Excellent dinner experience, we started the evening with a platter of assorted charcuterie, that really got our appetite going. For the main, we took the flank steak and duck, both dishes were tender and very flavorful. We ended the night with a creme brulee, which was big enough to share for 2! Last but certainly not the least, was the service. Our server did a phenomenal job taking care of us. He was attentive, friendly, and a professional. Will definitely come back!
Had one of the best breakfast sandwiches in a long time. Sausage was tasty and just enough spicy. The brioche was crunchy and fresh, every ingredient was great.
The creme brulee & crafted churro with artisan caramel chocolate sauce was a divine way to conclude a wonderful experience. The caramelized sugar crust atop the brulee was pleasing to crack and eat, and the treat below the surface: wonderful. The churro was light, and the light zip by cinnamon and sugar perfect, the caramel chocolate sauce paired well. The salmon eggs Benedict was simply stunning! The hollandaise sauce more savory than buttery sweet went well with the salmon, as did the chefs choice of bread instead of traditional english muffin: bliss! The chef stopped by our table—they handcraft their sausage, which I tasted from my wife’s dish, wonderfully dense with flavour. Be sure to order a macchiato and/or a latte, smooth—yet rich! Will return when back in town, merci!
What a hidden gem! We went for weekend brunch and were not disappointed. Beautiful, chic restaurant with professional & friendly staff. The Smoked Salmon Benedict was exceptional. Fresh, flavourful salmon paired with perfectly poached eggs and a delicious hollandaise sauce that left us craving more. On the other hand, the 1881 Breakfast was absolutely incredible. The tender meat, flavourful mashed potatoes, and a fried egg with a runny yolk created a perfect harmony of textures and tastes. This dish was truly a surprise that elevated our breakfast to another level. Hats off to the chef! To be completely honest, the pictures don’t do it justice.
This was a wonderful find! You might miss it because of the construction outside. We somehow had the place all to ourselves for a while and it was a treat. The dishes were beautifully presented and equally delicious. The duck was tender; the steak perfectly cooked and well matched with the peppercorn glaze; the chicken sandwich was juicy; and the cavatelli had umami and depth. Service was lovely too! The chef checked on us and was very kind. Definitely worth a trip!

Very elegant bistro with a rare familial atmosphere. I have tried all the dishes and I never get tired of it, they are delicious! I organized many events, it’s the best place for it and the chef is flexible on the group menu. One of my favourite place in Montreal!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Le 1881. I have been for both brunch and dinner, and I must say, the food was absolutely delicious. Gary and the staff members were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the overall dining experience very enjoyable. I highly recommend Le 1881 to anyone looking for a great meal in a cozy atmosphere. 5 stars all around!

I dont usually do reviews. But. The food is flavourful, the ingredients are fresh. In line with the MAA spirit the meals are healthy, no chemical or salty sulfite taste. Perfect salads, well seasoned tartares (without tons of mayonnaise), best fries in town... The place feels personal: the team is sweet and the chef - passionate about flavors - is always in the kitchen and often comes to exchange with the customers, to get their honest reviews and to thank them. I have eaten at this place at various occasions by now and I am pleasantly surprised with the consistency of flavors and cooking techniques. And let me tell you - the value for money thing is mind-blowing: good luck finding an alternative for that price! I highly recommend this place.

. The salads were perfect, with dressings that were full of taste without overpowering the greens or cheese. I dared to try the catch of the day-ray- and was pleasantly impressed with the subtle taste and soft texture. The lovely wife had the Cavatelli and enjoyed the last of it despite being very full. The shared chocolate dessert was superb. We couldn t have asked for a more helpful and pleasant server/bartender

As someone who takes the balance of flavors very seriously, I was immediately impressed by how the cheese didnt overpower the eggs but rather complemented them, enhancing their natural creaminess. The texture was flawless light and airy, yet substantial enough to satisfy. The cheese was evenly distributed, ensuring that each bite was a harmonious blend of savory, buttery eggs and just the right amount of rich, melted cheese. This is the mark of true expertise in the kitchen: knowing when to let each ingredient shine without stealing the spotlight. An absolute masterpiece of restraint and indulgence.
Rather excellent restaurant, food was amazing and professional service in a modern, but relaxed setting - I took a large portion each of the salmon and beef tartare as entree and main, the salmon in particular was one of the best I ve ever tasted Kids had the burger and cedar salad, and crème brûlée and chocolate mousse - they loved it I was slightly less impressed with the wines, but that might just be me, and I would have liked there to be a cheese plate for dessert

Dont pass by without seeing the 1881 restaurant, a hidden gem in the city center in the MAA sports club! Gary is a great host and the seasonal cuisine is incredible. We went there this winter last night and will be going again soon!

Arriving at the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and Chef Gary. The falafels and Tartare starters were perfectly seasoned, a real delight! For the main menu, we chose the 1881 burger and the cavatelli. One of the best burgers ever eaten, if not the best, and the homemade cavatelli were incredible. FOR dessert, we ordered the tarte Tatin, it is certainly the best tarte Tatin in Montreal. We are going back without hesitation, we are already planning our next visit.

This little restaurant is tucked away inside a fitness club. It s a cute space with great food and great service. The food is fresh and delicious. Both the chef and waiter were very friendly. Highly recommend!
Chef Gary makes sure all the food is delicious! I already tried most of the plates on the menu and I ve never been disappointed. My top recommendations are, garlic shrimps, burger 1881, oysters plate and the salads to go.
A magnificent little restaurant with finger-licking dishes, in addition to a warm welcome and service. I still havent tried a dish I didnt love and the desserts are absolutely perfect.
Really nice and refreshing new restaurant downtown (with all the closing during the pandemic). Wetter for a business lunch walking distance from the office, a good diner with friends or just a quick bite or smoothies after a workout, 1881 has it all. Chef Garys and the staffs smiles and warm welcome makes for a great atmosphere. The menu is well balanced with great food. Love the place. Give it a try!
The food here is fantastic and they have a great selection of wines and other drinks. I come here every day for smoothies and the staff always remembers my order. Everyone here is extremely kind and professional. It is also a great place to grab lunch while getting some work done. Could not recommend more.

Superb dinner spent at 1881 with friends. We ordered several starters/dishes to share, everything was excellent! The place is charming and the staff is attentive. I also went back in the morning to try the brunch and it was just as good (you absolutely have to try the wake-up coffee smoothie).
