If I could give zero, sadly I would. Chicken was RUBBER and looked uncooked. The taste wasnt very reassuring. Was pretty expensive for the poor excuse of a meal it was.

Terrible chicken, this spot used to be good but now its terrible. The chicken itself is so bad and the fried chicken batter is disgusting. There must have been a change in management because the chicken here is nothing like it used to be.

The reason for the serious downgrade is that, once again, the ordering system at this restaurant has cheated me. I placed an order for delivery, the transaction appears in my credit card account, but there is no notification either by email or text that it will be delivered. Too bad. The food is really good, but the restaurant doesnt seem to mind antagonising customers. The chicken at this Olivias location is probably the best in Montreal, which is saying something. In response to the following that I wrote a while ago, the owner of the chain contacted me personally by phone to assure me a refund would be forthcoming, which did happen. I have increased the rating to 4 stars. The reason I havent gone to 5 is that although the food is wonderful and the personal touch is appreciated, I think the company needs to work on some technical weaknesses exposed by a power failure at the time of the order. I know they were caught by surprise, but that should be an opportunity to remedy the situation, which I think will be done. ORIGINAL REVIEW: However this review is about business practices, which seem to me to border on the fraudulent. Last night I ordered a delivery from this location. They happily pocketed my money, then canceled the order and didnt reverse the charge on my credit card. This hasnt been corrected as of this writing. And of course, their contact phone number is out of service, and emails have been ignored. Not a smart way to treat a customer who has ordered about a dozen times from them over the past year or so, including pickup orders. I would recommend pickup. I dont think its wise to order for delivery any more.

The chicken was very light and crunchy. Probably the best fried chicken I had; didn t leave us feeling too stuffed or unwell as you do after having some fried chicken sandwiches. It wasn t too oily or anything it was just perfect. I did take out and had it about 30 minutes later and it was still warm and crunchy.

Crispy outside, juicy inside, and amazing sauces. What more can I say? Olivias Chicken is a must every time I visit Montreal!

We love this restaurant. Comfort food, good price, and a friendly place. The japchae is delicious, the bibimbap is my favourite in the city, but *all* the food we ve had there has been consistently good since they opened. It is a fun place to take my three-year old: she frequently asks to go to Olivia s restaurant , and routinely eats half of my meal and all the kimchi. We are very fortunate to have it in our neighbourhood. Edit: Olivia s now serves only fried chicken and accompanying meals/sides, and is no longer dine-in. The chicken is delicious though!!

The chicken was tasty but I got the Olivia chicken sandwich and it said it had all these things that went in it like coleslaw and jalapeño peppers, etc.. When I got my order and went home, I opened the wrapper to the sandwich and all it was was the chicken in between buns with the sauce of choice and only a very thin slice of lettuce. I was very disappointed

Do not order from the site!! The food is excellent but if they no longer have your dish, reimbursement is not possible in store and responses to online reimbursement requests do not seem to be processed... Its a shame because the chicken is great... Update: 1 week and 2 emails later still no response... very disappointing Finally received the refund! It took a while but it was done!

We advised them we were in a hurry & needed to go to work after which they skipped out order, put it as the last order & made everybody elses order before us. Not recommended (delivery issues). I placed a large order for delivery via their website and it arrived with some items missing. The chicken itself was alright, but getting sorted for the missing items has been an exercise in futility. I usually try to order directly from restaurants when I can, but in this case I would probably recommend using ubereats or doordash since the chains customer service is basically non-existent.

I have to change my 5 star review to a 1 star. I ate Olivias chicken a lot in the last two years, before/during/after they renovated. I had some minor annoyances with the loyalty programs constantly changing but not enough to complain. I usually order in person for take out. Today, for a larger party though I had a very bad experience thats left a bad taste. I placed a larger order for a party. ...delivery went okay, but the order not so much. The salad ordered was substituted. Fine, would have preferred a chat to pick the substitution but whatever. But the other items are larger: - half the sauces missing - poutine entirely missing - half the onion rings orders missing - worst, the boxes had half the chicken they usually do. Ive ordered enough to notice this. When calling, I was told its not a big deal and partly blamed it on the fact its ordered through Uber last minute. Fine, it was last minute thats how it worked out. But the tone of care seemed misplaced, and the tone changed a lot when they found out I had previously ordered in person every two or three weeks. If you dont want to support Uber, dont offer it. But dont give me worse service on the occasion I cant come in person for pickup (rare). My initial support request to Uber was denied, thus why I called. It took several calls to get through. I simply wanted my money back on the difference and informed them Id have to do a charge back given Uber automatically denied the request unless they refunded the missing items. I was told to write in, send pictures, what a waste. The Uber support request changed to approving part of the refund after the call. Not sure if coincidence or not. Either way, not thrilled. Mistakes happen but chalking it up to using Uber when its a packaging error is insulting. Old review was 5 star: Consistently tasty

The young gentleman named Tyler who served me today was absolutely fantastic! You could see that he was rushed, but was extremely polite, considerate, and did an absolutely amazing job at giving an excellent service! He most definitely deserves a raise for how much he cares about this business, and the happiness of his clients! Truly a rare gem! Didnt even taste the food yet, but just this young mans attitude is enough to give 5 stars !

Came from Toronto, stumbled on this spot and definitely would come back!! Chicken is super juicy and perfectly crispy, and sauces are really good. It s worth the price 4 stars only because I wish there was more chicken they put into the poutine. It was delicious but could be more generous ++ if you show the receipt to the dessert place next door you get a discount

Very friendly staff and the food is really fresh. Thats why there is a bit of waiting time but thats worth it. I am editing this review to write that, Tyler is such an amazing person. This place has a following on the local Facebook group, but I was definitely underwhelmed. The chicken is a very meh. The service was polite but dumb. I was asked side I wanted. I asked what they had. Was then told the cole slaw was spoiled, and they were out of the other stuff. So they only had macaroni salad. Why ask what I wanted then if there wasn t a choice? Finally they completely underestimated the time my food would be ready. The prior customer me also had this issue. Dawa was closed for a summer holiday. I will exhibit more patience next summer.

Outstanding flavor. Crispy on the outside, chicken is so soft and moist on the inside without being greasy. Parking: Free parking on side of building. Kid-friendliness: Open atmosphere. Room for kids to move. Workers did a great job of explaining dining options. Many different sizes of meals and sauces available.

I want to say this is one of the worse places Ive ever been to. Bad enough that I had to warn others by leaving a review. For the price you pay, you can get better tasting food at KFC. Their service was horrid as well, I tried it tonight for the first time but I will defintely not be going back.

It s just awful. From what I read it seems like the experiences really vary from one person to another; from one day to another (someone edited their own review going from five stars for their first time going there to two stars from their second experience). So I guess I wasn t lucky Chicken was watery and barely cooked (I wonder if they boil their chicken before frying it?!). It s very blend, there s too much batter (which is also tasteless) so it falls everywhere and it s super messy. Doesn t come with sauce and the sides are very small. The coleslaw was I never used this word, but it was disgusting. One macaroni salad was ok and the other one wasn t. I just don t recommend it. Very sorry to leave such a negative review but I hope it can help people save their money.

I found this place out of sheer luck.firsy sunday of the pandenic and they where the only ones open around. I was quite happy to discover this delicious cripsy,meaty chicken. The fries where perfectly crispy and the perfect size. The prices are decent too. If youre reading this : go now!

The fried chicken was excellent. Service and hospitality was impeccable. It didnt start so well because it was difficult to order online. The site should be proved. It is not user friendly. We didnt want the chicken in a sauce but on the side and there wasnt enough the sauce. But they were so nice to give us extra sauce on the side. We ordered the fried chicken for 2-3 people. It was a really nice size portion. The chicken was juicy and the breading was crispy and not thick. We also ordered a side of fries. The only negative point was that the food was not hot when we got home. We only live about 10 minutes from the restaurant. But it turned out great. We will definitely go back.

I don t see what everyone is raving about yes the chicken was crispy (appart from the side that was towards the box that was completely soggy). The meat was moist (to a point where the breading was wet on the inside, it s so thick that it can be crispy and soggy!). It has an unusual flavouring for fried chicken, something like cloves or nutmeg that is a bit too overpowering. Very crispy onion rings. Will probably not order again.

I really don t understand the hype of this place. Got the combo for two.. the sides were so small and the chicken was honestly bland and not crispy. It s definitely not the worst chicken, but considering the price, was expecting something better. I guess my expectations were too high.

I am annoyed that prices have gone up for self pick ups ( non paid delivery systems)All the delivery services are causing owners to raise prices.I believe strongly one menu for pick up and one Menu for delivery services. let them pay the higher prices until then I will not be back

So i heard a little about the hype for the fried chicken. Ordered the individual bone in and a chicken sandwich, the sandwich was good not great because of no sauce, the chicken was actually crispy from the outside but the inside was very very fatty and bland. Not in the 10 best fried chicken in Montréal honestly.

We got there last night after it closed. The clerk saw us, came out and asked if we were here to order. We said sure if it wasn t too much trouble and he said to wait and he d see what he could do. It s lunch time on a Thursday. There are 3 people waiting. Only 1 person on staff. She does not know her stuff. Confused and confusing. Tried to use loyalty card but did not know how. This is on somerled. Was at the one on de maisonneuve Friday and it was worse! The staff only speak Russian. Had no clue what we were talking about. You have a good product and I know it s hard to get staff BUT. I m standing here now and there are 4 people here and no one in the front!

Great discovery for quality fried chicken. The chicken is crispy but still juicy and the breadcrumbs are well seasoned and very tasty. Although it is fried, it is not heavy or greasy. The poutine tastes excellent (the gravy sauce is one of the best I have tasted), but in terms of texture, to work with, the fries were completely soft (even as soon as they were prepared). There are several choices for dipping sauces, I highly suggest the spicy honey, it really is an incredible pairing. The refreshers are delicious and really fresh , they balance out the frying well. Be careful, its really just a counter, there is NO seating and I found it to be a bit expensive (especially the sauces). In short, I recommend it for the quality and I will return.

That s the Olivia s poutine smal size, it tastes nice with the chicken on top, though the portion is kind very small, also the sauces are a bit more expensive. All in all not a bad experience. The mozzarella was nice, the fries and gravy were very good. Giving 3 stars coz 10.5$ for small poutine is somehow overpriced.

this review is for the BONE-IN CHICKEN ONLY. I did not try their boneless or chicken wraps or sandwiches. I ordered the 3 piece combo and received two drumsticks and a thigh. Pains me to give it 2 stars because I truly like the concept of this chain and the place is clean. However...and for me its a big however....I found the batter on this chicken to be virtually tasteless. I could not pick-up any spices at all, just the taste of oil and barely any salt. Very disappointing because the chicken itself is cooked right and the inside temperature is even checked. It took 25 minutes to get my order because its cooked on order only. I dont know if its the same batter recipe for their boneless chicken in their sandwich but i would hope not! I may go back to try the sandwiches... Fries were ok and the sauces i tried were good. Louisiana (wich is like a buffalo wing sauce) and the spicy sweet is also good.

The difference in quality from two years ago to now is huge. The quality went down so much and the prices nearly doubled. The chicken was super greasy, the batter wasnt sticking to the chicken, the oil they used was old, the amount of fries they give per order went down, the service was cold. I was there to pick up my order and in the span of 3 minutes that I was there, the cashier had made mistakes in 3 separate orders, always forgetting something. How is it, that I order a family combo, which includes like 15 pieces of chicken, that I cant get a mix of white and dark meat? Makes absolutely no sense. And how do you justify charging over $100 for that? Overall a sad fall from grace for this restaurant. I used to really love it.

Fantastic chicken joint! I had the individual meal with a lime refresher and spicy honey dip + honey mustard dip, they were to die for and the chicken batter was light and crispy. The refresher was tasty and the fries were decent enough, I generally dont eat much of fries anyways, I sat on the patio adjacent to this place and enjoyed this food!

Really a great discovery! The fried chicken is good, juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside and fresh to order. Although it is fried, it is not heavy at all. The sauces are really good, especially sweet & spicy! Very refreshing lime refresher! We will return there for sure

Do not order this delivery!!! I think if you go to the restaurant it might be great but delivery no way. Everything was mushy, it was an incredibly small portion for 43$ and the service fee is outrageous!!!! Definitely dont bother with delivery. Olivias was my go to before all these other spots opened I remember telling her not to change even if she got bigger a year ago and she told me not to worry.. Giving 2* makes me sad but how can you guys take the dipped chicken options out when that s literally what made you so popular. Yesterday I drove there to save me from uber fees and tips to order bone in for two and boneless for two. The 4 sauces I had to buy extra cost me 14$ And final price was 82$!!! Thats no sides or drinks .. Bone in chicken was wayyy too greasy and bland. Either bring back dipped option or season the chicken.

The fries to me are excellent, big crunchy fries. The sauce is good too, and when eaten on the spot, the chicken is quite crunchy. Only take out available, no tables for indoor eating, but right outside if the weather permits, there are chairs and tables.

Cant phone in orders. Told to order pick up online. Online is more expensive than walk up ordering, which was not given as an option. Stupid! They used to toss chicken with your preferred sauce. Worst experience ever . I order first time the food by Uber and didnt received all the item and for the quality of the food not worth it to spend all the money.

I have order there twice already and never got disappointed. Its so delicious. Overal I have taste the sandwich, debone and boned chickens, fries and onion ring, they where all delicious. Even if the price is high, I rather get that than McDonald or KFC. Its 100 time better than KFC

My boyfriend and I ordered from there for the first time tonight. We both took a trio burger with extra sides for 60$ thinking we were gonna get something decently big... We got two burgers the size of junior chickens with the smallest piece of chicken Ive ever seen. I felt robbed lol. This feels extremely cheap to me considering the price that people pay for this. Yes the chicken is good, but if I have to pay the price if a whole chicken at maxis for it, its not worth it.

Well, just when I thought I had experienced all that fried chicken had to offer we discovered Olivias... And it was the best fried chicken I have ever tasted. What ever magic goes into the brine gives the chicken a unique flavour that goes beyond a delicious batter. Its crispy, not greasy, super juicy and the flavour of the chicken is MIND-BLOWING. If I could give some feedback, the wait time for the chicken was long. Im talking 30 minutes. So order ahead and pick it up. It was worth the wait. Also the fries are a little usual, but they compliment the chicken well. Cant wait to go back and try a sandwich! Congrats on this delicious chicken!

Wish this was a review of their food, but instead its a review of their service. Wanted to give their food a try, but the only option for placing an order was online. For some reason or another, neither of their three services would let me complete my order. While browsing, the restaurants menu has changed and your items are no longer available. And 404 This page has crashed. While none of this is the restaurants fault, after struggling with the online orders for 30 mins across 3 platforms trying to substitute what we wanted for what, were trying to guess is available I called back to ask if I could place an order by phone due to the difficulties, the employee said I dont know how to take an order by phone. Wow. Fantastic. Thanks for the help. Lost our business because they didnt want to put in an iota of effort to help us out. Unimpressive.

I know for a fact everyone has had chicken tenders before at least one time in their life , well i never had chicken tendererssss until I visited this place lol! excellent chicken and good sides , nothing else to add definitely a good spot if youre in the neighborhood.

One word: WOW! THIS CHICKEN IS OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS. If you havent had the chicken here yet, take the time to come and pick up for you and your family because once you have a piece youll never be able to have any other fried chicken. Tender, crispy, delicious batter, not salty, filling and you can taste each piece is made with attention and care. 6/5 stars! What are you waiting for!!

My son and I ordered a small box combo and a wrap combo. It was ok. For the 2 of us, it came to around $32. Quite expensive for what we got and the fact that it was not outstanding. Also, a bit of a disappointment is the very limited selection - bone-in chicken, boneless chicken, and wraps. There is a much bigger selection of sauces! Would I go back? Probably not. Not because the food was bad. It was pretty ok. I just think that there are a lot more places with a better price value that are just as good. I guess I am just cheap.

Honestly i do not know what they do to their chicken but it is AMAZING. Get urself some fried chicken and dont forget ur fried chicken burger. Its a 10 out of 10

I have ordered here quite a few times , infact i myself a chef found it amazing, but Saturday 20th 2021 . Was a very big disappointment, even the one star that i gave is too much,! The chicken crust was full of oil, ! It actually stayed on the back of my throat after i had one piece, And thats all i can eat is one piece, that the first time i ever threw something in the garbage, It s sad because Tony the owner has the key to success, but his cooks that day were cooking in very dirty oil. I m sad to write this , but maybe it s going to open their eyes. SAD DAY FOR OLIVIA s AUTHENTIC CHICKEN and for my invited guest. As the saying goes ! A happy customer will tell ten people and an unhappy custome will go out of his way and tell 100 people. As for me I m pretty sure I ll still have this oil stuck in the back of my throat for a while! We ve been loyal clients for some time, just finished our meal. The taste is still great, but the size of the portions is much smaller then it used to be, the box used to be full of chicken, now it s full of fries with 3 small pieces of chicken. I guess, instead of raising the price by a couple of $, these guys decided to go another way by making it look the same and replacing chicken with fries. Another thing that makes no sense, now they refuse to take an order over the phone (with the credit card), you have to come, wait in line to place an order, then wait outside in the cold for 30 minutes to pick it up. This is supposed to be a fast-food place with great value for your $, I guess not anymore.

Very average chicken and quite small portions. $16 for 1 drumstick + 1 thigh + fries ?? Their menu is a little misleading, it says meal for one without mentioning the amount of chicken pieces In addition to that, the thigh was undercooked and I did not like their seasoning.

Prices went up since the Pandemic but the chicken was tender unlike most places. This place put NDG back on the map as did Mon Ami :) Sadly, its only a take out restaurant. Order ahead of time to avoid waiting more than 30 min because every order is fresh!

Well I must say the owner did us right, and called to apologize and offered a meal to try again. We were not disappointed this time! What a disappointment! Paid $42 for a boneless chicken for 2 , a coleslaw and 2 sauces. First it wasn t a 16 oz coleslaw, more like 2 ounces and it was $5.25? Sauces are ordinary and they charge an extra $2.50 a pop for the privilege. The chicken if people are raving about this chicken they must be comparing to KFC. I can t put my finger (lickin not good) on it but it is processed, like not actual chicken. Way better Korean fried chicken options in NDG that are not a rip off. Don t even try to call and complain, they don t answer the phone.

If you taste Olivias crispy chicken sandwich, I beleive you would never go anywhere else. It was the most delicious checken ever.

Gotta figure out the sides situation. Why can t I get a salad as a side with my combo? The cost for the salads is absolutely insane and feels like a total rip off. Should be addressed. Otherwise, the chicken is worth it.

The chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy. The outer layer was crispy, as it should be. Finger licking delicious dipping sauces. Fries were crispy on the outside; fluffy on the inside. 100% worth the 25min wait. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Definitely will be going back! purr
