Cozy spot in saint henri. nice vibes inside and cozy atmosphere. Nice spot to grab drinks or have a date night. Service was okay. Expansive wine list.
Where do I begin on this charming amazing restaurant? The atmosphere is intimate, nice and inviting. It is nice and laid back during the day (great coffee and sandwiches), and perfect ambiance for the dinner service. The service is exceptional- very friendly, polite, and knowledgeable about the menu items. The food is outstanding- most of the ingredients are locally sourced and the dishes are prepared with intricacy and thought - you can tell the chefs really care. Highly recommend this neighbourhood restaurant!
Nice to try beef offral, fish of the day and lamb belly! Really enjoy the whole dishes. Definitely be back soon
Wow, what a culinary experience! We had the tasting menu and every dish was so we'll balanced with flavors and fresh ingredients. We really enjoyed every dish and had great wines paired with every course. My favorite dish was the japenese sweet potato with a butter sauce and escargot (chef's kiss)! All the meats were cooked to perfection. We will certainly be back soon. Merci beaucoup!
Great food, with a relatively unique choice of plates. Went as a group and we all opted for the tasting menu, so a bit of everything. The staff were very polite, and explained each dish. The seating arrangement can be a tad cramped, but the ambiance is good.
Last night was my first time at Bonheur d’occasion and I’m most definitely going back. The vibe is ambient and nonchalant, sort of like Knox, In many ways. The service was incredible and as was the food. One of the most memorable dishes was the fried brussel sprouts (believe it or not ), they were so perfectly crispy; served on a bed of hazelnut cream , which added a sweet and unique touch. I liked the hot fish platter, composed of few grilled shrimps, baby octopus and scallops, a treat on the eyes and lips. The cocktail menu was small, but I loved every cocktail I tried. The smoked meat dish was also interesting, although I would describe it more as short ribs, which is far more superior in my opinion. Had a deconstructed Mille-feuille to end the night on a sweet note.
Lovely place, and the service was excellent. The food was slightly pricey for the quality. Great for a glass of wine, but would not recommend the main dishes. Side dishes should do the trick.
Great food and drinks! Everything is wonderful, the shrimp is really good and the steak tastes like char siu but delicious. Only thing is that the portion is too small for a meal, we are still really hungry after spent $100 for 2 people...come for a drink, don't come for an actual dinner! Hope they'll launch some happy hour so we can enjoy more food and drinks!😋
Flawless! You made us feel so welcome for our office Christmas party. Everything was so good, with a warm atmosphere and really welcoming service. THANKS! Vegetarian options: The vegetarians in the group were VERY satisfied!
Superb place! I introduced it to my family and they really liked it. The portions are a little small, we had to force the bread. On the other hand, it s delicious! Lots of flavors! Sparkling water is made with a soda stream. Yes we like bottled sparkling water . Audreanne was able to serve us with great attentiveness and kindness. Well come back for sure!
amazing coffee in the daytime with light lunch (Tuesday to Sunday). amazing atmosphere, food, and service by night. great for dates or with friends.
The food was really very good. The wine was also excellent. The menu is quite short which is a very good sign. The place is very nice in terms of atmosphere.
Excellent French bistro
Will go back again :)
I am a regular at Montréal à Table, which I do every year in search of favorites to include in my list of restaurants I want to return to regularly. This was not the case with Occasional Happiness. The quality of the food was good and I dont question this. On the other hand, I found that it was extremely expensive and excessive ($80) for the quantities served, which were tiny. The addition of the wine pairing is also exaggerated ($50) for the quantity of wine served. In short, paying almost $200 including tip and being hungry again 1 hour after returning home does not contribute to the fact that I had a pleasant experience that remains in my memory and my heart. I dont regret trying the restaurant, but I wont go back, I wont include it in my list of favorites and I wont use word of mouth to recommend it.
An absolute favourite of many for dinner, lunch or even breakfast. Great vibe and amazing food (and coffee!). Better than many overhyped restaurants with similar style
Nice quaint place to hang out in St. Henri area. Has a good selection of eclectic choices on the menu. Their sausage dish with egg, bread and their special homemade sauce with green salad is unique and tasty. Dietary restrictions: Can ask for dairy free items Parking: Paid street parking
We booked for a group of 20 people, communication was very easy to book for a large group, the group menu formula at the sharing menu level was very good, the food was good and the portions generous. Very nice selection of wines in bottle and by the glass and pretty terrace!
Excellent coffee, and great establishment name :)
This was hands down the worst experience ever. Where do you I start? I have never felt so unwelcome right from the start. The waitress with long dark hair Claudie is blatantly impolite and literally racist. When asked a simple question if we could blindly take a wine pairing her reaction and response were strong and shockingly unexpected. Then she served the wine literally below the line. To my question if it was a norm she, again, had a strong reaction and poured it by saying voilà comme ca personne n a pas de problème instead of just politely apologising for her own mistake. The manager had to explain that she probably had her personal issues hence her behaviour. But are we coming to dine in to pay over 200$ bill for this kind of experience? If it wasn t for the manager s intervention and replacing the waitress we would have left without even touching the food. Why do I say racist? Because I observed her serving other groups of people and she appeared so kind and welcoming with her opening lines and explanation of every dish (which we didn t even have). And of course, cherry on top, she was answering in English (while being a québécoise herself) whereas I was perfectly speaking French (just not with québécois accent). Was it just assuming that Asian people don t speak French? Now about the food. We couldn t even finish the main dish (lamb) as it was 100% grease and no meat. The fish was overly salted. The desserts were also left unfinished. Overall, the service is below the minimum standard and food is not worthy the price. Big disappointment for a place that is supposed to be a nice neighbourhood restaurant. Definitely not going back and not recommending to friends and family.
A nice restaurant or refreshment bar? Because the portions are very small. absolutely delicious and above all magnificent for a drink as a couple or with a friend All the dishes were delicious and seasonal. In my opinion, it would be really good to improve the wine list by the glass, 2 choices is a bit limited Avoid for those with a big appetite..
4-course fixed menu for groups. What delights! All the dishes to share were delicious and varied. Excellent service. Absolutely recommended!
We took the tasting menu, it might have been a mistake, we should have chosen our plans. We were served liver mousse (we don t really like liver), bread (good but stuffy) then heirloom tomatoes (good) and scallops (very good!). Fish (very good) and guinea fowl (delicious) to finish. The dishes are well executed, the presentation is neat, but the tasting menu could be improved. The wine pairing was perfect. The sommelier does an excellent job. The German Riesling was wonderful. The service is impeccable. The atmosphere is good, although a little simple. The chairs and utensils/plates are a bit simplistic. In short, we would have preferred to choose à la carte, there was lamb and interesting starters. We had a lovely evening. To try again.
Good service, small delicious plate, a little disappointed with this week s special (halibut), tasted weird.
I fell in love with this friendly place that offers warm service and a comforting menu at a more than reasonable price. The dishes are beautiful to look at and wonderful to taste. With my colleagues, we went back there because we all loved our first experience. We will definitely go back
Excellent!
A hidden gem. We sat outside and had bleu cheese with apricot, scallops, dover sole, and pork. The scallops and the cheese were simple and wonderful. The sole and pork were traditional and exquisite. The mille feuille for dessert should not be missed. We also had both creative and traditional cocktails that were prepared with passion. Definitely worth a trip!
Rating the café; haven t experienced dinner service YET: Vivian, the co-owner at FOH is super diligent and laid back at the same time. You feel at home, yet well taken care of. Matcha quality is high (Camélia senesis), coffee beans are good (49th parallel) although something local and of equal price would be better, like Myriade. Baristas know what they re doing, unlike most restaurants that offer a cafe setup. Viennoiseries are from Hof Kelsten TOP! Fair pricing - their stuff is pricey but you get what you pay for. Didn t try the newly offered lunch/brunch menu cause we came 30 min before it starts. Terrace is big and in the sun with shade, music was jazzy and fun! Inside is also so cozy and chic, and I love that the large window/wall is partially open when the weather is nice :) My only recommendation as a customer would be to get Myriade or another similarly affordable Montreal roaster of quality in the hopper
Gorgeous! What delicious flavors! Such wonderful flavors. So delicious!
Everything is very good and very fresh, the service is also very pleasant, to definitely do again
Such a fun place; we showed up 15 minutes early, and that was not an issue. The reception was warm and friendly, the service was impeccable, and the food was delicious!!
Great food and service, fun atmosphere! Very reasonable prices too!!
Great service and the lamb was really good
Memorable experience. The meal was delicious, tasty and original. A mastery of flavors. We shared 4 starters (black pudding, Brussels sprouts and Jerusalem artichokes, asparagus, sea urchins) and 2 main courses (char and duck breast), all washed down with a good bottle of red wine: we had a blast! I am delighted with this experience and I recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Exceptional lunch! Great juice, great coffee, super chill. Polenta was out of this world.
great vibes and amazing food!
Overall really good, but portions are quite small
Atmosphere, food, service and wine, everything was perfect
Service OK. Very small plate. Must order another plate to fill up a bit. With a minimalist atmosphere. In the end $$$$ for what is delivered!
Delicious food at a reasonable price, impeccable service and a relaxed atmosphere. Favorite for the bottle of wine!
Great disappointment with our experience during Montreal in Lights 2024. Complicated to reconfirm the reservation, no telephone number to reach the restaurant Female staff condescending to customers Nice decor Their menu: Oyster and green pepper bisque, delicious Crudo halibut too vinegary Exceptional hot bread (from Jeff) Excellent BarBQ beef heart Monkfish tasty dish but the accompaniment of the whole artichoke with its egg sauce is of no interest as a complement for this supposedly gourmet meal Very interesting and delicious dessert, this caramel tart sprinkled with blue cheese Vegetarian options: For Montreal in Lights, a complete menu for vegetarians
Great spot for a coffee and a snack, really cool atmosphere, great service :)
Great discovery for us as part of the Montréal en Lumières festival. We feasted! The chefs invited for the occasion have concocted a very beautiful tasting menu. With the food and wine pairing, it was perfect and the value for money was excellent. The welcome was warm and the service was up to par. Truly a wonderful evening! We will happily return there outside of the festival, that s for sure.
We really liked it. Impeccable service (thanks Pat!), with several little touches for my girlfriends party. Special mention for the boudin, but especially for the mille-feuille. Nice gang and fun restaurant. Lots of potential!
A great experience in a friendly place. The beet salad was refreshing and delicious! The char with its vermouth sauce, creamy and well seasoned, a slight disappointment for the hot seafood platter, which lacked a little soul. We finished on a sweet note, a light and well-balanced dessert with the chocolate hazelnut royal cake! Thank you to the team for this wonderful birthday evening!!
Good service. We really enjoyed the vegetarian dishes (beetroot salad, Brussels sprouts) and the cocktails. Hot seafood - overcooked. Smoked beef - ok nothing more. Nice place
Everything we ordered was incredibly delicious, more specifically the radicchio salad and the Arctic char. The wait staff was kind and attentive. The only down side is how uncomfortable the seating is at the bar. Stools are never great but these ones in particular were small, in no way meant for a standard-sized adult. The back-rest was flimsy and the solidity of the whole structure was questionable.
No way to see the menu without logging into Instagram - I dont have an account - apparently. Such a boring reason to go and spend elsewhere, there is no shortage of good restaurants in the area. Damage!
Love this place for both coffee and dinner. The staff here have always been extremely friendly and passionate about their little spot they ve created!
Excellent appetizers and desserts, good wine selection. The « mains » need a little improvement to make them wow. Overall we spent a great night and enjoyed our dinner.
The food was great, the service was very slow. I got the dish of the day which was fish with a mushroom and artichoke sauce. I also got the deconstructed Mille feuille, very sweet but good.
Loved my visit. Food is spectaculer, service amazing and the employees care. We stopped in for breakfast and came back that night for an espresso martinee. Cant wait to go back to Montreal. When we do we know where we are going for coffee. Bon Heur DOccasion have a wonderful January!
Kind and knowledgeable service, and some of the best dishes I have had in years.
The food is wonderful and the service is impeccable!! We had a great time :)
Very nice place! The dishes were beautiful and delicious, and the service was exceptional! To try
It was a warm and welcoming experience, good friendly atmosphere around good wines paired with exquisite dishes. Music sets the perfect mood for special occasion happiness. Everything is a wonderful symbiosis! Not to be missed
Superb evening at Bonheur d Occasion! Joyful and warm atmosphere. Impeccable food. Outstanding service. THANKS!!! I will definitely come back
Great ambiance, the friendliest staff & amazing food! Will absolutely be back!
New restaurant in the neighborhood! Honestly, the food was great! I cant wait to go back
Excellent restaurant, great food!
Best food friendly staff
I had a delicious dinner here. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The wine recommended to us was nice and the service was all around attentionate!
Excellent dishes, impeccable service, good wine, beautiful atmosphere! What more could you ask for?
Warm ambience and superb food prepared and served by staff who care.
Great food, drink, and atmosphere, with OUT OF THIS WORLD great desserts! Just opened and already hitting it out of the park.
Droped in on St Patricks day, well I could not have had a better moment, met great people, customers, staff, owner. Definitely gooing back soon. I am hopping to make it one of my go to spots.
Amazing experience! Every dish is fantastic, cooked to perfection and flavorful. Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely establishment!
Bonheur d Occasion is a charming new restaurant located on Notre-Dame Ouest in Saint-Henri that is also a café by day. The menu is fresh, vibrant, local with generous portions perfect to share as a group with affordable prices all around. Bonheur d Occassion is by far un de mes coup de c ur for 2023, keep up the amazing work.
amazing food!! super cute place!!
Everything they do is good
Really loved the place. All the food was good, but particularly loved the brussel sprouts starter and the trout
Delicious with a great atmosphere and impeccable service, I recommend to everyone!
Its a 5/5 all around. I discovered this little wonder of a restaurant thanks to my friend. We eat (and drink) very well there! The atmosphere is cool and I found the decor original :) I will come back to introduce this address to my loved ones in turn :)
Wandered in here completely by accident and ended up loving it! Great vibes
Very good food and reasonable price Excellent cocktail. Exceptional improvised mocktail on request. In short, extremely friendly
The cutest new place in St Henri!! The cafe experience during the day is great - the coffee, food, music and service is EXCELLENT. Very sunny and warm atmosphere. A MUST go to place!
Thanks to Clément, a barista with irresistible coffee and unparalleled hospitality
So beautiful
Best in the world
Superb new address in the St Henri district. The food is incredible (the menu changes regularly, which is really nice when you live in the area and want to come there often), the welcome and the service are perfect, and the prices are very fair.
Delicious food, great cocktails and outstanding service. Shoutout Pep for his service and cocktails! We will be back
I love it! Great people, Great food and Great beverage
Great last minute find. Small restaurant on a street corner with a small terrace in the heart of St Henri. The food is excellent, we had the paina los, hot lers fruit, crudo, guinea fowl, asparagus and morels: simply delicious. Desserts are to die for Their service was excellent!
A bistronomic market cuisine where the flavors are each more incredible than the last! A pleasant welcome and a resolutely efficient service what more could you ask for!!!
A warm atmosphere, a very friendly welcome, impeccable service! What can we say about the chef s creativity? Simply congratulations! The dishes are magnificent and the flavors extraordinary! It was delicious! We will come back for sure! THANKS!
The service was great, the wine recommendations excellent, the terrace is very nice! Almost all the dishes we had were very delicious, just spicy enough and made with fresh ingredients. We highly recommend!
Great find in St-Henri. A charming atmosphere, a super friendly team and everything was delicious. Among other things, sweetbreads to roll around on the ground. The only downside is the comfort of the chairs. Very cute though!
Bonheur d Occasion has a charming neighborhood vibe with very friendly prices, We went for the soft shelled crab sandwich special promoted on Instagram. The sandwiches were a bargain at $12 each. We sat on the beautiful and large terrace which is on a side street, keeping it relatively free of traffic noise. They had a small but excellent selection of fairly priced wines by the bottle and glass and we enjoyed a crisp rosé. The people running the restaurant are generous and friendly and welcoming to all. We will return often!
So good! For the adventurous pallet. Local, fresh, unique. I ve eaten a lot of foods and this place surprised me very pleasantly. Worth a try. I ll be back for sure !!!
Very tasty.
Central air, good tunes
The chef, Phillipe is one of the most talented young chefs Ive ever known. He needs to write a cookbook. Every dish is incredible. Today was just another of many of our visits. Five of us, six dishes. All different. All delicious. The service is terrific too. Its my favorite restaurant by far.
Overall very ok . The food looked great (very instagramable) but most of it was a little bland. The one standout was the baked scallops in the warm seafood platter. The shrimp and octopus, however, were both overcooked and under seasoned. Service could use some polish also. Everyone was very polite but small kinks to iron out (brought us our salad dish as the final plate after all the hot food had been eaten, waiter kept grabbing my cocktail glass with his fingers on the rim where you drink from rather than the body of the glass). This spot has potential and room to improve.
Incredible atmosphere and the best food Ive had in Montreal
Excellent meal in a lovely setting which allowed us to discover the Saint-Henri district. Attentive service, refined and sought-after cuisine
Very nice cafe/restaurant. Staff was very good, made me feel like I was at some friends house. Food and coffee was also of excellent quality
Good food, good location and the best people put bonheure d occasion on your restaurant list, it s a must!
Very good dishes, there were 5 of us and we tasted several dishes, the seafood, asparagus and the chocolate cake were my favorites, I was disappointed with the tomatoes (no taste and it is in season!!) and caramel cream. But the most disappointing thing was the atmosphere, the music was so loud that we werent able to talk to each other.
Beautiful neighborhood restaurant, simple dishes but of superb quality!
Impeccable every time you visit! The dishes are absolutely delicious with fresh seasonal ingredients, attentive service and a very pleasant atmosphere! A beautiful addition to Notre Dame Street.
The staff are amazing and nice and the chef is really kind! The food is immaculate here, especially the steak and the salad. They made our wedding anniversary super special by giving us complimentary desserts and lemonade. My favorite restaurant in Montreal so far!
Small, slightly expensive place for lunch service. 10$ for a chorizo and fennel sandwich. I definitely recommend the shishito pepper, soft boiled egg and goat cheese sandwich. That one gets 5 stars, though it is 14$ (+tax). Good croissants.
Delicious food, fabulous menu, but I never feel welcomed and this was my sixth time. So lesson learned!
Great food. The tomato appetizer is the best there and the desserts are decent. Would recommend to anyone that can afford this place.
Amazing wine list. I havent tried their food yet but I will!!!
Really like this place, you can sit both indoor and outdoors. The food was good and the deserts are a must try!
Beautiful place, good dish, great team
The pork special was a generous portion. First time we have had chicharron on pork at a restaurant
We visited this restaurant as part of Montréal à table, the 3-course menu for $38. Honestly, we loved our experience. Although a little small, the plates were well presented and the food was excellent. The atmosphere was also relaxed and charming at the same time. Very nice find! Vegetarian options: Several options and accommodations
I had the chance to taste their scones and croissants and they are by far the best I have eaten in my life
We came here for the Montreal a la table, and it was delicious. The squash is very good, never had something like this before. The apple whipped cream dessert is a bit lacking, still good though. The portion is a small for a dinner, but for 38$ per person its expected.
Excellent!! Impeccable service and what can we say about the dishes and wine! Everything was done with a lot of love. The kind of place that is worth a little detour!!
Cool little spot, with a great atmosphere and the food was beyond amazing
A great discovery, exceptional dishes and atmosphere!
We went for mtl at the table, I found it cheap but ultimately it was just small portions, we had to order something else. It ended up costing us quite a bit for what we got. In the end we were a little disappointed, we expected better. I didnt really like the goat cheese starter. On the other hand, nice atmosphere and good service.
#MTLaTABLE event in one of the best restaurants in Canada Beef rump, celeriac, black garlic jus, Vidalia onion Food
Delicious food at a really good price. 10/10 would recommend
Went there as part of the MTL à table event (38$ for 3 courses including desserts) and added the proposed fish entrée for 12$. I heard a lot of good things about this place but I was very dissapointed. Not sure if it was just because it was for this event but the portions were tiny and overall didnt lead to a good price-quantity ratio. With the food and one 10$ glass of wine our bill got to a bit over 70$ after taxes and tip but we were still hungry even though i am not a big eater and usually feel satisfied with a few small plates. The food was very tasty (apart from the dessert) but it really wasnt enough. Looking at the plates around us and the regular price on the menu it seems like it would have been the same outside the MTL à table event. On top of that, the service was lacking. We waited about 30-40 minutes for someone to take our order and at the end when we wanted to order more mentionning we were still hungry, they told us the tables are max for 2h and we had to leave. The waitress did try to find us a spot but the restaurant was fully booked and we had to leave hungry. I really thought I would like this place as I usually love little wine bars like this but really cant justify the price we paid. I think overall it would be a good place to have a drink and a small bite but I dont recommend it as a dinner option.
A wonderful evening at this quaint Saint Henri restaurant. We took advantage of the Mtl à Table 3 course menu with wine pairings and were very glad we did as we were able to try various dishes. The server was very knowledgeable
Very cute place in the heart of St-Henri. The food was inspired and the coffee was good.
Good service!! Food is disappointing After reading the reviews. I will not return.
Nice little neighborhood resto. The food was quality. French with a montreal twist. Cocktails were great. Good wine list. BUT (here comes Karen) woobly church chairs, detailing on finishes missing everywhere, and windy gust of winter cooling the restaurant dampening the cozy, feutré ambiance we all wished for.
We came here very excited to try the food after all the raving reviews. Quite frankly lacklustre and bland for the most part. The beef was quite good, however. Presentation was very nice. I hope this was just a one-off poor night for them.
A very nice discovery in my neighborhood. Cant wait to go back to enjoy their excellent dishes!
Nice little place, good atmosphere, wine bar style. Everything was good but it quickly got expensive. $180 in total for 2 people. Bread, 1 starter, 2 main courses, 1 glass each.
