Kyoto Restaurant serves authentic and original dishes made mostly with ingredients directly imported from Japan. Ingredients are delivered daily, and each dish is prepared with care and meticulous handling. Customers are welcome to order online for take out & UberEats or to enjoy in person our selection of sushis, teriyaki dishes, and many others.
The best sushi in town! Fresh and super delicious It’s not all you can eat but worth it
A small and cozy restaurant but the sushis was delicious! The menu has some unique choices (maki and hosomaki) that can't be find elsewhere. We'll definitively going back to try the rest of the menu
hidden gem. been going there for decades. authentic sushi. very high quality ingredients down to the rice. Once you order from there, you won’t like other sushi places. You have been warned.
$56 for whatever we have in the photo. Ingredients contain only cucumber avocado imitation carb meat and a tiny bit of salmon. Loose rice and the huge uncut piece also shows lack of experience and it wouldn’t match the price. Service is average. Not recommending and won’t go again.
We have been regulars to this great place for more than 7 years, yesterday was our recent visit, and contradictory to some negative comments, the freshness, quality and taste get better every time. Keep it going.
Kyoto has been our to go sushi place in the whole Montreal. The quality is the best we found among many and we do return regularly for take out. We love the salmon salad and Hokkaido, among many of our favourites
I recently dined here and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and calming, setting the perfect tone for our meal. Each piece was meticulously crafted, showcasing the freshest ingredients and expert technique. The variety of rolls and nigiri offered something for every palate, from classic favorites to inventive creations that pushed the boundaries of traditional sushi. Everything was delicious and Definitely coming back!
I highly recommend this place for special occasions. They are consistent in their preparation and the rolls always taste amazing. The way the rice is prepared is a key part of what makes sushi so delicious and Kyoto does it perfectly with just the right amount of vinegar/sugar. Combine that with their great fish and high quality ripe avocados = a real special treat :)
Sweet, cozy! The service was great and food very tasty and generous.
Ok but not that good quality as what i paid, too much rice as a sushi restaurant, somewhere like sushi shop or fastfood maybe..... Parking: Not bad for parking on Thursday night
Very tasty sushi and salads! Good service, well, a very nice waiter. A large selection of dishes, you can see the entire cooking process. Small and very cozy place!
Best sushi in Montreal
One of the best sushi spots in ville saint laurent
Good neighborhood sushi restaurant. Very good service. Good portions
Delicious food
Small restaurant to discover, the food is delicious
It s super delicious
The restaurant is clean and cozy. The sushi is fresh and delicious. Two people ordered 42(?) pieces and we were very full. I look forward to going again next time.
Great food and service, really appreciate, food is fresh and delicious.
Good food, fast and courteous service. The taste is there and I must come back again to check the consistency. But nice surprise so far. Need to improve on the water filling though. Verdict : definitely give it a try. Came back again in April 2022 and still good. Came again in August 2023, still good. Tried again in January 2024. I think is going towards a 5**** soon. Came back again in March 2024 still great. Came back again in May 2024 and still the same quality. Again in June 2024 still good. Again in July 2024. I tried octopus salad and would NOT recommend - very chewy. It deserves 5 stars, just for the effort they put so will raise my 4 to 5. Keep up the good job.
Really fresh and tasty sushis. Small and cozy place with an excellent service.
We had the best service. The sushi is very delicious. Well go there later.
The best
Best sushi place in Montreal hands down.
Very classy
Update: Ive been coming to this sushi restaurant for years and I wanted to give it another try recently. I ordered a platter for take out and all of the people who used to like Kyoto were extremely disappointed. What happened to the quality of the sushi? Too much rice Too much cucumber Too much imitation crab Under seasoned rice ... nothing was great. It was actually embarrassing to serve the sushi platter to my guest from Toronto. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I used to love this restaurant and I do still love it. However, Ive noticed that the portion of the special futomakis(geisha, Hokkaido, ..etc) got much smaller than before :( Slightly bigger than hosomaki. I thought I was the only one, but my other friends experienced the same thing recently(regular customers). Were all a bit disappointed unfortunately. The beauty of this restaurant was good quality and reasonable price for the size of the portions, but not anymore. Still this restaurant serves you the best quality. I love the grilled eel!! It is the best in town. I really miss dining out in this restaurant and ordering fresh Otoro and uni. Hopefully all their special menus will come back soon.
Excellent sushi. The sushi as larger than your typical sushi.
the best sushi Ive ever had and the people are very friendly we will come back when we return to Montreal Food
Nice atmosphere and the service was fast went there for take out :)
The sushi, the salads, Kara age, takoyaki, tempura, gyoza all on point. All delicous! Would recommend without hesitation. Keep up the great work.
We have been coming here for years, but sadly watched the quality deteriorate over the pandemic and never recover. It s still fairly tasty but the presentation is an embarrassment to sushi chefs. We really hope they are able to improve, as we have lots of fond memories here and it was our top choice for years.
The food is very fresh, great quality ingredients, the place is so cozy, the staff very gentle. I really recommend it. Everything I ordered was excellent!!
Best sushi in Montreal! Its so fresh it melts in your mouth and they are very tasty! Must try this hidden gem! Absolutely delicious!
Used to be good quality sushi but not anymore! We had to throw half of our order in garbage last night, too much rice and stinky fish!
The restaurant was kind enough to resolve our issue which is truly appreciated because we love the food there and other sushi places we ve tried are far below this one. So changing my review! Holidays are always hectic and one bad service experience will not deter us in coming back to this place, best sushi in MTL. We ve been regular clients for over a year and are coming all the way from West Island to get sushis at this restaurant. Tonight when arriving to pick up our order we were told it wasn t confirmed « on their end » and wouldn t be ready for another 1h30. My husband showed the confirmation email with the pick up time we had received (he was actually 10 min late to pick up the food) but it didn t change anything. Nothing was proposed to make up for this. Really disappointed of this customer service, we can t wait an extra 1h30 for no reason. And since we have to drive 45 min to get these sushis I guess we won t order there anymore, not knowing if our order is confirmed « on their end » .. This was supposed to be our treat for our last meal with family visiting from far away, disappointment is at an all time high.
Honestly, not sure why this place has high reviews. The sushi were quite basic, the sushi rice was overcooked. For the quality, this food was overpriced. Atmosphere and service were nice, but as a Japanese food enthusiast, this is not authentic and my meal was a disappointment.
Disappointed. Spent $200 on take-out without wasabi and ginger.
Excellent food, great experience, fresh food and amazing discovery
Delicious food. Fresh and tasty. Will definitely go back.
Excellent sushi ! But pricy. Never disappointed.
Well come back and comment, thats for sure.
Had family platter for four and it was amazing. Very up a notch compare to other sushi places.
Really good and fresh sushis. Generous with the fish portion
2022 update: The pandemic elicited many changes in this place and the results are unfortunately not good. The prices have literally doubled in the last two years, the pieces are thinner and falling apart, it tastes less fresh and doesnt have the family run feeling it used to have. I used to say that this was the best $$ sushi in Montreal but this is now one of the weakest $$$ sushi places in Montreal. It makes me so sad that I wont be able to have what they offered a few years ago.
We went for dinner on Christmas day and it was great! The sushi pieces were very big and flavourful. Service was great. 68 pieces for 162$ was enough for 2 couples. Would recommend this restaurant
Very slow for take out & over priced. 65 Pieces for 177$ !!
The food is very good but the service is a little slow, still we enjoyed it alot. It is not cheap in general Food
I highly recommend this restaurant the food was absolutely amazing thanks to chef Nelson and the service was great!
Authentic and delicious!
it was perfect
We absolutely love this place. We typically eat on site once every month or two, and the food is always on point. My personal favorite sushi is their Geisha (highly recommended if you like eel) and the Takoyakis are the best weve had in town.
The sushi was. Fresh delicious Also great customer service .
Kyoto is a cozy and inviting family run Japanese restaurant that offers outstanding quality sushi with fresh and high-quality ingredients. The menu is extensive and very authentic food, I recommend trying the crab tempura (Kyoto) and to order the kyoto special for a taste of Japan. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff provide attentive and friendly service. Its a must-visit for sushi lovers
My favorite sushi in Montreal.
Best sushi in Montreal. Gooey rice and fresh tasting. High quality sushi in my opinion.
The best place in Montreal. The sushi was delicious and fresh. A great service given by the young gentleman. I highly recommend this restaurant !
My favorite sushi place in Saint Laurent. Weve been regulars here for over 20 years now and the owner/chef is always attentive. Everything is delicious. Because of its popularity, the sushi orders may take longer as the chef is juggling the dining room orders and take out orders. The wait is worth it.
This sushi is really one of the best in the city. I love the taste. Everything feels and tastes very fresh, and you can feel each ingredient in every bite. The staff is very kind, you can eat there or take it to go.
Great!
We re from Vancouver which is deemed the sushi city of Canada and whenever we visit Mtl we come here without fault. It s the best sushi I ve ever had.
The BEST sushi I had in years. I will definitely go back and bring family and friends
Had a lovely meal, it s a bit far from my neighbourhood but would go again, though there s no photo we also had a korroke too and it was great!
Kyoto knows very well how to satisfy a sushi craving. They are very generous with their quantity of fish, without forgetting the freshness of their products. New visit 2023: Still excellent. Warm and fast service, hearty sushi that melts in your mouth. Their cozy decor makes everything a great experience.
Best Unagi you can get
Became extremely expensive for nothing, since the old chef is no longer there, the menu has been updated with a lot of cheap fried food, it was a quality restaurant, now its just value for money. Damage...
Best in Montreal
One of my favorite place. Always fresh and delicious! Pricey but worth it. A bit disappointed that they removed the sashimi combo.
What makes a sushi restaurant phenomenal? The freshness of their sashimis and the sensational sensations you get when you put that maki in your mouth. Honestly hands down one of Montreal s gems if you want to get exquisite sushi. Value to money is there. I had the salmon sashimi, the Minato (oh my god) and the Flocon as maki rolls. And the service is really good too!
The makis are delicious. The ingredients are tasty and fresh. The best miso soup I have tasted in Japanese restaurants here in Montreal.
Great place! Love the delicious & delicate dragon eyes, as well as the Crab leg tempura! The wasabi, I love it, so fresh and just right!
I ve been a fan for a long time, and they never disappoint!
One of the best sushi I have ever tasted. fresh and authentic. very friendly workers.
The best sushi in Montreal!
Go out of your way if you want to enjoy good sushi. Not much else to say about it.
The best sushi anyone can ever eat.
Not tasty at all. Very regular and definitely it s not worth the money.
Excellent sushi place Been meaning to go for a long time and it didn t disappoint Will come again for sure .. went back with my wife and it was even better
Excellent quality and very good service. The place is very authentic. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I ordered to bring 6 Maiko makis: made of pollock, tobiko, shrimp, and cucumbers, it was freshly made and succulent! The restaurant is nice and clean. I also bought a small pink bottle of creamy and naturally sweet Sayuri Nigori Sake at the SAQ, a delight!
Best sushi restaurant in mtl
The place is small but the atmosphere was alright. The servie was excellent however the food was expensive for what it was. A definite downgrade from what it was years ago. The rolls were not rolled perfectly and the fish was pretty much average but is expensive.
Excellent
Ive been here many times but this is the first time i order takeout. The sushi tasted good, as usual, but the bag they used was some kind of thin recyclable bag that couldnt withstand the sharpness of the takeout boxes. After a while, the bag was torn apart as you can see in my pic
Hokkaido, Geisha, and K-ba were delicious. Takoyaki and kara-age were disappointing. Takoyaki did not need panko and had the texture of arancini. Fried chicken was bland and not crispy. The wasabi sauce was a nice touch though. Food
Tasty
Good sushi. I got back after a while and their menu changed. I hope they will bring back the softshell crabs tempura and the boat
Best sushi restaurant in Montreal. Amazing quality and service. The fish is very fresh and they take pride in what they do and it shows. Thank you very much Josh.
Picked up for dinner tonight! Excellent. Fresh and generous with their portions of fish & vegetables. Rice was perfect, nice and sticky! Will order again 100%
Best sushi ever! I cant eat sushi anywhere else !
Sushi at Kyoto is delicious, best one in Montreal. We have been going there for years and it never disappoints us.
Still the best in town!
Best Sushi Place in all of Montreal
Only quality! Great restaurant!
Very fresh sushi! I really love this place
Ordered take out from this place several times in the past year and always impressed by the service, quality of the food and overall experience! Highly recommended and look forward to being able to dine in at some point.
My boyfriend and I have tried many sushi places, and we somehow always go back to Kyoto sushi. They really have the best sushis and prices are not bad either!
Very tasty sushis, my favourite in mtl!
I don t understand how this place has such an amazing rating it s totally overrated, I ve had much better sushi in Montreal and cheaper. The chef special has way too much crème cheese and the quality isn t good. Weak ingredients and for a basic platter much more expensive then other places. If you don t know what real sushi tastes like then maybe this place is for you.
The best sushi ever, dont hesitate to try you wont regret it
The best sushi in quality/price ratio. In love with the service and quality of ingredients. A must for true sushi fans.
Really good quality sushi. My go-to place to get sushi !
Having eaten in several sushi places in Montreal, this one is by far the best in town. Super courteous service, small dining room and very close to the Metro (3-5 Min). The whole experience is in the first bite. The texture, temperature and assembly of the sushi make it a unique experience in my opinion. Despite its slightly higher price, the quality is there. I have been there a few times to evaluate the whole experience and each time is a new experience and a new surprise. Being rich I would eat this every day
Best sushi Ive ever had! Everything was super fresh, tasty and visually successful.
Staff is so amazing!!
Tasty, but I found piece of plastic wrap inside
Very happy with my order! I had the flowering roll and the salmon salad and it was delicious. Very courteous welcome, friendly staff, in short I recommend.
Great sushi, even the vegan option available were great and delicious. A definite order if you are in the area. Staff is friendly and efficient. Customer service is amazing Highly recommended!
Delicious! Very fresh and tasty
We have been trying lots of different sushi place and we were never satisfied. I found Kyoto sushi by accident and it was absolutely delicious. After having sushi in Japan it s hard to find a place decent. But from now on, Kyoto will be our sushi spot.
Probably one of the best sushi places in Montreal. I have been coming here for many years now, the menu has evolved to add different combinations although it is still quite traditional. Quality is always great (fresh ingredients). One of favourite rolls is the Sao Pablo. It can be expensive but to me, it has always been worthy. I wish they were open longer hours during the week!
Best sushi in town by far. Great service everything is always freshly made. Highly recommend
Ive been to Kyoto twice and am always really happy with the food and experience. The sushi is always very fresh and delicious and its a lovely little place to enjoy a nice dinner! We had the wonderful dragon boat in 2019 (first photo) which sadly isnt available anymore. In 2022 we had the SK which is amazing, cannot recommend it enough!
The sushi is always fresh and delicious, orders are ready on time, smiling and welcoming staff, in short, no false notes!
Best sushi in Town!
We ordered them to enjoy them in the comfort of our home. The sushi is exquisite, and you can feel all the freshness, delicacy and know-how of the chef in every bite. The prices are a little high, but you quickly forget that, as the sushi is so high quality. As far as customer service is concerned, they are really helpful and very attentive.
Sushi was very well prepared. Large pieces and delicious. Their Kyoto tempura is just amazing.
This place was recommended to us by friends and truly a gem. Never before have we had such fresh made sushi. The quality and freshness of the food is outstanding making this sushi experience the best so far. The staff was very kind and warm and even if we had order for take out the restaurant place is very nice and felt cozy. We ordered the M2 - For 2+Dragon eyes And will definitively come back for more :)
Above par sushi and especially the really fresh sashimi
Good service and great quality food.
Always an Excellent sushi experience at Kyoto! Quality produce executed with finesse and exceptional service staff. They make us feel as comfortable as possible and gave special attention for our baby. Vegetarian options: They can offer many options Parking: Street parking, usually busy Kid-friendliness: They have only one high chair though. No changing table for babies. Wheelchair accessibility: Incline to get in, no steps! Easy.
Clean and simple, attentive staff, fast service, and excellent sushi. Its my go-to sushi shop in ville St-Laurent.
My first time at Kyoto; to start the vegan gyoza and takoyaki with octopus, both delicious chose Mobydick, Pescador and Flocon for main course, great taste, beautiful presentation and fresh It takes a lot to impress me with sushi, this place was perfect great service
Our favourite Sushi place in Montreal for their quality, amazing variety and so good! Reasonably priced for the quality you get We usually always take it to go
Beautiful atmosphere for a dinner! The place is relatively small so book before coming to guarantee a place. The food is very good, great variety. In terms of price it is quite expensive but the portion is large. To try.
omagad! *drools* that s all i have to say
Best sushi in Montreal
Excellent food Ive been going here for years and have never been disapointed. Food
The quality of the sushi is very stable You can taste the freshness of the sushi
great restaurant
By far the best sushi in Ville Saint-Laurent. Fast, friendly and prompt service. Excellent quality. Guaranteed freshness. Super happy with the food. Recommended place without hesitation.
The flavors and textures were amazing and the price is reasonnable given the amazing quality of the food. This place is a gem!
This a hidden gem. Not located in a fancy neighborhood, or downtown. But hands down the best sushi in the city. Service may be slow, because the chef takes time to prepare all the dishes. So call in advance to place your order and you wont be disappointed.
I dont usually like shrimp, but the shrimp here is to die for, to give you an idea of how good the ingredients are here. Assembled, these ingredients make for beautiful and delicious sushi, the best ones Ive had in my life. Skip the all-you-can-eats!
Sushi was good.
Best sushi in town and the staff are so nice. I really can say how good it is
If you re in Ville St-Laurent and need a sushi fix, look no further. This is the place. Heck, this can be a destination spot. Excellent, fresh and tasty sushis. Authentic, warm hospitality and unpretentious service. Just wonderful.
Best sushis in town!!
Delicious Japanese dishes selection. You can conveniently order online through their website and receive confirmation and time estimate.
I feel so very lucky to have this place in my neighbourhood! Absolutely fantastic, fresh and the best quality sushi. Superior to many of the more fancy places in Montreal. If you love good sushi, just do it, you wont be disappointed. I recommend ordering ahead on their website, its easy to use and theyre very organized.
Amazing sushi from this restaurant, I strongly recommend it! We ordered the platter for 4 and I was surprising about of food. One think I do want to note is that the sushi wasn t rolled extremely tight and in a very neat fashion so a can still be don in terms of presentation and uniform bites sizes but that s was over come by how good it tasted! I recommend
Sushi Kyoto is a step above the best.
Fresh and delicious.
Good varied sushi platter. And excellent miso soup.
We get sushi once a month here as a treat. Its the best in town. The fish is always perfect and the rolls beautiful and tasty.
Food is always good and fast, staff are always nice and friendly. My go-to place in the neighborhood.
We love this place, it is THE sushi place in Ville Saint-Laurent offering great fresh makis, the rice and rolls are perfect! Not too soft, not too dry, just fresh and tasty!
One of the best sushis in Montreal!
Freshest sushi in Mtl for a pretty good price/quality ratio
Fresh and taste so good
Ordered on Uber the sushi are just bad disappointed
Worth the wait
I ve been going to this sushi restaurant for years. The service and the taste never disappoints.
Quality and freshness is definitely there.
Good price for the amazing quality, and EXCELLENT unagi dishes.
excellent !!! tasty sushi rolls , fresh scallops from Hokkaido japan . Everything is delicious , a bit on the pricey side but very worth it in my opinion... this is now my go to spot for Japanese related food
Their sushi were so fresh and so original. Each piece was an explosion of beautiful texture and tastes. I usually like to choose all my individual pieces because I find in the ready made platters you dont always get the best variety. However this time I was very pleased with all the choices in the Kyoto special. I would definitely get this again. Hokkaida roll kingsman roll and geisha were among my favorites. This is a must try if you re in the ville saint Laurent area.
Nice cozy sushi restaurant. Geisha roll for life.
The best sushi in town. Always fresh. Always made to order. Great service!
Really top notch quality sushi. Fair pricing, clean, good packing.
100% recommend! definitely one of the best sushi places Ive been to since my trip to Japan
The absolute best in Montreal
Very fresh and delicious sushi. The staff is nice and polite. Beware of the waiting time for the busy nights, it could take up to un hour. I hope they consider opening their dining room very soon.
Expensive (hence 4*) but sushi is really fresh and authentic. Sushi rice is seasoned just enough to not interfere with the flavour of the fish and is not too compact which is a key point to an authentic sushi. Edit: the price is actually okay if you pick up. I didnt see that they charge a horrendous surplus on ubereats. I will only get take out from now on.
Best sushi in Montreal. I do not eat sushi anywhere else
I agree with another review mentioning that the price is expensive, I have noticed that it was much cheaper pre-Covid. I use to order the Dragon boat but it is no longer an option on their menu which makes me sad. Pieces seem to be smaller than in the past... perhaps they changed owners? The staff seems new.
Probably the best sushi in Saint Laurent. Wide choice of very tasty, fresh and delicious sushi. Fabulous as always. Great takeout, friendly and warm staff made sure that Covid health standards were met, you feel safe.
Fresh and delicious. This is the only place I d order for Sushi.
Insane place... its perfect so fresh and delicious. You have to order here! Tnx
Excellent fresh sushi, superb delicious poke, fast and courteous service. Highly recommended!
Great tasting food, wasabi and ginger are actually tasty here, excellent quality overall! Return customer again and again!
Best sushi in terms of fish quality and makis
I have high expectations for sushi, but Kyoto meet all my needs, creativity and fresh for this quality fair price, highly recommend.
I love this place! The sushis are always fresh and delicious. It is on the pricier side though, but I don t mind paying a bit more for quality. What you see on their menu is literally what you re getting (they do only pick up or delivery right now) and the service is amazing.
Ive never been this impressed by the quality of suishi, the best ratio of rice and fish. Most places they just add so much rice and just a bit of suishi. It will be my go to suishi place from now on
Best) quality food and quality service !
Little mom and pop shop, been going there since it opened up. I find that it got better with time and now Its by far the best sushi place for me. If you are into the all you can eat then this place is not for you. A bit more expensive then other sushi places around but worth it.
The best sushi in town!!! The VERY best sushi in town!!
Excellent
Best sushi in Saint-Laurent city! Their products are always super fresh and the quality is remarkable. Interesting and varied choices. Reasonable price. Super friendly staff too. A beautiful place to discover and encourage during this pandemic!
Another great food experience from Kyoto. Whether you are amateur or gastronome Sushi eater,Kyoto and the lovely people running it wont disappoint. The fish is fresh, the rice is perfect and the presentation beautiful. Josh and the Chef will treat you to an unforgettable food experience every time. If youre not into sushi their authentic Teriyakis and Japanese dishes will leave you wanting more. We miss not being able to visit with them but their take out is second to none. I am a Chef and I love Kyoto and the lovely people creating the food magic. Support your local merchants. Dusan and Linda.
A good meal. Not a fancy finesse place but rather a good neighborhood go to place. Family run business . Not a huge fish selection but I have seen uni chirashi, negi hamachi and mackerel nigiri in pictures ( info from owner : this lack of selection is due to covid) . However, I would rather have smaller selection of good quality than large selection with poor quality....these guys do it right . Tasty prepared hot meals of mainly chicken. This is a primarily a roll place for those who like rolls. Not a traditional nigiri sushi place but rather good safe bet and good takeout...worth a taste.
Owner was so nice! They helped me figure out a payment method even though I had forgot my wallet. Thank you so much it was absolutely delicious as well.
high quality, best tasting sushi i have ever had! I definitely recommend!
Best sushi place in town! Always fresh and service is impeccable.
Food quality is excellent, just be aware it is a small place, so always order in advance
the only downside is that sometimes they run out of fish a bit early and therefore cannot take any additional orders... but that is expected given that the fish is always very fresh.
This is the best sushi place in Montréal i cant wait for the dining room to be open again and visit it again.
Great food all you need to know
My favourite sushi place in Montreal. Sushis were fresh and tasty :) Good service - the staffs are lovely. I highly recommend this place for any sushi lover !!
