ive ever had !!!
Terrible service
The food is average, but the price is very expensive. The person who paid the bill was very impatient with us and even threw things at us. I dont understand what she was dissatisfied with. I will not go to this restaurant again. It didnt make me happy. Feel like Im a guest
I am from Sydney, Australia. I have never traveled to Canada, however this restaurant has fraudulently taken several hundreds of dollars over several small transactions from my credit card over the last couple of days. I have called the restaurant now to ask for an explanation and they have hung up on me without providing any explanation. You might want to think twice about swiping your credit card if you go to this restaurant. Not sure if the food is any good, but I would probably pay cash.
Good food fast service. Clean and we can talk. Great
One of the best General Tao in town! Also, the crab and asperagus soup is great!
Yum
Good soup & other dishes
Probably the worse restaurant there is. It all seem like fake meat...or anything else than chicken. They use glutamate (chemical taste enhancement that gets your heart rate go up, amoung other things) on almost everything. Make sure to have a bathroom nearby right after you finish that meal of yours. À éviter à tout prix.
Amazingly delicious. Best dumplings in peanut butter sauce I have ever had! The wait staff was friendly and welcoming.
Flavourless and quite frankly strange tasting Pad Thai.
Very Good Chinese and Thai For me, many good veggie options. Love the hot&sour soup. Very good dumplings. Love their Phad Thai and curry dishes. Default for even so-called spicy dishes is pretty mild, but if you ask for spicy, they will oblige. Restaurant is quite nice, seldom crowded, with very good staff, but I usually phone for home delivery. Good lunch options. Pay with credit card in restaurant or for delivery. Changed my rating from 5 to 2 stars because the manager told me that their vegetarian dishes, particularly Thai, contain fish, maybe crab. I could not get a straight answer and walked out. Theyve lost my trust.
Family owned well run and clean chinese restaurant.
Chicken does not feel like real meat. Badly coocked. To avoid
Im a regular and like their seafood dishes.
Nice people working there, 2 mins walk from my job, foods delicious, General Tao is the best I never ate there !! And other stuf lile Chicken Nest of crispy nodles, Tum Yum Soup, Fried Spinards and chicken in peanut butter sauce, all little special lunch plate at 8$ are all good ! And what to say about there Peanut Butter Dumplin mmmm !!! For the ones who are saying that îts not good, you just hit the maybe the wrong orders ...
Oh... In Shanghai you can get food similar to this.
We got sick!!!! Dont order from them! We where a group of ten in a bus from Ottawa and all got sick after stoping there!!! AVOID AT ALL COST
Really not good!
One of our favourite places! Sometimes the staff isnt the friendliest, but the food is always good. The have great combination dinners, so you can try several things for one price. Prices are very reasonable.
