Unpretentious BYOB option with set-price menus of inspired starters & meat-centric French entrees.
An authentic French restaurant with great quality and freshness. I'd recommend you to go to this place if you want to try true French culinary delights and cuisine, without having to pay $4-500, like other French fine dinings. Their menu is traditonal and basic rather than too much of artificialities, which I like. Cozy French atmosphere is a plus!
A delicious and memorable dinner! Generous yet sensible portions of classic French cuisine at a very fair price. Impeccable service and a very welcoming and homey environment.
Food was amazing! Unfortunately would not recommend the beef tartar, but the rest was phenomenal. I was surprised to see no vegetarian option at all at a restaurant in Montreal, so just keep that in mind. It's been a few days but I'm still dreaming about the paté that came with the bread 🤤
Awesome place. Probably my favorite place to eat in Montreal. The prices are very reasonable for the great tasting food. We paid about $150 CAD for a 4 course meal for a couple. You could immediately tell they put a lot of work into their meals. We were very glad that they were able to accommodate us last minute. We will definitely come back.
So authentic and cozy! This place feels like you’re sitting in your own home with an amazing chef preparing your meal. The food is really tasty. They offer a fixed menu where you choose your starter, main course, and dessert. Pègase is a bring-your-own-wine restaurant. The dishes could compete with those from a fine dining establishment—they are super tasty. I was so happy with the service; everyone was incredibly friendly.
Highly recommend you book a spot in advance, the restaurant is a little bit small but there is a good amount of seating. I’ve been here a few times and the authentic French food and service is always great. I recommend bringing your own bottle of wine to go with your food since the restaurant does not have alcohol for purchase. The servers will help you uncork it and put in a container of ice to keep it cool, all free of charge.
Very reasonably priced. $52-$62 per meal. No corking fee for bringing your own bottle of wine. They don't serve alcohol so if you don't bring your own, you won't be able to order any there. The bison steak was supposed to be medium rare but came out very rare and under done. They did try to fix it and provided a free dessert as an apology. Overall still a fantastic experience and would definitely go back
During my recent visit, the restaurant impressed with fantastic food and top-notch service. The staff's caring nature was evident as they allowed time for menu translation and offered a break before dessert. The ambiance was pleasant, contributing to a positive dining experience. However, the fish lacked crispy skin, and the creme brulee lacked vanilla seeds and a perfectly burnt caramel. These minor flaws aside, the overall experience was memorable, with flavors that delighted the taste buds and attentive service. Recommended, with room for improvement.
One of the best restaurants I have visited.
A must!
All the food was great, but the dessert was a big disappointment! Churros that are burnt on the outside and not cooked on the inside are really ordinary! The place is also very small and we were jostled in our table by people waiting in line inside the restaurant itself. It was chaotic and borderline a little stressful towards the end. The arancini and pasta were magnificently good!!
I arrive prepared everything
Refined French cuisine. I loved it.
Everything is more than perfect price service and quality
I really like the restaurant - its cozy and intimate. The service was also good and friendly. I think their appetizers and desserts definitely require some improvement in their taste. However, considering the price is really affordable, I think I will come back.
Alright. Good service. The lamb is super good. The rutabaga soup is no surprise, the rest is great.
Great experience. All the food was delicious and the service was great. The employees accommodated changes for my son as well. Only flaw is the place could get a little noisy. But overall AWESOME experience.
Our dinner experience was amazing. Our main course duck and fish had great flavor and cooked just right. We missed our dinner time by a couple hours by mistake. They still tried to find a way to accommodate even though the restaurant was super busy. Food
We had booked the weekend of October 19, i.e. Saturday and we had confirmation (sister-in-law), when we arrived the restaurant was closed indicating vacancy. We were angry and disappointed.
Its always a treat! The food there is excellent. Reservation is necessary.
Unassuming, homie dishes. Friendly neighborhood restaurant. You can bring your own wine. Small space. The complimentary warm baguette slices with butter and liver mousse at the beginning of the meal were nice. Got the butternut squash soup, mini croque monsieur with duck confit, bison bavette, chocolate mousse. My friend got the salad, boudin noir puff pastry with pear compote, duck breast, tart tatin. With tax and tips it was ok.
Parking: The restaurant gave us a parking voucher. Food
Very nice address. The meats and their cooking are perfect, the desserts good. The starter, profiteroles with braised beef and goat cheese, a little disappointing because the cheese masked the beef. Well come back to it because it was good
Very good experience at Pégase, impeccable service and the meat was succulent
Best place in se world
Lovely food. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The menu is meant to be had from top to bottom. Damien was very personable and even made sure he came out to say goodbye as we left. Parking: There are a lot of permitted residential parking spots, making it difficult to find one that doesnt require a permit.
Truly exceptional
An honest business. I was lucky to stumble upon this place. For at least 8 years now, when I am in town (Montreal), I stop in. Until next time...
Excellent table dhote meal. Great service. Perfectly sized portions and very tasty too.
A warm and pleasant welcome, a cuisine with very good potential. We just didnt understand the itinerant who was drinking his beer in the kitchen. It was a lot of fun for us
Warm family vibes there. The food portion was hugeeee. Deer meat was surprisingly tender and juicy.
The restaurant as a hole has a very intimate and refined feels to it. The plates were gorgeous and the portions were generous. One of a kind !
One of our favorite restaurants in montreal. Delicious four course dining, cozy atmosphere and very good value. Our fav is Profiteroles with Honey and Braised Beef, The Bison, rack of lamb and tarte tatin for dessert
Everything is good on the menu. The waiters have been working there for a long time and they love what they do.
Nothing to complain about...perfect experience
A must to try. Very good. Plus its a BRING YOUR WINE MY BOY!! Epic. Affordable fine cuisine.
Very decent restaurant with the delicious food and extremely nice people
What a place! You feel welcomed there! Food is made with love and care. Crammed yes, but I see it as a charming aspect. I wish them everlasting success!
Excellent quality of food, very generous portions 4 services table dhote! Lowkey decor in a house, very friendly staff, family-run style
Amazing!!! Cant say more. If you want a glass of wine, dont forget to bring your own.
Still one of my favourite restaurants after all these years! Amazing food, great service, affordable prices and BYOW!! Definitely a MUST try if youve never been and love French gastronomy as much as I do!
My favorite restaurant for flavors in the mouth. Yesterday I went with my wife for the 2nd time and again a score of 11/10 for good tastes! The facade and interior of the restaurant will always impress me. Quality versus price is incredible and I have a healthy appetite. I searched Google Reviews and people complain that the table is reserved for only 2.5 hours per service and that they cannot stick for 17 hours. Its an intimate restaurant with like 9 tables!!! If there werent multiple services I imagine it wouldnt be profitable, so a little understanding. Those who blame the owner for a bad attitude, surely your attitude is worse haha
Super good!
Large portion. Good price. Fast service.
excellent service and table dhôte which delivers the goods
By far one of the best meals I ve had in a long time. The service is superb, food is fresh and tasty!!
I preferred to lick my fingers rather than wipe them. Nothing to add. I preferred to lick my fingers than wipe them. Nothing more to add.
Very good food!!!
Very good site
10/10! Great food and amazing price. The restaurant is small but cozy. The food is sooooo good! Will come back for sure
Best restaurant in Montreal quality/price
We had a French 3-Course dinner at Le Pégase with super reasonable price at about $50 CAD. It s not delicate but overall delicious with huge portion. Both of their pork ribs and rack of lamb were cooked perfectly with the right temperature & seasoning.
Delicate and fine dishes Explanatory and friendly service of the dishes I recommend
Favourite restaurant in Montreal! Definitely recommend.
we arrived for the early dinner reservation (5:45 i think) but the service was so slow that we missed a comedy show at 8:30.
A great discovery, we feel at home!
I liked going to this restaurant but I was a little disappointed when I arrived since contrary to what is suggested on the site, you are obliged to take their gourmet table. The site lists prices for starters and desserts but none of this is available. I, who wanted only one dish, had to take 3/4 of my formula home. The starters were perfectly executed but my wife and I were disappointed with the mains (ribs and bison). The flavors were ordinary. I had also just eaten bison at Hoogan and Beaufort the same week and we were light years apart. In short, for a bill at $150 for two, I think I would favor other establishments in the future.
A gem of a French restaurant. Each dish was fantastic. Excellent quality and freshness of ingredients prepared to perfection.Ambiance is nice , not too loud, friendly attentive staff. The only problem with our dinner was that our wine was corked! LOL, so next time we will bring a second bottle. Lesson learned!
One of the best in town. Highly recommend!!
All of them were really delicious! Cheap. Go for it! Starter: turnip soup, like Chinese taste; salad Foie gras, tuna tataki Dish: bison flank steak, doe medallion Dessert: rice pudding, crème brûlée
The service, the atmosphere and above all the quality of the food is incredible compared to the bill!
Very cozy and homey restaurant. Delicious food and excellent service.great vibe!
One of the best places I ve been in Montreal. Delicious food and cozy place
Meal: The appetizer of puffs was overweight because of the feta cheese. The duck breast has ribs, the dessert is very sweet, the foie gras on the bread has no fishy smell, and the soup is delicious. Service: The old service staff has a cold attitude and does not take the initiative to provide services.
Cozy restaurant, staffs are friendly, food is next level. Simple sweet potato soup but taste is so comforting , my son finished the whole bowl in one go. Duck confit as appetizer is delicious. Short ribs is tender and juicy, the best I had. Creme Brulee is so creamy, rich in eggs and with a crunchy topping. We had a delightful meal, will definitely come back.
Great restaurant. The food is very good and reasonably priced.
Great food, great value and cozy atmosphere!
Small restaurant, nice atmosphere. The food is very good. I highly recommend.
What a great discovery! Really really good, great service! Well done to the whole team!
Cozy restaurant with out standing food. Will definitely be back!
One of the best restaurants Ive been to in all of Canada! An incredible dinner which also offers a Trou Normand option. The meat is cooked deliciously and with sauces that go together incredibly well. Between the croque monsieur and the duck as a starter, including the rabbit paste and the duck breast that melts in the mouth... The cooks know how to remake culinary classics by revisiting them with their own sauce. We feel that this restaurant has its own cuisine but also a soul! We realize this by talking to regulars who come regularly and give advice to newcomers! Congratulations and keep it up! The little extra bring your own wine which will allow you to take exactly the wine you need!
A superb French experience in this atypical restaurant!
We came here to celebrate my boyfriend s birthday and it is our first time having French cuisine together. Amazing food and experience. You can bring your own wine. Servers are extremely friendly and explained the dishes to us (only French menu is provided). Very affordable prices for a set menu that includes soup/salad, appetizer, main and dessert - they are very generous with portion. Definitely go with an empty stomach and you won t be disappointed!! Will visit here again when we are in Montreal next time. :)
I had high expectations when visiting Le Peagase in Montreal, but unfortunately, they were not met. To start, the soup we ordered was extremely bland and watery, failing to impress as a starter. Moving on to the entrees, while the tartar and Profiteroles au b uf braisé et fromage de chèvre were enjoyable, the black pudding Parmentier left much to be desired. For the main dishes, the rack of lamb and rabbit pasta were average, lacking the special touch that would make them stand out. Although the rabbit pasta sauce was decent, the overall experience fell short of expectations. However, the ribs stood out as the highlight of the meal well-flavored, tender, and truly enjoyable. On a positive note, the dessert selection was exceptional, with each offering delivering delightful flavors and textures. Additionally, I appreciated the option to bring our own wine, which added to the overall dining experience.
A Really Nice French Restaurant! A Wonderful Find for Me Will be Fun to Explore the Rest of the Menu in the Coming Months! June24 2022 after COVID got 2 starters a Tartar & a Foie Gras and for a Main some nice lamb with a decent BORDEAUX! With a Reasonable Bill and decent Service!!The Bone Marrow Appetizer was good and I really enjoyed the Duck Breast!!! July 24/22. Now the Deer July31/2022 Excellent with nicely aged Medoc 2009 just right for Deer! Got Bison with a Riscal Gran Reserva quite nice! For the New Years a 2017 Altesino Montisoli Brunello ( personal opinion still to young and is lacking the Classic Montisoli Taste last year I can identify was 2014 not that Good but identifiable as Montisoli! :() quite a nice wine! Had it with lamb chops! Good Bision with a La Grand Art Medoc Bordeaux April 11/24
A lovely resto with a friendly and unpretentious approach. The value for money is spot on. I would like to see options for vegetarian mains, perhaps its possible if you make arrangements in advance. I liked that there was a mix of locals and tourists, with everyone given the same attentive service. Its a tad on the loud side as its a bustling place, but that was fine with us.
Fix your website
Great little restaurant, impeccable food and a very good choice of products. Parking is an issue so arrive early. A little disappointed with the wait time for our table to be ready, even though we had reserved. Popular restaurant and always full but its worth it. Nice variety of dishes. A great discovery.
Wow very very good and the owner great! Thank you for a lovely evening.
Exceptional restaurant. Both in terms of cuisine and service. For trying a good French restaurant. We had a little apprehension of haughty service. But at Pegasus. We found cuisine and service worthy of an EXCELLENT Restaurant and as a bonus a very warm atmosphere/service. I recommend the Pegase to everyone. Plus, the price is affordable (2 people / 70-80 x2) and its bring your own wine.
I was a little worried when I entered a 4 and a half apartment style converted into a restaurant. We arrived first so no one in the restaurant, the waiters very welcoming, but dressed normally (no uniform) and when I received the menu: a sheet of paper in a plastic sleeve, I wondered in what kind of restaurant I had invited my parents! BUT My worry was quickly dissipated when the waiter explained the dishes to us with such mouth-watering precision. The presentation of the dishes was magnificent. The taste was also there! A French restaurant that is worth the detour. My father even said as he left that he was going to come back and that it was a great discovery! The prices are far from exaggerated. The restaurant was full at the time! I highly recommend it!
My girlfriend eats there often and hyped the food before we went, thinking she was exaggerating a bit. She didn t hyped it enough because it was simply perfect, from the service to the food, going back next week already and more than exited to try something new!
Delicious! Will be back!
A treat from starter to dessert ! There were more than 15 of us and we were all served very well. The plates are generous, very well presented, modern and above all rich in taste! Each product is highlighted, well accompanied, the cooking is controlled. Delicious combinations of textures and flavors We will return with great pleasure! Vegetarian options: Dish composed of fried cauliflower revisited delicious!
A treat! Very friendly welcome and good food. Congratulations to the Chef! A ceviche that takes you on a journey, a beef rib so tender that it can be cut with a fork and an exceptional chocolate die I had heard a lot about this restaurant, now I understand why. See you soon Vegetarian options: There were 2 vegetarians with us, and they loved it.
Ive been here 3x and counting still.... the spread that comes with the bread is to die for (so good that I had to buy some to take home)! Their soup is always so tasty and comforting
Absolutely amazing!!! Everything was spectacular. Tried many items on the menu (went with small group) and my favorites were the beef profiteroles and the foccaccia/fried bocconcini, the duck and bison, and the pear and white chocolate cake. but all so so good
Really good food and service Will come again XD
Hidden in a residential area, is this gem of a restaurant. Small, crammed and loud which ironically all add to its charm. The food was exceptional, beautifully cooked and presented. Every bite was delicious from entre to dessert. The escargot with blue cheese was a symphony of flavor dancing in your mouth. Of course its a bring your own wine which adds to its appeal. A reservation is a must and on busy nights expect to wait a few minutes until a table frees up.
Very nice experience at a very reasonable price. Thanks to the whole team!
Service is really and food is splendid at all times like I always wanted every time I come here. Spent my first birthday with my newly married husband here and it was all I needed. I liked their chicken liver pate that is complimentary with the bread, we both got their turnip soup that is delicious. Then foie gras for me and escargot for him, foie gras has a lot of wine in there that couldn t taste the bad organ at all which I liked. My husband has had bad escargot before but this one he liked as well. My husband wasn t very used to the medium rare lamb but I had a good time with my bison, also with the beet purée that was so flavourful. The dessert was definitely the best ending of the whole meal. Home baked apple pie with ice cream on the side, warm and cold at the same time, perfect ending! Definitely coming back every time I m in Montreal :) Also special thanks to both servers and hats off to the chef <3
It was delicious, and I enjoyed every dish, especially the venison. The owner was very friendly, maybe because the restaurant was recommended by so many people on a Chinese social media Little red book, so most of the customers were Chinese Hope I ll have a chance to visit again.
My words are few to describe the extraordinary culinary experience that I was given to discover for the first time at Le Pégase! By the warm welcome of the owner Damien, a very kind, attentive gentleman! This place reflects an atmosphere that will make you feel at home. The selection of food is frankly exquisite, this restaurant is a real marvel, I recommend! The flavors are very sought after, beautiful presentations of the plates and the service was impeccable. I loved all the dishes ordered, I will definitely come back! Thank you to your great team and greetings to my server, David, who was very friendly and helpful, a very endearing professional! See you soon!
What a great experience I had in this restaurant! Nice atmosphere, perfect service and the food was divine!
I came all the way from Toronto and this restaurant did not disappoint! My boyfriend had the foie gras as appetizer and it tastes wonderful, my escargot was delicious as well. For the main dish, my lamb rack is slightly more fantastic than my boyfriends bison. The dessert was a delight as well
This is my second time eating at Le Pegase tonight. It wasntt the same as the first time. Execution with the kitchen is disappointing this evening. The save is the price point
Superb restaurant everything was perfect
Did dinner on New Years eve and was blown away by the food throughout the dinner. Must try if visiting!
Wow! Super nice restaurant, incredible food, and a BYOB Im going back
Very good choice of restaurant, bring your own wine. Happy cooking!
10/10 best restaurant of our trip. BYOB make sure to bring a bottle! Our favorites - beouf braise and medaillon de beouf (puff pastry and short rib). Chocolate lava is to die for. The service, the energy and the food are all amazing.
Top of the range. Really good dinner.
Food is delicious. Service excellent. Price reasonable.
Havent been since 2017 as I moved out of QC... what a wonderful experience
Great ambiance, excellent food, and incredible service. Owner and staff are super friendly.
Excellent meal and service. The owner and staff were extremely accommodating to our large group of 14. We came back after the restaurant had closed because we thought we forgot an item. The owner was more then willing to open the door and let us have a look around even after they had already checked for us. All around wonderful experience and staff - highly recommend!
I came with a large group of 10+ people for a reunion and we were blown away by the service and food! From the pate that came with the starter bread we knew we would like the food. I especially loved the carrot soup. Don t miss the lamb ravioli, profiteroles, and cheesecake! We were stuffed by the end :) The waiter/waitress were so gracious (we know we were so loud, we tried to be less!- we got looks from other patrons but they never said a thing) and got all our food out quickly and at the same time.
After several visits to this restaurant, yesterday was the last time I went there. The price is way too high for the plates we have. We are RIGHT to 2:30am. for a reservation of a table because of the double service but we cannot taste our wine quietly before ordering because of the owners obsession with freeing the table on time. I understand the principle very well but not the attitude of the owner.
The dishes are generous and the service is very good~~
A pure delight!!! I voted it the best French restaurant in Montreal. From starter to dessert, only good surprises, taste, quantity... The only downside is that the room is noisy.
Fabulous find of a restaurant. Three of us dined there and each meal was incredible. Another kicker is you bring your own wine with no corkage. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. A true Montréal treasure!
Small, cozy French restaurant hidden away in a residential neighbourhood. A nice find. Food was excellent, lots of delicious choices. Quantity also quite generous! First time at Pegase, will come back for sure
Still as good and refined
This is by far one of my favorite restaurant ever for French cuisine. You can always expect quality. Excellent service. And a nice experience overall. The goat cheese profiteroles are the GOAT. I could eat that all day. Then whatever else you choose will be delicious.
Excellent meals and generous portions. Particular attention was paid to allergies (gluten and lactose). Strong recommendation!
Very tight and not much place in between tables. Thus not much privacy. But the food is great! Everything was so good and service was professional and friendly at the same time.
Meal was amazing Another kicker is you bring your own wine with no corkage. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. A true Montréal treasure!
Always satisfied when we eat there . Very good meal with good service
An intimate yet delicate dining experience. You feel home the moment you walk in. Its truly a family affair which we loved. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection and the appetizer was ever so flavorful. We hope to come again during our next visit to Montreal. Thank you for having us!
Evening 5 people May 20, 2023. Ive been to this restaurant several times and its one of the best value / quality for money in Montreal. Beautiful, well-prepared dishes, courteous service and the owner who comes to ask if everything is OK. The only downside is that the space is small and noisy when its full. We go there above all for the culinary experience and to have a good time. Evening for 5 people May 20, 2023. What can we say about this restaurant which is one of the best value for money in Montreal having gone there several times. Beautiful, well-cooked and prepared dishes, courteous service and the boss who comes to ask you if everything is okay. The only negative side is a small and noisy space when its full. Above all, we go there for the culinary experience and to have a good time.
Went a few weeks ago with my family, who came from out of town to visit, on Victoria Day. The food and the service were both fantastic and I really appreciated the waitresss patience as my parents are not native English/French speakers. They were very impressed by the food and the service, which is notable since theyre fairly cautious/picky eaters, but they loved it!
Apart from the breaded foie gras mousse which was good, everything else was average. One try is enough.
Food was amazing like always
Just perfect
Usually at restaurants there s always a really good dish that kind of compensates for other subpar dishes, but in this restaurant every single dish we ve had have been an utmost delicacy!! So rich in flavours. Definitely jumps to the top of my restaurant lists in Montreal. Will be going back often! Prices are SUPER reasonable too. Special shout out to the foie gras crème brûlée that is no longer in the menu.
It is a little warm place and the staff are friendly to help me order food with explanations. I need to make reservations before arriving but it is worth it.
Very good value for money. The big problem is the atmosphere and the fact that we were rushed to eat. 5 services in 1 hour 15 minutes. We had barely put the fork down, he lifted the plate and brought another one. We didnt have time to relax. We were a group of 7. Very small for a restaurant.
Excellent restaurant for a more than fair price. My only regret is having waited 4 years to decide to go! Thanks again!
This was one of my favorite restaurants but since covid it hasnt been the same. The food is still great and the prices are very reasonable but the decor has dramatically changed. They went from nice linen table covers and place settings to cheap paper ones, and the service is still good but nowhere near as great as it used to be. That being said I still recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal I just wouldnt go there for a nice date night.
So glad we found this place!!! Food was delicious and very reasonably priced! And yes they are BYOB which is amazing that you get to taste amazing French food without having to pay top dollars for the wine to pair with! We had a bit problem looking for parking around the area and to our surprise, the nice waitress/hostess, Lahonse (not sure how to spell her name) gave us a special permit to park right across the street from the restaurant. Menu was all in French. We were definitely not 100% sure what we were looking at. The owner was a lovely man and speaks mainly French. we had a bit difficulties communicating with him in English but were at least able to place our orders. We had the salad, lentil soup to start our meal, it was delicious. For appetizers, I had the foie gras and my hubby had the salmon tataki. And both were excellent. Salmon tataki was slightly salty however. Im usually not a foie gras person or crave it but figured I had to get it in a French place right? The foie gras was really really good and the amount they gave out was impressive! For entrees, my hubby had the seabass and i thought I ordered the osso buco but I got the lamb cheek stew instead..LOL..Im not complaining tho since the lamb cheek was really good! The lamb was cooked very tenderly and was in this very savory stew with different vegetables. My hubbys seabass was excellent. For dessert, W had the cream brûlée and the Paris Brest and OMG! They were ahhhh-mazing!!!! The cream brûlée was hands down THE creamiest cream brûlée Ive had!!! Sooooooo good I wanted to lick the plate after! And the Paris Brest was really really good as well!!! So flavor was so delicate and not overly sweet. I could eat this everyday if I could! The ambiance was very cute and cozy. And our waitress, Lahonse (not sure how to spell her name!) was just a lovely girl. The price was very reasonable as well for the quality and delicious food we had! We even had some left overs to take home! Overall this place was great and highly recommended!
The pegasus is a real pearl. One of the rare restaurants in Montreal where you can still eat so well for an affordable price.
French cuisine
Excellent meal, always impeccable. Only thing is that as it is so full inside, it quickly becomes cacophonous... Acoustic panels should be installed to improve the overall atmosphere THANKS!
Just fantastic.
Many French restaurants that are familiar to Chinese people have not many seats, but the seats are very close together, and the interior decoration gives people a warm feeling. The menu is only in French, but the waiter is still very enthusiastic to help explain and order. Each table has a pre-dinner portion of bread and soup. -Appetizer: Canadian salmon is always fresh and refreshing and never disappoints, and the salad dressing is also special. -Main dish: It was my first time to eat venison steak. It didn t have any fishy smell, but the meat was solid and the fiber was thick and hard, so I wasn t used to it. -Dessert: Caramel baked pudding, sweet but not greasy, perfect as the end of dinner.
The restaurant is in a lovely residential area of the plateau and very cozy table arrangements sitting nearly shoulder to shoulder with other diners. The food here was quite good in terms of thought and presentation, especially the first plates and main meats. Fois gras was served with toasted brioche and delicious fruit compote, while the beef and cheese profiteroles were quite creative and served with a lovely beet purée. The short rib and deer were also well prepared and perfectly cooked, but unfortunately it seems the side vegetables and soups/salads were almost an afterthought. Vegetables were over cooked and soggy, with the tomato soup thin and bland and the salad unremarkable. It was surprising that the vegetables here missed the mark as there was clearly much care and attention given to the rest of the plates. The service had several unfortunate misses as well. The restaurant had run out of escargot after we already placed our order. We had ordered the trou Normande, but it never came and I had to catch it on the bill. We also had to remind them to bring us our dessert wine that they had offered to chill, and bread refills never came. In summary a nice restaurant but surprising gaps in service and dishes that marred the experience.
Food was amazing, specially the duck.
Great BYOW restaurant in the plateau area. Price very reasonable and the food is decent. The places are limited, make reservation before coming. The menu is simple, but also have enough choices for different taste.
Great value French food
The quality/price ratio in terms of food is truly incredible. The service is good, youre in a bit of a rush to eat if you book for the first service, so its better to go a little later. Decent atmosphere, its mainly for the food and the BYOB that we go there every time!
I enjoyed the food at this restaurant initially, but the second time I went, I ended up vomiting three hours after dinner. The person I was with experienced an upset stomach. Its unfortunate because I liked the food, but its irrelevant if I cant trust that the food is handled in a sanitary manner. Therefore, I wont be returning.
Absolutely amazing food at reasonable price. Love their chicken liver spread for bread, rack of lamb, and their goat cheese beef puff is surprisingly good.
Delicious food, incredibly kind staff
A restaurant where the staff members visibly enjoy working and providing pleasure to their customers. Relatively limited but varied menu and absolutely reasonable prices considering that four courses are included. Great discovery; we will definitely return!
It is an excellent table, not only in terms of quality/price, but above all in terms of quality. It s tasty, the portions are just right, really well served. My wish is to discover your entire Chef menu!
Absolutely love this place
Cozy place and the best food! Thanks a lot for surprising us with your flavors every time! Went there 2 weeks ago AND SHORT RIB WAS INSANELY GOOD!
Beef short ribs with sweet taste sauce perfect match reduce the ribsgreasy. Lamb chop just everything perfect love it Deer is a bit hard to chew but overall love all dishes. Puff pastries with braised beef also become my favorite :) definitely will visit second time! Expect new menu and would love to try new dishes soon!!!
Absolute gem in Montreal. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Amazing food and atmosphere, very friendly service! Highly recommended! Dont forget to bring your own wine! Food : 5/5
Best BYOB around,.
Great first experience, everything was excellent. From soup to dessert You must like rare cooking to appreciate the main dishes. We will come back!
Nice place, good food, busy.
Very pleasant birthday meal. All nine guests we were very satisfied with their meals. No complaints about anything. Will definitely return.
The number 1 BYOB restaurant in Montreal The chef welcomes you with a high-quality French menu in an intimate and cozy atmosphere. The table dhôte menu at low prices, quality cuisine. I recommend the Pegasus without hesitation
We had made a reservation to celebrate our big day, and the restaurant, while not large, exuded a cozy ambiance. The service was incredibly warm and inviting. With a French-only menu, the staff kindly provided English explanations of the seasonal offerings. The pre-dinner bread served with goat liver mousse was an absolute revelation! It was so delicious that we couldnt resist buying some to take home. I highly recommend starting with the foie gras, paired with nutty bread it was nothing short of perfection! The bison steak was a flawless medium-rare, growing more flavorful with each bite, truly astounding! The short rib slow-cooked to perfection, fell off the bone effortlessly, and it was incredibly flavorful. Each course of the four-course French meal was a delightful surprise. Made our day Its not only an authentic French dining experience but also offers great value for money. The restaurant is very popular, so be sure to make a reservation well in advance!
For a couple s meal on a Saturday at 5 p.m. Warm welcome. Small but decent table. Hearty and above all very delicious meal (bread and pâté, soup, starter, trou normand, meal, dessert, coffee) for a bill of $130 before taxes and tip. We took our time. Departure around 7:30 p.m. was perfect. Steak cooked beautifully and duck delicious. Originality of presentation on the plate. I would go back tomorrow without hesitation! Congratulations to the owner and employees for an impeccable experience at a reasonable price for a restaurant in 2023.
By far one of my best restaurants!
We have been there twice, and both times I have enjoyed it at its maximum. I ve been with friends and we all ordered different things and I can confirm that everything I ve tried there is beyond comparison. The portions are perfect, all beautifully presented, well prepared staff, and the flavours are to die for. Also you can bring your own wine, so by the end of the night I was satisfied with amazing food, and elegantly drunk after drinking the whole bottle talking and admiring the dishes and enjoying the company. I loved it. Big shout out to the chefs, cook and the staff in general. You made our life better, for sure. I will come back soon.. with another bottle of course.
Delicious food, sophisticated recipes. they expect you to bring your own bottle of wine!
Been back many times and had a consistently good time! Generous portions, unpretentious but high quality. Can feel a bit crammed and lively due to the size of the space. Easy easy recommendation, both for locals and people from out of town. Ive been back several times and always had a great time! Generous portions, unpretentious but of high quality. Super good French restaurant, welcoming and inexpensive!
Very good delicious food and very good customer service
Very cute little BYOB spot nestled in this residential neighborhood is a high quality french restaurant. Bring a nice bottle of wine because the quality of the ingredients were the bomb. It starts off with a soup or salad Followed by an entrée You can opt for a palette cleanser where they made this apple/pear puré with a local brandy Then we had an amazing boeuf bavette and short rib - the portion was huge The sides on the dish were delicious The desert was amazing and super clever as well .... All this for like.... $50-60/pp! Like wow.
Great restaurant
Reservations recommended and be aware that the space is fairly small but cozy. Food was amazing and staff were friendly and helpful when our group didnt speak French.
Excellent couples birthday evening at the Pégase restaurant. Problement the best bring your own wine from Montreal. The concept is simple: you pay between $50 and $60 per person and the starter and dessert are included. Exceptional service and attentive to my allergies. My doe and my girlfriends bison were cooked to perfection. In short, I will definitely go back!
Very good restaurant located a block away from the busy area of Montreal. The food is really good when you consider the cost and the ambience is very cozy. The staff is also super nice and treated me very respectfully with a smile. You can bring your own wine and they dont charge corking fees which was a big plus. The only hassle was for parking but you can find it in the main street and it is free on the weekends starting 6pm. Expect to pay around $70-$80 after taxes and tips. This was a very nice experience and I will be back again during my next trip to Montreal.
Cant say enough good things. Ive been here several times and the meal, service and atmosphere are always excellent. And last night they made a delicious vegetarian meal for my husband, who usually has a hard time finding interesting veggie options in Montreal. Vegetarian options: They dont have much on the menu for vegetarians, but they will prepare a delicious veggie meal if you ask.
Good food, very reasonably priced, I would even say it s on the cheaper side considering how big their portions are. Good service too
It was really excellent, not only was the service very pleasant but the food was very good and of high quality. I would also add the kindness and kindness of the team. For our first time, we wanted to make a little joke, will we get a present and we received a beautiful little pen. In addition, we also took our desserts to go, including a chocolate cake. To our great surprise, the instructions for mastering cooking were found on the container! Everything was perfect and very pleasant :) I recommend!
Best French restaurant I have ever visited in Montreal so far
cute place, we were one of the last sittings so food was served late, a bit cold and not at the same time for our group of 6. Good food though.
This place is keeping the quality. Amazing food with cozy atmosphere. Just go and enjoy.
It was our first time here, and we were impressed. First of all, Ill start with the downside. Because the venue is small, sounds travels really well, so it was very, very loud at times. This was the only downside. The food was fantastic, we started with the beat soup. For appetizers, we had the foie gras, which surprised us by the big portion, and the beef profiteroles were super supple and decadent. For mains, we had the bison bavet, which was cooked to a nice medium rare, and the fall off the bone beef short rib. Desert was the tarte tatin, and creme brulé. Overall, everything was great, amazing food, good service, and the price surprised us most of all, they charge pre-covid prices. We will for sure be back.
Very nice experience for a friends birthday! Highly recommend & its worth the price, we were full. I would definitely go back with other people
Nice tiny restaurant with great food and wonderful service. The portion of the food is great and flavor was amazing. It also helps that it s Boyb so we could pair a wine of our liking the waiter was very nice and patient explaining the French menu so we could figure out what we want. We had a good time here
I went there with high expectations... but there was a wait even if I made a reservation, the tables were too close together and it was noisy. The taste is good and the food tastes so so..
Very small, well-hidden place. Quite friendly atmosphere, the service is impeccable and the food, a real culinary experience. We will definitely go back.
The service was really good and the food was amazing!!!! Enjoyed a great birthday dinner here and definitely will come back again when we visit Montreal
Had a great birthday dinner here! Great price for the food & service! It s a BYOB so don t forget the wine! Luckily if you do, there s a liquor store not even 10-20m away to get a bottle Food
We went to Le Pégase for dinner on a Saturday evening. I can say that it is simply an exceptional experience! The atmosphere is really great with tables close together reminiscent of our trip to Paris, very good music and we are warm there even in winter :). The service was impeccable because the people are very courteous, attentive, the time between the different dishes was perfect, and the menu is very well explained. We ate really well from start to finish. The dishes were very good and well cooked. We were shocked to learn that our bill was only around $120 for two people including soup/salad, starters, meal and dessert. In short, I highly recommend the place to anyone.
Excellent quality, everything was delicious, beautiful presentation
