Great cozy little retro diner in NDG. We went for brunch on a Sunday. The food was fantastic. I had the chicken salad sandwich which was super tasty! It is cash only Kid-friendliness: High chair available

This small, unpretentious restaurant is a true hidden gem in NDG. The menu is simple, but effective, with classics like breakfast sandwiches, pancakes and eggs. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food: everything was fresh and tasty. The service was quick and friendly, and the prices were reasonable. Small downside: you can only pay in cash. Also, the place is quite small, so its best to go there outside of peak hours. Despite these small inconveniences, I highly recommend NDG Luncheonnette for a quick and delicious meal.

Cash Only!!! Figured that might be helpful to mention up front but dont let that dissuade you from checking out this 5 star place! Food was excellent, really great menu. Waitress was sweet and our food was served promptly. Loved the old school diner esthétique. The capacity of the place is pretty small, even with the outdoor seating, so get there early! My boyfriend hates breakfast places but he enjoyed this one! He had the bagel and lox and they smoke their own salmon!

My new favorite in NDG the food was excellent and the service impeccable. We had the peach pancakes as well as the scrambled eggs (super fluffy and well seasoned) with bacon and sausage. I cant wait to go back for another brunch.

Cute 1950s style diner in NDG. We had their breakfast sandwich with homestyle potatoes. It was good but for a more expensive knockoff of Cosmos creation sandwich youre better off just going to Cosmos.

Delicious food made with love, served by friendly and helpful staff. I live in this area and have been here many times! Never disappoints! Parking: Lots of street parking in the area, not located on a busy street. Wheelchair accessibility: On the first floor, there were no stairs.

I.m not one to complain. Will get to the point. Loved the diner ambiance,and music from 40s-60s.Menu was very simple and short,would have appreciated some more fruits on breakfast menu. Ok so my wife and I arrived on a Saturday at 9:05 sweet and polite waitress serves us coffee right away,and by 9:10 we had given our order to her.I noticed that the cook had just stared putting potatoes on stove and doing his daily preps,which is usually done day before. We only got served at 9:55 ,thats 45 mins waiting,which normally doesnt,t bother me,but considering only 20 ppl can be seated in this resto and only 4 customers were in resto including myself. Then soon after I noticed that the other blonde waitress was cleaning the table with a cloth in which she had tucked in her shorts ,up her sweaty butt,literally. I would not say that I wouldnt give a second chance,but these issues should be addressed.

Lovely, old-school diner tucked away in the depths of NDG. I am pretty much never in this part of the city so glad I took the opportunity to try this place out while there in the daytime. This place has a retro-casual atmosphere, with some aged displays on the walls. I sat at the diner table as the booths were taken. Menu is a good variety of breakfast and lunch plates, all being freshly prepared before your eyes just like in the good ol days. I opted for the pancakes, which flavours rotate, to my delight it was banana chocolate chip. The pancakes were not large but of quality. I also really enjoyed their house lemonade. Service was good throughout my entire experience until I paid my bill and my servers eyes got a little wide. I tipped 16% and was still made to feel like I shouldnt have asked for any change at all which I didnt appreciate. But the rest of my experience here was so good I wouldnt say that ruined it.

A hidden little gem in NDG with great tasting homemade food sure to please everyone. The friendly staff definitely made the experience even better we will be back :) !

The platonic ideal Montreal diner. Good simple ingredients prepared perfectly. A rare 5 star review for a diner that does everything right and to the point. Weve tried almost everything and its all been great. The pancakes are dialed in perfectly, the breakfast sandwich is unbeatable and the salads are lovely too. The coffee is exactly what it should be and nothing more. Its not cheap, but watching the care that goes into each plate and the flawless (if simple and classic) execution makes it worth it. Honestly in the running for one of the best diners in city (and weve got some good ones!)

The food is great. Simple but cooked really well. The waitress we had was good at her job (sounds trite, but a lot of people suck at the basics)- periodic check in for coffee and water, pleasantries, not a long wait to order/get food/get bill. Here is why not 5 stars: 1) only option to pay is cash. Really? A square can be added to a phone. For the prices we paid, wasnt any cheaper than other places that serve breakfast. So what, the owners cant offer even interac? I sadly wont return, in 2024, no place should be cash only and push their high margin ATM in the basement as an alternative. 2) while a bit of a misunderstanding, the waitress asked if we wanted apancake to share as desert. I understood it as a comped freebie to try to upsell us on coming back, since we had said it was our first time. What came out was a full on dish added to our bill as more expensive than any dish wed ordered. I didnt complain, because it was a nebulous situation, but it was way too slick a play by them and left me annoyed. Sufficed to say while the food and service was quality, the final interactions mean unfortunately I have 0 intentions of ever going back.

Visited this restaurant recently and was initially impressed by the vibrant atmosphere and trendy decor. The wait to be seated, though 20 minutes, was enjoyable due to the pleasant vibe. However, the actual dining experience was a letdown. The food lacked craftsmanship, used low-quality ingredients, and was extremely overpriced for a basic breakfast. It seems this place relies heavily on its hyped ambiance, but unfortunately, the food does not match the high expectations. Would not recommend for those seeking a quality meal. DO NOT ORDER THE PANCAKE!

The food was revolting. I had to give my eggs away or I was going to throw up. Butter was tangy. Was told only rye came with my meal then the table beside was offered 3+ options for the exact same meal. Its on a dingy street. I was sick the rest of the day and my stomach is generally made of iron. We dont ever need to go back.

Had the JJ s breakfast and it was phenomenal. Soft scramble eggs are definitely the way to go, really enjoyed my brunch and the service was fantastic from everyone. Highly recommend getting a pancake on the side! Will be back for sure

Filter coffee was good, but not included. I had the full breakfast. Scrambled eggs were nice and fluffy. For the price I was expecting a notch above the competition, but it was just average. Cash only.

Everything about this place is a solid 5/5. Food is delicious and not overpriced. Staff is very friendly and the place feels like a little dinner. Not located in the nicest neighborhood and the capacity is quite small, but once you are inside and eating none of that matters. Recommend the beans, sausage and breakfast sandwich. Pancakes need a bit of work (too dry) but not bad by any means. Will be back again.

First off, the sausages are not the usual breakfast sausages. The food didn t agree with me. The cook plays with his cell phone while food is cooking. How much bacteria is there on cell phones? I am surprised the boss allowed that.

Lovely meal and a cosy diner. We tried the French toast and the breakfast Sandy , loved the syrup soaked French toast topped with bananas and pomegranate. The potatoes with breakfast sandy were flavourful and the burger hits all the right notes too with beef salami ,egg and sausage . Really nice coffee and lovely staff too. Will be back for more!

Overpriced, food was greasy, service was slow. Was hyped to see that something was finally opening where the old school italian bar was, but was disappointed it really feels like the beginning of gentrification of whats left of this part of the hood.

As a substitute teacher, your lunch options are very clear: bring a bag, or hit the town. Its a roll of the dice each time you hit that Google Maps search for restaurants closest to the school at which you find yourself that day. All this to say, I was pleasantly surprised to find such a gem within a 7 minute walk of a public school. Who knew? Obviously the locals who poured in at, well, lunchtime. Is there any other expectation for a luncheonette? I am not familiar with the term, but apparently they also serve breakfast anytime you fancy. It felt like a meticulously cleaned and refined version of a neighbourhood diner. Obviously the chef put great care into each item on the menu crafting, shaping, and building each hotdog or sandwich with the dedication of higher priced dining experiences. I had the egg salad. Wonderfully seasoned, fresh dill, potato chips on the side. Perfect. They only take cash which left me scrambling to stay without having to wash dishes for my meal. But it was worth the scramble.

I went for the first time in early May and was so happy! The service is amazing, the servers were so friendly and quick. The food is absolutely delicious! I don t understand why other reviewers are saying the food is greasy, it s the opposite! Also the prices are very reasonable. It s cash only but honestly who cares, bring cash with you or use their ATM, it s not the end of the world. I enjoyed it so much I have been back twice already. Long story short, food is amazing, staff is amazing, bring cash and enjoy!

Great food. The breakfast was delicious, and the coffee was great. It only loses a star for price, as I felt some of the add-ons and sides felt pricey for a take on simple breakfast. Still, the neighbourhood is lucky to have a spot like this, and I will definitely be back.

Cute little place very much like an old fashioned diner booths and bar seats right down to the black and white checked floors. Had the burger it was ok but the meat didnt hold together so it was kinda messy. Id like to try once more for breakfast, so Ill hold off on final judgment till then.

Classic diner with a 60s esthetic. The waitress was very nice and chatted with us about our day of gluttony. I had the smash burger and liked it, everything was cooked nicely. D The dish came with some kettle chips which were nice, but I think fries would have made the value better. My main complaint would be that the menu doesnt offer anything all that unique (breakfast, burger, hotdog, deli sandwich) and that the prices were a little high for what it was. Im glad I tried it and might give it another go if Im in the area.

A really nice little diner that has very good food. I really enjoyed my heirloom tomato salad, although it was not too filling, luckily they have a single pancake side which was so good. They only accept cash, but thats ok for me, better that the restaurant gets to keep all those fees. The place is very small though and can get busy. Vegetarian options: But many but enough veggie options

Finally tried this somewhat new local spot for a weekend brunch and we loved it. Sat at the bar, great service, cool retro vibes and yummy food. They were easy to adapt to my no- meat and gluten free diet. Will definitely be back.

While the restaurant wasn t much to look at from the outside the food and service was amazing. I got the pancakes with blueberries and ricotta. My friends got the breakfast sandwich and friend chicken sandwich. Everyone loved their meals. It s cash only but they do have an ATM machine inside. Lots of street parking was available. There was zero wait time on a Saturday at 10:30 am.

Gréât little old school breakfast/brunch spot. Many breakfast type items and many lunch type items. I had the breakfast sandwich and my friend had the fried chicken sandwich. Both were delicious and fresh!! Would recommend for a nice little casual brunch if you are in the area.

Ive come here 3 times so far, and over those 3 times, I have tried 6 to 7 items on the menu. I have not disliked a single one of them. Obviously I like some more than others, but the fact I havent disliked anything says a lot. The servers are have always been nice and give me the impression that they actually like working there, which tells me a lot about the place. Now, the atmosphere. Its got an old school jukebox kind of vibe, and music to couple with it. Think Neil Young - Heart of Gold. If you sit on the bar stools, you get to see the chefs making the food, and as mentioned earlier, they make some darn good food. Its calm, and relaxing, and perfect for the kind of food they serve. And finally, the price. First of all, its cash only. So, today we had an NDG burger and two JJs Breakfast. Total cost $56. Now, I know what youre thinking, thats a little pricey. And you know what youre right, but the food is nice and fresh, the atmosphere and people are great, and I still tipped 20% because I felt as though it was all worth it. The price is worth it in my opinion, and cash only is a small price to pay for some fantastic food. TL;DR: Cash only. 10/10 worth it. Great food. Great people.

Bigger bonus, make sure to check their Instagram as they can have sneaky delicious meals not on the regular menu up for order. Got the steak dish which was perfectly cooked with this wonderful freshly made chimichurri type salsa loved the home made potatoes so much had to bring an order home! Sat right up at the counter and could watch them cook, super friendly and suggestive staff
