Very good service, the owner couple are welcoming in a good atmosphere. The fragrant and fresh tea, I also tried Ash reshteh, the traditional Persian soup; with very delicious fresh ingredients!! I will definitely go back!! Don t hesitate to go and try it yourself! Thanks to their manager!

An exceptional Iranian café in Montreal, Café Toranj, which invited me on a real trip to Iran. As soon as I entered, the warm welcome from the staff, the friendly atmosphere and the traditional Iranian music created a unique atmosphere. Every bite of the dishes, especially the flavorful khoresh (stews), transported me to the four corners of Iran with authentic and unforgettable flavors. The management is excellent and has improved the service, making it much better than before. A culinary experience, a cultural journey not to be missed!

I had a terrible and disgusting experience in this cafe restaurant.. since I am Persian myself, I know our cuisine very well.. I had ordered a plate of Ghorme Sabzi, when serving it I found a lamb shank not well cooked and stale, (separately cooked for. A few days and not fresh) on the plate, I know the Ghorme-Sabzi recipe very well.. the meat must be beef or lamb stew well cooked and mixed in the meal, it seemed that the stew of the meal was finished and they added a beef shank Just to preserve the appearance of the meal without notifying the customer that they changed the recipe, in addition there were two different and not compatible beans, when I asked the waitress questions she told me that she was new there and she knows nothing, despite the fact that the chef came to the explanations they did not give me a clear answer, in short I will never go back there, and I strongly advise customers to try eating Persian meals elsewhere except in this café-restaurant if you would like this cuisine and if you would like to know the real flavor of Iranian cuisine and quality food is your priority.. we do not sell at any price. Never accept an offer of water in a copper pitcher, it tastes like metal

The new management of the Sherbrooke branch, Mr. Taha and Ms. Hasna, are excellent. Everything was really perfect, from the food, the cleanliness of the environment, and the good attitude.... I can also confidently say that their most delicious dish is ganbarpelo. Good luck guys

Really lovely atmosphere and the food is very good. The only downside is that it is quite expensive compared to cafes around but its worth a try if you live around and want to try something different!

Iranian food, Farsi culture. The food was generous and tasty. The quality and selection of tea is outstanding. Service is so very friendly. The atmosphere is eclectic and funky. The food is Iranian, (so dont expect egg rolls or hamburgers) and may seem unfamiliar to many, but the pride of the service and yearning to share their culture makes for a very soft landing as you stretch your horizons. The food is not cheap, but is all high quality and certainly of fair value all things considered.

I had a very bad experience in this restaurant. Food was not warm and fresh and the portion was small for this amount of money, specially rice! But, the worst part was the service! Personnel were talking a lot together instead of serving people! We had Italian guests with ourselves and we were embarrassed because of the service! Hope management takes this into consideration and train waitresses before giving them responsibility. Thank you.

Went with my girlfriend, we both liked the food. large portions. Staff were friendly. Would recommend. It cost around $45 for us to have a full meal with coffee.

They do not have aproper attitude at all.

Lunch: hard to chew bacon, strange dry yellow cheese, no salt and pepper put on the table (the waitress was staying in the kitchen, so I waited, some time, I had to get her attention) expensive for 20 $ (no slice of bread included) boiled potato, uncut apple in a bowl. They just speak to me in English. The positive point is that the coffee is very good. Picturesque and friendly decor not made for lunch (disappointed)

The location requires an update period. Even though there are armchairs, Valérie either cleans them or replaces them. The other could be clarified. Years ago many flavors suggest in the air. Despite all this, Toramj remains a beautiful, authentic little café. The food is always delicious and very well presented. Its the little touches that make Alexis like the pink praetorian head in a glass cup for green tea. The people who serve are friendly and very good.

Unique spot, incredible food, the Persian omelette was like no egg dish Ive ever had before. Very welcoming, cozy, neighborhood, artsy vibe. Staff had the right balance of serving you and leaving you be. Books abound if you like reading with your meal. Brunch served til 4pm every day. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: Veggie options are clearly indicated on the menu.

I would ve given zero stars if I could. I ordered a Bandari and an Ash Reshteh and the photo is what I received. No Bandari whatsoever, Ash reshteh in a USED DISH ans freezing cold Freezing Cold it was too much work for them to warm it up. Its embarrassing and its not the first time i have had a bad experience with this place. Recommend you to stay far from their business.

We recently visited Toranj Cafe. After approximately 25 minutes, our order was taken, despite there being no other customers present. Following the waiteresss recommendation, we ordered black tea and pistachio cake. A few minutes later, the waiteress returned to inform us that the pistachio cake was not yet available. Consequently, upon the waiters further recommendation, we opted for the Kadifa cake(I am not sure about the name). The cake was not fresh and appeared to have been stored in the refrigerator for several days. To our surprise, the tea was of the tea bag. I am certain that this will be my last visit to this cafe.

Great Persian style international cafe

like others have mentioned the service is really not good, the worker was not rude at all just very inattentive (we sat outside). We ordered a latte and tea and only the latte came awhile after the food (also extremely tasteless and watery pistachio chai). I cancelled the tea since it seemed like she forgot, also had to go ask for water. But otherwise the terrace was a nice space, and the food made it worth it for me, everything had great flavor! Especially the spicy sausage dish (though not spicy) and small sholeh zard. The bread wasn t my favorite. We got the brunch Nashtaei 2 (they were out of potato pudding so swapped sausage) Overall I was satisfied but probably wouldn t be back again

I had dinner with two friends last night and we ordered the vegetarian plate and the protein plate, with a pot of chai masala tea. We were able to get an outdoor table. Excellent food and friendly service! Everything was hot and fresh, with beautiful presentation and generous portions. Ive visited several times and its always been a good experience. Thank you!

The quality of customer service was lacking. We retrieved the menu from the counter, made our selections, and then returned to place our order. However, despite waiting, no waiter approached our table to take our order. Despite this, the food and drinks, including the smoothies and lattes, were enjoyable but the cake was not fresh, I think it was made a day before. I do not recommend this place at all.

I love this place, we went with my boyfriend to have a different brunch experience, and it was really cool. I had never tried Persian cuisine, but I was always curious. There s a brunch with caviar, that s it . The atmosphere, the cuisine and the music made this place a very good memory for someone visiting it. Recommended 100/10, different and quite an experience.

This is a hidden gem. They have great pricing. Great! Fresh food and juices. Breakfast and fresh squeezed juice Persian style. Amazing! Im definitely going back again and again if you havent tried a must go. Almost forgot their breakfast is really good and affordable.

Great food and portions, but the floor staff is absolutely terrible. Bringing water to customers is pretty basic, yet I find myself leaving my table way to often to go ask at the cash. You have to clear your own table, otherwise dishes pile up. And forget about mid-food service! Staff will leave customers after dropping off the plates to take a chit-chat smoke break together. Perhaps a portion of tips should go to customers? Very unserious.

Worst faloodeh and shake I have ever had, faloodeh pieces were frozen which is not supposed to be ! As if you were eating ice pieces. Pistachio shake tasted really bad. Low quality and expensive,really expensive according to the the thing they bring you as faloodeh

The decor is magnificent and when you enter, you immediately smell the spices. We shared breakfast and lunch. The food is very colorful, unfortunately reheat in the microwave. Still, it was good. For the service, everything is written in French but the employee doesnt try at all to speak to you in French which is a little disappointing. The coffee is delicious. Vegetarian options: Lots of legume options

I went to Toranj with my Persian friends. It is one of the best Persian places in Montreal. They have some of the most famous Iranian dishes but it is a bit pricey for some people and some choices. My friends ordered the traditional soup. I ordered saffron rice topped with cranberries, some almonds, and small chunks of meat (they were a few) with a very small bowl that has yoghurt and cucumber. I would prefer if the yoghurt salad was a bit bigger so I can enjoy the dish more as I do not like to eat dry rice without sauce or salad. The rose-saffron drink was nice and I was so nostalgic while drinking it. The decorations are so authentic and traditional. You can find some Persian products that you can buy. The waiter was nice and responsive. The washroom is a bit small but clean generally. They have good sweets (saffron cake especially) and other hot and cold drinks. I recommend trying this place and enjoy the delicious Persian food

Good food and good atmosphere!

I have never had Persian food before and Im also picky, so take my review with a grain of salt. I did like the food, it was amazing portions, very fresh and tasted good. I ordered a soup (Ash Reshteh) which wasnt my favorite. I think it was the dill. I also had do piazeh (the potatoes). Those were pretty good. Kind of reminded me in texture of potato salad, but a different taste. I also had gheimeh nesar (saffron rice with beef). This was my favorite of all the dishes. It has a really unique flavor with the chopped berries, pistachios, spices and everything. And the last dish I had was gham-bar polo shirazi which is like meatballs and rice with nuts and a lot of raisins. Its good but very sweet. I didnt expect that. It was my second favorite. It also came with a good portion of fluffy bread which i think was supposed to go with the soup. It also came with (i think) sour cream for the main dishes and a cup of cherry tomatoes, olives and pickles. I dont like sour cream or anything pickled so i cant speak for that, but my husband liked it. All in all, i think it you like Persian food youd like it a lot. I liked it ok. I did agree with the person who said its better with salt. Edit: I had some of the leftovers the next day and I liked it even more. Its hard to describe because the flavor combinations are so new to me. I will definitely order it again. Its a very satisfying and yummy meal. P.s. I went back and I ordered a similar rice dish to Gheimeh Nesar called Morasa polo. Its got chicken instead of beef. I LOVED it! I wish ordered more Do piazeh. Everything was just as good and I actually tried the white sauce that I thought was sour cream. Its not sour cream. LOL I dont know what its called but its very creamy and mild, not sour or tangy or garlicky. It was really nice and unique. Highly recommend ++++

After that, I decided to change my place. She came to tell me that there were people coming who needed this place I will not go back again

The quality of the food was delicious and the decor of the cafe was attractive. Unfortunately, the behavior of the cafe staff is not good with Muslim women, especially with Iranian Muslim women!

That was our first time there....and it was an amazing experience. The food is delicious, our waiter Kian gave us an excellent service. We are definitely coming back.

We went here yesterday for brunch and I have to say the service could not be any worst. The 2 male servers working there, were completely arrogant and completely uninterested in costumers. At some point both of them were outside chatting each other up. We did not get the tea that was included with our breakfast and at some point even needed to get up to get their attention. The food is not great either, there is way too much tumeric and EVERYTHING.

We were four friends getting together for a long overdue brunch. The food was delicious in that way where you can be totally happy with your menu choice but you still kind of wish you could have what your friends ordered too. One friend got there late and consequently ordered long after our - and other - tables had put in their requests. The server correctly predicted that our friends meal would arrive long after we would receive ours so he offered the opportunity to change the order to something less time-consuming to make. I thought that was a very thoughtful thing to do, so props to the staff for their proactive offer. We all had a great time, chatting and noshing as friends do. I had and totally recommend the Nashtaei #3 - a sausage & tomato stew served with yummy saffron-coloured potatoes, eggs, pickles, and other yums. The Melrose platter across the table from me looked pretty amazing too. Maybe Ill try that dish next.

We made a side quest stop at this beautifully decorated, cozy Persian cafe where we sampled their delectable saffron cake, Almond cookie and delicious coffees. There was even someone playing the Santur live which we thought was incredible and really enhanced the overall vibe. We will return as we saw many other items on the menu that seemed very interesting!

Yet another Iranian cafe/restaurant that falls short. Not only do they lack anything exceptional, but they also overcharge for simple items, capitalizing on the desire to savor Iranian cuisine. I ve tried both dining in and taking out, and the experience was underwhelming. When I attempted to linger for a coffee, I was informed I could only stay for an hour, citing it being Thursday night. The disparate treatment of Iranians versus foreigners is disheartening and frustrating. Save your money; there are undoubtedly better options available. If you re set on experiencing Iranian flavors, prepare to be let down.

I can t believe I only just discovered this gem such a beautiful warm place to have coffee & cake or a meal with friends. The Iranian coffee was excellent (and I am picky about my coffee) and the toranj tea and saffron cake were exquisite. The service was a bit hit or miss the gentleman was very helpful and welcoming but the woman was apathetic. Great vibes and excellent food, we had such a memorable time, can t wait to come back!!

At café toranj, you will be served incredible food on a beautiful ornate plate. After which, you will be delighted by the matching beautiful ornate tiles found in the bathroom. The ceramic synergy that this café offers calms the soul and simultaneously ignites passion within oneself to raise ones standards. This café has opened my mind and my god how closed its been. Upon entering restaurants from this day forward, the thought will haunt me: Do the plates match the tiles?

One of my friends recommends this place for me for tea. I got surprised because I found out they serve food as well. I tried the same dish, but once with chicken and the other one was beef. Both taste good and are well marinated. It lacks salt for my taste, so I asked for salt, and it turned out perfect! Worth the visit!

worst service of my life. The waitress was rude and slow, refuse to replace an item we didnt like even tho we offered to pay for it. The cafe was also extremely dirty, all the food had 0 flavour, water and knifes were not given. would not recommend wasting ur money here.

This was the worst restaurant I ve ever been to. The service was extremely slow, and the waitress was incredibly rude to us. We asked for an ice coffee. She gave us a watered down lukewarm Americano. When we asked to exchange it, she argued with us. The food wasn t edible at all. Everything was lacking spices and seasonings. Everything was room temperature and the bread was stale. It looked like it had been left out for one week. They didn t provide us any water, napkins or knives. And on top of it all the place was extremely dirty. There was dust and crumbs everywhere on the tables and on the windowsills, the tables were sticky, and there was hair in my food. 0/10. I wouldn t recommend this to anyone it s a waste of money.

We arrived at a time when the place was packed! Our entire family was hungry and tired. The nice lady with silver hair highlights creatively told us to take a seat on the sofa and order our food, while some tables become free. The food here looks very elegant. Nice traditional plates. Very cozy ambiance. They transformed us from a tired and hungry bunch into a happy and satisfied family. Hospitality business is about creating memories for people, and thats what Cafe Toranje proved to be good at. I met the owner Mr. Alirza. Lovely gentleman. Thanks Make it a mission to discover all their plates, one at a time.

Apart from the coffee, the rest is to be desired: omlette prepared the day before with canned tomatoes, old stale bread reheated in the microwave, plus we are poorly seated, poorly arranged furniture, low armchairs for a table that is too high. the waitress did her best to cover it all up. Its no longer good food from the Zéphyr café which was in the same place

The waiters did not behave politely and friendly. The rice was raw. Fesenjoon had black burned pieces and although we mentioned that to waiters, we recieved no response. Albaloo polo was something completely different from the main receipe.

The worst staff that I have ever seen in my life. Waiter was so rude who does not follow any principles. Bringing a Jug of water was my first request which was not obviated until I was about to leave.

I love the morasa polo dish and the Persian tea and cakes they offer.

Very nice place, very good ice cream, but service only in English (and employees who obviously dont understand French well), which was very awkward. I hope to be served in French and not forced to order in English to make myself understood next time.

Good Iranian place to play backgammon and eat Iranian Ash, and other dishes

I recently visited Cafe Toranj and was impressed by the wonderful atmosphere. The menu offered a good variety of food options, and I was particularly taken aback by the extensive tea selection, which came in themed teapots. Its a great spot for a romantic or atmospheric visit. Highly recommended!

Finally decided to gove café Toranj a try. We were nicely greeted, and the waiter took the time to answer our questions on the menu. They use traditional plates and platers which is nice and it gives a nice ambiance. Portions were large, and the food was great. Definitely recommend the Nashtaei hot. Might need to try the tea next time.

I return to this place because the concept, the place, the presentation of the dishes and drinks is very careful and the decoration of the room is cozy, the atmosphere is very pleasant. However every time Ive gone the customer service is very very bad. Careless, you have to look for them to bring you a menu, to take the order, they take time to go clean the table, etc. If we consider the total cost of the bill, it deserves good customer service.

I usually refrain from writing negative reviews based on a single experience, but unfortunately, my three visits to this cafe-restaurant over the past two years have left me dissatisfied. Consequently, I have decided not to return. During my first visit (autumn 2021), I ordered the traditional Persian Côtelette, which had an unpleasant taste and an odd smell. It was far from being authentic and I couldnt take a second bite. My friends who also tasted it shared the same sentiment. On my second visit (last summer), I brought my parents for Paloodeh, a refreshing Persian dessert. Despite requiring no preparation time, it took over an hour to be served, and when it finally arrived, it was completely frozen, making it impossible to eat. Today, during my most recent visit for brunch with friends, our dishes arrived at different times, causing some of us to finish while others were just receiving their meals. Throughout our time there, the staff did not check on us or offer assistance. Even requesting the bill required a long wait, as the employees seemed preoccupied with their phones or chatting amongst themselves. The overall lack of friendliness and attentiveness was noticeable. Lastly, the washrooms liquid soap was nearly empty and diluted with water. It is disheartening that such a basic necessity was not provided adequately. I believe it is crucial for businesses to meet minimum standards, even in unforeseen circumstances. By sharing my experiences, I hope both the management and prospective customers can benefit.

I love this place . Mostly their breakfast. Its the only place i walk out full and happy for breakfast. The service can be slow sometimes. And they need to put the A/C on in the summer

Excellent Iranian cuisine!

It was a first for us! The Iranian food was excellent! The cafe is large but was full on a Saturday. They also have a terrasse (street view) Servers were super busy and not that attentive toward us. We had to ask to be served. We might go back.

Came here for brunch on a slow Saturday morning. The service was very slow, server was not attentive nor present. They never checked to see if we needed anything. We waited 25 minutes just for the drinks and an additional 30 minutes for egg sandwich .. we had to leave because the service was awful.

Believe its a popular place for Persian and mideastern food lovers. The fake we had was scented and not too sweet like many others in town. The hint was a surprise. Cant wait to try more!

One of the best Iranian cafes.

I m torn. We went twice and both times we got no service at all. Like at all. They forgot to bring tea and things and I had to go inside and get them myself. On the other hand the vegetarian platter from day 1 was really delicious with strong and unique flavors. The protein platter from our day 2 wasn t as exciting flavor wise. So I m curious about the food but the service is completely out of control. Maybe it was just bad luck both times?

The food was amazing. We ordered the assiette toranj with a side of rice for my husband and me and was more than enough . The lemonade with safron was delicious. My only observation is that they do not have high chairs for babies. We will come back

This would be #1 restaurant in montreal if they would change the staff. Oh how desperately they need to teach their staff how to serve, smile, talk, clean up, take orders, etc. some of them are nothing but a decoration.

I loved the atmosphere, the staff are very nice and friendly. The menue is different from other Persian restaurants in the town which makes is unique and helps you to have an authentique Persian food experience. It gets even better during the summer with the outdoor dining space.

The latte was made perfectly. I got a kadaif cake, was tasty but not something special. The service was very good. Some items are maybe a bit overpriced, but overall its lovely! Vegetarian options: As expected, there are so many vegetarian (and vegan) options, both as a dish or just a drink and snack

This place has so much potential for being absolutely incredible if not for the service/staff. We were a group of 4 on a Sat morning (and it wasn t busy at all) but had to physically go and get the staff for everything from taking our order, to refilling our coffee, to asking for more water and napkins apparently making eye contact and waving at them doesn t work. We also had to physically go inside the cafe when we were ready to pay and even then the staff did not attend to us let alone remembered what we ordered. The food though was amazing in all aspects portion size, price and presentation however if it weren t for the food, this would be a 1 star establishment and we likely would not return.

I had the worst faloodeh ever which cost 10$ , too expensive for such quality. It was frozen! Obviously it was not a fresh made faloodeh and I am sure it is from a supermarket (which costs sth like 15$ for 2 litres and it is frozen!) They also added watermelon on top of it, which smelled like onion! I am sure they used the same knife for cutting the onion and watermelon.

We had lunch in Cafe Toranj and were impressed by food s quality and volume and the warm service and hospitality. We had koofteh, gheymeh, mirza ghasemi and dopiaze, all amazingly delicious. Apetizers and sides were similarly good, including the fresh basil, yogurt, and pickles. Most of all, service was like nothing we had seen in Quebec. Will absolutely return in our future visits to Montreal.

The food here was great. Its more pricy but very good quality and presented nicely, wonderful taste. The place is a little dingy however. Service was very slow, tables wonky and chairs uncomfortable. Surface level it looks upscale and stylish but its actually very rundown. Even the air in the place is not fresh, circulating and uncomfortable.

I recently went and it was one of the most expensive cafes that I experienced. The prices were not reasonable, service quality was poor. Totally I wont recommend. Food

We enjoyed a delicious dinner. The dishes were perfectly seasoned, not overly salty. Having dined at this cafe in the past, I had enjoyed their falafel platter. To my surprise, I was informed that falafel was no longer on the menu. Despite this, the chef kindly accommodated our request and prepared falafel for our table. This gesture is truly commendable and greatly valued. Thank you. I sincerely request the return of the five-falafel platter, if possible.

Its a nice cafe on sherbrooke street. The quantity is pretty huge but the taste is just fine. The service was delayed for us but I guess it was just one girl who was taking care of the entire place. All & all, it was good. I might go back to give it a shot again.

Such a lovely place. The food was great and quite reasonable too. Their tea is so good! I d recommend sharing their larger plates cause it s very filling.

We ordered for delivery and they didnt put the order in a bag! It left a stew stain on my doorstep carpet. They gave us the wrong order. Both dishes were tasteless. Celery stew had a lot of bones in it. The Gheyme bademjan was split peas and a roasted eggplant on the side it wasnt cooked in the stew, the eggplant didnt have any spices or even salt.

Stopped for a quick coffee and shake. The latte was delicious and the Nutella shake was sooo creamy and absolutely delicious.

I ate the lamb neck and fessenjoun and Ive previously tried the Revani. The food here is the best Ive had in this city in a long time, and I love to eat and eat well. The lamb, especially, was straight from my childhood and the flavor was really beyond description. I ate lunch at the Ritz recently and the food here was light-years ahead of that. It is real home cooking but so refined. My new favorite restaurant and one everyone absolutely must try. I cannot recommend it enough. Also the rice is perfect :)

Such a cool place to sit and eat. Huge variety of eatables and drinks. We had masala tea. It was tea pot good enough for 3 people. But we personally felt it was enough for 4-5 people. It was one of the most awesome teas we had. Service was awesome. Nice staff

Very nice, quaint, local business. We loved the Persian baklava and qottab and the coconut cookie. We also got a saffron latte that was very good, the saffron was great. Finally, the Nutella milkshake, which was delicious too. The staff are all very nice and speak Farsi and the ambiance was nice and calm too.

The food is delicious and the place is pretty to enjoy the summer. The soups are very good. But the service is terrible. No one to ask for anything and they ignore you. Dont come and ask if everything is okay. We have to go see for ourselves to get something.

I do not have a good experience in this coffee, first my order came wrongly and late, after that I had ordered two biscuits and they were not fresh, the prices are high compared to food quantity. And the behaviour of waiter is not appropriate! Totally, I am not satisfied with my experience!

Nice & cozy ambiance overall. I find the tea pricy. I had safran late, it was ok. At first, I really tasted the safran & was impressed, but it was kinda just on the surface! Not sure if thats how it should be!

Terrible service with yummy food! There is a section in the cafe that is behid a wall somehow and they are not able to see the section with sofa so this is the reason that they dont pay attention. The atmosphere is cute but needs a serious repairment cuz the coffee table that was infront of us was glued together and you could easily see the glue. The kadaif and saffron cake were very yummy.

I visited this place two years ago and it was amazing. I went again today, it was horrible. low food quality, poor service and bad atmosphere.

I had a very disappointing experience at cafe Toranj. We went for breakfast and we were the first ones to arrive. I ordered a Persian breakfast, but they brought me a wrong one. My friends had to eat without me while I waited for my correct order. The waitress did not apologize or offer any compensation for the mistake. He was unprofessional. It seemed like he did not care about his job or the customers. I suggest that if you do not like your job, you should quit. I do not recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a nice brunch. About the brunch: The portion was good enough. It tasted delicious I only took picture of my friends s omelette.

One of the orders was missed so that I had to call the cafe, and finally to fix the inconsistencies they sent me an additional meal. The manager s approach was considerated and I am satisfied in total. Also, the quality of the foods are truly good so I recommend the Toranj cafe.

Very loud music for such a small café and decrepit decor. Im there I went to have tea there and a salad to bring. Very very slow service. The waiter who does not speak French brought the salad to take home at the same time as the tea to consume on site. So she spent over an hour and a half on the table. There was so much dressing in my spinach/pomegranate salad that I had to throw out 3/4 of it. For $20 a salad, thats a lot to pay to swallow 4 cocktail tomatoes. Too bad, the place seemed nice.
