Authentic South Indian restaurant. We serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner (9am - 9pm)
I ordered from Uber Eats as I was running to the airport and forgot to select cutlery. I called and very nice gentleman answered. I was pleasantly surprised to find a kind note with a gulab jamun. Thank you so much for the kindness and the food was lovely too!!
Hello Team, Kindly respect people food preferences. ⚠️ Vegetarians, Egg eaters beware. I ordered an egg Biryani. The Biryani I received had meat pieces. We had to toss it. Also the curd dip that was given along with it was stale.
I visited 2 days ago with my friends and the food was good. The service was awesome, I just regret not asking the staff's name😝🫣 sorry for the totally inappropriate comment, I wish I lived there, sadly I just visited Montreal for short vacation. Edit: I gave 4 for food, as I didn't feel it was best, it could be better. PS: And Thanks to the staff who was very kind in taking the order and serving us, and also helped me charge my phone. His service was great, I don't know what his name is.
One of the best experience we had. Wish we had this in YYC. Make sure you book the thali in advance as it is limited and high in demand.
This is a true hidden gem. Faire price. We ordered a masala dosa combo with vada and idly. All 3 items were delicious. We also took masala tea to go,that was also 👌.highly recommended. The owner's behavior was very friendly.
Was visiting here from Halifax, Nova Scotia and was looking from some lite breakfast but ended up having a meal. Ordered Chilli Paneer Masala Dosa, loved it!!! It was light and loved the crispy dosa, reminded me of India. Recommend 110% to eat here. Taste is authentic, not too spicy , not to bland and customer service is very good. Moreover, I did not wait too long for my order. Please visit them.
Excellent tasty fresh food and good quantity.Fast and warm service.Highly recommend it. We ordered : 1.veg biriyani 2.chicken biriyani 3.Paneer 65 4.Paneet butter masala 5.Mysore masala dosa All items were perfectly made.Masala chai was awesome too. If you have to choose between Thanjai and bistro,go for bistro..
I've walked by this place a hundred times, but today there wasn't anyone lining up and I felt like Indian food so the timing was perfect. Limited lunch menu, so I played it safe and ordered the butter chicken and naan combo. Comes with a samosa and a pop. My order was ready in about 5 minutes, not bad. Decent portion size, 4-5 pieces of white meat chicken and plenty of sauce. The samosa was fine, it could have used a side sauce but it was nice and crunchy. I liked the butter chicken, the sauce was tasty, you could taste the spices, felt like it was made from scratch. Naan bread was ok, I've had better but it did the job. For about 15$ with tax and tip, I think it's a good deal, and I'll add this place to my approved work lunch list!

While on our visit had dine in the food and service was great
I have visited there before and I couldnt stand their taste it was like I was eating stale food... Ill suggest not to come here it was really a bad experience for me. I just wasted my money here. Worst food ever had in my life.
They have given us spoilt food twice - they give us refrigerated food which obviously gets spoilt when reheated and served. In the past they have sent cold refrigerated chutneys via third party deliveries assuming it gets thawed by the time it reaches their customers. No amount of feedback on phone seems to have helped.
I had ordered vada sambar for take away. Had received sambar which was spoilt. Please double check your products before selling them. Food : 1/5
Best biryani i had in years

Very good and affordable food!
The girl there named pamal she is very ni e, excellent service. food is really great. Kid-friendliness: yes .
We had an opportunity to taste their dishes at our Kannada community Deepavali event. All the dishes were delicious be it sweet, gravy or rice items..we enjoyed every bit.
Awesome food, loved corn salad and noodles. Also, very authentic idly vada, gobi manchurian is good...carrot halwa is yummy. Totally loved eating in their restaurant.
A Wonderful Experience with Cuisine Arya Thanks to Cuisine Arya for graciously sponsoring the cultural events of Deepavali and Kannada Rajyotsava 2024 in Montreal. Their contribution added an extra layer of warmth and festivity to the celebrations! The main course food served at the event was outstanding. The carrot halwa was perfectly sweet and rich, while the corn salad was fresh and flavorful. Every dish was ample, satisfying, and truly delicious. We ve been frequent visitors to Cuisine Arya outside of these events, and they never disappoint. The dishes are always freshly prepared, flavorful, and a testament to their commitment to quality. Cuisine Arya has become one of our favorite spots, and we can t wait to visit again. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves authentic and delicious food!
One of the best Indian restaurant in Montreal Where you can expect Tasty n authentic food. Food
Had diarrhea 5 minutes after finishing the meal
Yummy Good service Food
They have so many dosa options and it was so good. Would recommend !
I recently had 65 biryani and kothu chicken, and the taste was disappointing. It used to be great a few months ago, but now the quality has really pathetic.
If youre craving Indian food, this place is a must-try! The food was amazing, the staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere was delightful. Overall, had a satisfying and flavourful dining experience.
Today, I ordered a breakfast combo from this restaurant. The dosa was good as every restaurant in Montreal. It came with two idlis, medu vada, chutney, and sambar. I found a hair on the idli. Additionally, the medu vada was too oily and stale. The sambar was also not tasty and didnt taste authentic, unlike what is served in South India.
I loved the vegetable dosa. I asked for a sprinkle of fresh coriander. It was delicious
amazing
The food was so tasty.
Excellent delicious Biryani, samosa, and butter chicken!
Such an Amazing Food.. Especially Dosas..They have more than 50+ Varieties of Dosas..Most Unique Aspect of the Restaurant is they Open very Early around 8:30AM..I tried Parotta with Chettinad Chicken Curry which is top to the Core..I suggest this restaurant if anyone really need to go for Authentic Food..They Opened One more new Branch in Laval with Fine Dine-In..For sure will be visiting the Laval Branch also Soon..
Recommend the dosas here! Shout out to Ajay, the server for his courteous and humble mannerism!
Excellent Vadas, like at home. Idlys were perfect and service was tidy and gentle. I will return often Food
Authentic South Indian cuisine. Best quality food, competent and friendly service. Thank you

The experience was superb and the food was great. It s nice place to have South Indian cravings to be satisfied in Canada
Wonderful place to eat. Incredible service, very fast too. Owner was very kind and catered to all of our needs highly recommended this place for an indian fix
Very good South Indian place. We had the masala dosas and idlis and the food quality and service was pretty good. It s on the lower level inside a mall so might be a little tricky to find.
Great food. Courteous service. Attentive staff.
Breakfast was really good, specially if you are looking for south indian style coffee. Definitely worth to spend for breakfast here. Finding the place was bit tough but we can make it if we are really looking for South Indian Food. Staff were good and service was good too.. Overall great experience
Best dosa in Montreal downtown with very friendly and honest service.
Delicious channa masala!
One of the best bosa and chutneys I have had in Montreal!! Also, definitely worth the price!
Loved the food and masala chai. Thank you for an amazing breakfast treat in Montreal. Vegetarian options: Idli, dosa

A good option in downtown Montreal.
The best meal Ive had in a long, long time. I cant wait to go back. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is so very tasty. Cant recommend highly enough.
Great food at great prices.
No idea about atmosphere. Food was okay. I ordered egg puffs. They didnt have any. So they sent me 2 veg puffs and this cute little note with an apology! Nice right ?
Loving the taste. Worth it for the price I spent. After 6 months of being in canada finally found some tamilnadu style restaurant.
Seeing red chutney brought a big smile to my face and every bite of that dosa transported me back to Bangalore. Amazing food, great and fast service. Get ready to be transported to Karnataka! Wonderful slice of home, right in downtown Montreal!
Good South Indian food!! We dropped by this place and ordered Masala Dosa Idli Wada Samosa and everything was fresh and delicious. The service is excellent and the server was very polite. Food : 5/5
The worst South Indian food I have ever had. Its so unfortunate to have paid for such bland and horrible food as I wouldnt have it, if its offered for free. Please avoid this restaurant if you want even decent food.
I had oothapam and vada. Service was good. Food was good. Chutneys were a meh. But Sambar was so good. Love it.
Worst dosa i taste in my life with most expensive price.
Very good service and food
An incredible spot for authentic South Indian food! It s located in a shopping centre/ metro tunnel but there s a seating area with comfortable seats. Wonderful & attentive staff. An excellent find in Montréal.
Food was excellent! Vegetarian options: Potato dosa Food : 5/5 |
3.45 for one samosa, and when you use card they ask for a tip....for what? For handing me a samosa?
Excellent service and the food is delicious
Tasty food and good service
It s not so easy to find, we have to go down the mall, but it s a hidden pearl! The food was so tasty, nice vegetarian and vegan options too, reasonable prices and very nice service.
Nice and friendly staff, good street food.
Food was delicious right about of spices I will definitely come back and try more things
Excellent food and excellent service right before the closing!
The experience of having food here has been wonderful. I love their dosa and fried rice. I highly recommend this place.

All is perfect
Very good
Authentic food, great service Thanks for great breakfast Food
My first meal in Montreal! Came all the way from BC, and the butter chicken with samosa was a great choice to fill me up. Great price as well!
we spent 20min on Street finding this hotel with the wrong map directions. Funny thing is the hotelier doesnt even know his neighbourhood to guide us over call. His best reference was basement of a construction building we found 20+ buildings matching that description..We were very hungry and burnt our leftover energy in finding this building. We couldnt find at all and so we made peace and went to SUBWAY. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH YOUR NAVIGATION SKILLS
Really very good taste and owner is very cooperative even he him prepared dosa as we were very late end of closing of his restaurant He specially make dosa for us Great restaurant Must visit Vegetarian options: Dosa Parking: Public parking
Awesome Service
I tried almost every item of their menu on my trip to Montreal and this restaurant ruined my whole trim, on top of it I paid for parking. It s really messed up don t ever try this

Authentic South Indian taste
Delicious authentic South Indian food with amazing customer service. Crockery could be better.
Tried their food on my trip to montreal and i really loved their food especially the mango lassi.
I come here nearly everyday because the people are so nice and the food tastes delicious! :) Vegetarian options: There is a variety of vegetarian options I usually get idley Kid-friendliness: The place is very family friendly
Cute place. No ventilation...but thats not THEIR FAULT! Indian spot right in the corridor between Les Cours Mont-Royal and Industrial Alliance building on the way to Place Montreal Trust. Very cool owner. Great coffee. Very respectful service and kind attitude Went with a friend. They need more Indian food varieties... OPEN MORE SHOPS!! I LOVE IT.
10/10 service. They embody a service culture. Tasty south indian food. Generous portions. Would definitely come back and recommend to friends.
We tried chicken curry and naan and it was delicious. The staff are so nice and kind. A place I definitely recommend to have authentic Indian food.
If you can focus your on the restaurant, you can imagine yourself eating back home (any south indian restaurant in southern india). Authentic taste, great staff. Best south indian in Montreal, hands down.
Idli was not spungy very hard also the sambhar was not that good in taste Masala Dosa was not as per expectation the potato chatni in dosa was very tastless My stomach became upset after eating this
Good service by Vignesh and Dev
I will not suggest this place. On a Friday evening they didnt have some menu items available. Then We ordered Vada, they were full of oil that, one tissue per Vada got literally wet with the oil. Then tried four types of Dosa, that was also not so good. Another feedback, not drawback: when you eat there also you get packed food like sambar, chutney n all..
We ordered masala dosa this morning, the masala inside was stale and it made my stomach upset. Rest everything was okay.
Food was absolutely delicious! It s Very hard to find spicy Indian food, and this spice level reminded me of Sri Lankan curry! Which what I love! We ordered the chicken biryani and combo butter chicken and Nann. Chicken was tender and full of flavourful spices. I also loved the service I received from the gentleman at the cash! Thanks so much! It s my boyfriend and I s go to place for Indian food
As per the reviews for this restaurant, I wanted to try ordering food from them for the first time. My first experience was not good! I initially ordered the food online for pickup, but the order was not confirmed. Hence, cancelled the order and decided to visit in-person to this place, as I really wanted to give a try. I submitted my order in-person for four(4) different meals for takeout, and upon my request the gentleman gave me an estimated time approx. 20 mins. I waited for 30 mins, and noticed that the customers who ordered after me were served but not me. I approached the order desk and requested if my order was almost ready, the person apologized and replied that the cook has not yet started preparing my order. This restaurant is completely disorganized and do not know how to prioritize and serve the customers. As per the reviews the food may be good, I dont know as I didnt get the opportunity to try, but the customer service is bad. I will not recommend this place, unless management makes serious changes in operations. First change the cook! Find a pro-cook who can dice onions quickly, as I saw from outside the current cook slicing the onions in turtle speed. The cook should know to prioritize and serve the customers in a timely manner, and you may need to consider having minimum two(2) cooks and one(1) person at the front order desk. Sadly a very bad experience for me who visited this place from the other end of the town!!! -1 star
Excellent food. Tamarind dip sauce was unbelievable. We were looking for some food and didnt fancy a dry sandwich on Sunday evening...found this little gem. Everything tasted delicious, lots of spice, Mango lassi to cool it down, yum fresh naan. Lot of vegetarian options. Will stop by again! 10/10 recommended. Vegetarian options: A selection of starters to choose from, rice, naan, Masala, mango lassi - all vegetarian options.
Amazing store. Experienced an authentic South Indian taste of food after a long time. Dosas were the best and the egg puffs was tasty. The service was really amazing. Especially the service person Emmanuel was amazing. Very friendly and polite. His approach towards customers are amazing. Overall this place is amazing, I will give 10/10. Highly recommended place. Vegetarian options: So many veg options Wheelchair accessibility: Easy to get in
The food was amazing and the quality and quality was great and I would love to visit this place every time I visit Montreal. Thanks Immanuel for your great service and help you have done for us to place the order. I suggest everyone to try this place and taste the authentic South Indian food.
Best place for homemade parothas
Wanted to try this restaurant for the first time and Im not disappointed. This place has the best biriyani(must try) and has outstanding dosa(my personal fav). Has a very calming environment with good service. It also gives a very authentic south-Indian vibe which makes it much different from the other south-Indian restaurants that Ive tried.
Review on Bistro Thanjai: Authentic chettinad flavours. Like the dosas and biriyani here. Have ordered and dined in from this place. Dosa batter was available but discontinued since 2 months. Please expect some delay and not a place for the ones who are in a hurry. Edit based on order from 07/14/2022 Bistro Thanjai: Recently we ordered egg puffs via Ubereats and I was totally disappointed to see the piece of egg was like rubber and cant be chewed. It seemed like it was microwaved and reheated. Protein tends to go hard when you overcook them. Else it was one of those fake plastic eggs!! Ratings down from 4 to 3 to improve the quality. The quality of food is down and it is visible from other reviews as well. Edit: 2024: The management has changed and the items seems to have improved. So bumping the rating back to 4. Have had Dosa, Idlis and Egg puffs from Cuisine Arya and they are one of our regular breakfast places from which we order.
Food is good especially if you are looking for authentic South Indian flavors. But it is a bit difficult to find the place and explore more to reach there. Ambience rating is on average.
I have walked past this place so many times without stopping, and finally tried their vegetarian biryani and samosa. It was so tasty and the biryani was much better than what I have had in other restaurants. I will definitely go back.
Hit the spot, amazing Indian breakfast.
Absolutely tasty food
I was hungry after doing my shopping I enjoyed myself I recommend Food
Good price for downtown. Idly vada and dosas are filling, sambhar has some heat to it.
Excellent veg puff
Worst indian food i had in montreal. Dont trust the fake reviews. I wish i had 0 star to give.
First time I tried after passing by many times. I wasn t disappointed and I need to come back to taste their biryani!
I ordered Idly and Medhu Vada, Medhu Vada was fresh and excellent. Probably one of the best vadas in Montreal.
Greatness awaits Dietary restrictions: Sugar Food : 4/5 |
The food was amazing Hard to find such taste so far from MY NDIA LOVED IT Food
We had Medu vada & Mysore masala dosa which both had authentic Indian taste. These were served with white & red chutneys along with sambhar. I recommend ppl in and around to visit this place if you want an authentic South Indian taste
Brilliant hole in the wall dosa spot! Everything hit the spot! Vegetarian options: Dosas. Nuff said Food : 5/5 |
Small little place with good food. We tried sambar vada, idli, and patties. All were good. Must try.
Vegetarian options: Good Food
Very tasty food worth for the price Clean environment and hygienic food
Do not eat their naan or butter chicken. They gave me reheated food and reheated naan. Be careful what you choose in the menu. People will get sick with this kind of food. I will definitely report this restaurant.
Worst paratha ever! It was the frozen packed parathas you find in Walmart, except this one was so stale and old. The paratha inside was so stretchy as if it was many weeks old, the taste was awful. Threw it out after few bites. I demand a free order!! Worst service ever!! This was not a freshly cooked paratha it was kept in freezer and bought from outside since many weeks and heated up. The taste was sick.
Delicious food with accommodating service Been here many times, looking forward to going again. Ps- loved the fact that they serve halal meat !! Recommended dishes
The food tasted really good and yummy.
Wonderful experience. Their Kothu parotta was very good and tasty!
Special Vegetarian options: pods

Very good meal at affordable price
Great service
Great food and a lot of vegetarian options
Great
nice
Delicious South Indian food at a great price!
Love the samosas nd masala dosa here highly recommend
Probably the only place in Montreal that sells puffs. Very friendly staff too!
I discovered this charming South Indian restaurant, and their street food is the real deal. Its not just delicious; its also easy on the wallet! Their butter chicken curries is delicious. Its rich with spices and incredibly creamy, and the chicken is wonderfully tender. The flavor combination is simply spot on. I ordered the combo with spiced rice, and I was impressed by the perfect moisture level. The accompanying bread had a delightful chew and added a nice surprise to the meal. Their Dosa is a must-try! I finally found a spot in downtown that serves crispy dosa just the way I like it. Plus, they offer a variety of dosa options, so Im excited to try more on my next visit!
Loved all the different Biryanis here...Very tasty!!!
Vegetarian options: I liked the food and their service. I recommend Food
The best place for the most authentic South Indian food in Montreal! The dosa tasted exactly like how you get it in India! I loved the chilly chicken and noodles too! The chai and the veg puffs are great! I highly recommend it over other South Indian restaurants in Montreal!
I ordered via Uber eats and was very pleased with everything. Good pricing and portions. They even sent me a little treat with a word for being the first customer of the day
I ordered 20 chicken tikka biriyani at Arya .. We had a good experience. Taste was awesome and the quantity was good .. Also food was delivered on time at South shore .. Will definitely come back ..
Im editing my review now. This used to be my most favourite place. I dont know what happened, I thought its just the name thats changed, apparently something else changed too. Food isnt very tasty, and most importantly, its not very fresh anymore. _________________________________ Great food! So authentic south Indian. Tasty, hygenic and clean packing, and great value for money
Ordered from uber eats and the food was good.I ordered sambar idli, onion dosa and vada pav. They were packed nicely and there were no leakages from the sambar and chutney.Vada pav was super tasty and so was the sambar idli.Onion dosa was ok.
We ordered in lot and the food was really good!
Cuisine Arya offers a delightful chana dosa with perfect flavors, but the biryani 65 was disappointing, lacking aroma and distinct taste. Room for improvement, especially with the biryani. Vegetarian options: NA
Amazing food, proper authentic south indian food.i found the restaurant randomly and i got the right one
People making food in kitchen were sick.. heard sounds of sneezing and other flu symptoms.. all restaurants take precautions against flu like wearing masks and avoiding sick staff to come on job.. hygenically i will give only 1 star.
This is the best veg place in downtown! Love their coffee and chai too
Very small portion! I took combo, they did not offer what drink I wanted. They gave me soda Club!
