Montreal’s favourite downtown Parisian brasserie since 2007, serving French comfort food, seafood platters, homemade desserts, discovery wines, and daily creations in a stylish and welcoming setting.
An absolute gem. Great service complimented by a delicious brunch. Cheesecake french toast had just the right amount of sweetness. The staff are all incredible. High level service and quality meal without pretense. Will return to try the table d’hote.
This restaurant was an absolute treat! I took my very good friend to celebrate her Birthday while visiting. We had a three course meal starting with appetizers, then entrée and desert. Ambience and service was lovely and the food did not disappoint. Absolument succulent!
The duck confict is very good and the onion soup was excellent. The meat of the hanger steak beef isn't soft, but the sauce is great. The dessert was delicious.
Really happening place on a Thursday night. The interior is fun and has a very vibrant vibe. The live singer was fantastic, he sang lots of nostalgic classic oldies. Food was amazing!
Remarkable food and wonderful staff! We started out just wanting oysters and a drink. But everything was so nice that we decided to stay for dinner. So glad we did. The Alberta lamb sirloin blew my mind! Amazing! My dinner companion felt the same about the duck. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for and then some. Perfect for a special occasion.
i had a wonderful dinner at le pois penche. was greeted warmly when i came in, the service was great and i loved chatting with the oyster specialist at the bar. the food was great high quality classic french, i had the delicious french onion soup and a buttery duck confit. you can tell the chef cares about what goes out! the crème brûlée was amazing, you can taste the high quality vanilla- it’s fun to get the flambé with it as well. the ambiance is great, love the soft lighting and red velvet chairs!
We came here for our 10-year wedding anniversary and really wanted to like it but unfortunately the inconsistencies across the board left us with a disappointing overall experience. Food - entrées reasonably good (octopus 8/10, beef tartare 7/10), mains excellent (hanger steak and confit duck both 10/10), side of potatoes au gratin bland (5/10), desserts really inconsistent (crème brûlée was good nothing amazing 6/10 but the fondant was basically a muffin 0/10 as you can’t call that fondant). Service - inattentive and rushed. Perhaps the servers are overworked as they did seem to be trying very hard but (1) poured us tap water into our half full glasses when we had been drinking sparkling (they did comp us a new bottle), (2) failed to ask us if we wanted any drinks after we finished our first ones, (3) did not check on food except after we had finished eating which meant we had basically finished mains before being able to bring to our waiter’s attention that he’d forgotten our side order and (4) had to send back the fondant/muffin instead of asking for a correctly cooked one as we had finished eating and had been waiting for a while by then (in fairness they did not charge us for this dish) Would not recommend for any important celebrations given the current level of inconsistency which is a pity as the mains were really fantastic!
Amazing service, food and atmosphere. Probably one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal. The escargot was delicious. (First time trying it). Oysters were fresh with a large selection. Steak was delicious & perfectly cooked. Will definitely be returning. The fresh bread they serve is absolutely delicious. 10/10.
Not pleasant staff, Parisian style.
It tastes bad. Don t go there. The service is mediocre. The decoration is like a luxury restaurant in a second-tier city. Xiaohongshu is a lie.
I came here expecting a top-notch French dining experience, but what I got felt like France s distant, flavorless cousin. The French onion soup tasted like someone whisked onion into lukewarm water zero depth, zero flavor. The pasta and seafood dish? More like a breakup letter from seasoning. And the service completely lacked focus on the customer. For the price, I expected something French, not the culinary equivalent of reheated leftovers at a low-end pub. The only two good things were the oyster chef, who was very warm and nice, and the dinner baguette. Do better or at least throw some salt in next time.
Great restaurant, with fantastic staff!! Will definitely come back!
Service was amazing. Food was OK. Maybe I shouldnt have ordered steak from a French restaurant.
What a great discovery this restaurant is! We visited Le Pois Penché as a team for lunch, and everyone loved it. There was a special menu in honor of the Basque Country, and the dishes were both appetizing, original, and above all delicious. The whole group was won over, and we are already planning to come back. Personally, I cant wait to go back for dinner, because if the dinner was this tasty, Im curious to discover more of this establishment. The interior is beautiful, with special attention paid to guest comfort. The seats are very comfortable and the atmosphere warm. The service was generally excellent, but I was a little disappointed that a server tried to clear my plate when I hadnt finished yet. Although my colleagues had finished their meal, I was still taking my time and, with my fork in hand, he took my plate without realizing it. It was just a slight hiccup in an otherwise impeccable experience.
Good location, downtown but not overly busy area. Expensive, but worth a try and worth returning to. From the appies to the dessert, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
An enchanting place in the city center. A cozy and refined atmosphere, with a very enjoyable menu.
The decor of the restaurant, the quality of the food and the service were on point! Thanks to Clement for his excellent service which allowed us to have a very good evening.
Very good restaurant and service, I recommend it.
I was at the restaurant for Sunday brunch, the food was delicious, great ambiance and excellent service from Mina and Adriana! Will definitely return and recommend to my friends.
Great Service! Wide selection of dishes including seafood, and vegetarian options!
Our server was so kind to us. We were there celebrating my wifes university graduation and the experience was so nice. Food was incredible. Price points were in line with the incredible quality of ingredients and cuisine, but not overly expensive compared to what you might find downtown.
The kitchen is good but not great.
Excellent food and service. I d definitely recommend.
Very good food. We had the bouillabaisse and the saumon. Exceptional service from our server Mathieu. Well done guys
Excellent service, great food.
Chef kiss! Breakfast, vibe and service were serving! I will definitely go back!
We had the best meal and the best service out of any place we visited in Montreal hands down. Our server Clément was exceptional. We were lucky to get a table on very short notice, the reso was for 5 but in didnt matter in the least. I had the Duck Confit and my wife had the Lamb. Both were exquisite. I highly recommend Le Pois Penche next time you are in Montreal.
Review of Pois Panache, Montreal I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pois Panache in Montreal, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance set a warm and inviting tone, but the real stars of the evening were oyster Chef Julien and server Clément. Lets talk about the oysters. Oyster Chef Julien has truly elevated the oyster experience to new heights. The standout dish was the oysters topped with pomegranate, which were, without a doubt, some of the best I ve ever had in my life. The freshness of the oysters perfectly complemented the burst of sweetness from the pomegranate, creating a delightful harmony of flavors that danced on my palate. Each bite was a testament to Juliens skill and passion for his craft. As for the service, Clément was exceptional. His attentiveness and genuine enthusiasm made the evening even more enjoyable. He was knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations, ensuring we made the most of our dining experience. Clément s warm demeanor and professionalism added a personal touch that made us feel truly valued as guests. If you find yourself in Montreal, make sure to visit Pois Panache. With outstanding dishes crafted by Chef Julien and top-notch service from Clément, it s an experience you won t want to miss. I cant wait to return for another round of those incredible oysters! Thank you Julien! And thank you Clement!
This place has THE BEST cocktails they change their menu very often theres always something new to try and the staff is amazing they litteraly treat you like royalty
Food is good, but nothing to write home about. Service is very good, but they dont ask about any allergies. I got my food covered in cream (duck) and it did not say on the menu that it has cream. I had to wait while my other party was eating. Duck was great, tartar was lacking flavor and texture. Escargot were amazing. Bouillabase sauce was just ok, but the seafood was super fresh and made well.
One of the best meals I ve had in recent memory! Mina was 10/10 as well.
Everything was more than Excellent.
Delicious tartare, onglet and very good bouillabaisse. Our server was very good and attentive with his suggestions.. topped w a singer unexpectedly.. fun
A great discovery Restaurant with a nice atmosphere Fine French cuisine Tasty dishes Very pleasant service
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Le Pois Penche on Friday 11/1/24 based on a recommendation from my hotel Le Nouvel Hotel. The quality of the food, the hip atmosphere, and the service were all exemplary, so much so that I went back Saturday night as well. I was seated Friday at the Oyster bar and had the pleasure to meet Julien a talented Oyster Man and amazing ambassador for Le Pois Penche and for Montreal in general. Julien described the available oysters in culinary detail and presented an artistic and delicious plate of oysters along with suggestions on accoutrements to complement the various oyster flavors. Well be awaiting your oyster video Julien... My server Marwa was attentive, helpful, and pleasant. Based on my superb experience Friday, Marwa helped me book a reservation for a return Saturday with my daughter. On Saturday Julien thoughtfully introduced my daughter to raw oysters since she had never had them before and she loved them. After a delectable course of oysters, we dined on tomato and onion soup before moving on to a course of NY steak with mashed potatoes and mushrooms based on great suggestions from our premier server Marwa. She also suggested some fine wine to complement our meals. We both cant wait to return to this fine restaurant to experience the food, great atmosphere, fellow diners, and especially the superior service!!
Exemplary Cuisine and Old Fashioned Classy Service.
Love this place. Hotel recommended this for dinner as a low key French bistro. We did the fixed priced 3 course menu and everything was fantastic. And the price was very reasonable for such a high quality meal.
You could think it s a tourist trap. It s not and it s a great French bistro. Every dish is fantastic and the service is great.
An extraordinary experience, excellent food, exceptional service!
I recommend this place, we had a great evening!!!
The best service i ve ever gotten in montreal restaurant
The food and atmosphere are super great. They had a singer in the evening as well. Recommend book in advance as they are super busy.
Very nice staff, Melina was very helpful and I recommend for a good time!
We stumbled onto this lovely place for lunch after a visit to the art museum. It truly felt like a trip to a top restaurant in Paris! Delicious food possibly the best frites I ve ever had anywhere and a terrific and knowledgeable waiter. My husband s oysters and moules frites were memorable, and our wines were lovely.
The food and the service is awesome!!! The waitress, Mina is amazing!!!
Wow! Wow! Wow! So delicious food, fresh beers, and so creamy dessert! warm and welcoming servers! perfect interior design! We had a so great time!
Delicious and warm atmosphere.
We went for a family dinner eight of us and a 1 year old. We had a fantastic time in the restaurant and the experience was first class from entering to leaving. The service was friendly and attentive and our waiter was an engaging, knowledgeable guy as well as giving great recommendations for specials. All of try dishes the group ate were all very good. I had the escargot and a fillet steak. Both were exceptionally good. It was our second time there and it was as good as the first time. Really enjoyed it.
We were in Montreal for 3 days and ended up coming here twice, it was so great. Stopped in for a martini and Oysters with Julien + Clement one night and we had such a great experience we came back for brunch the next day. Great food, awesome oyster bar selection, and just a fun atmosphere with such friendly staff that we almost came back a third time.
The food was really fresh and tasty, but the portions are really small to be called a brunch! Also if you seat somewhere beside the center, be cautious about the longer time you have to wait for the waiters. Our journey there didn t start well as I had to kill a small bug when I sit on my table! Also hearing loud Arabic music wasn t fun at all!
I enjoyed myself. The oysters were excellent. And Juliens explanations on the different varieties and pairings really added value. In addition, the setting is very pleasant, very cozy and the whole team is adorable. From reception to service.
Amazing.
Hello my name is Samuel I am 7 years old almost 8 the people are nice and they also make excellent food! THANKS
We went there for a birthday and everything was perfect! Thank you for the excellent service!
Extremely limited vegetarian fare. Granted its a French restaurant, they arent known for veggie cuisine, but to charge that price for cauliflower soup( delicious), and then a baked cauliflower seems overly um, uninspired, like Im an afterthought. The service was great, but slow. The coffee came cold. I never got the 2nd drink I ordered and the first drink took 35 minutes to get. Vegetarian options: Not good
Amazing meal outside dining with a great server and delicious food!
the NY steak was so good and the oysters, salmon tartar, lobster and shrimp palatte is some of the best in montreal , so fresh and delicious
Nice place. Good atmosphere. The octopus appetizer was really good. Mussels were sandy and shelly. Could barely eat one. No one asked how they were would not return and would not recommend, unless you want to lose a tooth.
Excellent evening, very good food
Food consistently great, service impeccable. Always a pleasure. And their baguette is best in class..
Birthday dinner with friends we had an excellent evening Good service, the staff takes great care Excellent foods We will come back!
really amazing French food. Service is excellent. Just a little warm
Nices places good service
Top place for oysters! Julian is not only an expert shucker he is a true sommelier. Beside this, there are Unique menu items like walleye fish, wonderful wine selection, fresh soups, but the service and atmosphere are what really will bring you back. Our waiter engaged us and helped us discover some of the best gems on the menu. Highly recommended, our favorite restaurant in Montreal!
We were in town from the US and had a wonderful meal with phenomenal service. Love this place! Get the lamb as it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time.
was Friday evening at this restaurant to celebrate a Birthday For me my meal was mediocre, order an overcooked Halibut, the octopus, the Portuguese prepare it much better, my friends eat well but pay $70 no thanks staff nothing to complain about professionalism at all levels there are better and less $
Great experience all around. Service is great, accommodating staff and very welcoming. The food was delicious and hit the spot.
The taste is okay. However, the space between the tables is too narrow. It was also inconvenient to go to the bathroom. Unlike the fancy image restaurant on the first floor, the bathroom in the basement smells musty. Food : 4/5
Excellent service every visit
We purchased an all-inclusive certificate as part of a fundraiser for a charity. We were served impeccably with very personalized service. Special mention to the octopus, lamb steak and vanilla ice cream.
This was oneof my favorite places to go for seafood and French bistro atmosphere. But last time I went the food was not up to standards. The bouillabaise had tiny pieces of fish and not at all as good as usual. the service was extremely slow. Sorry to say I will not be going back.
Le Pois Penché offers an overall pleasant experience. The food was of good quality and tasty. We had the onion soup, a Nicoise salad and moules frites. The service was friendly and attentive, but we still had to wait a relatively long time for the food. The ambience was okay, but the louder music was annoying, especially since ABBA songs were played on a continuous loop, which made conversation difficult at times. However, if you enjoy music, you might even feel particularly at home here.
Delicious plats, friendly staff and nice place
Excellent classic french restaurant. My duck could have used a little less salt, but it was still delicious. A better choice than the old town places.
This was a lovely and very accommodating restaurant for the busy F1 weekend! The French onion soup & oysters were very good, and the staff was outstanding!
first night here in montreal with my friends for a trip this place was soo gooddd yes the prices are expensive but the quality of the steak and fish was great the waiters were so sweet and very welcoming and quick to detail we waited for a while but it was worth the wait! the bread was delish and so was the onion soup this was the first time i tried escargot and it actually tasted so bomb!! definitely great way to end the first day here~ merci beautiful :)
Surprised at how good the food was. Not your typical menu. You can sit outside, streetside or in the restaurant. Enjoyed the experience.
Mehdi et Emilie, MERCIIIII!!! Everything was literally perfect. The level of service and attention to detail is impressive. Bravo
Excellent restaurant. The food, the service. I liked everything
Rose gave us very warm service! I highly recommend
Ive known Pois Penché for a long time and its still delicious, I love their mushroom cavatelli and my family and loved ones love it too! Thank you very much for the good service I will return!
Surprising for a tourist area. Vibe of a French brasserie, we see all the action in the kitchens. Very attentive service. Competitive prices. We go there with friends.
Just absolutely incredible for food and service. My wife and I were thoroughly spoiled and every dish was a masterpiece. I want to give a special thank you to our server Andrew who was not only an absolute delight to meet but a wealth of knowledge about the food. Every dish he recommended was spectacular, I dont know that I have ever enjoyed better food and service anywhere else. Truly an amazing experience. Thank you Andrew and thank you Le Pois Penche.
Good french restaurant. Came during lunch, and shared steak frites and lobster roll. Great service. 4.5*
My husband and I just had dinner here. He had the NY steak and I had the Duck confit and they were both cooked to perfection and tasted great. Beyond the great meals, they have amazing hospitality and customer service. We will be back and will definitely recommend to any of our family and friends visiting Montreal.
Quality and refined cuisine. An extremely friendly and attentive server.
Rating this place a 5 star does not actually do justice to the amazing hospitality the team here delivers. For the second night running, my wife and I had dinner here and we were not disappointed. Right from the door, Olivier greeted us warmly as he could pick out our faces from the previous day. My wife ordered the Atlantic Salmon which was perfect. I had ordered the Classic beef but when it came, it was not what I had in mind. Clement took it upon himself to order something else for me - steak. He added a side of salad. All this at no extra cost. To say I left happier than I came in is an understatement. Thanks to Clement and all the team that keep making clients happy.
Food is excellent albeit a bit pricey but all in all a nice place to go on a date.
Very nice experience here. Everyone was friendly. Service was top notch. Food was excellent. Price is decent for food. Highly recommend.
How to rate when you put salt on creme brûlée instead of sugar?
Gorgeous French Bistro. Very charming and beautiful. Food was above par but not exceptional. Service was attentive and very bistro French which was nice.
Restaurant to change and returned to good food and atmosphere we had abandoned this place but when we returned we were surprised we will come back
Grilled squid and hummus starter with good Greek olive oil yum Impeccable service without pretensions and yet they could be!
Delicious food. Polite and attentive service.
First time visit at Le Pois Penche and certainly it won t be last. Love the atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant. We were seated close to the kitchen and you could feel the warmth and energy of the chefs hard at work. Our waiter was amazing and offered great suggestions! We mainly went there for the oysters and some appetizers. I ended get the New York steak which was cooked to perfection! The French bread was a nice starter and it was nice and warm ! Overall 5 stars all around! Bravo
I love this place so much , the food is absolutely delicious, I had their foie gras and duck confit and my friend had a steak , I literally wanted to kiss a chef who made my duck, so crispy yet meat is melting in your mouth. Speacial thank you to Marwa for her professionalism and excellent customer service, we enjoyed our conversation with her
Very wide choice of wines, varied menu and warm welcome :)
food is really good. But a bit slow.
Ambience was amazing. Food was tasty and fresh and good size portions. We enjoyed the Bouillablaisse, crab cakes and the lamb steak. Our host was very friendly and answered all our questions. However, we did have to wait about 20min after being seated to get water and bread basket. And it was very warm inside the restaurant even with the windows/doors open. Maybe ceiling fans could help (summer time). We will definitely return but book outdoor patio when weather is hot.
Very nice experience!! From the food to the service to the atmosphere, everything is excellent!! Special mention for the room manager Mehdi who is on the job, and keeps an eye on things!!
Amazing fare. The ceviche, cod cakes, duck confit and hanger steak were excellent a few loud American troglodytes on the patio not withstanding.
We were quickly seated at the bar despite not having a reservation. The dishes we got were all very good, with the duck confit being a highlight. Friendly and accommodating staff. I would definitely go back!
In one word, food is fine, service is catastrophic. Ive been there several times never been treated like this. My last time was accompanying a distinguish scientist from USA. We went there for a proper dinner, and without reservation, the checkin lady said theres only seats at the bar. I asked whether we can sit outside and the lady said no. We think its ridiculous to have dinner at bar so we immediately left, and the lady yelled as we stepping out oh actually there are table for two. We stayed but during the total three hours from 7 to 10, there are plenty of seats outside never been unoccupied. They seemd to have seats in the very beginning and didnt want us to sit there. Its insane and ridiculous. Anyway we stayed. The waiter is fine but only feel warm after we ordered several wines. In the beginning we didnt get bread and even water and any kind of services until we ordered our first drink and appetiser and l asked for bread and water. They are just so snobbish and perhaps racist and the owner of the restaurant need to consider a proper staff training. Id probably never go there again though food again is pretty good.
I went for brunch and ordered the plate of croque madame, the best thing to eat this day with its excellent sauce and the accompanying salad with grenadine seeds that was simply succulent. Courteous service with a smile with a friendly and competent waiter. Beautiful and charming restaurant with impeccable cleanliness down to the toilet. I cant wait to go back to try the evening dishes.
What a delicious spot to try out when you are in Montreal! All the ingredients tasted fresh and it can be seen in their cooking how much they honor fresh and quality products. The Prince Edward Island Black Magic oysters were heavenly!
We have had the pleasure of eating at Pois leaning a few times and it is a great pleasure each time! Not only is the food very good, but the exceptional and attentive service offered by Marwa also helps to make us come back often! The atmosphere (especially on Thursday evenings with the talented Matt Mardini) is another factor that makes Pois leaning one of our favorite restaurants in Montreal!
I went to lunch after my convocation. Staff was very nice congratulating me on my graduation, very fast and hospitable service with great food. I look forward to coming back
Pleasant business lunch at Le PoisPendant, a nice bistro located in the heart of the golden triangle, the place is really trendy and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Classic and simply incredible food. Beef tartare as well as salmon - real delights for the taste buds. The dishes were well presented and very fresh. I loved it! It was really of a high standard, I have no complaints about the quality of the food offered. The service was also impeccable. The staff was very courteous and attentive to our needs. We felt welcomed throughout our meal. In summary, Le Pois Penché bistro is a place that I recommend to anyone looking for a quality gastronomic experience. It s a must-see in the city s culinary landscape. I cant wait to go back!
Incredible food and service. Manager was awesome!!!
I knew it at the very beginning, it was very good then over time the quality dropped and the restaurant was no longer worth the trip. Today the kitchen is professional, the dishes are very good, appetizing, the cooking is successful, the service pleasant with a rather chic and relaxed atmosphere. In short, not bad at all, still with the Parisian brasserie decoration. Flawless starters, main courses and desserts with extra warm baguette bread to boot.
Very classy place to dine in. The service & selection was great. Staff is amazing. Good food , the halibut was tender & loved the profiteroles . Thank you!
Had a lovely brunch at le pois pence. I have to be honest and say Andrew is probably one of the best servers our family has ever had in North America, or ever! So refreshing and nice to have such an attentive sever, relaxing atmosphere and great food! Will definitely be back!
A chic and relaxed atmosphere, a superb restaurant which respects its promise as a Parisian brasserie where you eat and drink very well. The service is impeccable. This is the third time we ve been there and we plan to return!
Pierre was FANTASTIC, as well as helped by Olivier and Emilie. Recommend to anyone looking to host a private event.
Excellent French in the Golden Mile. Super duck confit. Very tasty moules et frites. Super service. Great atmosphere.
Always a good time during F1 weekend.
We only had drinks and shared some fries, place is nice and it seems the seafood is great
I held a private event in the room downstairs and it was fabulous! The room itself is very nice, cozy and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff was very attentive. Special shoutout to Pierre Oliver, Kevin and Frederik for making our guests have a unforgettable evening.
High quality Parisian brasserie. Smiling welcome, very professional. Impeccable service. Excellent meal, tender steak and shrimp pasta, tasty crab sauce. served in a reasonable time. Pavlova dessert with passion fruit, divine. A great French restaurant in Montreal Dietary restrictions: Just talk about it to prevent
Beautiful 5 star dining restaurant. All their choices of food are excellent. Upscale, so, I recommend you dress up before going there, and reservations are also advised.
Ive always loved this place and the food unless it was time to plan an event there. Although we booked the venue and discussed everything 6 months prior the event we still had unspoken fees added to the final tab. When asking about those unexpected fees the sales manager was rude, inflexible and condescending. He made us cancel an event we spent months planning and we had less than 7 days to find a new venue and reorganize everything. I do not recommend for private event.
We had a lovely meal with great service. The sommelier picked a delicious wine to pair with our seafood.
It is a place that you should definitely go to by making a reservation as it is crowded on the weekends. The food is delicious and cooked to perfection, the portions are large and satisfying. I liked the food service, the staff is very hardworking, friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is comfortable and peaceful even though the ceiling is low. Vegetarian options: I am not sure Dietary restrictions: optional Parking: There are many paid parking lots in the surrounding area. Kid-friendliness: It is not suitable as alcoholic beverages are served, but parents can be present. Wheelchair accessibility: Suitable
A great place to experience the French bistro. By stepping in, you feel the Parisien atmosphere the interior decoration, the elegant guests, the French accent and the kindest service staff. The food is amazing, the complementary sauces are making the extra notch and they have a good wine cellar
My experience at Le Pois Penché was nothing short of spectacular, thanks to the incredible service provided by Mehdi and his team. I had an amazing time hosting my engagement party there! Despite managing our large group of 27, Mehdi was the epitome of attentiveness and professionalism. He ensured every detail was perfect and made me feel completely at ease. I was very stressed and he made sure to check in and let me relax. His ability to keep everything running smoothly without missing a beat was truly impressive. I highly recommend Le Pois Penché! Food and service was top amazing, I would definitely host there again!
Such a beautiful restaurant, and the food was delicious. My fiancé and I had a wonderful time, and the wait staff and host were amazing and so attentive. This place is easily in my top 5 restaurant experiences. Will definitely be coming back!
Excellent night, amazing first time at Le Pois Penche. I asked our waiter his name, and of course, it slips my mind now (Francois maybe, oh he was so knowledgeable about the wines, was friendly enough to talk about his home in Monaco, and was wonderfully warm about all of our menu selections. We had a beautiful champagne with dinner, oysters, starters, and Brittany had the canard confit, and I had the Atlantic salmon with leeks for mains. Insanely good. Truly fine french cuisine (I have been to Paris, and this takes me there.) Would go back in a heartbeat. Make that, half a heartbeat. Merci beaucoup! Kid-friendliness: We saw a well behaved one year old sitting down to dinner with their parents. Not for the entire meal, but this child was welcomed by waitstaff and the parents seemed to be locals.
What an amazing dinner and service. The night started with a cheerful greeting by India. She went out of her way to get us the perfect table ( not an easy feat ). Then our server Guillaume gave us the best service by showing up on time every time for every course. We asked Guillaume to select our menu based on some criteria and he absolutely killed it. Every course and wine was perfectly paired. He did this on his own and in other places you have to pay double for this! My daughter called this place a 10 out of 10 and I could not agree more! Thank you India and Guillaume for proving why Montreal dinning is next level!
I have visited this restaurant on multiple trips to Montreal. The quality of the food service are always superb and the staff is extremely professional and helpful
The service was discreet professional, polite and efficient. The highlight of the meal was the bouillabaisse which perfectly cooked.
Fabien is just excellent! The service is top notch and there is never a shortage of anything on the table. His suggestions are excellent and he is very attentive!
Always a good meal and nice service. The French bread is a must try.
We come here regularly for dinner, today we tried the brunch and it was AWESOME!
Wow, what a beautiful meal. From food to services. If you have to invite customers or friends they will be well received
The warmest welcome, the kind and friendly team and the most delicious food. A special thank you to our hostess Marwa, Guillaume our server and Omar as evening host.

Comfort food and good service. Really liked the mussels and oysters, as well as the duck confit . A must try!
Seafood, snails, lamb steak, beef tartare, the bread is soft inside very good
This place is a must stoo on a culinary tour of Montreal. The staff the open kitchen and the food was amazing. Our server Guillaume was very helpful in choosing entres and wine. They have sourced out a farm that has certified Wagu cows limited to only 14 animals.a year. Although didnt have time to try will definitely partake next time. I have been to many Michelin Star establishments as you can see from my posts and this place is by far one of the top 5 restaurants I have been to. The flavor was outstanding in everything and you can feel the passion in the food that is prepared. The oysters were perfect. The grilled octopus is comparable to Octopus I have had in Rome. The Duck Confit was the best I have had. Well done! I will be back!
Great service combined with quality cuisine I love this place, great menu, great service, professional like few others! Beautiful decor, the only downside is the furniture: the bench needs to be refreshed
Gabriel, our waiter, and Omar the general manager were absolutely fantastic. Great decor, great service, great food. Would come back anytime.
Gorgeous place, yummy seafood, attentive staff, in a great location. Me and my partner went for lunch, we got the seafood platter and it was so yummy and a great value. Especially for the place. The salmon tar tar was yummy and fresh. Get it spicy, its not super hot but its soo flavorful. And the creme brulee is creamy and well balanced, not at all sweet and the caramelization on top is perfect. The wait staff were friendly and attentive, the espresso was great. Would absolutely recommend for a great lunch or dinner. (::
Everything from service to food was perfect. We were a table of 2 and got a quaint table near the door. The onion soup was delicious and so was the burrata with carrots. I asked the waiter if I could get the homemade cavatelli with an extra onglet de boeuf on top and he had a blast going to the kitchen and making the request for me. Very friendly staff and top dining experience. I havejt eaten at a restaurant this good in years.
Very good! Typical restaurant for the snobbish world who earn more than the rest of the world, but the staff is able to be down to earth. Classic type food for ±$60, nothing more. The $150+ dishes are another class and they impress. Alex
Pleasantly surprised I was on a business trip and stayed in downtown Montreal. Looking for dinner and stumbled upon this place. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. My server recommended caviar with oyster which was a great deal. It was insanely delicious! The mole frites was good too. I loved the ambiance, the service and the food. Definitely coming back when I m in the neighborhood next time.
I have just rediscovered this establishment through its lunch table dhôte. Cuisine with imagination, really well done and delicious, for good value for money. The snail queen bites from the entree were a delight: a dish that we would also like to find on the menu.
Very good place. Impeccable and personal service, well played and diligent. This restaurant is not for the small budget though, check the prices. A suggestion: while charging $15 for a beer, it would be good to offer an original local micro beer, we have excellent ones in Montreal (Brewskey, Messorem, Toltek). Excellent food and worth the price (its relative!). It should be noted that a very beautiful private reception room is available and welcoming for 50 people in the basement. In short, I recommend it for a chic evening before a concert or to mark a birthday, etc.
The portions have changed a lot in recent years, its still good!
I had an extremely unpleasant experience at this restaurant early this year in January. I went in with my mother and sister, have in mind that my mother was visiting and that we are BLACK. We were waiting for the food which came without the breads and different jelly like just a week or so before (when I was there with a group of WHITE friend). So I asked then the waiter to bring the breads and jelly and said that we have been waiting for them for a moment. He went away and then come back saying that the MANAGER will personally come to the table. At the time I felt flattered by the gesture, thinking perhaps he was coming in person since we waited a long time for them. He came giving us one of the WORST EXPERIENCE I been through at a restaurant in Montreal. He came with the breads with a very condescending attitude and with a displeased tone put them on the table without manner and said it s not free, you have to pay for it without living me the time to comeback to the shock of this interaction he added while looking at us but I will give it to you for free . Still this day I have trouble swallowing this scene with my mother at the table. After that the waiter came asking if everything was alright, I told him no and to take the breads and jelly away as we couldn t even looked at it. I clearly told him I didn t like the way it was giving to us , he went back with it and I nothing, still we left nobody came to the table except for the bill. To the Manager of this restaurant: WE DO NOT NEED CHARITY NOT WE WERE EXPECTING IT. WE DIDN T came in there looking for a free bread and you RUINED my MOTHER EXPERIENCE. Nonetheless to say I STRONGLY THINK WE WERE TREATED LIKE THAT BECAUSE OF HOW WE LOOKED. So if you are a group of BLACK PEOPLE steer away from this restaurant and as far as I am concerned you have seen the last of me or any member of my family.
The food was excellent!
One of the favorite fine dining places must try in downtown Montreal. The vibes are amazing, live music and singer ( ). Service is world class. Food was above expectations. Tried the grilled octopus appetizer, the duck and salman main meal were perfect. Cocktail is the best in town. Tried La cuillette, rosy with thyme a touch of heaven. Absolutely will come back evey time visit downtown Montreal
A fancy and pleasant restaurant with delicious food!! Some higher-end restaurants give quite small servings but this was not one of those restaurants! I was quite full at the end of the meal, and they gave us a nice bag to take home the rest of the food we didn t eat!
Had a fabulous time here! The service, food, and setting were all great. I especially liked the salmon tartare and the creme brûlée! There was even live music for entertainment. Would definitely go back!
Good little bistro in downtown Montreal! The cod fritters are super delicious; the hamburger is rich and tasty!!! It s the perfect place for a nice dinner with friends.
It was a Monday evening, we understand, but everything was excellent: dishes, service to recommend at any time! Dietary restrictions: allergies, super strict and no problem!
A great experience. Fantastic service.
Prepare yourself for a below standard of quality of food for the money, I had a NY steak with fries and mushrooms for $75 that you would get the same at Denis restaurant in my opinion, the bread was amazing! The service on the other hand, was brutal, severely short staff, we waited for an hour for our bill.
Food was excellent! Service was attentive. Oysters were fresh. I absolutely loved the cavatelli truffle. Delicious!
We randomly entered the place yesterday with my husband and sat at the bar. The food was great and the atmosphere too. The salmon tartare was AMAZING!!!!! The service from Clermont at the bar was THE BEST and one that we hadnt experienced in a very long time. Extremely friendly, social, helpful. Definitely we are coming back!!
Just wow, I loved Mehdis service, the food was amazing (best salmon tartare Ive eaten) definitely worth trying!!!
We flew from Toronto to Montreal to celebrate my birthday a few weeks ago. Stayed only 2 nights one of which had to include Le Pois Penché for dinner. It was amazing as always! Beautiful shrimp then we had the Steak Frites, the meat was so tender and tasty and the frites were heaven! Wonderful wine, beautiful atmosphere and superb service! Every trip back home I have to drop in its that special. Thx to LPP...Chantal
Our group of 5 had a wonderful dinner. Thanks
A little more choice on the menu and everything is tokidou!
Great experience, as usual.
Ambient music that doesnt go with the chic style of the restaurant. Fortunately, they agreed to change. The waiter has no experience with food and wine pairing. They have difficulty advising us We take a bottle of bubbles for $245, but its impossible to have the filet mignon with a pistachio crust, on the Valentines Day menu, because the whole table doesnt take it. There were 4 of us. But, if we were seated at two different tables it would have been possible... Steak, just acceptable. Tartare, good, but certainly not the best. We had wanted to go there for a long time. Its done. Will I go back? No. $430 plus tip. Too expensive!
Everything but everything is fresh and good.
High-end brasserie Downtown Montreal. A must-see with a refined atmosphere.
This is a pricey option for a brunch, the food was quite good but I would dare to say that the unique dishes are way tastier than the traditional ones. The viennoiseries are okay and the ambience is really calm. I would recommend it if you want to have a nice family brunch.
Very good restaurant, I recommend!! My taste buds were satisfied
Small portions and food was not hot enough. Vegetarian options: Only one option. Food : 2/5 |
Salmon tartare and salad were fresh and tasty. Service staff very pleasant. Meal took a little while to come, perhaps due to the time ( 1:00pm) of our reservation
Tried the pancakes with caramelized apple, an also the shaksuka. Pancakes are fluffy and the shaksuka was good, although more bread would be very appreciated. Nice ambience, perfect for groups. FYI, any no-show will be charged on your credit card.
