This is a restaurant in a school for students to practice and gain experience in the their trades. It is very reasonably priced to eat here and hard to find another French restaurant that doesn't cost at least double. With this in consideration, the students and teachers are trying and succeeding in doing a reasonable job and offering reasonable quality. If you are picky, you will find some points of criticism, but you can also just enjoy! The price is very reasonable for a 3 course meal based on 2 or 3 selections for each course. This menu changes from time to time, so it might be fun to go try their new menus when it changes. Each day, it can be a different group of students from different classes. Apparently, maybe on evenings and weekends, the restaurant is with hired staff instead of students.

The food was okay. For the menu when we went, i had the braised lamb, pannacota and squash soup. Staring with the soup, it was yummy except it had massive seeds still in it, a little unpleasant to enjoy the soup with that in it. As for the lamb, texture and fall apart was was spot on. However, the flavouring got messed up. The lamb itself didn’t carry much flavour, but the sauce did and it was super salty (I love salt yet it’s still salty for me). The saltiness all went into the carbs instead of the lamb. A little disappointing. The pana cotta was Yuma no complains there. Therefore, could’ve been a lot better if these were taken into account in tasting before service. As for my partners choice, she had the fish. And I’m glad I went with salty lamb instead because the fish was not at all fresh, had the taken from the freezer and defrosted it flavour. The sauce was unappetizing. Her dessert was something with the pear and that was also not a nice choice. Overall, I believe that culinary students can do much better and am also empathetic that it’s a learning process.

La Classe is a part of College LaSalle Hotel/Restaurant management program. Students work here and have opportunities to learn managing this restaurant. Serving amazing food at amazing price. My favorite restaurant in Montreal for lunch.

This is the cheap way to experience fine dining. The food was inconsistent and the service made itself known that you were the lab rat they were trying their hands on. The food was good quality however some were tastier than others. For example the stuffed quail was great but the salmon wellington not so much. The millefouile was great but the verrine dessert was straight up a canned unpitted peach. For a menu with only 4 choices per course ordering is sort of a landmine. Our waiter was brand new. From taking our orders in the most random sequence (ei. skipping over people and coming back at the end) to not knowing how to open a bottle of wine (with the standard bottle opener) or even how to pour it without it dribbling. It is my understanding that these students are completely naive to the dining experience itself. Perhaps it may serve them well to treat themselves to a fine dining meal first as an introduction before having to conduct it as a server. For the record these things were more or less expected as this is a college. But I was hoping the bill payment step would be taken more seriously. It was a very quiet lunch and even after taking our dessert plates no one brought us our bill. This lead to one of us going up to pay for part of the bill and the splitting went completely haywire. Please remember that every meal costs the exact same. All we wanted to do was to split the wine evenly between the 8 of us. This was complicated by the fact that one person wanted to pay for their family of four while the others paid for themselves. Instead this person was charged for five people but not the wine while the wine was split between the other 3. This made for a very awkward question of who would pay for what bill (one person payed and we split it among us privately). I can't help thinking this would not have been a problem in any other restaurant and certainly could have been avoided had more care been payed to this process. 4 This is worth a go if you're short on cash and would like to try the fine dining 3 course experience. Don't order the alcohol it's not worth it and be prepared for a long meal (~2.5 hours)

Amazing food at an affordable price. You have a group of culinary students who both cook and serve the food. My dessert portion is a little smaller than I expected but considering it’s only $25 for a 3 course meal, guess I can’t really complain. Service was a hit or miss though. Some of the students are very shy and didn’t really know how to serve in a restaurant setting yet.

La Classe in Montréal is a culinary gem, offering a sophisticated dining experience complemented by impeccable service. The well-presented staff adds to the refined atmosphere, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to excellence. Culinary masterpieces, beautifully presented and crafted with precision, showcase a dedication to quality ingredients. The staff's knowledge and passion for gastronomy, along with their warm and personalized service, create a luxurious yet welcoming ambiance. From the moment you enter to the last delightful bite, La Classe earns its well-deserved five-star rating, making it a standout in Montréal's dining scene. They also had made a dish on the house for my daughter, a very kind gesture.

Absolutely phenomenal and one of Montreal’s hidden gems. 3 course lunch for $21, dinner for $22, Run by a head chef and culinary students with a changing menu for lunch/dinner every week. So glad we discovered this place. After going for lunch, we booked a reservation for dinner the next day!! The lobster roll appetizer and halibut main were amazing! Steak could’ve used a little more salt but otherwise pretty good. Not sure if this will be around in other weeks, but the Lemon pistachio tart is one of the best desserts I’ve ever had!!

Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are available Dietary restrictions: Dietary options for guests with allergies are available Parking: This is a culinary school for training Maîtres dhôte, Dining room Supervisors, Waiters and Assistant Waiters, so expect some delay in the service : the supper took about 3 hours, as compared to 2 hours or less for a normal 3-course meal...

Ive been wanting to try it for a long time! My verdict: I cant wait to go back, the food was extraordinary, its worth twice the price! On the other hand obviously, its a CLASS (school), so dont be surprised that the service is provided by students (yesterday, surprisingly 100% English-speaking, but hey, that didnt bother us so much, they are learning the Frenchman we were told...). This gives rise to your slightly comical exchanges (eg: do you have decaf? and then you clearly see that the person doesnt know that latte, it exists in a decaf version! Or you ask for mint herbal tea and a herbal tea arrives with ginger... Or you ask are you open during the holidays? The girl answers yes yes and there will be a special menu for Christmas and the manager comes to see you and says uh, no we is closed for parties!). In short, it didnt bother us, we just found it funny (and put it down to cultural differences, it was pretty much all Indians). As for the atmosphere, its in the basement of a school, so dont bring a first date here lets say. But I repeat, the food was INCREDIBLE so we will come back! :)

We went to this restaurant for a three course dinner with affordable price. The starters and desserts both were well presented and tasty. However l personal consider the students didnt master the heat well so the main courses we had ( beef bourguignon) are harder than usual, same problem with the dough of ravioli. Is it worth to visit? I would say YEs, kind of experience to having meals from future chefs. But for the similar price, downtown has many choices.

I will give 4 stars for this restaurant which cooked by chef students. They made a pretty good job on all the dishes what I had. The whole experience was excellent. I highly recommended this restaurant to encourage the students (who would love to become a kitchen chef in the futur). And the price is ridiculously super affordable!!!!

The environment is quiet and the service is very good. Thanks to la Classe , my friend and I enjoyed the meal. The orange flavor of the appetizer was a bit strong and overpowered the duck, and the arugula was the finishing touch. I really, really enjoyed the passion fruit dessert, it was really good!

Everyone was very friendly. Otherwise.. just, an odd experience overall. Wasnt sure what I was supporting... student chefs are practicing their cooking skills, and their finished products arent wasted by being served to paying customers? If thats the goal, then Im glad I could support not wasting of food, and the education/practice of learning chefs. But just how everything was done... like the utensils being used to serve the food by the chefs/students, unpredictable portions being served, how things were served on plates where certain things would have a lot of liquid so it would mix with other food on you plate (ex. Mediterranean salad liquid mixing w/ the shrimp salad, salmon, etc.. and the food itself.. just not really inspiring. Kind of felt like basic recipes, no surprises or twists. Salmon was bit overcooked/dry. Gravy/Au Jus wasnt great. Desserts were.. awful. Panna cotta did not set at all, so it was soupy. Something (w/ apricot?) on a sponge cake, my wife thought it was a joke because of how hard the sponge part was.. Banana foster, not good. Decor was... Idk I guess I was expecting different based on google/website pictures. Kind of felt/ was like a small cafeteria in the basement of a corporate office building. No diet soda available. Seemed like noone was there to really take charge, students were just not trying to mess up serving the food. Kind of pricey for what it was, I think it came out to $70-something for two people for dinner, with 2 cappuccinos... in theory not expensive at all for a dinner (that was supposed to be a 3-course but was changed to a buffet on arrival), but for the actual food that was served and how it was served and the overall ambiance.. my wife and I regretted coming here as part of our 4 day trip to Montreal. But, very friendly student chefs/workers. Easy to book online and find the building. Still happy to support young people working on culinary careers.

I came to eat with the Montréal à table concept. 4 courses soup, starter, main course, dessert. Everything was ok until dessert. I had the mont royal, with meringue that smelled strongly of egg. I wondered if this was normal. I start to eat then the taste was very strong, the whipped cream tasted like milk not very good. My girlfriend took everything the same as me except dessert. At 2 a.m. I get up to throw up. I think I had food poisoning. This is the first time this has happened to me. Im okay this morning. But it could have been worse.

Came here for MTL à Table, price fixed menu at $35. Overall a nice meal at a great price, service was attentive and friendly, and four courses for the price was ambitious. Detailed dish review below! Courses: 0) Homemade bread was good, green onion butter made it even better! (8/10) 1) Lobster Bisque was okay (6/10) 2) Scallop and blood pudding with pear butter (pictured below). This was by far my favourite dish, well seasoned and balanced flavours. (10/10) 3) veal scallopini was on the chewier side, had a hard time cutting it with the provided dinner knife. Flavours so-so, but the gnocchi was really nice. My partner got the salmon brioche, they said it was too salty and still had bones. I would try one of the other dishes if you go. (4/10) 4) white mousse dessert was nice, so was the cake which came with a fun flavoured berry sorbet. (8/10)

Amazing price, excellent food and great service. The restaurant is inside Lasalle college building. The colliery students work with their professors to create very elegant and delicious food. Hotel management and other students try their best to serve you to their best. One orders a complete meal, starter, main course, dessert and tea/coffee with an unbelievably low price. (I ve never seen higher than 22$ per complete meal) They change the menu every couple of weeks and there s always something new to discover.
