Cozy BYOW French bistro gem offering 3 services French cuisine. Lunch and dinner available
What a gem of a restaurant! Food was amazing - everyone in our party of 5 had an appetizer and a main and loved each. Dessert was equally good. Flavors are excellent; presentation was on point, and portions were generous. Cozy, nice noise levels. And the service was awesome! We will be back!
Really cute and intimate resto with a nice vibe. We really enjoyed our dinner here! The waitress was super kind and the food tasted great! We ordered the escargot, the venison and the lamb shank. I found the red wine sauce however a bit too salty for my liking. The pieces we got also looked much smaller than what we saw in the other reviews. I really appreciated that every element of the dish including the vegetables were well prepared and cooked. I can tell that the chefs take pride in their food. Overall great place for an intimate date night or a celebration.
Really cozy space, really nice waitress who was so friendly and patient with us. I got venison for the first time, portion felt really big. Escargots were very creamy and nice. Thankful to have had a wonderful dinner here, though bear in mind if you don’t get a main you’re required to get three appetizers!
Service was amazing, atmosphere was very cozy and the food….. THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC. We ordered fois gras as appetizers, the duck confit and bavette for main and crème brûlée for dessert. Everything was so rich and flavorful! Really amazing and authentic French cuisine. Will definitely go back to try other dishes.
Amazing local eatery with outstanding food and service. Walking in we knew we chose well. Appetizers and mains were so full of flavor! Try the lamb shank if it's available! The whole family had a wonderful evening. Looking forward to visiting again!
First, this is a BYO restaurant. There is a wine and liquor store about a block away on the way from our hotel. We ordered an eggplant appetizer and tomato basil soup as starters. Main dishes were venison, salmon, lamb shank and cassoulet. This may have been the best venison I ever had. The other dishes were also delicious and prepared with changes as requested. The chocolate dessert was also very good. Sorry about the out of focus venison but you can see it was medium rare. Lastly, it is a tiny place with only one server who was amazingly efficient and friendly.
Très bon restaurant français au plateau. Bring your own wine 🍷. Good quality of food with reasonable prices. I had seafood gratin as starter and cassoulet as the main dish, but it was too much food for me. Excellent service. We will go back again
Cute little French restaurant with a relaxing vibe. The entrees came with salad or soup, either was very good. Snail and mushroom were creamy and thick. Lamb shank was very tender, and the sauce was an excellent match. Most amazingly, you can bring your own wine because they don’t sell any.
A meal to remember!
Apart from the great difficulty in finding parking, we come from the Laurentians, everything was really excellent, quite refined meal, affordable prices really very friendly and pleasant staff I recommend this excellent place.
Lovely ambience. Lovely food. Probably one of the best. We will definitely be back. Only issue was getting parking. Parking: We parked at about 10 mins away
We had an excellent evening, impeccable service, and delicious menu!
Restaurant with a good reputation and for good reason. Excellent service and excellent deer with oyster mushroom sauce drowned out by my neighbors glass of wine that was inadvertently hung... Never mind, the restaurant remade my plate! And it was excellent! The soup was strong in pepper, but it was more warming than usual this evening. And the sorbet was very good. Bravo and a big thank you for the generosity! Too bad our neighbors with 3 bottles of wine at 3 were laughing louder than all the rest of the customers and that we left with our throats irritated from speaking loudly... I recommend this restaurant! Dietary restrictions: My questions about the composition of the dishes were answered well.
Great experience, very good food, courteous service.
the food was so good I thought that Gordon Ramsay cooked it! I will probably beg my parents to go again and the lady with black hair was really nice :) yall deserve all 5 stars
truly excellent, pleasant and charming!
Very friendly little place where you are very well received! Rather fast service, very smiling and good atmosphere! Food-wise its not bad, the foie gras as a starter was good but we were more on pâté and the accompaniments were a little sad. The cassoulet is hearty and very good! We had a great time and the prices are very reasonable Thank you
Always tasty! Excellent service and delicious food. I always come back!
Nous avons eu une très belle expérience au Ptit Plateau : bon service, bons plats bien préparés et excellent rapport qualité-prix. Dietary restrictions: They asked us if we had dietary restrictions and came up with solutions.
The quality/quantity/price ratio is pretty good! I wouldnt particularly recommend the foie gras, which is not bad but the accompaniments need to be reviewed (a cherry tomato cut in half and cucumbers? Very strange combination) However, we had the duck confit and the meat cassoulet and both were really delicious! No regrets about these choices. The service was great, we loved our servers. The atmosphere is great: unpretentious bistro, open kitchens add to the charm! Be careful, your clothes might smell a little when you leave A great experience despite everything for $120 excluding tax and tip
The dishes were well presented and excellent!
A little bit salty and longer than expected waiting time but overall tasty and worth the wait
We had an amazing meal at this fantastic restaurant. This was the perfect dining experience to have while visiting Montreal.
First pleasant experience
We had to leave because it was required everybody to order at least for 30$, even if you are not very hungry and just want to take a cup of coffee
Celebrated my daughters birthday. It was perfect
I liked the atmosphere. Very friendly place. Although the restaurant was busy, the noise was not a problem. Delicious meal, just a little too salty for my taste. It must be said that I never add salt...
Le Ptit Plateau is a short metro side from Old Montreal. We were warmly welcomed by our server. The menu is typically French. We shared the escargots and foie gras appetizers which were delicious. Likewise, our main courses were superb. Be sure to bring a good bottle of wine as there they do not serve alcohol. ( no corkage). Overall, highly rfecommended.
THERE was a birthday party with 25 guests at the restaurant the night we ate there. So noisy, but thats probably not the case usually. The decor of the restaurant in an ancient and mythical place is very pleasant.
Everything was perfect but its a noisy restaurant.
This was my second visit and unfortunately may be my last. The dishes are excellent, the service is impeccable, but having a romantic dinner there is impossible, we cant hear each other talk. Right behind us there were two groups, one of ten people and another of six people celebrating birthdays. It was singing at the top of its lungs repeatedly, it was whistling, it was screaming, in short, the experience was very unpleasant. Your restaurant is far too small to accommodate such large groups. Maybe you should create a new concept of a small restaurant for couples only.
The food choice various, food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Great value
After a week of terrible US food we crossed the border and came to Montreal. Craving traditional French food we found this lovely restaurant with all my faves (snails in creamy sauce and duck cassoulet). The ambience and friendly service really made our stay here, highly recommended.
Excellent cuisine that is a combination of tradition and innovation. Impeccable service The red deer is fabulous Slightly noisy atmosphere like a classic French bistro This restaurant has the advantage of having parking right next door.
Everything was excellent, we will return
Parking: Horrendous on Saturday evening Food
Excellent meal, little service however and excessively long before you can pay and leave. All in all, a good experience. Very very difficult parking
Great neighborhood spot for delicious food
Nina who was serving us was very nice, professional! Bravo Nina
What an incredible place. The atmosphere is excellent, the service impeccable and above all... The food is simply sublime. Starter, main course, dessert, coffee; everything is really excellent. My 4 meat cassoulet was perfect. I recommend it to anyone who wants to eat quality and quantity. The dishes are not small! I will come back for sure!
We have been to this restaurant a few times already; the dishes are excellent, of very good quality with always perfect service, and a pretty decor. However yesterday there was a table of 10 people which bothered us considerably. There were 4 of us and we could hardly hear each other because the noise generated by this group was so loud; people were talking (yelling) to each other from one end of the table to the other which itself took up a significant amount of space because this restaurant is small (I would say capacity for around thirty customers) and is not suitable for group evenings. Too bad because I love this place, generally always cozy . But hey yesterday was not the right day .
It was a wonderful experience, the service was friendly, the dishes were wonderful and lovingly decorated. We can only recommend a visit!
Chef Assane is amazing, my wife and I visit Le Ptit Plateau often and we always have a great experience!
A Quebec City gem. Exceptional food paired with the most delightful service. One Of A Kind, Not To Be Missed!
Have been going to Ptit Plateau for 15 years. It has been consistently fantastic all these years. Our meals were perfection, atmosphere was cozy and warm, and the service was friendly. This is a firm favourite.
We had a very pleasant time. The warm welcome in the room with its friendly decor, the quality of the dishes and the attentive service are the reasons why we will come back soon.
Fantastic GEM on the Plateau ! Food varies from visit to visit, but is always good and tasty ! Oct 2024 : went back, still great food and great service. They have a new waitress from France (forgot her name), she s awesome !
Sweet small French restaurant. If you are wanting something not French or low in cholesterol, good luck! Otherwise a really wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Vegetarian options: Vegan cassoulet
It got very noisy. Nothing to do with the staff but rather the customers. Not much to do with that. Parking: There is paid parking at the entrance to the restaurant. The entrance to the parking lot is north of Marie-Anne sur Drolet.
Very good service, the kitchen is well cared for. I ate the lamb shank it melted in my mouth. I recommend the chocolate hazelnut dessert....its decadent :))
Even though the food is good, twice we were badly placed, even though we had reservations!
We revisited this lovely restaurant which was an old favourite but that we hadn t visited since well before COVID. It still offers charming ambience, excellent service and delicious food!
Very nice little restaurant! The cuisine is divine and refined. The waitress Mélanie was adorable and served us very well throughout the evening with wise advice! The music gives a very pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend this little gem!
The food was so tasty and full of flavour! The portion sizes were fantastic if anything even too large! We were so full trying to finish everything. The interior and atmosphere was intimate and felt authentic. Would highly recommend visiting also BYO!!! Our server was super lovely and very attentive, she was great!
Outstanding place to eat service was great.Nice French music playing just a great place. Also pest of all BYOB.
Vegetarian options: They were delicious. Especially the eggplant and avocado appetizers Food
Simply an extraordinary culinary experience in a great platter atmosphere! Im going to come back to Ptit Plateau. Parking: Parking meter in St-Denis
The most amazing little French gem, run by an amazing crew of 3!!! The food was incredible, the service was delightful - and the atmosphere is a dream. This is a MUST for any trip to Montreal.
From cooking to serving One word: Superb!
Exceptional food and service in a warm, cozy environment. High quality French cuisine.
What flavors! We had a great time. It was delicious. I recommend!
This place was absolutely awesome. The food was fantastic service was great.Great, great music in the background. Best of all, BYOB.
Food and service was exquisite! Wonderful atmosphere!
Delicious food; excellent service; very charming place. Very impressive from beginning to end. I was so moved by the whole experience that I asked to see the Chef so that I could thank them for a very tasty and beautifully presented meal. Try the Magret de Canard with Foie Gras- I was blown away! Strongly recommend this place! I will definitely dine here again when I am back in Montreal.
Amazing food, exceptional service, a must visit in Montreal
Everything was great! Our waitress was amazing. Thank you so much !
Absolutely great food
We loved our dinner at this restaurant. The seafood gratin was succulent and we enjoyed the red deer plate. The portions are very generous, we even brought back some leftovers for the next day. The chef and waitress were very friendly and attentive.
I wasn t impressed with the foie gras appetizer. But our entrees (venison and duck confit) were tasty and good portion. It s a small shop, and the single waitress gets busy serving multiple tables. Overall, good food, reasonable pricing and nice service. Food
Really good French food, unique style in the restaurant.
Beautiful little intimate space with attentive service staff and incredible food. An amazing memory!
Superb discovery! Delicious food and impeccable, friendly service! Our waitress Nihed was great! We re definitely going to come back
Great, small, atmospheric bistrot du coin. We had excellent magret de canard and bavette. Bring your own wine. Excellent, friendly service. Recommended.
Great food and good service, but really very slow. Vegetarian options: Available and good
The restaurant offers generous portions, but in my opinion the quality of flavors does not quite match the asking price. The presentation of the dishes could be improved, especially with the accompaniments such as green beans, eggplant and mashed sweet potatoes, which seemed submerged in the sauce, the duck lacked flavor. In addition, the service is quite slow, even just asking for the bill, errors in orders, and invoices.
We really enjoyed our meal. The cassoulet we ate was tasty. The duck leg and breast were generous and perfectly seasoned. Our dessert, the floating island, was incredible too. Despite a fear due to the latest negative comments, we had a wonderful evening. The service was impeccable and we had the chance to talk a lot with our kind hostess! We will definitely return there, because we were charmed by this friendly restaurant and its atmosphere. A pleasant place to visit! Thank you for this beautiful evening!
What a great discovery and what a great evening! Our meals were excellent as were our starters and desserts! Impeccable and friendly service. It s really nice to see a team in the dining room and in the kitchen so on point! Well done!!!
First visit this week to this restaurant Excellent cuisine The cook made me taste a starter before I ordered it to be sure I would like it. Impeccable service The waitress is very attentive to each customer I highly recommend it
I loved this French restaurant. Bring your own bottle makes it enjoyable and affordable. Superb quality and menu. It is all about the food. Make a reservation, it is necessary. Parking on the street is not easy but Metro station is an easy walk away. The 15 hour braised lamb shank was incedible. 2 of us had dinner for CAN $97, including tips and taxes. We brought our own wine. I am returning here for sure. Dont miss it! France in Le Plateau, true Montreal.
Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, and exquisite cuisine. Highly recommended and is definitely my new favorite spot in the city!!
Really enjoyed this French experience. The BYOW was a nice touch so we could do our own custom pairings. Food was of fantastic quality, really enjoyed the duck. Elegant atmosphere, they put the space to wonderful use.
Average service, the waitress never asked us how we found our dishes and did not come back to refill our water. The soup was rather thick and seemed to be a mushroom broth with lots of cornstarch. The foie gras as a starter was very good. The seafood casserole lacked finesse. The shrimp tails were still under the gratin and the sauce was too oily. I went for this dish, the cassoulet was disappointing and served on a deconstructed plate (leg and beans aside). This one had corn kernels and green peas with the beans, which Ive never seen before. There were only two slices of sausage and very little bacon. Everything lacked salt. My wife had the duck breast and the waitress never asked for cooking. The sides were very ordinary and lacked finesse. For dessert, the crème brûlée was good, but the portion was small for the price. All in all, we wont be going back. The food and service left something to be desired. On another note, the decor was pretty and friendly.
Charming little restaurant on the Plateau. Beautiful decoration, very cozy. Delicious flank steak. The desserts are also excellent. Bring your own wine!
This is the cutest gem of a restaurant. Nestled at the corner of two residential streets, its a quaint BYO-wine that serves traditional French cuisine. The seating inside is limited so its probably rare to be able to get a spot without a reservation on weekends (the capacity for this place is probably just over 30 seats). Its very cozy and packed inside in an old school European family-owned kind of way. You have to squeeze yourself through and around tables to get anymore, which has is charm but could definitely be a turn off for others. The menu is simple and offers a selection of french classics (cassoulet, foie gras, carré dagneau, Duck magret, etc.) that are all very good and hearty. The fact that its a BYOW means that you walk away with a very reasonable bill considering the quality of the food and the experience of the place. Its also a great place for group reservations or for large parties because they allow you to reserve multiple tables, and the setup is such that it feels like youre all together even if youre at separate tables. This restaurant isnt a great choice for people with decided mobility since it was stairs leading up to the entrance, is very tight to navigate once your inside, and also the bathrooms are down a full flight of stairs in the basement. Wheelchair accessibility: This space isnt wheelchair accessible. It has a few small steps leading up to the entrance, is very tight and narrow inside, and also its bathrooms are down a full flight of stairs to the basement.
The duck didnt taste much... But the rest was delicious!
We ate well but it s very expensive for what it is and the Service really isn t great. We were not served wine, our dessert plates remained in front of us the whole time, in short I wont be coming back.
We ate very well. Lamb shank and flank steak. The service offered by Nihed and Thomas was impeccable. Always with a smile. They were both very attentive. We will be back shortly!
Really sad... I often ordered from this restaurant during COVID and the foie gras was very good. Cassoulet too. We went as a group and the service was mega slow. It took almost 20 minutes before we got to the menus. I never managed to get someone to bring me a fork to eat my starter. The foie gras was pretty good but served with super hard croutons. Cassoulet drowned in oil. The duck leg wasnt really confit...it almost gave the impression of chicken. My friend had to return himself to have the cooking of his venison adjusted in the kitchen. Non-existent service. Not worth the money.
Had a lovely dinner here on a Wednesday night. The decor and atmosphere were very cozy and intimate, and it was an overall excellent meal. The ile-flottante dessert was to die for!
This place has a nice ambiance with very decent classic French food. the escargot and the lamb shank I would highly recommend, it s a must try!
My partner and I had the pleasure of celebrating Valentines Day at this quaint restaurant, and it truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and intimacy, setting the stage for a memorable evening. Whether you celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to indulge in exquisite cuisine, it is the perfect destination for a romantic culinary journey.
Great experience. Good was great the service amazing and the atmosphere was very Paris like Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible
Mediocre food. Gelatinous soup, extremely fatty lamb shank, crème brûlée which looked more like an omelette + poor service. Very disappointing
I have visited this restaurant several times in the past. Before, it was good, but during my last visit this week it was catastrophic: what a waste of time and money! 1) Bad service (almost non-existent). You practically have to ask for salt, pepper, bread, water several times to be served, and then again. The waitress visited us 2 times: 1 to serve the salad/soup, and 2nd time to serve the main course! 2) Moreover, what is even more frustrating, not only has the table dhôte gone from 4 courses to 1 and a half courses, in addition to the increase in price, but the quality of the food is extremely poor: soup which is not really a soup, but a spread, yes yes a spread, it is not liquid, served in a micro bowl; and the salad but here, a mixed salad bought at Costco also in a micro bowl, not even pretty to look at! The main course: we asked for, among other things, a medium flank steak, it arrived burnt, hard like plastic...The plate wasnt even edible! The second dish is duck breast: it was cold and hard to chew. My jaw even hurt the next day. Conclusion: this restaurant has already been a good destination, but for some reason, maybe the chef has changed, I dont know! But it is no longer frequentable....the past positive evaluations are no longer up to date in my opinion...To be absolutely avoided!
Cute little French style restaurant! Very busy! Food was delicious...the carrot coconut soup was amazing...wish we got more! service was excellent! BYOW with no corkage fee!
Love this place
As I had enjoyed my experience several years ago, I was eager to return. Unfortunately, very very disappointing. There were five of us and four will not have good memories of this dinner. The soup was tasteless, the deer was cold, the vegetables tasteless, the lamb was tough, the service between the main courses and the starters was very long, in short not up to the memories I had and perhaps that we had a bad evening. However, let us emphasize the friendly atmosphere and service.
Always a great stop when in Montreal. This hidden gem has been around for years in a residential neighborhood. I have never had a menu item I have not liked. Definitely make a reservation as the dinning room is small with limited seating.
One of my favourite French cuisine in Montreal. The food is really delicious! The service is good but sometimes is a bit slow, but I say the food definitely worth waiting a bit!
we were there on New Years Eve, we were expecting a nice evening but the service was poor and lacked professionalism... Ill give you examples: 25 minutes before attracting the attention of the waiter despite the small restaurant. We have to open our own bottle of wine, we have to ask for glasses to be brought to us, once received 2 out of 4 are dirty or poorly cleaned. They bring us a bottle of water but once again no glass. We had to exchange our utensils because they were poorly washed... In short, the waiter kept apologizing... The food was very good (very good quality foie gras, delicious venison, good flank steak, 2 out of 4 ordered the cassoulet but a plate had no day of pork, he took the plate back to the kitchen to add one, once returned, there were 4 of us looking for it in the plate and still no pork cheek, the waiter didnt even ask us if everything was to our satisfaction. Once after midnight (January 1, 2023) the chef comes to see us and wishes everyone a happy new year and offers us tea or coffee, I think. a generous bill we should have offered a little more... in short, I probably wont go back, sorry
Not the first time at this restaurant.. always excellent food and service but this time... service by novice... order error... average food.. cooking error for all.. sorry... but unfortunately no longer recommended
Good quality, very pleasant setting and atmosphere. But high price and relatively cold service.
They don t respect your time when you reserve a table, wasted my Saturday night waiting for a table. Very disappointing.
Avoid this place and its rude staff at any cost. This was my worst experience with a restaurant in Montreal without a competition. We reserved a table for two. It required credit card info because there was a 30$ penalty for not showing up. We got there on time, staff were serving others and not paying attention to us. after 10 minutes of waiting finally the chef came to us and said the last group was 1.5 hours late so we dont have a table!!! So we had to be penalized for someone else being late. He said wait for maximum 10 minutes and I give you a table. We waited for 30 minutes and no one even bothered to talk to us or give an update.
Very small plates, basic, expensive for what it is. Waitress was kind, but definitely not a place where we would have dinner again. 42$ for a tiny piece of steak and so expensive. I get that restaurants are trying to make money, and products cost more but we shouldn t be leaving hungry. Disappointing.
I would leave zero stars if I could. The main plate tasted okay but their food portions is a real joke especially for the price we paid and to make it even worse the waiter had told us that they have big portions when we were ordering lol . .oh and the soup had no taste at all (was suppose to be creamy but tasted watery). Very disappointed overall and would not come back unless they adjust their food portions!
The food was amazing. Highly recommended. A must try.
We went on Saturday July 23rd, I reserved for 8 people beforehand and I gave a credit card number for deposit in case of no show. We did go and regardless of the reservation, they were out of 3 main courses (in a 8-item menu) and they did cross our name in the list but $250 was charged to my credit card nevertheless and When I called they did apologize and it was refunded 3 days late. I still like menu and overall atmosphere. The service management could be improved, but still on my to go list for french cuisine.
We were regulars, it was one of our favorite restaurants in Montreal, but its not what it used to be. The restaurant has changed ownership and the experience is no longer up to par, it was disappointing. The soup was bland and the lamb shank was OK but nothing more (whereas before it was exceptional). I wouldnt recommend, there are much better French restaurants for this price in Montreal.
If youre hungry, move on. $75: - starter green salad, three slices of citrus fruit, three blueberries er slices of a slice of duck breast! - shredded dried ducks with potatoes and beets sea buckthorn sauce but what should I say? it was bland it didn t taste good! - a fondant that comes out of the freezer Such slow service! After an hour we finally received our starter and it took another hour for our main course! Endless Finally no one to warn us about the unique menu for 75 dollars?
2 hours between entry and meal. Good atmosphere. Delicious food.
Disappointing Valentines Day dinner. At $75 per person, we expected better. First, the waitresses barely knew their menu. The salad was described to us without mentioning the central ingredient of the dish, duck breast. The service was okay, but weird? The waitress ate bread by cutting it and served the dishes with her mouth full? There were about ten customers in the restaurant and she walked around with our dishes offering it to the other tables before we stopped her to tell her that it was ours. Little atmosphere in the restaurant (no music). In short, the food was OK but below our expectations for the price and the event.
The place lives up to its name, a Valentines Day menu for $75 ($200 for two with tip and taxes) for ridiculous portions. The taste is not there, the service is not there, the atmosphere is not there. It s a perfect place to recommend to anyone you hate. From theft.
Good atmosphere and nice menu, but service and the food itself left much to be desired. Steak was over cooked even after I asked for rare soup was lukewarm and foie gras portions were tiny. Overall ok but not a fine dining experience even if that s what you pay for.
Phew... Usually I start with the food but this is the place.. The place is YARK room and toilet. For the food, the meat asked for rare...and received overcooked The confis... tasted like plastic... 120 $$$ with push never again..
I took the vegan cassoulet, and ultimately I only had half of the foods listed on the menu (there was no vege protein, mushroom ratatoille, there was just flagellate, asparagus, a brussels sprout and a carrot), and the dish was tasteless. Its very expensive $36 to have half a tasteless dish (and there was no salt or pepper on the table to help enhance the taste). I am very disappointed. I would have requested a refund. Otherwise the decoration is beautiful, the service is good.
Grumpy owner,
I booked the restaurant for a private proposal and the staff was very friendly, flexible, and accommodating - helping to design a menu that my partner would love, and decorating the restaurant beautifully for the event. The food and atmosphere was excellent and it ended up being a perfect evening! The price was also very reasonable, and is certainly worth inquiring if you are in need of booking for private events - strongly recommend!
It was just perfect and the atmosphere was very family !!
What a disappointment! I went to Ptit Plateau in 2016 for the first time. It was delicious. I have returned there several times with equal pleasure. Since the pandemic, the level has dropped, but tonight it was too disappointing. The accompaniments tasted reheated. The sauce was lukewarm jello on the meat. The foie gras that was so generous before is now just a little cold slice on the meat. The gratin clearly tasted like it had been in the fridge, so best made the day before. The meat is cooked to order, but everything else is cafeteria level. For my part, I wont go anymore.
We returned to this restaurant this evening as we had great memories there in 2017 and 2018. Unfortunately there was a change of ownership and it is no longer worth it, we were very disappointed. We had snails with cream and foie gras in a towel as a starter. The snails were in a very heavy type of béchamel, and the foie gras had no taste apart from the taste of fat, it was not fine at all. As a main course I had the venison, and my meat arrived cold on the plate, what a shame when you order this type of cut and pay more than $50 per dish. My wife had the salmon tartare, it was very poorly cut which meant that the texture was not pleasant at all, no pleasure to eat. Despite our feedback to the waitress (the service was good, nothing to say), she went to the kitchen to mention it and finally came back to apologize. No gesture was made, not even offering to offer a coffee, it costs nothing and it would have been appreciated. We wont go back there again, a shame because it was an excellent address in the past! Parking: Street
Nice little restaurant in the Plateau, but.... Soup, salad and starter tartare really very bland. The flank steak was good though.
An excellent meal, fine and elaborate cuisine, delicious vegetables combined with meats. Real sauces prepared with meat juice. Don t leave without dessert, you ll fall in love with the floating island. Good atmosphere, the service team is very pleasant and efficient.
Amazing small French ambiance. Excellent dessert
Incredible food! Small space and therefore noisy to know! But the food is worth the trip
Great food and allows you to bring your own wine to go with your meal!
Terrible! Only way to describe it
The day the music died. My partner and I used to love coming here. We hadn t been for a number of years, until this evening and wound up leaving in complete dismay. 1) on arriving, we were left waiting for 20 minutes until my husband asked for a wine opener for our bottle of white. We had to ask for ice. They barely had any ice to put in the wine bucket (1/2 inch of ice sat at the bottom and our bottle on top). Warm white wine. The portions were meager. The tartar had far too many capers in it. The crostinis were thick. The duck magret was extremely tough to chew, let alone try and cut through. The waitress served me my husband s order and him mine. His lamb shank was delicious. They were out of the seafood soup so he ordered the seafood gratin which contained: one clam, one shrimp, 2/3 pollock sticks and the rest consisted of an extremely salty cream. I don t know what happened, but we will not be returning.
Excellent restaurant!
Glorious. BYOB
Excellent food. The lamb was amazing!
I had spotted this place ahead of our trip and was excited to try this place. While the food was good.... not amazing, the place is really small, and they cram as many customers in as they can. (My elbow was right next to the doorknob in and out of the restaurant). Unfortunately this, along with the fact it is July and their AC is either broken or not able to cool the room, the entire restaurant was a sweat box. It made it almost impossible to enjoy our meal, (which wasnt cheap). We asked the waitress to open a window, and i couldnt understand what she said, but im assuming it was they cant, which i understand because of bugs. They really need to slim down the amount of people. Not the best meal i had in montreal. Really disappointed
Three of their main specialties were not available. We were a party of six and most disappointed. Beware. It I s not what it use to be. Will never go there again
Impeccable service and delicious food
We celebrated my husbands 40th birthday at Ptit plateau. We were a group of 30. We were received like kings (and queens). Everything was very good and the service warm and generous. Thanks for everything :)
Here used to be my favourite place, but the food was not the same as before anymore, lamb shank have no taste, duck breast is hard to chew even hard to cut with the knife, escargots kinda burn and two thin slide of foie gras for 22$, we paid 156$ total and nothing taste good such a waste of money, they change people in the kitchen 2 young guys didnt seem like know how to cook the food, too bad and too sad, I will never come back.
The food was excellent, but the service was really terrible. The waitress was doing her best, but she was all alone! She handled every table, plus hostessing and bussing. It was ridiculous. We arrived on time for a 7:00 reservation and didn t receive a single bite of food until 8:30. No bread, barely any water. Very disappointed. Dinner took over 3 hours, and we didn t have dessert. They were also out of 3 things on a pretty small menu, and portions were uneven. Some were enormous, others miniscule. And it s a very loud and cramped space. Quite disappointing and unpleasant. Would not recommend.
A salad as a starter arrived with really expired pieces, pitiful excuses and the waitress brought me back the same salad telling me that it was okay! An asparagus soup that tastes nothing, a smoked salmon starter that says oil, capers and onions, but which has none of that on the plate. The waitress offers to bring me everything separately, she brings me a small dish with capers, shallots and oil! As usual over the years, I order a confit duck leg, it arrives with a white sauce on top, which completely removes the crispiness of the skin, the taste of the duck and the leg is half confit . What a disappointment! The quality of the food, compared to past years, is mediocre, as is the service (the waitress is young and unfortunately does not seem to have had any training). I will never set foot there again.
A must visit every Montreal trip. BYOB. Order whatever you want to eat. It will be delicious. Vegetarian options: Two veg menu items Kid-friendliness: Welcoming. Already loud.
Its not worth the hype. The duck confit was hard to chew or even to cut. The lamb shank was delicious. $22 for two small pieces of foie gras. Service was very friendly but slow, they need to hire more staff.
Small ..crammed 5 people on a 4 top Service took a long time Food
Excellent!!!
It was delicious. We really enjoyed the whole experience. Would recommend to try at least once
The service is a bit long... There are no dishes for children....
VERY noisy restaurant, difficult to get along with immediate neighbors and to hear the waitress. The dishes are good, but not exceptional. I had the poached salmon with shrimp, which was supposed to be served with mushrooms. There was only one shrimp, and not the tail of a mushroom! Too expensive for what it is P.S: the water doesnt taste good Vegetarian options: Only one option: vegetarian cassoulet
The breast stuffed with foie gras and duck confit was like nothing. It was cold and impossible to cut. The waitress looked completely overwhelmed. Thank goodness I brought a good bottle which made the experience less painful especially in the company of good friends. Next time well go somewhere else.
A quaint restaurant with excellent french food and outstanding service. The place was full, and there was only one person on service, but she was just amazing. All smiles and charming, and yet good and fast service. She made for a very pleasant evening. The food was excellent. I had the seafood gratiné to open which was good, but the poached salmon and shrimp was the star for me. So the place has a quaint atmosphere; attractive, charming and competent service; and good food. What are you waiting for? Oh, and bring your own wine!
This place has major Paris vibes. The excellent food leans into foie gras. The cassoulet was among the best Ive had. BYOB.
Good atmosphere, good food and very pleasant service.
Good vibe and friendly service! It is worth trying! Food
Nothing extraordinary and nothing bad here. I found the soup and tartare really blend. Flank steak was pretty good. The restaurant was kind of noisy even if it was pretty small. BYOB is a plus definitely. Service was somewhat lacking in my opinion, especially that there was 2 waitresses for about 10 tables.
This has been our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood for several years. The team seems to have changed and everything else too! The service is friendly but not professional: you have to ask for bread, you have to pour yourself wine, you have to ask for a meat knife, there are errors in the order, you have to call the waiter who does not have the reflexes of a pro (is everything going well? Pepper? Etc.) The cuisine is unbalanced: the soup (which is not a soup but a puree) is bland, the dish is sprinkled with pepper (which is used to decorate the plate?!). Several items are missing from the menu. Everything is slow even though the room is very small. All this was experienced during our last three visits (we tried to give the new team a chance). It was a great neighborhood restaurant, but unfortunately that is no longer the case. We give two stars out of sympathy. Damage.
Very small place. Very slow service. And very mediocre food. My food was served cold and burnt. We got there at 8:00 and got the main dish at 10:38 so I decided not to complain, eat and leave.
An excellent French restaurant on the Mont-Royal plateau. Remember to book in advance. The dishes are all very good! Bring your own wine :)
The atmosphere is great, the dishes are tasty and the service is impeccable! Everything was really perfect, we were a group of 14 for our Christmas dinner and we were surprised by the quality and generosity of the food. As for desserts, some of us ate the best crème brulée and the best chocolate fondant of our lives there! Extremely kind and accommodating waiter and cook! I highly recommend! Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options offered to us on the holiday menu made our veggies happy!
Great! Between four of us, we ordered the salmon tartar, seafood au gratin, poached salmon, lobster ravioli and the cassoulet. Served with a nice cream of carrot soup. Every dish was delicious. We ALL had fantastic meals. The atmosphere is very cozy. Prices are completely reasonable given the times and the quality of the food more than justifies it. I will be back!
Loved it A+
The duck aiguillettes as a starter were great but the main course was a little lukewarm! Otherwise nice service and honest bill
I have been here a few times (dine-in and order from uber eat during the lockdown) because I love the food. However, I think the price is a bit high for the main dish they provide (the price for dessert and appetizer are very reasonable). My partner (from France) thinks the dishes they serve are regular French food such cassoulet, but they charge the price of a dish in an up-scale restaurant. I do agree the price is a bit high for its food, but I still like the food. So will come back again as usual!
Best French Restaurant, and Ive been to most of them, in the city, hands down! You wont feel like you need a sandwich after your meal. Love it!
I ordered dishes for 8 people which we picked up at the restaurant (cassoulet, starter, dessert). The duck confit in the cassoulet was perfectly cooked, the sauce perfect. Excellent crème brûlée. Good portions. Everything was ready at the appointed time. The whole family really enjoyed it.
Disappointing experience really. Bread was too dry, salmon tartare was just lame and the lamb shank was the driest I ever had and the sauce was just watery. Even the dessert of chocolate mousse was extremely disappointing. My date didnt even finish her steak dish which was small in size. Don t think I would come back. I gave this two star because the server was actually the best thing over there, you could tell he is overworked alone, but he was doing his best to accommodate everyone running back and forth like a madman. I am really surprised this place has a 4.5 rating, it was one of the most disappointing food experience I had in Montreal.
Good and beautiful presentation, klk thing to take back to know a final opinion...you have to go back!, even a nice discovery
Very good! A good place to take a good bottle of wine.
Its really refined, one of the best restaurants on the plateau! I validate!
Great meal!
We used to go there regularly when the owner and chef was in charge of this restaurant which was once one of our favorites. Last month we went back and lo and behold...the experience this time was much less pleasant. Cold welcome, very average service and dishes of lower quality than at the time when everything was delicious. The starter, main course and dessert lacked a lot of love with a hasty presentation.
Excellent service, careful presentation, excellent value for money.
Warm French bistro. The dishes are executed to perfection and are delicious. All meats are cooked perfectly, including rib steak, flank steak, lamb shank and stuffed duck breast. The crisp Gascon and the praline are also to die for. In addition to being a BYOB, the quality of the dishes is there and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this bistro for anyone wanting a great culinary experience on the Plateau.
We have known Le P tit Plateau for years as a beautiful place to meet with friends or family for a good meal and we return regularly. But we also recently discovered that it is a great place for events. We booked the restaurant for a party and were delighted with our experience. The food is even better with the new owners and the very warm service and atmosphere. A huge thank you to the team!
Venison is not as delicious as duck breast and foie gras, but overall it is still good and very cost-effective.
Delicious food! From the first course to dessert. Friendly servers and a great atmosphere. The only downside is that it is a little cramped, and not accessible. There are stairs to get in and stairs to go down to the bathrooms.
Nothing to complain about! The dishes are delicious, refined and in perfect portions. The service is very good and the restaurant is welcoming. A beautiful place we will return to!
Very good little neighborhood restaurant to discover.
Wa so delicious and you can bring your own wine :)
I dont really understand the excellent comments for this place. We come from the southwest and frankly we didnt find the atmosphere either in the room or on the plate. Its minimalist while the southwest is generous and without fuss, expensive for what it is, the bread with the foie gras, barely toasted. The bread for the table, quite rubbery. Foie gras is okay but not great either... Open kitchen, hellish noise in the room, we came out tired! Quite a salty note for a blah blah moment. We will not return there.
Excellent quality of products and exquisite dishes from starter to dessert, beautiful cozy and warm atmosphere, unparalleled service, but... The restaurant should however update its menu on its website with the increased prices. Discovering it there leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. I also deplore the billing in which we give 3 examples of percentages for the tip (15%, 18%, 21%) with the corresponding dollar amount. On the payment terminal, I therefore chose 18% expecting the amount to be the one given as an example on the invoice. Well no, on the bill, the suggested tip percentage is calculated on the total before taxes, while on the payment terminal, the percentage is calculated on the total with taxes. So, choosing 18% (before taxes, according to the example on the invoice), I was surprised that the actual amount was actually a little higher than the 21% given as an example. It s not so much the difference in the amount that disappointed me as a practice that I find unfair. The tip suggested on the billing should be the same as that loaded on the payment terminal. Adjust one or the other. Too bad, because it s this anecdote that I remember and share when I talk about your restaurant. Its excellent, but...
Traditional French cuisine excellent service I highly recommend...
The reservation had not been taken by the receptionist. We had to wait 1 hour outside. The tomato soup was extremely spicy.. The main course (duck in foie gras) was served cold, hard and tasteless (honestly I had to put butter on the duck.. forgot the salt? or a sauce?). Not to mention the wait to receive our dishes. About 1h30. You dont have to be in a hurry. Without telling you that the 5kg mirror fell on us. Im not exaggerating anything, I dont understand the good comments. I am really disappointed with this restaurant. (Im giving 2 stars for the commercial gesture because they offered starters and desserts to my friends. I didnt have any).
There was not enough staff and the one that were there were visibly unhappy with the situation. It wasnt a bad service per day, but not good either. Food
Ate here pre-pandemic for a celebratory dinner--was wonderful! Wheelchair accessibility: Has front step Food : 5/5 |
I recommend this restaurant 100%! This is the only restaurant that tried to accommodate me last minute for my party. The food was delicious and all the staff very human!
A great pleasure to visit this restaurant. Attentive service from our host Hugo, as well as incomparable quality of dishes.
