4210b Rue Saint-Jacques ouest, Montreal, Quebec H4C 1J4, Canada
Restaurant caribéen situé à deux pas du métro St-Henri, où la richesse culturelle des îles se traduit dans la variété de nos plats et saveurs.
If you're looking for a place that combines excellent, consistent food with a welcoming atmosphere, this is the spot! The quality of the dishes never disappoints, and the flavors are always on point. The ambiance is equally wonderful. What really sets this restaurant apart, though, is the owner. He’s incredibly friendly and makes you feel like part of the family. It’s no wonder this place is in our regular rotation.
Overlooked Haitian cuisine place. I was surprised how tasty the dishes were! I went on a Wednesday night, so they were missing some of the menu items. Shrimps 10/10. Overall great experience, from food to service and atmosphere.
Loved it here. The food was delicious and atmosphere was really quaint and unique. Waitress missed an item we ordered but no big deal because the food we did eat was delicious. Only remembered to take one picture but would definitely go back.
Very small place, there's like probably 8 small tables. Very nice waitress. The portions are very small tho it's a tapas vibe, you need to get several plates to be full. The food was okay nothing wow, I feel like I was expecting more of this place, more flavour. We got the wings, plantain, the shrimps and the guacamole with the plantain chips and it wasn't enough, we ended up going somewhere else to eat more.
I’ve always been curious about what people were eating whenever I passed by Atwater Market, and I finally got the chance to try it! I ordered the BBQ Chicken, which tasted quite similar to jerk chicken, and the hot sauce on top was delicious with a hint of mango. As for the patties, I tried both the codfish and beef—while the beef one was tasty, the fish one had a bit of a strong flavor. The chicken wings were average and could be skipped. The highlight of the meal was definitely the shrimp. It was perfectly coated, fried to a crispy finish, and paired with a fantastic sauce that made it absolutely irresistible. We even ended up ordering a second round of it! Overall, the portions are on the smaller side, more like tapas. Without drinks, it’s about $30 per person.
some of the best haitian food in mtl. the vibes are really good. i really enjoyed the mango wings and the riz djondjon. the staff is very hospitable as well.
If you love homemade comfort food, this is it. It's such a cute place and the food is amazing. The owner came to talk to us, and it just feels like you're in someone house. Made me miss my mom's cooking! The portions are great. We shared everything and still took food home. Service was great and accommodating! Please go! support tour local eateries. Montréal is full of these gems!!
Delicious food, friendly staff and great atmosphere At the time of this review, it's been my third time to this delicious place Delicious food with reasonable portions - pretty fast service in a very nice atmosphere! The shrimps are particularly delicious, as is griyo of course! Portions are great and prices ar reasonable, though you're better off ordering 2 servings of the 4 shrimps rather than the 6 shrimps - 4 shrimps at 9$ is 2.25$ a shrimp, whereas 6 at 14$ comes to 2.33$ a shrimp Definitely recommend the place!
Always have a good time at pikliz the place is nice and cozy feels like a little taste of the caribean in canada staff is nice food ia delicious higly recommend
To be honest, its not the best Haitian restaurant Ive been to. First of all, I appreciated the service but for the food I give zero. The chicken had no taste, neither did the rice. It had nothing to do with the tastes that a person of Haitian origin would expect to have. In addition, I ordered two pâtés as starters for $3.50 each...the pâtés were not whole, I could only take one bite of that...its a shame. My friend who is of Burkinabe origin was of the same opinion as me...I would like to add that for the price that this restaurant suggests it does not reflect the quantity of food that we are supposed to have...it is unacceptable but when we dont look at the other Haitian restaurant options around us we get caught in a trap. On a more positive note, the restaurant is aesthetically beautiful and has a good atmosphere but it is not a place I would recommend.
DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Not worthy of a Haitian restaurant! What we call a Griot dish comes with its accompaniments (rice, salad, plantains) everywhere in all Caribbean cuisine restaurants. You sell each thing separately, what that!!!
Came all the way from Boston to visit the city of Montreal and came across this place. being Hatian, i held high expectation to the food, and this place lived up to it, the food was bomb and the people working there was amazing, got a chance to connect with the owner, and he was a stand up guy and was super cool to connect with, thanks for a great experience.
This evening I was served by one of the two brother owners. He took the time to explain the menu to me and give me his recommendations. It was the first time I ate there. I took takeaway. And let me tell you, it s the best griot I ve eaten since I discovered Haitian culture 10 years ago. He was astonishingly tender. The rice was tasty and wasnt dry at all, and the plantains were good. It s a great discovery next to Place Saint-Henri station. Fine food and great service!
Fantastic food and great atmosphere!
Great experience for my stay in Montreal in August 2024 I had a great time, small fusion restaurant, delicious tapas, a good atmosphere we were 3 girls it was really great thank you to the staff as well as the management for this wonderful moment
I discovered PIKLIZ restaurant thanks to a colleague and I admit that I really liked it. For our get together, it was the ideal place, convenient for public transport (metro Place Saint-Henri) orange line. The atmosphere was there and the food hmmm , the waitress Paule is inexplicably kind, she knew how to get into our mood which allowed us to really feel at ease.
My party and I had the pleasure of coming here for dinner last night. Not only was the food delicious, but the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were particularly happy to speak with the owner Akim, who is full of life and incredibly generous. Eating here truly feels like you re sitting with your family at the kitchen table. We will gladly return!
Incredible food. We ordered catering for 15 people and everything was ready on time. The food was so tender and all the sauces on the side made everything taste even better. Will definitely come back for some drinks next time.
Amazing service!
Rude waitress You must use good manners
The food was absolutely delicious but the portions are far from what is expected from Haitian take out. I got the riz Djion-Djion as an extra for 10 dollars and the portion filled up the container. 15$ chicken for what seem to be half a chicken leg ( 7 tiny pieces). Overall excellent but overpriced for the portions. I probably won t be ordering from this place again.
We had the poutine, the wrap and the rice they were so delicious. The drinks were amazing and the vibes in there outstanding! Definitely going back next time we re in mtl :) If you don t go you re missing out !
We were visiting Montreal on holidays and went for a dinner. Pikliz was one of the best meals of our trip. The goat was amazing, the accras were so light and delicious and the rice djondjon was the prefect accompaniment. The staff were all so welcoming and we have wonderful conversations with everyone we dealt with. Its a great family restaurant that feels like going over to your friends house for dinner, assuming your friend is also an amazing cook. We cant wait to go back next time were in Montreal!
Very bad service and excessive waiting
Unprofessional waitress specially the girl with tattoo on her body, bad attitude with uber driver. Not recommended .not because of food only for bad serving other human beings.
definitely one of my favorite Haitian restaurants in the city. If you wanna eat from the youth with mamas hands. The vibes are great, music is amazing.
Hell to the yeah, this place is incredible!! Delicious food and wonderful service! Céline assisted me with my two pick up orders and was so friendly and efficient. The mango wangs, shwimps bowl and makawoni salad were all soooo yummy! Super recommend Piklìz and we ll definitely be coming back!!
The folks who work there are absolute gems of human beings. I cant recommend this place enough - food, service, price, everything is above and beyond. Ive been going since its opening and Ive never been disappointed.
1st time Ive ordered from them, and Im EXTREMELY disappointed... Goat dish for $22 excluding tax. and fresh, there are 5 pieces on the plate, and the rest are bones. The thing arrives COLD (even though I live 3 minutes by car from the restaurant). The meat is ultra dry, it just tastes like vinegar, no accompaniment (frankly a bit shameful, for the price... Forced to make rice at the same time), and pikliz... Seriously?? 1 teaspoon??? Cheaper, you die! Last time I order there. And if thats what we eat in Haiti, some advice: come and eat with us, in Guadeloupe, if you want REAL Creole food, and generous dishes! This restaurant is actually a joke...
Excellent food, strong service, perfect location, owner greets everyone, drinks are superb. What more is there to say: it s a 10/10
Delicious food Amazing people Fantastic service Food : 5/5
The Kabrit was more than delicious, the djon djon, the malanga accras! Thank you for your kindness!
Tasty, fresh and delicious food. Good atmosphere and very friendly staff, able to accommodate you to make you feel at home.
25$ for this? The quantity/quality price ratio doesnt make sense. I put the chicken in a cup..its 1/2 cup of chopped chicken for 15$+taxes. We used to like this place, but even with todays prices this is insulting. Food
The server and owner were very welcoming and inviting. I was there with 2 vegans: they ordered guava juice, the Accras, the Riz Djondjon (without meat sauce) & the Veggie Pikliz Bowl. I ordered the Riz Colé and gave them a portion before adding chicken sauce & aioli. I also had the Ti Bato & a glass of one of their specialty wines. Everything was wonderful, we were all full! Nice temperature inside, comfortable seating, plus the music was bumping but not so loud that we couldnt hear each other. Vegetarian options: See longer review, they have some good options, just not labelled on the menu. Kid-friendliness: My child (6 years old) was very welcomed.
Very good restaurant! With good service!
Love it
Amazing Experience I recently had the pleasure of dining with my wife at Pikliz in Montreal, and it exceeded all our expectations. The staff was nothing short of amazing attentive, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure a great dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish was packed with flavor, and you can tell they put real heart into their cooking. To top it off, the prices are very reasonable, making it a fantastic value for the quality you get. The atmosphere is also warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. Highly recommend!
One of the best in town Vegetarian options: Riz colle Plantin Salade Wheelchair accessibility: Oui
Food & music were nice. Definitely going back
Amazing food, Great Vibe, Wings 5 Rit Djon Djon 5 Food : 5/5
The rice has no taste, the kid had a weird taste. The pikliz
Amazing experience, customer service was excellent and the food as well. Highly recommend this place!
The food was very good especially the djondjon rice and the waitress is super nice
Great food, the best restaurant in Montreal. I really recommend this place, the food is tasty and the service is great. Must try Food : 5/5
The ambience of Pikliz was a great addition to the delicious food. Service was beyond friendly and quick. The owner is great and had a nice little conversation with my partner and I. I highly recommend anyone visiting to check Pikliz out for their Haitian food cravings <3
Cute spot! The decor was amazing and the food was even better! I loved the rice and beans, the goat was very tender and the drink was amazing. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this place
The food is excellent!
Had the shrimps coconut and riz djondjon and everything tasted like homemade food, which means I m def going back! The service and the ambiance were top notch. Keep up the amazing work guys <3
I came for lunch and I loved this restaurant. The food is excellent and very well seasoned, full of flavor! Go there, very good value for money.
You can tell they care deeply about the quality of their food and the happiness of their customers. And the food is fantastic. Great vibe inside too. Pikliz is a true gem. 10/10
The food was delicious, server was so sweet and personable, and the vibe immaculate. Definitely a place to check out next.
Amazing food amazing service amazing vibe Never a dull moment here Someone mentions Pikliz and my mouth waters Food : 5/5
Hands down the best creole food on the island! Staff/proprietaire hyper sympatique
The food is excellent full of flavor and the service impeccable. I highly recommend discovering this restaurant!
Went here yesterday right before closing and the food was still extremely fresh and delicious. We ordered takeout and sat outside, but the service was pleasant and the ambiance inside seemed nice. I had the bol du griot and my friend had the shrimp wrap and we both really enjoyed our food. Its not the traditional Haitian food youd get at a casse-croûte style restaurant or a takeout place like what Ive had in the US, but I appreciated the freshness of the ingredients and that their menu still offers some traditional options. Cant wait to come back and try some more items on the menu.
Tasty food - fast and friendly service - cosy place.
My sister and I loved our visit to Pikliz. The waitress made us feel welcome. She was smiling and attentive. Although she was alone, she took care of restaurant customers and take-out orders very well and we didnt want for anything. The food was excellent. We ordered the beef pies (as flaky as you like), the shwamps and the accras (crispy) and the mayonaise that accompanied our starters was delicious. The macaroni was also very good with its little crunch on the top. We ordered the pikliz wrap with griot and it was very tasty with the guacamole, pikliz and sauce. We also loved our Ti Soley drinks and our desserts: the pineapple cake which was served as we like it: hot and the excellent banana fritters which melted in the mouth. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.
Great welcome, Akeem was honestly great! Paule too, super funny and friendly. The meals were generous and tasty (griot and petit bato), the drinks super good, the atmosphere, the music, the decor. We just wanted to stay! Thanks for the experience, it was nothing short of exceptional! Bitten and Julie
Delicious food & amazing service! Truly never disappoints! 10/10
Woooow wooow ok I thought I had tasted all the griot in Montreal but I just came across my top 1 griot and the worst is not even its specialty poutine wrap browse griot
Poutine with bakrit is delicious
Best veggie bowls and amazing atmosphere. The restaurant has so much personality and everyone is so friendly :) Vegetarian options: Has a couple of vegetarian options that are super delicious!
This place is awesome! Amazing food, very friendly service! Reservations recommended as it is a small space that fills fast.
Delicious food, great service
Really good vibes at this place, food was amazing mckyla made sure we had everything we need! We live 3 min away walking distance so we re coming back for sure I would definitely recommend
We LOVED our evening, the atmosphere, the team, the service and what can we say about the food, a pure delight! thank you Akim for making us feel at home! We cant wait to come back
Awesome. Four of us went and shared a few small plates. All were excellent.
I really recommend! Very welcoming, intimate and warm. The portions were generous and the griot was one of the best I have eaten! It s a beautiful portrait of Haitian cuisine.
Tried the new menu, it s unreal! The mango wings are sooooo good
For the first time I liked my experience. I liked my starter Ti bato and my main poul griye bbq pique . My ti punch cocktails with the famous Barbancourt 8 years old and my kokoye margarita were excellent. On top of all that, the price is very affordable .
The taste is not it. Doesn t taste like authentic grio. Small portions. Very disappointing. But beautyful presantation.
What more can i share than a perfect experience since its opening?!
Very nice experience. Delicious food and impeccable service from the team!
Thanks again for the great meal! The additions to the menu are well balanced and varied. Service by the host as always courteous and warm. Excellent meal in an atmosphere featuring the warmth of the tropics. Very nice evening!!!
The Acacia brothers serve Haitian delicacies! Everything is worth tasting so come back!
First experience and we will definitely go back It was really really good!!!! The service was perfect! Many thanks to Kim and the owner
A restaurant that was worth the detour. We traveled a long way to the south shore and upon arriving early for our reservation, the owner still gave us a place. Once seated, and after seeing the menu, we enjoyed some good starters. Subsequently, griyo, stuck rice and djondjon, pikliz and hot donuts for dessert, everything was delicious, excellent cooking without forgetting the prestige. Generous dishes to enjoy as a couple and the value for money is worth the trip. In short, a good experience and your taste buds will not be disappointed. The music reminds us of the good years and even a DJ who arrives in the evening. BIG UP to Kim and the owner Akim..and I can tell you that we will come back with back up to let them taste your excellent cuisine.
So fresh, so delicious, if I ever go to jail I want the Pikliz bowl to be my last dish, and for Paulee to serve it to me. What a beautiful angel. I want to marry her if possible. But back to the food, YUMMY!!!!! YOURE A FOOL IF YOU DONT COME HERE.
We went to eat as a family at the Piklìz restaurant. We ate very well in a pleasant atmosphere.
amazing food, great service, great vibe try it
I was on a Saturday with a group of friends, the atmosphere was warm with Dj on site. The food was delicious, we had the griot with macaroni and sticky rice honestly we left nothing at all in the dish were going back for sure! Thanks again PIKLIZ.
A successful evening! The hospitality and atmosphere are definitely there. They are very friendly and attentive to customer needs. The icing on the cake is the food! Tasty, fresh and authentic full of flavor! I highly recommend this place for a happy hour or a birthday.
Small place but the food is great and the owner will go out of his way to make you feel at home :) Will be visiting again!
To take away, a classic griyo, very good like all griyos, $26 + $4 tip =$30 ouch!
Excellent Kabrit, great taste and beautiful atmosphere!
First time visiting. Won t be the last. The food is amazing. Truly it is made with love and gives you homemade vibes. The whole space is comforting and the servers are welcoming and friendly. This place was referenced to us by some friends who expressed the authentic flavours about the food. You will not be disappointed.
Ive been wanting to try this restaurant for a very long time and I was definitely not disappointed with their food! The taste of the griot and the wrap was excellent. The griot was tender and juicy The only slight flaw is that I expected larger portions for the price, however it was still very filling. If you are looking for a good Creole restaurant in the area, definitely go to Piklìz
We loved our experience! A place to discover and return to.
Very good good. Take the train as parking can be hard to find. The food however could be a bit spicier.
Very good little restaurant. The griot melts in your mouth. The shrimps were so flavourful. The aioli sauce they give with the fries was so tasty. Service was great! Music and ambience were really great. It s loud when you first walk in, and it seems cramped because it s such a small place, but once you re seated, the tables have ample space to be comfortable and have a wide variety of plates. Didn t understand why we weren t allowed to buy a Jarritos without buying a taco, but that s just a detail. We like water anyways, which they give you a nice cold bottle of upon arrival. Will definitely return!
Kabrit was dry and tasteless. Shrimp and calamari had no seasoning. The sauces they come with were the same quality than what you would get at a fast food place. Beef feuilleté was as good as what you can get in England. Upside pineapple cake was alright, more cherries than pineapple I find.
Lu Kala ate here. Proves how good this place is!
Delicious Haitian food right in St-Henri. Service was impeccable, my friends and I made a huge order because we wanted to try nearly everything.
Perfect, Haitian taste
Great discovery. Special shout out to the salad. I didnt think the veggie bowl could have such an effect on me, but frankly the salad is delicious (Im speechless), the rice is very good. 10/10!
One of the Best in Montreal that I have eaten for beautiful atmosphere and Creole Eating made by a Quality Chef It s Giouuu!
Great experience at Pikliz, music, atmosphere, good food and great welcome from the team. DJ on Saturday, I highly recommend Kabrit!
Wonderful little restaurant, welcoming, warm and attentive service. Incredible music and atmosphere. The drinks (pitcher hibiscus tequila lemonade) are amazing. The meals are varied, very good and plentiful. Cant wait to go back to try more dishes. Vegetarian options: Veggie bowl, accras, plantains
Very cute little restaurant in St-Henri, that serves amazing Haitian food. We are very picky when it comes to griyo and this place just nailed it. Their riz collé is absolutely the best! They have great appetizers, we loved the accras and wangs. Dont forget to order the drinks, they are The service is very fast and attentive, we loved the staff.
Best griyo and banana pezé in Montreal. Excellent service!
The atmosphere and welcome is warm in this little restaurant where you feel a good vibe as soon as you enter. DJ at the end of the evening. Nice The food is fantastic with attention to detail in flavors and presentation. Really cool cocktail and natural wine menu. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality that is offered. Falling for something.
Ordered online through uber eats and the portion was out of the ordinary. the quality of the food was also awesome, i tried a lot of different creole spots on ubereats and this was by far the best experience so far. thank you so much guys!!
Had their fries for the first time. My sister only buys fries from this restaurant. She told me they were great. This time they were way too salty. Plus they reminded me of Lafleures fries
Great tasting food and cocktails! Nice music and ambience : )
Nice atmosphere! Impeccable service!
Celebrated my bday with friends and family. Absolutely loved this restaurant its small and cozy. The service is excellent the food was delicious The shrimps and the cabrit where my favorite. Theres a Dj on Saturdays the beats and music was so good. I truly recommend. The waitresses and owner where so kind. Je me suis beaucoup amusé !
My family and I had a lovely time at your restaurant. Thank you for such a wonderful service, the owner, the serves, the DJ everybody was nice! Truly my go to restaurant now !
One of the best griot Ive ever eaten! Glued rice is delicious, however, very meager portion of rice on delivery; (I love encouraging a restaurant but if the quantity and price dont match, it becomes disappointing...
Cozy, great food, family owned business, amazing experience.
Its a pretty small place, so Id recommend you come early since almost all the tables were reserved. Food was pretty good, not exceptional. Griyo (pork) was sooooo dry. But the grilled chicken, rice and accara were all good. A bit expensive for how small portions are. Drinks were nothing special unfortunately. And again, expensive. Glad we tried it, but nothing is tempting me back.
Small, unpretentious place where you are wonderfully welcomed by the owner who is extremely attentive to his customers. The menu is small but it contains the greatest classics of Creole food that are generally found. CONQUERED. Thats the word I find to explain how delicious the food is! Its as good as a home-cooked meal and theres no exaggeration in what Im saying! The owner was also very keen to know what we thought of his cuisine. Ive tried some griots in my life but this is definitely where Ill come back next time and for the rest of my life. Its made with love and it shows! In addition, the prices are really fair and the portions are generous... in short, if you are hesitant to try I highly recommend it! Thanks again Akim :) Im going to go have lunch with my doggy bag from yesterday ahah
The The food I could eat was delicious! The food I couldnt eat looked and smelled delicious. The waitress was helpful and personable. The environment was festive and welcoming. Food : 5/5 |
The food is really delicious, the taste is amazing. They make sure everyone can have a good experience. Im usually strict with the meals I can cook, but they were able to surprise me. The flavors were there. We went on a very busy Friday evening, with a baby, it was an unplanned stop, we were in the neighborhood, but the staff made us comfortable, they found us a place. They know how to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, I observed a group of people who showed up, there seemed to be a mistake with the reservation and they found a way to seat everyone. The experience is worth the detour and if you cant go sit down and eat then take the time to take away you wont be disappointed.
Super cute spot, fun music, food was great. Would recommend for sure!
Wow, great discovery on a Thursday evening. The tasting menu allows us to taste almost the entire menu. The waiter wow the waitress cocktails wow the improvised shooters were delicious. In addition to natural organic wine which is not found everywhere and at 30%. Amazing music Our experience at the bar was very pleasant. You will definitely see us again soon. * Hit for the goat, except that we would have added the griot sauce with it . Oh and the kale salad, big favorite
Vegan options are AMAZING. I always get the veggie bowl, remove the aioli, add extra guacamole. A side of plantain, fries and extra pikliz! SO GOOD! The drinks are really good too. The place is very cute and homey. The staff is always super welcoming. The owner is always on site to welcome customers and ensure they re enjoying their experience. Highly recommend.
My date was suffering cramps throughout the day, but the food was so good it miraculously cured her! Coupled with a beautiful atmosphere celebrating Haitian culture, from decor to music, and a staff who are polite, thoughtful, and able to crack jokes comfortably, this is a place to remember and return to. Parking: There is 60 minute parking right out front and a few other streets with parking on the corner or within walking distance; it should be easy to find a spot.
Love this place. Certainly not your traditional haïtien casse-croûte but I love the ambiance. It feels like a place you go to when you are overseas. The griot is different, less fatty for sure, they made that choice, but the flavours are there. The portions are well balanced too and I m always discovering new drinks. You should definitely come here for a good casual time :)
Best non-regular poutine in MTL.
Absolutely FKN incredible
After many, many attempts over the span of two years to visit @pikliz we finally made it! It was definitely worth the wait as we got to sample their newly created cocktail menu. Decorated with alluring colours, big plants/vines, interesting paintings and a whole bunch of personal pictures that give it that extra warm, welcoming and genuine vibe. The same energy radiates from the owners, who upon meeting, youll feel like youve known for years. Rooted in influences passed down by family (say it with the Vin Diesel voice) every dish is meticulously created and thought out in detail. Its clear their goal is to show us the full beauty of their cuisine. We tried a lot and all of it was wonderful. Exquisitely cooked, tender, juicy meat, delcious crispy shrimp, even crisper plantain chips... It goes on. We cant really explain in writing how much we enjoyed ourselves but we strongly encourage you to go and see for yourselves.
Taste spectacular!
The service was impeccable. I felt like I was welcome. Although its a little far from home, Ill definitely go back.
Thank you so much for the dining experience, a variety of dishes cooked with lots of flavor and joy, its like eating in the Caribbean!
First experience for a dinner with friends even though the restaurant is far from us and is on the opposite side, it was worth the detour! - tasty food, reasonable portions (wings, akra, plantains, guac were my favorites ) and drinks - Nice atmosphere and music - Customer service from the owner of location A1 In short, I recommend you without hesitation and I will definitely return Good bagay!
Finally Haitian cuisine in its best version!! I have tried lots of Haitian restaurants in Mtl and this is by far my favorite!! Good success
Its been a long time since we ate in such an excellent restaurant! The value for money, the spicy flavors, the relaxed atmosphere, the super pleasant music and the relaxed and warm service at the same time; it was perfect. Everything was delicious but we really liked the hibiscus lemonade and the shrimp (shwimps). Little extra: we left the bottle of water on the table to refill and it was cold (not tablet). It may seem trivial but with the intense heat of the last few days, its really appreciated! We will definitely go back, thank you very much!
Very rude owner and disorder restaurant.I never ever come to this restaurant again. NEVER, I have video if you want i can send you by email to better understanding what kind of behavior they had with me.
One of the best Haitian restaurants in Montreal. The presentation of the food was great, not to mention the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff.
Epic food and service ! Never had Haitian food before and I was blown away! Wow must try! Food : 5/5
Great haitian flavored restaurant! The accra are the authentic Haitian recipe. The Griot poutine is delicious and well balanced. The griot plattet is tasty and real haitian style. The owners are friendly. Cool casual reataurant!
We recently visited Pikliz Haitian Restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. Despite the limited space, the atmosphere was friendly and the decor added an authentic touch. The Haitian dishes were delicious and well presented, with generous portions. Although some errors were made in the service, they were forgivable given the busyness. The only downside was the noise when the restaurant was full. Overall, we highly recommend Pikliz for its flavorful and authentic Haitian cuisine.
I could easily eat their food everyday for the rest of my life and be very satisfied. Everything about this place is perfect!
We were there with my boyfriend on recommendation and it was a great experience. We loved the food, the service. Everything was top notch and my boyfriend finished his plate for the first time. We will definitely come back, very often!
Best griot I ate so far ! Great place n vibe
Amazing restaurant to discover Haitian cuisine! The staff is welcoming and friendly, and the food (and vibe) never disappoints. Catering/take-out options are available and suitable for groups as well :) A must if youre in the area
I went there with a friend and we loved it! We tasted beef puffs, shwimps, accras, kabrit as well as sticky rice and bannanns. The atmosphere and the menu really transported us to the Caribbean. The food was very good and affordable not to mention the cocktails. The waitress was very beautiful and kind. We loved everything, right down to the decoration!
What a good restaurant! Amazing atmosphere and food. Thank you for the welcome, definitely worth trying!!!
Generous portions! Griyo tender and tasty! Everything is perfect, from the decor to the service! I recommend without a doubt!
A casual atmosphere Attentive service The salad was divine! The beef pâté was well garnished and its flakiness was perfect! I really liked the presentation of this entry. The portions are generous. We really enjoyed discovering certain natural wines. We will definitely return!
UPDATE: The owner of the restaurant got in touch with me and showed a real concern for what happened. Im happy with his response and Im changing my review to reflect this.
Their food is very flavourful and is very pleasing to the palate
Amazing place, great food, service A1! Best Haitian gastronomy in Montreal.
Love the place. First time and not the last. Ambiance, music, food and service 10/10. I highly recommend.
Delicious
Seriously, its worth the detour. Ive had some Haitian restaurants, and this is undoubtedly the best. Just a little advice to the owner, dont change your winning recipe. The price, quality, quantity are there. Maybe enlarge the space and the menu maybe? In short, well done.
Don t be fool with the reviews. One thing the griyo meat was 10/10. However, everything is an extra ( sauce, plantin, macaronis, pikliz) and for half the price I ve had far better The extra for the sauce was ridiculous, I had approx 2 table spoon of sauce.. not enough to coat the meat nor the rice and the rice was not it, not flavourful. Sadly I would no recommend.
Best meal we ve had in AGES. What an exciting restaurant. From the vibe to the service to the absolutely delicious food!
I m a true Haitian so I always try to find spots that has good Haitian food. Pikliz definitely hit the spot! Their kabrit is amazing. 10/10 recommend! Also we re from Edmonton so I was really happy to find that place
Food is really good! But i really dont think the prices are worth the portion sizes. I basically got a kids portion for 23$. Higher end restaurants even have bigger portions
Very cute and quaint restaurant. Owner greeted us with a smile and a story, we ordered multiple appetizers, goat plate & grio poutine. Everything was delicious. The owner suggested we try the pear soda and grapefruit soda which were both excellent . The service was exceptional. We will definitely go back.
Delicious food at a reasonable price, loved the DJ there too. It s a small place but didn t feel cramped; it feels very intimate. The poulet frit and riz colé were delicious. Definitely will be back!
First time trying Haitian food!! It was so amazing and delicious :) The staff were super nice too - highly recommend this place for any foodie Vegetarian options: There was one veggie bowl I super enjoyed and some appetizers that were also veggie friendly
The service was really pleasant, the decor and music are original and it makes the experience incredible. The sticky rice was my favorite, I recommend it
My only regret about this place is that I didn t sit down to eat (got take out). It s a small, cozy place that is well arranged so that couples and groups can fit comfortably. Decor is really nice, music is great but not too loud. The food, by the way, was REALLY good. Takeout portions were enough for 2 people to eat until full for 2 days. Could have easily stretched it to 3 if we wanted. Very tasty. Best of all was the customer service, and that s saying a lot, because I only got take out. They took the time to ask me my name (order had only a number, no reference to my name) so that they could write it on the bag for me and call me by my name instead of a number. They were very friendly and seemed to be intuitively attentive to the needs of their patrons. Go ahead and see for yourself. I can t wait to go back already.
The vegetarian plate is delicious and the quantities are very good for the price!
Literally the best service & the best food. I had the griot, rice, plantain & shrimp. The shrimp were my favourite! The lemonade was fantastic and the girls working offered excellent custom service. Perfect family owned restaurant - tables were set nice and a great breeze!
I had the most amazing time at Pikliz, a small Haitian spot in St-Henry. Its like they airlifted a piece of the Caribbean right into the city! The vibes, decor, and those mouthwatering smells totally set the scene. The service was top-notch, and the staff were super friendly. Akim, the owner, personally checked on every table, making the whole experience feel extra special. We went there to celebrate a birthday, and they treated us like kings and queens. Now, lets talk about the food. I ordered the Griot, and let me tell you, it was off the charts. So juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. And then theres the Kabrit, the goat dish. It was hands down the best goat Ive ever had in my life. To finish off the feast, we had the pineapple cake, and Im still dreaming about it. If youre in Montreal and craving some legit Haitian eats, Pikliz is the spot to hit. Its the perfect combo of awesome food, chill vibes, and friendly service thatll make your night unforgettable.
Excellent in every way... Can we go ahead and say that this is the best meal / restaurant (overall speaking) of Caribbean food in Montreal... A killer! I have some takeaway dishes that Im already dreaming of for this afternoon ;-) Keep up your excellent work...
amazing I recommend it to everybody everything was right 10 stars not 5
Best restaurant in Montreal. Nothing to add!
The food was A+ . It was made to order so everything was hot, fresh, and tasty . The drinks were good - and the shots got us right. Now, let me tell y all something - those women in the back probably married/wife s up because they put their foot in the lamb and rice. That rice was moist and chicken was seasoned perfect. Add the side of sauce , it babbbyyy my belly and heart left happy and fulfilled . Akim (restaurant owner) was there & he provided exceptional customer service to all patrons. I loved the restaurants ambiance. It gave what it was supposed to give. to Akim and his team. Instagram/tick tock users the restaurant has lots of backgrounds for photos . Go support this black owned business.
Overall, the taste and flavour were decent, the meat was a bit dried and every side food usually within the dish costed extra when included in most places. The dish (griyo) only had the meat and the pikliz. Be aware that plantin, ricole, salad, macaroni is sold and charged separately so food is overpriced. My kid loves griyo but definitely prefers to go to our usual griyo place from now on. Please note that any restaurant should know that not only the food or taste matters but the whole experience from entering the business (welcoming, friendliness, atmosphere, clean space, waiting, etc) to the end. Kid-friendliness: Adults with kids are welcome to wait inside for their order
Despite the numerous good reviews, I was surprised at my takeout order. The salad had no dressing, and the pork was so dry it was barely edible. It must have been an off night.
Little treasure in front of the St-Henri metro station. Music, atmosphere, drinks, and flavors, it s all there! Shot of
First and last time in this restaurant. The griot was very dry, the plantains inedible, the rice ordinary. Only the macaroni was on the mark. When it was time to pay, what was my great surprise, and that of my family who accompanied me, to hear the waitress tell us that a 20% tip was required from each guest (there were 6 of us). The reason given? It s mandatory for groups, because some people only tip $4 on large bills. » My sister questioned the legality of such a practice and made it clear that we would not comply with this requirement, tipping is normally left to the discretion of the customer. What followed was an exchange with employees, including a cook who made these inappropriate comments: We have to encourage the community. Are you not able to pay a 20% tip? Amazing... The owner took the time to call the person in our group who had made the reservation to apologize. But the damage is done. We will not set foot in a restaurant that treats its customers in such a cavalier manner.
Little family trip to Pikliz this evening. The starters were excellent. The main meal was not up to par: dry griot, rice sauce a little too salty, plantains not fresh, poutine with an unpleasant aftertaste. The macaroni was very good. The dessert, pineapple upside down cake, was not fresh. Despite everything, I was satisfied with my evening, happy to have spent a good time with my family in a restaurant with Caribbean flavors...until the waitress gave us our respective bills and DEMANDING a MINIMUM 20% tip. Stunned, I ask why and she replies: It s mandatory for groups (there were 6 of us), because some people only tip $4 on big bills. » I questioned the legality of such a practice and made it clear that this would not happen. That if I considered the service and the quality of the food to be appreciable, I would give what I think is fair. Note that the service was not the best, but it was ok, as they are young people and considering the labor shortage, indulgence is in order (there were things missing from our order, error on a bill). The waitress then came back saying we could give whatever we wanted. Subsequently, someone in my group spoke to the cook regarding this questionable practice. To which the cook replied: You have to encourage community. Are you unable to pay a 20% tip? . I think this speaks for itself. I then received a call from the owner. He apologized and said it was a mistake. That the 20% was for groups of 15 and more and that this was told to them in advance. He very professionally offered my entire group to eat for free at his restaurant during a future visit. Thank you for that. But we will pass our turn. I dont know if this was really an honest mistake. Even if this is the case, I found the comments and the attitude of the cook to be rude and the end of this evening left me with a very bitter taste. I will not return to this restaurant and I hope this review will encourage the staff to pay more attention to their customers. I understand that you sometimes encounter dishonest customers, but putting everyone in the same basket and making derogatory comments means very little to me. Thanks again to the owner who took the trouble to call me back.
Great food, great vibe and great service!
Such a full experience in every way. Amazing, tender wonderfully seasoned tasteful pork, and chicken! The rice you gotta have the rice, the plantain chips and the fresh guacamole (with a light integrated sprinkling of lemon) and be sure to save room for the pineapple upside down cake! A small and buzzing atmosphere. I will be back!!
The atmosphere of the restaurant and the decoration are really beautiful. The service was good, the employees were friendly. The end of the service was a little dry and quick, but we really stayed in the restaurant for a very long time chatting with friends. As for the food, it was ok. This is a great discovery for people who are not familiar with Haitian food. However, the taste was not exceptional and some side dishes were too expensive for their quantity, for example, the pezé bananas which were also much too cooked for my taste. However, I recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants to discover Haitian cuisine.
Small, welcoming restaurant, the servers are attentive, a nice selection of natural wines (the primary reason for my visit), very well prepared food, a lovely atmosphere. It s an upgrade from the usual Creole snacks. I really liked the sticky rice, the sauce, the Lakaye salad, the bananas. But everything is good! I recommend!!
This was truly delicious. The pikliz is so good we could eat it with a spoon. 10/10 will be back. We had the griyo, the goat, wangs, both salads, rice, plantain and a pitcher of the tequila punch. So so good.
Very good restaurant inspired by Haiti according to the owners description. Very warm welcome, I felt as if I was welcomed by relatives. Its very small and we were alone in the middle of the afternoon so the atmosphere was very intimate, in the very warm decor which transports us to the West Indies. Very reasonable prices and generous portions. The grande griot poutine in particular is gigantic and delicious, topped with homemade pikliz. The pâtés (tried the cod one) are authentic. Really good Haitian cuisine. The cabrit, the shrimp, everything was very popular with the guests. The service was very cheerful and friendly, very attentive. We feel the seriousness of the place, in the kitchen and in the dining room. For example, here forget the 4 year old Barbancourt, its the 8 year old that you will enjoy instead.
Lots of heart in their food, relaxed vibe and super friendly people. Nice tight menu that has something for everyone. Feels like I m kicking it at my parents place, having a plate of food I couldn t get anywhere else. Owner took some time to see how we were enjoying everything and a little history on the restaurant.
My uncle was not sure he wanted to go there for his birthday. However I convinced him to go until now he is asking when are we going back. the food was so good and we didn t took pictures. One of the thing that my uncle said reminded him a lot of Haiti was papita and he keep asking me do I think Piklìz is selling the papita by itself. the owner did have a conversation with my uncle and he was happy about it. Will definitely go back.
Pìkliz is a mixture of coquetry, good-naturedness and intimacy. A gastronomic nest. I particularly like the chicken wings, the kabrit as well as the accras, their lakay salad. Their pâtés are generous in stuffing. And what about their flavored cocktails: Ti solèy is the best, in my opinion. Thank you Akim for the warm and friendly welcome, it is priceless.
You will receive a warm welcome at Pikliz restaurant, beautiful place, very appetizing food. The pride of Haiti
Firstly, no West Indian restaurant offers such a service, the staff is really welcoming. Secondly the food is impeccable and a good quantity for mr unbutton. To finish, a great atmosphere which gives a feeling of being on vacation in the Antilles!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Excellent food, cute restaurant, great ambiance and really kind staff!
The schwinps & Poutine au kabrit was to die for, never knew that was the kind of poutine I was craving for.
One of my new favorite restaurants! Excellent food. Excellent service. Delicious cocktails. Warm atmosphere.
The food and the atmosphere are really excellent, thats why I come back like ex couples and fiends who have needed their drugs since even before covid
Delicious. Ordered a couple times on Uber eats and also ate in person at the restaurant. Really fantastic. My only comment is to please give us more pikliz with online orders the little cup is so tiny. The cup the size of the gravy would be perfect <3
