Service was good. Bathroom was clean. But the third service (main dishes) was very forgettable or unforgettable depending on your perspective. First, the duck that was supposedly their forte was badly cooked and severely under-seasoned. The duck breast was cooked unevenly and with excessive heat, resulting in a grey band as you can see in the photo. Overcooked near the surface, undercooked in the centre. Second, although the arctic char was very enjoyable by itself, the pairing with a purée they chose was off, it also came with a pile of kimchi that did not make sense for the dish. For the dessert, it was an apple pie like dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of a brownie. It was alright, too sweet for my taste and it had some random flower pedals for garnish and finely diced apple that diminished its appearance. BYOB is nice though.
The duck and the fish are exceptional! Great service, the waitress suggested a nice palette of appetizers. Beautifully presented dishes and high quality local ingredients. If you're wondering where to take your family or date, this is the place to be! BYOB and changing menu based on what the chef finds at the local market...
This was a delightful and delicious experience! We had the recommended three courses per person and were a little over full, but satisfied. The meals are prepared with local ingredients and rich flavors. Highly recommend! You also save some dough by bringing your own wine.
Othym has a lot of personality, 3times in terms of the dinning experience, their lively team and the resplendent space. Their Zero waste philosophy means that you will discover new flavors, textures and expertly assembled culinary arrangements there. Don't forget to bring your wine.
It took me some time to find a Quebecois restaurant that offers vegetarian dishes that I’m interested in. I’m so glad I found O-Thym! They are very vegetarian-friendly and offer plenty of vegetable dishes. The dinner I had there (back in May) was literally the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. The vegetables were so juicy, fresh, and full of flavor, yet so simple. They truly brought out the best in the vegetables, letting you really taste their true flavor. Amazingly exquisite! 11 out of 10! I’ll definitely visit again next time I'm in Montreal.
First time visiting this restaurant when I was visiting Montreal with my parents for three days. I am so glad I found this restaurant. The food was so fresh and delicious and full of surprise, the presentation is so pretty, and the service was excellent and friendly. I love the green peas dish, I don’t really like green peas, but this dish change my mind. I enjoyed it so much. I am sure I will be back again. I told all my friends they have to come here if they are in town.
Creative dishes. The food was high quality, fresh, flavorful. There wasn't really much of an ambiance, but that was fine; it made the experience more intimate.
Been coming here for the last 2 decades for their fresh and innovative local ingredient menu. Bistro style laid back French Canadian cuisine and BYOB model make it always the perfect night out destination with good friends. The Maple crème brûlée was the big hit this round.
We had a great experience! The new premises are magical, pleasant, airy and very friendly. The food always ticks!
The new location is sublime and you quickly feel comfortable. The pea supper was delicious and comforting on this cold rainy evening. The lamb cooked to perfection and the scallops and accompaniments melted in your mouth. The only downside is the bar chairs. If you like to eat at the bar for the proximity to your guest and confidences, their stool will cause you more problems for your posture than conversations. A perfect stool for having a drink, but for a meal, not having a backsplash limits the experience. I understand the look of the stool to match the lines of the bar, but in terms of comfort we will reconsider. Opt for a table if you book.
Always a great experience! The oyster mushroom starter was excellent, the ricotta dip was exquisite and surprising, the scallops were perfectly prepared, the bread pudding was one of the best desserts we have ever eaten in our lives and the courser des bois crème brûlée was divine! !!
The new premises are sublime in addition to being less noisy than the old one in Maisonneuve. The food is still good and the service attentive. A plus, we can finally see the chefs at work with the open kitchen.
The service is absolutely incredible. The servers know the little details of each dish, which helps a lot with the choice of dishes. They are attentive and always at our disposal. The dishes are tasty and sophisticated. The quantity of food is perfect for the 3-course service. For the atmosphere, light a little too present in the evening.
Nothing to complain about the experience. She is what they sell us. Fine cuisine with local ingredients. The portions are generous, I wasnt hungry at all at the end of the meal. We had a blast!!!
The new dining room is very comfortable for our group of 10 and the quality of the food was excellent. The beef tartare was sublime. The service was attentive to our needs. THANKS!
Beautiful evening
Customer since 2005, I have always appreciated the quality and the discoveries offered by Othym despite portions which have decreased over time with an increasing price... so if there are still small portions at high prices, the minimum would be to live an experience with good quality. I went yesterday with my girlfriend for our 5th anniversary and we were deeply disappointed! Out of 4 dishes, one was special, 2 were quite ordinary and one was not edible. The tartare was poorly calibrated in flavor with too many garlic crunchies .... The scallops were too salty... but hey, maybe its a matter of taste, but my girlfriend shared the same opinion. What is completely Unacceptable is to have served a not fresh Arctic Char which tasted quite intensely of not fresh fish . I already ate a fabulous char there a year ago, it s a tasty fish without a fishy aftertaste. My char bought at the grocery store is fresher than that served at o thyme. I left some of the fish on my plate, I told the waiter who assured me it was fresh which was almost insulting, maybe the chef should have tasted the portion remaining on my plate ! We finally decided to leave the restaurant after 4 courses to finish eating elsewhere with a bitter and fishy bill of $126. I dont know whats happening with the new Othym, but one thing is certain, unfortunately we wont be setting foot there again, the old othym seems to have well and truly disappeared. We have no problem paying a premium price for a gastronomic experience, but unfortunately the latter was not present at all yesterday... PS: the service was good and the new premises are aesthetically pleasing, but it is a little noisy.
Always the best experience!
Perfect evening! Excellent dishes to share and super friendly service.
Lovely farm to table restaurant, with delicious creative dishes prepared with seasonal high-quality ingredients. The new location is way bigger but keep the same cozy atmosphere. Very recommended.
Great restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. restaurant having space between customers, we are not stuck on top of each other. The food is amazing, just the right amount. I adore
Excellent dinner at this restaurant where I went at lunchtime in another era. It has changed premises more than once and always the same owner. New York atmosphere, the food is excellent, the dishes carefully prepared and the service efficient and courteous. An experience to repeat! And whats more, you bring your own wine!! Cheers!! I came by metro but there is paid parking under Place Dupuis, otherwise on the street.
Very nice establishment, constantly changing menu, great team, attentive owners, we go there and we return!
Amazing experience and service. We shared different delicious exquisite dishes between 4 people and could taste a little bit of everything. Our palates were very satisfied! Greatly recommend this restaurant if you re into fine dining with a laidback atmosphere and not too crazy prices and the cherry on top of the sundae? You can bring your own bottle (BYOB). Options can change based on what the chef finds on the market, which is interesting because it allows for variety from time to time. So lucky I got to try the scallops as a main dish tonight
One of my best AVV restaurants to date
An exceptional restaurant with an innovative take. Excellent value for money. Unfortunately the experience is partly spoiled by the unbearable noise. Staff explained to us that some sound absorbing panels will be installed soon. That might help. Until then they should at least switch off the music.
Perfect as always! The food is excellent, very creative and I, who don t like broccoli and scallops, ate them anyway! So fresh! The new restaurant is very zen! Very friendly service!
One of the best BYOW restaurants out there. In fact, i should say that its a great restaurant, that just happens to be BYOW.
Excellent food and Leos service was impeccable
Creative and so good local cuisine. Plus it s a BYOB.
Wow, the most incredible discovery in Montreal! Our new favourite place. The food was out of this world delicious and interesting. Fascinating and amazingly tastly dishes to die for. We recommend sharing so you can try more dishes. We loved the calm and welcoming atmosphere to all ages and styles. Young tattooed hipsters and stylish oldsters like us dining and hanging out in harmonious gastronomical bliss. I can hardly wait to return.
Always a real delight and impeccable service. Personally, I preferred the atmosphere of the old place. This one is vast and less welcoming. The decor is pretty and neat.
Just delicious! Parking: Right in front
Outstanding high quality cuisine. Beautiful presentations. Modern, warm decor. The tables were fairly far apart from each other.
One of the best restaurants Ive tried and yet Ive had a lot of them in France! This is a very nice discovery! I highly recommend it!!!
Superb experience, flavors that I wouldnt have dared before, impeccable service and the bring your wine concept is great.
The mozzarella starter was too cold (the cheese itself and the salad that came with it). We taste products much less when they are cold. Good fish but a very small portion. Duck good. Very good bread. Noisy.
I can t believe that we waited so long to finally experience this place. Highly recommend and with it now being literally down the street from us, we will be back I cant believe we waited so long to finally experience this place. Highly recommended and as it is now literally down the street from us we will be back
Best bring your own wine from Montreal. Inventive dishes full of flavors and balance. Really worth trying: the chef is talented. I will go back! Vegetarian options: Great veggie options to try.
Considering the Google reviews etc we had high expectations. We were disappointed with the dishes (5 in total for 2 people), all the dishes lacked taste (bland). The fish dish was the worst, barely warm and with very soft skin. The service was very good as was the atmosphere in their new location. The small dish concept is a good idea to discover more dishes, but the fact remains that the prices are too high per dish. Quality/Price of other restaurants bring your own wine, offer very tasty dishes. We will not return.
We really liked it! We will come back!
It was just really perfect
We discovered this wonderful restaurant very close to the Olympia. We were won over by the quality of the cuisine and the service. They just moved. Super nice little bistro. I recommend without hesitation. We will return with pleasure.
Simply delicious and the service is impeccable. Superb evening with friends.
New location for this BYOB restaurant. Much more space and new three-step menu formula. With 4 or 5 choices per option. The dishes are magnificent and tasty. The service is efficient and fast! We go there with our eyes closed and we come back with pleasure!
New location is great on Atateken (though a bit noisier) and if anything, the menu has gone up a notch - congrats to Kevin and Co. for a great transition and will visit again soon!
A very good neighborhood restaurant and bring your wine too! (Great concept) Good welcome. The person in charge of our table was friendly and professional. Good explanation of the dishes offered. (Thanks again Charmelie) The menu is varied and mainly offers Quebec products. A real plus! We loved the concept of sharing dishes. Its perfect when youre greedy and youre hesitant about several choices... The selected dishes were really delicious. The service was quick. Thanks to the kitchen team, continue to delight us like this.
This restaurant will always amaze me. The quality of the dishes served is always better than you imagine. Its a safe bet and its impossible to be disappointed.
We wanted to thank you all for the amazing service and food that was given to our party last night !
It was a fantastic meal and great service!
Great new space, menu focused on local produce, bring your own wine, pleasant service!
A very beautiful place in addition to being pleasant
I had a wonderful time at OTHYM, from the warm welcome to the service and delicious food. I love small plate restaurants, allowing me the option to try multiple dishes. Was a plus to have such good food for a bring your own wine. I have not experienced this in the past. I will be back for more.
On the servers recommendation, our main meal was lamb offal (heart and liver) and it wasnt worth it. The other dishes were good. As with many restaurants, the quantity of food is not very large. We are regulars and left disappointed.
Hands down one of my favorite restaurants. I love that they have game on the menu, that they use odd and interesting ingredients, and that you can pick a bottle of wine at the SAQ before going there. We have been here many many times, and it is always delicious. My husband accidentally ordered the vegan option once, and while he is a committed carnivore and normally would have cried tears of anguish at his error, this time he didnt even mind. What can I say? If a restaurant can make the vegetarian option attractive to that man, then there is a genius working in the kitchen. Id give six stars if I could. Not good anymore alas. New location. New management? Definitely not the same chef. I hate the tapas style restaurant that is all the rage now and am sad that this place has gone that route. But honestly, the food was just so average. I think it s catering to a young computer/gamer crowd fresh out of uni and used to eating ramen.
I adore
Great BYOW restaurant. Enjoyable.
Good restaurant but poor quantity/price ratio The products are fresh, well prepared and well presented, however the quantity on the plates is really low. For the large plates there are two tablespoons of food (approximately), the fish steak is small and the scallops (honestly 4 small scallops per dish/for 30 dollars). We had several dishes per person and left still hungry. A 30 dollar dish for such a small quantity is a bit of a shame... I wouldnt come back even if it was good, because of this. The bread costs but is excellent. We had to take it several times (5dol: 4 slices) to satisfy our hunger. On the other hand, the restaurant is very beautiful, with superb decoration. But I dont come just for that...
O-Thym is a cute little restaurant suitable for a date or with friends. It s bring your own wine which also means no cocktails. I dined with a friend - he has allergies and I m vegetarian. We both felt there was sufficient care and variety. The food is beautiful but overall I wasn t a fan of the veggies on offer. The onion tartlette was tiny and the onions still slightly crunchy. There were a lot of root vegetables. I chose the mozzarella dish and the veggies accompanying it were served cold which was unsatisfying for a main. Although the restaurant has creative and beautiful dishes, I wasn t super into the menu. I had to leave before dessert which was a shame because those options sounded incredible.
Restaurant to absolutely try. Good service and carefully prepared food. Some choices were a nice surprise. My recommendations: pointed cabbage, bourgots, arctic char. The brownie is an excellent dessert. Well-prepared local products. Only disappointment: the duck was a little dry and the candied onion tartlet lacked punch.
The staff is very attentive to our needs and done with charm and professionalism. The meals are inventive and inspired with local ingredients. Congratulations on your new concept of small dishes, it offers more possibilities to discover the different flavors of the dishes. Vegetarian options: The menu is divided in two with the vegetarian side and the meat side. Excellent.
Excellent food Nice and clean environnement with great staff. I recommend! Food
All dishes without exception were excellent!
A great BYOB. Good dishes made with local ingredients. We come out quite full for around $100.
What a disappointment. After having visited the restaurant several times in Maisonneuve, we were very disappointed. The tartare drowned in harissa-style sauce, the uncooked oyster mushrooms, the bland and undercooked or overcooked chard, the slice of bread on my plate that the waitress took with her fingers and put back in the bread plate, etc. All this and more means that we no longer recommend this restaurant.
We had a memorable evening. The atmosphere, the decor, the warmth, the comfort, everything was there. Professional, warm service. The quality and originality of the dishes are moving. Favorite for oyster mushrooms/semolina, pea soup (pea pod emulsion, exceptional) etc... Beer brownie, paw paw ice cream!!! Quebec mission accomplished Chef!
Dishes to share, I love this formula which allows us to taste all kinds of dishes and discuss them with friends.
I loved this modern gastronomy full of flavors, superb highlighting of Quebec terroir
Super successful birthday dinner with quality dishes to share The atmosphere is cozy The products are fresh
This restaurant deserves more than 5 stars. Everything is superb, from the welcome to the food and the service. Simple and refined cuisine with fresh quality products. Very well thought out and well proportioned three-step formula. Thumbs up for the bring your own wine option. I highly recommend it. Thank you to the whole team for this evening. WELL DONE
This was, quite by a fair margin, the best culinary experience we had during the vacation in Montreal. Every item on the menu (the duck and pea soup were particularly yummie) provided a new adventure in quebeqoise cuisine. If you have the opportunity, pay them a visit and dont forget to bring your own wine
a discovery beyond our expectations! a few steps from the Olympia a cuisine worthy of a Michelin star Vegetarian options: the beet salad was delicious
Food was excellent, service a little long...if we had taken 3 courses, we would have been late for our show despite having specified this when booking online and when we arrived at the restaurant. Unfortunately, despite the soft music, the restaurant is very, very noisy. Vegetarian options: Weird to ask us which dishes we recommend since it wasnt on the menu here. It looks like your interface is not up to date. For your information, we ate bourgot, beetroot and lamb.
Excellent, one of the best restaurants in Montreal!!!
Expensive for so little on the plate and limited menu choice
Excellent food. Very friendly waiters. However, it was a very, very long time before we got our plates as part of a 3 course. And it was way too hot inside the restaurant. It was truly a feeling shared by the entire table. That said, every plate was appreciated. Really good food!
This restaurant was highly recommended by friends who had visited Montreal recently and whose opinions on food I completely trust. It lived up to my expectations. Service was enthusiastic and professional. Servers explained details of the menu and provided guidance. The three of us shared 7 or 8 small plates, each of which was delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant.
My friend and I were visiting Montreal for the weekend. After hearing good things about Othym we decided to give it a try. It s a small, cozy place. Our server was super nice; he went over the menu for us. And recommended some dishes. We start with the carrots and chanterelle mushrooms. They were so good, we also ordered raw Arctic char and raw scallops. Everything was amazing. We are definitely going back if we visit Montreal again! This place is very demure. Vegetarian options: Carrots and mushrooms
Went for dinner here 2 weeks ago with my wife. It is a BYO, so we brought a half bottle of white and a full bottle of red with us to enjoy with our meal. We picked 4 dishes and some bread. 1st 2 dishes were, Pétoncles crus de Tadoussac and Tartelette à loignon confit both very tasty. Next we had Chanterelles de lOutaouais and Duck 2 ways. Everything was fresh and tasted great, we will defiantly be back.
All the dishes were excellent and the service impeccable. You can trust the servers recommendations. The only downside is that the place is poorly soundproofed and therefore noisy.
Good restaurant. The dishes are good, well cooked, with local products. The quantities per plate are small, to taste several dishes. Good atmosphere, not too noisy, pleasant as a couple or with friends
The appetizer is really good. Main dish is not bad but not as good as expected. Dessert was good!
Great BYOB spot, lovely vegetarian options, excellent dessert, pleasant atmosphere, and friendly service. Thanks very much!
Great Meal. Went with every Vegetarian meal on the list between us. good service. The fact you can bring your own wine was a nice touch. They could use some music playing in the background and maybe a candle on the table to improve the atmosphere. If they had music on . You could barely hear it.
Amazing experience and harmony of flavours. Highly recommend.
a very pleasant taste experience! we will come back for sure.
Despite being almost 20 years old, this pretty little neighborhood restaurant knows how to renew itself and offers a varied menu and with a big bonus, mainly Quebecois products. And always a pleasure to have such a great bring your own wine offer. Lets start with THE negative point: unfortunately, the noise. Difficult, despite a table of 2, to have a conversation. Not because of the music but rather because of the space and the guests chatting and the layout means that it is excessively noisy. For the rest, full card. Friendly welcome, impeccable service, our server was present at the right times and was able to explain the menu to us and guide us through our experience. Couples evening, so we opted to share. Appetizer: tuna tataki on shiso leaf. 5/5 Vegetable level: romanesco cabbage and celery root tartellete. 4.5/5 Protein level: Redfish (fish) and Lamb Cavatelli. 5/5. Lamb, a MUST. Just awesome. We indulged in desserts. In hindsight, one for two would have been enough, but....very good too. Koji Cake. Yes yes, mushrooms in a dessert. It was really good. Donut with rutabaga. Two people, two opinions. Too rich for one, excellent for the other. Overall, a great evening. Very good value for money. Long live O Thyme.
Excellent food. But a little pricey for the small quantities.
Welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable staff; and omg the food. Everything was amazing, and for me the surprise star of the show was the wild mushrooms in chicken gravy, with a poached egg. No pics because I was too busy eating it! Will definitely be back
A very nice address, the dishes are really delicious, the small problem would be the friendliness of the waiter, not at all pleasant, too bad.
A succulent meal with a more than perfect dose of flavor, it was divine. Exceptional service and very satisfying portions. You have to discover this restaurant which takes the time to take care of all its dishes. Love on your plate and much more
One of the best meals Ive had in Montréal. The flavors were spot-on and well-balanced, the dishes were creative but true to Quebécois cuisine, excellent service.
I might become a vegetarian. I have never tasted such interesting and delicious vegetarian dishes. The lamb was also good, rounding out an excellent dinner.
Excellent tapas-style dishes, very tasty, sophisticated and made from local ingredients
A little expensive value for money
Every dish is unique and well balanced. My favorite dish is the mushrooms. The scallops are great too!
All the staff is a wonderful and welcoming! Best service ever as always!
Excellent cuisine, inventive and refined. Congratulations to the whole team.
Great dinner, excellent service and good atmosphere. Excellent ingredients and interesting combinations. Best dinner so far in Montreal
Great service. Fresh and high quality ingredients. Awesome presentation. A perfect medley to flavours. Highly recommend. Enjoy.
Delicious food, good service, but extremely noisy and too hot. Tables too close together. Unfortunately we couldnt wait to get out of the restaurant.
Wow! Everything was fabulous! Remarkable raw char! Impeccable service. Nice little neighborhood restaurant with great attention to quality local products! And bring your own wine! Very affordable.
Superb market cuisine. Very beautiful plates and very good service from our young waiter who knew his menu very well. A beautiful address!!!
The restaurant offers an original and innovative menu. Superb dining experience.
We enjoyed the innovative dishes and excellent service while visiting Montreal. Food was high quality, fresh & full of flavor. Our first dinner was so good that we came back for dinner the following evening to try different dishes. Vegetarian options: There was a variety of flavorful vegetarian dishes.
Outstanding food with great service and fair prices
The place is extremely noisy and hot. As they have an old tiny air conditioner for the room. So we were sweating. The noise is so high I could not hear my friend talking to me from the other side of the table. The waiter was very nice. The food tastes very good but the portions are tiny. 29$+tx+service that s almost 39 dollars for two tiny pieces of duck. On micro veggies. Add it that 17+tx+service for four small pieces on coliflower on some sort of crème. That s 23$ for a tiny veggies. The location is also not so nice with drug addicts around. I would not recommend to go. As the quality/price isn t there anymore. I used to really like this place.
Very pleasant moment but value for money a little expensive for what you get
Respect for ingredients, careful presentation and satisfied taste buds. A great experience.
Delightful and delicious. Local fresh small plates for sharing. The lamb corn pasta and tuna tartare with shishito cream were both outstanding. Our service was lovely despite a very busy room. Dont forget BYOB.
It s been a long time since I ate so well in Montreal! And the impeccable service. Hats off to the waiter who knows his menu perfectly and for his honesty in advising me to remove a dish from my choices. It would definitely have been too much in terms of quantity. That s exactly why I m going back there shortly
Service was great and food was even better. Good variety of choices, the food is favouring local produces. All in all great place to be and well worth every penny.
Food was wonderful - interesting, unique and well-prepared. Service was very good - relaxed, attentive and comfortable. Only knock was that it was a little noisy when dinner hour peaked, but will definitely be back and will be excited to see what the menu brings next.
Very nice quebec place
Very well cooked small dishes with fresh produce, excellent staff, a real moment of pleasure. The only possible point to improve: the acoustics of the room (a little noisy). Go ahead, you have to do it again and again!!
Excellent cuisine worthy of an excellent French gastronomy on the other hand sound ambiance worthy of a school canteen or a pub at the end of the evening even our Parisian brasseries do not reach such a sound level! AVOID.
Really delicious, all the ingredients are from Quebec, the black beer brownie is worth the detour! Great choice of vegetables, seafood and local meats.
What an extraordinary restaurant. Impeccable service. The chanterelles were divine. Already looking forward to going back. The noise level is quite high, but you get used to it Vegetarian options: Lots of nice and good choices
Truly among the best and above all unpretentious, tasty with a beautiful presentation of the dishes
You are perfect! A real treasure. Only one downside: the room absorbs noise very poorly, which makes conversation very difficult. Kid-friendliness: Very nice.
We appreciated the kindness and explanations of our server, and being able to bring our wine. The flavors of the dishes are sophisticated and original and the ingredients are local as much as possible.
Scallops from Tadoussac, lamb from Dominic Roxton-Falls and chanterelles from Outaouais, a delight. The service is personalized, pleasant and mega warm! To visit
We had a wonderful evening at OThym. Outstanding service and the food was delicious.
A culinary experience that leaves a lasting impression! Excellent combination of local ingredients and fusion elements. Each dish has its unique identity. Well done to the whole team!
All dishes were refined and executed with care. Really delicious and great service!
The food is amazing! and whats more, its a BYOB. It is a tapas formula, very popular for tasting several dishes.
Excellent cuisine. Very nicely presented and plate. Very flavourful. I will be back again!
Othym has been a must visit when I visit Montreal for over 10 years now. I enjoy the new menu format. Im glad my server convinced me to try the lamb heart, amazing. The lobster on pasta with truffles was probably my favourite of the 10 plates we tried/shared. Our server was very attentive and joined in on our joking mood. Most of our food is not on the list below.
We were visiting Montreal from the USA. Husband had spent time in Quebec City, but not Montreal. We wanted to find a restaurant that served Quebec-sourced food and stumbled upon OThym. This was THE best meals we had in Montreal! Amazing food! Great staff, too. We started with local sodas. All were super tasty. Then we had the Asparagus dish. Husband really liked this one. Wife and child (11 yo) favored the Radish in brown butter dish - child sopped it all up with her bread. For our main dishes we got the Duck, which was cooked two ways: grilled and sous vide. Both were fantastic! The meat was succulent and not too fatty, the sauces were perfectly balanced to accent the duck. The cauliflower puree was a surprising treat, as well. Next, we had the lamb (wifes favorite) with sweat peas, herbs butter, and kohlrabi. Amazing. Perfectly cooked. Last, we adventurously got the seal fritter with cucumber, cilantro, and dill. The seal was ground up and mixed with wild rice and fried. This is the first time any of us had seal and we didnt quite like it. The dish was delicious, but I think the seal part turned us off a bit. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone! We got a reservation on Sunday for a Monday evening sitting - no problem. Our child tried everything, but she was feeling adventurous. I can see some kids not wanting to try the food - but if they do, theyll love it. Menu was in French, but there was a QR code for an English version. We conversed with the staff in a mix of French and English, but the staff spoke English. Prices were great (but the USD-CAD exchange rate was good, too). Vegetarian options: We got the Asparagus from Enracinés farm, which came with white turnips, nduja cream, and camelina. This was husbands favorite dish. The nduja cream was heavenly and complimented the asparagus and turnips perfectly. We also got the Radish in brown butter with fermented Japanese knotweed, and corn chips. Wife and child (11 yo) LOVED this dish. it was creamy and succulent. Child sopped up all of the remaining sauce with some baguette.
My favorite restaurant in Montreal and I have lived in Montreal for over 10 years!!! Everything is impeccable, tasty and magical! I recommend it to everyone for all occasions!
Outstanding food from local sources. Very informative and attentive staff. Will always come back when in Montreal. I ate there twice this week. Both times were incredible dining experiences.
Awesome food, Michelin level!!!
Extraordinary!!!! What an experience, what a beautiful evening!
This was my first time to this venue, and I have to say it was a very enjoyable experience. Our server was very friendly and helpful, describing the dishes, in detail, as he delivered them. There was not a dud among any of our selections. We started with the Bufflone Mozzarella, not something I would normally choose, but my host selected it, and it was fantastic. Fresh and bursting with flavor, I would order this anytime. We had it with the Scallops from Ile-De-La-Madeleine, which were also so fresh and well prepared. Next we had Domincs lamb. I love lamb, and this version did not disappoint. Great to see that they prepared it rare, which to my taste, was spot on. It was so tender and moist, we should have ordered another serving. My host finished the meal with the crème brûlée. I sampled it, and declared it another winner. Deliciously creamy with a crunchy crust, it had an interesting texture due to the addition of buckwheat. The venue, being a BYOB, made for an even better experience, as we could curate our own pairing by perusing the menu beforehand. I will definitely add OThym to my Montréal dining roster. A most satisfying experience. My one criticism, was that service was a bit slow. However, the food was terrific, and thats what really counts.
Very good restaurant, however quite small portion (tapas style). Very tasty
@lydieats Not sure what makes a place Québécois but that s what O-Thyme claims to be and I m here for it. Everything tastes simple and fresh, great quality seafood, & just good cooking overall! Loved the scallops wrapped in spinach. Tender with its delicate sweetness presented so well Tartar was another fav - flagrant dill oil and shallot confit comes together beautifully. Scoop it up with the chips for an added crunch! scallops $29* arctic char tartar $25* Morel Mushroom Tartlet $24 king oyster mushroom $23 duck goulu $29 buckwheat pizza $14 koji cake $14 Montreal is a city where you come to eat. Theres nothing to do, but all the restaurants are great and the prices are very reasonable. This place was classified as a Quebec restaurant, but I dont know what Quebec style is, but it feels a bit modern French... ? We were very satisfied because it was clean and delicious and the quality of the ingredients was good!! I recommend the spinach-wrapped scallop trout(?) tartare. These are fresh dishes filled with spring~
Excellent dinner, dessert so good
Very good and nice little neighborhood restaurant. Very good dishes to share, very good local products. It s a BYOB. The service was impeccable. Very good value for money. Well come back to that.
Everything was good, the only downside is that it is noisy and cacophonous. The atmosphere is good but not recommended for a romantic dinner.
Delicious dishes. Wide variety of regional products.
Excellent French dishes! Extra care is tasted upon each item you taste. Order a variety in order to best enjoy. Be sure to bring a bottle of wine w/ you. They are BYOB
A wonderful dining experience, as always! Excellent service from an innovative and eclectic kitchen. One of our favourite BYOW restaurants in Montreal!
The food is super good.
Weve been going to OThym for years and its always a great experience. Well done and long life! Parking: Lots of places on Atateken
Simply wonderful as always
Very good BYOB place in the village, fresh, local and seasonal products, delicious!! Ive been going there for 10 years now and the experience only gets better each time. For me one of the best restaurants in Montreal.
So good!
Excellent!!!
The food was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately we felt a bit neglected by the server, who didnt explain anything on the menu to us, didnt even tell us where the menu was (we didnt know the whole menu was on the wall behind us).
Very good table. Local, seasonal products, very well prepared. Bring your own wine!
Wasn t my favorite. We were put in the back corner with very little ventilation. We ordered two of the veggie dishes, which both came with large amounts of whipped and airy cheese. I wish the waiter would have given us a heads up about the amount of cheese we were ordering. The shrimp was okay. The scallops were the star of the show. Huge plus: BYOB! Such a fun concept and perfect for a date night. Overall, I wouldn t return. But I suggest it if you are looking for an experience.
This is a restaurant to discover. You have to go back to taste new things in every season. The portions are perfect for sharing or for yourself and allow us to taste several products that highlight Quebec and its producers. Everything is excellent.
Great restaurant, everything is good, it s not complicated! I highly recommend.
I ve been to this restaurant 4 times throughout 2 years and the quality always remains incredible . Ingredients are all Canadian local ingredients and the food is incredible . It s bring your own wine as well so you save on wine cost and you get amazing quality food
We had several dishes to share: they were all excellent! In addition, the servers were very nice and gave very good advice. I recommend it with my eyes closed, we will return without hesitation!
Great restaurant featureing local ingredients. They let you bring your own wine without a corkage fee so that helps keep it affordable. Food is excellent and a great value. We always visit when in Montreal.
Glad to have reconnected with this restaurant that we had abandoned in recent years due to the low quality of the food based on the price paid. Everything came back to the way it was at the beginning when we were charmed by this restaurant. Keep this same path.
The cuisine is just extraordinary!!! If you want explosions of flavor in your mouth, this is the right place Special mention for the crème brûlée
What a great discovery! We loved it, the quality of the cuisine and the service charmed us. We will definitely come back.
Such an amazing experience Creative interesting tastes and textures. A real gastronomic and esthetic pleasure. mpeccable service. As recommended in the menu, we ordered 3 dishes per person, and, honestly, they are not so small. I think, even 2 per person could be enough, but, obviously, we wanted to try more :) We paid about 190 CAD total plus tips for 6 dishes and a dessert. Worth every penny. Unfortunately, we were absolutely immersed by the taste, so we forgot to take some pictures.
Great dining experience from beginning to end. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. My friend and I shared six choices from the menu (entrees, main and dessert) and each one was an explosion of flavours in our mouths. Would definitely go back!
Super nice discovery, to try with friends to share dishes and taste a bit of everything. Unique flavors, a favorite!
My taste buds were pampered
Nothing to say it s delicious
Visit 04/24/24 First time at this restaurant, Beautiful menu offering several options Very well served Tables are a little tight but I would still go again Wheelchair accessibility: Cramped inside not ideal for moving around
Perfect
Its been a long time since Ive been there... the flavors are extraordinary, but I didnt like the smaller portions menu... it lacked starchy foods. I didnt leave feeling satisfied.
The dishes are small and sometimes lack flavor. Some were cold. Above all, there was a lack of a minimum of accompaniments in the various dishes, even a few small vegetables or starchy foods to add more flavor and color.
We recently dined at OThym and it was a truly special experience. The restaurant has just a few tables, which adds to the intimate and exclusive feel. Its worth noting, though, that this can make booking a table a bit tricky. We really enjoyed the small plates concept, sampling a variety of dishes. Each plate was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. However, we felt that the portion size for some dishes, like the duck, was a bit small considering the price. The service was a highlight discreet, friendly, and very attentive to details. It made our evening even more enjoyable. Overall, it s a fantastic spot if youre looking for an intimate dining experience with top-notch service, although booking ahead is a must!
Excellent, nothing more to say, we are on our second visit. On our next visit to Montreal we will return there.
Excellent experience once again. Very good food, very pleasant and accommodating service. The only downside is the noise level, a fairly common problem in similar restaurants in Montreal.
Very very small portions, 2 starters, 2 main courses, $130 for one person and bring your own wine! Vegetarian options: As a starter
Everything is great except as often in noisy restaurants when the restaurant is full
Great. Many small dishes, all delicious
Great BYOB spot! Every dish was great. 5-6 dishes for 2 people is perfect amount of food. Very friendly and helpful service!!
A must for a good meal in Montreal. And it s a BYOB. Exquisite dishes with local products and impeccable service. One of my favorite restaurants in Montreal! Vegetarian options: Lots of delicious plates, overflowing with vegetables
WOW! Just went again; it has gotten even better than 5 stars! I have been to OThym at least 10 times over the last 6 or 7 years (with 2 years off due to covid) and it has consistently been a 5-star experience. It is one of my two favorite BYOW in Montreal. I bring my high-end Italian and Spanish wines here, while the other is more suited to French wines (although OThym went well with chateau Pavie). I think OThyms cuisine is a bit similar to Italian cuisine, in that it is a bit more more flavorful than French cuisine. OThym reminds me of hunting cuisine because of those strong flavors. I can also guarantee that you will have unknown vegetables in your plate... I have tried at least 20 BYOW. My other favorites Zeste de Folie and Beurre Noisette have closed; even Christophe has closed. Usually, BYOW have some great appetizers or a few great main courses; most have average deserts. When six people are wowed by their appetizer, six are wowed by their main course, and six are wowed by their desert (not counting a very interesting cheese platter), this was for me unheard of (6 years ago).
I love this restaurant: the dishes are delicious, you can taste different dishes, all well prepared, tasty and original. The service is very pleasant and attentive. We had a great time!
Excellent!!! Parking: Electric parking Food : 5/5 |
Every dish was great- the only downside is I wanted more- but It was so great. Recommend the gnudi, asparagus cavatelli, and king oyster mushrooms! Wish I would ve taken pictures but It was too good to wait
