La cuisine vous propose des plats classiques de brasserie française pour des repas mémorables, tous les jours, au déjeuner, lunch et souper, sans oublier les brunchs les samedis et dimanches. Restaurant in Old Montreal inspired by Paris’s golden-era brasseries, Brasserie 701 welcomes you in a chic decor with its grandiose neo-classical architecture and a lively ambiance. The kitchen serves French brasserie classics for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, with brunch served on weekends.
We had two visits to this bar inside the Hotel Place d'Armes, one was for an afternoon cocktail and a snack- the charcuterie was simple and a good size for pre-dinner snacking. The bartender John was nice to chat with. Then we popped in for breakfast, generous portions and served quickly. We were very pleased with breakfast and a mimosa to end our vacation stay.
Gorgeous setting facing the edge of the cathedral square. Had a great wine selection, food was delicious, and service was good. Uber dropped us off at the intersection just a few steps from the door. DEFINITELY get a reservation. This place is extremely busy but worth it.
This place is amazing. The brunch here is really good. The service is on point, and the attention to detail is beautiful. Not just to the food, but also on the decor. The decor is stunning!!
Lovely restaurant, great food, good atmosphere. Nice indoor ambience, lovely outdoor seating area with great views of Skyscrapers backdrop and lovely sunrise and sunset view. I had a heart experience here, short wait time, responsive and helpful staff, there waiters were very professional, polite and friendly. The meal tasted great with overall lovely presentation. The cost was also very reasonable. Highly recommend! 👌🏿
This restaurant has the potential to be great however the kitchen is perhaps its biggest downfall. Food is okay for French Cuisine, but nothing magical or spectacular. Plates took a very long time to come out, and when they did show up plates were not piping hot. Escargot and Bone Marrow were decent but arrived warm-ish. Gnocchi was very salty… very rich but heavily salted Duck Confit had a good sauce… but it came out dry which suggests it sat there under a warming lamp for an excessive period Price vs value wasn’t there. Too expensive for a mediocre meal. Wait staff though were pleasant and had urgency.
Was searching for a spot to eat in and tried this place as a walk-in. Even though we had no reservations, they seated us at one of their high tables in the corner and we had some great people watching views. Food and service was great. Too full to try the desserts.
I recommend booking, but we waited very little time. The place is very nice and the atmosphere is very good. THANKS, A LOT TO MELISSA AND RAFAEL FOR THEIR EXCELLENT ATTITUDE AND JOY!! The food is simply delicious… I don't remember the name of the kind hostess but thanks to her too.
Nice place right next to Notre Dame. Limited menu of French inspiration. Food was delicious, Chef doing a very good job. Service lacking a bit, it wasn’t very busy and still took a while to get the drinks (and too much for the refills). The snail soup was very filling, but could use some more flavor. The cheese platter was great and everything else was very good.
Vegetarian options: Succulent ratatouille!!! Parking: Go there for lunch, several spaces available from this time, just a stones throw from the restaurant!
Went for lunch and the place felt chaotic and poorly managed. Food took forever to come out and the order was messed up twice. Would not return
Very nice, causy atmosphere. Food is good, yet for the price, portions could be bigger.
Pretty underwhelming and tasteless food. Very disappointed
Our server was Jamie. She gave us a good service and she is welcoming. We asked for recommendations around the city because it s our first time, she gave us many suggestion. I was almost ready to leave but she surprised me with a dessert. Best way to have my bday lunch.
Lots of small problems Order error on the table when there are 5 customers in the room 2 hour wait for 1 starter 2 dishes Electronic music that doesnt go with the place at all The impression that the service had either not started or that it had finished at 8:15 p.m. Lots of noise Lack of professionalism but the server we had made a lot of effort
Fabulous decor. Great experience. Very excited to go back.
This restaurant is a true gem and worth every penny. Whether youre celebrating a special occasion or just treating yourself,701 delivers an unforgettable culinary experience. Highly recommended!
WOW. We enjoyed a small Christmas party here and the service was very friendly, the food amazing, excellent wine options, lovely atmosphere, a little pricy....
Excellent bouillabaisse and lovely ambiance with a fireplace very romantic we loved it
The servers were a bit rude and they were ignoring us, the whole time, the food is good tho, but they need improve in the customer service.
Thank you Elodie for your beautiful gesture
The only downside is that the pepper sauces are too peppery.
Very nice vibe, great food and good portion sizes! The cheese and mushroom omelette, avocado toast, duck benedict and waffles were all really good. Vegetarian options: Avocado toast, cookies and waffle with fruits was really good!
Mathilde was an exceptional server, and the food was also perfectly prepared. I highly recommend the Niçoise salad and steak frites. - Carlos
WARM WELCOME, EXCELLENT SERVICE, LOCATED IN A TOURIST LOCATION, IT S VERY GOOD.
Super nice place for a business dinner or a good time with friends. Excellent meals, beautiful chic French decor, the wine list could be more varied and focused on French wines. Good value for money.
Soooo disappointed. Unfortunately a large conference group invaded the restaurant/bar just after we arrived for drinks and they were so loud, my wife and I had to yell to each other across a small table. We explained the situation, he nodded in agreement then proceeded to identify a table thst was even worse. We ask about some unoccupied tables and were told they were reserved. This was 630pm, when we left at 840pm, that group of tables was still unoccupied. Really? That really ruined the dinner all by itself and was nit accommodating at all. Server spologized again. We wanted wine and they have a good wine list but only 3 red choices and 3 white choices...really subpar. Server agreed and apologized yet again. But we made do. Half a dozen oysters and minimal condiments - again, totally unexpected. Another apology. We had lamb and fish entrees, both cold...prepared nicely but stone cold. He didnt apologize because he was no where to be found. But he did apologize when he cleared the dishes. About 20 minutes later, he reappeared and asked if we wanted dessert...by that point, we need to escape asap. We were hotel guests and that service reflected really poorly on the Hotel DArmes. There was nothing remotely redeeming about 701.
Had a very good lunch here. Soup and burger. Killer french fries!
3 people 1 app 2 glasses wine 3 dinners ~ $400 w tip. Just seemed over priced. Basic steak house Food : 3/5
I lobes that place: fine cuisine, staff politeness, the environment was great however a bit noisy. I can only recommend you.
Beautiful vibe, great food, and our waitress Mathilde was amazing! We will def come back!
Cozy atmosphere, courteous staff, refined cuisine, reasonable prices. Service a little slow for a dinner. I would have really liked to taste dessert but I ran out of time. I had planned for 1 hour sitting but the kitchen took more than 30 minutes to bring out the days soup. Next time because it was so good!
Amazing food and atmosphere!
The place was great !!! The service was IMPECCABLE !!! Ayman was such an attentive and great server !! I highly recommend you to ask for him if you go there !!!!
Attended during the Taste of Montreal. Food and service were excellent.
After we sat down it took at least 10 min for waitress to ask what we wanted to drink and another long while to come back with our sparkling water( it was not busy ) we ordered onion soup as an appetizer. Kind of tasteless. They brought a bread basket four small slices of white bread that was yesterdays bread . Main meal I had leg of duck. 4 Sprussel sprouts cut in half . 1 set so overcooked and the other one ok . How is this even possible ? Some sort of potato so overcooked and hard could not eat . Duck overcooked some pieces super hard chewy . Sauce super sweet . Husband had a burger with bbq sauce on it and very well cooked ( asked for medium rare was told not possible ) French fries ok . The price for this tasteless meal is outrages . When the girl came to move our plates she asked how I liked it I said just ok she replied : well I m gonna be up all night thinking about it . Holy cow .. save your money Montreal has much better to offer
Delicious meal and great service! We went for the MTL à Table experience, which was delicious! The best French food I have ever eaten in Montreal (Ive lived here for 5 years). Highly recommend the b uf bourguignon and crème brûlée. Everyone working there was very pleasant, respectful and bilingual.
Very good restaurant, very well served. Starter main course or dessert main course at $32, it s worth the cost The staff is very pleasant and welcoming
A huge favorite for this restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing, every dish was flavorful and perfectly prepared. The service was simply impeccable, and a huge thank you to Melissa and Paul for their kindness and attention throughout the meal. They really made this experience special. If I could, I would give 10 stars without hesitation. An address not to be missed!
I would give 100 stars if I could! Melissa and Paul made an ordinary Friday lunch so so magical. Somehow Melissa noticed we were newly engaged without us even mentioning! They made us feel so incredibly special - making our whole trip to Montreal so wonderful. So incredibly priced for such 10 star food. My fiancé s steak was so tender and delicious. Also this was probably the best crème brûlée we ve ever had. Not to mention the gorgeous design of the restaurant. Immediately this place has a special place in our hearts!!
The chicken and waffles was fantastic! Melissa is the best server that I may have ever had.
Food was not good. Very disappointed. It is a tourist trap with tourist menu and tourist pricing. Too bad, we re, were local and we will not go back
Super bon service d Ayman!
Thank you Ayman for your excellent service!
Great Ambience and food.
Melissa serves us with a radiant smile, very pleasant.
Very good service, and the food is delicious!
Very beautiful decor, the meal was good but the service was not up to standard. We are given our plates without visual contact, without explaining the plates and wines (Montreal at the table event with 4 courses and food and wine pairings). It will be necessary to educate the servers, who are frankly disappointed.
Had the best time at 701! We were in Montreal for a girls trip and stumbled upon this gem for brunch. Our server, Melissa, made the experience 10x better. The drinks, food and atmosphere were impeccable. Truly had the best burger I ve ever eaten. Would recommend to anybody visiting Montreal.
Highly recommend!
We were a party of 8 and had dinner at Brasserie 701 last Sunday night. The plates were beautifully decorated and served on time, however, the food was cold.
Beautiful setting, followed by an amazing experience. This is a must try for breakfast and brunch, and I only say that because its when we decided to visit. The wife had Gaufruiti, which is a waffle plate, and she absolutely loved it. Myself, choosing the smoked salmon eggs benny can say I also enjoyed very much. Fresh ingredients, food made with real skill and service that was attentive and very polite. You can tell there is consistency.
Service and food are amazing. Highly recommended
Lovely restaurant with a beautiful interior and a sunny outdoor seating area. The staff were very patient with our large group who asked to move inside when it got too hot outside (fortunately it wasn t super busy). Fantastic oysters. Solid moles frites
One of the worst restaurants I have frequented for a long time, very long service, cold food, shameful to be very well placed with such beautiful decor, I do not suggest at all for the price there are much better 2/10
Tomas is the greatest bartender
Really disappointing as I came here earlier in the summer and had a great experience - but this repeat visit was terrible. Took 45 minutes for food to arrive and service wasn t great. The waitstaff were super friendly to some diners and cold to others?! Especially the girl at the entrance seating people. Very odd, I wouldn t return which is a shame as I loved it previously. It s also not cheap, which makes this even harder to swallow.
Saturday May 29th 6:30 PM We had a reservation, but we had to wait almost 30 minutes for our table. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We really had a great time. Our waiter Gavin was awesome. The food was extremely tasty, the charcuterie board and the beef flank steak were absolutely amazing. We loved it so much and our drinks were perfect. The only reason why I gave 4/5 is because we could only stay a maximum of 2 hours at our table, which is totally fair, but we were a little bit rushed into paying once we were done eating, even though we were still waiting for 2 more drinks. When we received our drinks, the bill came and we had to chug our drinks, pay and leave. I felt like they did not take into consideration the fact that we waited almost 30 minutes for our table and it took almost 1h to receive our appetizers and 20 to 30 minutes to receive our drinks. It is not the fastest service but overall it was a fantastic night. Thank you!
I came to this restaurant for a birthday lunch with my girlfriends, and unfortunately, it was very disappointing. One of my friends ordered steak and fries, but the steak was so tough it was nearly impossible to eat. To make matters worse, no one asked her how she d like it cooked, and it came out completely overdone. When we raised this issue with the waiter, rather than resolving it, he tried to argue with us about whether he d asked for her preference. His attitude was rude and dismissive, and at one point it felt like he tried to blame us for asking for the very well-done steak??? he even questioned us if we had tasted the steak, despite us already explaining how unsatisfactory it was. We then spoke to the manager, who was polite and apologized, even offering to remove the steak from the bill, which we appreciated. However, the overall experience was still frustrating. When the bill arrived, the waiter ignored my friend as she tried to speak to him, and without asking if we preferred separate checks or one, he simply presented a single bill for the group. This felt inattentive and dismissive. Additionally, I ordered a regular mimosa but was charged $30 for a champagne mimosa, which I never requested. It felt like an unfair charge on top of an already disappointing meal. Then they told me to come back to the restaurant for a refund. Overall I don t see myself returning after this experience that ruin my birthday lunch.
Dining here was very pleasurable. The food was very good once we got it. We started with the cheese platter which was almost a meal in itself. I ordered the filet , my husband ordered bouillabaisse. However when our meals came, my order was wrong. I got the steak frites which I did not order. Our server, who didnt write anything down. Said he thought I had ordered it. Nope. They took both meals back and redid my meal. The food when served was excellent. We had lots of people constantly asking if we needed anything so they were very attentive but very odd in that the course of our meal we had four different servers
Magnificent setting, absolutely impeccable service and the dishes are excellent.
Infested with rats. Dont go there.
Our waitress Melissa was amazing and very friendly! Will definitely be back and requesting her!
Went here with a group of girls for my friends Bach and Melissa was amazing! She was so sweet and fun, makes for a great experience
Attended brunch with a group of 9 ladies. The food was great but the service was even better. Melissa was very attentive, kind, and shared reccomendations for night life as we are from Boston. Wonderful experience overall !
Melissa was amazing!
Good experience. We had Melissa and she was great
Great experience with Melissa!
We went for brunch for my cousin s bachelorette and the service was EXCELLENT. Melissa was wonderful she was patient, accommodating, friendly, and informative. She made the experience that much better. Our food was delicious. I will definitely return to Brasserie 701 during my next trip to Montreal.
Melissa is the best! food was great and service was awesome
Everything was excellent - food, service and atmosphere
First of all, The pre-meal bread should be served before appetizer, we are not sure if this restaurant just changed the rule of fine dining restaurant. The restaurant looks like a fine dining restaurant, but the service is not like that at all . They need to train their new staff before they have enough capability to handle tables. We need to tell the our server , can we have some bread , and then we can get the bread . We need to tell the server we are done with appetizers and then they take everything from the table. We asked the server how long will our main take? , then they helped us fire the main. We told the server we need cutlery to eat and then they gave us the cutlery. We come here for eating not for teaching people how to work on their job. We were sitting by the window. We finished our appetizer at 7pm. We got the main after 40mins 7:40pm. We have 3 people, everyone order their own appetizer and their own main. We leave here with hungry.
A beautiful dining room. The service was polite and efficient. The food was very satisfying.
This is fine dining at its best and it is very reasonable. If you want the real experience then you have to dine here.
Asked for over medium eggs and got something that had raw egg white
Had 2 great breakfasts there.
Excellent restaurant
Ordered dinner to our room. Food was bland. French onion soup was like drinking water. Next morning we went with our 3 small children for breakfast. One hour after we ordered they came to tell us they lost the order and offered us some crossants. When we went to the front desk they referred us to the restaurant supervisor. The supervisor was not helpful and there was no accountability. I will never stay in this hotel or eat in this restaurant again.
Amazing staff! Kind and helpful. Def would recommend
The wait staff was friendly and welcoming, and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the rack of lamb
Great delicious food. A great French brasserie style decoration and delicious food
Can I just say I absolutely love it here. First of all Melissa was our waitress and she was so pleasant; literally so sweet and attentive. She made sure everything for us was to perfection. Secondly, this was THE BEST BRUNCH FOOD! I had the Lobster Benedict and it was so amazing. I can t sing their praises enough. If you re looking for food in Montréal run, don t walk, to Brasserie 701!
Much too expensive for what it is (brunch).
Melissa! You are amazing! Thanks so much for the shot! I had such a great time here, I had 3mimosas and the lobster egg Benedict, Delicious! 1st time here and 1st time in Montreal, great experience, highly recommend!
We were a party of 4 and had dinner at Brasserie 701 last Friday night before going to the Aura light show at Notre Dame Basilica across the street. We were greeted with friendly and attentive wait staff. Also food came out pretty quickly. The quality of the food exceeded our expectations with good portion and the price was very reasonable. I ordered moules frites and there were lots of mussels. The white wine sauce was flavorful. Everything was good and we enjoyed the dinner very much.
In this restaurant I ate one of the best ducks of my life, very kind and courteous staff, nice and nice environment. The price range is medium-high, but its worth it: taking a glass of wine, a main course and a shared dessert we spent CA$68 each. The restaurant serves many meat and fish dishes but there are some vegetarian options such as ratatouille (but not many)
Very nice atmosphere with authentic brasserie flair. The food was perfect, the service could be a little more attentive and better.
Brunch certified. Food, ambience, service? All 100%.
Nice place for breakfast in city center old Montreal. Ordered yogurt parfait and veg Benedict with egg white.
I came from Colombia to visit two of my friends and we had the absolute pleasure to be serviced by Melissa. The food was fantastic and her service was impeccable. I would recommend anyone looking for a cute spot with delicious food to come here!
Loveee Melissa , she really took good care of us, checked in on us at the right times, was fun and energetic and was overall the best experience and the food was great too
We went to brunch this Saturday, September 21 in the company of the excellent Mélissa. The steak and egg was tender and excellent, the pastry platter was fresh and well presented. My friends really enjoyed the classic eggs Benedict as well as the chicken & egg waffle. Mélissa offered a service beyond our expectations, very attentive and funny. From the start, she caught our vibe and matched it until the end. I strongly recommend! :)
Food was good, but the portion is small for what it costs. Got the veggie Benedict and they forgot to add the spinach until we asked for it. They only delivered it 15 mins later when we were almost done eating.
Everyone loved the food. I had the filet mignon and was very happy with it. The down side for is was how long it took. I think they maybe they didnt get it placed correctly because others around us got there for in a reasonable time. Also took a long time to get drinks.
Went in for brunch and inside was nice but outside of that I wouldnt have much good to say. My wife and I ordered coffee and our food, our drinks came right away but the food took about 40 minutes to come out. Ordered eggs Benedict and a simple 2 eggs any style and everything was overcooked and dry. We figured that because we were staying at the hotel that we were getting served last before the guests but it wasnt even that busy so I dont understand why it took so long. Maybe just a bad day for them, and I completely understand that but I wouldnt recommend going there for brunch. Plenty of other amazing places that wont disappoint.
My partner and I are lovers of Brasserie 701. Elegant and chic decoration. Their French cuisine is always a treat. The staff (all of them) are always polite, courteous, professional and outstanding. The brasserie has always been our favorite restaurant in Montreal and has become even more so since yesterday and our special meal. I would like to thank all the staff again for organizing this meal. Everything was perfect from A to Z. And I hope that many people will come and discover you to share your cuisine, your professionalism and good humor as well as your beautiful atmosphere. Well see each other again soon.
Very old building with a pristine inside. Service was amazing. 3 adults & 3 kids loved the food: eggs Benedict to yogurt parfait to continental platter! Vegetarian options: Avocado toast with salad & vegetarian eggs Benedict they have on the menu
It s a great atmosphere in the restaurant, but please make some effort on your food, we waited for 45 mins for this flank steak , and it turns out this cheap meat. Hello, no one s money should pay for this plate of cheap meat.
I dont think the chef and/or cooks have ever had bouillabaisse. Really disappointed to have paid for such a tasteless dish. Tasteless. No saffron, no fennel, no lobster as indicated on the menu. Laetitia s service was impeccable though
Great food, great customer service
Good one for Drinks with Friends!
This was my first time ever in Montreal, and in Canada! My friend recommended this restaurant, and I was absolutely impressed !!! Our server was Florence, and from the very beginning to the very end, she took such great care of me and my friend!!! She brought our food quickly, recommended me a red wine to have with my main course (it was perfect with my steak), and she made us feel so welcomed at this restaurant! Brasserie 701 is very lucky to have Florence on their team!!!
The service at this restaurant is terrible, and the food is awful! My husband and I had to wait for more than 40 minutes. They said they have some issues in the kitchen. When they finally brought the food, the waitress forgot to bring my husbands food, so I had to eat alone because my food was getting cold. The waitress barely apologized, and we had to get my husbands food to go. The bone marrow was literally just bones decorating the plate. Considering the price that we paid for our food, this restaurant has very bad quality.
Awesome brunch!!! Shoutout to Melissa for the top quality service <3
This place is dope. Our waiter John was fantastic. Attentive and knowledgeable, provided a super fun experience. Would absolutely go back!
Food was good make sure to ask for John he s a great server and really made our experience
I went to the Brasserie recently and was incredibly impressed by the talents of bartenders Shady and Felix. Shady is a master of the art of cocktails, always smiling and ready to recommend drinks that perfectly match your tastes. Felix, on the other hand, is equally talented, with an incredible sense of humor and attention to detail that makes every visit special. Together, they create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If youre looking for a place to have a great evening, this is it! They really impressed me! I recommend this restaurant mainly for these two servers.
What a lovely time spent at 701! A magnificent setting, a charming welcome, exquisite cuisine to speak of the delicate intention they had that day to celebrate the success of my grandson as well as my birthday! I wont forget that moment! 1000 thanks
Nice atmosphere and based on the architecture it looks as though it was formerly a bank. Would make a good night club venue. Food was so-so and very overpriced. Many of the items on the menu were sold out the night that I visited for dinner. Service was good and the wine selection was fairly extensive Repeat ? Not worth it
Maybe they should stick to serving brunch! Dinner menu consists of a very limited selection of French cuisine, served in small quantities at a glacial pace. And on a day of extreme temperatures the air conditioning was not working! This restaurant probably does well only because of its prime location. Still looking for the valet parking.
Vegetarian options: Very few veg options Food
Delicious brunch with lots of choices:) Cheerful and courteous servers:) Will definitely come again when visit Montreal next time. Food
Overpriced for the quality, there are much better options in the area
excellent breakfast
Disappointed with the brunch menu for groups, the eggs were cold and in general the dishes lacked seasoning.
Great, old country atmosphere and incredible service. The food was great and flavorful.
Service, timing, food and decor are all on point!
I loved my birthday dinner!! The atmosphere was incredible ! Felix and Shady made my birthday memorable. The service was impeccable.
Nice atmosphere and great service. Food was also good but not amazing- maybe 8 out of 10. Nice presentation. I would go again and try eating at the bar.
Absolutely stunning place. Great atmosphere. And very friendly staff! Especially John is amazing and very good at their job!
Such good brunch and $8 mimosas! Our server John was lovely :)
Thanks to Raphaël for an exceptional service, what a pleasure, delicious, looking forward to coming back, I recommend :)))
Excellent food, perfect service by Raphaël, definitely recommended and very nice place!
Food and atmosphere is amazing. We ate at the bar, the service by Camilo and Wandrill was extraordinary
Lovely seafood, mussels were spectacular!!! Cocktails were so lovely.
The beef steak was absolutely fantastic. The steak was cooked well and made my mouth feel fantastic.
Great experience with quality service. Interesting dishes rich in flavor
Worst eggs Benedict Ive ever eaten, seen, or heard of. The stuff of nightmares. The other person I was with was nearly sick, as was I. It was too terrible to describe. Fantastic service though, our servers and the bartenders were lovely and conversational. Cool atmosphere. Stay away if you have taste buds.
The worst eggs benny on the planet. Who puts cheese and mustard on an untoasted English muffin? Terrible deli ham. Hollandaise nightmare. Almost threw up; however, lovely staff.
Incredible service, very personable and professional
Thanks to my waitress, Laetitia! What a joy it was to be served by this sparkling woman. She took great care of me all evening. It was a real culinary experience (there are even rolls and whipped butter while waiting for our dishes), and what can we say about the atmosphere of the restaurant. She even recommended trendy places to visit during my stay in the Old Port. 10/10 thank you!!!
Great food. A little loud. Portions correct.
Gorgeous place, impeccable service, delicious food. Fully recommend.
I ordered the chicken and waffles. Probably the best I ve ever had. Amazing atmosphere. Definitely going again next time in Montreal.
It was a fine place to grab some breakfast. I had the eggs benedict and cappuccino. It was a pleasant breakfast in a setting youd expect of an upscale hotel restaurant
Great place, great location, great service and great food! Lovely spot for brunch and highly recommend :)
We were served by Laetitia and the service was impeccable. Super friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The oysters were fresh! I recommend!
The Escargot with Bone Marrow was the best thing my boyfriend and I ate during our entire Montréal trip. It was SO good. Pls get it. It s delicious. Service here was also spectacular :) Food
Nice place, good food and good service, limited but good menu, $$$ but its in old Montreal, complicated parking.
The hostess yelled at me when I asked about the rooftop seating area, even though there wasnt one. She could have just calmly explained that to me, but instead, she became very aggressive. Despite the good food, I had to wait for an hour for a burger, and when it finally arrived, I had to take it to go. I definitely wont be going back there.
Nice atmosphere, great food.
Breakfast was bland and disappointing
Absolutly world class service! Amazing food and drinks
I rarely give one star reviews because even if one thing is bad, there s usually something that was good, but not here. Where to start I ordered the daily soup - cream of asparagus and the duck confit - a dish that any good French bistro should be able to execute with their eyes closed. The soup was much too thick and the duck confit came with soft, gelatinous skin. Duck confit must be served with crispy skin - this is duck confit 101 so I flagged down a server (they never came to ask how everything was at any point of our lunch) and I sent it back so the kitchen could fix it. This is an easy fit - it simply requires it going back in the oven, skin side down until the fat renders and crisps up. Ten minutes later they return with a different, smaller confit duck leg that had the exact same soft, gelatinous skin. Again, I had to flag down a server to send it back. This time I said forget it, just bring me the same lamb gnocchi in cream sauce my date was eating. They returned in under two minutes with the dish which was very suspicious. It was clearly a dish that had been sitting and then was nuked in a microwave. Within two minutes the heavy cream split into a disgusting oily mess from being nuked. It was so visually unappetizing with giant puddles of split, oily cream i again flagged over a server and asked him if this is how the dish is normally served, knowing that it was indisputably bad. He said no and offered to get me another. At this point, I was really turned off and said forget it. The service was so poor that they never even asked us if we wanted coffee or dessert and at no point did they ever come ask if we wanted another drink or refill our water. Again we flagged down a server to ask for a coffee (they were all just standing behind the bar talking). The coffee came with a very overcooked brown shortbread cookie - another easy miss. At this point the server brought us two complimentary desserts - a lemon meringue tart that was sadly room temperature and too sweet and a raspberry financier which was just ok. They still charged us for my main course which was shocking. Overall, such a disappointing experience with some of the worst service I ve experienced in Montreal. With so many good French bistros in Montreal, no one should waste their time or money at this one.
My must go restaurant each time I visit Montreal!
Great food and our server Melissa was amazing! We will be back for sure!
This place was overall wonderful. We didn t make a reservation because we weren t sure when we would get hungry. But we were able to walk in and just get a spot. The food was high quality and delicious. The place was beautifully decorated as well. My only complaint has to do with the hostess who was slightly rude. We let her know we didn t have a reservation and she didn t respond. Clicked around on her tablet and just walked away to a table with menus. We weren t sure whether we should follow her. But aside from that this place was wonderful.
Excellent service de la pars de Wandrille! We will definitely be back. Food
Excellent service from wandrille!!!
Wandrille gave us excellent service and made our experience wonderful!
Very good service from Vandry, very charming and friendly. I recommend going to this restaurant, the food is excellent too!!! Even ask especially for him, a nugget! :)
I was the birthday girl at the time , really picky btw... but the environment the people and the food was so nice thanks to Vadery...
I d say pretty mediocre place with nice design. Food was very ordinary, could have used a bit more finesse and not serve dead lettuce in the burger. Server was okay. Overall just okay place but due to the fact is in good location seems to be rated much higher that it should be.
Place to consider in Old Montreal for weekend brunch. Generous plates, nothing too fancy, good atmosphere, nice decor. The service is okay, nothing more.
Food is tasty, service is great and can accommodate large groups.
Much too expensive. On the terrace with life on the neighboring buildings. Regular food
Disappointing experience. Nearly 30% of menu items were not available along with the sparkling rose. A nice and helpful waiter but sadly the steak was tough, the bouillabais unconvincing and the charcuterie board uninspired. We chose B701 for a special occasion but sadly it fell short.
Amazing chicken and waffle and an even more amazing service from Mélissa So friendly and almost reads our minds!
Had very good service by Melissa, she was fun & welcoming! Thank you Melissa for your good service! Will definitely come back!
Pros : great coffee and biscuit, service was great. Cons : Our ustensils and especially the water glass smelled like eggs it was impossible to drink water / the smoked salmon was not fresh my friend had to put it aside Food
Nothing to say honestly, 10/10 on the entire experience. We went there for my girlfriends bachelorette and everything was impeccable, the food was good, great atmosphere and we received exemplary service from Charles! I recommend this place. Location: Brasseire 701, Old Montreal Ambiance and Atmosphere: Brasseire 701 strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and contemporary elegance. The exposed brick walls, soft lighting, and vintage decor create an inviting ambiance. The buzz of the F1 weekend added an extra layer of excitement. Beverages: Our cappuccinos were a delightful start. The velvety foam and robust espresso set the tone for a memorable meal. A warm cup of coffee in hand, we were ready to explore the menu. Brunch: Two Eggs to Your Taste arrived promptly. The eggs were cooked to perfection runny yolks with a sprinkle of chives. Simple yet satisfying, they reminded us of home-cooked breakfasts. A classic choice for any brunch lover. The Chicken and Waffles stole the show! Crispy fried chicken atop fluffy waffles, drizzled with maple syrup and a hint of hot sauce. The sweet-savory combination danced on our taste buds. Generous portions and Instagram-worthy presentation made this dish a winner. Service: Our server deserves applause. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in our experience. When my wife casually mentioned it was my birthday, they surprised us with a delightful dessert a sweet gesture that left us smiling. Overall Impression: Brasseire 701 is a gem in Old Montreal. Whether you re a local or a visitor, it s a must-visit. The food, service, and ambiance create a harmonious symphony for your senses. We ll be back for more! Bon appétit!
This was my favorite during our trip to Montreal. Nice decor and atmosphere, complete with a balcony DJ playing low-key songs. The food was superb. Duck confit was the best I ve ever had. Service was attentive and helpful. Zero problems speaking English. I cannot recommend this place enough! Truly excellent dining experience.
Exquisite.
Super welcoming....
Thanks to Mathilde and Gavin for their wonderful service and kindness. Very beautiful setting and more than remarkable cuisine, I highly recommend.
The cappuccino was divine! Truly one of the best I ve had in Montreal. The eggs benedict with salmon were good (the potatoes in particular were very good). Very efficient, friendly and attentive service. The only downside is the windows which need a good cleaning because they are rather dirty, preventing you from fully enjoying the view, although pleasant.
Beautiful venue and excellent service! We got John and he was very friendly and helpful - helped me select something I d like from the menu and really made sure we had a good experience. Definitely recommend!
Delicious and great service.
Food was alright, steak and fries was good. BUT THE SERVICE?! NO. Service i received here doesn t match the restaurant itself. 1. Couldn t decide wanted to seat at high or low table, so I told the server I will let her know when my friend texts me back. She literally let me stand there for like 10mins. Eventually I suggested and served myself I will sit at the low table if my friend wants to switch then we can switch to the high table I was the one who was smiling at her all the time, this girl gave me 0 smile(suddenly I m the server ^ ^) 2. After we finished our appetizers, we waited main courses for 40mins. People who arrived later than us got their food and eating alr. And no one came over and explain or apologize 3. One of the servers came over and asked if my friend finished her food while SHE WAS EATINGAre you joking??!! She was literally chewing. I don t know what s the rule for the servers but as soon as I started chewing my last shrimp, server came over and took my plate I expect restaurant like this has better quality service, or we can just pay 90$pp somewhere else with better service. If you don t train your servers then cancel the tip options when the bill comes
We wanted to come here for brunch but we didnt make a reservation in advance so we ended up getting breakfast instead. I ordered the smoked salmon egg Benedict, which was actually offered for both breakfast and brunch. The egg Benedict was scrumptious! The potatoes were warm and crispy. The hollandaise was rich and silky. The eggs were poached perfectly. My boyfriend got scrambled eggs with sausages, which were also delicious. The portions were generous. For that day, this meal kept us properly fueled to explore Montreal for the whole day. For our next trip, we will come back to Brasserie 701 for brunch :)
Warm and welcoming restaurant that had tasty food. Will love to visit again the next time Im in Montreal. Merci!
The lunch specials are good. The escargot was the highlight. The quiche was underwhelming Food : 5/5 |
A beautiful restaurant, a bit chic but not stuffy. Good value for money. Very good cuisine.
Awesome ambiance and attention to detail is on point. Salmon tartare; delicious. The beets salad; exquisite.
I went for my wedding anniversary, it was wonderful, the meal, the service everything was perfect.
Never disappointed during my visits. We were there earlier for my sisters birthday, the service was impeccable, the food was delicious and, above all, consistent. Cozy atmosphere, Monday afternoon very quiet restaurant, very few people, no real wait between meals. I would always recommend it to those around me, especially since the quality-price ratio is balanced! Thanks to the bartender for the cocktails, thanks to the Chef and his team for the meals but above all thanks to Paul for the helpfulness, humor and joy he exuded even at the end of service!
Very impressed with Kennys service. Kind, smiling and helpful.
It was very good. I have never been so welcomed by a server like Kenny. The best
Excellent service, the food is not bad but nothing notable, its quite a forgettable culinary experience. Edit: I add a star for their openness to criticism
Excellent table, quality service. A special thank you to Gavin who was very attentive, professional and friendly to us throughout the meal. We highly recommend! (Signed the French and Gabrielle ;)
Great service. Melissa is a great server if I had to rate it 10/10 for the service. Could not ask for a better experience!
Went here today for brunch and had an absolute time! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was amazing and our server Melissa was the best! Would definitely come back again :)
Very slow service. Waited 15 min to get coffee, and about 45 min to get our food. The table wasnt set. Very terrible experience.
Worst experience, if you come to Montreal from Toronto first time and drive around 6 hrs, pls DON T choose this one for lunch, so long time waiting and overcooked steak. That s so disappointing.
I had a wonderful time in August 2022 at this place when I visited Montreal. I went in this restaurant again this year, things got a lot different. Waiting time is so long, sat at 1pm but got my food at 2pm. I recommended it to my friends but today I was embarrassed by the terrible service here. I asked about the steak for medium rare but it wasn t. Chef came in and seemed not familiar with the vocabulary here, just asked me more raw? Disappointed.
Amazing place for brunch or dinner! Love the Aesthetic inside! Bright and cozy. Food was delicious! We had the mussels and tuna salad. Service was friendly. Great little spot to dine!
Meh steak frite. Nothing special. Good enough.
