This is the most white people Indian food I've ever had. I'm talking 'Midwestern retired boomer with a house on Florida' white. Absolutely no flavour, no complexity, no spice. Hospital food. The presentation is good, but the pictures for the lunch menu lie to you as they show the main dish being the larger plate, while on delivery it's on the smaller side, way smaller than the rice. So, it's basically a side dish. I'm not complaining about the spiciness levels, I understand why it would be mid being in Canada, I prefer mid personally too. But, Indian food is not about the hotness, but the complex flavours, mixing and elevating each other in the curry. There was none of that. It was like a tomato soup but even that is acidic. I could not taste any of the spices, where was the cardamom, where was the turmeric? I tried two curries, couldn't tell them apart. No depth at all. I feel like getting a COVID test after eating there, just in case it's me. The vegetable side dishes were overall better than the main dish. The naan was fine, but a bit undercooked. Never coming back.
The beautifully decorated Indo-Pakistani, BYOW, restaurant is located in the heart of the Plateau, on Rachel. First, the decor is stunning, the choice of colors, the bar, the wall art...everything is well thought out. We were greeted by the lovely owner who served us a feast. They do not serve alcohol but their non-alcoholic drinks will make you forget alcohol! We got the Mango Virgin Mojito, which was absolutely AMAZING, and the Iced Caramel Chaï Latte, which was perfect! We highly recommend their drinks! We also got to try their famous lunch thali (they have veg or non-veg) which is served only from Wednesday to Sunday (11:30 - 16:00). The thali is so complete, with an appetizer, your choice of main curry, 2 veggie curries, rice, naan, and a dessert. Then we got a few dishes; - Paneer Tikka - Chicken Kebab Masala (MY FAVE!) - Haleem Beef - Chicken Vindaloo We finished the meal with a Cardamom Crème Brûlée and an Almond Kulfi. We highly recommend trying out this place! The food is exquisite!
Great Indian restaurant with big portions. They have bring your own wine concept, it's a great restaurant for celebrations as well. Ask a smiley waitress for suggestions of the food. :)
This is one of the best in town. I loved all the dishes. The Owner Hafsa is so kind and helpful. All the staff were great and i will definitely visit this place again. The ambience is very fancy and beautiful. Highly recommend this place.. must try :Kulfi , Brownie , veg korma, paneer pakoda, Biryani, garlic Naan, mango majito, mango Lassi, Gobi 65
Everything here deserves 5 stars—food, service, and ambiance! The food was incredibly fresh, with impeccable taste, and the presentation was flawless. The servers were some of the kindest and most attentive I’ve ever encountered. The atmosphere is cozy yet intriguing, with a thoughtful interior design that adds to the overall experience. This has quickly become one of my favorite Pakistani/Indian restaurants in Montreal. I’ll definitely be returning!
Amber exceeded our expectations with its beautiful ambiance, excellent food, and top-notch service. The restaurant’s decor is stunning, creating a lovely atmosphere for a meal. We tried the biriyani, which was very tasty, and the paneer pakoda, which was decent. They also didn't have the dessert I wanted, and to our surprise, they offered us a complimentary dessert as well. The desserts can never go wrong. The service was smooth and attentive, enhancing our dining experience. Although the prices are on the higher end, the quality of the food justifies the cost. Overall, Amber is definitely worth a visit for a delightful and satisfying meal.
It's a very cute place, especially during summer if you get to sit at the open window. I've been to this place twice and the food tasted differently between lunch and dinner. Beef, lamb dishes seemed to miss spice both times. Paneer in the spinach souse was delicious. Service during lunch was low level. Even though I was the only person it took me 15 minutes to get the waitress to get me a bill. Service during the evening was much nicer. A different lady (I think Francesca) was extremely helpful in describing dishes and her availability in the room.
This is one of my go to restaurants for Pakistani dishes. Each dishes are very well seasoned and so delicious. We usually order 4 to 6 plates that we can share. Service is always good and kind. Prices are very reasonable as well as the portions. It is best to reserve in advance on weekends. Can’t wait to go back again.
REALLY VERY GOOD
Halal food, great service, Friendly behavior Best food Food : 5/5 |
Generous portions and good quality dish. A great bring your own wine.
Impeccable service with the staff last night. We were also generously well served, always with a smile. THANKS !
bbq platter was uncooked the beef was uncooked you could not even chew it.
We came to dine in this restaurant on the occasion of a friends departure, honestly the dishes were good however the waitress who took care of us was extremely unpleasant and almost put pressure on us to leave the restaurant. restaurant on time while there were still people on other tables. She spent her evening reminding us of the closing time, even at the start of the meal. I do not recommend this restaurant for a meeting with friends but rather for a dinner as a couple.
Great place/location. Food was absolutely delicious. From the Naan bread to chicken tiki masala, samosa to saag paneer. Portions were perfect and enough for us to share (2 people) and it was very affordable. It s also a byow. Service and ambiance was amazing. Can t wait to go back!
I ve been going to Amber for the past years and have always loved the food and atmosphere. It s been one of my favourite spots because of its consistent quality, and I ve also appreciated that it s BYOW . Unfortunately, my visit last night was very disappointing. The food didn t live up to its usual standards, especially the chicken it was dry, poorly cleaned, and had small bones throughout. It felt rushed and lacked the care I ve come to expect from this place. I really hope this was just an off night cause it has always been a reliable favourite of mine
Unfortunately, as soon as we arrived we were told that we would have to vacate the table 2 hours later. I pointed out that this was not indicated on the reservation site, but that didnt change anything. Unfortunately, we didnt plan to be in a hurry, which put a big damper on our evening. Otherwise everything is ok for the rest.
Great atmosphere, perfect service from the waitress Mila, very nice, very warm. The kitchen even better. Nothing to say, it was perfect. I highly recommend!!!
We live in St-Anicet, 1:40 from the restaurant and when we want to eat good Indian cuisine, we dont mind making the trip at all. Always succulent thank you Marco Caza
Nice Indian restaurant on the plateau, the cuisine was not very authentic but the dishes were very good. Thanks to Mila for the excellent service
Vegetarian options: Perfect ! Parking: Anticipate the time to park
Delicious, beautiful restaurant, fast, good service, affordable price, I recommend.
The service was perfect. The two waitresses (Milla and Emma) were very efficient and smiling. The food lacked a little taste and above all there was no heating. Otherwise, we had a great time.
Nice experience
It was our first visit here. We were a group of 4. We all really enjoyed the experience, food, presentation, service and the ambiance- Byow is a plus. Excellent Air quality as compare to other restaurants with similar menu.
Great place to chill with friends and have your own wine. Food was good but not authentic Indian or Pakistani. But must try once. Server where nice and friendly.
Great ambiance and very nice service. The wait on the food was kinda long and what we got in the end was quite sub par. It was all lukewarm and not particularly well spiced (that is to say that we were expecting more punch)
I tried the butter chicken and it was truly amazing. The place is very nice and allows you to bring your own wine
Super! Food
Excellent service
The food is good enough but not spicy at all. And the hot sauces are Indonesian/Thai. Was tasty and you can byow, but it didn t taste very authentic.
Its a nice place with ambience and good service. The food however lacked spices and rich flavors. I was surprised given the rave reviews. We tried various appetizers and dishes with lamb, beef, paneer in different sauces. I do love Indian food and have been to great Indian places so maybe my expectations are unfair.
Randomly searched for the place and it looked really yummy. To add on to everything, the atmosphere and servers were great. Our waitress Florence was so funny, lovely and super attentive. The way she handled tables and helped with our recommended dishes was fantastic. The food was sooo tasty and combined perfectly. Thanks for the amazing food and night AMBER & Florence
Paul was our waiter and he was respective and friendly
UPDATE: It has been many years and many more visits to Amber since I wrote my original review (below)... And still I feel compelled to add that Amber is more than a spectacular Indian/Pakistani restaurant. It is more than its fantastic food. Amber is... well... a (and yes, I know how silly this sounds... *smile*) a happiness experience! The staff, the decor, the insanely perfect food... Again we left the restaurant so content and... happy! ORIGINAL: We tried to walk by this restaurant on our way home last week, but the food, the spicey smells, forced me back to the open window. We made a reservation for last Saturday night and... wow... Perfection. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in this area, but the quality and flavours and... everything here excelled. The one other bonus? The staff. They too were the best! Thanks to you Amber for a really great evening! See you again soon! *************************************** Seven months later, and... OMG!!! We have been traveling, and... We finally went again!! For the umpteenth time!! *smile* This time? Still amazing! I was a volunteer in Himachal Pradesh, and had the amazingly good fortune to (literally) live on Auntijis incredible cooking. So, needless to say, I am incredibly spoiled... But Amber? It absolutely blew me away again... AGAIN! This is fabulous Indian cuisine. Seriously fabulous. The ONLY thing to come close to rivaling the food is the service. The staff are so wonder-full... Ive been so fortunate as to have travelled in India a few times, and still... Amber is a how do I stop myself from going there again? restaurant. Seriously check it out. You will not be sorry! *smile*
Very nice place, excellent food, impeccable service. We will return.
A bit disappointed by the food and service here. We were looking for an Indian bring your own wine with good atmosphere for our anniversary. When we made a reservation and said it was our anniversary, they sounded excited to plan something for us. Unfortunately when we got there, there was nothing special done and the food was very average. Many of the dishes lacked flavour and we could have had a much tastier and cheaper meal elsewhere. The Chana masala was not good. We had to chase after our server to get water and then our bill (based on other reviews, I can only assume this is not normal for them and that it could have been their way of giving us our own space on our anniversary). We had fun because we were together but we won t be going back.
Went last friday with my girlfriend, the lamb korma that the waitress recommended was great! waitress created a very hospitable atmosphere and answered all our questions very clearly. love this place!
Wonderful food, service and ambiance!
We were 3 and due to a large group next to us, it was loud and not as pleasant as previous times and food was not as good as usual. We were also rushed out. She did not offer dessert or coffee.
Bland dishes, slow service, and no responsiveness. We received a mixed grill dish with tough, raw meat, with no gesture or replacement offered. Butter chicken was bland Very disappointing for the price
Food is fantastic and so worth the drive from the West Island
Found this cozy restaurant perfect, although from my location it is far but worht the drive. We tried an array of veg and non-veg entrees and main course and loved them all. the naan breads were hot and fresh and portions were very good.
Excellent food and very fast service
Delicious, generous portions! The service was very fast, and everything was perfect!
Its so good!!! The waitress was amazing also thanks to her for the excellent experience! xxxx
Vegetarian options: Lots of options Food
Always on top! A chic and warm restaurant, attentive staff the prices and portions are very affordable! Thank you Amber for giving us wonderful experiences!
Excellent restaurant bring your own wine. The food is delicious and the dishes are hearty, full of vegetarian and even vegan options. The service was impeccable. Really a great evening to do again!
Food very very good.. And the waters behaviour so good. Service very fast ... Thanku so much Amber I was coming there with by girlfriend.. We both full enjoy their.. Very soon I am coming there.... Again thanks
Food was great, although the butter chicken was only ok. Service was terrific. Unfortunately, there was a table of 8 people who had brought a lot of wine making an unbelievable racket, we had to eat quickly and leave because we literally werent able to hear each other speak. Still giving a 4 for atmosphere because it would have been very nice without that table of selfish morons. The wait staff was professional and apologetic for the noise, and the beef curry, bhaji, and traditional naan were amazing. Recommended unless theres a loud group near you.
Came here for a bachelor. Food came really fast, food was impeccable. Would definetely reccomend if you re in the neighbourhood.
Thanks for the table of five next to us, it was really nice
Very good
Thanks a lot to our waitress and the vibes was really good, thanks to the table of 5 that was really fun
Excellent restaurant, the food is amazing. Affordable price.
Totally satisfied with this place. Enjoyed the food, the service was excellent and all in a very nice space.
Fresh, tasty, good portion and excellent service
Very good dishes, tasty and in good quantity. Fair prices for the quality. Pleasant service. The only negative point is that the room is very very noisy.
Never disappointed, it s my go-to Indian in Montreal!
Lovely staff !! The food is very good for the price as well. We had the Butter Chicken and the Lamb Curry. The unlimited rice and bring your own wine are great added bonuses. Well come back !
Such an incredible place, great food, ambiance and excellent service!!
I went here a couple nights ago with my girlfriend, and we loved this place! The food was delicious & the ambiance was phenomenal. Our server was very kind as well. This spot is now one of our favorites. Definitely recommend!
The butter chicken lamb vindaloo was mouth watering. amazing staff as well.
I dont have the words to say how much I LOVE this restaurant! For 2 years, Amber has become my comfort food restaurant par excellence; I cant even say how many times Ive ordered food from them. Always the same combo and never disappointed: chicken tikka, dahl soup, cheese nan. Thank you for existing P.S: I dream of having a loyalty card and obviously one day I would go there to test the experience!
Loved my experience. The restaurant is very nice and clean. The decor is top notch and the staff is very friendly. The prices are also very, very reasonable. I will go back with more people.
perfect in every way copious inexpensive fast and delicious service
We just had lunch at Amber, and it was such a lovely experience that I had to share. From the moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed by a cozy, inviting atmosphere. But what really made our day special was the incredible service we received from our server Afsa. Also, portioning for their food is really good.
Excellent food....definitely one of the best service we have experienced for a long time! And the owners personal touch made all the difference. Loved the food and the service Food
Excellent food with the best service . The staff was very friendly....food preparation was excellent. And the owners personal touch made al the difference. Loved our family dinner at amber
We went to Amber, the ambience / wall art are so pleasing, The food was yum highly recommended it!! The morrocon lady ( owner) plus the lady who took our order were so warm and such a delight to interact with, there was attention to detail that comes only when the team is really good. Vegetarian options: Dal makhnani was superrrr
We love this restaurant. We return there regularly because the prices are affordable for the quality of the meals offered. Plus, its bring your own wine and the service is always impeccable!
One of the best Indo-Pasquistanais in Montreal.
Excellent food!!!! This place was a great surprise!!! We asked for recommendations since we are not so familiar with this kind of food but everything was really good!!!
The place is exquisite. Food atmosphere and service, everything was great..The taste was definitely good but the way they presented made it more tempting plus the service and friendly behavior of the owner Madam Hafza made me a fan of hers. We really enjoyed the visit and wish her all the best.
Would come again. Great veggie options. Loves the sesame naan
The best Pakistani and Indian cuisine in Montreal!! The service is impeccable and the prices are really affordable!!!
For me, the food lacked flavor; the nan, to my taste, had no taste. We ordered lamb, chicken and the starter was eggplant salad . If I go back to eat Indian cuisine, I would go to Cote de Naige. Regarding the service, I understand that the waitresses might have been busy, but they were very inattentive and went out to smoke or rest outside, leaving only one person to take care of the service with the whole restaurant full We still had plates and dishes on the table etc. Maybe I was unlucky.
Yesterday I discovered Amber restaurant and was impressed by the quality. The service was remarkable and the dishes tasty, especially the grilled meats: a mixture of chicken, lamb and beef. The atmosphere was very pleasant. I cant wait to come back!
Lovely Food. I had the non-vegetarian thali, and I must say it was one of the best thalis I ve eaten. Very delicious, and the service was excellent. The lady who served me helped me choose the choice of my curry and also helped me replace one of the curry s with another, because of which I relished both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian spread. A must try restaurant
Excellent service and meal
I used the delivery service and ordered the meat combo for 2 people and lentil soup. The portions are not generous at all. Then, as for the food, the butter chicken is fatty and the sauce tasteless while the lamb dish is very sweet and the pieces have a lot of fat. The rice is cold and the naan bread is not seasoned. As for the soup, it speaks for itself. The only positive point was that the UBER delivery man, Sofiane, was smiling and attentive. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
Pa male
I believe Amber offers the best overall experience for Indian/Pakistani food. The decor is sleek, offering what appears to be a vast dining area. The service on my last 3 visits has been pleasant is all aspects. On my last two visits I ordered the lamb biryani along with the saag paneer and bartha. In my book you can judge the quality of the establishment by its Biryani, Ambers biryani is delicious. The rice isnt oily, there are just enough nuts and dried fruit along with a well balanced spice mix. The lamb (a generous portion) is succulent The rest of the dishes were also well spiced although I prefer the eggplant to be more present in flavour. The service is great My favourite place and to boot my dining partner will only eat Indian/Pakistani food at Amber.
Nice discovery, our waitress was excellent and very nice. Food was very good and very generous portion!
Very good Indian restaurant. The dishes are plentiful and good. The welcome is great. The restaurant is very clean and airy. The toilets are super clean. The service is fast. Paid parking along the street.
Great experience at Amber this Thursday evening with my friends! The food was delicious, I highly recommend the mutter paneer, tandoori chicken and cheeze naan. The service was incredible too, we were very well received by Valentina. We will come back!!
Best Indian/Pakistani restaurant on the plateau! The atmosphere is great, the service is great and the dishes are tasty. The butter chicken, mutter paner and veggie korma are our favorites.
Excellent cuisine. And great service. I highly recommend
Food, seating and the vibes were excellent. But I cant rate it higher due to the horrible location. There is next to no parking and what little there is, is marked vaguely. We got a 200$ ticket.
High quality food. Excellent presentation. Pleasant server. Good value for the money. Best tally in town. Stay in or take out. Lovely view of Rachel Street and the bustling neighborhood. And bonus, bring your own wine or beer.
Finally a good Indian restaurant with beautiful decor and excellent service! Thank you we will be back soon
Delicious and impeccable service! I will go back there!
Absolutely delicious! The butter chicken and lamb korma are amazing! Truly, it s a must for Indian/Pakistani cuisine in Montreal. Were going back there for sure! The portions are generous and well proportioned.
There was only one server at the restaurant, it was packed and she did the best she could, she was host server and making us drinks as well. She was very accommodating as a few table stayed passed the restaurants closing time. Food was delicious, portions are good but I recommend one plate per person.
Very pleasant experience.
Items ordered: Midi Thaali(untill 4pm only weekdays), lamb biryani and lamb karahi and naans. Portions are very good. Bit more than 1 person can finish. Specially the thaali. Thaali has 1 non veg and 2 veg curries and comes with samosa, naan, rice, chutney and dessert. It was very good. Biryani was good this time, spice level was ordered very spicy and like we say in our language(paisa wasool +) means money was fully recovered in taste and pleasure. Same goes for lamb karahi ordered in very spicy level and is a plus in all taste and portion and enjoyment. authentic taste. Naans were big and awesome. So we loved everything and was satisfied. Very good and not at all expensive. Well done.
Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I were sick following our meal yesterday, severe indigestion. It s a shame because this restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and excellent service.
We are from Mississauga Ontario. A wonderful excellent Pakistani/Indian restaurant serves delicious food. We had chicken karahi, beef karahi, and chicken tikka boti. Meat was tender and exotic to the taste. Portions were generous. Salad and raita were very tasty. Anyone goes to Montreal must visit Amber Restaurant.
Ate there recently, the food is amazing, as a big fan of Indian food, this place didn t disappoint at all. I got the chicken tikka masala, with rice and got naan as well, while my family took the menu, with a whole lot of different kinds of food and we all loved it.
Its been a good ten times that weve been enjoying this great place, their food is incredible, the service just as much, thanks again to Marco and his colleague on Friday evening
Wow, a great restaurant, the food is excellent and the service impeccable. Go there, you wont regret it. Please, we want one in Quebec!
More than ordinary cuisine. Meat (lamb??) tough and full of tightness. The sauces are identical, sweet and very liquid, regardless of the dish chosen. The starters are just as ordinary. In short, this restaurant, already popular, has lost its splendor on the menu. The service, kind and accommodating.
The restaurant is nice. The staff is also very friendly, food presentation is good it looks delicious but the taste is below average. As an indian I didn t like the food-the flavours, spices everything was lacking bcoz I know how good indian food tastes like. Garlic naan was undercooked. Mango Mojito tasted more like mango juice. Tandoori roti is usually made of wheat but it tasted like they used all purpose flour instead. The food tasted bland I m not saying this on the level of but on the basis of richness of flavours. Even though they have rating of 4.4 maybe bcoz they have more of white customers but this is not how u present the traditional food to them. They came there to enjoy indian/Pakistani food but they don t know how more delicious it can be.
I usually dont want to give negative reviews but I spent $30 with no proper ac bad reception and above all really tasteless and beyond bad food. I think Montreal is cursed when it comes to Indian food. No restaurant is good but this one deserves the second rank from the bottom. Worst indian restaurant after chatpata.
The restaurant is really beautiful and the service is very good, but we were quite disappointed with the taste of the dishes. The quantity was OK, but it really lacked flavor, especially for typically Indian dishes like chicken tikka masala and butter chicken... Quite bland and well overcooked chicken.
At the top
Third time with Amber (and yet I live in Ottawa) and always great satisfaction. I m introducing this restaurant to my Montreal acquaintances! !!
The service and the atmosphere was truly amazing. The front staff were friendly and accommodating, and were gladly able to respond to any of our questions. The service was fairly quick, even when their busy. I will recommend trying out the saag paneer with a side of rice, which was creamy and full of flavors. The bengun had bursting flavors, especially the smokey taste since its made in the tandoor. In the meaty side, my absolute favorite were lamb korma, lamb karahi, saag shrimp and haleem beef. And lastly, our chicken biryani was well cooked, the combination of the spices, meat and the rice were perfectly balanced. I would highly recommend trying out this place. It is very affordable and all the dishes are well priced. My family and I enjoyed it a lot and we will come back again. Vegetarian options: They have a section with vegetarian options.
Don t take the chicken tikka masala, it was really subpar and definitely not worth 18$. The sauce was too liquid, and the chicken was dry on the inside. The rice was mid. Other dishes like the chicken curry seemed ok. This place is trying to appear fancy, and the decoration is good, but the quality of the food is not at the adequate level for the price.
What a great experience we had at this restaurant. Everything we had was really delicious, fresh and full of flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is in my top Indian restaurant in Montreal
Amazing food and amazing service! Would come back 100%, everything was great and everyone working here is very kind! Great value for food.
Friendly restaurant, a pleasant atmosphere and you eat there free of charge. A big thank you to the night team, especially to Hafsa (the owner of the place), very smiling and welcoming. I will come back to it soon. See you soon.
The kulfe reminded me of my childhood Everything is authentic and simran was so nice and helpful Food
We love this restaurant, Staff very friendly, food is great.
Délicieux! You can reliably judge an Indian restaurant just by the quality of its naan bread. And the dishes are just top notch. Refined yet authentic.
First time here, I must say it will not be the last. The food is sumptuous and bountiful. Highly recommend!
Service, atmosphere and food exceeded expectations. My wife and I are not fans of spicy food ... and Ambers spice level was perfect for us. Tasty yet not over spiced. Many unique dishes and ample portions. We will be back! Thank you for making us a great dinner!
Excellent meal at a very good price. The chicken korma is an absolute mystery have! Never, ever skip the garlic naan too.
Really Dissapointing. :( Lamb Korma was just okay-ish, Chicken Tikka Masala was simply tasteless, and Naan was burnt... They are much better Indian restaurants in Montreal, dont waste your money here. Food
Good location, good ambiance and tasty food
This restaurant is now one of our favorites in Montreal! The value for money is very good and the food is excellent. The atmosphere is cozy, I recommend it.
Very clean and beautiful restaurant. The dishes were excellent and the naans too! Saims service was amazing! My guests were 30 minutes late and she was lovely to us. Great waitress. I would 1000% recommend this restaurant again
The dishes are hearty and delicious! Good service!! (Butter chicken cooked to perfection )
I recently visited this restaurant and was extremely disappointed with both the food quality and service. I ordered the chicken curry to be spicy, but it was far from spicy and it s too bad. When I brought this to the kitchen staffs attention, they rudely informed me that they couldnt change it. This is unacceptable and not how you treat customers. Overall, the experience was terrible and I will not be returning. I hope they improve their food and customer service
What a disappointment. Worst Indian of my life. I dont recommend it at all.
The butter chicken + garlic naan: just excellent
Very nice culinary experience! The food is excellent, the portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. For my family and I, Amber has become one of our favorite restaurants! Plus, it s an AVV! Well done ! :-)
Excellent food, in 5 visits I have never been disappointed. The taste is consistent, the food arrives hot and well presented. The service is good, nothing more. The waiters/waitresses are there as needed but could be more present. This in no way prevents a pleasant experience at the restaurant. The value for money is very good. 3/4 meal portion for $75. Eating out has become a habit for us :) Dietary restrictions: Veggie, vegan dish
The restaurant itself is pretty, but the butter chicken is absolutely bland. Perhaps one of the worse Indian food experienced we had. In addition, the waitresses are not too friendly, feels like youre bothering them when youre asking questions. Youre much better off finding an actual authentic Indian restaurant on Jean Talon and save your money
Great discovery....good little dishes with lots of flavor. Be careful, some dishes are very, very spicy. A small downside for the service otherwise it was very pleasant.
Absolutely love this place! The food is so delicious and the prices are fair for what you get. Had the saag paneer, lamb vindaloo and the butter chicken. All were so amazing! Of course, the bring-your-own-wine makes this place even more worth it. The only downside is that the place is very noisy. Its fine for groups or casual dinner date but I wouldnt recommend the restaurant for a romantic dinner due to how loud it gets when its busy.
Nice interior. Platters are enough for one person. Tasty but less spicy
My experience at Amber Indian Restaurant was mixed. Unfortunately, the welcome was cold and the servers seemed unenthusiastic. The food was disappointing, lacking the flavor and spices characteristic of Indian cuisine.
Nice Restaurant
The service was amazing, the ambiance was great, and the food was a revelation. I was told the Pakistani take their biryani seriously and I was not disappointed. There was strings of fresh ginger in my dahl and the saag was impressive. It was all extremely tasty. Also a byow.
I ordered a delivery which was to arrive between 8:10 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., it arrived at 9 a.m., it was inedible because it was cold (cold Indian dishes are not good at all). I contacted the DoorDash delivery service, the experience was horrible, they almost hung up on me the first time, I insisted on speaking to another agent and then they offered me $5 for s excuse , I dont know if theres anything more insulting than that... in short, if you want to eat at Ambers, go to the restaurant, usually its good, but I dont recommend their very bad at all delivery service.
The lunch special was incredible, along with the iced chai. Great price for lunch. Our waitress was so sweet!
The food is good the service is very very very long plus two tables which arrived well after us were served before us!!!!! Service really leaves something to be desired!
yummy with kind and quick service at a good price! Vegetarian options: vegetarian/vegan section on the menu Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options
Food is not for as tasty and spicy. Its good if you like very mild food and not real indian spices.
Food is not appealing .. Food
A pearl of Montreal restaurants. I have been there several times, and have never been disappointed. An ideal restaurant for small groups (2-6 people); the menu is perfect for sharing several dishes. The atmosphere is warm, the food is delicious and the service is impeccable. However, Ambers charm isnt limited to small groups. I organized a banquet for my student association (55 people) and I couldnt be more satisfied; the event was a great success. Once again, the service was impeccable. The manager Marco was able to guide me perfectly through the steps to organize the said event and through the different options that the menu offers. Ive organized a few events like this, and Amber is definitely one of my best experiences, if not the best. For large groups, I recommend calling the phone or seeing them in person before initiating an email discussion.
Superb restaurant. No music, so it s easy to have a discussion without having to shout. The food is excellent and the portions are generous.
Generous portion, bring your own booze, everything was delicious
We were greater by Victoria, a doctor to be, at the door. She gave us great service and with a smile. Food was good. Naan was extremely good. BYOB. Chef, please marinate the shrimp with added salt Makes a world of difference
Are you looking for a restaurant with a good atmosphere, with Indian food and apportez votre vin? is this place!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, ordinary Very ordinary service
We had takeout tonight and it was fabulous. Ready in 20 minutes! The lamb vindaloo was sour and spicy - just the way it is supposed.to be! Saag was nicely spiced with good chunks of paneer. The butter chicken sauce was rich and just the touch of sweetness to match the cream. Naan - fluffy and lovely. Great tandoori chicken. We are ready to go to the dining room next!!!
Impeccable services, very nice team and generous portion, super nice, I recommend
Excellent korma vegetables and very good service. We come back regularly
I went there with a friend, we were pleasantly surprised. Everything was super good, I recommend the garlic naan! We will definitely return and the BYOB option makes the bill very reasonable in the end. The portions are large enough to share choices between two people.
The flavor profile of the food is just not there. Bland, flavorless, not authentic at all. Which is unfortunate as the atmosphere and vibe is very warm and great.
We organized our wedding in this restaurant, everything was up to par from the cuisine to the service and the beauty of the restaurant. Many thanks
I am writing to you today to warmly thank you for your contribution to the success of our marriage. the butter chicken is very good but the shahi paneer and naans are ordinary
Nice place with great food and decent prices!
Ok food, great service, but so noisy the night we were there...
A very pleasant bring your own wine (near the SAQ). Window open in summer to create a terrace. Lunch choice in my top 1 Indian meals. I will go back without hesitation.
We are regular customers. We come very often in groups of 4-6 and we have always been completely satisfied with the quality of the food, the variety of the menu, the quality of the service as well as the atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable. This is a BYOB restaurant. I recommend everyone around me to go to Amber. Ideally, we reserve in advance since it is always full.
while we appreciated the food there, they send you SPAM emails for no reason
Food is amazing and service impeccable! Good vegan and vegetarian selection, everything tasted great! Would definitely recommend!
Cafeteria atmosphere. I recommend for a large group, but not for an intimate dinner.
It was our first visit and we will come back. Very good and good portions.
Good food and good service
Our server Marco was 10/10
Great service! Excellent food!
The food was okay and the price too, but the service really leaves something to be desired. We were a group of 10 and the restaurant was not full at all, but we had to ask for the smallest thing and also pay at the cash register for everyone, its not necessarily inconvenient but the way it was handled requested was pretty average.
Horrible Food, honestly you guys should close your restaurant. Its terrible food taste.
Tasty flavors in the 3 vegetarian dishes I had and the price was what you would expect for the dish size. The server was also very nice.
Ordered lamb karahi and had to spit it. Returned the dish and asked for a refund, management didnt cooperate. Food was bland as well. I wouldnt recommend wasting money here.
Lack of flavor, bland meal (no spice and salt). The Naan breads taste nothing and they are dry. My first negative experience in an Indian culture restaurant.
If you are Indian then dont prefer to go here as food was tasteless and prices are too high
The staff on site are great for service and they took guests food allergies into consideration. The dishes are really tasty. I will definitely go back!
Clean and well decorated restaurant. Super courteous staff. The food is absolutely sublime for the taste buds! We will definitely go back!
Nice place. Outstanding food!
Among the best Indian restaurants in Montreal!
- Food was outstanding - Served really fast - Perfect lighting. Food : 5/5
Not so pleasant experience, too much wait time and the food was below average.
Worst experience ever!! The food was disgusting and flavourless. I ve heard a lot about the restaurant but never going back again
I went there for the second time only to be positively surprised by their lunch menu. I was able to taste many different Indian flavors in one sitting. Cant go wrong with that! I was especially delighted by the dessert: Gulab Jamun. It was a sponge-like-texture ball that was soaked with this mildly sweet (I believe there was rose water to flavour) simple syrup that felt like the best way to end a meal! All bowls are a small hand size so its a very good portion. I had the Lamb korma which is slightly sweet as its made with coconut milk. Ill definitely keep going back. Its a great place, with delicious food and affordable prices.
We arrived at this restaurant with the idea of eating good spicy dishes. Once served, we are amazed to discover banal dishes devoid of spices and enthusiasm. The atmosphere of the restaurant was similar to a classic restaurant without any Indian or Pakistani references or even decoration. The waitress was very professional although overwhelmed because she was alone! For the price which is still substantial, I am disappointed and want my moneys worth!! Bland cuisine made for white people, consumed by white people who know nothing about oriental cuisine, and which therefore makes it a very well-rated restaurant.
Cold food No taste Dirty place Not good food Food : 1/5 |
