Le Café des Amis au pavillon du Lac-aux-Castors vous offre des repas complets ou des plats en format familial à partager, faits maison et créés en grande partie à base de produits locaux.
Kind of a hidden cafe, like i had to discover it on a whim just to realise it existed. But it was cool! Lots of seats, friendly staff and service, and a really, like really really, really great bagel to top it off
Food is expensive for what it should be, however it does provide a beautiful resting place if needed and the beautiful view on the lake is a plus also the have a wide range in the menu so it depends on opinion individuals that are vegetarians and vegans.
Fun place to be surrounded by nature! Lots of picnic tables to do BBQ and/or a picnic. They also have rowboat activities at a cost and various other door activities for rent. 🍖🧺
Great place to relax at Mont Royal. Nice staff, I like the interior style. The lockboxes are very thoughtful.
Most recommendable place in summer breakfast coffee and light meal brunch in weekend.
On what planet is this considered a club sandwich? No chips/crisps, no cheese, ham or any substance inside the sandwich other than some green leaves, tomato, Indian flavoured chicken slices and mayo. Overpriced is an understatement. Very disappointed
A cafe with a mesmerising view. You can sip on the coffee and spend some idle time enjoying the beauty of nature. Coffee is good. They don’t have an elaborate menu but what they have on it is good stuff. Price is reasonable too.
This restaurant has a real nice view, the service they gave was slow and it seemed that they did not care much about what we needed. The food was good and te smoothie I ordered was nice as well. I would go here just because the view is amazing and hoping that the staff would be better next time i go
Excellent hot chocolate, worth the price!
Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible et spacieux et toilette adaptée disponible Service
A well-deserved little break, near Beaver Lake, and after a tough climb to Mont Royal Fast food, snacks and drinks
Super nice and the smoked salmon bagel was excellent!
A completely regressive chai latte with marshmallows in it. Café run by young volunteers for an association. A good end to my getaway to Quebec!
The view is beautiful and the service is super good.
I ordered a coffee, but they also serve food which looks delicious. The establishment is very pleasant and offers a magnificent view of the lake. It must be amazing when its snowy.
The only reason why i put 1 star for food is because, they are always out of anything on the menu and, most of time, kitchen not open which is sad
Kafnyak, why don t you work until the evening?? You only work until 6. Its unfortunate
I ordered a chai latte and asked the barista to add more syrup. He was extremely rude, looked at me with a rude expression and poured the syrup until I said it ennnnough. He almost poured the entire syrup and even when I said thank you he didnt reply by saying your welcome back but continued with his rude looks. Very disrespectful, unprofessional and rude. I have full right to ask for anything for my order as I paid it by my own money, and I have full right to treated with respect, kindness and professionalism.
For being from another country (Mexico), the food is very good, the staffs attention is excellent!!!
Service too long for a frozen meal, terrible meal to avoid, prices too expensive for frozen.
Nice place to eat because of the view but the meals offered are not exceptional, but correct.
The portions are light but its good. The setting is magnificent
Very good drinks although a little expensive. Friendly staff.
Average price, salad wrap good.
TERRIBLE. Waited 20 minutes for an iced coffee. And a couple of bottle drinks. Personel works at a very slow pace and do not seem to care about the people they are serving. Save your money and time.
Nice spot for a beer and a salmon wrap while enjoying nature.
Very slow service. 20 minutes for 2 drinks, limonade and latte.
There are obviously a lot of them in the kitchen but not at all, at all organized! For baggel or sandwich type meals, wait more than 40 minutes. Thats a lot...
Excellent espresso ;-)
Long service, expensive for the products
This restaurant is not for profit but serves to preserve the park. It was a great experience even if given the crowds we waited a little long. But it was worth it. I recommend the vegan brownie.
They made us wait more than an hour for two Bagels and they were also bad. The place is beautiful, in front of the lake, but the service is the worst I have experienced in a long time. Surreal!!
a magnificent view, fast service, I always enjoy passing there on my way to Mount Royal!
Food was fantastic (had the bagel BLT), staff were super friendly, atmosphere delightful.
It took them forever to prepare food when its precooked, as I was told, so you cant customize it. They werent shorthanded; plenty of staff just walking around idle. They also lacked in sanitizing; there were flies in the pastry case, and the staff just ignored them... ick.
Very nice to eat looking at the park. Unfortunately there are few employees and some people do not help with cleaning. So be prepared to have to remove trays left on tables if there is no space. The bathroom is also not an example of cleanliness. The food is ok and the staff are very polite.
Set in lovely park
Food is so so good!!
Cafe in good location, but service not good. I ordered a simple milkshake, which took 30 minutes to prepare.
Superb place. I recommend the cortado which is truly exceptional.
The park is magnificent. And this place is perfect for eating if we dont have anything planned
Vegetarian options: Un très bon sandwich végétarien! Food
Worst ice latte of my life, the girl who makes the coffee doesnt even know how a coffee machine works! She takes her time too even if there is a line of 30 people
If you going to stick around the area its great.
Horrible coffee and service
The maple and walnut milkshake is really delicious And the Mont Royal bagel is just as delicious
Magnificent view of the lake with attentive personnel at the café
Food is good, nothing fancy. But they wont warm up a cold sandwich for you; you have to go downstairs and use a 30 year old microwave! Service is lacking; youngsters who dont give much attention to customers. Food
Lovely, great service both in summer and winter
Excellent place Excellent attention
Staff seems working without willingness to serve. They dont even say hello to the customers.
Best hot chocolate of my entire trip to Montreal! The chicken sandwich was very good. The meal is served quickly and the staff is very kind and smiling. The view is beautiful !
- Ski and skates location service - Has a cafeteria on the second floor that has a view on the lake. - Calm dining spot - Bathroom - Has small lockers Parking: Paid parking Wheelchair accessibility: Dont
good
Arrived at the top? Heavenly place to eat....
The ideal place to enjoy the mountains in winter!
Magnificent building, magnificent views in an enchanting site. But my god, the restaurant is a big joke. 25 minutes of waiting for 2 miserable sandwiches, one of which was served to us charred (the goat cheese with honey). The kitchen team is completely disorganized and doesnt seem to really know what to do, so were going to be chatting here and there to pass the time... TAKE YOUR LUNCH WITH YOU! Do you want to keep good memories of this place? Bring your lunch! In terms of cleanliness, its really not that either. Very dirty toilets, table in the dining room in the same condition.
Slow and expensive
Excellent views from the terrace of the cafeteria, the service is a little slow but they are very friendly, it is worth waiting and enjoying the beauty of Mont Royal. We went in winter and it has a nice view of the skating rink :)
I was looking forward to trying this place and really wanted to like it since I m on the mountain almost every day and was hoping to find a place to bring my friends. Sadly, I was profoundly disappointed. It was worst restaurant meal I ve ever had. It was in edible and that s saying a lot considering I like just about everything. It was a vegan sandwich that was described as having roasted vegetables that were ice cold. The bun was overly bready, dry and cold. It was slathered with some kind of mustard sauce that was called vegan mayonnaise. Absolutely horrible. With a coffee and a small bowl of soup this cost $30 !!!!! First, they tried to grill it for me, which was only slightly warmed on the very outside - definitely not grilled at all. I asked them to change it and they said no we don t do that - such an unfortunate experience.
Great hot chocolates, less sugar more cacao. The staff is fast and efficient. The bathrooms are clean and are equipped with a change table.
Delighted to be able to eat there and warm up after a long walk in the park in the middle of winter.
The line is so long
Food
0 stars
I can understand that you lack workers but waiting 30 minutes to be served your coffee... You should review your organization.
The hot dog is the flavor of parc aux castors. Delicious In winter there are no hotdogs....I felt disappointed with the menu that didnt offer variety. If you want to eat some protein, forget it!!
The best hot chocolate in Montreal! And the team is super nice. The lunch dishes are good, the view is great. Top before going skating just below :-)
You can rent everything here in regards to winter sports!
Great place! I recommend for a small meal or hot chocolate during a stroll in the surrounding area! A real plus for the veggie options!
Such a good and cozy ambiance!!! The view is one of the best in mtl and I definetly recommend coming to warm up with hot chocolate or coffee :)
A great little moment of relaxation before the climb to the belvedere. Nice atmosphere and adorable server. We chat a little and boom, he offers me a muffin Magnificent panorama under the snow... In short, a great place
Food options are limited. Sandwiches, soups and pastries are good. The ambiance is perfect specially during winter, a bit chaotic with all the families and kids, but thats a family place so do not expect a quiet place. Enough drink options including beer. Parking available ($14/day) Kid-friendliness: Family place
A little warmth in a frozen Mount Royal
I find the donut and the bottle of water a little expensive for the quality, however the staff was very cordial.
The hot chocolate here is very delicious!
A nice place to have a bite or a drink when in Beaver Lake. Its usual that you have to do a line to wait for it, but its nice that we can have access to it while at the mountain
Beautiful view and fabulous hot chocolate.
I went there last Saturday with the Autism House group
Just awful.
Quaint cafe, polite staff, and amazing coffee (their iced drinks in particular are amazing). This place is definitely worth a stop, just make sure to enter via the second floor. Dietary restrictions: The coffee beverages often will have milk in them.
It looks much nicer in the photo, the place is really very simple now in the post-pandemic summer, it is quiet, the food is delicious and for a reasonable price.
The bagels are not very good. Its relatively expensive.
Excellent vegan sandwich and excellent iced latte.
I tried the sandwich, hot dog, tea, treats, as well as milk shake here. All are really good and high quality. Tea flavors are great and would suggest to try tea here with sandwich. We also ordered the kombucha, it was great indeed
The location and the view of the restaurant is amazing. You have limited options to choose, just some sandwiches, a salad, and some cakes. The staffs are nice
Grateful that theres a café on site, and the food was okay. But theyre SLOW. Half-hour start to finish (1) in line to order, then (2) waiting for the food. This was just light food (hotdogs, etc.). Like slow motion, so inefficient, bad use of my time. Family was unhappy overall because of inefficient slowness.
Had to wait 30minutes for 4 cold hotdogs.
Nice place,nice guys,slow service,few items.
Good and fast service. The carrot cake was delicious and latte was good.
Wonderful setting overlooking the lake, but service is slow and tables arent cleaned as often as they could be.
Terrible service but great spot so lots of potential
Came for a much needed lunch after a lot of walking around the mountain but the facility is badly organized with no obvious directions on where to queue/line up, as a result there were some 30 people milling about and no way of knowing who was ordering food, who has already ordered or who was just standing around. Plus there was only one person on register taking orders. We didnt actually get to eat here so cannot comment on the food but if I could make one urgent suggestion to the people running this place, you need to put a lane in (like you see in other cafes and fast food restaurants) and signage directing people where the line starts.
Great location overlooking the park, but the food and coffee drinks were sub par.
Nice nice place but not much to eat....
Montreal Montreal, poor and tender Montreal, the ghost town... Beaver Lake Park full of people, no way to buy refreshments. When are you going to put the word service to citizens and tourists at the center of your priorities? Do you no longer have employees because there is a labor shortage or because the union is too powerful? Have you ever heard of the concept of vending machines? Geezzz
Not much choices. No cone ice cream! Kitchen closed very early (5 pm was closed). However very beautiful & peaceful place. Enjoyed the environment a lot.
Friendly place. Quite a choice in the window. Good Latte.
Food is not fresh! Overpriced. Coffee is watery
Do not take a chicken sandwich, invisible topping!
Excessively slow service for a single coffee, which was served without sugar and without a spoon. It was impossible to talk to a waiter to ask for it. On top of that they will want a tip
Great view
Nice view of the park. Had a vegan brownie and it was really good. The staff were friendly and spoke English. Not much seating outside but other than that it was great. Dietary restrictions: They had vegan and vegetarian options.
Menu is pretty big and staff are pretty nice. Wait times are worse, I waited 14 minutes for a single coffee with only one other person in line. I feel bad complaining since everywhere is short staffed, but I ve worked kitchens before and that doesn t seem right. Prices are also pretty high, but not surprising since it s a touristy area.
Very good BLt bagels, I recommend! Fast and pleasant service.
the food is very good and varied, the staff is attentive and very friendly. an experience to live!
The service is a catastrophy, they are completely overwhelmed, even with preparing and serving the smallest orders like three coffees
Nice place but service is a bit slow. Not for one who is in a hurry.
Lots of wasps
The food was very tasty, the home-made lemonade was great. It was just a long wait before it was ours.
Beautiful. In every season. The café are is upstairs, with a large deck (covid had resulted in a reconfig, and it is not yet back to normal. The cafe has quite a selection, but it is snacks/light fare. The good news is they do offer beer and cider. The cafe is located next to one of the two (paid) parking lots.
For a small snack.. good service despite the lack of staff..
Terrible, no more words
1 hour wait for 2 coffees. Help.
Medium and very long reception
Refusal of service under the pretext of preparing the evening meal... At 2:30 p.m.!!! Only the cakes remained which were still good. Very noisy place but nice landscape Vegetarian options: Vege hot dog
The line was long, but the hot dogs were delicious and the view was really nice.
Beautiful view and good service, but a bit understaffed.
Simple food, high prices.
A wonderful place with incredible views, the cafe and place are very nice, there are bathrooms, in autumn the foothills of Montroyal are beautiful, a place to have a good picnic, put it on your list of places to visit, you have to pay for parking.
35 min wait for a takeaway coffee which is really not good!! There is really very poor management of the friends café.
After a good walk on the mountain we need a comforting snack, unfortunately the service is so slow that it spoils all the pleasure especially when we wait 40 minutes for a sandwich, yes 40 min you wait!!
The guys at the counter was super helpful. Had a little chat with him about old montreal while ordering. Definitely a spot to have coffee.
Pretty good just the food a little too expensive
Very useful as a stop in the park
Their chocolate is real, be careful those with a sweet tooth who wants to take a whole cup, its real chocolate
Options were very slim in the afternoon. Chai latte was really good but not worth the half an hour wait Parking: Paid Parking
Service is quiet quick and nice. I ordered two hot chocolatew, it was okay. The situation is great, next to the lake.
They go out of their way to feed people even with the most uncommon allergies/ dietary restrictions. The portions are big and worth it ! Always pretty to look at the lake. Vegetarian and vegan options ! ( The chef is a vegetarian herself I heard.)
Beautiful place, food is quite expensive and they didnt have half the options available when we went. The service was slow and there was a line up so it took forever to order.
