The food was mediocre. We can make it as good at home. We didn t enjoy the recommendations from the waiter. Service was very slow. We will not go back. Parking: Very busy street you must drive around or find somebody leaving and take their spot.

Delicious Portuguese food. Great service. The owner is always so kind and, despite being from Ottawa, always remembers us when we eat here.

The fish is smelly and my husband and I got food poisoning, this is the second time I am here and the first time the food was also smelly and I doubted my self given its a fancy restaurant and people are eating. So we went for the second time, But no more! In each time we have ordered the main big fishermen fish and in both time the fish were smelly the shrimp is not fresh. The only delicious thing is the Desserts !

I recently dined at Casa Minhota and had an amazing experience. The place has a cozy, inviting atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. I highly recommend Restaurant CASA MINHOTA! I have been going to this restaurant for many years and invited several friends from time to time to share the experience of dining there with me, we were never disappointed! The last time was on my birthday, I invited a group of 12 guests and the whole experience was exceptional! Food was fantastic, service was highly efficient and the bill at the end was more than fair! To top it off I was given a bottle of Porto at the end and was wished a good retirement, I asked, how they knew I was retired and without missing a beat, I was told they saw the news in the Montréal Gazette

It is a very delicious restaurant, the detail with potatoes and egg has a very classic and delicious Portuguese touch. It is an unpretentious restaurant and the service is very pleasant. They were always open to help me, also speaking Portuguese, English, French and Spanish.

A somber reason for having a dinner here. However, the service was rapid, courteous, and efficient. For years I was told there was a man here who shared my first name. I thought I was being put on. Lol, I wasn t. They gave us privacy from the remainder of the restaurant, but they were very attentive. I thank the staff for their service.

All the meat was overcooked but OK. Shrimp was great and bread tasty. Lobster...meh. Service was normal if a little ingratiating. Dessert was a small pastry typico, but it had been frozen and microwaved without our knowledge, and when my brother went to bite into it, it scalded his hand. It was excessively hot only on the inside, and although some ice was brought for his injured fingers, we did NOT receive an apology or any adjustment to our bill despite the 3 of us eating. This joint has hung around all these years and is attractive to look at but, no, I dont recommend it at all...theres so much better food in this city if you look.

Excellent food and very friendly staff! On the other hand, you have to be patient... We had reserved for 8 p.m., we got our table at 8:50 p.m.... Orders taken at 9:20 p.m. and first dish received at 9:50 p.m. Well to wait we had a free glass of white port and another of red port at the end to apologize... If you have time, go there without hesitation! But if you are in a hurry...

The place is really nice. But it seems something is off with their staffing or their management. Food was really good very tasty. Some dishes tastier than what I had in Portugal itself. But their octopus salad plating/presentation needs improvement. Service was pleasant but very inattentive. We arrived 3 minutes after our reservation and had to wait for a host And then were told that our table wasn t ready and had to wait. Took them an hour and a half for the main courses and forever for the cheque. They re probably lulled in a comfort zone with their recurrent customers and just not trying anymore. Party of 4 with appetizers and main courses plus 2 bottles of wine 80$ including tip

I went to this restaurant to celebrate a friends birthday. The portions are generous as can be. The sauced and grilled squid is tender and not at all rubbery. The Fishermans Plate is a treat and a great way to eat fresh, grilled fish that is so tasty. Great service. It has to be done again. Parking: Depending on the time, it can be difficult to find parking on Saint-Laurent Boulevard.

Originally from NY. We decided to visit the Portuguese place during to its variety of sea food in this location. We ordered plenty of things including sardines. Mussels, escargot, and so on. The only thing that was good is the sardines. We finally got a big plate with a mix of fish. Honestly it was horrible the salmon was literally spoiled and the sword fish same thing. I was with a family so I couldnt really complain or do anything about that. We end up just paying and leaving. I would not recommend the place due to it s lack of customer service and mediocre food quality.

Food is delicious, the ambience is nice. It could be better, if the waiters were more polite, attentive and respectful.

Good restaurant, the dishes were very good and the waiter friendly. I took away a star because I had to ask for the menu myself, and it took a long time to be served. But that doesnt make it a bad experience, there were people, it also indicates that the quality is there!

No service..take long and forget the order

It was Easter Sunday and all the tables were full. The food was well presented and excellent. The service was also perfect. They kept coming to fill up our water. The tables had starched white linen with linen napkins and decorated for Easter. It was a wonderful lunch with our family of 8. Parking: They have free parking behind the restaurant but on Easter Sunday we chose to park on the street as many stores were closed and parking was free till 1 pm. Normally, we do park in their parking.

Authentic Portuguese cuisine immediately brought me back to my trip to Portugal in 2022. The server was quick and straightforward. The food and wine were fantastic. We had grilled octopus (tapas), mixed seafood plate and cod Minhota style. Everything was so delicious and we left the place very happy. Reservation is recommended as they get very busy.

Being in Montreal it is like having diner in Spain, France, Italy and Portugal in 4 days. Montreal brings that to you without travelling to Europe. I spoke Portuguese and felt being in the country, the diner was plaisant and tastes like in the north of Portugal. Bifanas, carne alentejana, bitoque et pastéis de nata. All great staff, I recommend it!

Waited 30 minutes for a table even with a reservation, stood in the hallway without anyone checking on us or updating. Watched waitstaff hang around empty tables. Left without eating.

Sunday night. Calm evening. There were a few customers but not too many. The servers were warm, funny and attentive. Impeccable service. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant too! Food wise, it was really very good. I had a caldo verde soup as a starter, and without wanting to sound cliché, it was so good that it made me think of my grandmother who made me a similar one when I was a child. Grilled octopus (polvo lagareiro) as main dish; fresh and delicious. Vegetables on the side as well. I tried a range of desserts too, all equally good: natas, flanks, puddings. A delight! I highly recommend.

Great food and ambiance. I guess people complaining about the service are used to fast food pace. Here things go kindly and smoothly, like in Portugal. Why would you rush if you are actually enjoying a spectacular plate? Vegetarian options: Veggie paella

First time ever tasting Portuguese food.. and I am happy to have picked this place for it. Our waiter was wonderful! He was very pleasant and friendly. Recommended a white wine and it was great. The food was well prepared. The seafood rice was very yummy!

The food is good and of good quality. Server too familiar, he touches us without invitation to do so. Ex: on my partners shoulder, stomach: and the waiting time is really too long. 3 hours to eat a starter, a main course and dessert is way too much.

Authentic place

We went there July 7 2023, very busy, we sat down, they gave us water after 5 minutes, NO Menus, they came with Bread, Olives, Still No Menus, finally after 30 minutes we had to ask for Menus, the service we received was not really good, waiter either is not really a waiter or had to many clients and he was running everywhere! Waiters should have a designed section so can take care of his clients!!! The food came, it was OK, but the only plate that was extremely dry was the Bacalhao a Braz, not really good, I had asked for a piece of cake with a candle for a birthday never came??? Our waiter never came by to ask how the food was??? Is everything OK????? Never! The restaurant is typical Portugeese, but needs a little renovation, needs updating, carpet floors are really old and squiky furniture outdated. The parking forget about it only fits like 6 cars, we had to park 3 blocks away.

Love our dinner. It was No. 1 across the board. Especially my dessert was sublime Fast and courteous service, very polite. To recommend without hesitation.

Came here for dinner and was let down by the good reviews. We had the seafood platter and the seafood paella. Food portions are large but taste was nothing impressive. Some of the items on the platter werent even hot. Price is quite reasonable but it may just be because were used to Torontos inflated prices now. They were very busy the whole time we were there. Wouldnt say that the service is super friendly but they did their job.

We walked in and asked for a table for two. A staff member went to check and came back with a manager, who rudely told us they were closed. This was at 7:30 and there were many tables open. We thought maybe there were reservations or a big party coming in, so we went to a nearby restaurant. On our way back to the car after dinner, we walked by Casa Minhota again, and the place was empty. Still dont know why we were turned away.

Super authentic feel to this restaurant, the crowd that frequent this place are all regulars and very much Portuguese. It was very busy when we were here for lunch, with about 5-6 groups celebrating birthdays here, so service was a bit slow but completely understandable. We had the table d hôte lunch menu: very reasonably priced including entrée (soup/mussels), a main dish (meat/fish) and a dessert and coffee. The bacalhau was to die for - a hefty fillet of salted cod, beautifully flakey and topped with a mountain of onions and paper thin potato chips . The caldo verde soup - a thick, creamy, garlicky potato and kale soup, was delicious. They also serve a killer espresso with the dessert. Will definitely be back to try everything else on the menu!

We have visited Montreal for 2 days and we wish we would find this restaurant on the first day, but unfortunately we found it on the second day, but the experience was excellent from the moment we have ebtered. we had seafood for lunch. the service was excellent, the food amazing, I highly recommend this restaurant

Who the hell takes a plate while I m still eating?

I had a great experience today at the restaurant! I ordered a grilled bacalhau with potatos and vegetables covered with olive oil and a lot of garlic! The dish tasted awesome! Going together, I had some Portuguese wine. I will be back some day.

It has lost a lot of quality, the food is no longer as good as it used to be!! Cod with cream was just potatoes with sauce, its a place I wont go back to! Paying the invoice included the most expensive dishes with a 10$ difference that was on the menu! And you even chose your own tip! At the end of the bill we paid $25 more for the food than we were supposed to! And everything happened so quickly that the staff didnt even have time to look to check if everything was correct, we could only look at the bill on the street!

Beautiful taste of Portugal!

We were walking past around lunchtime so decided to have a Sunday lunch there. It was really busy, always a good sign. Food is really good and good value for money. Really authentic Portuguese cuisine. We had amazing mussels for starters and shared a cod and a filet mignon for main courses. Everything was cooked really well and were very tasty. Desserts were good too. We had some house red wine which we also liked.

A Little Taste of Portugal: If you want to taste the real authentic Portuguese dishes, Casa Minhota is your place. Excellent quality and prices for your food. It does not matter what you order All there recipes are authentic and very good. Place is also very clean. The negative side: We are now hooked and are there every second week. The big bonus free parking in the back. Parking: Free parking in the back of restaurant.

We were invited to come and dine here with our team. Unfortunately, when we joined our group, the host came to us and rudely told us we were not to sit here since it had been reserved. They had informed the restaurant that we could come as they saved seating for 5. Our friends showed us where to sit, and then we were told we couldnt be accommodated as it was reserved. We were given the option to have some of us at the bar, and 1 could join the other table. Obviously, that wasnt ideal as that would separate us completely. As a result of this and our horrible experience, we left to find somewhere else to eat. Please make it clear in the future how larger groups can be accommodated before confirming that we can be accommodated. Lost a group of 5, but all for the better. Consider working on your customer experiences, please. I wish this couldve been resolved in a better manner.

I came to eat at the bar as I was alone. I arrived early out of respect for kitchen and staff. The service was ok. However, when I was able to eat my delicious food, there seemed to be some laughs at my expense due to an elderly man who would not leave me alone. Now, Im fine with normal nonsense, but the staff should be a little less tolerant of people leaning into another persons food and winking incessantly. You know? I love the food but the behaviour of the bar people and patrons have put me off. Ive been eating there for years. Never again.

An incredibly delicious meal, where quality was not sacrificed despite the incredibly long wait. How could service have been better? Menus could have come to the table sooner than 15 minutes. House apps (Olives & bread) could have come sooner than 1.5 hours. Our drink order could have been taken sooner than 45 minutes and a complimentary appetizer could have been offered for the wait of 1.45 hours before the meal came in. All 10 of us had been ready to order 15 min after arrival. My opinion is that mgmt should have hired more wait staff and kitchen staff to cover the 100 percent reservation rate of their restaurant on that night. A resto that was full 2 weeks prior on that date However, the food was delish. The presentation was yum. The quantity was good. And, luckily everyone was in a great mood that the intense hunger was dissipated with good family story time R ,

The service was super long, its not you who makes the choice for the order of the service its the service staff, we asked for a coffee after the food and the gentleman on duty told us NO AFTER COMES THE DESSERT AND AFTER COFFEE , very noisy, I wont go back again.
