Best Indian in NDG. Chili chicken is a fantastic discovery. Lamb korma is amazing. And while you can only expect si much from Naan bread, they are delicious and large portion.

We have ordered delivery from their website and it came at a reasonable time For the food, weve ordered 3 butter chicken thali and we LOVED the curries that it came with! Everything was flavorful and tasted great However, as I was eating my tandoori chicken, I discovered it was raw near the bone; hence why I deducted 1 star. Its such a shame, I really wanted to give this place a 5 stars! P.S after reading the reviews complaining about the packaging, they dont use your typical rectangle container with dividers in them; they use small individual circle containers. Nonetheless, it still a lot of food, so dont be fooled!

We eat here once in a while a food is good . We ordered biryani for 20 people for a house party and everyone liked it. However they did not start preparing it until we went there to take the order , so they ended up giving us extra plates for their mistake . All in all it went well !!

First time trying this restaurant. Ordered Lamb Vindaloo, butter chicken and some appetizers to serve 3 people who eat normal quantities. Simply, it s a major rip off and it s sad businesses try to get away with this. In the lamb vindaloo there was more carrots than lamb. For the lamb and chicken plate it was literally all sauce and little bits of meat. Nothing to chew on . The plates are not cheap at 20$ each. We didnt pay for sauce and carrots. It s honestly a scam and I m embarrassed for this restaurant. Simply, don t go here. You can get better tasting Indian food for less and serve you nice quantities. We had to supplement the dinner with extra food this was a 60$ snack. get better. To the owners reply: in this picture I posted I m showing you all the carrots that were in my dish AS PROOF. Lamb is brown, carrots are orange. Stop lying publicly. When someone orders a meat dish you give them a bunch of sauce and little bits of lamb and 3/4 of the dish is carrots. In the picture you can t even see any lamb chunks. I m so surprised I would get this response from the owner of a business

We have been looking for an Indian restaurant nearby and decided to give this restaurant a try. We ARE so glad we did!! We ordered take out. The food was outstanding. I can still taste the butter chicken! This is a family run business and the service was timely, portions generous and everything was fresh and delicious. The spice level was right on target. The price range is medium but well worth it. I am really surprised at the negative reviews but I guess to each their own. We cannot wait to go back for more delicious Indian food!

This place is super authentic, real spice, real flavours, everytime we stop in Montreal we visit this place to eat. Great Indian food is sometimes hard to find in some cities, I have travelled around the world and had Indian food in some of the best places and this family style cooking is up there with the best! We will see you in April of this year!

It was provided with butter naan Lots of chicken for 2 people and a generous position that 2 adults could finish. I have ordered from this restaurant once before and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered Butter Chicken and it was really good!! I decided to go in person tonight with a friend (she loves Indian food and and very hesitant to try a new place) and I can say that both my friends Vindaloo and my Beef Curry were outstanding! So full of flavour and not overly spiced (my friend had medium and I had mild). The restaurant is small but very clean and the owner & chef & workers are all very warm & inviting & polite. The Dal soup was also incredible & tasty! The Naan also sooo good! I will be going back for sure!

Best Indian food I have tasted in Canada until now. The chef is an absolute genius in the kitchen. On our request he gave the dish the authentic spicy flavour we were craving for so long. We ordered tandoori chicken, chicken tikka kadhai and garlic naan. The food was freshly prepared and was so amazing. This has become my favourite Indian restaurant in Montreal. Highly recommended!!!

We had a delicious lunch here. We both ordered the Thali vegetarian plate and were delighted with the three little dishes, naan bread (amazing) and rice (done to perfection) that came with it. This is a charming family restaurant that strives to provide a friendly and tasteful atmosphere. The owners are honest and helpful. When I forgot my purse and phone there, they went to extra efforts to find me. Thanks to their diligence, I ended up getting everything back. When I gratefully offered money to than then, they politely declined. We need more people like this family in the world. I highly recommend this lovely restaurant. Vegetarian options: A good selection of vegetarian dishes. Parking: Was easy at that time of day to find free parking.

The food wasnt bad. I enjoyed my meal. I would definitely order it again. The only problem was the delivery took about 2 hours, but to cut them some slack they were delivering outside theyre normal delivery zone. It wasnt 2 hours far, maybe 10mins further then their normal route. So with that being said, you might wait a while for your food. I would give it a 7/10. I do recommend.

The butter chicken is excellent and spiced to your liking. The Chana samosas are delicious and naan is hard to resist. Just happened to see this restaurant listed in grab app and ordered food from it . The delivery was fast considering the distance and food was amazing . I ordered combo B and it was enough for two people . The quantity and quality of food worth the money. Don t miss to try this place .

The food!!!! So good. I was recommended the Lamb Korma by the matron and it exceeded my expectations. Fresh, homemade food full of flavorful spices! Im also a regular for the Lamb Biryani and it never disappoints.

We ordered the Butter Chicken Thali and Vegan Thali for delivery and it was excellent. The meal arrived hot and fresh, and looked appetizing. The vegetables were seasoned perfectly and the dal was flavourful and rich tasting even though its really healthy. Dal tasted like it had simmered all day, to really let the flavours blend. Tandoor chicken was hot and tender with just the right amount of spice. The butter chicken was tender and delicious, with just the right amount of sauce. Spinach tofu is one of those dishes that might convert even spinach haters, or those who usually order spinach paneer. Not cheap, but great value, generous portions, more than enough for two people, and so much more nutritious than the same price spent on usual takeaway. Friendly service. Thank you!

I really hope this amazing family-owned restaurant opens again soon! We miss it!!!

We were the only two people in the restaurant and waited 45 minutes for our food. Then, the rice was cold. Kebab platter had hardly any meat (two bony chicken legs) and a kebab the size of my pinky. Upon paying, the owner asked if it was good. I told her it was not very good for the reasons above and she still charged me full price. Very disappointing.

I gave them a call to ask if their terrace was open and they said no, but that it would be in a week. I kinda half jokingly and with no expectations asked if they would be willing to take out a table and two chairs for us and to my surprise they said yes! Shrimp masala is very tasty

They re underrated. It s simple and flavourful. I gave it a chance and tried a couple more times compared to some of my other favourite Indian restaurants. I m surprised and pleased with the dishes. They could be slightly more generous with the portion size but that s just my stomach talking.

How this place got over 4 star rating is beyond me. I decided to try it since my go-to Indian restaurant (Bombay Mahal) was closed on Mondays. Lesson learned, I should not try new places, stick to what you know. I should have read the negative reviews first as a lot of them mentioned delays, and late delivery - very accurate! My order was delayed 1 hour 50 minutes for delivery (almost 2 hours), really long, bad wait time. When the food arrived it was packaged poorly, the containers were in the paper bag sideways so all the sauce fell out and wet the bag, when I took out the bag it ripped and all the containers fell face down on the floor and splattered. Lucky the covers were still on, so I was able to salvage it with out having too much of it contaminated. When I tasted it, it was really bad taste, not awful, but bland and tasteless (biriyani), nothing like regular Indian food. The naan was soggy, stiff and tasteless. The chicken tikka masala was not flavorful, just salt, and the chicken bits seemed like fake processed chicken and sauce. They didnt even include yogurt on the side for the biriyani like most places. Also way too expensive for what it is. Much more expensive than other places. Im sorry, but this place is not for me.

Was a long time customer of the Sherbrooke triangle of NDG Indian restaurants (you know the three! and you know the arguments youve had with your friends on Facebook NDG about which one was better)... so ignored Express Indian. Alas a mistake Ill regret to my dying days. Express Indian, and in particular their amazing Channa Samosa, will be my go to Indian resto in NDG.

For us it was a first experience and certainly not the last. A warm, authentic welcome and what can we say about the dishes! Simply sublime. A treat for lovers of Indian cuisine.

I find that most of the Indian restaurants in Montreal are just hopeless. This restaurant goes on to prove my point. They do not know how to cook vegetable biryani. A biryani is not supposed to contain sticky rice. Their Butter Chicken is just Chicken cooked in Cream. Also, I ordered Chicken Jalfrezi twice and it tasted different on both occasions. On the 1st occasion, it was ok. 2nd time, it tasted awful.

We have been warmly welcomed by the waitress that was working tonight. She took great care of us guiding us not only through the menu, but with great attention regarding the culture behind the use of the spices. The food is perfectly spiced and they make sure they dont cut corners on the usually less important side dishes like the salad (i.e : even the salad tastes like an honorable standalone dish). We left the place with a lasting smile and it goes without saying that well absolutely eat there again. Thanks to our waitress, and thanks to the delicious homemade cuisine of Express Indien!

Worst service We didn t get utensils with indian food(including rice), they said we have to request for them If anyone orders indian food with rice and they have to request for utensils..does it make any sense..? Did areguments on that.. We ordered just two thali and took almost 50 minutes 33$ bil for just two thali and two extra naan 9$ for each thali and 2$ for naan (mentioned on the menu) I would never recommend this restaurant They service is not good and do arguments on small things

This place has chana samosa on the menu, which I have yet to see at my usual local Indian places - its the absolute best! Their other stuff is great too - the thali is a great option for a variety of small portions. You can set your preference for mild, medium, or hot for most dishes. Their online ordering system right from the website is easy to navigate and easy to use. Highly recommend!

I live close to the restaurant and was so happy when they opened; our family has been customers for years. The best Indian food Ive ever had - we have so many favourites - the owner-chef and his wife and his waiter are super friendly - not only are his chicken and lamb dishes to die for so are his vegetarian dishes. Decent Indian food. Fair prices. We ordered for pick-up, it wasnt long that we waited. We had Chicken Biryani - moist, tasty, large portion. I asked for it to not be too spicy and they did exactly as told. The Tarka Dahl was delicious too - well-seasoned and perfect for Basmati rice. Buter Chicken was creamy and tasty as well. We enjoyed the dishes. Will be back! :)

We get Takeout at least twice a month! Delicious food. I suggest the chicken tikki masala with rice and eggplant barta, with a garlic naan bread! Our favorite! For 28$ we get super tasty food and its good for 2 people. Update 1 year later: the butter chicken from here is my favorite!

The nearest thing you could ever get to authentic Indian food. It is by far the tastiest and even better than food in India. The lamb bhuna is to die for. And if you like spicy make sure it is because it is mouthwatering. Theyre kebab is the the tastiest and so much flavour, it looks breathtaking. If only Gordon Ramsay could review this place, you would all realize how good this is. Never been so impressed by an Indian restaurant where I ate so many times.

Some of the best Indian food in Montreal--and Ive tried lots of places. Unfortunately the owner is not remotely generous towards or appreciative of loyal or regular customers -- weve been regular customers for years, and we often order $100+ worth of Indian food for big family feasts and the owner consistently refuses to throw in even 1 free naan bread for us. The naan comes free with any meat dish, but if you order a paneer dish (e.g. butter paneer instead of butter chicken) which costs almost the same, the naan isnt included, at 2.45 a piece. To give a concrete example: At $14, butter chicken comes with 1 naan or rice. included At $13, the butter paneer does NOT come with naan or rice. So if you want the naan or rice for $2.45 you end up paying more than you would for butter chicken!! Another example of their stinginess: most restaurants that offer combos will let you swap out one item for another from the menu, and if the price of the items youre swapping is the same, theyll either do the swap for free or a small charge. I once asked to swap an item listed at $14 on the menu for another item listed at $14, and they insisted on charging a $4 fee. Other Indian restaurants in NDG are much more flexible and especially towards regular customers. This practice of nickle and diming loyal customers is why we rarely order from them anymore. Sadly they dont care.

Decent food does not make up for poor service. We were loyal to Express Indian for a LONG time. Their Lamb Korma was the best we had in the city and that one dish kept us coming back. But its not a nice location so we gave them our business by ordering in. The inflexibility to make small substitutions here and there for loyal customers really wears you down. We ordered from there 10-15 times per year, they recognized us when we did come in, so the constant nickel and diming did nothing to build our loyalty. The food is good, dont get me wrong, but the feel, the mood, has forced us to choose a new go-to restaurant for our Indian cravings.

Have recently started ordering from Express Indian. The food is delicious. It arrives hot and the person who takes the orders is delightful. I would highly recommend them!

Lev the burner (previous reviewer) is very wrong. The excellent, delicately prepared foods more than make up for the no-frills service. The word express in the name should be a tell.

Best butter chicken I ever had!

I am one hundred percent sure that they served me a ready to eat veg korma curry. It says all about the restaurant.

Fantastic Indian cuisine made from scratch for every order. Ordered a pick up for a 2 person complete dinner. So much food! And everything was delicious, perfectly mild in seasoning. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely order again!

The food was great, the portions were generous, the server was very nice, and they had no problem accommodating my dietary needs. Very happy to have found this little gem! Was very glad to take the trip across town to eat here. Totally recommend this place to anyone who loves Indian food!

Awesome little family owned Indian restaurant in NDG serving up some very good food with excellent service! Went here for the first time and the family & I loved every bit of our time there. Seated by a very gracious hostess who took our order (even taking suggestions from our 2 year old)and bringing to our table everything for making a perfect meal like poulet pakoras, tikka au poulet, dal makhani, naan and so much more. We felt like part of the family at the end and plan on going back for more great food & good times!

I went to eat there a few years ago and still remember the experience. Theyre food was absolutely delicious and great. Excellent cooks... excellent service I have to go back!!!!! This is the ONLY indian cuisine i would recommend b4 this I had bad experiences with Indian restaurant food

This Restaurant is closed for Renovation. I called the restaurant to order take away no one answered. So I directly walked in and there is some work going on and not sure when it s going to open. Writing this so that people should know that the restaurant is closed as of now.

Excellent service! A superb evening with friends in a warm atmosphere. The food was sublime, I highly recommend the butter chicken. I can still feel the taste of the creamy sauce on my taste buds Very nice discovery for me!
