The food and service is excellent. The prices are a little high...eg. I swapped the fries for a Caesar salad and it was $7 extra...that is on top of $30 average entrees.

The food is very good, they have service in Spanish, English and French. The only problem is that it takes them a long time to bring you the order, from then on it is a good place to have a local experience.

The food was absolutely delish!! Be careful of the offerings (sauces specifically) with meal by server as there is a charge. It was presented in a way to seemingly compliment meal but it s not!!! If it were not for that I would rate a 5, but hidden fees are not cool. Hopefully Sam you ll learn from this. As you said to me this is what I do! ! I will definitely go back again.

Its a good place to try their smoked meat sandwich. Staff was very friendly but at the end, when we wanted to pay, waitress deleted our tip and put in her own tip, saying that is the percentage that is accepted in quebec! Tip is still not mandatory and we didnt mind giving the top, but taking advantage of tourists and putting on terminal your own tip is rudness I wasnt expecting.

Reubens did not disappoint. St. Catherines is under massive construction so beware of this. The Montreal smoked meat sandwiches were awesome. The server was friendly and helpful. Make this a destination while you are there for sure!

Not our first stop, and it won t be our last either! As a note, the restaurant operates for 10 hrs, Wednesday to Saturday, 11 to 9 PM. This currently suits the owners, so manage time around that schedule!! (I wonder if they d be open to do private parties on other days, BECAUSE THE FOOD IS SO GREAT ACROSS THE BOARD!) Why is it great? It s a great place for a no-fuss meal in a restaurant that is iconic to Montreal s history. The walls are infused by business deals that have been done in it, by sports fans travelling to catch a game, by occasional or seasoned travelers hunting for great food that is fairly priced. We had the smoked meat sandwiches, carved on demand, and with three degrees of leanness, and it was neither too salty nor too peppery: a pleasure for the palate, served on rye bread, with shoestring fries (no, you won t see the chunkier fries common in Quebec friteries in that restaurant), a generous helping of vinegar-based coleslaw, and a pickle quarter. This is one of our go-to place in Montreal. Enjoy!! Wheelchair accessibility: There is an elevator that leads to the basement, but aisles might be a problem. Contact the restaurant prior to visit.

The food is mediocre. We ordered a hamburger steak and the meat is kinda dry. The baked potato wasn t soft enough. We also had the smoke meat sandwich and it was okay, the toast is soggy and could have been toasted in my opinion. The salad wasn t appealing at all. Overall, it was okay for us to fill our tummy.

Heard this was a must-try spot when stopping by but was not quite as impressed when I came. Wasn t that hungry when we came by so we just ordered the poutine and it was pretty good by itself. We also got the strawberry cheesecake as a dessert but it was way too much money for the portion we got (see picture). The service staff were also pretty rude and told us we did not pay enough when we left even though we literally left the correct amount with a $10 tip on the table. Won t be returning for dine-in.

Never going there again! My friends and I went in there today for a quick bite and from the get-go our server, Gregory A was curt and angry. Never responded to any of our greetings or thank yous. Would walk away in the middle of us speaking, barely answering questions and kept slamming our plates and cups down. Worst of all when it was time to pay, Gregory puts his own tip in, slams the Interac machine on the table and walks away, not even giving me the option to choose the amount. When my friend refused to give him a tip, he gave her the nastiest once over and said figures . Mind you, my friend is a person of color and has a beautiful accent. This made us feel his behaviour was racially motivated. Not only that, this man had the AUDACITY to loudly talk and laugh about us with his coworker. We were 10 ft away and could hear everything. Definitely never visiting this place. For the price and the tiny portions, you would really be expecting better service! Disgustingly unprofessional!

Five star service and meals. The waitress (a blonde lady), welcoming, smiling, attentive, was one of the best we have had in years. We took the opportunity to buy a piece of meat. Richard, the artisan behind this meat preparation, explained to us the long preparation process. He is an artist in the field. A big thank you to Richard and our great waitress for this experience. In short. I highly recommend this restaurant which is also the Original with the Old School atmosphere.

A timeless, no frills, classic dining institution in the heart of downtown Montreal. Staff is friendly as always, and food is fresh, tasty, and prepared quickly. Prices seem a bit higher, and opening hours seem a bit reduced, but pandemic considered, still the same, good old Reuben s Deli as years ago!

We were two adults and two kids. Arrived at 4pm ish and were seated right away. Excellent BBQ burgers and a delicious roast beef sandwich that was so juicy and flavorful Service was excellent by Jeremy. My daughter had poutine on the side instead of plain french fries and loved it. Highly recommend this place. They also have a basic kids menu covering all the normal plates. Great choice of rich desserts we were stuffed. Put it on your list. Kid-friendliness: They do have options for kids. We didnt get a menu but they read out all the options which youd expect.

What s up with the salt at this place. Almost inedible. Don t order the steak. It s a thin overcook piece of beef (despite of ordering it med rare) with so much salt on it, that I couldn t quite finish it. My friend ordered a sandwich, same thing. A salt bomb. In retrospect, we should have returned the food.

Like, wow. My family was in town for our summer vacation. Spent a week trying to write off the Montreal bucket list. Tried several smoked meat sandwiches and they were all average.. until i hit up Reubens. Anthony was our waiter and was amazing. We asked him to bring us his best item and god, did it deliver. A delicious Smoked meat sammy served with mustard in a warm bread. He literally saved my vacation. Will go back next time im in town. The food was worth the extra tip.

Every trip to Montreal ends up with at least one visit to Reuben s. I have been coming for years and it never disappoints. Huge portions. Best smoked meat. Just thinking about it makes me want to drive the five hours to get it again.

We came here by mistake but, we decided to give it a try anyway. Regretfully, the smoked meat alone was OK but, the Reuben sandwiches were underwhelming. Definitely, not to be confused with Reubens Deli & Steakhouse on 1116 Sainte-Catherine St W.

We are visiting in Montreal and wanted to sample the smoked meat! This below-level restaurant is a quiet escape off the busy Rue St Catharine. Our server was fun and we definitely loaded up on the meat. My pizza was spicier than the Jumbo Smoked meat sandwich. Super delicious!

Was in town for a concert. This place was fantastic. Of course when in MTL you must get a smoked meat sandwhich. I had the super smoked meat and it did not disappoint. Plenty of meat and fries. Very classy atmosphere and comfy seating. Waitress was very polite and friendly. We stayed for over a half hour eating and chatting here. Id definitely recommend this establishment.

We came here thinking it was a different restaurant that was 5 mins away (our mistake). The food was very sub-par and our meal was ridiculously expensive for what it was. American Style Dinner Average Experience Food: Ordered Philly Sandwich with Poutine. I wanted to give 3.5 . Didn t think it deserved 3 so I gave 4. The sandwich was difficult to eat as I worried the ingredients would fall out if I ate with a knife and fork. It lacked a powerful taste I was hoping for. The poutine is what won me over with plenty of gravy and cheese on top. Service: No red flags or problems. Very friendly and quick to serve. Atmosphere: The restaurant is downstairs from the ground floor. The lighting of the room feels like a basement and the restaurant feels like a casino from the 50/60s. The demographic of the patrons where 20 years my senior, maybe I m not their target customer. Price felt a bit steep for one person to eat. $44 including tax and tip.

Good restaurant, too bad the waitress who seemed nice forced me to give the tip she had chosen in an aggressive manner. There are ways of saying things and doing things and laws. We are regular, generous, respectful and pleasant customers. We will not come back to eat there again despite the good food. Damage. I had a dish for $21 before taxes and had to pay $35 in tips.

We had a terrible experience today. We arrived 5 minutes after the restaurant was opened, so it was very empty. We were 4, and ordered 2 sandwiches, a salad and an omelet. An hour latter we still havent been served. All the tables around us have already got their orders. We were also waiting for 30 minutes for water, that the waitress had already came by twice to say she would be bringing water soon. When our order finally came, one of our sandwiches came wrong. Food was nice, but service was very poor.

Service was fast and efficient (not overly friendly but the waiter was really busy). Food was just OK but the poutine was bland. Dingey and outdated decor, which I dont always mind, as long as food is good. Theres probably better options in the area for a smoked meat sandwich.

We stopped in for my birthday and Andrew was our waiter. We had an amazing experience with Andrew the drinks were stiff the steak done to perfection. A miscommunication gave us a Greek salad instead of a steak salad, but there was no harm done and my wife loved the Greek salad. She said it was meant to be. We heard Andrew training a newer team member and he was very informative and patient. We would highly recommend to anyone to make this a must have during a trip

As others have stated here in these reviews,the tall male waiter with white hair is extremely rude and unwelcoming. Slamming plates and cups down on table like angry at us for existing. Getting upset at other customers for not sitting at the table when he would just wave to an area. He didnt even bother to look at me or stop at table when I asked a question. I have never not tipped at a restaurant but he didnt deserve anything wish I could have it given money to the cooks. Seems like he hates his job and wont be coming back again.

The smoke meat sandwich is a great portion for two, lots of flavour and very filling. The waiter was friendly and kind. The restaurant itself was very energetic and te music was great as well.

Quite possibly the worst dining experience I ve ever had. Never have I ever had someone so rude, be my server. The middle aged man barely said hello when we walked in, and made us wait 25 minutes to even bring us menus. Keep in mind, it s about 12:30 pm and maybe 2 other tables of people in the entire restaurant; so it wasn t busy at all. Then the server brings us 2 waters when there s 4 of us. Than waits 30 minutes before coming to ask us what drinks/ food we wanted. We got the food, and it was mediocre at best. Then we ask for the bills, and 30 minutes go by so we have to ask him again for the bills, which then he brings them right away. So then the server adds a $6.00 tip onto my bill, so I changed the tip amount to zero, and he looked me in the face and said you trying to be funny? And I said nope, you earn what you keep, my friend. Then the server had the audacity to say you guys don t know how to eat out in Montreal, and that s okay I laughed and said buddy I work in the service industry and this is not how you treat people. Have a good day. And left. I recommend anyone who doesn t speak French to not eat here. Rudest service I ve ever had.

Reuben s was crowded on this night. The Canadian s had a home game, added a lively flare to the restaurant. Food was very good with just right serving size. Be careful on the onion ring order. It is definitely for sharing. Very tasty and also done just right. I would eat hear again!

Great restaurant in downtown Montreal. Excellent service and a great atmosphere. They have the best Reubens sandwich you will ever taste!!

We came here for a Montreal smoked meat sandwich, it s a downstairs diner. Service was nothing short of incredible, it s clean, good calm vibes. I highly recommend this restaurant. I had an amazing time. Food was hot and fresh, drinks were great. Thank you!!

This delicious cheesecake was worth every penny! The creamy texture and sweet flavor were amazing. It had a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, with a light and fluffy texture. The presentation was beautiful, too. Although it was a bit expensive, I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an indulgent treat.

Smoked meat sandwich with coleslaw, pickle, poutine. Split the huge meal. Was charged $2 to split it! Very surprised and was not advised about this. Staff started off unfriendly but after seeing us looking at a map was more than willing to offer suggestions. Busy place but delicious!

Waiter in a hurry to see us leave... few fries in the dishes... very expensive price... dark restaurant...
