Elegant French restaurant offering formal service & an upscale wine list in a Victorian mansion.
My wife and I and another couple had dinner here while visiting Montreal last week (we are from Ontario and they are from England). We all agreed we had one of the best French dining experiences we have had in a very long time. The owner was funny, charming and engaging, while the décor was both cozy and classy, but not pretentious. Service was prompt and attentive. Particular standouts from the menu were the French onion soup and the duck confit. Five stars all around. Highly recommended.
The food was excellent…. The scallop dish and lamb shank were perfectly executed and every accompanying component to each dish treated with respect and presented beautifully… The wine list was extensive and impressive… An old school classic French dining experience in a comfortable classy atmosphere. Attentive service, and in addition I was even fortunate enough to receive a valuable lesson on napkin placement etiquette. If I had but one concern it would be that the crème brûlée was not properly caramelized, but it was a minor concern in the scope of the overall dining experience.
L’Autre Saison is a place with the decor that reminds me of meals and restaurants in Montmartre, Paris. This place serves excellent dishes which I would definitely rate it as a 5-stars establishment had there been good services. Almost as soon as we walked into the restaurant, the owner’s attitude was borderline racially prejudiced against Asians. From the shaking of his head to remarks like “the days of free bread are long gone” or “Is that all you ordered?”, he definitely treated us very differently than to the 3 white customers who sat at the table next to ours. Those customers ordered less than we did but were treated with courtesy and friendliness. The owner also came by several times to have small talks with them while totally ignoring us. Service here is a 0 since there is no negative 5 for rating. Food-wise, this place is easily a 4.5 stars. 1. The snails were served in vol-au-vent style with a delicious garlicky creamy sauce. Since it was not served with bread, we had to order a basket of 6 excellent bread rolls at $10.50. 2. The creamy foie gras was excellent and paired real well with the house pinot noir one of us ordered. No, the owner did not suggest anything. 3. The onion soup was good but had too much onions and not enough soup. 4. The duck confit dish is possibly one of the best I’ve eaten. It rivals with good French restaurants in major cities such as Paris and Washington, D.C.. 5. The tarte tatin served à la mode was delicious. Each bite of apple reminds me of a great bistro in Montmartre. This restaurant offers a great dining experience for non-Asians who would be treated with courtesy and great service. Based on our own experience, I cannot and will not recommend this racially prejudiced restaurant to non whites. In short, there are other French restaurants in Montreal that offers the same level of food quality with much better service.
I brought my daughter and wife here for dinner and it was a delightful experience. The scenery is very worldly and interesting. The staff was great to talk to. The beef is the best I've ever tasted and this is coming from someone who has tried $1000 kobe beef in Japan! The owner is also a very interesting and kind person. Highly recommended!
This place is fantastic! Service was excellent, and every dish was spot on. We shared two orders the escargot and they split it up individually for us. Duck, lamb shank, shrimp and beef rib, all super yummy. Will definitely return next time in Montreal.
We had 2 wonderful dinners here while in Montreal. The service was excellent and all of our food was delicious. The owner treats everyone like family. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Not only does the delicious meal make you feel amazing, but the sincere conversation with Mr. Kazım enhances the experience even further. I haven't had such a delicious French Onion soup even in Paris. If you truly want to taste exquisite meals in a great atmosphere, where you and your meal are genuinely cared for, and you are a nice person (this is a requirement to get in :) ), you must visit this place. Thank you for such a great experience ❤️
Traditional French cuisine. The food, the decor remind me of meals at my grandmother's in Paris! The escargots were not in their shells but they were even better in vol-au-vent with a garlicky creamy sauce. The lamb shank was exactly what mom would make. My wife's soup and fish (black cod) were perfect - best tasting French style fish I've ever had. The live piano, the over-the-top antiques and decor make for a unbeatable retro-lux experience.
A hidden gem! The service is impeccable and the food perfect. A lovely, quiet elegance with attentive but not intrusive service. Highly recommend for a wonderful experience!
What an amazing experience. Service ! Food ! Wonderful people ! What more can you ask for !!
Amazing food! Owner is really nice Try the steak !! Food
This restaurant for which we reserved for 15 people and paid a deposit for during F1 week-end refused to sit us down because they couldn t move tables for us to sit together when we had friends from Australia visiting us. The man waiter that saw us come in was VERY RUDE, and the restaurant was completely empty. I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. Skip it. Doesn t deserve your money. We did. They had the decency to not take the deposit in the end.
Would have loved to have gone here while we were in town, but with no phone number on the website we wandered over only to find a sign taped to the door that they were closed for a month. It would have been great if the website could have put a note about that up on their website. Otherwise, were excited to visit again in the future.
Brought my better half there to celebrate a couple months ago and forgot to leave a review Our bar seats were nicely set-up with linens and proper utensils. We were both impressed with every dish. The live piano was a fun atmosphere. The fresh flower bouquets were impressive. Got to meet the chef and also the owner, and since we sat at the bar, I had a drink with the devil I dont think this is a good place for snobby people or cheap people or abusive people with mental problems, theyll probably refuse to serve you (hence the 1 star reviews). If youre a normal person who enjoys life and have money for a 4 course meal with high-end wine, this place is totally awesome.
Very bad service. I called to place a take-out order as indicated on their website. The person on the line said that the owner was busy and was going to call me back as soon as he s free. Twenty minutes or so later, I called again to see whether I could actually place an order as I was hoping to have a not so late dinner, and the person at the other end of the line rudely replied by saying that they only take orders at the bar. I am very disappointed with the service. Will probably never eat or try to place an order there again.
Previous review: Very bad service. Owners reply: I m very happy you didn t get to taste my food because I believe very strongly. You don t deserve it when I answer the phone. I was very polite to you. I said we take take out order at the counter at the bar. That s all I said person for that there were so many idiots like you make an order $300/$400/$500 Was prepared end of the day. Nobody came to pick up. Nobody paid our cost either. I m sorry you get offended, but after reading this review you put on Google. You don t deserve to be served by us. Have a great life. Following up on my previous review, I am actually quite amazed by the reply that I had to share with the Internet community. I definitely understand that there are some people who make outrageous orders and dont show up to pay or pick up subsequently, which ultimately ends up as sunk costs, to the detriment of the restaurant. I would have understood had it been explained to me the first time (or the second for that matter) in respectful words and not insults like idiots. Be that as it may, when I first called to place an order (after reading on the restaurants website that they take pickup orders by phone - they are the ones who indicated it themselves unless I am now crazy too on top of being an idiot), I was respectfully told that it was not possible at the moment and that the owner would call me back. Half an hour later, around 8pm, I decided to call back as my window to order a good meal in good restaurants was quickly closing, and thats when I got a rude reply regarding the take up orders at the counter. We may have a difference of opinion, but I maintain that your reply was rude when I called the second time, as opposed to the first time, which was very polite, and I am comforted by your reply here, which is beyond disrespectful. At least we agree on a few things, I dont want to pay a meal from somebody talking to me in that way and insulting me. I hope other customers wont an experience as unpleasant as mine.
The food was really good. Furthermore, The owner was very polite and friendly. Really enjoyed it and recommended.
Our first visiting. Excellent service, all the staff are friendly and helpful, so does the manger. We ordered salmon and they are well cooked and tasty, the portion is also generous. Absolutely enjoyed the dinner and would recommend.
This is our first time visiting, and I can confidently say its beyond a 5-star experience. Everything was perfect the food, hospitality, and the old man owner is incredibly kind and generous. Ill definitely be coming back.
The employees were attentive. The food was delicious
Amazing food, great vibes, outstanding service! A MUST in Montreal!!!
Wow, Ive never ,ever in my life received such rude treatment in a restaurant, anywhere in the world. 7:15, I walked in and asked if I could be seated at the bar for a bowl of soup and a glass of wine. One body sitting at the bar, perhaps 2 tables with patrons. A very rude, arrogant little man said no reservation no service.
Very good food and very friendly personal service
Live piano, exceptionally delicious French cuisine, beyond phenomenal service and what a location an old mansion!!! We loved every minute and relished every morsel. Thank you! Merci. Recommended 100%
The food is pretty good, however the staff is extremely cold, the waitress who looks at you askance and doesnt crack a smile. She barely speaks, a rather embarrassing experience.
I ve been dining at l Autre Saison for nearly two years and I have to say I am blown away every time by Chef Alain s meals. I quickly fell in love with the whole experience of the restaurant on a Saturday night with a bottle of red wine, lamb chops, and crème brûlée all backdropped with a piano serenade it is heaven. The reviews degrading Kazim, the bartender and owner of 45 years saddens me a little bit. From getting to know him, I have gained huge respect for the man who cares for his business, family, and friends greatly. Mayghann, the head waitress is one of the greatest joys to grace my life in Montreal. Her service is unparalleled, I ve yet to experience a similar experience elsewhere - she is a rarity in French gastronomy. I give this place the goldest of stars!
Duck confit is highly recommended, as the lamb rack. Salads are delicious. The staff is fantastic.
Exceptional food, service and atmosphere. Boutique restaurant, worth visiting. Expensive but worth the experience.
I strongly advise against it, I called for information and was literally insulted. You have plenty of other choices in Montreal in terms of restaurants
Nice Authentic French cuisine!
Food made with unrivaled expertise. It feels like youre in one of the best restaurants in Paris. A piece of authentic European culture in the heart of Montreal. I thought I was in culinary paradise, the flavors I tasted, the flavors offered by the restaurant are unique.
The net is very good. Kazim brother is also a wonderful person.
food was great.
Authentic French cuisine and nice atmosphere. Live piano music. The food was delicious and the escargot was a standout. They do seem to really care about the ability to speak French, dress, and etiquette so be prepared to receive criticism around that.
The service is lousy and he is rude to customers
So the food is not bad but the owner thinks he is superior to people he is manners and was not welcoming I am very disappointed with this experience it is unfortunate to see that there are still people who behave like this.
My first time there was awesome I did not know what to expect its a little pricey but its worth it and wine was tasty.
My wife and I had our most exceptional dining experience at the L Autre Saison. The food is delectable and the presentation exquisite. We started with the escargot (simply wonderful). I savored the confit de canard while my wife enjoyed the lobster special, a completely shelled lobster in a cream sauce that was simply splendid. We ended our dinner with the tarte fine aux pommes and a cognac. Though this was our first visit, we were treated like we were long time good friends and felt so welcome and relaxed as so clearly did all the other patrons that night. The service was attentive and courteous. There was a large party celebrating a birthday and the chef brought out a custom cake for them. We all cheered on the birthday gal. This is fine dining at its best. With that being said, if you would like to have the same wonderful experience that we were so lucky to experience I suggest that you should reciprocate the same courtesy and civility to your host as they will do for you. This is five star restaurant and as such make a reservation if you can, even it is last minute. While we did not have reservations, Kazim, the owner, graciously made room for us after we politely inquired how long in advance, we should make reservations. Extending the courtesy of making a reservation, allows Kazim to plan and ensure that the proper accommodations can be made for all his guest. This was truly a wonderful treat for our 25th Anniversary. This now our favorite restaurant, not just in Montreal, but our favorite overall. We will continue to come and visit every chance we get.
Excellent and affordable!
It was my first time visiting L Autre Saison. The restaurant was recommended and for a good reason. If you are looking for a place that provides high quality food, prepared with utmost skill; combined with relaxing sounds of piano in the background and unique ambiance, this is the place to visit. My complements both to the chef and to the host of the place. Looking forward to visiting again in the future when I am in Montreal next time.
We had been there many times before. But this time I am so upset by price gouging. One of our salads was overcharged by $10.00 but the most outrageous item was my birthday cake.$123.00. My family and I will never be back and I m telling everyone to watch your bills carefully. Prices are far more reasonable elsewhere. Parking: There are parking lots but charge at least $25.00
dishonest
Horrible service and price guaging. The menu is in English and French. At first glance, there is nothing wrong with it. Whats outrageous is that there are a few extra charges when checking out: 1. My dad and I ordered two cups of hot water, and my dad refilled a cup after finishing the drink. The price showed $6 per cup, plus three cups of refills, so it was $18. The list still says water lemon, but there is no lemon in the water? Ask the waiter and say that our boss ordered it like this 2. The cold water my mother ordered was $10.50, because it was a bottle of Aqua panna bottled water. I wonder why it is so delicate? There is an ice bucket next to the dining table to chill a bottle of water. It turns out that it costs money. The problem is that these prices are not on the menu, and the waiter didn t tell us about the pricing. 3. When ordering, we agreed that we would share two main dishes, but the cost of sharing was $15 on the bill. The checkout waiter said that the rule here is that if each person does not order an appetizer and a main dish, a sharing fee will be added (?) She didnt tell us this beforehand, but she brought the menu and pointed out the last page There is a line of small print that says that there is an additional $15 for meal sharing. Such a setting actually dared to be written on the menu, I should have photographed it and left it as evidence 4. I was added a 20% tip when I was handed the bill. Although I thought their service was ok up to that point and wanted to give 20%, but now there are so many unreasonable charges on the bill and they don t tell me that I have already added it. Im not happy with the tip. There is a mandatory 15% tip for restaurants with more than 6 people, but we only have 3 of us. Fortunately, I confirmed that I added a tip and did not give any more. To sum it up, it was outrageous operations one after another. We were bluffed at the moment, afraid that we did not understand the rules of French cuisine. Although such a request is outrageous, it seems useless to argue with the waiter about these things, and the result was we were ripped off. Please fight for your customer rights if this happens to you too.
Excellent Food, service. One of the best in Montreal
Perfect French restaurant in Montreal. Fantastic food, the duck is fenomenal. The staff is adorable. The wine selection covers all tastes and budgets. Top on my list. Food
The manger is very rude, he certainly doesn t want to serve customers, and he said you wait 30mins when it s empty in the restaurant. We choose not to wait, then he said just go. Which is unacceptable and very rude! RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! Don t go , uncles you want to get kick out. Thanks.
The old manager was rude also had very bad attitude, he yelled at me and my wife, said go! because we just don t wanna Wait for 30mins and leave. (We we re hungry during the trip) his ego and prejudice gave me headaches. Very bad experiences in Montreal! I will never come back!
On Google its listed as mid priced but is actually more higher priced but worth it beautiful restaurant great food and staff
Miss smile from the boss or the manager that day . He wasn t friendly
This is a French restaurant whose cuisine is refined, delicate and of high quality! Contrary to recent opinions! Furthermore, the welcome was cordial and the prices, it is true, a little high, but in line with the type expected. Recommended for those willing to pay the price. Flawless in my opinion
Had a lovely time dining at L Autre Saison , and it was definitely one of my most memorable experiences in Montreal. I will be sure to visit whenever I am back in Montreal.
I never did get to make a reservation as they hung up on me because I asked a question twice . Very rude
We had a great meal. The manager/owner was delightful. Despite other reviews. Will definitely return next trip to Montréal
Stumbled upon this restaurant on a walk from our hotel. The proprietor, Kazim was an absolute delight. He made us feel like we were dining in his home. The escargot in a garlicky, mushroom cream sauce was delicious. The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly with an herb crust.
A beautiful resto with the best vibe you couldn t ask for a place that feels more like home. The owner is a sweet man who is very personable.
Fabulous Restaurant , the food is delecious and the owner is such an amazing man, he makes you feel as if you are home , a part of his family and everyone loves him there
Jin Fang Wu Happy Birthday! Phoetos!
Simply one of Montreal finest restaurants. Food is outstanding and the service is extraordinary. From the moment you walk through the front door youll feel the character and charm of this historic building. As you enter, youll be greeted by Meghans beautiful, warm and welcoming smile that will instantly make you feel like you re part of the family. Kazims charm is unmistakable, and Alains cooking is out of this world. Without question my favourite place in Montreal to eat, drink and relax.
This place was amazing. The restaurant was gorgeous and intimate, perfect for a romantic dinner. It is a small family restaurant and everyone is super nice. The chef is excellent at his job and the food was delicious, with modifications able to be made for allergies. I will definitely be going back again.
The dishes are delicious! Excellent food/wine pairings and courteous and friendly service from our host Meghan. The music played on the piano in the evening adds a warm and harmonious note to the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was an unforgettable evening with friends. We will definitely be back!
The food is still as good as the first time I came 20 years ago. I gave 4 stars because the crème brûlée was sold out today Great service and live piano music during dinner time.
French cuisine par excellence.
Incredible host, nice decor, good piano, cheerful waitress....
It was a privilege to dine here. Absolutely outstanding from first bite to last. The service was elegant and attentive. The ambience was quite charming. One of the finest meals I have had in quite some time. I will definitely visit here again and recommend it to anyone who wants a memorable experience in Montreal. A truly authentic French dining experience.
Attentive service, outstanding food coupled with ambiance that rivals that of the south do France.
Food was absolutely to die for! Very nice services and beautiful atmosphere. The owner was very polite and made us feel at home! 11/10 would come back again! We will be sure to spread our experience to close friends!
Great all the way around (food, wine list, service, vibe)
Authentic French food with a warm, hospitable atmosphere!
Did this restaurant used to be called something else?
Amazing food and experience
Great food quality and amazing service. We like the salmon and lamb. Very happy dining experience.
The ambiance here is amazing. Its cozy and well put together. It feels like a dinner party of old friends that havent seen each other in a long time tucked away treasure in an old mansion. The wait staff is also phenomenal here and playfully personable. The food was great and the ingredients were clearly fresh and of high quality as could be told from the fresh Gazpacho soup which was crisp, clean, a very refreshing. The escargot entrée appetizer is quite different than other standard escargot dishes. Its more of a mushroom cream sauce with escargot and a basic puff pastry dessert shell. Still delicious. I wanted the duck confit entrée appetizer but it was changed to a main platter with basic sides for $42. The dessert was also delicious even if not made here, they ended the meal well. Be aware that the restaurant owner will charge you $6.50 for 2 pieces of bread and butter if you do not order a main plate even if you order multiple entrées and dessert.
Unfriendly, pretentious, refusing customers without reservation despite the place being nearly empty. Spend your money at a respectable restaurant instead.
Excellent food, very friendly staff. However we went back on another day and they forced us to leave after we made a comment about the piano lesson going on in the restaurant. It was very rude and unnecessary. We certainly will never return there.
An elegant and quiet place, very good onion soup and good desserts!!!
Wonderful staff and amazing traditional French fare. Everything was fresh and made from scratch. Even the table bread was warm and crispy on the outside. The French Onion soup and escargot were exactly what I was craving. So yummy.
Meghan is the best!
Owners have abhorrent attitudes towards people of colour. The only redeeming quality of this establishment are the standards of their service workers. If the food was half as good as it is expensive it would be worthy of being described as cuisine.
Had a company gathering here. The owner and the staff were really accommodating and went above and beyond. Live piano music that wasnt too loud or quiet allowed for a perfect evening. The waitress was also a gem, funny, honest and memorable. Would definitely come back
EDIT: just read other reviews and sad to see that there does seem to be a racism issue here :(( So I m not sure if we just went at a bad time, if we had a bad waiter, if they were racist (we are Asian and spoke English to each other, even though we could speak French to them), if we weren t dressed well enough , etc.. My mother had come to town and we wanted to enjoy some French food together. We walked in and asked for a table of two, and they told us 45 minutes. We said we could wait, and asked where to sit (they had no entry seating). He told us pretty coldly to just I don t know, walk around? gesturing out the door. On a nice summer day that s one thing, but that day it was starting to get really chilly and it was completely dark already. It seemed pretty clear to my mother and I that for some reason, we weren t wanted at the restaurant. No clue how good the food was, because the waiters rudely shooed us out. Shame, because the ambiance seemed nice, with lovely live classical piano that we were greatly enjoying.
We had one day/night in Montreal and happened upon this gem for lunch enjoyed it so much that we booked a same day dinner reservation. The staff clearly loves what they do, including the kitchen. You will not be disappointed and the ambiance could not be more perfect. Merci.
Absolutely wonderful experience! Fabulous food, great service, beautiful atmosphere. It felt like we were at a lovely French restaurant and we lingered for over 2 hours. I wish I didn t have dinner reservations elsewhere or I would come back for dinner!
If I understand correctly, we met Mr. Kazim, a Turk who has been running a restaurant in Montreal for 50 years, he took good care of us and the food was great. If you happen to be there, be sure to stop by.
Elegant environment, quite piano. Friendly waitress, tasty food. Thanks, you made my first day in Montreal!
Incredible experience. Amazing food wonderful staff. Try the escargot, best in the city for sure.
Un professionnal waitress cursed in front of clients outside waiting on taxi...
Feels like you are home. The owner, wait staff, pianist, and chef, all went out of their way to introduce themselves and had great conversations with us. The salmon with wild mushrooms was one of the best meals Ive had in years. Cannot wait to visit them again next time we are in Montreal.
Great dinner, I will surly come back
Great lunch. Excellent Service. Outstanding food. Around the corner from the Museum of Fine Arts, this place feels like an extension with many fine art pieces on the wall. Great French Cuisine. Highly recommended.
Good food and cozy atmosphere
Very delicious, great price and friendly staff. Will comeback definitely
Excellent restaurant. The take out and delivery service was simply exceptional. A must if youre looking for authentic French cuisine.
Wow! Have grabbed a take-out recently. I cant belive how good it looks and how amazing it tastes!! 5 stars!
Excellent food, the best service, super delicious, the chef is art in food
Very pleasant and good atmosphere. Attentive server.
Very good food, very good service, and very friendly.
Staff was exceptionally friendly, food and service were fantastic. They created custom dishes for us, and the sea food and wine was excellent French cuisine by any standards. The escargot was also uniquely displayed and well executed.
Very good food. Haughty staff...
Great food in a quiet and friendly environment. Do NOT miss this place!
Im sorry I didnt have a chance to try the food here, cuz as soon as we entered one guy with arm crossed told us its closed. IT WAS 8:30pm. Funny hah. Wish i could rate under 1 star.
During our visit to Montreal we have eaten here twice. First time was an outstanding lunch on the patio. Service by the waitress was great as well as the food. We decided to come back for dinner the next day and made reservations. Since we were eating inside we had an older gentleman (50s) for our head waiter. Food was again excellent, dinning room was very pleasant. However the head waiter was very dismissive took an opportunity to run up the bill a bit and decided he did not like us; so we did not see much of him despite spending $300 on a slow nite. His staff did their best to cover for him. His service was 2 star and the above 4 star rating is only due to the above fantastic food and patio service.
Quality of the food, service, ambiance, all top notch. Ive never had a bad meal here. Lunch on the outdoor terrace is definitely a big plus!
Top shelf all around!
Been going there for couple years now. Love the food and the decor.
Amazing restaurant! Everything was so delicious and succulent right down to the grand finale of tiramisu. The wine list is extensive and they recommend fabulous pairings. The waiter Nino is the best waiter in the city with his 30 years of experience giving the complete fine dining experience and atmosphere in this Victorian Mansion.
Personable owner and staff.. High level of service, exceptional food, with intimate classic decor. AK
I stumbled onto this very beautiful restaurant while on a one day business trip looking for a place for a nice diner . I am a foodie and a wine collector and after reading their menus outside I thought the place seamed really nice. I was alone so sat at the bar and ordered a descent martini to start . While I was busy finishing a task on my smart phone, the waiter came 3 times rushing me to order ; I said please give me 5 minutes as I hadn t even had one sip of my Martini . He said I ll give you 6 minutes ! (I thought at first he was kidding but NOT)... so I gave him my order and then, being in an upscale French restaurant, I asked the older guy behind the bar what wines where available by the glass; He replied Cabernet & Merlot while looking at his cell phone ... I was surprised by this very basic response considering it seamed to be a fine dining establishment . So I asked him again and he replied (while still looking at his cell phone : I already told you Cabernet and Merlot . Although the guy was being rude, I asked him politely could you please tell me what are the choices ? At that point, while still having his eyes on his cell phone, he grabbed a bottle of a Turkish wine and aggressively shouted Don t worry will take care of you . Waooo ! That was a surprise in a so called fine dining French restaurant . I mentioned to the waiter who was actually friendly why I was treated that way by this grumpy aggressive old men ? The waiter replied oh I m sorry but it s the owner . At that point I paid for my martini and left . I walked down a couple blocks and ended up at a delicious French brasserie with exceptional food and service Le Pois Penche.
Good food. And if you are willing to put up with disrespectful and frankly obnoxious service by the Italian guy then visit. He will force you to order more . You will see items on your table and then the bill that you clearly said no to. Also, he will add 25% group tip even for 1 person, later saying that it cannot be removed, because the machine adds it. I saw patrons at three tables raising eyebrows and disputing the bill.
The food is great and the service is FRIENDLY. Some could find it rude but I dont. They are human and service with a charm of their own.
Good
Very good, high quality restaurant!
Poor entrecote quality. Watch out for the bill! They include the 15% tip in the price on card payment without asking if we agree!!!! To me this is called theft!!!
Excellent Food, great service, very pleasant environment, lovely neighborhood. Cleanest bathroom in any restaurant Ive been in, in years. Will come back the next time we visit Montreals Museum of Fine Arts just up the street.
Friendly staff, warm ambience and exclusive atmosphere. Always a great time!
One of the best in Montreal.
Our second day in Montreal- made to feel very welcome by Nino and his daughter-food and service excellent- an excellent start to our Canadian adventure. You will not regret this wonderful experience--Jim and Judy--Pittsburgh PA- home of the Penguins
A very pleasant place for lunch. We enjoyed the covered outdoor seating. The daily menu offers interesting choices with options for soup or salad. We tried two different fish dishes, each were prepared and presented very nicely.
Were visiting from out of town and saw the delicious items on the menu so we decided to eat here. First bad experience was my boyfriend being accosted when he wanted to use the washroom and were initially seated on patio (I had no issue doing the same thing moments earlier as a white female). After learning there was live piano playing in side we decided to sit inside for dinner. My boyfriend notified the server inside that we were wanting to move to a table inside. Place was 25% occupied and he was told it would be at least 30 mins wait?! This was obviously racial discrimination as he is a Jamaican-Canadian. The night was close to over and no way they were expecting a full house in the last 2 hours of business. So we left! Disgusted with this treatment and shame to the restaurant. Will not be bringing our business here and will notify our friends of the negative values this establishment practices(seems that disrespect is a common theme as posted by previous review).
Exceptional wine list and Extraordinary French cuisine! The 2003 Margaux Ch teau La Tour was elegance in a bottle and the lamb was perfectly prepared. We were happy to find this exquisite Victorian Mansion while walking back to our room at the Loewes Hotel. We were treated to exceptional service by our waiter outside and enjoyed the friendly service of our bartender (the owner) when sipping an after dinner Port. The inside housed beautiful displays of antiquities, white linen covered tables, restored fireplaces, an elegant bar and a gorgeous grand piano. The owner was jovial and shared stories of his family, famous guests and the various musical instruments. We hope he will play the violin for you during your next visit.
We have visited here several times while visiting Montreal over the years and always had a 5 star experience. Great food, service & beautiful décor. Its one of our most memorable restaurants in Montreal.
Excellent service and food. One of my favourite in town
The best food! Love the live music
Very good but service needs improvement
This establishment deserves NO STARS, the manager/owner is RACIST and is completely disrespectful. This man is the scum of the earth and it shows. Not worth your time and certainly not your money.
Really enjoyed my meal here. The coq au vin was delicious but the zucchini soup was the best! The bartender and owner were extremely friendly and made me feel welcome. Surprised to see some bad reviews here. I had nothing but a superb experience. The prices were also quite reasonable. Nice atmosphere as well
The owner was very friendly and attended to the customers himself. The rack of lamb is heartwarming and unpretentious. The poor reviews was from months ago, with what I experienced a while ago there was no rudeness from anyone at all.
Amazing restaurant. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and there was a variety of drinks and meals to choose from. Definitely will return
I wish I could put less than -5 Stars the staff was nice the restaurant is nice BUT the owner is a monster! Insulted me for no reason in front of my parents and my friends! Never ever coming back there again!
I was on the terrace of this restaurant today, its Formula 1 so really busy, we had our starters, and a huge battle broke out between other customers of the restaurant, who obviously had too much drunk, we left even injured, we didnt have our main course... after the bad moment we came back to the restaurant... and no apology was offered to us, they even wanted to load us with the plates which we even not received. Bad service from the manager, the waiter did his best.
The food is good. I will give it 4/5 for the food. But I was treated badly by the manager. I used the Groupon. I brought my print out to the restaurant. Suddenly an old man approach with an offensive attitude saying that my Groupon is invalid I asked him if he has computer with internet so that I can login to Groupon site and show him the Groupon. He refused and asked to call Groupon myself. He kept saying that he could not help me. He asked me to go to photocopy center myself to reprint the Groupon. Finally, I got my coupon show up on my cellphone (which take a lot of time) and he was able to claim it. My Groupon is finally valid but he didnt even apologize for any inconvenience he made. It is fine that if you doubt a custom groupon or discount. But please do not come forward with a offensive attitude. The manager is rude and ruined my dinner with my wife. I dont want to get back to this restaurant anymore even the food was good.
