Lively restaurant executing classic brunch/lunch & cocktails with local ingredients!
Sunny’s Dinette is a gem! The food is fresh, flavorful, and feels homemade.the portions were generous. The service was friendly and fast, with a cozy, welcoming vibe. Perfect spot for breakfast or brunch if you’re looking for something casual yet delicious. Highly recommend!
August 18th - 10am-ish Nice day in Montreal, just before the forecasted deluge that has already hit the GTA. We don’t have to wait long, however, the wait was not really worth the food in terms of quality and quantity for the price paid. I very much dislike giving good people (the owner was there and is super nice and the staff sont très gentilles) 3* reviews but just calling it how it is. The kitchen was kind enough to replace the bacon in my egg sandwich (15CAD) with avocado sans frais, and while that is appreciated, it did little to enhance the overall experience. The food came out at room temperature. I expected it to be piping hot or atleast warm. The coffee was brewed without love and tasted meh. It was also not warm. They had poured it in thermoses and that’s the way to go if you are making and refilling regularly. That was not the case here. The piripiri chicken was the worst we’ve had anywhere! The chicken was tasteless and dry, the marinade hung on the pieces, like laundry hung outside on a muggy day. The couscous was dry (no dash of citrus here). For 20 dollars, it was not worth it. Also gave my wife a headache (probably all the uncooked marinade). All in all, I made a choice and it was not the best choice. With all due respect to the original and current owners. Oh, and very pork heavy menu. Bacon and pork sausage galore. Our best regards to the owners, however. I understand that it is tough to run an eatery post-Covid with all the staff shortages.
The food here was verry delicious. There were many of us so we were able to order a variety of stuff. The service took a bit longer as it was very busy but the staff was really nice and friendly. The restaurant was clean but our baby seat was dirty and the place was a little tight.
MENU HACK: The veggie Benedict has a Parmesan/zucchini fritter as the base instead of country bread. So so so delicious! They should advertise this. Potatoes a bit bland. Salad way better. Very reasonable prices. No line on a Sunday at 1pm!
Absolutely adorable bistro!! The owner is the sweetest - delicious menu and lovely selection of cocktails and wines. We stopped in yesterday - first time in Montreal. We are heading back for brunch today!! You must stop by and try it out.
We tried this restaurant for brunch on a Sunday this summer. It was very hot outside and, despite all the open doors, also quite hot inside. The server was very friendly and attentive. There were several vegetarian options for both sweet and savoury tastes. We tried the french toast of the day (Nutella) and the pancakes. Both were a unique and unexpected experience. The pancakes were quite a bit more fluffy and sturdy than is typical. The french toast was perhaps not dipped in egg? Both were a bit dry. The portions are quite large and one dish could have sufficed both of us if we knew in advance. They sat us at the bench at the back of the restaurant, which had a lovely naturalistic view that was ideal for a calm experience.
Sunny’s comes by the name rightfully - I was greeted with the sunniest welcome when I entered. The food was incredible. The brunch casserole, a breakfast take on poutine, was packed with flavor. The Pancake was so thick, and yet still fluffy, I didn't know such a thing existed. This small adorable diner contains mountains of flavor and personality.
Restaurant was full at around 11:30am so we got seated outside. There’s no shade so it got pretty hot. My friends started with an iced coffee and it was very diluted and just tasted like milk. The waitress kindly returned it and made another one which was better. We ordered the bagel and the cauliflower dish. The bagel was good but nothing too special. The fried cauliflower dish with Brussels sprouts, halloumi and hummus was very tasty. Would recommend that dish to share. Overall good service but food was nothing special.
Really good brunch menu and nice staff!
Nice little brunch spot
At Sunny Dinette its no surprise...its good its a friendly atmosphere its worth visiting...its worth seeing its great..
Perfect place for brunch! I recommend +++ it was great! Beautiful plate
We stumbled upon this gem after not being able to go to another brunch spot. Very good pancakes and shakshuka. Would recommend!
One of the best breakfast and brunch places in Montréal. Food is tasty with quality ingredients. Staff is very friendly. Family style atmosphere. Must try in st-henri Food
Waiter was a complete douche we ordered coffee barely drank it and left we didn t want to stay any longer!
We went on a really busy day (Sunday brunch) and the staff managed to accommodate us despite the wait! The service is exemplary and the food is super good!
Came as a family at the end of our vacation for a little brunch, we really werent disappointed. Restaurant not to be missed if you pass through Montreal!!! The manager is really great, super nice and very smiling. The dishes are succulent and very well cooked. An address not to be missed!!! Thanks again!! (And have a good trip to Japan )
The lovely and ever-so-charming Emile, as she approached me with my order, saidf are you ready for the best eggs benedict of your life?! to which I replied oh yeah! She wasnt kidding. Great vibe, great food and wonderful personalities. Love the place.
If you need, the quality of the food is good, eggs were overcooked and we had to wait almost 2 hours to receive to your place. The place is not that big and it should not be that long unfortunately
The Benedict was decent, and the salad was very fresh. I hope they could have a takeout counter.
We found this little place by chance and you have to say we were pleasantly surprised! The boy who served us was really kind, 2 girls in the open kitchen preparing excellent dishes. We had brunch, both our entrees were delicious, super thumbs up! Top quality/price.
Best Brunch in the South West!
Such a cute brunch spot! The breakfast poutine was amazing
Just absolutely delicious and delightful, wonderful service from Émilie and actually the best avocado toast I ve ever had. Bravo!!!
Burnt pancakes the next time I went. Took a very long time to get food too. Pancake was not made fresh and left on the stove for an hour.
My favorite brunch spot in Sud Ouest! Always great service and food. Thanks Jay!
A lovely spot with excellent service, cute decor and prime location. Food was good, but ingredient quality was lacking. Clientele who appreciate quality and seed-oil free dining would likely be happy to pay a premium.
always consistent
Beautiful restaurant, nice atmosphere. I had the Shakshuka, delicious! The service was perfect.
Service was slow, food was disappointing for the price we paid (71 CAD$). Ok coffee but nothing special I had the Casserole and got the equivalent of half a piece of bacon and room temperature potatoes. I don t mind paying a lot, but the experience and food needs to be on top. It wasn t !
Very nice place! We came unannounced and got a table right away. The waitresses were very nice and smiling. On the other hand, the only thing that displeased us was the very long service... the restaurant was not at full capacity and we waited more than 40 minutes to receive our dishes. I would still like to mention that we received our drinks after only 5 minutes of waiting. In that direction, I hope this wait for meals was just an exception since everything else was perfect! I highly recommend, but be prepared to wait a bit before eating.
PERFECT! Absolutely nothing to say, the food was excellent and the manager was unmatchably kind! coming back soon!!!
Impeccable service, very friendly and welcoming owner, the food is appetizing and the restaurant is clean and warm. Good luck for the future!
The management at this establishment mistreats not only his employees but clients. If only the food was worth it. Food
Great breakfast!
We go often with our daughter and they are super warm and welcoming. Their bacon is superior and they make their Hollandaise Sauce from scratch! Its delicious!
My first time here, and I absolutely loved this place! The food was amazing, and the staff were so sweet and welcoming. Our waiter Sarah was so kind and kept checking in on us, and the chef Yasmine was so accommodating and helpful with questions about the food. Would definitely recommend and come back here!
Very good place for a brunch. The team is at the top. Large choice. Affordable price. Quality present.
Tasty brunch. Pleasant neighborhood atmosphere and above all, smiling and welcoming service! Were going back!!
I had the Cubano and a latte. The latte wasnt strong at all and was more milk than coffee. The sandwich was just ok. The salad had a dressing that I wasnt a fan of. It was quite small inside. The service was a bit slow as there were quite a few people inside I think.
Not worth 60$ for breakfast food , better off making your own.
Reliable brunch spot! However, it is nothing shockingly good and it is far from the best brunch in Montreal. There were lots of spots open, so definitely do not need a reservation. Eggs benedict was okay, not amazing... Overall, decent, but wont blow you out of your mind.
Delicious french toast, nice pancakes. Overall worth the price and visit
Correct quality/quantity/price ratio, no more, no less
Second time stopped here at the end of a Montreal weekend and great both times. Great atmosphere and food. Eggs Benedict (once with ham, once with salmon) excellent and ftuit plate (berries orange etc). Easy access driving back to states from old Montreal or Centre Bell.
Food was pretty good, but not everything was as described and the service was pretty bad. My sandwich had been accidentally dropped into the side soup and seemed like it was missing ingredients, and the cocktail I had was probably the worst Ive had at a restaurant. However, the food was overall pretty good.
Everything was great
Beautiful place with a pleasant atmosphere and impeccable service. Fairly ordinary food at a high price. 20% cheaper and I would go back regularly, but at this price there are much better.
Had a great brunch, fun atmosphere inside!
I like everything especially the Benedict
It is an ok brunch place. The menu does not have a lot of choices but the dishes taste good
I made a last minute reservation for a group of 15 people for lunch and the Sunnys Dinette team was able to accommodate us quickly. Communication was easy and efficient. All the guests loved the lunch and gave me nothing but good comments. A big thank you to Emilie and her team!
Very warm welcome, congratulations to the whole team for this warm atmosphere. We had brunch, the dishes were well stocked and good. I recommend
Impeccable service and warm welcome in addition to a hearty and delicious dish. Dietary restrictions: I was able to opt for a coconut milk latte.
The atmosphere here is really nice and they play great music. We were able to be seated immediately. The food was good, but the service was a bit slow and half of our meal wasnt delivered to us, but they tried to charge us for it.
Nice looking restaurant with great service! Also had a great list of local beer on tap! Hopefully we will be back soon to try them all! Thanks
Pancakes and French toast are good. Its nice inside and the staff is friendly.
Food is very good, service leaves a lot to be desired.
Fantastic café with delicious food, friendly service and good value. Highly recommend
The best pancakes!
Sunnys dinette was an adorable, clean eatery. The food was delicious and the service above and beyond friendly. Highly recommend stopping here!!
My husband and I enjoyed our brunch at this charming place. The food was great and the service was wonderful!
Love this place, seating for 30, tiny and intimate. Go for the weekend brunch and offer the smash-sausage (outstanding)
Delicious food for reasonable prices and excellent service !
Great food Nice location Good staff Enjoy Food : 5/5 |
I took the classic with sausage. There was only one small cold patty. The tomatoes tossed in parsley felt a bit old. Most of my plate was filled with potatoes and there was nothing to spread on the bread. I d go somewhere for a classic breakfast but the other dishes looked good.
Very good overall! We took the breakfast sandwich with the sausage patty, so good! but be careful the potatoes are not included in the price (we didnt know!) Its a bit pricy, 29$ for a sandwich, potatoes and espresso, but I guess thats how it is these days. Service was good also! Would definitely come back
Cute little place. The food in general is pretty simple and could be made at home. We liked it but we were not flabbergasted.
Really disappointed with the pan. A dish that finally comes without a pan and on a regular plate with potatoes, a little cheese, bacon and an egg. No bread. In short, poutine. The dish should be called Poutine Sunny. 2 stars because the coffee and latte were very good.
This place is high in demand. Only managed to squeeze in because I went solo. Menu is on the pricier side. Atmosphere is well done, fresh and airy but still maintains that Diner vibe. I opted for the pancakes and they were a treat - they were big and fluffy just how I like em. Service was nothing to complain about either.
The place is very nice, the food is outstanding, and the service is even better! Despite going during a rush when they were short a staff member, service was personal, very nice and complete. Hats off to the hard working team behind this great experience
The avocado toast is delicious! Friendly service and nice atmosphere!
Pancakes: the best pancakes I have ever had! They are fluffy but the way the chefs made it, its also has a mild crunch on the outside. The toppings and maple syrup is nothing special but the pancake texture made the dish delicious. I would come back just for the pancakes. Croiwich: croissant sandwich containing eggs, lettuce, salad and a spicy mayo. The star of the dish is the homemade peppery sausage pattie, that has a great chewy texture. 15$ for the sandwich is a bit much, given the simple toppings, but it was still good. I asked for a salad on the side of my croiwich, and the staff brought me a very small 1.5 cup of greens with 3 drops of a sour vinaigrette and charged me 7$. The salad as a side didnt exist on the menu but they didnt think of telling me about the price either. Never ask for the salad as and extra at this place. The staff and service was great, it would have been nice for the waitress to let me know that the salad was going to cost me 7$ though (since it wasnt among the extras on the menu). Again, I would come back for the pancakes.
Small restaurant but very lovely.
Except for the fact that the croissant is a bit small and I think it didnt rise well, everything else is perfect.
The worst banana bread I ve ever had. Undercooked, stale and no butter like advertised. Rest of the breakfast was not very good either.
Great atmosphere and great service. I can only give 4 stars based on the coffee. It was great. However, as a celiac, this is not a safe establishment to eat. There are no gluten free options safe from cross contamination. The staff was very knowledgeable and very kind to help me find if there was anything that would have been safe to eat, unfortunately after conversation of shared cooking surfaces I concluded to not eat any of the food. I took a chance of ordering a latte. It did not disappoint! Dietary restrictions: This establishment is not safe for those needing gluten free options or who have celiac disease.
One of the best breakfast diners in montreal, good food, the best pancakes and great staff and service. Seatings really cozy and comfortable and they always have great music, a little on the pricy side but its soooooo worth. Would highly recommend even if you dont live in the area, hell im from beaconsfield and i go a couple times a month.
Had brunch on Saturday with friends, very lovely staff and great food. Highly recommend!
Sunnys Dinette is a decent spot with fair offerings. While the food doesnt stand out as extraordinary, its not bad either. The service is commendable, and the portion sizes are satisfactory. Although it might not be a memorable experience, its a reliable choice for a decent meal with good service.
Delicious, affordable and utterly charming! Even at the end of their shifts, all the folks here are gentle, patient and warm. High quality ingredients, generous portions, its a real five star brunch
Wonderful experience eating here with kids on a busy Sunday morning The staff was so kind, really attentive and very patient with our toddler. There s even a changing table in the bathroom. I was definitely already at ease with their kindness but then the food was SO good. As a vegetarian, it s rare to be overwhelmed by options but there were too many things to choose from and that was wonderful. The two sharing plates for lunch, Brussel sprouts/cauliflower and the zucchini fritters were delicious and the sauces were very tasty and totally made the dishes. Highly recommend and can t wait to go back! Vegetarian options: Lots to choose from, less for vegan Kid-friendliness: Very accessible, nice staff, they offered us a highchair
Aesthetic, cozy, brunch, worth the weekend morning wait. Visited Sunny s Dinette on a long weekend trip from Toronto! Suggestions: Avo Toast with Poached Egg (we added some Tabasco) Soup of the Day (we got Cream of Tomato) Taste. Of. Heaven. Filter Coffee was Fresh and Flavourful. Amazing service by the team, helpful suggestions, great with English. Vegetarian options: Good Vegetarian Options, with optional Egg add ons Parking: Lots of street parking options
such a cute place, staff are so kind and fun! food was amazing and definitely a must try in mtl
Great little spot to have breakfast. Service was amazing.
Just wow
Sunny Dinette, nestled in Montreals charming southwest neighbourhood, offers a brunch experience thats a delightful fusion of good food, efficient service, and a friendly ambiance. The open kitchen concept adds a layer of excitement as you witness the chefs craft each dish with precision. The menu offers a variety of options. My selections included the Gravlax Benedict, which, while tasty, fell into the realm of the average. The Bread Pudding, reminiscent of French toast, was a comforting sweet treat. However, the star of the show was undeniably the Fried Cauliflower a dish that elevated my brunch experience to new heights. The cauliflower dish was perfectly spiced and accompanied by a medley of vegetables like Brussels sprouts along side some halloumi cheese. The hummus dressing added a layer of richness that made each bite memorable. Despite the gastronomic triumphs, Sunny Dinette does have its drawbacks. With no reservation system in place, the wait time stretched to 30-40 minutes during my visit. The relatively small size of the establishment also contributed to a slightly cramped feel. However, these inconveniences are easily overshadowed by the overall positive experience. In conclusion, Sunny Dinette earns a solid 4/5 for its ability to deliver a brunch that balances great flavors, friendly service, and a warm atmosphere. All in all, I would recommend this place for brunch in the Montreal southwest area. Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian options such as the cauliflower, French toast, avocado toast. Parking: Paid street parking. Options to use free parking if you re a customer at the grocery store or pharmacy across the restaurant
The egg was left in the heat for too long and was like rubber. The waitress didnt replace it after I asked, but when she saw I didnt eat it. For the price, Id hope for a fresher egg. Service was a bit cold and slow, coffee is good though.
Such a sweet place! Had a breakfast with friends there. The atmosphere is great, very clean and beautiful place. The food was amazing, I had pancakes, and trust me, Ive never been excited about pancakes that much! Had the best ones in my life! My friends had avocado toast, mtl bagel and croiwich - all was delicious
I live in Montreal and have been looking for a fantastic, quaint, and welcoming place where the food is exceptional. I went to Sunnys Dinette on January 15th and was quite impressed. For delicious breakfast/brunch dishes this diner is the place to go. The staff are wonderful and the place has a cozy feel.
Cute and friendly spot in St Henri. Service is very friendly and attentive. The owner makes sure that patrons are comfortable and being catered for. Waiting time was adequate, we did not have to wait long to be seated nor to be served. The menu is unpretentious and straightforward. We ordered the pancakes, Croiwich, with sides of breakfast potatoes and breakfast sausage. Overall, food is well executed but could have used a bit more seasoning across the board. The Croiwich could have been served with a side for the price charged. The pancakes were fluffy but we found that more syrup was needed. Overall, the service was the highlight of our visit. It really reflected the sunny aspect of the diner :)
Completely under the charm of this place! The service is warm and attentive, the owner is adorable and the menu makes us want to return to taste each dish. Big favorite!
A little hiddem gem! This place is a must try
The brunch casserole is
Great place with great choices for brunch! Warm service and welcome!
Two years ago, before they rebranded to Sunny s Dinette, I had a most frustrating experience with their previous brand, Le Bon Vivant. I left a bad review, which I very rarely do, and even submitted a complaint to the BBB. Since then, they completely turned the experience and vibe around, so I m editing my review to reflect it. Good job, Sunny s - keep it up! The potato casserole and Sunny cocktail were delicious (and strong!) I ll be back. Vegetarian options: They can remove ingredients to make dishes veggie Dietary restrictions: They have GF options
We came here for brunch after Halloween and were lucky to have the last beautiful day of the year on the terrasse. There was a line up but they handled it with care - giving us updates and even making space for us on the terrasse. The mimosas are very generous (one of the best perks) and the eggs Benedict were perfectly done! We all enjoyed our time there including the food & friendly staff. Also, the owner came to see us to thank us (forgot her name sorry). She was positive, welcoming and was happy to get our feedback. Definitely recommend!
Very good brunch! Beautiful atmosphere, friendly service!
Love this place! Food is so good and they always have a table.
A warm welcome, delicious homemade dishes, presented in a tempting way, what more could you want? Invite your friends to share your delight.
We enjoyed our breakfast/brunch at this lovely restaurant. Friendly service, fresh food, great ambiance!
This is the kind of neighbourhood eatery that you love to see open up, so my wife and I were keen to try it out. The room is a brilliant use of the space, and is comfortable and cozy. We were just looking for an early afternoon coffee break, so my wife ordered Chai Latte (fine), and I just had filter coffee. The filter coffee was fine, but lukewarm. I also ordered a croissant, and it was like a croissant you would buy in a six-pack from IGA. After delivering our order, the server ignored us, obviously in favour of more lucrative clients? Anyway, 3 out of 5 is the best I can offer. A diner needs to get the basics right no matter how good the fancy concoctions may be. We wont find out as we shant return.
A great discovery! We were made very welcome and everything was very good! I recommend!
Excellent ! We are French and this is our 1st time in Canada, our 2nd day to be exact. We first went to Foiegwa where we were poorly received. There was a snowstorm that day. Luckily, we saw this beautiful place not far away on Google and there was room! We were very well received: fast and friendly service, good dynamic musical atmosphere and the brunch was delicious! Go there with your eyes closed!
Service was top notch, our server was super attentive to all their tables even though the place was quite packed. Food was excellent and we didnt have to wait long. Will definitely go back!
I really liked this place everything was great very very good food
The avocado toast is delicious, the pancakes are thick and light, a real delight!
Best Montreal Bagel that Ive ever had. I did not want it to end. Also, thanks to the staff person who recommended the Pink Floyd exhibit down the street, because it was amazing.
Yogurt is overpriced for a very average and runny Greek yogurt, granola and a handful of berries
Great place! Amazing service :) Fluffy and delicious pancake :)
We were seated after waiting for twenty minutes at a communal table (high top for 6 people) where two people were already seated, when someone came in to sit with them with a dog in her arms. She sat down with the dog at the table. Completely unacceptable for a eatery. How disgusting! Walked out and wouldn t go back!
Great eggs, just perfect! The service is extremely friendly, the atmosphere so pleasant and the brunch was delicious and a good portion.
You cant get a cozier atmosphere for get together with your friends than this little restaurant/bistro on Notre-Dame. Nestled in an area of great competition like Joe Beef, Liverpool, and Papillon, it manages to rival these fine establishments in term of inventiveness and quality of food from the open kitchen just behind the bar. Will definitely go back again.
Had a wonderful time. The food and service were great. Thanks to Emily and Tyler. They made me feel at home. Thanks, Derek from New Jersey.
A delightful little diner with attractive decor. I had a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup plus smoothie of the day and it was a delicious, affordable lunch which still felt plenty indulgent. I dont usually go out in this area but Ill definitely be coming back here. I could see it becoming my go-to lunch date place.
Really cute little place! The food was delicious, as were the cocktails and coffee. It lives up to its name, with a really sunny atmosphere and friendly servers. We went for Sunday brunch around noon and didn t even have to wait! I d definitely visit again.
The server today cared about my order. The way I wanted my eggs done was tricky but they managed to do it.
This was our second visit and it was still a great one. We didn t wait long for a table and the service was great. There are two room for improvements; the coffee is not the greatest. There are many competing brunch places on the block so upping their coffee game is a must. I also received a portion of my meal after the rest was already done. It was fine but a little strange to eat when others are already finished. In any case, would return to eat here for sure!
Food was good. We were able to get a spot without a reservation, without any wait on a Sunday.
This review has nothing to do with the food but, this restaurant is absolutely disrespectful when it comes to their mindfulness of their neighbours living upstairs from their establishment. It is absolutely disrespectful to be blasting music at 11 at night, unreasonable hours. Not to mention a karaoke night + multiple people yelling and screaming downstairs. The walls are paper thin. Please have respect for people who are living around your restaurant. If your hours say that you close at 4pm on the weekends, don t blast music and be extremely disturbing to those who live around you. Please have some respect.
This place is cozy, friendly, and has great food. highly recommend the iced tea, the hummus, the grilled cheese, and/or the roast beef!
We went for brunch on Mother s Day weekend. The service was incredibly fast and the waiter was nice. However, the food was disappointing considering its location on Notre-Dame. There are a lot of better brunch places right beside. Our water tasted strange so we asked for tap water. The waiter insisted it was tap, but there was a really weird carbonated aftertaste. We ordered the shakshouka and the crabs egg Benedict. The eggs Benedict dish was cold and non enjoyable. The shakshouka was okay. But considering the price we were paying, we might as well could have gone somewhere else.
Went for brunch on Mother s Day. Dîner aesthetic is super cute, great staff but the food was very over priced and mediocre. 37$ for a thin slice of basic mushroom toast and chalky tasting latte
I decided on a late mid-week brunch and it was disappointing. The pancake was not cooked, it was 1:30 pm and not very busy but because I was on my own I was made to sit at the bar where there was a cold draft on a wooden stool. I asked to change seat and the server said won t be of any use if 4 ppl walk In, you will have to go back to that same seat at the bar. They did serve in a fashionable time though, the coffee was so acid that I took all the cream to try to make it less bitter but it didn t help. I was forgotten as soon as served without pepper/salt, butter, jam or any coffee refill. Which was only offered at billing time. The service savvy is lost in the place and food no more than any other breakfast place. So, I feel that 30$ is a bit much for what this is.
Warm welcome, very good service and great food!
Service and friendliness is way above the normal youd get elsewhere. The place is small-ish so youll likely stand in line at busy times. The food is delicious. Portions are good. Ambiance is cute. Ive been 3 times now, and will be back. Well worth the visit.
A terrible place. Bad mood since the morning. Croissants are like costco, you cant eat them, theyre like plastic. The cutlet in the sandwich is disgusting. We waited for a croissant for 30 minutes. 0 out of 10
Fantastic first experience at Sunnys! We were greeted with an inviting smile from both the owner (Emilie) and Chef (Tyler), who were more than happy to engage us in friendly conversation. The food speaks for itself - all the ingredients tasted super fresh. We had the eggs benny, which were absolutely delicious. Tylers skill in the kitchen is a perfect compliment to Emilies choices in vibe and decor. These two make a great team, and are very much worth a visit! Go for the food, but stay for the people. Thanks again, will see you soon!
Enjoyed my lunch here. Its a simple menu, not too expensive, fairly priced, and the waitresses are friendly. Theres no wow factor, but I did like my meal here. If you are alone (or 2 person), I suggest a seat at the bar in the back so you can observe the chefs at work.
This place is a DELIGHT! Lovely food. Amazing bread. And the staff is wonderful.
Good value for money and honest food. The place is cute and pleasant. I will go back there
Fantastic food! We had the eggs benedict, the Classique, and the breakfast casserole and all were delicious. The Bloody Marys are fantastic as well!
Great place, wonderful service and lovely atmosphere
In an area with many brunch spots, Sunny s still manages to stand out with its terrific presentation of classic dishes and charming staff.
Located in an area where there are many brunch options which are significant better than Sunny s. Menu is limited but there is something for all tastes. Prices are similar to most establishments in the area. Service is slow. We went around mid-morning in a weekday, it was not busy but there was only 1 person doing all the tables plus the hostess. Nice ladies but really slow to take order and to get the bill. For my order I asked to have crispy beacon but when I got it, beacon was not crispy at all. Nothing special about the food. Portions are on the smaller side. We tried 2-3 different things, none of us found it to be any better than other cheaper places. In fact, one description was that the potatoes are like Petino s. The place is small with maybe 10 tables (out of them 2-3 are communal tables) including some booths and high tables with stools. Decor is just ok. We appreciate everything was super clean. Overall there are better options close by, just keep walking.
Gréât croissantwich. Gréât service. Only thing needs improvement is their coffee. Will change the coffee comment when comment is acknowledged
Super friendly and welcoming, very nice vibe. Food is basic but done right
A small intimate dinette that holds no more than 25-30 people with a portion of that being shared tables. Its bright friendly and very inviting. The service is amazing and so welcoming even when its busy you feel like youre the only one there. The food is fantastic! Fresh, and some seasonal items are on the menu including the bread. The best part is NO GREASY POTATOES ! The portions are perfect and you feel full but not stuffed. Its got a great feel and you will want to go back for more ! I highly recommend a visit!!!
Edit: This review is for Bon Vivant which is now closed. Nothing short of perfection. The tomahawk steak is to die for. I go back to this amazing restaurant again and again.
Our favorite lunch restaurant as of now. It all started with a wonderful welcome from Émilie (who even took the time to come and chat with us and was so friendly). Then an equally friendly, courteous and efficient service to allow us to enjoy succulent dishes, prepared with care and made with local ingredients and local third wave coffee (next door ;) Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food and for the whole experience. I highly recommend this little restaurant and we cant wait to return.
I ordered an eggs benedict, the poached eggs were solid, Im talking zero runnyness. My table ordered 2 filter coffees (there is no question about this, she confirmed that my friend had milk and I had cream) then only brought 1. When we inquired about the 2nd coffee she said we didnt order 2 coffees, only 1. When she offered a refill for the coffees, we basically received ultra watered down coffee. Im talking 90% hot water, 10% coffee and didnt bring any sugar of cream/milk... We also ordered a beer that never arrived. Maybe I came on a bad day? Not sure if this is normal.
The coiwich was good. The steak and egg... Was good too but a bit small/pricy for the price of 26$. I ordered the golden milk since it sounds special but dang, I couldnt handle the taste. The beautiful hostice was very nice and changed it to something else for me. It was a hot humid day with the all doors open. I was sitting next to the wall. The vent outlet kept dripping water onto me. Thank god I had a hat on and it didnt drop on the food.
Fabulous! Pancakes were absolutely divine - light and airy, and just the right amount of sweet. Friendly helpful service and sweet little location. Highly recommend.
Please contact Chris, the ambassador!
Delicious
Avocado toast is not good at all. Barely eat half, and served wrong food
Enjoyed the lunch at Sunnys. Sara gave us some recommendations and the food was delicious. The Chef did his best to accommodate our interest as well. Hope to come back soon!
Nice sandwich (had the club) but didnt love the fries. Similar feelings around the group, some parts nice some fine, nothing bad so solid option.
Nice food, nice service, baby friendly.
My favorite place for breakfast, brunch and meetings. I go every time i get the chance even though it takes me 25 mins to get there by car i just love the ambiance and i feel like home. I also love the fact that they use all fresh ingredients from atwater market and their smoothies are just to die for would 10000% recommend. Thank you guys !
Delicious, especially the club sandwich.
Went to this restaurant during my holiday in Montréal , as soon as you coming in there s a super welcome and all the staff follow u till you are served .. after that the menu is so easy to read and u need just to wait for the delicious you have chosen . Anyhow I had my best pancake ever , huge one delicious .. so perfect .. and there s something I really appreciate , once you are in you don t want to go away , just because there s a family feeling and that s important.. told this I suggest everyone to get in and try it also to my Italian s friend do it do it
Walked in by absolute chance, looking for breakfast just before a business meeting in the area. My goodness, was I pleasantly surprised. Cute ambiance, warm and friendly service. Ordered the Avocado Toast and it was delicious, 10/10 on flavour, texture, freshness of products, topped with a poached egg cooked to perfection. Will be coming back to bring family and friends. Highly recommend
Very friendly staff and great breakfast food!
We came to Sunnys Dinette for an early afternoon brunch so, we just walked in. We were a group of six and ordered several dishes and drinks. Overall, the food was very good and straightforward; not too fancy, just well executed and portioned. The pancakes were thick yet really fluffy and well-dressed. The service was good as well.
Service was fast, didn t wait in line for the brunch.
Nothing special, portion too small for the asking price, we wont go back, thank you social networks for keeping them alive
Came here for brunch with a group of 6 on the weekend, so we were only limited to the brunch weekend menu. The food was basic, but for type of basic, prices are reasonable. Service could have been better, no doubt the staff were welcoming, but felt our table was left waiting for awhile to place our order to receive our bills. Overall something to try once.
Fantastic brunch made from only locally sourced ingredients. Staff were excellent, sous-chef Tyler was exceptionally pleasant & attentive to us. Top notch restaurant.
We had been here for brunch a few times and loved it, and decided to host a happy hour the night before our wedding. It was amazing and we were so happy with how everything turned out! The team exceeded our expectations and prepared a beautiful grazing board and other snacks. Everything looked and tasted great, and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. Our guests were so impressed and we were told many times how much they loved the place! It was really exactly what we were looking for. We are so appreciative and will absolutely host another event here when the need arises. We would highly, highly recommend Sunny s to anyone thinking about it, whether for a meal and especially for a special event. We had such an amazing time, thank you again!
We ordered pancakes and eggs Benedict. We all really liked their pancakes, but the poached eggs on the Benedict were fully cooked and not runny at all. We also asked them not to add ham to it, but they did. I asked them to bring my coffee with the food, and I received it well before the food arrived. Finally, we were there for only an hour (from when we entered the place until when we paid the bill), and there was no one waiting to be seated, but three times they asked if we were done.
Excellent service. Very welcoming and warm owner. I recommend +++
Good brunch, fair price. We waited 30 minutes in line to get in (you have to wait outside and you cant leave or youll lose your turn).
Excellent breakfast and very good service. Small neighborhood restaurant. A little expensive for lunch though.
We really enjoyed our brunch at Sunny s Dinette. The place is not very large, but it welcomes small groups. The food is very, very good. Service was excellent, fast and always with a smille. We had a great experience and will come back! Dietary restrictions: Vegan hot chocolate
It was our last min brunch location! It was fairly good, nothing out of the ordinary. The music was quite loud though
An amazing local spot! Staff are super friendly and nice. The quality of the brunch is excellent! We were in the mood of eating sweet brunch, so we ordered pancakes and French toast. Both were great! High quality dishes besides a good tasting coffee. We will definitely come back!
Very good brunch, lots of choice! We recommend the pancakes, surely among the best in Montreal!
Vegetarian options: assiettes a composer selon ses envies sur demande, ce fut mon cas, serveur très sympa Dietary restrictions: keto friendly, végétarien, sans gluten Kid-friendliness: carte adaptée
The service is the best! I didn t catch the waitress s name but she was truly incredible. The food was excellent too.
Food was good, service mediocre
Good food and impeccable service. I will certainly come back!
I am sad to say that my experience here was Horrible. The woman who served us was very rude and not helpful, judgmental and lacked professionalism! She made my friend and I feel unwelcome and like another number, another waitress later took over the partial of our service when she saw how appalling the waitresss behaviour was towards us. The food was good nothing too extraordinary, But the service here was unforgettably terrible. I would not go back nor would I recommend which is unfortunate as it is a very cute and fun brunch spot :(
Cozy cute brunch spot. Service was friendly and quick, not once did we feel rushed or being kicked out! We ordered the croiwich which was buttery and flaky, came with cheesy eggs and a thick hearty sausage patty. We also ordered the pain perdu sandwich of the day, which was an apple flavored bread with eggs and bacon. All of which was soaked in delicious maple syrup. Prices were decent and good to know you don t have to pay street parking until 1PM on Sunday s!
Truly amazing! The best brunch in the neighborhood! Believe me Im a foodie! To try
An outstanding brunch choice! Food is excellent no matter what you choose, great value $$, service is attentive. We recommend 100%!
A fresh and very delicious. The coffee was also very good
My coat burned because of a lamp in the restaurant, the owner gave me his number to resolve the situation but never gave me any news.
An average brunch place in my opinion. The food was good but nothing extraordinary. We had Le Classique, Sandwich and Pancakes. The pancakes were a bit too thick. Other than that, the restaurant is charming and the ambiance was nice with a classic American music !
I enjoyed the Classique brunch we had there, though I have had better. It was ok. The service was very good: agile and attentioned. The MUSIC selection was awesome . I will go again just for that ambiance Food
Nothing special. $18-20 for a Benedict or american breakfast. Watered down drinks. $9 breakfast sandwich you could make at home that left you still hungry. Servers were nice.
Great atmosphere with music in background and friendly service. Comfortable seating. I took la casserole and replaced the bacon with avocado. Had a freshly squeezed orange juice. Portions are good. Perfectly executed. Strongly recommend. My friends had cocktails. Excellent.
Lack of staff to provide adequate service. A little disappointed on the culinary side. The sandwich was soaked in the salad dressing (a little too liquid). The tables are shared (large tables with 6 seats).
Super great food and service. Atmosphere is clean and happy.
The place is very cute. We loved our meals! We are definitely going to go back there. In addition, the owner is very nice. Great service.
Fantastic. Benedict was superb. Homemade hollandaise sauce, crispy potatoes, fresh salad. Fresh squeezed juice. Emelie was a great server. Such a warm inviting experience. Highly recommended.
Absolutely delightful staff and service and the best breakfast/brunch in town. Fresh, tasty and amazing. I was talking to the owner and she said that they try and buy as much local organic as they can. That s fantastic!
The food is amaaaaaaazing. The owner couldnt be lovelier. The whole experience from the moment you set foot inside is pur sunshine and good vibes. A weekend favorite!
A new small brunch restaurant. A good classic, really good breakfast potatoes and perfectly cooked eggs!! Great decor and the team seems to be having a lot of fun which makes you want to go back.
Great spot for lunch just outside downtown Montreal. The atmosphere is very clean and appealing, the food is good, and the coffee is excellent. I ordered a black coffee, Le Club and Poutine - all were really good, especially the Club.
The food was really good, very fresh and tasty. The serving sizes were good, except for maybe the yogurt which was small, and I could have used more. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent, so I will look to return when in the area. It would be nice to have more vegetarian options, such as the eggs benedict would be great with another option other than ham, you can remove the ham but that is not ideal as the vege option. They also have a full bar with some cocktails, so I will have to return to try those as well, a nice touch for a breakfast place. And they also have lunch I just noticed on their website. Vegetarian options: Not many vegetarian options, you can remove the meat from any option, but it is not replaced with a vegetarian variant.
Well thought out menu with fresh ingredients and friendly staff. Definitely my new go to brunch spot in little burgundy!
Omg omg the best hidden jewel.
Amazing service!
It was so good. Fresh ingredients, our dishes were full of flavor, I highly recommend!!!!
had the croi-wich, i think it s called, perfect for a breakfast to go! great service, welcome addition to st henri
Beautiful moments spent at Sunny s for our delicious lunch. Beautiful atmosphere and Emily is most charming. THANKS!
