52 Rue Saint-Viateur O, Montréal, QC H2T 2V2, Canada
British-style pub offering lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Our elevated fare focuses on local products with a seasonal menu. The bar features draft brews, an extensive spirit collection and a Gin collection of 200+ bottles. At heart we are your local pub with great food and great drinks. Cheers!
Service is good, beer is good, food unfortunately is where they seem to drop the ball. They tend to take simple dishes and try to make it over the top. Often missing the point of why classics should not be messed around with too much. Example, their burger and bangers and mash.
You should give it a try. Good food and drinks... Friendly staff.. nice place to chill with friends..
The beers and the burger were fine, but the potatoes which came with the burger were one of the best I've ever had in my life. I would return there just for those potatoes, too bad they are not served separately. The staff was also very nice and friendly, I recommend this pub.
First time there great service and ambiance, we went for brunch, the Steak Eggspectation and Full English dishes were good, the only disappointment is they advertised blood sausage on the FE breakfast and you only get a tiny slice of
The selection of beer is good. Their own beer is a must try. I also saw a big selection of strong alcohols if you're into it. The food is good as well. Their potatoes are iconic and really well seasoned. The daily burger is usually good, but it's also a bit small for the price that you're paying. It's a nice little place in the Mile End that you should try. It's not very vegan-friendly though.
The lamb kebab is tasty, though a bit salty for my preference. The pita bread has a nice texture. The issue is there is not enough meat for the price of the dish. It’s mostly cabbage/lettuce. The owner could alternatively decrease the price of the dish.
I love the vibe at this cozy pub. Each time I go the servers are very friendly. The food is tasty and generous. The gin menu is vast and the gin tasting item on the menu is an affordable and a fun way to explore different gins.
This is a wonderful pub to spend the evening — the lighting is great, the food is phenomenal, and any screens for game night are stylishly hidden when not in use. :) I love their burgers and salads, their trivia night is fantastic, and it seems like a fun place to have a small party. They get a bit crowded at night, so I recommend the weekdays or an earlier start if you guaranteed want a good table, and certainly book for trivia!
One of the best pub food in Montreal! I had dinner with five friends and shared a bunch of dishes. Everything was spectacular! The Sea Bass, Tuna Tataki, Fried Mushrooms were all delicious, but the Beef Cheek and Lamb Kabob were over the top orgasmic! I want to return and try the rest of the menu! Unfortunately, the Bloody Caesar that I ordered was disappointing. It was made in too large a pint glass and it had too much juice and ice, (which quickly melted). All this killed the flavour of the cocktail. Also, there s something disturbing about the acoustics of the room, which made the chatter of the crowd seem incredibly loud. We were all having lots of trouble hearing each other, even though the music was quite low. Nevertheless, the service was amazing and we all had a great time.
The food was amazing, but I found a hair in my meal, and they charged me the full price. They did give a discount on a beer, but I dont really care about that. I just feel that they didnt address the issue properly.
Very satisfying food. Great place to go!
Nice little pub on Saint Viateur with an outdoor patio. A good spot for a laid-back evening with friends. The serving staff are friendly and attentive. Prices are a bit on the expensive side but overall good experience.
Overcooked eggs, lukewarm potatoes, changes to the dish that were not announced (half bagel with pumpernickel bread, arugula rather than watercress announced), gravlax that was way too salty... We will never set foot in this restaurant again, especially with the price paid.
Stopped in for a quick bite for lunch, service was great and food & cocktails were tasty!
My favorite spot in Montreal. We got there at least once a week. It is not your typical pub, here they serve great cocktails, food and a wonderful brunch !! The quality is superior and the staff is always joyful x Food : 5/5
Solid food and drinks. Great service. Proper pub inside.
Great food, amazing drinks, incredible staff...
Dropped by to have a drink. They have a really large selection of gins and I loved their negroni choices.
Great atmosphere and very friendly service
Nice quizz, good atmosphere, nice burgers and fries ! A bit too much mayonnaise to my taste but its the tradition :D Vegetarian options: Veggie burger !
The food was delicious
Food and drinks taste good and are well priced. Nice cozy atmosphere and welcoming staff. We come often for Sunday trivia, we have only one once so far but its still always fun! Dietary restrictions: I am lactose intolerance, I have asked them to make substitutions/remove items from my meal before and they have!
Nick made the Best Bloody Mary. More, the service is kind, and incredible. 10/10 recommend
A very good homemade hamburger. Friendly atmosphere and setting. Good welcome.
Fantastic spot for brunch. We ran in to escape the rain and were very impressed with the food! Delicious, reasonable portions, filling, and great NA drinks. Cozy and friendly, music playing quietly so we could hear each other talk. Would definitely come back
Good place for an after work. The service is fast and the choice is perfect. The price of eating may be a little high. But I recommend!!!
Subscriber for 4 years now, we never stop coming back. Their baggs burger is amazing, changes all the time and their vegetarian option is excellent! Very good classic pub menu for the other dishes, great service, super friendly, they wont stop seeing me there! More than recommended! Edit 1 year later, still perfect, and now subscribed to Brunch!!!
Enjoyed a delightful meal (gnocchi pork spinach and cherry tomatoes) with a glass of house white. A lovely patio on a quiet tree lined street. Highly recommended!
Love this spot! Amazing food and drinks, always so much fun!!
Fabulous.
Nice for a drink
I was there for 5 minutes and had not ordered my beer yet. A rude server comes to tell me that Im ocvupying a spot and need to order
A pub by the sea While we, A., K. and I, your three gourmet Sunday musketeers, savored our English lunch to the last bite, A. asked me about what, in my opinion, was missing at the moment we were sharing. In a state of absolute relaxation, I found nothing to complain about. My two friends, on the other hand, from nations with ocean-kissed shores, expressed their nostalgia for the sea. The sea is missing. Certainly, a terrace extending into a bank lulled by the flow of waves would add an exceptional character to the place... But here, in Montreal, you can always dream! Unless It was at that moment that a crazy and probably unrealizable idea flashed in my mind: what if, in addition to pedestrian streets in Montreal, we had streets... beaches? A street that would get lower in the summer, filled like a swimming pool and surrounded by sand... Or, more simply, a removable swimming pool beside which you can sit and dip your feet... Still a dream. Now, lets go back, if you agree, to the origin of A.s thoughts. As surprising as it may seem, the steak eggspectations from Bishop & Bagg, a delicious eggs Benedict with grilled beef, brought her back to her mornings in Madagascar and the flavors of the first meal of the day. To complete this reminiscence, she could not help but sigh for the ocean. There is no doubt that the warm eggs in purgatory (Italian sausage in tomato sauce) and the resolutely traditional, but still as effective, Full English (eggs, bacon, black pudding, sausage) will also have a strong evocative power for some, the image of the dining room of the English pub. In any case, those who, like me, simply want to enjoy a good meal will be served. You will enjoy generous portions of fresh, quality food in a classic and inviting setting. Try the terrace decorated with real flowers before 1 p.m., taking advantage of the fact that it is still in the shade. Although we did not experience any inconvenience, we would have preferred a more obliging table service, a service that does not just adequately provide the essentials, a service that is interested in its guests. For me, even brief, cordial and sincere interactions allow me to develop a deeper attachment to a place. P.S. Let us know if you decide to add a beach annex to your terrace. Vegetarian options: Yes, but they are not legion. The Dahlly Parton for example, or the Bishop s Green . Parking: Coming from Saint-Laurent, turn right on Saint-Viateur for free parking on weekends. Kid-friendliness: Its a tavern so... Wheelchair accessibility: In summer, with the terrace on the sidewalk.
a bit too salty for my taste but ambiance was great, great service.
Good food and cocktails but slow and inattentive service
Nice gin bar. Food looks amazing. Hard working team. Love the small pub feel.
The kebab is full of salad... kebabs are expensive lets say... the veggie or meat burger seems a better choice.
the gnocchi with pork cheek was delicious but the portion was way too small for the price we paid. the jerk chicken plate and aioli potatoes were also very flavourful. the service could be improved. the waitress did not come by to check on us once.
Amazing service and atmosphere! Lots of interesting food options and lots of fun names
best service and place to go in town!!! especially that bartender with the haircut
The bitter ale (house brand) here is probably the best in Montréal.
Great neighborhood pub with excellent customer service, delicious food and great selection of alcohols.
The atmosphere of a typical English pub for fans, for those who dont like noise or crowded tables, move on. The service is not incredible, server not very friendly and with a smile and obviously an option that you have to pay for. Concerning the cuisine, it was a huge disappointment for me, the bacon and sausages were poorly cooked and not really of quality... the taste and texture of the food was nothing exceptional. Pumpkin waffles are clearly frozen waffles just toasted with a ton of oil and thats literally the only taste you remember. On the other hand, the sized apples were tasty. I dont recommend stopping for brunch at this place.
Yummy bar food and good vibes on trivia night.
Best burger Ive ever had!
This place was awesome, laid back atmosphere and with bomb food. 10/10 would recommend
Food is sooo good!!
Service leaves much to be desired Stream sports without volume
Absolutely very noisy, as a pub should be. And what a choice of gin. Wow!
Nice restaurant/pub. Noisy atmosphere typical of a pub. Good service. As a starter, we had the potato and leek soup, it was delicious. We ordered the jerk chicken and the braised pork belly plate with leeks. The jerk chicken was tasty and not spicy, we like it that way. The pork was also delicious as were the leeks. On the other hand, I would have had an additional accompaniment because leeks are a bit like onions and I have enough after 5-6 bites.
I have been a couple of times for brunch. Food and service are always good. Best place to go if you want to watch the English premier league on the weekends!
Great first experience! Delicious food and cocktails. Definitely coming back whenever I m in town
Great burger, nice staff and good beer! I Laos really liked that you could pay at the table using QR code, made it really easy and also simple to split the bill. Dec 2022 update: they dont have the QR payment system anymore .... But damn that burger and those potatoes are delicious!!! March 2024 update: Still just as good! I went for brunch this time. I finally tried something other than the burger Service was great! I went with my kids. Not the ideal place for kids (no kids menu or anything), but we brought out own high char attachment and it was all good. But they loved the chocolate waffles!!
Came here after a show on a Saturday late (10ish pm) and got some grub and drinks. Kitchen still open, got the burger with the potatoes and aïoli and wow it was good. The burger was nicely seasoned, juicy, not just a boring meat patty, this is how I like my Burgers. The potatoes were a little crispy and the aïoli was really yummy. Hit the spot. For service though, it wasnt busy at all and the waiter kept coming to ask if we wanted to order more. It was beyond excessive and unpleasant. It wasnt for our benefit at that point it was very much I want you to order more and Im putting pressure. The 2 other people had gotten drinks and a soup. He came to ask us at least 5-6 times in the span of an hour when we clearly were still eating or drinking and not having more.
Food was very well executed
Its a very good place to relax, meet friends and have a delicious meal! Great burger and incredibly tasty coffee))
Delicious Steak eggspectations dish for brunch. Perfect size, you dont feel stuffed after having it. Very tasty and nice staff
Great service and a great Burger!!!
great drinks great food highly recommended
An average classical pub
Everything is good. Nice atmosphere, good beers.
Consistently great. Service is amazing, food is much more varied and interesting than the usual brunch or pub fare and high quality (for years now). Great place to come on a date, with family, or to catch a game or pub quiz. A+ Vegetarian options: Lots of breakfast options but highly recommend the dahl dish (whatever theyre calling it these days).
Great food (try the bagg burger), nice staff.and great service.
Good food, great drinks. Whats not to like? The burger is awesome.
The best steak and Brussel sprouts Ive had! Will definitely be back ! Drink quality and variety of wisky is amazing!
Excellent brunch! Drinks, food, and service were fantastic. Highly recommend.
Great service and delicious food. Had eggs, sausage, potatoes and crispy bread. Bloody caeser was also very good!
Banging atmosphere and gorgeous service
The food and drinks arent cheap, but definitely worth the price. Ive been savoring every bite of my food and sip of drink. WOW!
Great food and very attentive service
Best brunch ever!!! Had my bday there and they were super welcoming to my friends and I. Excellent service, no issue what so ever with the reservation. Food was delicous! They even played my fav team game!! 10 stars!!
Amazing burger, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great spot to try a few gins!
Very good service, very good food
Good burgers
Great bitter beer and burger platter!
Really had a good time. Relaxing environment and good cocktails. The food and service was good as well.
Food was really good, bar was lively, service was good and they had creative cocktails
Did a trivia night here when visiting a friend who lives in mtl. Was an absolute blast!
Delicious dishes.
Excellent vegetarian burger, really. Favorite dish! Potatoes as a side dish are also very tasty. I would go back often if I didnt live outside of Montreal
Amazing Piri Piri Shrimp!
Its rare to get such quality and inspired food in a late night joint, but I guess that makes Bishop & Bagg a culinary unicorn!! Great beer and delicious steak!!
Came across this Gin bar and happened upon 2 seats at the bar. Joined the trivia night and had a great time. Joey, the excellent bartender, guided us through to find several different local gins we enjoyed. Highly recommend.
Great team, great food and great English pub atmosphere!
One of the best burgers in town!
Amazing steak and good atmosphere
Was in town for Metallica shows, wandering around looking for bagels with my friend and we happened upon this little bar and decided to pop in for a drink. Our bartender Megan (apologize if spelt wrong) was incredibly friendly and talented at handling a very busy bar. The drinks were incredible and the selection of gins was absolutely amazing. Hope I get a chance to go back before we head home and try the food which smelled amazing!
One of the best places in MTL. The food, the atmosphere, the servers, everything was par excellence. Do not miss the halloumi with orange and honey (appetizer) and the fried olives. Tres bien!!!!
Went for a beer. Nothing more. Not a bad spot
The barman who served me was friendly and the pint of Burgundy Lion Ale he served me was fantastic
Frequent patron of this fine establishment. Service is excellent as usual and leaves you feeling attended and taken care of. Slightly disappointed by the food recently. By no means were they bad, it s just not as good anymore compared to what it was some months ago. We ordered a number of dishes this time as we had guests over. Appetisers Beef Tataki The Return of The King of Mushrooms Mains Lamb Kababs Jerk Chicken Bagg Burger Summer Grills Gone Wild Best dish as usual was the Bagg Burger, the patty was juicy and cooked perfectly. The potatoes salad side was marvellous. I probably won t order any of the appetisers or mains again. Lamb kebabs were dry and over cooked. Jerk chicken too sweet and also slightly over cooked. I will definitely return again but will stick to the tried and tested dishes. Still love this place!
This is a good place to have brunch, the service was also very good. I would recommend the place
Amazing experience. Tons of gins to try and the food was phenomenal. Get the hanger steak rare!
Great burgers, service and pub vibe. Highly recommended
Great atmosphere, the beer was really good!
legendary
Delicious food & cocktails!
4 pieces of steak all with different doneness (from dry to well done to medium well done and maybe 1 cm by 2 cm by 1cm that was truly medium-rare in the very middle of the piece of meat - asked for medium-rare for all). Quite disappointing. Maybe pick something else on the menu. I didnt think the service was particularly good either - no smiles, and long wait between services or to have someone come check on you (it wasnt yet busy when we were there). We will not be returning since it seems that there is no quarantee of a good experience.
Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, good food , terrace, good choice of drinks, food portions a little small but good quality.
Nice space, friendly staff, prompt service and their house bitter is the best in the city. $27 + tax and tip for a dish with 5, count em 5 shrimp is crazy. For $22+, I didnt expect their burgers to have shrunk either. For that kind of money, Id expect something like Harricanas, which has an enormous dish of mussels for $23.
Beautiful gin menu and food stuffs
Lovely local
The potatoes are really delicious!!!
Really great, especially the service and the veggie burger. I usually head to beef but this was special. Sad to say I m not sure I will be back, I live in New York City. Dietary restrictions: Not dietary. The Bishop s bitter was awesome. Wish I could find it in NYC.
The best English pub in Montreal. I especially recommend the English breakfast.
The Burgers! The Burgers were just...so good. Experience was great, no issue with service at all.
So sad there is no more Fish and chips
Incredible gin selection, we came here twice on our trip!
I just ate one of the greatest hamburgers in town! And the potatoes out of this world. Background music is great btw, 80s 90s and 2000s rock.
Very tasty food and a very fun (and very hard) trivia night on Sundays. Make sure to reserve if you want a spot during trivia
Friendly pub with great trivia evenings for very cultured people.
Good atmosphere, we eat well, we go there more for the pub side than for the cuisine but its a very good place!
always a pleasure to go, magnificent gin collection, precise and welcoming bartenders . stress free vibe, absolute must! first round on me!
Delicious brunch and a cozy atmosphere.
Burger was ok, but standard. The potatoes that came with it some of the best I had in Mtl.
I found Halloumi Frit as a vegie option, it was quite delicious. I got a light sour Session IPA, not bad.
Had the postachio pesto spaghetti. The portion was really small for the price and the pasta was under cooked. Friends got burgers and said they were great.
Great food, amazing gin selection, great staff. What more could you ask for?
Great pub! Our favourite on our recent holiday in Canada
love it here! everyone is sooooo wonderful and the staff are great! Karaoke nights are such a great time thank you everyone for creating such a welcoming and fun environment!
The food was amazing, the ambiance was warm and cozy, the service was excellent, and the beer was delicious! I had the grilled sirloin with cold soba noodles. My husband had the Bagg Burger with poutine. Exquisite flavors, so yum!!! We really enjoyed everything.
