After reading some negative reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect . However the service, food and food presentation was exceptional! We eat around the globe but this restaurant really stood out . We had the restaurants anniversary dinner and it was so good ! Table side they flambé the excellent steak ! Before that a in house baked bread was brought with churned butter . Attention was giving to fill our sparkling water or anything else we needed. Dessert was so yummy and besides the chocolates and mouse they brought out cotton candy it looked like it was a tree . All in all a very pleasant experience despite the fact they were super busy . The price for dinner was reasonable considering the service and super food we had !
My wife and I were treated to dine at the acclaimed Jerome Ferrer’s Beaver Hall restaurant as part of the MTLàTABLE event. The ambiance at Beaver Hall exudes a charming, elegant yet classic bistro feel that perfectly complements the inventive dishes served. The MTLàTABLE menu showcased seasonal ingredients in a creative, well-executed way, highlighting the chef’s mastery in blending traditional French cuisine flavors with modern twists. Each course was beautifully plated, and the flavors were nothing short of exquisite. The wine pairing was equally impressive and enhanced the meal wonderfully. The service was prompt and attentive, and the staff's knowledge about each dish added a personal touch to the dining experience. However, the one aspect that could use improvement was the cleanliness of the washrooms. For a restaurant of this caliber, a cleaner and better-maintained restroom would align more closely with the high standards set elsewhere. It’s a minor flaw in an otherwise stellar experience. Overall, Jerome Ferrer’s Beaver Hall is an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore upscale dining in Montreal, especially during MTLàTABLE.
I have been to Europea back in the 2010s and it was one of the best dinning experience I had. However, now going back in 2024, the experience was less than spectacular. The quality of the food decreased. As similar to another reviewer, they focused too much on presentation and lost some of the flavor. The portion sizes were also much smaller than expected for the price (i.e. the foie gras dish, I barely find 3 tiny pieces of foie gras). The decor was very trendy and the service was great. Only thing is, they need to focus more on tastes of the food and less on presentation (i.e. one dessert they rolled out a microwave to make instant cake for the next table, but had the microwave within inches from my head. I can still feel some of the radiation... joking).
This was a culinary experience not to be missed! Definitely do the full tasting menu here, takes about 3 hrs total tho, so plan ahead. Don't want to ruin the surprise so here are only some of the pics. Highly recommended. If you want more than just another dinner outing, then come here for lots of surprises and table side shows etc. Best fine dining meal in Montreal imo
We had been eagerly anticipating a visit to Europea. For my 40th birthday celebration, we booked a reservation. We were warmly greeted by the hostess, whose friendly demeanor set a positive tone as she escorted us upstairs to our table. Initially, we didn’t mind the warmth upstairs, but it became increasingly noticeable throughout the evening. The main waiter confirmed our selection tasting menu at half price. When asked about our alcohol preferences, we explained we do not drink it. He then suggested mocktails, and I requested a virgin amaretto sour, my usual choice. His response, “Ce n’est pas possible de faire un amaretto sour sans amaretto,” came off with a noticeable attitude, leading me to forgo ordering any drinks. He mentioned that the first course would be served quickly, with a slower pace as the meal progressed. Unfortunately, the pace was so brisk that we had little opportunity to fully appreciate the delicate flavors of the chef’s preparations. The beef jerky was good but did not stand out as particularly special / Seal-Stuffed Inuit Cushion: although the presentation was exquisite, the flavour was lacking./ Sage Leaf Crispy Melt was a highlight, offering a satisfying crunch and delicate flavours. / Crispy Pork Rinds and Arctic Char the components were not placed close together, and I had to clarify with the waiter which parts should be eaten as a taco, which seemed to irritate him./ 3rd course featured churned homemade butter & a selection of infused oils with bread. During his explanation, the waiter used the term “barrater” for butter which I inquired the meaning, his response was somewhat curt. In contrast, 2nd course was presented by a much more engaging and pleasant waiter. The truffle and Canadian lobster cappuccino, paired with a lemon crisp, was exceptional and my favourite part of the tasting menu. The cappuccino offered a vibrant lobster bisque flavour, and the lemon crisp perfectly balanced the dish. The homemade bread, served with various oils, was delightful. We requested to take the remaining three pieces of bread home / crab cake: candied lemon was barely noticeable, and the dish felt one-dimensional. / tuna tataki skewers and onion soup: while the tuna was of high quality, it lacked a zing that a touch of lemon could have provided. We were served a bowl with a whole grilled onion and soup inside the onion. I asked if the onion was meant to be eaten, and the waiter’s eye roll and curt response made me feel awkward. / 6th course was described as veal and truffle with Black Angus beef tenderloin flambéed tableside, was prepared with cognac rather than brandy as described. The truffle mash outshone the main dish. A highlight of the evening was the interaction with the young, bubbly hostess who guided us through a delightful experience behind the black drapes. Profiterole filled with ice cream and whipped cream, topped with chocolate sauce was served. While it was enjoyable, it lacked a sour element to balance the richness. The maple cotton candy served on a tree, began to melt due to the heat. The maple nuts were unfortunately stale. I was asked to specify my tea choice instead of being given options, my husband received a single americano instead of a double. My husband requested a single bill as we were celebrating my 40th birthday. We noticed that the couple next to us had left without their ducky. My sister asked the waiter if she could have theirs. "Madame, il ne faut pas voler tout ce qu'il y a dans le restaurant, il faut revenir plusieurs fois." he answered. A simple no would have sufficed; how rude! I don’t believe that our experience with the waitstaff should tarnish the restaurant’s reputation. However, the staff does represent the restaurant in their interactions with customers. My visit for my 40th birthday left me feeling disappointed and disheartened. Note that the 20% tip we left should be directed to the hostess, whose exemplary service greatly salvaged our visit. Her high standard of service should be a model for all staff. The bread we took home wasn't ours, had to throw it.
I had an amazing experience dining here recently. Ordered the Midi Gourmand menu and it was so worth it. Even when I had to add extras for the Grilled Lobster Tail. Service is impeccable and attentive. Since I do not drink alcohol they made for me a non alcoholic cocktail which was delish! Ended the meal with the dessert and a macchiato.
If Montreal had Michelin, I don't think this place would earn a star. I have been to many Michelin Star restaurants in US, France, to name a few. This place needs to do better obviously. Food is inventive. We tried the 8 course menu and there were a few items that had good combinations of. But none of them came out impressive. Service is good but servers did not take time to introduce the origin or other interesting aspects of the dish. Instead, they just went over what the dish was - it's hard for guests to appreciate the chef's creation in this way. Expect 3 hours for the tasting experience
Can’t complain about the service. Loved the second course, the soup which they called cappuccino something and the main courses(lobster / steak). Dessert didn’t meet my expectations, I left more than a half of it untouched. Well honestly, I wasn’t that full after all 8 courses as in some other comments.
We have already been to this restaurant three times. On each visit, the service is impeccable, professional and courteous and the food is always succulent. The Beaver Hall lunch menu formula modified with a surprise menu is superb! Very nice change which adds a touch of originality. Very adequate price for meals always generous in service, the tour crowned with a relaxed chic atmosphere. This is our go-to restaurant for celebrating occasions!
Went there as a family on dec 7 after having heard so much about it. Found the atmosphere very cold and loud. Although the serving staff were ok we found the head waiter and their manager extremely rude. The food quality was ok but nothing special even though they would present everything in some obnoxious artistic fashion to make everything look sophisticated. Very disappointing for my families bday celebration.
Really loved this place, excellent food and service, will go there again for sure
Services and food have been in a decline in recent years.
Food was terrible and barely edible aboard an Air Canada flights, the meal had his name in it What a shame to slap it on such a lousy meal Food
An incredible experience!
Dont oversell, overdeliver. I found that the price paid was never worth the experience. The food was good, nothing more. The service was good, nothing more. The atmosphere was ok, nothing more. Nothing up to the bill I received. My expectations were high and were not met, far from it.
I had high expectations for Jérôme Ferrer - Europea, considering its reputation and fine-dining status, but my recent visit was deeply disappointing. The food was just okay, which is underwhelming for a fine dining restaurant charging aroudn $300 CAD per person. Some dishes were overly sour or sweet, disrupting the balance of flavors I anticipated. While the culinary execution met the technical standards for fine dining, there was nothing that truly impressed or left a lasting impression. The environment was nearly a disaster and completely detracted from the experience. We were seated beside glaring blue lights that not only killed our appetite but also discouraged us from taking any photos of the food something I usually enjoy doing at such venues. Also, shockingly, we saw flies several times during our meal. This is unacceptable in any restaurant, let alone one that prides itself on being a high-quality dining establishment. It felt unsanitary and frankly, insane. The service was a mixed bag, with most servers maintaining a professional, albeit plain, attitude. However, one individual likely the manager displayed behavior that was not only unprofessional but downright disrespectful. After paying our bill, we requested to pack our dessert as we were too full to finish it. The manager agreed, and we waited for nearly an hour without any follow-up while the dessert remained on our table. We finally had to raise our hand and approach him directly. He reluctantly fetched a bag, sloppily placed the mixed-up dessert box into it, and handed it to us without a single word of apology or acknowledgment. This behavior is unacceptable in any setting, much less a fine dining restaurant.
Very nice place, excellent service. We went for MTL at the table. It was good, but the dishes were too fatty for our taste (lots of cream in all the dishes).
Very gourmet restaurant with a luxurious atmosphere. We felt very welcome and the food was really good. Very expensive but the experience is worth trying. .
French restaurant at its best (sauce, taste, texture, l art de la table et du service) with a taste of Quebec . I have dined at the bistrot Beaver Hall, a very nice experience. Never dined at Europea, the gastronomic restaurant just next to it. I can definitely see this restaurant win Michelin star(s), but how many can he get? Let s see next year Q2 2025.
Impeccable service and a great experience.
Its one of the best restaurants Ive been in. Creative and flavourful dishes with perfect plating. Service is attentive and they know exactly when to bring the next Service.
The experience could have been perfect if it wasnt for the extremely arrogant and cold service we received. As soon as we arrived, before even choosing a cocktail, the appetizers were thrown on the table without any consideration. The staff was so distant and rude that we almost wanted to leave before we even ordered. In just 18 minutes, we had three dishes served on the table, which demonstrates rushed and poorly managed management. This gap in service unfortunately detracted from the quality of the food and the overall ambiance of the place.
Very nice dining experience
Its obviously great food but not worth it. slightly over pretentious for their own good.
Really a great experience. Enzo is Really nice Ryan and Valentin too it was an incredible experience, and I want to go back as soon as possible!
Must go if in town.
Don t go there if you want the veggie tasting menu. The menu they hand you is outdated, the quinoa was tasteless, the falafel dry (and also not very creative option). The greeting from the kitchen was lobster (as my partner had the non veggie option) - not very inclusive. Same price as the meat & fish tasting menu for some reason.
Amazing restaurant and the food just delicious! Highly recommend!
Unfortunately disappointing. We had great expectations. Service should be part of the dining experience. And here is a gap. We barely had time to sit down before we had the appetizers from the first course sent to us. We didnt understand anything from the 5 people who described the dishes to us. We had no idea what we were eating. We were not asked if we had the food and wine pairing. Our reservation was at 6:30 p.m. and by 8:30 p.m. everything was finished. We didnt savor the experience. After having tried several great restaurants, this one will unfortunately not be in our memories. To celebrate our 9th anniversary
One of the best. Great experience overall and definitely worth the price tag
So good it tastes like heaven
Not very gourmet tasting meal
I really liked my first experience at Europea with the 9-course discovery menu. So, I decided to go back there with my partner to celebrate our birthdays. The first 5 services arrived expeditiously within just an hour. We felt rushed by one of the servers who was otherwise very cold. Not all dishes are explained and a change to the printed menu was not even noticed by the servers. Our last course was forgotten and we had to remind the server. The cold waiter simply ate the dish without apologizing or explaining it to us. In short, for a restaurant that claims to be a gastronomic must, I would have hoped to have much better quality service. The dishes are good and the show aspect is entertaining, but the service left me with a bitter enough taste that I dont want to go back. Furthermore, as some mention, I also noted the presence of flies during the meal (drosophila style).
The cuisine is very creative and the way the dishes are served is very original. Its an experience in itself, a real spectacle! On the other hand, I would say that the dishes were not the tastiest for this type of gourmet cuisine. Everything was good, but few dishes will remain engraved in my memory. I would have expected better. As for the service, I was impressed by the performance of their team, with the exception of the main server (whose name is Maxime), who seemed frustrated and was cold, almost arrogant in all his interventions. He probably wanted to be somewhere else. Fortunately, this is a restaurant where service is provided, in turn, by several members of staff. I give a 5/5 to the rest of the team who served us. They were perfect! In a good mood, friendly and very talented!
Incredible experience
Simply perfect!!!!
If you want to escape and discover a magician who works culinary wonders, it s Europa!
The replacing manager (butler) did not provide good service. Honestly none of the people on the table. Except for one person, 1 in 6 people is not normal. I have already seen better service.
We went to eat at Europea during the restaurant s 22nd anniversary event. This is the third time we have gone there in 19 years and each time we are disappointed Everyone around us loves going there so we sometimes try it, telling ourselves that we shouldn t understand everything The cuisine has still evolved and is better There are still some inventive and very good dishes and others that are simply ordinary. We like to go to restaurants to eat dishes that we cannot make at home, which is not necessarily the case in Europe. Luckily the menu was 90 dollars, we didnt feel robbed but the service was not up to par. There is also a lack of respect from the chef who announces a tuna tataki on the menu only to finally replace it with a gougère , We say to ourselves well it may be a last minute lack of supplies but no, our son there went the following week he had the same thing, plus he took the food and wine pairing and the wines did not arrive with his dishes! Good luck for the Michelin star
When we arrived there, the man who was the assistant manager greeted us without a smile and was simply unpleasant. He should not work at the front but rather at the back of the restaurant, away from customers. He is condescending and arrogant. He took the file I asked for with his hands... he should have taken it with pliers... its not hygienic! He never cleaned up the crumbs lying on the table, and if that wasnt part of his duties, why didnt he ask the waiter before handing out new utensils. I didnt want to make a negative comment during the evening because we were celebrating two birthdays and I didnt want my friends and family to be uncomfortable. He had two billing errors on his part and he got angry, never apologized... frankly he needs coaching, in terms of interpersonal skills and he should make sure that customers are billed correctly before issuing bills to customers. This is by far the worst manager I have met in the restaurant business. I am better received at McDonalds. He corrected both invoices but he clearly showed us his frustration. No professionalism. I wanted to keep a nice atmosphere on the table and I demanded to speak with the restaurant manager at the end of the evening in complete discretion. The next day, the manager, Maxime offers me a free cocktail on my next visit, but as I told him, thats not what I want. I wanted an apology from the assistant manager because he was the one who ruined my evening. I asked for an apology from him and Mr. Maxime could not promise me a return call, but that he would drop him a note. Obviously, he never called me back. Im not surprised either. Luckily, the food lived up to my expectations. The servers as well as the bartender were all very nice and very attentive. But unfortunately we remember what happens at the beginning and end of an evening. Its very disappointing to have such experiences when you go to such a well-known restaurant. In the past, I have always been well served and very satisfied. But that evening, I left embarrassed and I would no longer recommend this restaurant. Europea has an extraordinary boss but a terrible deputy director. What a pity!
It s beautiful to see but above all to taste!! It s an incredible culinary experience! The meals arriving from all sides and the variety of 9 courses certainly add to the excitement. The table arrived at the table to make us live the experience even more intensely each time!! Filet mignon, being more tender than veal, is a treat in my opinion! Its always a pleasure to see how the presentation of the dishes could be as impressive as their taste. They all paid special attention to me for my gluten intolerance!! Special thanks for that!! I even got some bread! For dessert, we were taken to the 2nd floor in a small room where we could appreciate the excitement of the moment more and more! Lots of gifts for each of us but also a lobster oil for my partner because it was his birthday! We even had a few photos with the fabulous Jérôme Ferrer! A whole experience to relive very soon! P.S. For 2 the bill came to over $500 with the cheapest bottle being $100 (ugh) but I have a small downside for that because everything around the main courses was too expensive in my opinion! Sparkling water at $29/person is exaggerated in my opinion! Luckily we went during the $99 half price special instead of $199!!! I m not a fan of steak so I would have liked to have fish on the discovery menu! But hey it was crazy and I will definitely go back!!
Like all aspiring Michelin star restaurants, a lot of what you get are esoteric dishes paired with theatrical performance. You pay exorbitant prices for the show. Not something one does on the reg.
Went for our wedding anniversary and everything was perfect. Amazing food and excellent service.
Distracting immersion in the world of fantasy and theater but in terms of gastronomy it is a high-end illusion that is a little disappointing! It s lucky that I have a sense of humor and that I was invited there by a generous client! I imagine the bistro is a more satisfying and satisfying experience for gourmet stomachs like mine! I even had a lot of fun thanks to the good care of the kind Tristan whom I greet here!
Half figs, half grapes Beaver Hall space, octopus starters and dumplings, superb. The lobster cappuccino, extraordinary. The main dishes, pasta in the wheel, which should be creamy and smooth, was uninteresting, bland, unsalted, in short, big disappointment...the wheel of parmesan was empty in the center. My guest took the filet mignon, asked for medium, received medium rare, parmesan fries, what a stuffing, frozen fries with 3 mini parmesan shavings, honestly. These fries should have been filled with grated parmesan cheese right out of the fryer and been homemade. For our birthday, they brought us a 3cm piece of candy with a candle really disappointing for $400
Nice experience!
Big trap BLING BLING Very disappointed given the ratings left on TripAdvisor with supposedly a 24th place in the world. Its bling bling. A 9-course menu for $185?? One-bite portions. And Im still looking for the taste of foie gras on the 4cm diameter tartlet. It s also a shame that the lobster cappuccino was swallowed in two sips. The only dish that convinced me. Then to eat brioche bread with butter and oil (which is one of the 9 Dishes) I do it very well at home. As for the roast lobster, it could wait until it becomes an adult because I think I had a baby on my plate. In short, a very big disappointment for a final bill with 3 glasses of wine at $260 per person leaving with the end and in addition you have to tip. So I dont recommend it to anyone except perhaps my tax auditor or very Snob and rich people. https://www.tripadvisor.fr/ShowUserReviews-g155032-d684527-r967780241-Jerome_Ferrer_Europea-Montreal_Quebec.html#
Came here last July with my partner, and we haven t stopped thinking about it. We cannot wait to come back and take whatever journey chef has in store. How this place doesn t have a 5 star rating is wild to me
Superb experience! Attentive service, appetizing, succulent dishes, impressive presentation. We loved everything. THANKS!
Very good meal!
Extraordinary !!!
The team was so friendly and welcoming! As a person who doesn t like bread, I found the freshly baked bread and the special olive oil to be a delight! Filet Mignon was so delicious, and it was cooked exactly the way we requested. They can add a couple of Puglia wines to their collection as an improvement. Thank you for the fantastic night!
One of the top rated French restaurants in Montreal. Lunch is more affordable than dinner, yet you can still enjoy what the restaurant has to offer. Highly recommended.
This place is an experience. Food and service are amazing. They also have some fine liqueurs and Cognac to finish. We will be back on our next visit to Montreal. Vegetarian options: They have a very tasty Vegetarian tasting experience. But it is a good amount of food. Come hungry.
Best french we ever had, the Arctic char on maple pork skin was the best.
The overall experience was very bad, food and service. Also, around our table we saw at least 4 flies during the whole experience The beef cost more than 100 dollars but was only cut into 5 slices of very lean beef. We asked for medium but it was already like well done. The beef tasted very dry and tough The waiter also missed to order one appetizer. One of us waited nearly 40 minutes longer and at the end to re-order her appetizer. The waiter did not apologize with sincerity. Then he delayed serving the main course, he explained because one person had not finished the appetizer... But he did not ask for any of our opinions to delay the main dish or not and he did not seem to care... I even felt that they were racist towards Asians Memory recalled that the 1st time we went to the restaurant, we asked for two cups of hot water, but on the bill they charged $15 per cup with a fancy name. When we asked about the $15, the waiter explained that it was the price of hot water Such a restaurant and service is really terrible! Don t waste your money
An extraordinary dining experience I recommend it everything is so delicious
Overall, although the restaurant strives to provide high-quality service and dishes, the experience is very poor. I personally do not recommend this restaurant. Firstly, the taste of the dishes was very mediocre. While the restaurant attempts to incorporate flavors from around the world, many dishes felt like poor imitations that lacked authenticity. The 11-course meal was poorly coordinated, with some dishes having very similar flavors. Additionally, the proportion of desserts was excessively high, making the meal overly sweet and cloying by the end. The service was also unsatisfactory. The waitstaff seemed very busy. The meals pacing was chaotic, making the dining experience feel rushed and forced, lacking the comfort and enjoyment one would expect.
Really pricey, but the food is quite something! Amazing experience, great chef!
A fabulous experience for the taste buds and the eyes! The kind of place you go for a special occasion (unless you have received a nice inheritance...). The staff plays their role perfectly, between pretentious and friendly, like the dishes they serve. The mixtures of flavors and textures are sometimes classic (like the excellent fillet of beef flambéed at your table), sometimes surprising (like the crushed wasabi peas on the trout bite). The service was a little too fast at first, but we gladly slowed down the pace at our request, which allowed us to taste every flavor. We were so daring as to take the 3 wine tasting ($75 for 3 glasses), the choices of which were excellent. We are distributed with the 7th service in our bag - this service takes the form of a little game which earns you a surprise. Brief! It was my 4th visit in 20 years (no, I didnt inherit it from an old uncle), and I left satisfied.
Beautiful decor and ambiance excellent service interesting tasting menu with tableside preparation including flambé of some dishes. Eclectic tableware and a delightful dining experience Parking: There are parking lots available within walking distance and street parking using the meters is also available if you can find
Beyond my expectations. Incredible value: 3 services with one glass of wine for $50\person
We were very pleased with our dining experience. Everything was perfect and the table service was exceptional. I highly recommend this restaurant.
My wife and I have eaten at hundreds of restaurants, including those under the Relais & Châteaux accreditation. These restaurants and hotels have many hoops to jump through to get this label, but I do not know if its possible to lose it or if it needs recertification every year. This restaurant should be re- inspected as soon as possible. Our experience was not haute cuisine, I do not recommend wasting your money here. The service was very good, lots of dishes prepared tableside that provide a unique experience, but the food left little to be desired. (For reference, The beef carpaccio I had at Marcella in Montreal was better than any dish I had at this restaurant.) This review is not about portion size or experience, its about food quality and flavor. A restaurant should not make mistakes when they change 350$+ per person. They also simply cannot make mistakes when they are supposed to represent Relais & Châteaux. This restaurant had a number of mistakes: Mistake #1: The dessert that was listed in the tasting menu did not exactly match what was served. If Im supposed to have chocolate syrup, and you give me blueberry without explanation, thats a mistake. Mistake #2: The waiter forgot one of my drinks and I waited over 20 minutes, eventually having to remind them. Mistake #3: There are indeed flies flying around this restaurant, the reviews below are correct. Mistake #4: The toilet did not flush, and the hand dryer did not work. No signage posted. Mistake #5: The woman that brings you to pick your duck prize appears to be a customer service manager, but I cant confirm. When she asked how everything was going, we stated we were not thrilled about the food, and she replied You are entitled to your own opinion, and there is nothing we can do for you. -- We were not expecting them to do anything for us, we simply gave feedback when you asked us how our meal was. Is that response part of a high quality experience? This was very unprofessional! Mistake #6: Sommelier was late with wine pairing, it was missed during the lobster cappuccino course. Mistake #7: Bringing a microwave tableside and using it as part of your dessert experience. Mistake #8: Throwing away 3/4 of a loaf of bread instead of asking us if we wanted to take it home, very wasteful. With so many other good restaurants in Montreal, this should not be on your list.
I think that this restaurant would benefit from focusing more on the food and less on the show. Although the fanciful way the food was presented was a delight in most cases, the food continuously fell short. The cappuccino had gritty, slimy truffle on the bottom, the ceviche course had inconsistent amounts of fish (mine was all scallop and my wifes was all shrimp, and both tasted metallic and off), the tuna course that they set on fire at the table ends up tasting like eating charcoal, and the lobster course was borderline raw - making the lobster stringy and not pleasant to eat. We noticed the table behind us also sent the course back to cook it more so it wasnt just us. Unfortunately the show part of the food also broke down on a couple occasions. For one course, dry ice drips down through a log and maple tap into a bucket with towels that expand so you can wipe your hands after the snack courses. This is a very clever and fun idea! Unfortunately it didnt work and I had to pour my glass of water onto the towels to get them to expand. And as mentioned above, the table side flaming tuna looked good but made the tuna borderline inedible. And finally they had a blind pairing for one of the wines that I felt was ultimately distracting and made me feel like I was being tested. I cant comment on any of the other courses, because my wife was not feeling well at this point (not related to the food). If the food was better I think we would have powered through, but we decided to abandon the 11-course meal after only 6 courses. I tried to discreetly discuss this with one of the front house members (who was very nice and also tried to keep it discreet), but a rather aggressive gentleman from the front of the kitchen took over from her and made a whole show of us leaving right in front of the entire restaurant. It was totally unprofessional. When he presented us with the bill, the sommelier snatched it right out of my hand to look it over, which was also extremely rude. I guess he was making sure we got charged for the full 250 dollar wine pairing we bought even though I only had half of the pairings at that point. And to be clear, weve been to enough of these places to understand the preparation that goes into each reservation. When I went up to first tell someone we were leaving I made clear that we would pay the entire bill and we werent expecting any accommodations. Nor did they offer us any. We just wanted to discreetly pay and leave without making a scene. They did offer to make as much of the remaining courses for us to take to go, but it was taking a bit too long and we really needed to go. Ultimately we paid our bill and left. Would recommend you go to Au Pied de Cochon (https://maps.app.goo.gl/TBJFLXEumC5PPpvP8) or Garde Manger instead.
We were visiting Montreal for the first time and we were excited to try this restaurant after reading the reviews. When you dine at a restaurant of this caliber you expect to be taken on a culinary journey. Well our tour guide clearly called out sick on the day we dined. No one told us about what we were about to experience and food started to arrive at our table before we even made a decision about our menu option or wine pairing. I will say the restaurant is beautiful. We eventually decided on the 11 course tasting menu. The food overall was good not great. I would say a third of the courses were a miss on taste. The service was also very disappointing. The servers were not very attentive. They would bring out a new dish without removing the last one and we had to ask to have empty plates and glasses removed more than once. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Their Google location is wrong. So I walked around in the rain for 15 minutes trying to find it. When I finally found the door, their sign blew down in front of me and I helped the staff get it inside. There was a free seat at the bar, but they said I couldn t sit there and have a drink because they were fully booked. Apparently kindness, and business, and customer service arent worth much here.
An excellent place to introduce your loved ones to, for lovers of good food. With a certain budget (~$550 for 2 people). We will remember the new flavors and the service, which are of very good quality. Wheelchair accessibility: The ground floor is accessible for people in wheelchairs.
EXCELLENT
Do you expect flies? Come to Europea, flies everywhere and staff who dont care. When we found flies crawling on the plates, it was already there a long time ago. The attitude of the older waiters was nonchalant, its normal, we cant control flies. Do you still want to eat? Then they took away all the plates and pretended it didnt happen. Come on? Restaurants with 20-30 per person will not even have such attitude.
The best dining experience Ive had. We went there twice at their old address and once at the new one and just as perfect. We returned there yesterday 06/22/2024 but I must unfortunately say that it is no longer like before. Impeccable service yes but the presentation beforehand was incredible! Now they are overusing dry ice...the WoW is just not there anymore. Bringing back the before...it was signing the 10-course meal by a director...theres not much missing for us to relive the WoW of before!
We had a very disappointing experience at Jérôme Ferrer on June 21st, 2024, which left us feeling disrespected and mistreated. Despite spending a total of $5000 ($3000 on the bill and $2000 in tips), the service we received was terrible and some of the staff were ignorant and disrespectful. This is a restaurant we will never return to. It was my friend s birthday, and she is one of the kindest and most generous people I know. She always tries to make everyone happy, often giving generous tips. That night, she gave every server that served us at least $100 in cash, including those who only refilled our water. However, her kindness was met with disdain. She tipped our main server (a skinny, tall guy with glasses) at least $500, but his attitude towards her was disgusting. He constantly looked at her with disdain. During our meal, my friend noticed a young white man dining alone at a nearby table. She thought he looked lonely and invited him to join us. While I was in the washroom, she offered to buy him drinks if he wanted to chat. He agreed. However, when I returned, I saw that the server had removed the chair. It seemed the server thought my friend was disturbing the other guest, even though he had agreed to join us. When my friend returned with drinks and saw the chair was gone, she felt disrespected and tried to talk to the young man. He couldn t explain and left abruptly. Throughout this interaction, the server sided with the other customer, even telling me to control my friend. There were some positive moments, though. The general manager came over to discuss the situation and was understanding and kind. A blonde receptionist upstairs and a friendly female server from France were also pleasant. My point is, if the staff didn t appreciate my friend s way of showing kindness, they could have refused the tips. Instead, they accepted the money with smiles but treated us poorly behind our backs. Another server, likely a young bartender, accepted a couple of hundred dollars from my friend to find the best wine for us. Later, when my friend, who had become drunk, snapped her fingers to call him over, he responded aggressively, questioning her behavior and then rolling his eyes before walking away. Overall, despite spending a significant amount of money, we left feeling disrespected and unappreciated. Jérôme Ferrer is a restaurant we will never visit again.
A wonderful dining experience. Service was impeccable. Everything was prepared perfectly.
It s an incredible dining experience!
Served canned mushrooms in an 80$ dish :) awesome!
This is one of the best restaurant that I ever encountered. Excellent service, food, ambient highly re
I had reservations at Beaver Hall and not the main restaurant. When we arrived, the hostess informed us that there was no more room in the bistro and that we would be seated on the Europea side, no problem with that even if the atmosphere was less friendly upstairs. . The only downside is that when I asked for the wine list, the waiter gave me the Europea one, which was obviously much more expensive. I asked if the Beaver Hall menu was the same and he said no but that there would be much less choice. He seemed visibly irritated by the request, but I didnt ask to be placed upstairs so I found it unprofessional to make me feel like he was going to lose money by offering me a less expensive menu... the second server was pleasant, the portions are large. I appreciated that they made a spontaneous gesture for people celebrating their birthdays there.
It was an unforgettable experience, both culinary and atmospheric, and very memorable thanks to our server - Nicolas. A respectful, skillful, charming young man, who really thought of everything, and who perfectly illustrated the high level of excellence that is - Europea. Well done to everyone and my sincere admiration for the care and work of the chef, and his unique way of transforming food into art. Many thanks!
The service is truly amazing from start to finish. The customer experience is so strong! Many restaurateurs should take inspiration from it. What about the food? Excellent.
How to describe perfection! Thousands of stars in our eyes and on our taste buds. A crescendo of flavors unfolded like an opera. Very refined food and wine pairing and adds an extra layer to this taste nirvana. A culinary experience worthy of mention, well done to the whole team and thank you for this wonderful evening.
wonderful food and experience.
Incredible experience, excellent servers, delicious food, well presented.
High end Cuisine. Great service.
One of the best dining experiences I ve ever had. Amazing experience!
Best restaurant in Montreal
The restaurant setting is elegant and warm, perfect for any special occasion. The dishes offered are tasty, prepared with fresh, quality ingredients
A delicate and elaborate cuisine, flavors to be found. The service was impeccable! I highly recommend this restaurant! Vegetarian options: An entirely vegetarian 8-course menu
Unbelievable. Very expensive but an experience you wont forget.
One of my favourite tasting menus anywhere in the world. Good value for money and very cool tour and experiential elements to the meal. Has full vegetarian tasting menu as well!
Unique experience. Good food.
Good service
Excellent service and atmosphere, especially the cabane a sucre room and the Maple Cotton Candy
Worth a visit. The food is consistently good, but the service and presentation is what blows you away. The dessert course is especially satisfying, reaching Willy Wonka levels of whimsy. The staff seem perfectly trained and manage a full room of tables and multiple courses with ease.
Very creative. But not that tasty. I feel like half of the courses are desserts. And the bread too hard. I can see the server are professional trained but with no smile. Bad attitude. Maybe one time try for sure not going back or recommending to other of my friends
Good location in downtown. I dont care about price if great. This might seem a bit harsh, but not worth the money . Because I cant feel special. Idea is good but taste is normal I cant remember. One third of corse are sweet & dessert, also surprised me. They invite us for cookies room, this is fun but I didnt think this is one of course. And I cant believe one of last dessert is cotton candy. The plate on which the cotton candy was a little broken. We cant feel high quality ingredients and good hospitality. Ambience is great. Parking: 32 The Parking price is $32.
The 8-course meal was superb and quite frankly a bargain. The dishes were inventive and delicious. The servers were polite and hustled to respond to our requests. Overall a very enjoyable experience and I highly recommend this restaurant.
Had a few of the best meals of my life at the old location between 2016 - 2018. The new location came off as rushed and gimmicky.
A great culinary experience at this spot, I was a bit nostalgic of my hometown high level French cuisine and that place has it all. The staff is very friendly and highly skilled, products are worked and presented in a creative way ( the lobster bisque cappuccino was amazing) and everything is tasty the flavour of each dish is well balanced. They have a great wine selection to match your menu. The steak sauce flambée is prepared right in front of you and you will feel the heat.
Just wow in every category
The food and experience was amazing. Ive never had the opportunity to dine at such a place before. The bill was expensive, but it was expected and I think it was worth the price of the quality of food and service. However, something happened at the end to completely sour our time. Once my lovely boyfriend paid for the almost $500 bill, we had a server return to our table to ask us how everything was and where we were from. We told him and he continued to say that the tip theyd received was too low for their liking, and the Quebec standard is 15% (which would have been $75!). It was as if we were getting shook down for more money and called stingey. If they had included a required gratuity, that would have been completely okay, but this really blindsided us and weve never been confronted like this regarding tip amount. I think its very unprofessional, and irksome.
Very nice experience with my mother for my 18th birthday. Varied and incredibly beautiful and tasty discovery menu, especially the deer (favorite). A big plus for the service which even allowed us to come home and discover the cuisine and the chef in person.
Fabulous meal, very beautiful presentation. Service too fast, we chose tasting menu with food and wine pairing. We had barely started our aperitif, the glasses of wine were piling up on the table without us having time to finish a single one...I wonder if we had to vacate the table as quickly as possible to make room for others after us...
I have been dreaming about famous restaurants in Montreal that have been closed for decades. Restaurants that are quiet, comfortable, beautiful, top notch service, real french cuisine, excellent wine, and affordable. Dream no more, Louise..
Absolutely amazing dining experience! Exquisite and impeccable service, spectacular presentation... Thank you to your entire team!
The presentation, service and taste is just extraordinary.
I ve never ever disappointed with the service and food, top notch French dishes and kids friendly
The kitchen is passable. I expected better, especially with the Relais & Château appellation. The service is deplorable. I had never experienced this. The servers are rude and very condescending. We were teased by one of the servers. He didnt seem to have any experience in the restaurant business. I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant.
1st and foremost, the greeting, kind staff, not afraid to use wit and humor, was willing to accommodate english speaking guests. The service was immaculate(timing between services). Im not pushy on drinks, which I have to recommend all their cocktails looked amazing. As for the food, it stands for its reputation, unique, delicious, and love the concept for when we went. It is truly worth going it is an experience worth doing. The food presentation was next to none.
My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Jerome Ferrer-Europea during our visit to Montreal for the world skating championship gala concert. After the show, we wandered into the restaurant without a reservation, but the customer service and host graciously accommodated us within minutes. What followed was nothing short of a culinary miracle. From the moment we stepped foot inside, we were greeted with exceptional service, delicious food, and engaging conversations with the attentive staff. The atmosphere was enchanting, creating the perfect backdrop for our evening. As connoisseurs of French cuisine, we were delighted to indulge in the restaurants signature lobster cappuccino and the mouthwatering meat dishes. Every bite was a symphony of flavors, leaving an unforgettable impression on our taste buds. Having dined at numerous high-end, five-star restaurants around the world, we can confidently say that Jerome Ferrer-Europea stands out as one of the best. The attention to detail, the quality of ingredients, and the passion of the chefs are evident in every dish. This dining experience truly made our trip to Montreal special. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire team at Jerome Ferrer-Europea and look forward to returning in the future. If youre seeking a remarkable culinary adventure, this restaurant is a must-visit.
One of the finest innovative tasting menu I ve had. Came here on our first night in Montreal with a same-day reservation. The main dining room offered a direct view of the kitchen, and we liked its lounge-like ambiance. Shortly after being seated, we were bombarded with an assortment of amuse-bouche: Sea Lion Puffs, Scallop Crudo, and Onion Soup. The Sea Lion Puffs were particularly shocking. While the meat was slightly pungent, the novelty behind the puff was certainly commendable. Each dish that followed was also flawlessly executed. Far from mundane, every item on the menu either offered a fresh perspective or a creative twist, and the presentation was consistently impressive. Standout dishes included the lobster cappuccino, the signature calamari, and the roasted lobster tail. I was initially skeptical about the concept of savory coffee, but the lobster cappuccino turned out to be more akin to a lobster bisque with a hint of coffee to enhance its creamy richness. Both the calamari and the lobster tail had exquisitely soft textures, and it almost seemed like they have perfected the art of delicate poaching. The dessert course was an unforgettable finale to the tasting menu, perhaps the most memorable I ve experienced. It began with a brief stroll to their upstairs vault room , a space thoughtfully designed to stir up childhood nostalgia. Here, we were treated to an array of small bites such as meringue, brownies, and cookies. Following this initial treat, we returned to our table to indulge in two more rounds of desserts. Among these, the standout for me was the Calvados-flavored Pomme d amour. The Lychee foam and lime zest added a sweet and zesty flavor, and I liked the touch of sparkling sugar, which added a pleasantly lingering aftertaste. Overall, a sublime dining experience that s worth every dollar. If you want a great introduction to an experimental tasting menu, I highly recommend giving them a try.
So this week like last year we came as a group for the birthday/chalet menu and we were a bit disappointed as a second experience, finally realizing that yes it remains good in general but on the 8 courses nothing exceptional, its the same as last year :(! Just 2 different dishes (the scoter and the snow crab) We dont really understand why for the same theme not to repeat it! The identical appetizers (Jerky déjà vu, scallops déjà vu, sage leaf déjà vu, sea bass déjà vu...) onion déjà vu, capucino deja vu... The arctic char experience ear of screams déjà vu The chalet/box experience already seen but disappointing if we compare to last year which offered 10x more choice Sweet experiences already seen... In short, we remain hungry! It doesnt really make us want to come back for a certain number of years if we ultimately dont rediscover anything new, nothing impactful this year especially given the bill... In short, it doesnt work for us this year but as a first experience you shouldnt be disappointed!
It was our first time we were with friends it was the most beautiful culinary experience everything was well thought out and the flavors incredible
Exceptional.
They heard something about fine cuisine and they summarized it in an excellent presentation. The quality of the dishes is between passable, not edible and vomitous. I wont go back there.
Gastronomic trip to Montreal at the table of Jerome Ferer Europea Magical, exceptional, gastronomic staging
First of all, let me start with saying this is a dining experience. The presentation is very artistic and the flavors are delicate and to be savored. Its not the type of place to go if your interested is a warm, superfilling comfort meal. Atmosphere is beautifully decorated and has nice lighting. Service was excellent, special shout out to Valentino for humoring us. Would definitely recommend for the experience if youre in Montreal for a few days. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly. Hard pressed to get children to eat these things.
Always good
Top-notch French restaurant in the heart of Montreal! If you re looking for a special experience, Europea consistently delights with some of the best food and wine in the world. The best ingredients available turned into art for the eyes and taste buds combined with great service is what drives me to come back. Some of the menu highlights included fresh mint tea, onion soup served in an onion, lobster cappuccino, and more paired with phenomenal wines; also, eye watering variety of deserts my personal choice for best desert was the maple cotton candy. The highlight of the wine pairing was a mistery wine served in black glass. It was of course outstanding in flavor but also unique in appearance.
We were privileged to go to Montreal en Lumière and to have a meal prepared by French Chef Christian Têtedoie. Every thing was outstanding from the presentation, the service and the ambiance. From the moment you enter the restaurant you feel that you at a very special place. And it is part of the fabulous Relais et Châteaux group.
Excellent experience on the occasion of Montréal en Lumières and a family birthday. Very good service from Nicolas who accompanied and advised us perfectly during the evening.
The restaurant was truly a wonderful experience. My partner made a reservation for two people and it was truly marvelous. The restaurants decor is simply magnificent. The staff is super professional, very cordial, and above all, very respectful. It truly was an incredible flavor experience. Im someone who loves to try new flavors and it really didnt disappoint. Additionally, the service is very personalized. They even gave me a beautiful rose at the end of the dinner. The hostess, a super friendly and very nice girl. The thank you cards are very striking. It truly was a very pleasant experience and one that I recommend 100%!
Great food and experience! Super expensive tho
The appetizers were excellent, however the starter, meal and desert lacked flavor. Very beautiful visually, but the taste does not live up to the reputation of the restaurant. The whole thing was tasteless. However, the staff and location are great.
We went there for lunch for a birthday party. We were very satisfied with the decor and its elegance, the French-style service, the dishes and appetizers and sweets. The brioche bread is sublime!
Food was very delicious and service impeccable, professional and customer oriented. The table was close to the glass shelf from which waiters took glasses multiple times.
If you are looking for somewhere that can stimulate your taste buds and artistic mind, this is the place you should visit. We tried the 10-course menu and 7-course childrens menu. They were really good and we all had a good night here. A credit to the restaurant is that its kids friendly. My 9 years old boy really enjoyed the dinning experience here. Kid-friendliness: The staff were friendly to our kids and they offered childrens menu
Its Jérôme Ferrer, it is an awesome experience. The staff definitely makes you feel special, and treats you very well. I tried the 10 service, as well as the caviar with Champagne in the beginning, it was awesome. Definitely recommend, especially if you have someone special to take out, they will ensure your night is special!
I enjoyed the experience of the 8 course meal. The service was pretty good and the food and presentation was creative and interesting. The cocktail of the evening was also good. I am thinking they could likely cut it down to 6 courses easily, as the last three dessert courses could be combined into one. For me, it was way too much sugar, and I would challenge anyone to eat it all and enjoy it. Its an expensive meal, but you are not only paying for the food, which takes time and skill to prepare, but also the many staff that support the service. The location is fantastic, with many people walking by on the street outside as you enjoy your meal.
Yesterday I went to eat with my family at Europea and it was an incredible culinary experience. We loved our evening. Denis and Valentin were our servers for the evening and their service was impeccable. We had a lot of fun. Thank you for making this evening unforgettable.
Poor foie gras! Tiny pieces in dumplings. Couldn t taste it. The cerf was smelly and the tiny teaspoon of sauce was insufficient to cover the odor. The bread was plain and missing the usual delicious aroma and it was much smaller than before. Worst dining experience there in the 25 years we ve been going. Very disappointed! Not sure what the intention is. For almost a grand for 4 adults, the 8 service menu was not worth it!
A very nice experience from the first bite to the last candy, with exceptional service offered to us by Nicolas. Thanks to the whole team!
We had a good time, the place is not too stuffy, which is nice, the music is suitable and Nicolas service was remarkable. Thanks to him. Regarding the food, we really liked the choice of the tasting menu, we like to discover new flavors. From starters to dessert we were delighted, the lobster was perfect. The visual details also change the experience. We loved the moment at the sugar shack, it s the added bonus of leaving with some treats. Perhaps a little expensive, the desire to come back is not necessarily there even if it was very good with quality ingredients. The little words and attentions were also appreciated.
Incredible gastronomic experience! The food is excellent and the service is very good since our server took the time to explain each of the dishes to us. I recommend this restaurant at least once.
It s quite an experience! Very pleasant and surprising evening, impeccable service.
The best restaurant in Montreal, my partner and I were lucky enough to have been served by Nicolas who offered us exceptional service, I highly recommend him to everyone. Thank you very much again Nicolas and the whole team, it was magnificent.
I had the pleasure of dining at Europea a few times in the past and had enjoyed the meals. This time I was invited for lunch. Looking at the menu beforehand, I was disappointed with the choices: only 2 of the 4 choices for entrees and main courses were included in the 45$ price. E xtra was required for the other 2. The menu mentioned « bouchées apéritives » as one of the 4 courses. Really? A handful of popcorn and a small quenelle of crab for 2 counted as a course? The lobster cappuccino is as good as before, though the portion is much smaller than I recall. The gravlax was good but the risotto was bizarre; it was sweet and had crunchy bits in it. However, there was a generous amount of lobster meat. Service is as good as before but the overall experience was not. It s a shame.
Magnificent evening, the service is particularly attentive. Special mention to Denis.
The best restaurant in Montreal! The tasting menu is delicious, the service is perfect! To do without hesitation!
An exceptional place with an Extraordinary menu. The marriage of flavors is there with an exceptional presentation of the dishes. An extraordinary experience
Going to dinner at Europea is like undertaking a pilgrimage leading to the heights of French gastronomy. I have been going to this establishment for almost 18 years now, and I am always amazed by the level of services offered there. First visit to Jérôme Ferrer s new setting, the staging of the culinary works of art presented is still as sumptuous. A treat for all the senses, a renewed experience with always a lot of pleasure.
The best gourmet restaurant tried so far. This restaurant offers you an experience that stimulates all your senses: visual, auditory, smell, taste and even touch. The team is great, everything is done subtly and to perfection, watching them work is like attending a grand ball. Whether its food or wine pairings, everything is exceptional.
This is the second time weve been there and its always perfect and delicious and the servers are very professional, a great experience, thank you.
A great experience, food and services 10 out of 10!
Thanks to Nicolas, Raphaël, Ryan and Hyppolite for this superb evening! A more than attentive service, careful and wonderfully well presented cuisine. Several surprises throughout the experience which punctuated this dinner. An experience to discover!
Oh my goodness, I can hardly contain my excitement! This experience is absolutely incredible! The servers are incredibly attentive and friendly, and every single bite is bursting with flavour! Its like a non-stop party in my mouth!
Superb dining experience and attentive servers!
Wonderful evening. Delectable food and exceptional service.
We were very disappointed at the gastronomic level. There are so many good restaurants in Montreal. We found the food not worth the price. The service however was excellent. We are glad to have had the experience, but we will not return. Portions were good. We were no longer hungry after the meal. Cocktails: very ordinary for $25 per cocktail. Ive had much better cocktails for half the price. Appetizer: Good but nothing more. The onion soup was very good. Jerky good. Scallop, ok no more. Lobster cappuccino: delicious Foie gras dumpling: flavors of the plate go well together. The dumplings were a little undercooked for our taste. Squid tagliatelle: we hated it. I didnt eat half. Arctic char: good but nothing more. Brioche bread with truffle butter = very good. Lobster: my partner found it good but nothing more. For my part, big disappointment because my lobster tail was rubbery in the mouth. The texture was unpleasant. Cuteness at the top: cool concept, good but nothing more. Meringues with varying flavors dont really taste any different from each other. Cotton candy: very good Marshmallow stick: you cant taste the flavor, it tasted like regular homemade marshmallow Apple dessert: very good granita, good dessert but nothing more. Ah-miel (dessert wine): very good
Brought my friend for her birthday, and it was one of the most memorable night of our lives. We had the 12 course meal, and we had much, much more than the finest food or Montreal. The whole experience was a show, a performance. A full blown sensorial experience with music, VR video, even perfume. The new place is also pretty impressive. High ceilings, fancy deco yet a laid back ambiance. We stayed for 4 hours total. We were greeted with a drink, then moved from a lounge-like lobby to our table. The kitchen is surrounded by windows so everyone can see the artists in action. The service was outstanding, and we got to meet Jerome Ferrer who also was very polite. I could honestly talk for hours about the night weve had. But seriously, if you want to know more, just get a reservation and try it for yourself.
Definitely a Michelin star restaurant. Great presentation and creative menu. Server was knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommend.
Each dish had a story, and they were all art pieces! It was a business dinner and we had a set menu. Quite memorable evening.
perfect experience
I would say it s good but not as I expected because there are so many positive reviews online. But firstly, the waitress would never reply to my thank u except one waiter say u are welcome madame. I really expect some higher lever service. And secondly, the deserts seem a lot but not very delicious. Nowadays customers would like to taste something really exciting other than a lot of sugar like cotton candy
Very good service
The only thing I enjoyed was the lobster cappuccino and the Angus steak but the portion was too small. Great service.
An upscale but relaxed place. Excellent service!
The food is good while some waiter do not have good attitudes during the service. The waiter did not even ask us about how would i like to have my steak cooked when we were ordering the steak. And every time when we have questions about the dish, he was arrogant towards us and ignored our requests. My parents are not good at English or French. It was occurred several times that the waiter was urging to get the words from them and make them very uncomfortable without kindly considering the language barriers. I don t understand why he behaved like that, but we were very unsatisfied with his working professionalism.
It is a real food experience .. all foods don t look only amazing but they are also tasty .. Chef Jerome is a real chef .. and foods are his arts.. every course we tried were different and tasty .. also servers are very friendly.. Kid-friendliness: They have special kid menu and my son loved it .. it was kid version of our food ..
Excellent dining experience every time! I highly recommend to everyone! Wonderful service and outstanding team! THANKS
Impeccable service! Really a great culinary experience I recommend. I love it I love it!!!
For the price you pay, it is just okay. I understand 8 courses can take some time, but man was the pacing slow! We sat down at 8 and didnt leave until after 11:30! They also completely forgot our 2nd course *we asked for it, and they eventually brought it in between the 3rd and 4th courses* I think the waiter was either overwhelmed or cared more about the VIP table next to us. Another waiter started taking care of us after those guests sat down and we hardly saw our original server the rest of the evening. I was excited to dine here and honestly left a little disappointed.
Only one thing to say: to try, it s quite an experience. Cuisine and service A1
Its a restaurant that I invite my loved ones to when they come to visit me in Montreal. This time there were 7 of us and we were all disappointed. For the first time, I was ashamed to praise this restaurant. It is to the point of wondering if the administration as well as the leaders have changed. Food: we had the tasting menu. The classic lobster cappuccino was delicious, the onion soup and scallops as well. I felt a drastic decrease in quality and creativity in the other bites (churros, tacos, leaf-shaped pastry with repetitive Parmesan flavor) as well as the desserts (marshmallows, cream sugar) which did not absolutely not impress. The main dishes were lukewarm for some. The quality of the ingredients was there, but the execution is no longer the same. Service: Our server was very novice with palpable nervousness. The order was taken by addressing the group rather than per person, the napkins had to be requested while the first service was being carried out, the other tables all had a bottle of oil which we did not have, a guest who was chatting was cut off by the arm of the waiter who was placing utensils directly in front of her face, he asked me to remove a potato chip that had fallen on the back of his hand because he was not allowed to touch it to food, etc. Atmosphere and others: one of my guests returned a dessert spoon which was dirty. The dessert utensils are quite worn. It is surprising to see the toilet paper roll just placed on top without support. You would expect it at a service station but not at Jérôme Ferrer! I sincerely hope that this restaurant will raise its standards to those of yesteryear so that we can be proud of it as Montrealers.
The culinary experience the chef was looking to create, was world class. Too bad the service was not at the same level. The service was very disappointing. We had to request several times for an additional glass of wine. We felt rushed and the waiters were rude when we were asking about the dishes. This was meant to be an experience and enjoyed. It s too bad the waiters were not enhancing the experience.
Top tier. The exp was great
Culinary Delight at Jérôme Ferrer Europea Returning to Jérôme Ferrer Europea for the second time with my husband was a reaffirmation of its excellence. The gastronomic journey we embarked on was, as expected, flawless. The ambiance, service, and French cuisine were the epitome of perfection. Its no wonder this place remains on our list of favourites.
Good evening, I would like to express our gratitude to you for the wonderful evening we spent in your establishment. That evening, we celebrated the 40th birthday of my dear friend, who was discovering your establishment for the first time. I would like to thank you warmly for this memorable evening and for the experience you gave us. My friend told me how amazed she was by the presentation of the dishes, the quality of the service and above all, by the exceptional level of the customer experience. As for me, I literally loved the dessert moment. My childish heart applauded each creation that presented itself before me. In summary, well done and thank you for offering us such a refined culinary experience, which makes your establishment the best in Montreal.
What can I say...it was a sublime experience! My partner and I were sincerely impressed by the creativity of the menu, the impeccable service and the atmosphere. I highly recommend!
Excellent restaurant, high quality food and service In my gastronomic experiences in Montreal, that is one of those that stay at the top. The service was excellent during all time - recommendations, table, bring the dishes, take out, wine expertises, every thing. About the dishes, you can fell they try to mix good ingredients and creativity. My favorite one was the Bife with Foie Gras AMAZING! As start the crab hand was good as well - I asked for a little bit of black pepper and makes a positive difference at the plate. About the Fish I felt a little disappointed cause the sauce was not surprise - or flavored - and all the fish was covered by that, so I couldn t actually taste it. The cheese plate as desert works great :) The bill come to the table in a little box with chocolaty inside, super delicate by the restaurant side. I strongly recommend this restaurant! Food: 3/5 Environment: 4/5 Reception: 2/5 Experience: 2/5
Incredible culinary and taste experience! Very original and refined. The dishes are full of surprises. The servers take great care to make the evening unique. A gourmet restaurant that I highly recommend for a timeless evening
Our experience at Jérôme Ferrers restaurant was perfect. The interior design is absolutely striking. From the quality of the ingredients to the presentation of the dishes, nothing is left to chance. A capable and professional service team accompanies you throughout the evening. I recommend this place to lovers of European gastronomy and to anyone who wants to experience something more than just a dinner.
Creamy, fatty, rich is there
Big disappointment at Europea! Very cold welcome by the butler on duty, very pompous and absent of a smile. The cuisine is very fatty and salty, nothing good for your health. Everything is prepared with 35% cream, from the lobster cappuccino to dessert. The crab starter with extra $15 is absolutely not worth the cost. The taste is ok but nothing more and tiny portion. The Icelandic cod prepared with coconut milk was tasteless and the one prepared with butter sauce was literally heart-stopping (only tasted like butter). We all know that French restaurants have always been about very rich and savory cuisine, but Europea truly beats all the records. Their chef would benefit from reinventing himself and living the reality which now focuses on healthier, healthier cuisine with more vegetables. It would be wise to follow the example of Mediterranean restaurants for example (Portuguese, Italian, etc.) which do not need to salt and butter excessively for it to be tasty. Decor, cold atmosphere invaded by stressful lounge style music that they refused to change. It literally felt like a hotel bar. When we came out, a hostess was standing at the door. As we passed, she lowered her head without saying a word... Truly, there are several excellent restaurants in and around Montreal, where the cuisine, service and atmosphere are of better quality and at a lower cost!
Very disappointed it was bland without taste!! The waiters were in such a hurry that we felt their stress very unpleasant...their cocktails tasted like water!! And unfortunately I found a hair on my plate! Something that can happen but very disappointed to see that in an establishment like this I was not even offered a small box of sweets to apologize for the incident...It would have been the least I could do...
4.5/10 for a gastronomic experience in Jérôme Ferrers restaurant?!? Yes, thats the rating Im giving, because unfortunately, it didnt live up to my expectations. To start with the positive point, we were very well received but then the service started to deteriorate. The waiters spilled water on us, didnt collect crumbs from the table well and spoke to us in a condescending tone. My flank steak was cooked incorrectly, it was way too rare. The croutons were stale as if they had been prepared a long time in advance. In short, I could say more about it, but I will refrain.
first of all the service was without flaw. but that wasnt the case for the food. the first service was really good and the bread was delicious however the second was left to be desired and the beef was mid at best. but what saved it all was dessert which was devine.
Where to even start reviewing this restaurant? We dined at the original restaurant in 2013 and had the best meal I had ever had until this one. We had the 8 course tasting menu and its hard to say which is more exceptional - the service and presentation or the food. The whole experience is just over the top wonderful and the food was superb and perfect in every way. From lobster cappuccino to crab cakes to Montreal ice and then the special visit to the store - it was just beyond words. Just go!
Food was pretty and interesting to look at. Hardly any of it was appetizing. Very surprised this place has such high ratings.
I would say you pay for the experience because I was very disappointed with the selection of the 8 service menu and the quality left something to be desired. The lobster tail was rubbery, the Alberta beef was full of nerve and worst of all, youre still hungry when you leave the restaurant. The only thing I tasted was the Spanish wine and coffee. There were 3 of us and 2 of us were sick the next day so I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone and it was my last visit personally.
We loved it. It was like feeding on art. Thanks to Nicolas for the excellent service.
Long review Food and the set menu experience is probably 4.8/5. Will talk about it in the second part of the review. First, reason why I m frustrated and giving it 1 star only When I go to a fancy restaurant, one of the minimal expectations is that you get the bill right. You make a mistake, no problem, you fix it, everyone makes mistake. But then you tell me you can t fix the error and instead, offer me an alternative. If you truly respect your customers, this alternative should be >= the error you made. Which is not the case here. Here is the rant. It was dinner for 2. We both ordered a glass of champagne/wine to start. Then I ordered the 4 glasses wine pairing (prestige bundle). We were happy with the meal, everything s good. Then they started serving desserts, and someone came with a loaded cart of different alcohol selections. At this point, I only had 3 glasses of wine from the pairing/bundle, so I thought, the last one of the four pairings, for the dessert, I get to pair whatever I want by myself, and I ordered a brandy. Bill came, I took a look, the total was reasonable, so I was about to pay. Then the server came back and said he made an error and needed to re-run the bill. He brought the new bill, of course now I wanted to take a closer look. They charged for the 4 glasses wine pairing, and charged for our starter champagne/wine x 2, and charged for the brandy I got. So I told the server there is a mistake, if you charging me separately for the brandy, then I only had 3 glasses of wine from the pairing/bundle. He said he will look into it, and came back and admitted that they made a mistake, but he can t change the wine pairing to the 3 glasses wine pairing bundle (which is $75 instead of $125 for the 4 glasses pairing), unless I choose to talk to the manager about it . Alternatively, he took off one of our starter wine from the bill, which is some where between $20 and $30. I admit, I was weak, I didn t want to argue this after a special meal with my partner which we both enjoyed. But it turns out, I am still very frustrated two days after the meal, hence this long review. Yes, it s not even $30, but hey, this is also just one out of the hundreds of reviews posted You admitted you made a mistake, and assuming you know your menu (which you should), you know you are over charging me for $50. You removed a $20 item from the bill and basically told me that my options are either take it or it will get complicated cause I now need to talk to the manager? In any decent restaurant that respect their customer, the manager should already be at the table apologizing for the mistake. Apology if my expectation is high when I go to a place and paying more than $100 in tips or am I supposed to be grateful that you didn t remove the tea from my bill as compensation instead, which is only $10? If you got this far, or simply skipped my rant above, the food itself is amazing. And I loved the theme. The Chalet is very creative, loved it. One of the desserts definitely can bring out the kid in you. So I guess that also means it may not be for everyone. But even if you didn t enjoy the theme, the food is amazing. The lobster cappuccino sounds SOOO weird, but tastes great. And the venison s cooked perfectly. Minus 0.1 cause the desserts are too sweet for my liking. And minus 0.1 cause the first few dishes felt a bit rushed. Thank you for reading.
Do not come here if you dont speak French. They treat you very poorly, very cold, speak rudely and when coming down the stairs from the dessert room, I was shoved to the side by the waitress. We did the 10 course menu. Food was not amazing for such an expensive restaurant. The small lobster cappuccino was the highlight of the night, the venison tasted AWFUL and they focused more on theatrics (lots of smoke and dry ice) versus the quality and taste of food. Atmosphere was clean but the staff again treated you very poorly once they know you speak only English. Would not come again.
very good with going
Overall nice experience, however, the food itself was the least exciting part. Presentations were fun and gimmicky, however, found that the food itself was lacking.
A little above my bib. Difficult to eat. Too much tension. The rest is magnificent.
