CAFÉ GELATO - ST-LAURENT in Montreal

Small cafe discovered by accident. Super nice decor, nice variety of coffees, desserts, ice cream and even brunch. We tried the lattes (caramel and regular) which were excellent! Very friendly and fast service. I will definitely go back to taste more Addition: the brunch is excellent. The ricotta pancakes are amazing. So big, fluffy and tender, YUM. The breaded chicken panini is also a must, so tasty.

I had the chocolate and hazelnut ice cream and I didnt like it.

The employees refused to serve us even though the cafe was not yet closed. Bad experience.

Very bad service. Tried going in at 9:45 PM When google indicates the shop closes at 10:00 PM. Barely one second after setting foot in the store, the cashier tells us the shop is closed! Very disappointed

Went around 9pm only 4 flavours left and they were really sweet for my taste .. also it was too soft almost melted:( was excited to try the gelatos . Maybe come earlier during the day .

Food isn t the worst, the atmosphere was great but they kicked us out after 20 minutes of the game, because they had another reservation at our table. Wasn t a management issue they are just greedy to get more customers.

The gelato was mediocre but the atmosphere was good The big problem is the attitude of the workers, me and my friend got kicked out with violence because they wanted to give our table to someone else. And when we asked why they started lying and insulted us. When we were out the continued with the violence by stealing our phone and pushing us. Really bad do not recommend Especially for your safety.

DISGUSTING UNETHICAL PHYSICAL VIOLATION VERBAL VIOLATION Never go there for an event. They show no respect when it s full for matches. We reserved our place in advance, but they took our money and kicked us out after 20 minutes to seat another group and get their money. You cannot watch a full match there. I was with two minors, but they pushed us physically. They publicly violated us to kick us out. WE CALLED POLICE. Police showed up, but actually can do nothing. They say it s their place and when they tell you exit, you have to exit.

we went twice and they were out of quite a few options that my gf wanted to order. the the slush was very watery at first and we asked the worker to remake it. she seemed a bit annoyed but then brought it to our table which was nice of her (maybe she was having a bad day so its okay). we wouldnt recommend the strawberry matcha latte, it tastes very watered down. the decor is cute, and the affogato was decent (you cant really go wrong with ice cream in espresso honestly).

Gelato was all melted basically before it being served. Literally just got a cup of melted Oreo gelato. There was a younger pretty girl serving us but very rude. Way better gelato up the street

The ice cream is not worth it. Hygiene leaves much to be desired. Too much music it feels like a nightclub.

A $6 bambino cup? I find it exaggerated, they take us for imbeciles and I found the pistachio gelato very, very ordinary! Nothing to do with those of Italy we are in Little Italy, it s true!

Great discovery! The brunch is absolutely delicious, but also super affordable. Obviously, iced coffee is a must to try. I highly recommend and the owner is very friendly and dedicated. A real gem!

WOMEN BEWARE. I felt conflicted about whether or not to put up a review, because my experience was so horrible and bizarre I felt like there must be some kind of explanation. I ordered a cappuccino, and the milk was not steamed properly, the foam looked dry, lumpy, and the taste was off. No problem, its just a bad coffee. I drink it anyways because the staff seem new and I really just wanted caffeine. I try to use the washroom, the toilet is covered in hair, piss stains that seem so layered you could drag a fingernail through it, as if it had been weeks since anyone had cleaned it for real, and fresh pee all over the seat, more than Ive ever seen in my life. The floor and walls looked sticky and equally unhygienic. It was worse than the bathroom stalls at most clubs. Okay, so thats gross, but hey, I know what its like sometimes its hard to clean thoroughly and you dont get paid enough at these jobs. I sat back down. I kept seeing customers (more than 5 people) get up and go behind the counter to do things and I realized that, actually, all of them worked there except for me and one older man. Okay, so they come in on their day off just to eat and hang. No problem. But while Ive been sitting there, the older man has been trying to start a flirty conversation, staring at me for minutes straight with a smile on his face, winking at me, giggling at what Im saying to my friend on the phone. Im giving him looks to get him to take a hint, but it doesnt stop. I start looking around at the customers who are actually staff, they seem to notice that Im being bothered but also look away, and Im like, okay, sure, that happens sometimes, staff dont want to get involved, or maybe they didnt actually notice. But this guy would not QUIT, he was looking at me and acting like we were newlyweds, and Ive never spoken to him in his life. Cue: the old man gets up and goes behind the counter. I realize that hes probably their boss. This is the most bizarre family style cafe Ive ever experienced. Good luck, I hope Im wrong somehow or Ive misunderstood. I have to post this review because I want other women to have the most knowledge to act on.

Nice little neighborhood cafe

Super cute cafe with really rich gelato. I tried their mango and hazelnut gelato and was very pleased with the decadent flavours and creamy texture. It was also reasonably priced. The chocolate vanilla biscotti was also really good.

Really good gelato, decent pricing and portion size

I had a Mocha coffee with a French Vanilla gelato. The Mocha was very bitter, the taste was off in my opinion. The gelato was good but not on par with the best gelato in the region. Considering Gelato is in their name, I was very disappointed.

I got the dark chocolate gelato flavor and it was good but wayyy too rich and sugary. maybe a different flavor would be better

Honestly, this little restaurant is very accommodating and pet friendly. We were able to eat on the terrace with our dog without problem. Also, I had lost my wallet and they kept it until I returned, even though they were already closed. Very good service, good wine and the gelato is good.

Very nice place and very, very good ice cream! The problem is the service! You feel like youre just a number. We expect a little more heat when we come to enjoy ice cream with children.

Craving gelato late at night? This might be the only option, and it ll do the trick. Is it great gelato? No. Slightly grainy, melts quickly, taste isn t as rich as it should be. It s okay, but if you re looking for gelato at normal hours, there are better options in the neighbourhood. Late at night, this spot will do.

Ive had much better Gelato, the place is small, staff is friendly, prices are reasonable. Nothing stands out, pretty mediocre taste, not a large selection.

Very dissapointed we came all the way to have an ice cream around 2 pm today and they gave us a tiny ice cream. The ice cream is not all that, rather mid they barely fill a tiny cup, not even pressing down the first scoop It s was a man. I told him what happened?? Que miseria Why such a smal serving and he just proceeded to put a tiny bit more :( like a favor, like if I was annoying him The woman was more generous (like the normal quantity) Too bad won t return

Really creamy and simply yummy gelato! Hard to choose so got a 3 flavours cup: the biscuit was very comforting, the hazelnut was powerfully nutty and stracciatella was simple but generous with chunks of dark chocolates Staff very nice!

The mango gelato is perfect. And Baci gelato tastes just like the real thing. The gelato texture is very smooth and velvety. Need to come back to try more flavours.

The waiter is very rude. Just when I asked him to serve me coffee in a large cup..he made a face as if I was tiring..I almost canceled the order..he thinks hes the only coffee.., Im talking about the guy at the bar who has tattoos.

Super nice café where you can find everything, ice cream, coffee of all kinds, sweets including macaroons, sandwiches and much more! Their latte is smooth and balanced. TOP customer service. They also have a corner outside to sit quietly.

The pistachio gelato is phenomenal! You can tell they use real pistachios. All other flavors are very rich in flavor and delicious. Definitely would recommend. They also sell their gelato in 500ml buckets. I tried almost all flavors and they were fantastic, but the pistachio really stands out!

A nice little place in Little Italy. Several choices of ice cream. On this autumn day, I had a caffè-macchiato with a white powdered sugar croissant, filled with raspberries. Very good! I will come back here again!

We asked for two macchiatos, I think the guy didnt understand. Or I don t have the same references for a macchiato. After we came back he changed then he consulted us for the quantity of milk. I do not recommend

Pistachio and hazelnut gelato probably the best flavours I ve ever tried. Beautiful little terrace with a great vibe. Definitely going back.

They have a beautiful terrace and made our experience a lot more enjoyable. I loved their mango and tiramisu gelato. Their soft serve was funnily shaped and they serve a huge portion. It was the large one. It was so creamy and silky. Definitely enjoyed our little dessert!

It s a lovely place, really. They give you a nice little biscotti with your macchiato, which is a nice touch. I actually haven t even had the gelato yet :) Will fix that soon!

I went in and the service was quick and easy! A wonderful shop with plenty of flavours. I got pistachio gelato and it was delicious. I don t remember the second flavour but it has chocolate but it was great! If you walk by it, give it a try :)

Umm, I m letting this roll off my shoulder once and for all. I used to pass by this gelato shop way before it was bought by new owner and even before its name was changed to cafe Gelato. The gelato is one of the best in the area, coffee not so good (depends on who s making it - not all what so called barista know how to kill the cappuccino). Anyway, the what so called new owner you better stop telling returning-customers a table is reserved on the terrace when it was not occupied for the whole time that I was there (about 30mins). Come on, it s a gelato place and people will eat their ice-cream and leave so I have no idea what table reservation is for? Disappointed on how he handle the situation. unfollowed them on IG and that s it for me. There s a plenty of good gelaterias in the area.

Very disappointing taste experience. The gelato was granular, watery and had ice crystals in it.

My comment will seem harsh to you but compared to real Italian gelato (and I know what Im talking about), we are still far away. The use of natural ingredients seems low to me. The taste is there but far from exceptional. However, the small terrace and the Little Italy address present important factors in attracting customers. Raise the quality by using natural fruits and add a little love to the gelato and voila. Buona fortuna.

not really a gelateria despite its name... barmaids, alcohol and noise plus a bar that feels like it s in the city center rather than a gelateria in Little Italy. too bad because the place is very beautiful but between the prices of the ice creams and the atmosphere which is too club/bar. the mix doesnt work

How sad it is to lose clients due to a lack of seriousness pertaining to sanitary measures. Although we have appreciated this establishment in the past, we are no longer comfortable to support this business.

Not the first time Ive been here, but yesterday what pitiful service for a latte in the Italian quarter. No plant-based milk (no Soy, no Oat, nothing) and HORNING coffee! Clearly a barista, this waitress. Too bad, I wont come back again.

This week my girlfriend and I came twice. It s quite simply the best pistachio gelato in Montreal. I also tried a chocolate sorbet, WoW!!! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend it!

Paid almost $16 for two almost empty ice cream cones. I dont recommend this place. Very disappointing experience and way too expensive.

I visited them many times since the beginning of this summer. They have variety of gelato flovors. My favourite is pistachio. Their coffee is good as well. One of the thinga I liked is that you can see the specialist preparing gelato from behind the glass. I highly recommend it.

Enjoyed my gelato. Had the dark chocolate, pistachio and strawberry cheesecake.

One of the worst gelatos I have ever tried - tastes like water. I was expecting more from the reviews and from the location - we are mislead to think they have good gelatos just because they are in an Italian neighbourhood.

Is definitely the worst icecream I ever had. That cold thing they call gelato is watery, grainy and all flavors have the same taste of nothing. Although the location can make you think youll have an authentic Italian gelato, dont fall into this trap and avoid this place at any cost. Plus that, its not cheap at all.

Had Oreo and cappuccino gelato, really good, and service is nice, staff is super friendly. And also they gave so many attempting flavours

We stopped here to try a Canoli and got some gelato while we were here. First off it may have been out of their control but it stunk when we walked in. Like a backed up sewer. We were headed out of Little Italy and wanted a snack so we just went ahead and ordered. The gelato taste good but the Canoli was barely filled. The employee did good to fill the ends to make it appear as if it was filled all the way. Once we got back to the AirBnB we found that it was not. We got 3 and they were all like this. To be honest they didnt taste very good either. Maybe this was a one time thing but we were from out of town so we wont be back to find out. Wish we would have went somewhere else.
