Nice restaurant and view from 45 floor, food is just ok. Service should be improved cuz it was very slow and cold. Our waiter was not friendly at all and taking too long to take order and food come very slow and even when we asked for the bill also very slow but The restaurant was not busy. I will not be back.

The restaurant was fabulous especially with the view. The waiter ruined my night when after I paid and gave a good tip he started lecturing me and my guest on how it is the Quebec culture to always tip 15% and above and honestly it s the most absurd thing I have ever heard from a waiter. It s so wrong to tell customers on how much to tip you for an already expensive dinner. Asides from this the other waiters were very kind and the ambience was great!

Magnificent setting with spectacular views of Montreal. Disappointing service, my husbands aperitif glass was removed when he went to take a photo, even though he hadnt quite finished! We reported it to the waitress, to no avail! The dishes are very good, nothing to say about the cooking, except that there isnt much on the plate! Overpriced prices. We pay for the view. Also at the end of our meal, we were asked to leave the table. We dont even have time to finish our conversation!!!

Regarding culinary experiences, the food is mainly the main actor from an ensemble cast, ranging from the patrons attitude to how the logistics are handled in the flow of the evening. My experience at Hiatus was pleasantly hors pair from the paring in our group palette of available food to how to savor baked oysters. That night, the staff and chef of Hiatus made our night one to remember.

We went to this restaurant without really knowing what to expect. The cocktails were good. The view and the atmosphere were there. On the other hand, the menu choice is very very limited. The hygiene of the servers was not up to par, meaning they smelled very strongly of sweat.

Hiatus, the once-perfect social study spot with the best view of Montreal in Place Ville Marie, has sadly transformed into yet another corporate elite sky deck restaurant. It used to be the first place I d take friends visiting Montreal a unique blend of stunning views and a relaxed atmosphere where you could study until 4 pm without a fuss (very reasonable). Now, even though it stays practically empty during the day, they ve cut off studying altogether, turning their backs on the community that made it special. It s disappointing to see such a vibrant, inclusive space sacrificed for exclusivity.

The view of this restaurant is exceptional, ambience is great; however, the food doesn t worth the price neither the service. When you tell your waitress that you are not in a hurry and her reply is but you only have 2 hours. You know that this service does the worth the $. In addition, the waitress left the tab on our table without us asking or saying a word is so inappropriate. It s a place to try once, but wouldn t go back.

Getting to the restaurant was a bit of an adventure taking two elevators and then a set of stairs, but once there, the views were amazing. The service was great. The food was surprizingly hot and fresh considering it came all the way from the first floor kitchen. The food itself was good, but not outstanding, and the portions were among the smallest we had during our stay. All in all, its an impressive special date night or business dinner location, but not on I would frequent.

Nice view but a bit expensive

A great place to admire Montreal from above while drinking great cocktails... but you have to stop there because eating there was not a great experience, first of all a house policy which tells you that you cannot do not take a discovery menu and an à la carte dish at the same table, either everyone takes the menu or a main course. The reason comes from the kitchens Because everything must be served at the same time. I had never seen that (at least I would have experienced something exceptional). If a person does not like seafood, I advise you to pretend that you have allergies, this will be the only way to be able to override this obligation. Take your epinephrine injection anyway, this obligation is so stupid that you might need to do a test. Being served on practically only chipped plates for a restaurant that charges these high prices is average. Finally, a duck breast ordered rare which arrives raw, maybe its me who didnt understand cooking well but when you have as much difficulty swallowing your piece of duck as chewing gum its that the cooking is not good you might as well not cook it and serve it alive. Ha and the main courses were not served at the same time. Weird The place is great, the view magnificent, the cocktails very good, the music really pleasant. The only problem is the kitchen, too bad for a restaurant/bar.

Beautiful place, rather difficult to access from the 42nd floor. Very good service, superb view. Food wise expensive. The goysa paste was dry, the sauce too vinegary and we are still looking for black garlic. On the other hand, nice presentation...Arctic char with dry edges also served on a super vinegary chive sauce. Cauliflower of all colors crumbled raw on a little creamed cooked cauliflower makes a very pretty colorful presentation but nothing more. The design of the plates should be accompanied by more refined cuisine. We also feel that the cooking is best done on another floor...everything is lukewarm... Disappointed with the kitchen.

I went there for a drink with 2 specialist doctors for a drink. It was just over 1pm. The place was nearly empty. Well it ends up that it was just not possible to have a drink and enjoy the sight because some obscure reason as his night shift people where starting in 2 hours. Views are spectacular but, just another place that cannot just serve a glass of wine and has to make everything unpleasant.

Excellent mix between atmosphere, view and quality. We took the blind tasting menu and the food and wine pairing. Succulents. The perfectly spaced services give you time to taste the wines presented by the sommelier. The progression of services is carefully thought out to help you appreciate all the flavors and aromas. Favorites for striped bass and potatoes to accompany beef.

Perfect welcome, pleasant service, exceptional view and quality of the dinner. Chic place, a little expensive, but the exceptional character of the place has a price.

Pros: I dined at Hiatus with my family and were delighted by the spectacular view and cozy ambiance of the restaurant. The service was impeccable, with professional and attentive servers. Congratulations to the whole team. Cons: Portions are very small, 3 to 5 bites even for main courses, which leaves larger appetites hungry. The prices are excessive for what is served. Despite the pleasant experience linked to the location and the view of the city, I will not return to the Hiatus. THANKS

À la carte un midi 3 services bonnes portions 55$ , oui un bon vin ajoute à la facture mais au 46e on vous offre plus que de la restauration rapide. Great view but that s about it. The worst quality/price ratio I found in Montreal for food and by far. Spent 300$ and had to go grab dinner somewhere else after cause we were so hungry. Food is average at best and maybe twice the price it should be. Sad to see rooftops in Montreal are so badly managed compared to other cities. Better to spend money somewhere else in Montreal like Monarque

Inspired fusion menu. Excellent presentation and clear cohesion of the dishes belies the creative intent behind it all. Staff know the menu well and offer interesting pairing suggestions. The oysters are excellent. Will be going back to try the tasting menu.

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Hiatus Restaurant and Bar with a friend, and I cant help but share our incredible experience. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the waitress Jenny, who made our evening unforgettable. The customer service was exceptional, I would even say it deserves a solid 100/100! Jenny was attentive to our needs throughout the meal which really added a personal touch to our experience. As for the food, it was simply delicious, a real feast for the taste buds, again 100/100! The atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant and friendly which helped make our evening even better. I can only wholeheartedly recommend Hiatus Restaurant and Bar to anyone looking for a quality dining experience. You will not be disappointed !

Excessively expensive for the taste experience, unfortunately

The food was mediocre, I was expecting better for the price point. The drink was absolutely HORRIBLE, made by a shaky and nervous bartender who spilled half the drink, and didn t bother to replace the spilled drink or ask for another. The only saving grace are the views from up here.

My husband and I had baked oysters, Japanese wagyu, and milk chocolate. I loved the atmosphere, the view, and the service. Its a great place to have a special dinner with your loved one. I reserved a table a day before to request to be seated by the window. I liked all our food. Theyre well-seasoned. That might be good or other peoples preference, but if you are like me who likes less salt and just a simple piece of steak, just maybe ask if they can put the gravy or sauce on the side instead of pouring it on top of the steak. Other than that, its a great evening all and all.

Quite a disappointing experience. Having done many Montreal restaurants of various standards, this one did not live up to our expectations. Perfect for a drink and to enjoy the view, but the food is average for exorbitant prices. Minimal portions under the guise of gastronomy. Finally, a service that leaves much to be desired. Between the waiter who makes us feel guilty for our lateness for a room that is far from full and the fact that the waiters did not treat us with care.. In short. If it werent for the kitchens gesture of keeping it open longer (a very merciful gesture given the lateness of some members of the group), the service would be 2 stars. I recommend sharing dishes which are more taste-worthy than main dishes.

Service was friendly, obviously the views are gorgeous and the decor is nice as well. Probably one of the few bathrooms that smell nice. Food is pricy for the portions and quality. The short ribs were dry. The dumplings were pretty good especially with the sauces. The milk bread was...bread. the edamame was tasty and peeled. I did enjoy my Sakura cocktail. My friends whiskey cocktail was pretty good as well.

Haute gastronomy at its best

Amazing views where the service is impeccable! Drinks are great, but honestly the food could be better. The shrimp noodles were not good at all and my $160 wagyu Australian was extremely ordinary to be honest. The hot sauces, edamame, & mash potatoes were decent but the star of the show were the ribs, which were absolutely delicious.

Had an amazing dinner experience when we came here. The food was really delicious and everything was cooked beautifully. My favorite was their Huîtres au four (oysters) and Canard vieilli (duck). Our favorite cocktail was penthouse pearls, they had really tasty popping boba at the bottom. The views from this restaurant were stunning. The service was really good and they even swap out your utensils for different items. They are a bit pricey and the items are quite small but we still loved everything. Definitely would recommend trying!

The view is just amazing and i recommend going around 6:30 during summer time to see the sunset during your dining experience. Very very expensive for what it is and especially the portions. By keeping the same portions the prices should be at least 20% cheaper. A steak of halibut weighing around 160g for $56 with taxes and tip it s $75 per dish! And youre still hungry afterwards! Even in Paris we dont pay that with the exchange rate. And the service should be tighter. I have the impression of dealing with the servers of Les Enfants Terribles but with the prices of Le Toqué. At this price ask your customers for a certain level of dress code. 3 young people at the bar with baseball caps on backwards it s expensive and it s annoying! I dont think Ill go back there.

I thought this was going to be overhyped. I heard about it from TikTok - those places are usually underwhelming. That was not the case! Hiatus was fantastic! The views of the city were great. I don t think there was a bad table here. Service was also really good. Our waiter was clearly excited about his job. He recommended a cocktail and wine by listening to our preferences, and then nailed it! Same with the food. We asked him about a couple appetizers, and without hesitation he told us what he recommends, and why. Was he right???? Absolutely! The ribs were flavorful. The squid pasta was creative, unique, and delicious! The mains were creative, well presented, and delicious! Highly recommend!

This is the place, this is ittttt it s just wow! It literally takes your breath away.

Of course, the view is incomparable. Perched atop Place Ville Marie, you are above any other building and almost every one of the citys beautiful landmarks are visible. The modern and elegant decor provides a comfortable atmosphere complimented by excellent and friendly service. The cocktails are delicious, creative and do not skimp on the alcohol (to take the edge off the acrophobia) The intricate, exquisite and expertly prepared meals suit the overall ambiance perfectly and, while the portions arent overly large, they deliver exceptional flavours that will satisfy a healthy appetite. We had a wonderful and memorable time and would gladly return in the future

I thank the entire team for giving us a unique experience in Montreal. I would also like to highlight the art master Barman Cédric located on the second floor. It is certain that I will relive this experience again, he was able to clearly define what hospitality means!!! The sushi was excellent, the service very friendly and the atmosphere is just incredible, the serenity it exudes and the view impressive, the price is a little high but it is well worth it!

We loved everything on the menu especially the foie gras tart had to order it twice. Service was excellent Olivier suggested a great wine to go with carefully curated dishes and Olinto gave excellent service from beginning to end-so much attention to detail. The is one of the best places to put on your list whenever you re in Montreal. It s a little tricky to locate the restaurant so I have added extra information on the pictures. You will be treating yourself to a phenomenal night view of the city and some really great food and drinks. Do well to order the Newton s Law cocktail, you will thank me you did. Awesome service! Incredible experience, breathtaking view, perfectly mastered dishes, we had an exceptional evening! The service was perfect, each dish as delicious as the next. We really fell in love with the foie gras and oysters in sabayon, as well as the soft milk bread, it was absolutely perfect! The only downside: we had difficulty finding the entrance to the tower because many of the doors are boarded up!

Of no interest. As with the enfant terribles. We pay for the rooftop, the location, but honestly the quality/price ratio is really average. The food is just meh. The cocktail is classic. Total disappointment. Its nice on Instagram but without any interest. Keep your money. Go your way.

Not the worst experience but I d recommend visiting Les enfants terribles just next door for the same, or even better views of the city (and much better food). The food was extremely overpriced without being wow and I genuinely feel scammed over the $250 I paid for the tiny amount of wagyu that was served. When I told a friend who works as a chef in a renowned fine dining restaurant in the city, she informed me that, for that amount, even her restaurant would not charge over $50, despite using the highest grade of wagyu available. That 500% markup for no good reason is just crazy. Overall, the food was actually good. Just disappointed in the portions and service time. It might not have been too long of a wait, had we been able to enjoy our cocktails; however, they were way too acidic so we left them untouched.

One of my best meals in Montreal. Beautiful and refined plates with an exquisite blend of flavors. Attentive and professional service. What can I say about the view? In short, one of my most beautiful experiences. I advise everyone!

Management has to reconsider whoever is running the cafe. First, the online channels such as instagram post a closure of the cafe and states that it reopens on the 26th. After going 3 times and finding out each time it was actually still closed, someone working at PVM said it s not open until the 10th of October. After checking the instagram on the 10th, I find hidden obscurely in the comments of their closure post which they never corrected or updated, the instagram account posts that the cafe will no longer be available to anyone other than workers at PVM. Elitist move, and just downright awful customer relations. Could ve made a section of the cafe reserved for workers, but no, keep everyone waiting and announce your changes subtly to avoid backlash.

From start to finish, the manager Alex and his staff were incredibly professional and facilitated such an amazing experience for me and my closest friends on my birthday. Originally, I was in place ville Marie to consult with Les Enfants Terribles about my birthday, but stumbled upon Hiatus. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted and treated with respect. Communication with staff to work out the details was efficient and headache free. The night of, staff was attentive and friendly to all my friends and myself. Throughout the night, staff stayed professional even as the drinking went on. After the party, all my friends reached out to me to say how amazing the night was. The bar also offers a breathtaking view on top of all this! A sincere thank you to Alex and his team!

Very good experience overall. The cuisine is excellent. The reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is that we waited over 30 minutes to be attended to, an hour to get the meal. A little appetizer would be appreciated during this long wait.

Among the most beautiful scenery in Montreal. In this classy environment, you will be served like a sultan by all the waiters and staff. Pageau helped us pick and choose our delicious meals, ended up taking wagyu beef and black cod. You have to try their bluefin tuna appetizer. In other words, Japan meets French cuisine. Well done, will be back times again. Only upgrade I could suggest is the wine list, fairly limited with +-10 products only.

Very good service, the food was great and the setting and decoration are amazing.

Wow. The staff here? Incredible. Right from arrival with smiling, happy people to greet us - to our amazing servers and bartenders. Everyone was simply awesome to be around. They kept us laughing and entertained ALL NIGHT LONG. The food being sublime also helped, not a single dish was unmemorable - the flavours were all stellar. HIGHLY recommend. Oh, and the views were spectacular.

A place without words where you can drink very, very good quality cocktails! The staff is professional and listens to your wishes. I would definitely come back to try the food.

Amazing service. Cocktails were great and had depth of flavor. I had the aged duck and it was the best duck I ever had in my life. The sabayon-miso oysters were 11/10. The view and decor really cement this new restaurant as must.

It is a chick place to visit. Narrow corridors and intimate atmosphere bringing people together and seeing the beauty of the city. This is a place for drinks and get together 5-7. Love it! Food

I visited the new sushi and cocktail bar on 45th. The service is attentive, the nigiri I ate were perfect. Almost morbid attention is paid to every detail. The cocktail was on par with what I ate. Were going back.

Beautiful restaurant, well located (city center) with stunning views. Our server was very nice but we never saw the brioche bread we had ordered nor the tea at the end. Dont get the Wagyu beef, not good quality for the exorbitant price. Theft!
