About

La Croqueteria de Montreal is the first Spanish Croqueteria on Canadian soil since 2017. We elaborate in a seasonal fashion and with organic ingredients, traditional Spanish Croquetas, and other recipes with a Montreal twist; we always respect the Spanish style, bechamel-based. They are creamy but crispy. At the same time, light but comfort food feel alike.

Honestly these were better than I expected, it’s suggested to get a box of 6 or 12 (you pay per croquette) and try several flavors. Our favorite (which they recommended) was the ham. Perfect little snack that’s easy to take on the go, would come back!

I love potatoes. Croquette is certainly no exception. I found La Croqueteria by accident and was intrigued by the unique varieties it hs offered. So i was determined to visit the place for afternoon snack trying out all croquette flavours (didnt expect the shop is fr take away only😅). The chef was v. welcoming and explained all the variants in English (as i dont speak French). Creme brulee, margarita, garlic, cheddar and ham. The creme brulee croquette is unique and nostalgic. The first bite sent my tastebuds dancing. It hs hint of citrus w/ buttery flavour which reminds me of my childhood 1980s SEA's square cookies. Totally love it! The cheddar is similar to Indonesian version (originated frm Dutch) of Bitterbolen and ragout 'kroket'. Simply love the melt in the mouth type of dessert. I'm bringing back dozens to Jakarta for my mom to try. 28 hours travel distance...no problem. Hv experience in packing fresh food for long distance travel.😁

My girlfriend and I visited for lunch and we enjoyed trying out all the different flavours they offered. We got a dozen croquettes and found that they were quite fulfilling. Next time we would probably get half a dozen. We recommend getting a mix, just ask for the amount you’d like along with which of each flavour. They are quite pricy, so keep that in mind!

Eating is so much about both of food and the experience. You get both at La Croquetería de Montreal. I stopped at the Marché Jean Talon booth, and ordered a small paella and one of each croqueta. It was so good and filling, and the owner was happy to let me order in Spanish (I'm learning and it was my first time speaking it with a native person!). The croquetas were so creamy inside yet crispy and golden outside. The paella had large shrimps and the portion was very generous. Lovely ❤️

We stumbled upon this place on our Montreal trip, and so glad we did! The Spanish croquettes are so delightful! Very crispy, not oily, delicious filling. You can buy them by half a dozen, and we tried 3 different flavors, one with ham, aged cheddar and piquillos. My personal favorite was the one with piquillos, these peppers are imported from Spain. We also tried the fermented “lemon-aid”, and it was fantastic and so unique. They sell it by a bottle, and you can return the bottle and get a small refund. The owner is passionate about sustainability, all the boxes/containers are recyclable. He was super friendly, and you can tell he puts his heart and soul to his creations. If you are in Montreal, highly recommend checking this place out. They also have a stand at the Jean Talon Market. There is a small patio outside where you can sit. They only accept cash or Canadian debit.

Fresh delicious tasty and friendly enthusiastic staff makes for a fabulous eating experience. Lots of great combinations for croquets to choose from. Our favourites were jamon serrano, shrimp and garlic and crab! Light, not heavy or too filling and crispy without being oily to the touch. Great little afternoon snack!

Just tried this place yesterday and definitely coming back! Authentic croquetas just like the ones reminiscent of my trip to Spain a few years ago. The owner is friendly and takes his time explaining the ingredients, you can tell the ingredients and combination are chosen wisely and with passion for food! The inside decor is also very creative. My favorite was the chicken and poblano/corn one but they were all delicious! They are also easy to takeout to have a picnic after. Will be back!

It s the closest I ve been to a world-class competition in my entire life and it was almost like watching a solar eclipse. Seeing the best cyclists in the world descending the side of Mount Royal at dizzying speeds, I was so impressed and admired that I almost became euphoric. Completing the extravagant procession, many SUVs carrying spare bikes even seemed to be struggling to keep up. It was all the more electrifying as I stumbled upon the event by pure chance heading to La Croqueteria with A as the restaurant of the day. From the small terrace of the small restaurant-counter, we could hear the cheers of the crowd and notice the runners racing up the avenue du parc. Once the euphoria dissipated and my head settled back on my shoulders, I still remained in a state of contemplative well-being throughout the meal. For this, I can thank A. whose pleasant company never fails me, the perfect feeling of warmth in the shade of 4520, avenue du Parc and, of course, the excellent Spanish croquettes of the establishment. They were all finely breaded, so slightly crunchy, and then smooth once the shell was pierced. Instead of listing my favorite croquettes, I simply suggest that you order at least their must-haves and the croquette of the day (at least, if you are like me and enjoy the variety of flavors). If you only opt for 2 or 3 pieces per person, be aware that this quantity will be clearly insufficient to satisfy your hunger. Therefore, we also asked for the ham-burger that the friendly and jovial waiter/cook/only employee had presented to us as his favorite: a very good sandwich, not juicy unlike a real hamburger, offering a look different on their most popular croquette, the jamón , with an interesting combination of flavors with tomato sauce, piparras, fresh ham which won t necessarily fill you up either. However, I will be careful not to lament it, since we only paid, in the end, $17 per person and we could have easily afforded two or three other small bites. Furthermore, the most important thing is that my meal with A. brought me into the present moment. I didnt think about anything else, except what my skin, my eyes, my taste buds, my ears were communicating to me. The combination of these sensations constituted a moment of perfect relaxation which rewarded a week of hard work. So I thank these delicious restaurants which, like La Croqueteria de Montréal, motivate me to work hard. I also thank these incredible athletes who inspire me to also give the best of myself. Vegetarian options: The delicious cheddar and Catalan cream croquettes Parking: Since the street was blocked to cars, I had to go quite far away (500 meters), but that didnt matter! Walking on such a pleasant day is a joy. Kid-friendliness: Yes, summer with the small terrace. Wheelchair accessibility: No. The terrace is also only accessible by climbing two steps.

Very tasty and tasty. I took the jamon ones as well as the dessert croquettes. Normally I pass the area looking for Australian pasties and this time I decided to give La Croqueteria a chance. They were very good. They are convenient to eat in the car as a snack. Being satisfied with my visit, I will definitely return there when I return to the Island. The only missing star is explained by the fact that the employee, very kind and informative, was unable to express himself in French. We certainly spoke in Spanish, but I believe it is important that the workers can serve their customers in the language of Molière. However, I will come back to it :)

Updated review: I have heard they premake some of the food well in advance and reheat it before serving. Some may be frozen. This is not authentic Spanish food, which makes marvelous, FRESH fried things. The quality has changed. They are now oily (makes sense if theyre sitting there for hours or frozen, there are vastly fewer interesting flavors (virtually no seafood), and the overall taste is not as superlative as before. At this quality they are absolutely not worth the price. Id give them the same grade as bar food. I hate to say that, but its true. The owner should focus less on expansion, branding and social media, and more on the food. Review from 2020: Very good little shop with delicious croqués! Nice, friendly owners, and cute decor too.

December 22, 2022

Pros: The owner is friendly and seems like a nice guy. Cons: No matter what flavour you choose the texture is always the same (like potato pudding). Also, youd expect pollo to actually have some chicken in it, the jamon to have some ham in it etc... but theres just enough of it to give flavour to the runny potato pudding. The worst part is the portion size for the price. These are two bites croquettes, 12 of those fit in a very small box. Its a snack, not a meal. 12 to 15$ would be honest but 30$ !! Its just not worth it.

Do you ever wonder if there is a cool tapa-style Spanish cuisine place in Montreal? If you like trying savory bites that can make you travel across different Spanish provinces in just a mouthful, then you definitely have a place to go in Montreal. La Croqueteria de Montreal. Authentic croquetas. What is a croqueta? Potato nuggets? No, my friend We re talking traditional bechamel, crusty on the outside, melting on the inside. The flavors? All inspired from typical Spanish dishes AND a Quebec fusion because why not? ;) The ingredients are mostly organic and local (if possible). My favorite selection of 6 croquetas: the very classic Jamón Serrano (Spanish high-end ham), Morue & Épinard (Cod & Spinach), Calmar à l encre (Black ink squid), Crevette à l ail (Garlic shrimp), Montreal Smoked Meat & for dessert, Leche merengada (milk & cinnamon). I just tried the Niscalos today (see pic), new on the menu, and I got surprised! For drinks: the chef s famous homemade Lemon Aid that comes in a sustainable container. Tips: Croquetas are made to eat sur le pouce , which means right when they get prepared, for the best sizzling experience.

This morning I was in a croquette branch in Jean Talon marquet and I have to say that being very demanding with the croquettes .they have a ten. And the presentation with its well-organized boxes. They are not oily, they are compact, very well cooked, at the ideal temperature and not overcooked. I knew I was going to like the ham ones but I found the Quebecois ones interesting and especially the cheddar ones. Of course I will go visit this place... knowing that there is a Murcian dish on the menu, where I am from... I love the Montreal croquettes from this place.

The place is nice and well located, possibility of eating at Jeanne Mance Park. Pro: The price of croquetas is affordable and there are sizes of 6 and 12 (with discount). The lemon lemonade is , the place has a small terrace without a table with benches where you can eat quickly after ordering. I didnt taste their tortilla but it looked very good. Cons: I went there without really knowing what Spanish croquetas were and I wasnt expecting that. The filling is based on bechamel, for all flavors (chicken, cod, etc...) so there are no pieces inside. Im sure its very good when you like it but its not my kind of food so before going there, be sure you like this kind of texture :) So I would give no less than 4 because This opinion is based on my culinary preferences and not on the quality of the croquetas.

A bunch of tasty options but I still havent tried them all because I keep going back for more of that Jamón Serrano, yum! Chef Tigretón and his staff are really friendly and everything I try, including the lemonade and the coffee, is a refreshing mix of familiar and delightfully new. Note: takeout only with a small patio (no interior seating), and cash or debit (no credit cards). Vegetarian options: Several seafood options if you are pescetarian, but also some straight up vegetarian choices too. If you cant eat cheese for whatever reason though, might need to steer clear, as most items include cheese. The Aztecas option doesnt specifically list cheese as an ingredient, but I would ask for yourself if you need to be sure. Kid-friendliness: Croquetas are fried snacks crispy on the outside and cheesy on the inside. Some of the flavours might be less kid-friendly depending on the kid, but the Jamón Serrano for instance has tasty pieces of ham. There are some sweet options too but some kids might not enjoy cheesecake, so choose carefully if you have a picky eater.

My wife is a croqueta nut so I surprised her and brought her here. 3 of us ordered 18 croquettes total thinking we could have some leftover for the following day but they did not make it :) The owner and young lady that took care of us were very easy going and inviting. One thing to note is that they don t take credit so bring cash but do it because the croquettes are well worth it.

Sunday August 27 at 7:32 p.m. we entered to ask for information; as we did not know the place; and the employee was extremely arrogant, she clearly didnt want to work. Part of the conversation: She explains to us that there are several kinds and they are only boxes. Me: Is the price displayed next to it for the box of 6? Cashier: think a little...what do you think? Seriously; with this attitude; I told her wow and left and she grumbled as we walked out: okay byebye. I really wonder what she was thinking about being arrogant like that; while she sells a product that is different to us; then they should want to have new customers. Brief; Ill try again another time; and if the service is the same I will give up... Its boring; we like to discover food elsewhere.

My favorite of all time is the squid ink croquetta. I also love the kimchi ones. Best way is to order randomly and keep explorring chef Tigres arrangements. There is a lot of art in each croquetta. The true way of tea is no expecation. Sen No Rikyu (japanese zen master). The same could be said The true way of croquettas is no expectation which means being ready to explore and be delighted. The owner is very personable, witty and down to earth, hes a genuine character in a good way. They have a very nice and original variety of Croquetas that were tasty. However, its too rich to have on a regular basis (imo) but they are great for parties and get togethers and as a treat to yourself once a month.....unless you like really rich foods then go ahead and have at em on the daily. In my opinion he would sell more if they were $1.99 each as opposed to $2.45 each, its a psychological thing for most consumers to spend over $2 on a small snack....but hey, the man needs to make his money because the restaurant business is expensive to operate and his job is not easy. However, I will stand by my suggestion of lowering the price to increase volume and revenues. He should also consider doing a $1 (or 12 for $15) special on Mondays to sell off leftover inventory from the weekend. This way he could do a faster turnover, lower his waste loss and give new people a good reason to try the Croquetas.
