Some of the best beef pho that I've tried in Montreal.
We came across the restaurant while walking by as soon as we walked in. It felt comfortable. All the food we ordered was very delicious.
I'm Vietnamese but I couldn't imagine that my homeland's specialties are delicious in this overseas place, The staffs were very friendly and enthusiastic. I have returned to Vietnam but still feel nostalgic, i wish i have a chance to come back Montreal to try another foods in restaurant .
Pho both was very beefy and tasty, lots of meat. However, I prefer chili oil, which they didn't offer. Fast service too.
Our original dinner spot was full, and out of convenience we tried here. The food was delicious and came really fast. We had tea, beef pho, chicken skewers, and fried banana dessert. Service was kind of robotic but that's fine. The cleanliness and style is what's expected for the area, they really need a renovation, or at least a kick pull on the bathroom door. Over all it was a satisfying experience.
We passed in front of this restaurant quite a few times as we live nearby. we were looking for something different to eat so we decided to give it a try. Actually Lia had already been with some colleagues from her previous employment. The interior decor is quite simple, the menu heavily favours combo options . We decided to go with the crispy chicken and rice as well as the pho. Service was OK. We kind of wish that we felt more welcome. Accessing the restaurant by foot is quite easy. Parking is a different story. if you’re lucky you may find street parking on Saint Catherine St. otherwise there are a few parking lots available in the area.
I was highly impressed with the quality of the food. The vietnamese pork chop with white rice was pretty good. The runny fried egg really adds this authentic feel to it. The fried banana was just ok. The service was a little bit slow as the place was packed with customers going in and out at a good pace.
The staff was friendly and the service was fast. Our soup arrive fresh and hot. It’s a family restaurant, very original Vietnamese pho restaurant. Our orders come with free hot tea. There’s only street parking. They accept cash and credit.
Wheelchair accessibility: Not too accessible, a step and a double door. Food
Very good, very fast service! 10/10
While walking on rue Ste-Catherine, we came across this restaurant, we entered and immediately we knew we were going to like it. The dishes we had were delicious We will come back, thats for sure.
Love this restaurant. It has stood the test of time and for food reason. Im no connoisseur, but I lived in Vietnam for 9 months 20 years ago and this restaurant just feels right. Great food, great service. I personally like the lemongrass pork chops and rice, but you cant miss no matter what you order.
Very good place for soup. Fast service, exquisite dishes.
The best Pho in town and the surrounding area, the soups and vermicelli dishes... simply delicious.
The Tonkinese soup with beef and the rice vermicelli dish with beef and rolls are delicious.
Not a friendly service but too bad its so good!!
No washroom but yummy place
Nice, uncomplicated Vietnamese restaurant with excellent service and some of the best pork Ive ever tasted in my long life
The curry chicken with vegetables was really good and the portion was generous! I tried a bit of the beef with vegetables and it was great as well Food : 5/5
Always good calm and perfect quantity
This restaurant is a classic on Ste-Catherine! I love going there before an event or show in the area. The combos are delicious as are their pho soups. The service is fast, courteous and the prices very competitive.
Amazing pho, lovely atmosphere, wait staff spoke both english and french and menus in both languages. food was quick and extremely good. Wheelchair accessibility: restaurant is all on one level but there s a bit step and narrow doors to get in
Quick ! Tasted awesome. Huge portion.
A good hot meal with somewhat quick service.
Good service, good food, good price
Great soups
I had very severe food poisoning a few months ago, directly 10-15 minutes after eating pho soup. The employees were nice but the hygiene needs to be improved. Reading the comments, I notice Im not the only one!
The Tonkinese soup was good.
I never thought I would leave such a review as I have always appreciated this restaurant but after several years, I returned and I cannot hide my total disappointment! The prices are expensive and the food was terrible. Arriving at the cash register, I politely told them that my dish was not successful and not very good (I left 3/4 of the food on the plate). The person at the checkout completely ignored my comment. I left without leaving a tip and I will not set foot in this establishment again. Its really no longer the good little restaurant I remembered...
Pretty low on flavour
The restaurant is delicious, clean and beautiful, delicious pho, spring rolls with delicious dipping sauce. In particular, Ms. Thuy, the server, is very friendly and warm... it feels like youre eating in your hometown
The food was delicious, but the service could have been much friendlier and the boss in particular was extremely unfriendly. A reason for us not to come back again.
Tasty cuisine, fragrant broth, crunchy vegetables; excellent. Rather expeditious and nonchalant service. Outdated atmosphere. The cleanliness of the toilets really leaves something to be desired.
We had the meal special: the soup was delicious with beef slices, noodles and herbs. The main dish was good, we really enjoyed the fried rolls. The chicken and beef were a bit dry. The fried banana was delicious. Service was quick.
They substantially increased their prices. No longer worth it anymore
Some of the best Vietnamese food Ive had outside of Vietnam
Service is quick and friendly. Food is always excellent but we no longer go as often. The value proposition is gone with their persistent increases. Prices are up 75% over 3-4 years for mostly noodles and rice. The price/portion on the medium size soup is, silly. Order large portions only.
I always go there when I want a good grilled pork or Pho
I really like this place, very diverse menu. Fast service, I have been going there for several years when I have classes at UQÀM
They travel from Saint-Hubert to come and eat soup and rolls. A family tradition. We love it, it s unbeatable, and what about the rollers The service is great too, the employees are so nice! And very fast!
Great place that lots of people enjoy - very busy! The pho and beef vermicelli were both very good. Highly recommend!
The best Pho soups Ive ever had, and Ive tried many because I love them. Served very quickly, with plenty of meat, flavorful broth, and fresh greens, perfectly balanced to provide absolute satisfaction. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, adding to the feeling that youre enjoying real home-cooked food!
I tried the plate of imperial rolls they were crispy and delicious! I didnt like the fish sauce, a little too sour for my taste, fast and courteous service, the prices are quite affordable!
Authentic. inexpensive Vietnamese restaurant.
Delicious pho and very friendly service. The combos are also excellent!
Nice Tonkinoise soup #8 and rolls!!!
My favorite Vietnamese restaurant Yum #27 is delicious!
For my taste, the pho ga doesnt have so much taste.
Very fast service during lunch time
Super good and affordable price
Food barely average - starters were not good, they had salad on the side which was tasteless, grilled porc was okay. Waitress didn t understand English and it was a bit frustrating to ask questions on the menu. Very disappointed by this place.
The food is good. Typical vietnamese restaurant. The server is okay. Language barrier is issue. Still good place to eat.
The service was quick and friendly! The food was delicious! The prices are excellent!
Best Pho Ive ever eaten! And their no.27 is incredible!
Ive been coming here ever since I can remember, and still make it a habit now that Im an adult. I might live elsewhere now, but if I can stop by whenever Im in Montréal, I do. The food, especially the pho, is always consistently delicious and the best pho Ive ever had. Ive tried many other places in Toronto, Ottawa/Gatineau, and Québec City, and nothing touches this place. I hope to come back here for many years to come! For those with peanut/nut allergies, they do have a peanut sauce on the menu. However, if you stick away from the spring rolls that are served with the peanut sauce, youre good. My partner and I are able to be accommodated for it very easily. Dietary restrictions: For those with peanut/nut allergies, they do have a peanut sauce on the menu. However, if you stick away from the spring rolls that are served with the peanut sauce, youre good. My partner and I are able to be accommodated for it very easily
Good service! The beef soup is very good.
Very good, hearty and inexpensive Tonkinese restaurant :) Vegetarian options: Several veggie choices
I went last night with 3 other people. Only the vegetarian person got food poisoning (staphylococcus) it kicked in for them on the walk to the bar. They were extremely ill. The kitchen failed to properly clean/sanitize their utensils or cooking area. Causing the vegetarian person in the group to be the only sick one out of us 4. Service was fast and polite Everyone at the table enjoyed the food. It did taste good. Minus the staphylococcus
Good Tonkinese soup restaurant. Courteous and fast service.
Good experience at Pho Thanh Long. The service is very fast, courteous and discreet. Tea is served free of charge. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. Several vegetarian options!
Excellent food, fast service, very small, basic look. But the flavors are worth the detour, very good and really inexpensive
Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
Expensive, rude and meh taste. They didnt give fish sauce for the pork chop rice. Its a crime. The owner woman is rude and try to make us pay for large portion on the spot because she said take away can only be purchased in large portion.
Service is super quick. The chicken and shrimp pho ordered only came with two shrimps which was kind of a letdown, but overall it was a good experience.
This restaurant is reinvented! Its the best
By far my favorite restaurant! Best broth for soup, I could drink it morning, noon and evening! No aftertaste of cinnamon and anise. Generous portion of meat, quick service! Soup number 5 for the uninitiated and dishes 26-27-28 (chicken, pork or beef) Good discovery
Their soups are delicious, as is everything they serve. Very good restaurant!
For some reason this restaurant puts some random vegetables (carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, broccoli, etc) in the Chicken Pho which is not usually found in the soup. It makes the soup taste like some strange vegetable soup instead of Pho. I thought they might do this, so I asked for no vegetables in my Pho, but they completely ignored my request and gave them to me anyway. Also, I asked for a large Pho but what they gave me was tiny. DO NOT recommend this restaurant if you want actual Vietnamese Pho.
Still as good as twenty years ago, after an evening at the bar next door. The formula does not change, and for the better. Its like coming home to a good soup.
Nice, economic and delicious food.
An institution every time we go there we are always well served the service is fast and they are very friendly and professional the food is hot and it is always delicious and the prices are very affordable
Good pick when you want some good comfort food. Often crowded but service is fast.
Ive been going to this restaurant for over 20 years...its the same servers, the decor hasnt changed and its clean. The phò broth simmers in large pots almost 24/7...its the best souoe phò in town!!
Great food but you will get your orders wrong sometimes: I come here often and the food is great. I recommend the pho and the lunch special of beef stew. However, I once got my dish with missing certain ingredients . Hopefully that was just a one time mistake. The food is awesome
I have been eating it for 35 years, the soup is extraordinary.
Its good. You also get a discount if youre a student.
I adore ! Simply excellent... Their soups are to die for, although I havent tasted them all yet... To recommend with your eyes closed!!
Literally worst pho i ever had recently, Stingy portion, dry meat, no depth in the broth and poor service. The client was 100% Caucasians (You know what this means in asian restaurant) I had to grab another after, I was travelling and went to check it out based on location and review
Since the 80s ;-)
Good place to eat!! Lovely atmosphere but the service lacks a little bit.
Very good, but small downside about the music which was very loud. We just dont want to stay long.
Amazing food at a good price.
It s Friday night and the kids have to go see their teammates theater performance. In French, they called it l improvisation. So my husband and I decided to let them eat their favorite Pho before the show. They really enjoyed it. Because we planned to go have some dumplings downtown while the kids watch the show, I came in with the kids but didn t order anything for myself. The waitress thought I didn t have enough money so only the kids can eat. She s compassionate enough to put her hand on my shoulder. She s a kind and beautiful lady.
Soup was cold.. couldn t even cook the raw meat since it was so cold.
Their menu is delicious
really good! they also offer a 10% student discount. i wish the service was a bit friendlier but nothing wrong with it
Good restaurant. Always full of people
Bland rice and salad and HORRIBLE service. The server was rude and dismissive. Don t waste your money and time!
Excellent restaurant, fast service, lots of choice on the menu. The atmosphere is very good, the toilets are super clean too. I highly recommend it and the food is superb. I want to go back there as soon as possible.
Everyone knows the pho here is PHenOmenal, but I tried the veggie fried noodles this time and LOVED IT. Also their fried ice cream was to die for can t go wrong here
Waitress full fine J cheap and super good fast and no clean corner wv no one
Perfect place for eating pho. Servers and service are amazing. They are nice and welcoming.
Excellent soup, incredible serving speed! My soup arrived in 3 mins after I placed the order! The only thing is that the portion of medium is actually quite small; if you are hungry, make sure that you order the larger portion; you get what you pay for!
Called last week because i lost a bag with a camera, said they would put it aside. Came back and they said they had no clue what i was talking about. Rude owner
One of the first Vietnamese restaurant in Montréal. I have been going there forever, basically since I was young and very punk hanging out at Foufounes...Interestingly the menu hasnt changed very much if at all, unlike the neighbourhood going through major gentrification...I have tried pretty much everything on the menu, but my real comfort food there has to be #26, pork with Asian noodles, homemade imperial rolls, peanuts and lettuce. Service is always excellent and attentive and the plate are delivered very fast at an very affordable price!
ITS GOOOOD and not too pricey
Too much Lysol cleaner while eating, very unfortunate for that, but for the rest its fine!
Good dishes, fresh food, a good welcome in French and above all the concern to know if it was good and the pleasure of seeing each other again.
I got the number 1 and soup was not hot enough to cook the rare beef. This is even after 5 minutes of separating and dunking the meat. Friendly staff but pho was not great.
Great restaurant, very tasty food!!
The BBQ pork soup was excellent. A little crowded but fast, discreet and courteous service. In the Vietnamese style it is very successful. The atmosphere is a cross between a bohemian-intellectual restaurant and a student meeting place which is still quite pleasant. Budget-wise, prices are comparable to restaurants of this type (post-pandemic, everything has increased a little). I recommend.
Although the restaurant is a bit old, the food quality and taste are very good. Overall cleanliness was also very good. The service attitude is also very good.
Friendly staff and banging food
Loved it!!!! Amazing food! We tried the combo special. Great price and flavor.
The worst general tao of my life it tasted like sesame oil and wasnt even crispy it wasnt good at all but their Tonkinese soup is excellent and their hot spring roll is very small too much dough not enough filling inside and all for $50 it left me hungry and disappointed
Very very tasty!!
A very good restaurant for Tonkinese soup xxx
Fast service but the food was not up to our expectations. We ordered a pho dac biet with a chicken curry. It mentioned South Vietnamese style curry on the menu but that was not what we had at all. It was more like curry cornstarch! It was so gooey and the vegetables were undercooked (not al dente) and tough! The pho was just okay. My husband is terrified. We wont come back again.
The food was authentic and everything was fresh. I only ordered a big bowl of Pho, but Ill definitely go again and try other items.
A delicious family run restaurant
The number 2 soup is great, but number 12 is terrible. Chicken and shrimp soup with 2 shrimps, no chicken.
The best pho and rolls in MTL
I love the Raw Beef Meal Soup and Imperial Rolls. And many other items on the menu. Parking: Paid parking on rue Ste Catherine and it all depends on the day and time as to the difficulty of finding a space. Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance level with the sidewalk.
Worst pho ever!
Too xpensive for a simple dish
Good and inexpensive
Plain décor. Fab food. Love the Viet Namese coffee
Everything is very delicious, the tea with tapioca is very delicious.
Great service I enjoyed the grilled chicken with vermicelli but I found that it lacked flavor. Nice portion
Dirty Tables and Horrible Service..
Very good, cheap, great service
Speedy service, nice people but food wise leaves much to be expected which defeats the purpose of visiting a restaurant obviously. Pho, rolls and dessert were all quite subpar. Definitely wouldn t recommend and not returning.
This place has wonderful food and lighting fast service. The staff is super nice and helpful. Don t come here for the atmosphere because you won t find much but it s perfect for a quick lunch or weekday dinner. Although the place is a few dollars more expensive than some of the others in the neighborhood, portions reflect the extra dollars. Worth it.
It would be better to be a BYOB
Excellent, fast and courteous service. Stable and consistent in staff and menu. My favorite Viet for years. Im crazy about #27!
Delicious homemade soup served with fresh herbs. Fast service, calm atmosphere.
Small place that doesnt look like much, faithful to the other pho restaurants Ive visited. The meals are excellent!!
Delicious, I recommend! Suitable for vegetarians, also - very good address!
Had some pretty good pho here. Was impressed by the flavourful broth and the amount of meat that was given. Place was a bit cramped but food and service was very good and warm
If youre looking for tasty good broth, lots of yummy tai (lean cut meat) and a homestyle feel, this place is for you. The ladies that work here are very kind and are attentive to service. Very clean and welcoming atmosphere. Make sure you make it before they close in the evening, you wont want to miss out on a tasty bowl of pho!
Cant get enough of this place even after 25 years+.
Honestly, it feels like a little boui boui in Vietnam! The atmosphere, the smell, the food! Excellent and inexpensive!
neglect the niggling owner if you can and focus on VN delicacies. avoid the undrinkable red wine and go for the white or beer. extremely sluggish service but fair Q/P pay at the counter with your CR card
Great food, we love it, the fried ice cream is amazing!
I visited for dinner. The service is very fast and the staff are attentive. I ordered the chicken and shrimp rice rolls. They were delicious, especially with the accompanying peanut butter sauce. I also ordered pho ga (chicken pho) but I was surprised that the chicken was fried chicken that was cut into pieces. My experience with chicken pho from the many pho restaurants Ive been to in different cities in the US and Europe that the chicken comes in thin slices and boiled rather than fried. I also didnt expect the soup to have vegetables like carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli. Although I think it was healthy to have them, but again this was unlike the previous similar dishes I had in other Vietnamese restaurants. Also, the broth was kinda bland. I had to add soy sauce to make it a bit flavorful. The prices were okay.
Excellent place, a perfect balance between price and quality. The food is awesome, and the prices are accessible. Dont forget to try sake, it is very good and completes the experience. Food : 5/5
Best pho in town
Excellent cuisine full of flavors Exceptional value for money Only downside service a little too rushed
Very good vegetable soup, medium size, very hearty, served with tea. Excellent banana fritter. Fast and friendly service.
The egg rolls were good. The spring rolls were definitely not fresh, with a bad smell and dry! I threw them away. The Tonkinese soup with beef was OK, but far from the best!
The classic goat for good soup (In winter it s peak)
Unfortunately, it s a very mediocre restaurant, although everyone told me that you couldn t find a better Pho in the city... It s possible. The atmosphere is present, authentic, that s probably all, overrated
Very nice, friendly and wonderful owners and service
Very fast service and authentic and delectable Tonkinese soup experience. Vegetarian options: A soup with chicken broth, but vegetables instead of meat.
Cheap and cheerful and very yummy
Not worth for the price
Good but too expensive a la carte and the tastes are all the same
Ultra fast service, simple and delicious food and friendly staff. We go there at least once a month.
Best pho in Montreal hands down
Prices are more expensive at the cash register than on the menu, be careful
Loved it authentic Vietnamese food.
Simple and good!
Correct. Quite old for decor. Good food, a little expensive for what it is
Excellent family restaurant
Wow! Trying the food means understanding why this restaurant has existed since 1972. Delicious
Extraordinary place, the food is delicious, fast service, smiling cooks, fun music
I was impressed by how fast the service was!! The restaurant was full but the food came so fast! Super friendly staff and food was fresh and delicious!
I was in the mood for a great pho and stumbled upon this restaurant after a day of shopping. I ordered there house pho luckily the server told me that it came in a huge bowl . So I had the large instead of the XL. Great tasting pho, and I also ordered the shrimp salad. Food came quickly about 5 minutes after ordering.
A good place for Pho
Food food food
This time I showed the kind lady in vietnamese what I wanted and it was delivered ^_^ my favorite pho place near metro st laurent. My pho always has to have 1/2 noodles and only tendon meat. Super delicious
Cozy and great soup
Was walking by at lunchtime. The place looked busy and I was hungry. Usually enjoy Vietnamese food, but the general tao chicken Vietnamese style, while somewhat tasty was really greasy. Four hours later I still have a stale greasy taste in my mouth. Guess I ordered the wrong thing.
