Great vibe, good food, good service. Always a favourite.

Always good but $17 for a small salad of greens, wanting to accompany a tartare served only with won ton chips?!? I was a little surprised when paying.

Good high-end dinner at the bar in front of the screen for the Canadian game. We are offered a limoncello when we bring the bill. Very nice attention. The owner was on site the 4 times we dined at this restaurant. We feel a special atmosphere. Well come back.

Last Saturday (December 9) I had the opportunity to discover this gem (located a stones throw from my old school) during the reunion after 25 years of a dear friend of mine. The place she chose met my expectations: warm-cozy and good food! Special mention to the chef; the chicken wings were just . Impeccable service from the waitresses! As for Angelo and his wife what can I say?! They are so welcoming and our crème brulée was beyond our expectation! Thank you for making our evening magical and memorable, we will definitely come back!

Much too expensive for what it is.

It was a great culinary experience. The oysters were just the right size. The croquette was out of this world. Le Médaillon was just melt in your mouth. Tartare was not your typical and the lobster roll shrimp was plentiful and bun was homemade & just the perfect size! And the dessert - don t get me started! A definite repeat! - Dora (aka Karen)

For the starter the fried squid was excellent. I tasted 3 things the chicken was good and the flank steak also the only problem was the tuna tartare which was sorely lacking in flavor and seasoning. The service was good but it took a long time to receive the invoice. The atmosphere was good

Always a great experience. Owner on site making sure everything is like clockwork. Caesar salad is amazing with an authentic dressing. Haven t had a bad thing on the menu. Barkeepers are skilled at making any drink. Not to be missed.

Amazing staff. They all smile. They are all available for you. Water going around every 5 to 10 minutes. The smiles and the extra steps they take really make the difference. Very hard to find a place like this these days.

I celebrated my birthday last night at Greasy Spoon and was really pleased with the atmosphere, service and food. A perfect setting for a drink on the terrace with friends or family, the staff is super smiley and makes you want to party. Thanks to the entire Greasy team

Its ok. The food is not bad, but its a bit expensive for what it is. They have a nice selection of cocktails and theu are priced ok compared to other restaurants and bars around. Beer also is fine, but I wish they had more choices in regard to microbrewery choices.

Visiting from Colorado, and we came back twice. Lovely atmosphere , the staff and owner were like family . The Goat cheese was fabulous, best Cesar salad with amazing dressing and we fell in love with the Mac n cheese!

One word AMAZING!!! I went with my mom and brother on a Wednesday night, the moment we came in we were greeted very well. Service was exceptional, our water was always filled, plates were taken as soon as we were done. The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, very polite, patient and kind. The owner, Angelo really cares about his restaurant and it shows!! He puts so much effort to make us customers feel welcome and that we re satisfied. It just makes the experience so much more fun! For the atmosphere, I loved it. The decor is so fun to look at and gives off a good vibe. The food was beyond my expectations, the mac n cheese & calamari is a must!! I had the salmon tartare, which im usually picky about but this one was very well done! My mom had the fish n chips and the batter was full of flavour! We also had the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream for dessert and holy it was delicious. In all, this resto is definitely worth it. We were pleasantly surprised. Food was decent and was served in a timely fashion, everything was clean. Menu is straightforward. What made it for me was the staff. Felt like pre-pandemic on Crescent vibes; jovial, easy, they were all approachable and super friendly. The background music switching from techno to RNB and then some other genre with varying loudness levels was a bit off-putting, we seated on the outside patio, the inside looked cool.

The atmosphere and service were excellent. However, the food was extremely disappointing. Especially when one considers the prices, the food was subpar. I ordered the Chicken Burger with fries, and my friend had the poutine. First of all, my friend had to send the poutine back because there was barely any sauce brune on his poutine. My fries were extremely dry and had a weird bite to it, while my chicken patties in the burger were also extremely dry. I had to cover my fries and chicken with sauce to counteract the dryness. The buns and toppings were tasty, but for the price I expected something much better. Everything else was nice though, and their signature greasy spoon beer was good. Our waiter was sympathetic.

Scrumptious food. Succulent calamari everything is fresh and delicious and beautiful to look at including fabulous homemade deserts. Attentive and friendly service and a great atmosphere. Wonderful outdoor terrace for summer as well.

This place has a very welcoming atmosphere, the service was very good, polite and fast. The menu has very decent options for different palates so nobody can feel left out. My food was just mouth watering. Everyone I was with cleaned off their plates. The owner is a top class gentlemen. I think this restaurant is an absolute gem, perfect for date night or a get together with friends. My only regret is that I haven t experienced the terrace yet. Parking: Can be difficult finding parking but well worth it

It wasnt my first time but I was pleasantly surprised to see that nothing had changed. The service is exceptionally efficient. The employees are courteous and attentive. The owner Antonio is friendly. The food is excellent and well prepared. There is a little background music, just enough so as not to hear the conversations but not too loud either. It is clear that I will come back when the terrace is open or maybe before! Vegetarian options: Chickpea and bean burger with arugula, goat cheese and mushrooms

I went there on a Thursday evening with a group of 10 women. Many had the Thursday special, oysters at $1/ea as a starter, we enjoyed it, they were fresh and good. The service was very good, the food good, the quantities generous. I liked the atmosphere and the music, although a little loud, but less than several other places in Montreal, so I was able to enjoy the discussions with my table neighbors. I really enjoyed my evening, I recommend it!

This has been my favourite bar since I moved to Montreal. The owner is a great host and servers are the best (for real). Try their lobster rolls, I was amazed!! Tartares and chicken burger are my faves too! For drinks, ask their special, Old Cuban, secretly crafted by Marouane and now available in the menu, you gonna love it!!

I visited Montreal for a weekend vacation. This place was a welcome surprise. All of the food was absolutely amazing. The Mac and cheese was fantastic. My grilled chicken was excellently cooked. My husband got fish and chips. He said it was the best he ever had. The waitress was extremely nice and attentive. Our food came out pretty quick. The manager also came out to talk to us. This was an awesome experience!

They gave me cold fries instead of the poutine I ordered. Also served with onions which I clarified I was allergic to. I requested pickles on the burger, which they didn t add. I do understand that last one, perhaps they didn t have any. Overall just really disappointed.

Went for drinks only. Drinks were fine. Service was horrible. 45 minutes from the time we were seated in a less than half filled place until we got our drinks. And we only got them because we had another waitress go get them.

Id like to add my voice to the well-deserved chorus of praise for Greasy Spoon (Dont be fooled by the name). I find the ambiance inside warm and welcoming in the cold weather and the spacious outdoor terrasse convivial and relaxing in the warm weather. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food Ive had there was always delicious. Last night I satisfied a craving for Fish and Chips (which fully met my expectations) and my partner had the best bavette Ive ever eaten. In my experience this fine eatery is definitely NOT a greasy spoon and easily stands up to comparison with any of the other restaurants on a street known for its concentration of highly-rated dining venues.

One of the most delectable dining spaces in Montreal .also with an awesome terrace right in the Center of Mile s End! Love the Bistro style cuisine..You can t miss out on the infamous burgers with those perfect fries and there to die for entree platter for meat lovers you have to try their lamb chops and let s not forget the yummy desserts! Superb evening, large terrace with heating elements if necessary. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. We had very good service from our waitress Masson and her colleague Jérémy. Starters of gratinated snails, fried squid and lobster medallion. Fishnchips meal. Afro/Latin house lounge music. Not too loud to hear a good conversation. Everything was perfect ! We can only recommend it.

My husband and I love coming to Greasy Spoon. We ve been coming here for years and every time we leave we are super happy! Angelo is always ready to greet us with a smile and always accommodates us. The drinks are amazing! & the food is excellent! To add, there are always new items added to the menu for more variety. We ve come so often that we ve tried almost everything on the menu and it s hard to choose only a few favourites! Some must tries are the goat cheese croquettes, the salmon, tuna and beef tartares, the bavette, AND OUR ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE THE HALF BAKED CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE!!! If you re in Montreal this restaurant is a must!

The service was superb. The food was excellent. Great atmosphere. A gem in Mile end. With all the options in this excellent neighborhood, it s hard to pick. But you won t go wrong here.

Oysters were small, and we had to separate them with fork to be able to eat. Calamari were way too greasy. Gyn&tonic was ok.

This place is perfect for any occasion . Just need a night out ? This is the place. The staff is extremely friendly , the ambiance is wonderful! either you eat indoor or outdoor with a heated terrace. . The food is delicious , the tartar , the surf n turf burger is my favourite and so much more !! Thanks Angelo (owner) for the amazing experiences we ve had with my fiancé every weekend that we ve been there. He has a refind pallet and also highly recommends it. Angelo is always present making sure things run smoothly!!

We came for the oyster promotion and to our pleasant surprise the rest of the food we ordered was really nice. The ambiance was lacking unfortunately but I think for some wine and oysters it s a nice spot to go to

Good food and an excellent service by the greek lady with a lot of humour and attention lead to a very enjoyable and happy time in this cosy place. The Italian wine Le Focaie di Rocca di Montemassi, glass by glass, was for my taste excellent. The greasy spoon salad fresh with a good sauce and the beef tartare were delicious. I would come anytime again.

2021 Cool little place on Laurier in the Mile End district. Service was pretty solid from start to finish. Many French students working here however did their best to serve us in our preferred English. Well done. Had lobster/mushroom stuffed medaglioni (giant ravioli) and lobster rolls. Very good. 2023 Still going strong. Fish n Chips, Tuna Burger, Tuna Tartar, among other delights have all been savored. Mr. Angelo and his great staff do their best to take care of you, and succeed. Check it out.

Excellent cuisine, you absolutely must try the goat cheese croquettes! A delight! The drinks are original, they can concoct cocktails on point, even if they are not on the menu. I ordered the beef tartare for the first time via Uber Eats and was very impressed. The quail egg gives it a nice touch. I look forward to trying the rest of their menu.

Great place! My partner and I went to this restaurant on a Thursday for oysters for $1, wow, meaty and very good oysters! We then ordered the starter of squid and goat croquettes, a real delight! The squid was so tender and fresh!! Delicious croquettes with spicy honey! To finish, beef tartare, mussels and fries we are completely satisfied! The salmon tartare is too chunky. Their truffle parmesan fries are only fries with parmesan cheese thats it. On their menu, it was not written whether they add real truffle, truffle salt or truffle oil. The food I ordered is way overpriced for the low quality they offer.

This review is a long time coming. Ive been coming to Greasy Spoon since my friend was a bartender there back in 2016. I have been a couple times a year since then and always found it to be a great and reliable place for great food and killer drinks. My personal favorite is their tuna tartare. My most recent visit was in December 2021 where I decided to take a date. As always, the food was amazing, but the service this time around was ABOVE AND BEYOND. I had misplaced my cellphone on my way back from the loo and when it became clear that someone had snatched and ran off with it, the owner and staff made it their mission to track the thief down and return my phone to me with zero expectation of compensation. One staffer literally ran a kilometer or two in the freezing cold and snow to return it to me! Talk about next-level service. Since they denied to be compensated for, as the staffer put it: just doing the right thing, I decided to order a couple of their nicer bottles of red and tipped them generously afterwards. Its clear that the people that work at Greasy Spoon care just as much about their patrons as they do the food/drinks they serve. Its a mile-end/plateau staple and I will definitely be returning soon.

Went with a friend for dinner on a Thursday. Food was delicious! Water server came on the regular which I greatly appreciated. A little loud at times with the street right on the terrasse and the music being a bit loud... but not too bothersome!

GREAT lobster roll and steak

I had my friends bachelorette party yesterday at the Greasy Spoon and let me tell you... what a night. Everything was perfect and on point. All the girls were from Ottawa and just loved everything. From the ambiance, the staff, the rustic look of the place, the musique and of course the amazing owner making sure that everybody at the table was happy. I couldnt have ask for more. Again... thank you guys for such a wonderful evening.

Tuna burger was good, accompanied by a basket of crunchy french fries. Went in the afternoon so it wasn t busy, I guess it gets busier by late evening hours. Service was good by friendly staff.

I went here with my friends for oysters festival. In addition to the oyster we also ordered lobster roll and fish chips. The oysters are so thin and small. I can only taste salty water. The lobster roll is amazing and the lobster is compact. Fish chips is so so. The price is too high for me and the dish is served slowly.

Love this place. We go often. Great innovative food choices with friendly staff and Angelo the owner makes everyone feel welcomed! Highly recommend it! Make sure to have the tartars!!

First time here about 1 month ago. I must say a gem. Angelo really give attention to his clients and everything they served us was yummy yummy. Starting with the fish soup, then artichoke dip, calamari and let not forget the oysters. As for our main dish everyone took different plates and we shared for tasting and left our pallet wanting more. Keep doing what your doing and don t change anything.

Always a warm welcome at Greasy spoon, excellent ambiance, great service and the food never disappoints. The heated terrace extends the outdoor dining season into fall which is a bonus . Don t leave without trying the goat cheese balls and the half baked cookie

Great atmosphere with warm lighting & friendly service from all the staff & owner. Waitress went out of her way to breakdown the menu & offer suggestions. Tuna burger was delicious with substitute of lettuce for the bun. Fish & chips was a generous portion cooked perfectly with a light breading. Wine by the glass was great pricing for todays market

Wasnt fond of the chairs they had. But otherwise a nicely decorated establishment, my favourite is the big spoon on the wall. Prices are a bit high given the casual atmosphere. Service was fantastic. I tried the mac and cheese which happens to be one of my favourite dishes. I am a freak for garlic so I loved how much of it this dish had, but anyone with less of a tolerance for it would be revolted. It was a small dish for $16 but the presentation and taste was great. The menu could definitely be larger.
