I really enjoyed eating at Bombay Mahal Restaurant. The taste was very good. The ambiance was also very good. The people are very friendly and their food quality is also very good
I wager I've tried upwards of 50 Indian restaurants and have dabbled in the kitchen with more than a few Indian recipes as well. Bombay Mahal is one of the worst Indian restaurants I've ever tried. There was no paneer in the Palak Paneer, they gave us roti instead of naan which was dreadful and the chicken in the chicken curry was dry whilst the consistency of the curry resembled more of a broth or soup. The pictures of the dishes on Uber Eats differed drastically to what we received. I called the restaurant and spoke to the owner and she gave me some song and dance about recipes being different at different restaurants. She said the paneer was shredded and the naan was "unique" (it was in fact roti). I challenge anyone to find me a curry recipe where the paneer is shredded opposed to being cubed. I'm always reticent to leave a negative review on Google Reviews and haven't left many, but this experience definitely warranted negative feedback. Avoid this place like the plague!
Honestly the sized portions were just right so you can order a few things for a really good price. Atmosphere was very calm and nice to have a small gathering. Very pleasantly surprised.
I tried this place out based on a recommendation but I cannot say that I loved it. The food was good, and although they say everything is medium spicy, most of it was very spicy, so some members of the party could not eat much of it, just too spicy. The options are also somewhat limited, but the food was good for those of us that can handle the spice level. The price is quite good and the servings are large enough, so bring a container to take home the rest as it makes a great lunch.
Bombay Mahal in Montreal is a true gem for non-vegetarian lovers. The rich aroma of authentic Indian spices greets you as you enter, promising a memorable dining experience. The menu boasts a delightful array of dishes, with the butter chicken and lamb curry standing out for their flavorful and tender meats. The staff is warm and welcoming, ensuring every guest feels at home. The portions are generous and the presentation is top-notch, making it an excellent choice for both casual meals and special occasions. Whether you're a fan of spicy or mild dishes, Bombay Mahal offers a perfect balance that caters to all palates. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Indian cuisine in Montreal!
Service is A1 As fast as it gets And they are really nice too always give extra Lassi or Gulab Jamun Food is delicious, especially considering the price Great, taste, always fresh Naan Thank you:)
UBER EATS portions are ridiculously SMALL. See size comparison with a standard mug. Butter chicken had a few chunks of dry chicken. Flavor ok
Incredible Indian food for vegetarians and for meat eaters. AMAZING price. The value, quality, the care and service by the staff. The food was served beautifully, hot, generous portion. I love that they have soup and appetizers and so much variety. Will come here again and again. Highly recommend 💙👍🏻 PS - the garlic naan was incredible and I actually prefer how thin and crispy it was unlike some reviews. One order was enough for two people and was only 3 or so dollars.
Quality has gone down tremendously. Quite disappointing... When giving portions, they arnt willingly generous either.
I used to order from Bombay Mahal all the time, until last Sunday I got food poisoning from the butter chicken. Was sick, in bed for days. Didn t eat for four days because I couldn t keep anything down. Will NEVER eat there again!
Great food. I never tasted this types of delicious food in all over in canada.
I ordered a butter chicken, with rice and nann bread for $30, here is my plate. Its up to you to judge if its worth the price! Personally, a little disappointed with the quantity. Its not bad in taste, but Ive tasted better! *the photo is in the photos of the place*
Order was safely delivered, Everything was in tact and hot! I ll recommend this for everyday meal. :)
Vegetarian options: Their food is delicious Food
Placed an order online Ordered chicken tikka masala, but got butter chicken instead. Forget my drink, and got food poisoning afterwards. Would not recommend:((
Food was delicious!! Neighborhood gem.
Tried the best food in the town. Vegetarian options: Tried the best food in the town. Food : 5/5 |
Biryani was so disappointing. I could taste the turmeric while eating. It wasn t a real biryani just fried rice with chicken.
Overpriced ans small portions
Very dirty rude restaurant employee to avoid
The amount of food for the price is not worth it. I paid $12 for a tiny aloo gobi. I wont return
Just tried their butter chicken..... was tooooo sweet no flavor of spices and chicken cubes were tooo big.... it was like I am eating some sweet chicken dish....
The people working were so kind. They care about providing quality service for quality food. My local spot for Indian cuisine and it s a gem!
The food is really good and the service is very cordial. I never eat there, but as a take out its perfect.
I bought chola batura and veggie pakora.Taste is not good it s very awkward
Best experience for take away options

Best food in town
I would give zero point zero stars! We had the Butter Chicken. Tasteless hard chicken in a sauce that tasted like pure unseasoned cream. The Naan was a wet pancake. Would never order again, even if it was free! Please save yourself the disappointment
Excellent
Best Indian in Mtl West
Good food
I ordered butter chicken and vegeterian pakora with chunteny mango.. butter chicken was very watery and okay taste .. vegetarian pakora was good but chunteny mango taste something that goes bad kinda passed expiry date. I through that out completely.. anyway i did not expect a resturant with a review over 4 server those food..
Absolutely disgusting butter chicken is a soup consistency and zero flavors, pulao rice is greasy. Completely overpriced there are great options in mtl for quality butter chicken in mtl. This is probably the worst choice anyone can make.
I am a regular at Indian cuisine, and honestly if I could give -5 stars I would!! Worst Indian food of my life!!! O_O sweet and extremely runny butter chicken. Madrasi chicken that tastes like cloves with a good 5mm of liquid fat on top and has the same consistency as butter chicken, that is to say a soup! The pulao rice is greasy and the peas are not even cooked! The naan bread is more than far from fresh. And the portion size?!?!!! What is that??? Smallest restaurant portions ever! This is ridiculous! You have to wonder if the owner doesnt want to laugh at his customers...and thats without mentioning the exorbitant prices! NEVER AGAIN!!!
Best indan food ever
Good
Update July 2024: This place definitely changed owner/management. Now it sucks. From the rudest attitude of the woman with glasses serving, to the food and the lack of taste. We used to eat here every week because it was delicious and the workers were so nice. They even knew what we liked. Now, all of that has disappeared. Instead, we have a rude woman who served whatever she wanted without asking. And she got so annoyed when I refused to take what she dumped on our plates. No tamarind sauce. No taste and just dry chicken. If you want to lose customers, you are in the right direction. Deeply disappointed. -/ I just ate there and is delicious. At first glance I thought it was some fast food joint and I kept walking. But nothing convinced me over Sherbrooke west so I went back to the Bombay and wow! The chicken tandoori with spinach and other spicy green sauce was awesome. The naans were hot and buttery. The salad was fresh and help a bit with this spicy and delicious plate. Definitely, I will return to try something else.
The Lamb Vindaloo here is amazing. Very spicy, savoury, and delicious. I originally found this place on delivery apps, but Ive since dined in a couple of times over the past 2 years, and the table service has improved immensely since the first time I came. Ive tried several other Indian restaurants, and Bombay Mahal might not have the flashiest decor or the largest interior, but the food quality is unparalleled, and so consistent. This is my favourite local restaurant, and Ill be coming back often. Vegetarian options: Plenty of Vegetarian options
Dont be fooled be the lackluster decor, if you want FLAVOR, Serious, smile-inducing flavor, you come HERE! You will ABSOLUTELY NOT be disappointed, the food EXPLODES in your tastebuds. Must come for any fan of Indian!
Delicious food must try Thali
Always the best Indian food in NDG
Delicious!! What a treat!
Had a great lunch thali with my son the food was good, portions were generous, and the staff were great. Would definitely recommend!
Bombay Mahal has always been my go to choice for fine Indian cuisine!!
Must try Paneer chilly best Indian food ever
Best service and best food I ever had Must try Butter Chicken
I try Chana Masala and Paneer naan delicious good experience
Number 1
Low quality food i can make better at home rather than ordering from here
An extra drink.
Best butter chicken that i ve tasted ! A+++
Best Indian restaurant in NDG Great food with friendly staff love their thalli with butter chicken
Dined in with family. Excellent food with, both quality and quantity. Specially the butter chicken and chicken biriyani! Would definitely recommend if you re in Montreal!
Went there for a butter chicken it was amazing, highly recommend!! They offer a free drinks the whole summer #must
The new owner is great and the food is always fresh :)
Ordered thalis food was amazing but the girl who took our order was extremely rude. Not returning here even though food was good.
My favourite restaurant since Covid! Best Shahi paneer in the world. Get the mahal pulao and the mango lassi. Service is top notch too
I ordered malai kofta and Naan through Uber delivery. They sent me burnt koftas, which I had to cut using a knife!! The spoon didnt go through the kofta! I just couldnt believe they had the audacity to send me such a thing to eat! And now my health has gone bad, feels like I will throw up! I regret ordering from this place.
Really tasty Nann bread yum yum
Delicious food & Good Service!!
Excellent resto, love the veg thali
We ordered the food on Uber eats. Portions are ridiculously small, it s almost laughable. We ordered for a party of 6 and received enough for 4 people. Missing items, small quantities. No customer service AT ALL. Do yourself a favour and order somewhere else
The lentil curries are very watery
very good portion sizes and excellent prices!
Uber eated 2x Butter chicken tali. Butter chicken sauce is too diluded and bland. Naan bread so floppy and dense. Not even an once of spiciness. Not representative of real Indian food and Im white. Had better elsewhere.
Simply great Indian food. Your taste buds will thank you for trying this place out. A true gem of the neighbourhood and city. Vegetarian options: Always have a lentil and several veggie options.
Very good restaurant and authentic Indian food. The butter chicken is amazing and delicious samosas!
Amazing food,Amazing people !Must visit !!!
Rude!?! No hello. No good bye. No thank you. When I say thank you no reply Terrible service never comin back Food : 1/5
This was super disappointing. I got takeout once before from here and enjoyed it but I honesty don t know what happened this time. I got watery chicken curry. They gave us complimentary mango lassi when I picked up the food, which is nice, but the meal itself was bad. Dry chicken. Other dishes we got needed more salt.
One of the most affordable place to eat in the neighbourhood. The curry was a little bit sweeter than my liking
Tasty food, friendly staff, quick service and great value for what you pay/order. Definitely recommend
Twice now I have been charged more than the price advertised on the menu
Great local indian food!
Great food and awesome staff
Excellent! Nothing to say, best cuisine
Portion was so small as compared to other restaurants also the taste was terrible
Very tasty well prepared assortment of dishes at a reasonable price. Skews a little hotter that your food court Indian fare. Service was fine. Place could use some sprucing up decor wise, but it looks like it mostly a take out.
my « go to » indian restaurant in my neighbourhood, excellent flavour
Amazing taste!! And great price
I like food and services Vegetarian options: I like vegetarian options specifically vegetarian dish and paneer pakoda i like too much and that raytu was delicious which was complementary. Thank you so much for your kind service and amazing food.
Delicious and affordable!
The food is absolute worst, I ordered Chiken tikka which was absolutely dry no flavor and a leftover smell and bIryani which was salty. Completely waste of money. Disappointed
I ordered a couple of delicious dishes, took me more time to choose and a few minutes later my order was at the door. Merci
Food was delicious. Generous size portions at a very good price. $60 was enough to fill us up with plenty left over to bring home. Customer service was outstanding. We will definitely be back.
Good food very tasty ... thank you
They sold Stale food
Great food, good price!
Delicious dishes for those who appreciate the rich flavors of Indian food! Ask the chef to moderate the pepper unless you like it particularly hot.
Very, very overpriced and portions are super small!!!! Everything tasted the same. Restaurant looks unclean. Won t be ordering from here again
Delicious, impeccable service, generous portion and low price. We will return there soon. Vegetarian options: Several veggie options and even vegan choices
My friend told me about this place yesterday and I couldn t be happier about the recommendation! The Lamb Curry and Vegetable Thali were simply amazing! The staff is super friendly too. I ll be coming back for sure!
I recommend this place Bombay Mahal in NDG, their prices and portions are reasonable. The staff is friendly and accommodating!! I dine in and also do take out, but I prefer dining in, the food is fresh and delicious!! I give it 5
Loved it, the woman at the counter is sooo friendly and the food was divine. I had the non-veg thali this time, the butter chicken was fresh and savory. The Lentils were made to perfection and the fresh Naan is simply amazing. I love Bombay Mahal Vegetarian options: Great selection of vegetarian options and a ton of diversity!
Amazing tasty food.
Good experience , tasty and delicious food as well as mango lassii is also too good
Delicious!
Quality has deteriorated and it is now ridiculously overpriced.
Ordered food from there on Uber, and I received MOLDY food... Yes, fungus on the food... Uber reimburse me directly. I called the restaurant to let them know and they answered me: Oh my bad..... Receipe for food poisoning...
I just love this place! The prices are so low and the portion sizes are generous. Highly recommend the lamb curry. I like to order just that with a side of rice and it makes two satisfying meals for me! The last time I went the naan was to die for, so feathery and lightly charred. Eating in doesnt really elevate the experience since its casual, but I love ordering takeout from here. Vegetarian options: Most options available are vegetarian
Me and my friend have gone here plenty of times. We have never had a bad experience, its one of our favorite places. The food is delicious and all the staff have been amazing.
I wanted to go to Fardin Express next door but they were closed and I saw this and I thought lets try it. The fist thing that struck me was that it was not clean. They had tried but it was messy. Papers and things just left carelessly behind the service guy. The display glass had water streak marks. Whoever cleaned did not take care of pride in their work. The food did not look appetizing at all. I ordered the lamb thali: One dish of lamb, palak paneer (Spinach and cottage cheese), Bhurta (Egg plant). It came with rice and Nan. The food was nothing special, regular ordinary food found in any other restaurant. The naan was fabulous though. Perfectly cooked and fresh better than most other restaurants. Will the naan drag me back? Ah! I had ordered a samosa too. It was good but was overpriced.
The worst butter chicken i ever had taste like damn medicines and sweets taste like they about get expired.
Definition of dive location, best food, friendly service, hole in the wall but you will be blown away by the quality of the food. 10/10 cannot rate higher
I tried this place for the first time recently and it was great! The food was very flavorful and it came with plenty for the price.
Good food, great price. You always know youll get your moneys worth and feel satisfied.
counter desk attendant attitude is very rude. It require and needs to be improved from business point of view. It happens only on Saturday & Sunday.
Always delicious! I cant get enough of their dahl makhni -- Id eat it all day everyday. I also love the chanah masala, the samosas, the onion bajis and the naans. My absolute favorite takeout Edit after reading the comments: of course its spicy, but if you dont like hot food maybe you shouldnt be eating Indian... Vegetarian options: Many chickpeas/lentil-based dishes
Buy one get one free on Uber Eats: Hit or miss. First time, I ordered butter chicken + rice (got two of each) Today, I just got one of each so had to refund pretty much my whole order. Disappointed. Please give consistency.
Amazing food! We try to stop by for lunch at least once a week, it s very affordable and the food is delicious. I tried the lentils and butter chicken this week and it did not disappoint!! Highly recommend giving this place a shot.
Great food. Modest decor. Been here multiple times. They do well it seems on delivery too. Weakest menu item so far is the butter chicken, but still a pass. The shrimp vindaloo was top notch if you like spicy .
Vegetarian options: Great taste Food
Great food + service and affordable prices for a quick meal!
Really delicious foods , with affordable price, we buy at least once a week...
AMAZING !!! A favorite in NDG
The best!!
Been coming here for 6 years. First negative experience today. Wanted to order a thali and could clearly see there was enough butter chicken but was told there s not enough. It was stingy and rude treatment to a longtime customer. The employee should consider a different approach when serving clients. You asked for a Google review on your display, so here it is.
Delicious food, the chicken biryani had the perfect amount of heat.
Authentic Indian cuisine in a simple setting. Fresh and tasty. Highly recommend.
Worst food experience.. order through uber. 16 dollrs butter chicken is just tasteless the gravy is watery no spices at all. Didn t satisfied with the quality according to the price. Poor
One of the best popular spots to get Indian on the west
Best restaurant in Montreal, my favorite. Good quality price.
The food was DELICIOUS. This simple and I pretentious restaurant was such a pleasant surprise to discover. I will definitely come back many times to explore the rest of the menu
Fast and courteous service
Delicious food! But, I find the prices a little high, the restaurant is a little dilapidated and the quantities are insufficient when you take away
This place prepares their food with love and care. I ordered their fish pakoras, butter chicken and their mango lassi and everything was great with amazing proportions. Thank you for the delicious meal (:
We love this place. It s affordable and delicious and always fresh. Their mango drink is so sweet and tasty. Their butter chicken is nice and saucy. Highly recommend as a home date night.
I really like their food Update: still delicious but crazy spicy! Ordered the same dish, couldn t feel my tongue for a little while Food : 4/5
Good service, responsive and clean
Great food and great prices! The staff are also very friendly :) I stopped in for lunch and had the chana samosa, it was delicious, and a great nutritious lunch for under $10!
The food is amazing, the naan and palak paneer were very tasty. I will definitely order again. The service was good. The only bad side was that the place looked a little dirty for dine in. However, the food was fresh. The paneer was soft which I feel is rare at many Indian restaurants.
Great price and tasty as Indian food should be!!! Amazing!!!
Butter Chicken was like bland cream of tomato soup.
Good food. Friendly staff.
Butter chicken was more liquid than soup, small portions. Rice was old and dry. Naan was good. Received 2 orders of fish pakoras with NO sauce. Service not available in French or English. Restaurant was so filthy that any health inspector would shut it down immediately.
Excellent food for a reasonable price!
Always tasty. Price is good for the amount of food you get in a thali plate.
The food has us coming back for more and more. It is delicious!
My wife an I had a non-veg thali. It was absolutely delicious. It is hard to find such a satisfying lunch for the price.
Very delicious food. Enjoyed it immensely! Would strongly recommend it.
Brought our kids for dinner - didn t realize that it was more of a takeout type of place so that was unexpected. Service was great and food was delicious! Will definitely be back or even order it in next time :)
Very nice food with best food serving staff The service of the boy on the front desk is very good Food
My favorite delivery. The shahi paneer and garlic naan are out of this world. The rice is expertly made and slightly aromatic even. Thank you for your hard work! Vegetarian options: Excellent vegetarian and vegan options.
We love taking out from here. We have been eating at Bombay Mahal for over 20 years! Love the chana samosa and butter chicken.
Got lamb biryani was really spicy (i mentioned to be low spice). Paneer pakoda was not that great. Fish pakora was good
A good, affordable, meal that doesn t pull back on the spices.
Stopped here to get a take out around 2PM. Place looks ordinary but food is delicious. Good portions too. I couldn t finish everything in one go. I saved the rest for next day and it was still very good. Taste buds are still happy
First time here but not the last time. The food was great and very reasonably priced. We were served quickly and they patiently answered all my questions. This is definitely a place Ill be visiting more often now that I found it
I dont understand why this place doesn t have a higher rating. The vibe is a counter serve place, nothing fancy, but the food is really quite good and they serve at the tables like a normal restaurant, too. Indian food in Montreal can be hit and miss but nothing here was a miss. They even have an okra masala which not all places have but I love, it is SO good. The staff were friendly and good at their jobs. If you need a quick meal, or delivery, no hesitations.
Me and my family really enjoyed the food and the service, even if a friend of mine didn t want spicy food they tried to find a solution
This was my first time here but not my last. The food and service was great. I had the lamb biryani and my wife the Thali. I loved it and I also love the prices. Very reasonable Well be coming back
Butter chicken and chili shrimp were amazing, but the naan bread was even better.
Delicious samosas!
Fresh and delicious food and very kind staff. I highly recommend!
The best choice for take-out in the neighbourhood. Absolutely delicious food (I always get the veggie thali), and super reasonably priced. Service is always quick and friendly.
The worst Indian food I ve ever had. The butter chicken was just watery liquid with dry chunks of chicken and the naan was a single paper thin piece cut in half.
This is one of the best Indian restaurants in Montréal.. Food is very reasonable and tasty. Very nice and polite Staff .. i would highly recommend this if you love Indian food..
rlly good for munchies
Delicious food and friendly service. This is a fast food style restaurant. Could be cleaner. Tables often left unbiased.
Solid prices, good vegetarian options. Id recommend the chili paneer, Malai kofta, or samosas. Naan was mediocre.
Terrible service . Their payment machine not working and ask for cash So rude so disrespect
Back in my old neighborhood, Pouuuuffff Bombay mahal, whoooaaaaaaw, great place, soooo good....
Lamb vindaloo was very red and did not taste like vindaloo at all, the dish also had 2 big pieces of ginger the size of potatoes which really shows the lack of care going into the food
Delicious Indian food at a reasonable price.
Amazing place to grab Indian food , had Chicken thali recently and it was amazing . The staff s quiet welcoming too specially the lady at the counter. Overall had a great experience:)
Best palak paneer in the city. My comfort food place
Worst food and the cashier is so rude, she dont know how to talk.
Great food n services
Enjoyed the Butter and Curry Chicken. Will most definitely eat there again.
Food was delicious and great quality. I absolutely loved it. The price is accordable and I will definitely recommend to my friends and family.
Great food service. Loved alot. Best food in canada
I usually go to Ndg location. The staff is so friendly and cooperative. Always willing to help and I love the food. It reminds me my homeland india .
Best indian food in montreal. I like the veg thali most
