Cuisine Coreenne Korean food
The staff were super friendly. They explain the menu items and their spice level, so we could choose the right item. The food was in good portions and tasted great. Most menu items have a vegetarian option that is made with tofu instead of meat. Various options are available. I strongly recommend their spicy pork bibimbap!
Absolutely delicious, piping hot korean food served in dolsot stone bowls. This is some of the best Korean food I've had, and perfect for a chilly winter night or as a patio spot in the summer. My partner and I go here often, I'd recommend asking for chili sauce on the side to give your dish an extra bit of kick. We both eat vegetarian, but I've brought meat eating friends who love De Chou's food, especially the beef options.
We loved our experience! Such a cute neighborhood spot. The bibimbaps were so delicious, with fresh, quality ingredients! We had the tofu and beef ones. The miso soup was also very good - comes with the bibimbap (a very nice inclusion). Nice music and relaxing environment. The gentleman was very kind, his food and service were excellent. We’ll be back. Thank you!
Amazing authentic food made, cozy and eclectic restaurant, and a stand alone chef. This amazing man serves and cooks all by himself. A little slow, but most definitely worth the weight. So many little knickknacks to look at and mouth watering flavours to eat on a cold or a hot day.
We live just a few minutes away and decided to come here on a whim based on ratings and a craving for some warm comforting food - and it didn’t disappoint!! The ambience inside was so cute with lights and plants decorating the windows. My fiancé got tofu dosirak and I got the seafood udon bibimbap and they were both to die for!! Not too salty or spicy, well balanced and delicious. The service was great too and reasonable prices! We will definitely go back.
Love this place! Family favourite neighborhood Korean. Have dined here many times and ordered takeout often too. The food never disappoints, efficiently and expertly prepared by the chef-owner who seems to mostly work and serve alone. I particularly love the spicy pork dosirak, although everything is excellent. Quiet, cozy and intimate space, ideal for 2-4 people who wish to converse. Great outdoor space in the summer also.
Cannot fault this place! Everything is just that good. In love with the broccoli from the veg bibimbap. It has become our go-to for Korean food. We usually have the Tofu bibimbap, sundubu jjigae, dumplings or spring rolls.
It was my 1st time here and I really enjoyed the food, the ambience and the service. They have one of the best General chicken Taos I've ever had. The chicken was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside and just tasted amazing. I got the vegetarian dumplings as well which were quite flavorful and light. For the main course I got the Sundubu jjigae and it came with rice on the side, it was quite filling and tasty. You have to prepare yourself for this one if you can't handle spice. Overall the food was amazing and will definitely be coming back for the General Tao!
Delicious Korean food, great ambiance and location, cozy and friendly with great service and pricing. Will definitely come back here.
One of the best Korean restaurants in town.
For the first time we tried it and it was great! Very good flavor!
Parking: Authentic family run Korean restaurant. The food was excellent, the service was also great. It is a small and quiet restaurant. Lovely owner / chef. NDG parking can be a challenge, but WORTH IT!! Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp up the steps and all one level
Amazing I loved it
Amazing place. You have to try it.
Incredible food, thank you
Chill and cozy atmosphere, the food is super good and the staff are really nice! I highly recommended!
LOVE the bathroom
Best Korean food!!!
Good gluten free options, excellent flavor and service. Cozy atmosphere.
Excellent food, wonderful service and a very cozy atmosphere. Could not have asked for more.
Only ticking off one star for the good because it seemed like the appetizers werent made in the restaurant. Otherwise very warm and friendly service and great portions. Very much recommend the seafood pajeon and the staple bibimbap.
I have never been disappointed eating here! Always a good choice.
We came back for the 3rd time today. Authentic, fresh and excellent quality food. We had the ttaekbokki as a starter. We love dansak. The Yuzu cheesecake was a perfect end to our meal. Good price.
Cant believe I had not reviewed this awesome place yet. An absolute delight. Everythings good, just go already.
Delicious. I chose a nice plate with rice and beef. Accompanied by unlimited tea!
Tiny, cute and tasty! A real treat of a place
Love the bibimbap here, perfect combination of flavors. For me they nail an absolute crucial part of the dish; the bowl is scalding hot. This lets the rice get crispy little edges if you let it sit for a moment, and a quick stir of the egg mixes it in and cooks it to perfection. I also love supporting a local restaurant thats just around the corner. Did I say perfect enough? :)
Delicious food, great ambiance and service. Lots of veggie options, and will definitely be back to try more!
This was my second visit and I wasn t disappointed! Great food, ambience, and service! The portions are plentiful- worth every penny!!!
Great place thanks
Its our local quaint little spot in NDG. Anyways get the bibimbap .. piping hot and delicious .. but everything is good. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Food
Excellent food , full of flavor and excellent hospitality. Very recommended, I always enjoy my experience there, thank you
Great food. The owner was really nice and really hustled most of the night alone and yet still managed to make each dish properly and in good time. Definitely recommend!
Great food, I love it
Weve been there three times now and its still perfect. The gentleman manages the kitchen like a pro, it is only him who serves and cooks. Very serene atmosphere
Cosy spot with a terasse, feels intimate with relaxes music. The food was great, big portion (ordered the dolsot bibimbap and dolsot udon) comes in a hot bowl with the food still sizzling + miso broth. Service was fast and it was very to let us order even tho we show up at close! Ps: please don t start showing up 5min before close just because I said this.
The Korean barbecue short ribs and bibimbap were great! A cute little gem in NDG!
Great food, nice ambience, and Decor and the food is reasonably priced.
Very good meal!
Bibimbap very delicious A bit more expensive than other Korean restaurants but worth it Food
Cute and tiny 8 table Korean restaurant. Dim lights and soft music. Great place for a date. Restaurant is run and serviced by one person. Menu is tricky to understand for non Koreans or newbies - it took some explanation. All plates are prepared fresh upon order. Tasty
I tried De Chou for the first time tonight and i couldnt have better things to say! amazing food, great service and a cozy atmosphere. this is definitely my new local NDG spot!
Always a great meal and experience here!
One of the best or the best Korean restaurant in Montreal. Small restaurant but the taste is excellent and youll be well taken care here. Bibimbap and sundubu jigae are top notch!
We had our lunch special @9.99 on weekdays many times (including today). Service was prompt and friendly and the food was delicious. Place was clean and they always check for vaccine passport as well as contact tracing. Highly recommend.
We ordered bibimpap and chicken katsu; they were both delicious, tasty and well prepared. Both came with miso soup, which had a much better taste than mine. I will definitely recommend this place.
A nice local Korean spot in NDG.
Good service and delicious
best dolsot bibimbab ever. nice vibe, fresh ingredients.
This is the best dolsot Ive had in Montréal. Super nice ambiance and service.
Food was amazing, I suggest the Korean barbecue for 2. The restaurant is very nice and small, has a great at atmosphere.
Cozy and amazing food!
Best and coziest restaurent in NDG possibly MTL !!! Amazing place to dine alone or in company. Always soft amazing music playing in the background and the decor is so cute !! WOULD RECOMMEND
AMAZING! amazing food in this tiny unexpecting place. (up is pork, down is tofu) PLUS we dropped our beer and he replaced it, we didnt ask for it!
The worst restaurant ever I was sick for 5 days after eating thier bad food This is very badddd
Great place. Friendly folks serving good food.
We had a lunch yesterday, Good Friday, at window side. The restaurant changed interior, and the Bibim-bob was delicious. I took the leftover in a small pack and ate for evening meal. The dish was served with separate hot source. It is friendly approach as each customer has different taste. Thanks to the owner (Kim).
I was there yesterday with family and friends to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. It was a busy evening for a small place. The owner was working alone to take orders in person & takeouts, cook, serve and clean. It was impressive to see how fast & efficient he works. My sister tried their ginger tea: perfect. And the food was delightful. I am proud of local business like this one. Bravo!
Attentive service and a delicious meal. I really like the jaeyok bibimbap.
Montreal has more and more excellent Korean restos, but Chou is my favorite. The food is incredible. The quality is super consistent. Amazing bibimbap, dumplings, fried chicken, miso soup, noodles. Succulent and generous portions. Brought my friend from New York who is Korean and she said its better than any Korean food you can get in NYC! Love sitting on the terrace with the smooth jazz the owner always plays. Hes always gracious and polite, and recently told my wife and I that he and his wife had a baby, which makes me even happier to eat there. Perfect for eat-in, take-out, or delivery.
I was there two days ago for dinner. The food was very good and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They have a variety of choices. The menu offered many vegetarian options and many meat options.
Delicious !
We ate there for the first time tonight. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The owner worked alone , taking our order and cooking the meal. All of 5 meals arrived piping hot at the same time, quite a feat. It is a small resto but super cute and cozy. We will definitely be going back!
Favourite place in NDG!! Food is so delicious and owner is really sweet! Love this spot
Excellent. I dont have any pics because we devoured the food super fast. 10/10, everything was great and warm and tasty. Highly recommended, dont hesitate, just gooo
We got the Korean BBQ for 2 with grilled chicken bulbogi ( sorry If I misspelled that) With miso soup. Love the ambiance and customer service was great! Definitely coming back, very delicious!
Chef special is really special!
Very very liked it. Thanks a lot. We had chefs special and dosirak Kid-friendliness: Have plastic plates and cups
For the past year, De Chou has been my go to Korean restaurant in NDG. The owner is a one-man show: he greets, takes orders, cooks, and serves. I am addicted to their beef Cupbap which is a delicious to-go, pocket-friendly dish. They also serve excellent dumplings and spring rolls. Never disappoints!
Delicious Korea food with great flavors . Excellent service and great j homemade food.
GREAT experience at de chou! Be patient when ordering or waiting for the waiter. He is the only one working! The food is incredible, highly recommended the bbq for 2 :) Je me souviens
Coming from TO, I don t feel like there are many good Korean restaurants in Montreal. De Chou was amazing on every level. The food was DELISH, super tasty and really well made. It was also a one-man show. The man working there, who I m assuming is the owner, cooked and served us all by himself! Service was super quick and efficient too. Way better food and service than most restaurants that are fully staffed. Kudos to this place, I definitely recommend!!
One of the best Korean restaurants in Montreal. With a friendly owner, delicious food and cosy ambiance.
Delicious and very nice decor and it is wrong to say that the chef does not speak English and he even says words in French. Anyway, I go there to eat, not to talk!
This is such a gem in NDG - the owner was super nice and the interior is cosy. The food is really good, would highly recommend and will definitely be going back!
Amazing service, and great food i will definitely come back! Vegetarian options: Greate selection!
Amaaaaazing Chicken Katsu! :)
First of all the staff is very arrogant and the taste of food is below then average.
Happened to be in the mood for Bibimbap. Found this place by mistake. I m glad I did because it was very authentic
Quality family owned restaurant. Very tasty food and lots of nice plants on the patio. Very inviting
Very good little Korean restaurant we had 2 Korean spicy fried chicken, dumplings, rice and mochi and a Korean dessert we enjoyed it, the chef is also very nice we got it for $40 for two it was Perfect Well come back...
Charming owners, family friendly, good food and ambiance.
Amazing food and a very pleasant service!
Excellent Korean food. Seafood pajeon was delicious. Shared the meal for 2: beef short ribs, bibimbap, miso soups and salad. Will definitely go back!
Had a great meal here, food was quick and so so excellent, we had the dumplings for appetizer and the udon and fried chicken cutlet for mains and both were amazing. Both meals came with miso which was top quality. Will definitely be back!!!
Excellent
My wife and I were so surprised at this gem of a neighborhood restaurant. The service was very fast and the food was great. I ordered the spicy pork Bibimbap. There were plenty of veggies and pork. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Great food, the bibimbap was delicious! Service was perfect.
Best Korean food!
Only had the bibimbap, twice. Consistently fantastic. Great spot.
The food is really good and great service
If you want an American version of what Korean food is supposed to be, then this is the place for you. Seafood pancake has no kimchi. Bibimbap has no kimchi. Hot sauce is sweeter than spicy. Pancake sauce tastes like it is past due. The actual kimchi that was served to us was 4 small pieces of cabbage with 2 chunks of pear/rotten radish? Total waste of money and time. There are better Korean restaurants down the street from this place.
Great food, great people. Thank you
The soondubu i ordered on doordash used hard tofu instead of soft tofu. What???????
Had the ramen soup, one of the best. Must try
Cozy and quaint. Superb food, definitely reccomend and I will definitely go back.
Excellent service, mouth watering food! Great resto ambience.
Lovely owner. Delicious food and pleasant environment. We even brought our kids and were fully accommodated with our complicated picky eater requests. Highly recommend! Bimbimbob bowls are amazing!
Order through ubereats. Ive picked 5 different main courses and two appetizers. The food tasted average which wasnt the biggest problem. The main issue I had was receiving a burnt seafood pancake.
Amazing food & atmosphere! Ordered the chicken katsu and will be going back for more. The place is run by the owner himself and he provided amazing service :)
Delicious food
Fantastic refined Korean cuisine. We loved it and we will be back!
I have always been amazed by the different plates from this restaurant. The owner is really kind and you can feel that he put his heart in your meals/his restaurant. The food is healthy, the ingredients are of high quality and the presentation is beautifull. Also the place itself is nicely decorated, nice relaxing music and there is a terrace. I cant wait to go back again :) Thank you sir, I love what you cook!!! Ps: I just tasted your daiyaki, what a dream!!!
Really good bulgogi bibimbap. Generous with beef portion and really balanced bowl. Only strange thing is you have to pay extra for the sauce that comes with it. I usually just make my own then.
Ordered the Dosirak - Katsu with porc, and was disappointed. It was advertised with dumplings and a salad, but all I got was cubed potatoes (that were still partially frozen) and just lettuce with nothing else (no dressing either). Soup was only a third filled in the container (although what little I had did taste good), and the porc was pretty decent as well but overall was not what I was expecting. Not worth the money.
Amazing quality food. Every dish feels carefully prepared and the chef is very friendly and knows his dishes well. Try the general tao and the spicy pork bibimbap.
Delicious, even as takeout, the bimbimbap was super fresh! Very tasty. Plus, the customer service is top notch . I highly recommend
Delicious smoky fresh bulgogi bibimbap!!! The service is lovely too!
Delicious!!!!!!!!!
absolutely delicious! we ordered some food the other night and everything was AMAZING. the portions were very big too! cant wait to go dine in person there one day!
Really tasty food with generous portions! The broth of the soups was amazing. Had a lot of disappointing take-out experiences lately so this was a really great surprise
Excellent service. The food was delicious, the ambiance is lovely and relaxing. I dont want to say too much lest theres an influx of customers...hehehe....
It is realy goos resturant. Calm . I like the food.
Looked unassuming from the outside, but pretty pleased with our experience overall. The tofu bibimbap was good. Service was quick enough. There are only five tables and the restaurant is cozy. Tea and ice cream were included and were a nice touch.
I usually do not mind small shabby resto with questionable hygiene as long as food tastes good. Unfortunately not the case...terrible seafood pancake (soggy, not crisp and bland) for 18$... So so beef bimpbipbap with flavourless beef....im used to marinated beef.
Great little unpretentious Korean! Best bibimbap in Montreal.
oH my God this place is heaven. Theyve been feeding me for the last 3 months and honestly I keep it as my secret but I havent been to the grocery store in months lol
Okay the food is decent and the prices are exorbitant although I live close to there I went once and will never go back
Been serving tasty and affordable bento for years now.
Not authentic korean food for asian but its still ok
Fully licensed very small Korean style restaurant.
They just completely renovated the place. Now its open style with the kitchen and theyve opened up the entire dining room, the light comes in so much better with the plants that they removed, you can spread out at the table and see people pass by, its much better and already I came 3 days wide week Im going to start coming 4 ft 5 The food is amazing and the owner is a great chef and amazing person
I liked the bibimbap because it had more ingredients and meat than rice, and the sauce was really delicious!! I ordered seafood udon, and it tastes like kalguksu (noodles), which is cooler than udon and good to eat when its raining. > Even with green tea ice cream for dessert - I think Ill come here often to eat bibimbap.
lol
Very good restaurant that deserves to be known. Original in the menu choices. Korean traditional. Very nice chef who cooks in a space open to the room. Limited in the choice of desserts, but thats not really what you expect from a restaurant of this type. I recommend.
Amazing food!! Excellent service!! Definitely recommend to everyone !
Just had a great Udon Soup with tofu... delicious! New owner who likes to talk and explain how he cooks his food. Beautiful renovations... a must in NDG!
Great food. Went there on a last minute date night and it was great. 100% will go again.
Really good place, food was great, perfect for dates. Great experience
Excellent food and service.
Always fresh and tasty for lunch, the attention to details is great.
I like this restaurant. New owner is very kind . Amazing food. I wanna visit it again.
Loved the great food and the atmosphere. Will definitely be back soon
Incredibly good and very good service!
Not exactly what I expected but the food was just delicious, perfectly seasoned and prepared with care. The price is slightly on the higher side.
Beautiful place with delicious food, more worth it to go for lunchtime but either way its always my go-to to show my friends.
The place, very cozy and quiet. We went to eat and ordered bibimbap. The bibimbap menu consists of miso soup, bibimbap and a scoop of pistachio ice cream for dessert, all accompanied by tea. It was delicious. The friendly, agile and attentive service and the generous food. Without a doubt, a place that I would recommend to anyone who visits Montreal and wants to eat calmly and enjoy the flavors.
Nice little Correan restaurant. Great food. Easy on the wallet. Great attentive staff. Cute decore, relaxing atmosphere.
Nice and good tasty Korean food you can experience~^^
Lovely little family-run restaurant with scrumptious food. A hidden gem.
Love it!
Nice little Corean restaurent. Great food. You should try.
I share the same experience as Julie below.. The food is excellent but more expensive than downtown. The employees speak a little English and no French at all. They will have to make the effort to learn the official language of the province.
Great discovery in the west of the island, thanks to the detours and traffic jams of the city of Montreal! We were hungry and needed to find somewhere quickly and we came across this tiny restaurant. A few tables and only one employee, its minimalist and we had the impression of eating at the table of a slightly disordered kitchen. I won t comment on the tiny toilet that s an adventure in itself! Back to the equally simple menu, the choices are limited, but the waiter/cook carefully prepares his homemade recipes and presents everything to us with great attention. Our plates were as beautiful as they were tasty and when you realize the price per portion, it s a bargain! As I risk being stuck in traffic for a few more years...decades in Montreal, I know that I will have the opportunity to return.
Nice little restaurant, absolutely delicious Bibimbap!
Nice casual Asian spot
Very good Korean restaurant, quite intimate and simple (around twenty place settings maximum). The food is delicious and quite plentiful and the setting is really very warm and cute (with a bit of an urban Asian feel). The owner (who is also the restaurants only cook and waitress) is very friendly. Afterwards, due to the fact that she is all alone, the wait is sometimes a little long; The prices charged are also a little high for my taste. Bonus: a complimentary pot of jasmine tea and a scoop of pistachio ice cream at the end of the meal (no other dessert, that said).
Very nice discovery. Nice little, very intimate restaurant. Very nice decoration. Impeccable service. The staff very respectful and kind. Its clean and quiet. The food is excellent and the service is fast. A good selection of Japanese and Korean drinks. I highly recommend.
Delicious food!
Food is great, service is good and adequate. Unfortunately, it is located in a basement. So no outdoor view or terrace.
Good place for a quick meal.
Great green tea ice cream. Try the korean bbq
Excellent bibimbap! Modest decor. 10 seats. The waiter and cook speaks neither French nor English! $3 more expensive than the same dish downtown.
Very good!
The food was delicious, the service quick, the setting was relaxing. I had the bibimbap and loved it. My only complaint was that the beer was a little pricey. The place in general isnt the cheapest, but you get your moneys worth.
Amazing Korean dishes. We all Loved it
Very cozy resto with good food
Good, healthy Corean food. Friendly, pleasant, rustic decor. Sometimes too busy for their own good and orders may be delayed. Ownership changed recently (2015), still very good. Unconventional hours; open for lunch and dinner, closed in the afternoon, closed on Sundays.
Good, basic Korean food. Extremely expensive for what you get.
Very good food. However, a little too expensive for the portion you are getting. Especially for supper time.
Lots of atmosphere, good quick service and a typical Korean menu. Fresh ingredients, filtered water and ice cream at the end.
Very nice
Fantastic local restaurant with a slight hint of Je ne sais quoi. You wouldnt expect it here. Try the general Tao bento box with a Sapporo beer. Then head next door for a great latte.
Great little place. Must try. I had the bentonite box and it was so light and tasty. All components were tasty. Nice little find. Cozy little terrasse as well. Only down side was the noiseless really (which the owners cant control cause its a busy street). But in terms of the food, speed and service, otherwise would be a 5 for me.
Amazing atmosphere and good portions of authentic food
Love this place! Good food, atmosphere, prices, service. Great place to have a good dinner in the summer on the patio overlooking the park.
Great service. Delicious food. Nice quaint and quiet atmosphere.
