Amazing hidden gem in old Montreal. I say hidden because we could not find the entrance. Might I suggest a new sign or marquis entrance that will increase walk in business. I had the best Old Fashion cocktail and the food was incredible 5 star for sure! Amazing staff and everyone was so friendly. Thanks bartender Jamie!!!!

One of the best meals weve had in a long time. Its the total package. Great atmosphere; terrific food, and efficient, friendly and very professional staff. Typically I would be turned off by a restaurant located on Place Jacques-Cartier (the epicenter of tourism in Old Montreal), but this place was truly exceptional. Highly recommend!

We love Maggie Oakes, especially while we stay at the William Gray. During our past visit, Cephas was such an amazing server. Eggs Benedict was quite fancy and it tasted good. A bit expensive though for me but I just had to try this. There were no smoked meats place open at the time I had this.

While the food was really good, the chai martini was to DIE for. Quick service and really friendly staff.

Nice restaurant and great service! On the other hand, we came for the Montréal à table brunch and what a disappointment $25 formula for a tasteless smoothie and avocado toast except that the plate was very thin and poorly arranged. A little toast and half an avocado sorry?!!! Way too much salad and it was wet!! In short, the presentation could have been a little more careful. The eggs werent even laid out. Its clearly not worth the price. My companion had the waffles for an extra $9 - on top of the menu price. The waffles were also wet, and the sauce had an unpleasant aftertaste. This establishment is participating in an event which aims to be of minimum quality. Here, I just have the impression that we wasted our money unnecessarily because we made much better establishments for Mtl at the table. I dont recommend it. One of the worst brunches in Montreal (which actually looked very promising!)

If you plan on hosting a large group I would definitely recommend Maggie Oakes! We were a group of 20 and from beginning to end it was a breeze. Food was excellent we took the 35oz cote de boeuf wit vegetable and the cooking was perfect. Service was on point not too fast not too slow. Just a little point about the hotesse she place us at a small table while they was many free table but when the food came it took like 2min for the manager to come and add another table. Overall we had a wonderful night and we left with joy of coming back soon.

We were about a dozen girls celebrating a birthday. I ordered the table dhote. The appetizer shrimp were disappointing as there was almost more batter than shrimp. The real disaster was the main course. I ordered a cod dish and the filet size was paper thin and appropriate for a small child. A gentleman who I assume was the maitre D agreed that it was a somewhat small portion & said hed have the dish replaced. He kindly brought a random appetizer in the meantime. My new dish took over 20 minutes to arrive. By then everyone had finished theirs. The new filet was much thicker but so undercooked that I could lift the whole thing when I stabbed it with my fork. I ate the edges and left the rest. When the waiter took my plate away he never inquired as to why so much fish was left. While I was waiting for my main course, I asked the others what they thought of theirs. Two different cuts of beef were over done and the chicken was acid. When the invoice came at least 3 guests noticed they had been overcharged and had to ask for a modification.

Excellent restaurant. Top notch service from Louis. We started with a wine flight which was paired with an appetizer bite. 2 whites and a red. Amazing pairings and what a start to the good. Our starters were wonderful...a goat cheese salad and Pate for my husband. We both had the 46 day dry aged NY strip with vegetables and a bourdalize sauce. The yuzu cream puff dessert was out of this world. We loved our meal so much we went back a second night to see Louis again. I highly recommend Maggie Oakes!!!

We were served by Pascal and his exceptional team for an MTL brunch at the table. I had not been so well served in a restaurant in Montreal since 2022. Very attentive to details and the well-being of their customers, Pascal and his team made us rediscover the standard of service in restaurants. The food was delicious and each dish executed with careful attention. I highly recommend this restaurant for your moments with family and/or friends. Know that during your experience there is a sublime team watching over you, and who understand that service in the catering sector is essential to having a pleasant time.

We went to brunch at Maggie Oakes recently. The experience was perfect! Our plate (eggs Benedict), the environment but above all the excellent service from Céphas, charmed us. I recommend this restaurant without hesitation, at least for brunch!

Limited selections, but GREAT food. The staff was friendly and helpful, but a bit overworked.

So certainly the food is good... But the price is way overpriced! And above all the service is endless even though it is a weekday and the restaurant is not full... 30 minutes for the wine, 45 minutes for the dish, after 20 minutes waiting for a waiter to order the dessert, we preferred to leave.

The service was courteous, professional, inviting, with a smile and best of all the fabulous food selections.

The atmosphere is good, but the service is bad. As you can see in the photo, the meal cost 2,000 yen, which seems expensive for a Japanese person. It took 30 minutes from ordering to the time the food came out.Do you have tea? When I asked about English breakfast, I was told it was perfect, but what came out was something completely different. Its been 30 minutes since I ordered, but when I asked what was going on, I was told that they were currently making the food, which I dont think would be acceptable in Japan. It was September 2024 at 10:30. I once again feel that Japans service level is excellent. Maybe this store isnt all bad...

The waiters were very nice but we had to wait for more than an hour to get our food. Also on the menu it said the salmon had carrots and the burger had lettuce and onions but when we ordered the food none of that was there.

Took my daughter and her friend for dinner last night. It was supposed to be a special night. Ordered soup and drinks - not bad. When waiting for the mains, however, we waited almost 2 HOURS. This is unacceptable. If we had gotten a previous heads up stating that the wait would be so long, it would have been better. However, with being told it would be coming after 10 minutes repeatedly, the process became infuriating, and for compensation after the 2 hours of being there, the manager gave us the smallest piece of cheesecake I have ever seen and the thinnest slice of chocolate cake, only knocking off our drinks from the tab. Bad management and bad client recovery attempt.

Nobody came to check in on us throughout our meal. The waitress did not make a wine recommendation when we asked for one. We felt rushed into our orders. We only got our steak knives after 30 minutes of having our food brought to us. The bread was only brought out 15 minutes after our mains. The bill was requested and we did not get it for easily 20 minutes. For a restaurant charging $250 for mains and one appetizer i would hope for better service than I can get at a chain restaurant. Shame on you guys. Will not be back.

We had excellent service from our server Léon. The food was really excellent, especially the steak which was perfectly cooked and incredibly tasty. The drinks were also delicious! If you are looking for a place to enjoy a good steak accompanied by good cocktails, I highly recommend this place!

I had a really disappointing experience at Maggie Oakes. After waiting an incredibly long time for our food, it finally arrived cold, as if they had forgotten about it. The steak, while not overcooked, was still the hardest and toughest steak I ve ever had it was nearly impossible to cut or chew. On top of that, the mashed potatoes had a strange, unpleasant taste that left me questioning the quality. Overall, the long wait and poor food quality made for a very frustrating dining experience. I wouldn t recommend this place if you re looking for a good meal or timely service.

Garlic mash potatoes alone are worth a visit. Our waitstaff was sweet and helpful. Patio heaters facilitated outdoor fall dining comfortably.

Quite unpleasant experience, we were a table of 8 with a baby, restaurant excrement noisy with music so people speak even louder, very very long service, very very expensive dish for a piece of meat and 3 vegetables on the plate.. . advice from a waiter who advises you not to take large pieces of meat when you want them and end up with a basic steak... frankly, never again.

I ordered the coconut crusted salmon for lunch with vegetables. The plate literally had two pieces of zucchini on it with a generous piece of salmon that was bland. My friend ordered vegetable soup and was disappointed to see it was a bowl of puree. Patio is lovely to sit but our food was not impressive.

Loved the amazing ambiance and location of the restaurant. Food was great and service was even better. Our waitress Sabrina, the brunette, knew how to anticipate our needs.

Very nice evening on the terrace for an aperitif and a meal. Everyone really liked their dishes: salmon tartare, mushroom or lobster pasta, salmon fillet, hamburger. In short, very nice place and impeccable service. We are absolutely going back!

Multiple meals at this establishment and so far, never disappointed. Friendly welcome and impeccable service. The menu is concise but with options, in my opinion, to please all tastes. Relaxed atmosphere, wine list with several options and several prices. We take care of you without being too present. We opted for a shared starter: shrimp with celery remoulade. Very good. Meal level: cauliflower and salmon. Once again, this is very appreciable. As for desserts, in my opinion, not at the same level as the dishes. We took the Paris Brest. Cream a little compact and the choux pastry a little elastic . We go there regularly and will return. Very nice place despite its location considered tourist. Offer that can appeal to both tourists and locals.

Good Lord, wherever you were thinking about going for dinner, cancel it and go to Maggie Oaks. Every single item we tasted was off the charts amazing. I didn t even get a chance to get pictures of the food, because it was amazing and we ate it too quick!

Our waitress Sabrina was an absolutely gem! She was so welcoming and definitely made our experience very enjoyable!

Beef cheeks and waffle was a home run! Very moist and tender beef cheeks, cooked fried chicken style, with a rich maple/beef gravy and herb oil. The Caesar was killer too, lots of dry spices and flavour! Their patio was overrun by hornets which was a little disappointing, but what can you do when theres flowers everywhere? They quickly moved us inside with no issues. Server was very nice, and personable but may have forgotten to check in on us a couple times. Not a huge issue, but stopped it from being 5/5 stars for service.

We had the Kentucky Cut for two and it was incredible! Shrimp Cocktail and Burrata were also delicious. Highly Recommended.

Lined up for breakfast. Though there were tables available waited 15 minutes to be seated. In that time no one on the patio had been served coffee or food. Clearly they are under staffed so we left.

The food was it exceptional but the service not so much.

This restaurant is referred to on its entrance as Perché in French, meaning perched. We went to its terrace, which is on the 4th floor, and features a bar, a covered plus an open over the Old Jacques Cartier Square. On this nice sunny day, we had a pleasant lunch with a nice view of Montreals town hall, Bon-Secours Market, and other high-rises around. Service is very good.

Last night we when on the Maggie Oakes terasse my husband and I. Not only did we love the food we also enjoy the service. It was really busy but you can see that teor staff has good experience. We were serve by Valery, she really knows her menu well and she is really good you can see she likes her job.

Went for brunch with my toddler. The Atlantic sandwich was superb and the sweet potato pancakes were delicious. Also, the service was excellent. The staff was very kind and understanding towards my very active toddler.

It wasn t the best experience for me and my family. The server was not very helpful when taking the order. The sauces for the steaks were not tasty, everything was taking too long, we had to reach out to another server to be able to place an order since we had waited for a very long time. Would not recommend dining here. Also very overpriced.

The menu is creative (I had the fried cauliflower with smokey sour cream on beet hummus). We ate inside in the delightful dining room which had innovative lighting fixtures, golden accents and celebrity pictures. Our waiter, Louis, was friendly and efficient.

Superb dinner. Excellent server, very attentive, and setting on the street was fantastic for people watching. We had oysters and steak with a bottle of Sancerre. Kids menu also very good and they added veggies on request. All meals were excellent and good value too.

The restaurant is beautiful and i ordered the filet mignon and it was soft and tender but the sauce is my issue. The flavor is so potent that it was overpowering. I ordered fries and they came less than 30 secs and they ended up being super dry. The veggies were delicious though.

A great culinary experience but disappointing service. Lots of new staff and a certain slowness in releasing dishes and just one latte! Nevertheless, refined dishes and a beautiful atmosphere. The brunch menu is around $28 on average for a dish. We had the Sheriffs Lunch (for a good appetite) and the Beef and Waffle. Two dishes that deserve a good 8/10 for creativity, taste and portion. Overall good value for money. You can choose to eat inside or outside. I recommend booking in advance as the restaurant is attached to the Hotel William Gray so you may have to wait a bit to get a seat. The butler did not hesitate to come and apologize for the slow service. Great attention paid to the customer experience. A great experience for a Brunch. I recommend without hesitation! Vegetarian options: Very few options but there are possibilities. Wheelchair accessibility: You can easily access the Hotel William Gray.

To be honest, nothing special. Too expensive for the quality. However, the service was very good.

Very rude and petty manager

I recently visited Maggie Oakes restaurant for my friends 30th birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, we were seated in our designated area and immediately noticed a strong draft from the vents that made our entire party uncomfortably cold. When we asked our waitress for help to reduce the air, she refused, stating that it was central AC and nothing could be done. After 30 minutes of freezing, I finally had to ask for the manager, who was able to adjust the air for us almost immediately. This should have been handled from the start. The food itself was another letdown. The soup chowder tasted like it came straight from a can of creamy corn bland and mediocre at best. The Salmon meal tasted like it came straight from the freezer and let s not even go into how the steaks we were served were so rare that most of our table had to pack it up and sear it again at home, as the restaurant couldn t or wouldn t correct it. The only saving grace of the meal was the desserts, which were decent, but that s hardly enough to redeem the overall experience. The service was just as disappointing. Our waitress was so rude that one of our guests had to explain to her the basics of customer service. I have never in my life given less than a 15% tip, even for subpar service, but this experience was so bad that we ended up leaving only 8%. For a high-end restaurant with such steep prices, the service and quality we received were completely unacceptable. I would not recommend Maggie Oakes, especially if you re looking for a pleasant dining experience for a special occasion.

The location was superb so we decided to have brunch there but service was poor. They took 15 minutes to serve us coffee and then 35 minutes for just an Avocado toast and a Salmon bagel. We had plans for the rest of the day which were ruined by them. The food was okay-ish but they completely ruined our day. The server didnt care to rush our order even after we told her 2 times. People who were seated after us left earlier than us. Very disappointed.. dont recommend it.

Steak was overcooked. Most prices were reasonable but some felt a bit ridiculous. Also initially doublecharged on the bill which we had to point out.

Servers are great! Inside dining is noisy but restaurant is nice and nicely appointed. Their signature aged beef is priced per ounce, but is prepared in pre-sliced 20oz portions...why not just list the cut by the actual price instead of forcing the customer to pull out the calculator to figure the price of the serving? We ordered the Flank Steak which admittedly is the lowest price cut, but I ordered it because I didnt want to try to polish off 20oz of steak for dinner. Ive had flank steak before and still enjoyed it but in this case I was sorry I ordered it. It was tough, chewy, and flavorless. I would recommend the restaurant remove it from the menu.

Worst service ever received. We were 3 girls visiting Montreal, when we wanted to eat on a terrace (without reservation). The hostess told us that there were no reservations, first come first served! Noticing that the terrace was full, we therefore went looking for another restaurant. We then noticed that he had 1 table of 6 free. We asked if it was possible to separate the tables so that we could eat. This is where the manager (blond man) arrived to shout at us and tell us that he was not taking orders from customers. Because of this horrible way of being spoken to, we decided that we no longer wanted to eat at this restaurant. We headed to the restaurant next door to look at the menu. And thats when the Manager once again rushes with a smile and runs towards the hostess of the Jacopo, to tell her not to seat us. He turns to us to tell us that this restaurant is owned by the same owner and that he wasnt going to seat us in that location either. Terrible costumer service. Horrible employee. No life skills, Horrible way of doing things. Perhaps training on how to interact and communicate with customers would be basic.. or just hire a manager who makes sense. I would never recommend this restaurant unfortunately.

Dining at this restaurant is always a pleasure. I selected this place to introduce my friends to one of Montreals hidden gems, and once again, it exceeded all expectations. Despite the heavy rain outside, the staff remained kind, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. We started our evening with cocktails and wine in the central lounge, which offered a cozy, intimate setting. Although we arrived without a reservation, one of the managers accommodated us, providing a table in a particularly special spot near the vertical garden. The seating was comfortable, and the lighting was just right, enhancing the overall ambiance. Our waitress was friendly and attentive from the moment we sat down. The restaurant s atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between modern and elegant, making it suitable for any occasion. The music played at a perfect volume, allowing for easy conversation. As always, the food was outstanding. Every dish was crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the variety of desserts was the perfect conclusion to our meal. The service was impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure we had an exceptional experience. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend the Steak Bavette, Salmon Tartare, the tropical cocktail, and of course, the desserts.

A quick trip to downtown Montreal we ate a huge and delicious burger and the perfect homemade fries!

I decided to celebrate my birthday at Maggie Oakes this year and had no regrets other than missing out on their terrasse experience! By the time I was making a reservation about a week in advance their terrasse was already booked up so I went with a table inside. Our server Alec was exceptional, not only from the traditional point of view of being a professional with quick and friendly service but also going an extra mile to take pictures of us, 7 girls with very specific instructions LOL. Their steaks are amazing and they have enough vegetarian options to also satisfy non-meat-eating appetites in the group. Appetizers are really unique and flavorful. The drinks are nice & boozy unlike other places that charge you the same prices but put half a shot of alcohol and fill the glass with ice until it overflows. Vegetarian options: For a steakhouse they have great vegetarian options.

It s located in unique and vibrant Old Montreal. They offer dry-aged meats. The 45 days aged rib steak was awesome, rich flavor, tender and marbled. We were there at 9:30pm, didn t want to eat two much, but we didn t think the 20oz rib steak was enough for three of us lol, so delicious. The goat cheese was amazing, rich, smooth and creamy. The flank steak was so so, a bit dry.

We have already been able to enjoy a beautiful summer evening on the terrace twice - it was great! Very good food (once salmon and the other time the steak) and nice and attentive service!

Came to the place with great expectations but left knowing there is much better places where to spend my money. I got an avocado bread breakfast that comes with salad and it came with one tomato even if in the menu the dried tomates are pretty well emphasized. The bread was way too small, the vinaigrette had no particular taste. I asked for a side order of Bénédictin sauce for my pocket eggs and I found the sauce mediocre, almost tasteless and it costed me 4$. I might come back for a coffee to enjoy the beautiful view of old port on their terrace. Won t be expending more than 10$.
