The more you are, the cheaper it gets. One of the best fried chicken spots. I recomment their seafood stew and the honey butter chicken.

Gamjatang and Chicken feet are so delicious, my favorites but the customer service is awful you have to raise your hand to order & pay bills, ask for more water & napkins & extra plates. The owner should fire guy waiters they re always chatting behind the bar, never come to quality check Oh i waited 10 mins for ice, guess what my coke was WARM lamo

Not only does the fried chicken taste good, it is also cheap! We always go as a group of 4+ people and order plenty of chicken (has to take home sometimes), and flavored soju (if available). Never costed us more than $30 all-in. They changed their menu recently a bit so some chicken flavors and side dishes were replaced with new ones. Well see how the new stuffs are.

Good chicken, I recommend the butter honey chicken. Its a classic, you cant go wrong with it. Dont get the baby powder on your chicken. Thank me later. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options available

I have visited this restaurant on several occasions and today I recommended it to my friends. We went to dinner and received terrible service. They made a mistake with our order and when we asked, there was no apology at any time (which surprises me) Very disappointing.

This restaurant is simply amazing. The fried chicken is perfectly crispy, perfectly seasoned, and the flavors are out of this world. Every bite was pure joy! The place is spotlessly clean, which is always reassuring. The atmosphere is really pleasant: a nice combination of music, decor and friendly staff. You feel good there as soon as you walk through the door. I recommend this place 100%. If youre looking for a memorable dining experience, look no further!

The food was amazing and the waiters were very nice!! I tried their army stew last time and I loved it. Its perfect for the colder weather. This time we got the beef nabe and the Bul Galbi (bulgogi flavored fried chicken), and it did not disappoint! Beef nabe was very a clean but flavorful soup while the fried chicken stayed crispy even when it was swimming in sauce! Highly recommend!

We come here every time we visit Montreal. Their fried chicken is very crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside . The teobokki and fish cake soup were amazing!

Nice bar atmosphere. I order the angry bird spicy sauce expecting a red spicy korean sauce but when it came it only taste like soy garlic sauce. I doubled check with the waitress and she confirmed it is what we order. It was not spicy at all, from a authentic korean fried chicken place I would expect the sauce be at least spicy. The wings were also tiny. The $10 baby powered fries were okay...small portions

This is truly one of my my FAVOURITE restaurants in Montreal. I highly recommend the honey butter fries and the angel onion chicken. Its a yogurt-onion sauce. So saucy and yummy!

We were mainly here for the Korean fried chicken, they have a bunch of other delicious looking dishes as well. There is a decent selection of flavors for the fried chicken. They taste great and the portions are big, with a pint of Sapporo its a nice meal.

It s not the first time I visited here with my fam or friends. The previous experiences were good but this time I was DISAPPOINTED. Good food, unfriendly service! We arrived at Chimaek at 18:30 and approximately after one hour, a young lady with dimples came to ask us if we are done. There was still food in plates and we were confused, being asked this question at this time. Moreover, we noticed that the people who came before us were still enjoying the food No one came to ask them if they were done! After being asked this question, I check with my friends and said that Yes we are done! She replied and then IMMEDIATELY started to take all the plates and clean up. After the clean up, she also asked if we are ready for bill and brought the machine for payment RIGHT AWAY! Can you believe that? This is INCREDIBLE. I m curious why we were the only group being asked? Are u trying to tell us that we should leave? Or is it because we were the only group speaking mandarin during that time (with 2 tables of people speaking Korean & other tables of people speaking English)? I ve been to many other restaurants in Montreal but this is the first time that I leave a negative comment! Your staff should LEARN how to RESPECT other people.

My favorites are angel onion chicken and spicy chicken feet rice balls that I must eat every month. I went with my friends today and was very disappointed. Not only did the price range from 22 to 25. Forget it, even the yogurt sauce on the fried chicken was pitiful. Can you imagine 10 pieces of fried chicken with just a little bit of sauce? When I ate there in April, there was still a lot of sauce, at least a little bit on each piece. Even the meat inside didnt feel cooked today. The table next door also ordered angel flavored fried chicken, but it seemed like there was a little more sauce than me, but it was still pathetic. As a seasoned fried chicken restaurant, should we do better in terms of quality control? I also asked the clerk if he could add some yogurt sauce, and the clerk said it would cost 5 Canadian dollars. Only 25 fried chicken + 5 sauce can I get a portion of fried chicken that originally cost 23. I am really disappointed with this store! I used to like his restaurant very much and would often bring friends here to eat. In addition, the baby powder my friend ordered was not delicious either. It seemed to have more powder than me, but it tasted terrible

The food is amazing here! Fried chicken is juicy and crispy and the fishcake soup was delicious. Just note that the tables are very small (especially emphasized when theres a whole gas stove on it) so you feel cramped in it. The service wasnt very attentive, you always have to call a waiter to receive service and they never come check on you. Same thing for the host, we waited 10 mins at the entrance while having a reservation and we had to call for his attention for him to come greet us

Amazing Korean food

I love summer, I love Montreal and I love this place very cute spot, the portions are genormous, we ordered a meat sashimi and honestly I felt like a lion we had to go take some shots as digesting aid.

Food is good. Selection of Soju limited at the time we dined in. Service below average (young people working). Waiters not helpful when asking questions about menu (few customers, looked in a rush). This restaurant is a little hyped for what it is.

I dine in with my friends and we ordered tteokbokki, gamjatang, sweet potatoe fries, and fried chicken Angel Onion. The next morning, me and my friends ended up with HORRENDOUS food poisoning . The food was delicious and it wasn t our first time dining there but it was our first food poisoning.

Check your garnishes if you order their soups/hotpot dishes. We found moldy garnish on a soup we ordered that I asked to be swapped out for a new one, yet now coming home I found myself with some mild food poisoning symptoms. Also our soup was missing ingredients as described on the menu, we ordered the pork bone soup with potatoes and there weren t any potatoes at all (the best part is arguably the potatoes) The chicken as ok, too much batter but it was perfectly cooked. Chicken was tender just like any good Korean fried chicken place. Slight disappointment, but maybe I ordered wrong and should have went with their higher volume/turnover dishes.

It is a good place to eat, cheap and delicious, but I recommend eating at the restaurant because when you order takeout they dont serve the same, it is worth going and on the weekend I recommend making a reservation Parking: Be careful with the parking because one day we went to dinner, we parked in a private parking lot and when we returned to the car we realized that the glass of our car was broken, so that dinner ended up costing us very expensive!!!

If you are looking for some authentic Korean food, this is probably the right place for you. We ordered dalgbal (chicken feet) and yangnyeom fried chicken, it was a lot of food for two ppl. Dalgbal came with rice and seaweed, you can make small rice balls and eat them together with the sauce. I know chicken feet is not for everyone, but its tastier than it sounds! ;) Yangnyeom chicken was good, but it wasnt exactly what I expected. It was too sweat for us. They also have a patio on the top floor if you want to sit outside with the good weather.

A late review for one of my favorite fried chicken stores . Their portions are great, their fried chicken are fried super well that it stays crunchy! And, the saucing is generous. It s important to note that the different sauce and topping options are on the sweeter and saltier side personally. Their baby powder is also like a powdered sugar and parmesan mix if people are curious. That said, their options are very creative, there s fried chicken with tteokbokki or ramen with seaweed. There s also unlimited of radish pickles. It s important to note for spicy lovers that most of the spicy options aren t too spicy, more on the level of sweet and sour. There s not much non-alcoholic drink options as well compared to their alcohol selection, but they re still updating their menu, so hope this changes. But, definitely a great get together place with friends. Note that like, three plates might be enough for four people! One plate just for a person, well you re getting some nice leftovers to bring back.

Ordered the bulgogi fried chicken from here several times. Recently its noticeable that the meat is not fresh, I really like the way how they prepare fried chicken, hopefully they take more attention to the food safety.

I honestly cant say enough good things about this restaurant, they are top tier. The food is excellent every single time we go, super affordable and so tasty! Its made better by the wonderful staff who are so professional, speedy and helpful. Specifically, the taller staff member who usually greets us at the door and always dresses impeccably, the staff member with dark hair and tattoos and the girl with short dark hair, I wish I knew their names! Their service is always exceptional. Our favourite dishes are the Padak and Yangyeom boneless chicken ....so good. We came in with a very large group last night, and as a server myself I know how difficult that can be to manage. They pulled it of without a hitch! Well done.

Despite the dining area not being at full capacity, there was a noticeable delay in the staffs acknowledgment of our arrival, followed by a prolonged wait to place our order. The culinary experience, however, stood in stark contrast to the service. The dishes we eventually received were nothing short of delightful, offering a testament to the kitchens prowess. A great find in Montreals downtown area. The portions are enormous for the price. The Ttoekbokki was delicious and spicy. The fried chicken was amazing, both dishes were well seasoned, the skin was crispy while the meat was still quite juicy. The ambiance was vibrant and well decorated with names on the wall.

I love the decor and they also let you write on their brick walls with some chalk as a little activity. The chicken was juicy and delicious. It costed about 25$ but one serving was enough for two people.

The staff are always friendly and their service is amazing! This is one of the Gana locations, about a 30 seconds to 1 minutes walk from guy-concordia metro, st-mathieu exit!

Came with a friend for dinner on a Tuesday and the place was packed. They put us on a virtual waiting list that texted a few minutes before our turn. The wait was approximately 45 minutes which was absolutely bonkers for a Tuesday night. The service was cold but at least it was attentive. The waiting staff had no interest in smiling or exchanging pleasantries. We ordered the onion rings, sweet potato fries and one of the sauced fried chickens. The Onion rings were below average, akin to what you might get at a fast food restaurant. The sweet potato fries were good, but again nothing to rave about. The chicken was fried really well, but the sauce was waaay too sweet. I actually didnt like it. Maybe I would like it more with a different sauce, but I was off put by the one we had. Overall the experience was just ok. Id be inclined to try it again but Im not really up to waiting that long. There are great Korean fried chicken places around without needed to be subject to just a long line up.

The portion sizes are great for the price although they didn t put enough powder on the chicken even though it s called baby powder which left half of the chicken plain. For the sauce of the Yangnyeom chicken it tasted like cinnamon which was disappointing. The gamjatang had way to much cabbage at this point just make an entire mountain of it. The meat wasn t tender enough so I don t recommend getting it. The atmosphere was great and loved how spacious it was. If you come here I recommend to get the baby powder fried chicken. It would be great if they made a plate with all of the different flavours so I know which one I would like to get next time.

I would give it a 4.5 stars. Huge quantities for the price. Ideally, you would want to reserve in advance as there is a lineup if you re a walk-in. We were two and it was our first time so we wanted to try as much as we can, but i recommend taking only an appetizer and an order of chicken. We had the Korean Army Soup, the Padak and the Yangnyeom Chicken. As you can see, the portions are huge. Our favourite was the Padak, the sauce was not too overwhelming and the green onions complimented the chicken really well. The Yangnyoem was a little too sweet for our liking, it tasted like a dessert but some might like it. The soup was great and it had a lot of meat and vegetables. The restaurant at night has a nice and chill vibe with K-Pop playing in the back and some nice blue and purple lights. It s a place that you should come if you re at least 4, so you can enjoy as many dishes as possible. The service is also pretty nice, no complaints there.

They told me that the waiting time is about 25min. I register my name on waiting list and left. But never get called. Returned after 1hour waiting. Tebokki for take out, it takes us 5 minutes in microwave to heat it up. Everything is cold even we put the soup inside, the noodle and fish cake is not ready to eat right away. No clear instructions given when we got food on hand. Restaurant should instruct customers otherwise its unbelievable to receive food like this. P/s: waiting time 25-30 minutes, i came inside and ask for orders , staff should pay attention to customers more.

For the sides, I ve tried the truffle fries, sweet potatoes with honey and onion rings and I wasn t impressed. Overall, I had a good experience both times I went so far. The staff is nice and the place is aesthetically pleasing, especially at the entrance. I definitely recommend this place to grab some korean fried chicken.

My friend made a reservation and went first, but we were stopped by the waiter when we entered. Then the girl who took the table quickly asked us to come up. Later, the waiter also apologized, and it was not a big problem. This place is sometimes super busy but we were seated immediately on Sunday. The fried chicken is SO good and there are tons of options for chicken flavors. We also got seafood stew and a cold conch dish that was fantastic. Also very nice bathrooms.

Among the Korean restaurants Ive been to in Montreal, I can say that this is the best restaurant that is moderately hip, has a good atmosphere, has delicious food, and isnt too expensive (the reason I spent a lot of money was on the alcohol). The restaurant is great, but unreachable. Reservations online are only for a table of 4. Wanting to reserve a table for 6, I have tried calling more than 10 times (no answer), left a voice message, emailed, and sent a message on Instagram. No one has gotten back to me. It s great for them that they re so popular they clearly don t care about taking reservations but it makes for a very frustrating customer experience.

Very nice experience, the staff was friendly and proactive. The atmosphere was nice and very cozy, not to load even if the restaurant was pretty full, which was nice to have conversations without shouting. We tried the fried spam which was nice and new to us and the honey butter (if your not feeling spicy it s the perfect sweet sticky sauce) which was perfect and just a nice touch.

Truffle chicken is pretty good. The table needs more space. People beside us are too loud, those are gaming and shouting.

I like the chicken feet menu. The spicy is good enough. I also really like the chicken bul galbi. Its crispy, there is some sweet on it and not spicy. The conch salad also great. It was spicy though. Becareful of the chilli there. I like all of my ordered food.

First time at Chimaek Gana restaurant food was good,the atmossphere is nice and the price is great for the amount u get so i recommend this restaurant.

We ordered seafood soup, and specifically told the waiter for minimal spicyness. But when we got our order, there was a thick layer of red chili oil floating on top of the soup and obviously not minimal spicyness. The waiter was sorry for what we received, but he said he cannot return it, he mentioned that he already wrote note to the kitchen, but maybe they forgot. In the end, he brought us more broth to dilute the soup. The fried chicken was good, also you can refill the pickled daikon and pickled onion for free.

The place is really good and the food is stunning, amazing. The only con is if you have any restrictions: they dont have a vegetarian menu and wont be able to make any vegetarian plate since every is cooked with meat, so you will be stuck with the entrances (which is absolutely good!). The chicken is amazing, specially the Baby Powder. All people there receive you with a smile in the face. We arrived without reserve and we, a group of 7, needed to wait 35min, but it really worth it!!!

This is easily a top tier restaurant in all aspects. Service is impeccable. The food is very good (angel onion chicken!!). Very good hangout place. The atmosphere is great and clean.

Its really embarrassing. I can give a one-star negative review to a restaurant I havent even eaten in. Two waiters stood in front of me without asking me a word. The service really needs to be improved.

Bad service.

I went here multiple times because the fried chicken is really delicious and affordable , the service is quite good. But I hope they can maintain or improve the quality and the quantity of foods. I feel both of these standards are going down by each time I come again

Mozzarella sticks were underwhelming

Quantity and quality ratio is there. We ordered 3 meals and 4 shots and we were 5 so each one of us paid $17 + tx + tips. It was delicious. I recommend the chicken with cheese. The original was sweet so I dont know Im more into salty. Next time, Ill be back to taste other flavours. The atmosphere is dark and I cant see well in the dark but I love the decorations.

Awesome korean fried chicken spot. The portions are huge and the price is decent for what we get. The chicken itself is moist and the batter is crispy, the sauces are amazing. The tteokbokki is also great and the servers are friendly. There is a good amount of space and two stories so there are usually enough places also.

Nice dark ambience, chicken was fried perfectly. The sauces could use work but thats personal preference. The spiciest options were not all that spicy.

My recent experience with Chimaek Gana was a disaster. We ordered their fried chicken, and it was awful. The chicken was swimming in so much oil that when I cut it, it spurted out like a fountain. It was incredibly heavy, making it hard to eat. To make matters worse, after eating it, I got really sick. I had a bad stomachache, threw up a lot, and even got a bit of food poisoning. I couldnt sleep all night because of how sick I felt. This was more than just a bad meal; it was a terrible experience. Chimaek Gana seriously needs to improve their food quality. The service however was really great, the waitress was so attentive and friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: It is not wheelchair accessible

Waited so long, no server attended us

The portions are huge and the vibe is def there, super busy on a Friday night too. So many choices of delicious sounding friend chicken options. The chicken is juicy and cooked to perfection but the flavour was just not there. The honey butter tasted mostly like garlic and some weren t even coated in flavour so I was just plain fried chicken. The Cajun cheese flavour was good too but I just wish it was coated with more of it. Service was great and the refillable pickled radish side dish was a great pair with the chicken.

Super cute location, service was nice. As for the fried chicken, we had the Original and the spicy one(angry bird). The chicken was crispy outside and super tender/ juicy inside but the flavor did not give what they were suppose to give. Why is the Original sweet? We were confused... For 2 sec, we were like maybe its the Honey butter they serve us?... It was way too sweet after 2 pieces you are over it. The spicy one wasnt spicy at all...Disappointment... it tasted more like BBQ sauce somehow??? As side, we had the conch salad it was tasty and Spicyyyyy but I wish there were more conch in there tbh. The price pretty decent 74ish for 2 people

The food was really good, and the servers were super nice. They accomodated us when we wanted to add one more person :) Unfortunately, for take-out, they gave us carton bowls and said that we could put soup inside. On my way home, the soup PIERCED THROUGH the bowl (like a very big hole lol) and leaked in the bag, so the bag suddenly ripped and everything inside fell on the ground. We kept the fried chicken, but we had to throw out the soup because it was pouring out of the bowl like a waterfall lmao. I actually think the situation is funny, but I recommend you ask for plastic cups/bowls if you want to take the rest of the soup home haha

Portion is real big

This is real, authentic Korean food, but not the stuff that you typically get. It s not really fusion, but they really don t have Bulgogi or Galbi. They have a lot more off the beaten path menu items. Our waitress seem to be fresh off the boat from Korea, which made for a very cool vibe.

Nice atmosphere and service. Waiters are attentive and helpful. The fried chicken is really good and is a good portion for its price. The sides such as fries are pretty basic but its a good portion. The spicy soup is pretty spicy so beware. Definitely recommend going there. I would suggest reserving online if you plan to go. Also note that the tables are for two hours.

It was by surprise that we discovered that the restaurant la pizzella (Italian restaurant) no longer exists at 2080 Rue St-Mathieu in Montreal.......SURPRISE....SURPRISE.... it is now a Korean restaurant. The Chimaek Gana who lives at 2080 Rue St-Mathieu. Despite our desire to taste dishes Italian this evening and well we tasted Korean dishes for the first time. The warmest welcome and all smiles, the most professional service Our young server took the time to explain to us the different dishes on the menu as well as their preparation....Thank you for your excellent service. We found the food excellent and tasty. What a delight in the mouth..........In the end we didnt regret anything about this meal. To visit on your list, a must.
