Eggspectation - Complexe Desjardins in Montreal

I went there this morning Dec 17, 2024 at 10:45 am & I asked the waiter for a table for 2 people, he gave us the worst and smallest table & when we politely asked him to change the table into a different one, he said no I have too many reservations and he said it in a very rude and impolite way and we felt like he wanted us to leave if we didn t like the table, so we left the restaurant and went to a different place and I will never come back again as long as their way of treating customers is very bad. I wouldn t recommend this restaurant at all if you want to feel comfortable.

Food was okay, service was slow even though it didn t seem too busy, a bit pricey for the American breakfast. Value is better at the breakfast place down the street on St. Catherine s.

Excellent and always fast... Lunches are a little expensive, but thats downtown Montreal... They have to pay the rent... ;-)

The food met my eggspectation, but maybe for the price and no coffee included, it would/could be better? It took awhile to get service to place our order, even when the many servers were walking around and chatting. We do understand the possible busy day later on with the Santa Claus parade, but to be given the bill at about 9am, 20 minutes after getting our food was a very big surprise!!!!???? We still gave over 20% tip so maybe we can be welcomed?

We went for brunch and it was all very good, generous portions so much so that it was difficult to finish it all. The staff was very friendly, location nothing special. The salmon inside the bagel they make was very good, and in general all the ingredients they choose In the end, considering that we had brunch, we spent around 30-35CAD with taxes included.

Everytime i visit Montreal, i have to breakfast here. The restaurant is well decorated, the waitress doing an amazaing job, even too much there is so many customers is unbelievable. The food is so good . The mimosa are well mix. The menu is very well done.

Last breakfast in Montreal, very good, orange ricotta pancakes with black cherries, waffles with pear and bacon. Lovely friendly staff, great food, nice restaurant which also does dinner, next time will have to try that. Also ate in the Toronto one, this was a nicer ambience. And a slightly different menu.

SUPPER Great discovery of the dinner version of this renowned lunch restaurant. To discover for a calm atmosphere with good service and good food. I was won over by the Nashville sandwich/burger (I asked for the Nashville sauce on the side, being spicy). It will remain in our choices for a future visit to the area. Dare to come in for dinner, even if, by reputation, this restaurant is associated with lunches.

Food was the star, we got 3 different things and all of them were amazing! Service was also good, really friendly and helpful staff, and the place is nice and clean. It s also perfectly located.

Such a good breakfast and brunch spot. The setup is a bit more elegant, posh than I expected but the food is really good. I almost want to say its like a home cooked meal but it does have a touch of like premium or gourmet to the dishes. I got the Eggstravaganza out whatever. Basically it was 2 pancakes, potatoe slices and eggs (I subbed the pork for an extra egg). Came to CAD 30 which was ridiculously overpriced but it was a really good meal. Best for a nice date or business meeting. Or friends brunch or a nice treat yoself type of deal.

Nice breakfast restaurant, that offers a lot of different options for a reasonable price! Last time I had the fried chicken & waffle and a big bowl of Café au lait. All quite good and nothing to complain here!

My friend was not allowed to be seated for no reason. He never even did anything wrong! A complete pisstake if you ask me.

Service was great. Food was bad. Potatoes had a fish after taste. The sausages are half the size of a normal sausage. Had the American breakfast. Do not recommend.

Just a tourist trap place. The wait staff was very rude and sloppy with my order. They mixed it up and i asked if the customer who got my food touched it and the server freaked out on me and then took the food back up front and complained about me pointing at me when i just asked a simple question. In addition, the food made me just feel sluggish the rest of the day. I was expecting a larger portion more than just a single sliced piece of french toast that wasnt even that great. Try a less tourist trap breakfast place, this place is disappointing and overpriced.

One of the best brunches in Montreal. Ive tried many places and this is where I keep coming back. Top notch staff. [EDIT] the new menu killed it. Most of our favorite foods are gone, along with brown and multigrain bread. Damage!

Excellent breakfast spot

My wife invited me to try this address, because she had found it on the internet using the geolocation of our hotel. The place was well rated. Why not try it? From the moment of arrival, the welcome is impeccable and continues throughout the service until departure from the establishment. The menu offers a variety of choices, whether breakfast, dinner or lunch. The table service is rather quick, but above all the dishes are good, as are the smoothies. Two days later, when I returned, an order error allowed me to find a dish that I certainly would never have ordered. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant surprise for me.

The staff generally smiling and courteous EXCEPT the young man who served us. He had no smile, basic service and whispered. Maybe a bad day for him.

My favorite breakfast place in Montreal.

My boyfriend said the one in Brossard was great so we thought we d try this one and we both were so disappointed. He asked twice portion bacon instead of ham and literally had 3 slices in his plate. Everything was cold. I had pasta and it was okay but cooked too long. Service was just so bad also the waiter looked like he was there cause he had lost a bet. When he came for the bill I told him I m sorry I know it s not your fault but the food was very disappointing. He just said you should have said so now I can t do anything.:I get it but having worked in restaurants and costumer service I think it s unprofessional to just answer that. He looked like he couldn t care less. I m a good tipper and I never leave reviews but in both cases today I felt like even the 15% wasn t justified and I just had to leave a review cause I rarely have such disappointing experiences. The hostesses and terrasse were nice but that s about it.

Recently, they ve upped their game The potatoes are fresher, so are the fruits, and they ve added a strawberry and mascarpone topping that you can select as an add-on to your waffle or French toast or crepe. Mmmm!

Top notch performance as usual and the friendliness of both staff and patrons was surprisingly refreshing. Bring your friends and family its definitely worth memories.

Great mix of unique breakfast offerings.

This place is no longer what it used to be unfortunately. Came in for lunch & requested to substitute some of the starch in my order to vegetables & didnt mind paying extra. The extra I was quoted was almost the cost of the order itself! When the order arrived it was mainly starch & cream with a tiny bit of chicken. I understand the need for cost cutting but this is just a ripoff. The service wasnt anything special either & the server didnt seem to care.

Great place for a very very substantial brunch! We came with family and friends and we had a great time. I had the ham cheese crepe with salad and maple syrup sauce, it was excellent and plentiful. The service is very pleasant and attentive.

Great foods, alit of brands, very calm

We were there Sunday the 18th at around 1pm and we were very disappointed by the experience. The waiter that sat us was very cold and did not seem to like his job which made the atmosphere unpleasant. When we received our food, my sisters plate had a piece of a plastic glove in it. So we then asked another waitress to have them remake it. Within 3 minutes, she returns with the exact same plate, saying it has been remade but we know it was not since the placement of the ingredients was the exact same. They didn t think we would notice. We get the attention of the first waiter who served us to let him know of the situation and he finally brings the plate remade. We quickly eat and then get the bill. They should have offered us a discount for the inconvenience however they do not. I don t bother asking for one either because at that point we just wanted to leave. I get that restaurants have off days but our waiter was completely unapologetic about the situation and was cold making us not want to come back.

Was lovely to come here by myself for breakfast. Service was really good and my server was very nice. The food was sooo good and just the right amount that I was stuffed . Would love to come here again when I visit Montreal!

Fantastic spot for an amazing breakfast! Our server Nikaita was so gracious. helpful and cheery. Not enough can be said about the difference that great service makes. It was a pleasure and we hope Nikita can serve us again on our next visit!

The food was ok For what it was, it was quite expensive. I asked the hostess if we could sit in 1 of the booths. When I got here, only 1 was being used, and since that 1 table left, none. She said no because its for groups of 4. I understand if the place was busy, but it was not, obviously. This is why I lowered the service rating. There is one more reason, but I am not comfortable writing that publicly.

Lots of noise, cold service, and unpleasant waitress who tells us that 15% tips are mandatory but in this case we should indicate this before ordering. In short, expensive for eggs

I ordered a chocolate banana crepe, the waiter doesn t understand English nor French when I asked him to provide a bit honey, then he dropped coffee in my food. I used to like this place but now it is a horrible experience.

We love this place! Best breakfast in the city with so many choices. Food is fresh, hot, and service is impeccable. Recommend the Classic and Crab Benedict s, French toast flambé, Eggstravganza, and their salads. Can t go wrong with any of it. Large portions, fresh coffee with constant refills, great mimosas, and spicy Bloody Mary s they have it. Large parties handled with ease and food coming out of the kitchen is fast. From the hostess at the front door to the wait staff, very impressed. Nikita, our waiter is the best!

Wonderful restaurant for breakfast. Food was fantastic and creative. Our meals came quickly, regardless of how busy the dining room was. Atmosphere is very cool and hip. Indoor and outdoor seating. Servers are all great, kind, and attentive. Hostess was extremely lovely, friendly, and welcoming. We actually came back three times during the week we spent in Montreal. We highly recommend Eggspectation if youre in the area and looking for an awesome breakfast experience.

Nice place to enjoy a good meal

Ok, let s talk about that waffle, one of the best I ever had. Chicken is so so but the waffle impressed me so much.

Not my first time going to an eggspectation, but this morning was particularly special. First of all, the avocado toast benedict was excellent and the service was very quick. Second, the waitress Noah and the bartender Anna were incredible. It was pretty cool to meet some fellow martimers in Montreal! I definitely recommend this place...easy, great service, friendly staff...never disappoints.

I love this restaurant. I visit from NY/PA around 5-6 times a year. I make sure I eat brunch every single day I am in Montreal. The food is amazing. The restaurant is spotless. The service is perfect. I especially adore Nikitas. He actually knows my order whenever I am there. He will see me and immediately get my beverages (diet soda and a glass of wine). We then chat a bit while my order is being prepared. He knows all his customers and truly enjoys his job. It is so refreshing. He makes you feel like family. The entire staff makes sure each guest is cared for and happy. I have been visiting Montreal for over 20 years and have been to many restaurants in the area. I can honestly say that this place is THE BEST for breakfast, brunch, and lunch/early dinner. The menu never disappoints. The staff is incredible. The entire experience is wonderful. I have never been let down by this restaurant. I absolutely recommend it to tourist and locals. It is a gem.

Best ever Prime Rib Benny!

I was in Montreal fof the jazz festival and me and my family had breakfast every morning at this place for 5 straight days!! Nikita Mark and Amanda were awesome servers!!!Food is delicious !!!

I recommend for a Brunch thats what I take, everything is good and especially the GREEN LIGHT juice, very fresh and light. the service is excellent, very helpful and fast especially when you are hungry.

The ambience was nice even though it was busy. The staff were very prompt and friendly. Our server spoke English and French. We had the All American and the Montrealer Omelette. Both were very good. One warning though, Im not sure which part of the All American it was, but if youre lactose intolerant you might want to take a lactase pill just in case. I think the potatoes lyonnaise are pan fried in a lot of butter.

We showed up in MTL early early in the morning, dropped our bags at the hotel and popped in here for breakfast. Smoked salmon eggs Bennie was so good. This is the best hollandaise Ive had other than my home made. We were going to get mimosas but ended up getting bourbon lemonades and we were day drunk when the shops opened. Perfect starter to the MTL trip.

Our breakfast food was ok... Nothing special. The service could have been better. Our host was not attentive, especially getting our food to us. It was not packed with people. Our food was sitting there on the counter for a while so by time he brought it, it was room temperature. I would not go back to visit. But that was my experience, hopefully someone elses will be better.

This place is a must-visit if you are in Montreal! The food is wonderful to start. I got the Eggspectation crepe and it was cooked perfectly and tasted magnificent. What surprised me was how good the service was even on such a busy Saturday morning as it was when we went. I think this place deserves far more than five starts! Parking: This is on a public walking street and thus has no direct road access or nearby parking. Like most places in downtown Montreal, you will have to walk or bike a couple minutes to get here Wheelchair accessibility: Movement can be tight because of how busy it is, but most of the store is ground level and would be able to accommodate fine

We love going here for breakfast when we visit our daughter in Montreal! We love that we feel like regulars as Nikitas already knows exactly what we want to order and remembers it down to the detail! We love Cayenne s smile when we walk in, and missed her on our last trip yesterday!!!

Excellent place for breakfast, the service is good and the place is cute, the fruit was fresh and delicious. The crepe is very good and the accessories like the ham have a very good flavor. (I give it 4* because one of the pancakes came out dry but I think it was an occasional mistake)

Whoever graded this place below 5, should have their head examined. Our server was an 10. Our food a 10. My wife had the Eggs Benedict Classic. I has the big breakfast with French Toast made from Brioche bread. If in doubt. Go. You wont be sorry.

Nikitas provided the best service experience of our entire Montreal visit. After one visit, he memorized our entire order, including allergy concerns and add-ons! The second day we came for breakfast, we didnt have to say a word, he remembered it all. He was also on top of coffee refills and making sure we were happy with our food. All the food was delicious. I had the Eggspectation Omelette and it was amazing. I highly recommend that you visit, and ask for Nikitas!

Food was decent enough, probably better than I was expecting but the service was bad. For a table of 6 there were multiple errors and the server gave us attitude instead of just fixing it. In my case they lost my order, then forgot the re-order and then in their rush forgot other elements on the plate. Not what I was expecting for what we paid (over 50$ each). Kid-friendliness: They have the plastic high chairs (boosters).

Disappointing welcome and unprofessional care

I went to this restaurant on a Tuesday morning during my vacation in Montreal. I had already spotted their menu which compiled classics with touches of originality. My target: their savory pancakes. The service was very good, fast, the waiters friendly and the restaurant quiet. You can see in the photo there is plenty to eat! And I have a big stomach! All the flavors were present in this dish: the bacon, the pancakes, the egg, the sausages. It was a very good dish! As beautiful as it is good I recommend! 5/5

Quite a few people and a lot of waiting before being seated for brunch! Once at the table the magic happens, the servers are very good and the dishes are good! Coloring and pencil offered to keep the children busy :) Kid-friendliness: Yes, things offered to keep them occupied as well as adapted menus

Everything is a tad on the dry side. Fries, potatoes and particularly the pancakes. The rest was ok.

Lunch one afternoon. The restaurant was full, so a lot of noise. The presentation is beautiful, the service fast and pleasant. The portions are very generous. Be careful, its quite high in fat. Were not hungry anymore, thats for sure. On the other hand, we were never given water even though it was super hot. The pancakes were dry. The toilets are clean. It costs $20 for a dish on average and after a drink, it easily goes up to $30 per person.

Dont miss anything. The pancakes are presented with good decoration but their flavor is not special apart from the fact that they are super expensive. A breakfast for 2 people with orange juice and pancakes $90 with tip and tax. I dont recommend it at all, there are better and cheaper places.

This place is excellent and in a very convenient location. I went twice. Sat at the bar and was served by Porag. Thank you to him for an amazing experience that made me go back a second time with friends. Great atmosphere and the food was amazing. Great coffee and fresh juices also. Thank you guys!!! Good but not hot

The place is nice, the service was very good, my only point is that I expected more from the pancakes, good presentation but they are very floury, they dont fluff for the same reason, I didnt like them, I expected more.

Great place to go around and have something to eat. There is a wide array of fast food shops which we dont have in Ottawa. There is an IGA supermarket where you can buy some goods to bring if you are checked into hotels within the area. Parking is great and seems to be safe, make sure to bring along additional locks for your car. If you are checked into nearby hotels, their basement parking is convenient. Overnight 24 hour parking is CA$25, however, I did not reached the 24 hour mark and I only paid CA$15.

Waited 20 minutes for a servers to come to our table and when they did they dropped off waters said sorry for the wait and immediately walked away. Worst service I ve ever experienced. Not even busy.

Good place for breakfast!

My family and I spent a few days in Montreal for a concert and came across this establishment best breakfast we had while we were there hands down! Nikitas was our server both days we went and he was absolutely excellent!

Amazing service and food.

We went (3) times during our trip to Montreal and loved it each and every time. My favorite was the Salted Caramel Waffles with Pears and Bacon. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We also had the French Toast Flambe and Breakfast Poutine which were also delicious.

My orange juice had so much pulp it was basically undrinkable. Eggs benedict were also a bit disappointing

Tasteless food, rock music too loud (on a Sunday morning) and low egg prices for the quality of the food.

What a good meal, the waffles, potatoes and bacon were delicious. The drinks were very good and the service very friendly. Although the eggs are not the best, they are still good. It is important to mention that it is not cheap but it is totally worth it.
