We had the fish of the day (monkfish) and the braised lamb. Both were excellent and the fresh baguette was nice too.

The vegetarian lasagna tasted good though perhaps slightly too creamy. It was a good mix of sauce, cheese, and vegetables. The salad that accompained was perfectly dressed and allowed the vegetables to really show for themselves. The orange sponge cake with dark chocolate sauce and raspberry sauce on the side was a tasty dessert. The cake was soft and moist. You could really taste the orange but it was not overpowering. The dark chocolate sauce provided a good balance between the citrus of the orange and bitter sweetness of the dark chocolate. Would recommend

This was a fantastic place for dinner. I had the braided beef cheek and my colleague has the braided pork cheek. So good and was every bit as good as the ones I've had in Europe. The service was fantastic as was the atmosphere. Food came out quick and we were never bothered about partying the check. We were allowed to sit and talk as long as we wanted to. So nice. In the States, the servers try and get you to pay and leave. Not here.

Sophisticated food with a casual and comfortable atmosphere! This restaurant was a happy surprise after a long day of travel. Everything was delicious and our only complaints: too many amazing dishes to choose from and not enough time on our trip to squeeze in a second visit! The duck salad was the star of the meal. But the dip with the bread was lovely and our entrees: Catalonian parillada style meats mixed grill and the featured grilled calamari was excellent. We hope to one day to try the paella, Spanish style fish and seafood parrillada, and so many other dishes!

Situated in the heart of Old Port Montreal, my experience here was nothing but positive. We were lucky enough to sit by the window, enjoying a stunning view that captured the old European vibe of the city. The customer service was outstanding, with our waiter clearly explaining the menu. We ordered the paella, a dish with sausage and beans (maybe with rice?), and a brie cheese salad as an appetizer. The portions were generous, and I loved every dish we tried. While it may not be the most budget-friendly spot, if you're looking to fully immerse yourself in Spanish cuisine with excellent service, this is the place to be.

### Restaurant Review: Restaurant Les Pyrénées, Old Montreal Celebrating our four-month journey living in Montreal, my wife and I were delighted to discover Restaurant Les Pyrénées, thanks to our family friends who have resided in Old Montreal for several years. This hidden gem offered a memorable dining experience, reflecting both the rich culinary heritage of the region and the vibrant atmosphere of Old Montreal. **Ambiance and Service:** Nestled in the heart of Old Montreal, Restaurant Les Pyrénées exudes a warm and inviting ambiance. The rustic decor, combined with a cozy, intimate setting, creates the perfect backdrop for a special celebration. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with ease and ensuring our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. **Appetizer and Wine:** We started our meal with a classic appetizer of dip and bread, perfectly paired with a bottle of Bodegas Aroa Le Naturel Navarra wine. The dip was creamy and flavorful, and the bread was fresh and warm, setting a high standard for the dishes to follow. The wine, with its rich and robust flavors, complemented the appetizer beautifully. **Main Courses:** For our main course, we indulged in two exquisite dishes: 1. **Twelve Hours Braised Lamb:** The lamb, slow-cooked to perfection, was incredibly tender and flavorful. Accompanied by spinach with roasted almonds and a delicate thyme sauce, each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. The roasted almonds added a delightful crunch, and the thyme sauce elevated the dish to new heights. 2. **Rotinis with Chicken and Chorizo:** This dish was a vibrant medley of flavors and colors. The rotinis were cooked al dente, and the combination of chicken, chorizo, crunchy vegetables, olives, and sun-dried tomatoes created a symphony of tastes that was both hearty and satisfying. The chorizo added a spicy kick, while the sun-dried tomatoes provided a tangy sweetness that balanced the dish perfectly. **Dessert:** To conclude our meal, we opted for the Crème Caramel. This classic dessert was the ideal ending to our dining experience, with its smooth, creamy texture and rich caramel flavor. It paired wonderfully with the remaining sips of our wine, creating a delightful finish to our evening. **Conclusion:** Restaurant Les Pyrénées offered us an unforgettable dining experience, celebrating both our time in Montreal and the rich culinary traditions of the region. The combination of exceptional food, attentive service, and a charming ambiance makes this restaurant a must-visit for anyone in Old Montreal. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a delightful meal, Restaurant Les Pyrénées is sure to impress.

Came across this gem while looking for gluten-free food options in old port. It’s a Spanish Catalan cuisine, great spot for paella. We ordered salad and seafood paella and they were fantastic. The portions are generous. The service was great and the manager is doing an amazing job; really enjoyed our experience. My advice: don’t skip dessert!!!! The dessert was exceptional!!! The profiteroles are to die for and we tried the orange cake which was also amazing. Very elegant laid back vibe, I recommend for a chill night out or a date night!

Its thr furst time I ordered a take out, Im giving 5 stars because the one who took my order noticed from my accent that Im a Muslim and therefore they were very cautious on adding chorizo to my plate, so they put it on the side. Perfect reasoning, and well put, Im baffled that they did that without me asking so Im very happy with the service and with how they treated my order! Im just happy :) THANK YOU ALL.

Its a jewel in Montreal that deserves to be known more! My boyfriend comes from the South-West of France and we were transported there for one of the most delicious meals we ate here. The products are of very high quality, the dishes and cocktails are prepared with finesse, the atmosphere is cozy and calm (which is greatly appreciated when you dont like places where you have to shout to have a conversation with the person in front of you) and the service was truly impeccable. The toilets are also the cleanest I have seen in a restaurant in my life, and I really appreciated the fact that tampons, sanitary towels, cotton swabs and tissues were available to customers free of charge in the bathroom. I highly recommend this restaurant! Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian options in starters as well as a section of the menu with several vegetarian main courses

I had the pleasure of dining at Les Pyrénées for the first time with my family, and it was a wonderful experience! This is a reservation-based restaurant, but we arrived without one. Luckily, we came early, and Im so glad we did because the place filled up quickly and was packed by the time we finished. It s clear this is a popular spot, and for good reason. The restaurant is perfect for large groups, with a warm and inviting ambiance that combines rustic Spanish charm with modern touches. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and ensured our dining experience was seamless. For appetizers, we were treated to freshly baked bread served with a creamy garlic spread that set the tone for the meal. Every bite was a delight. My family was thrilled with their dinner choices, and everyone left satisfied. I ordered from the dinner specials menu and had the Seared Salmon. The filet was cooked to perfection and served with a vibrant salsa of avocado, radishes, capers, and tomatoes. The flavors were fresh, balanced, and absolutely delicious. For dessert, I indulged in the Flan Caramel, a French-style custard with subtle star anise aromas. It was smooth, rich, and the perfect way to end the meal. All in all, tonights dinner was a success. The food, service, and ambiance exceeded our expectations, and we were all pleased with our orders. Les Pyrénées is a gem, and we ll definitely be back this time with a reservation!

At Les Pyrénées restaurant in Montreal, we enjoyed a starter to share with crispy fried squid and a spicy sauce, accompanied by grilled vegetables and tasty little bites. The main course, a fillet of mackerel of the day, was perfectly cooked, with fresh pesto and crunchy vegetables. The service, very pleasant and attentive, made the experience even more pleasant. A simple and well-executed meal, with a warm welcome.

It has not been my best experience tasting the vast and rich Spanish food that exists. Although I must highlight the wonderful reception and attention of everyone in the place, unfortunately the food was not first class. A seafood grill that was, so to speak, simple. It lacked a lot of Spain: onion, garlic, saffron, leek, cilantro. In short, it was not bad, but not worth repeating either, since the dish we ordered can easily be reproduced at home without much effort (prawns, oysters and grilled fish), and perhaps we would all do better with a little extra creativity. If I went back I would dare to try another dish. Parking: Its downtown Montreal!, so, there is never a place to park, anywhere. Which is not the restos fault.

Ordered through Uber. Horrible tasteless overpriced food. Hope the experience is better in the actual restaurant.

We came here because we were staying nearby, and I love paella. Dont come here if you love paella. It was terrible. The seafood was overcooked, and there was no socarrat in the paella. They basically cooked some rice in a steam pot, threw in some WAY overcooked shrimp, clams, and mussels, and tossed it in a paella like pan. If you love paella, you know what socarrat is. This had none. It also had no flavor. My dining companion had the lasagna, and it was a hot mess, as well. The top had a crunchy and chewy texture. The rest was an overcooked mass of mush. At least it had a good flavor. They probably achieved that by happy accident. I was really disappointed in our main meals. And, they werent cheap. The only thing that was good was the donut with ice cream. This was very tasty. They must have had a separate chef cooking this bad boy, cuz it was perfect. I still gave this restaurant 3 stars because the service was phenomenal. Our waitress was great, and her helper was very friendly and attentive as well. **Note...This was only one of two restaurants in Montreal that we had good service at. Were going on almost 5 years since COVID, and I think restaurant service is actually getting worse and not better.

Overpriced and underwhelming tourist trap. We went during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. Actually, we were shocked we were able to find a table for a large group, but after eating there it became clear. The food was mediocre at best and shamelessly overpriced. The paella was dry, underseasonned and had mostly mussels, a few tiny clams and three shrimp, not any chorizo to speak of. The grilled squid was boiled and absolutely had no flavor. The onion soup was too sweet and unbalanced in flavor. The fried trio platter, tasted of rancid oil and was a bit burned and heavily coated with oil. A couple of meat dishes were dry but edible. Service was good but not outstanding. Not a place I would return to or recommend. We left wondering where all the five star reviews came from.

Went there for Father s Day. Food was ok. We felt that we were rushed even though restaurant was empty (apart from us there was no one at the restaurant at 11:15 am - outside in terrace seating there were 4- 6 people). The wait staff tried removing the soup bowl before it was finished. He apologized, but later he did the same with the main course dish. We had to tell him that we are still eating. The wait staff added the tip amount by himself and passed the card reader. The tip % was more than we had planned to give due to our experience. Hopefully, they train the wait staff better so people can have better dining experience!

A Culinary Symphony at Pyrenees market cuisine Nestled in the heart of old Montreal, Pyrenees beckons with promises of culinary bliss and an ambiance that dances between modern chic and timeless elegance. Upon stepping inside, one is enveloped in an atmosphere that whispers of refinement and invites you to savor every moment. The star of the show? The chefs masterpiece: the Cassoulet à la Toulousaine, canard confit, saucisse, agneau et jarret de porc. From the first bite, its evident that each element of this dish has been meticulously crafted to perfection. The lamb, delicately seared to golden perfection, boast a tender texture that practically melts in your mouth, while the sausage provides a decadent contrast of earthy flavors that dance harmoniously on the palate. But its not just the food that delights the senses; its the entire experience. The attentive waitstaff move with grace, ensuring that every need is met without intruding on the diners enjoyment. The soft lighting and tasteful decor create an ambiance that is both intimate and inviting, making it the perfect setting for an unforgettable dining experience. In summary, Pyrenees market cuisine is a culinary oasis where every dish is a work of art and every moment is savored. Whether youre celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking an escape from the mundane, this establishment promises a symphony of flavors that will leave you craving an encore. My wife and I are newcomers to this place, but were pleasantly surprised when we meet another couple who highly recommended it. Coincidentally, theyve visited multiple times with different groups, and the place has never failed to impress.

The service was very good, but the food was disappointing. We ordered the fish soup, goat cheese salad, and Catalonian anchovies to start. The salad was good, but the anchovies and soup were just okay. For the mains, we had the beef tartare and plancha calamari which were on special. We were disappointed with our choices, as the calamari dish was not seasoned and the calamari was a bit chewy, but the rice was pretty good. The beef tartare also disappointed us as the beef was chewy and the potato crisps were stale. Overall while it is a nice restaurant and the staff was amazing, we were disappointed with the execution and quality control of the dishes we ate in comparison to the amount we paid ($240 for the meal and a bottle of wine + taxes and tip).

A must when visiting Montreal. Joey met as at door and invited us in. Dorothy was an awesome server and Joey checked in regularly. Go for Grilled calamari vs fried. It was epic!. Paella was very authentic and tasty and the wine recommendation was perfect. The atmosphere is lovely and I can only imagine the summer and being outside. Thanks for a great dinner and make sure you visit when in Old Town. One of our favorites

Very good food, served with care. On the other hand, the French waiter arrived at the restaurant with his hands-free kit activated and allowed us to enjoy his conversation without any discretion on his part for more than 10 minutes. He then served us without any good humor in a mechanical manner and without caring about us. In short, and we still wonder why we are called the cursed French ???

Many Spanish restaurants in Montreal try to get the paella right but miss in one way or another. I lived in Spain and have traveled the country. I can tell you with great certainty Pyrénées got it right! Loved my dish and the service was excellent! Highly recommend.

A superb discovery in Montreal, we had a great time, the food was delicious, the cocktails very good, nothing to say, we recommend ! We will just add that for us it was more French cuisine than Spanish although the presence of some typical Catalan dishes a good part of the menu is French, so forward gourmets looking for good French dishes

I come from Catalonia and it caught my attention to see a sign, so I approached the restaurant. I looked at the menu with curiosity and... Where are the typical dishes of Catalonia? Where are the traditional potted meat cannelloni? Where is the broth? Where are the smothered beans? And I have more questions: What is a Catalan paella (do they promote the Catalan countries by including Valencia in the adjective Catalan?)? And a Catalan risotto? Well, we are not talking about the paella with chorizo, a classic of gastronomic ignorance. I cant comment on whether this experimental cuisine is good or not because I havent been inside the restaurant. I leave 2 stars out of 5 for the good gesture of trying to promote our cuisine and to put a flag in Montreal (beautiful city).

The service is impeccable. The waiters are attentive and serve the wine/water right away. The food is good. I really liked my eggplant Tian starter. My veggie paella lacked a little taste in my opinion. Dessert was delicious. We received a baguette with a tomato-based sauce and at the end a mini glass of dessert wine (free) which were very popular for the holiday season :) Vegetarian options: I really appreciated the presence of several vegetarian options (both in the starters and main courses and even a vegan daytime dessert!)

Food was good, but portions are on the smaller side, I left hungry. The service was pretty bad. Our server completely dropped the ball and forgot about us, didnt bring the wine, ignored us several times when we tried to get his attention. A different server picked up our table after I asked them and helped us out. We waited for our dishes close to an hour and finished them in 5 minutes, because we were hungry and the portions are small. Our friends arrived 30 min after us at a separate table and got their food at the same time as us. We observed servers at this restaurant act kind of snobby and dont care much about your experience.

My wife and I went to Pyrénées to celebrate our anniversary. We arrived shortly after 6 pm so it was not crowded; we sat on the terrace. Service was excellent: timely, attentive and friendly. Fresh baguette in unlimited quantity. My wife and I shared a vegetable appetizer with roasted eggplant and cauliflower that was excellent; she then had the fish of the day and I had the vegan paella. (This restaurant has several vegetarian and a few vegan options.) Both dishes were excellent in terms of both flavour and presentation. The paella dish was large enough to feed two (or even three!) people. A half-dozen wines can be bought by the glass; we tried a Sauvignon and a rosé that were both better than what we usually buy. The desserts were tempting but by then we were not at all hungry anymore Pricing was quite reasonable considering the quality. In every respect our experience was very positive and I would gladly return!

Service was poor by the server. I can t remember her name but i think during the entire dinner she only came to us 3 times. My glass of water was empty for more than 15 minutes, our empty dishes were left on the table until the end. For a fine dining restaurant and the price im paying for a dish i was not expecting this kind of service. Let s talk about food. Seafood paella was dry, bland, and barely warm. Doesn t look like it was cook in the paella pan but transferred later. Seafood parrillada was mostly mussels and clam shells. Paid almost $55 for it. Definitely not recommended. The other servers were nice and attentive.

Restaurant les Pyrénées is a good restaurant, don t get me wrong, but it does not back up the price of its dishes with quality. A $34 (pre-tax) dish of catch-of-the-day fish at such a nice restaurant should absolutely not be served with steamed broccoli and zucchini, and worst of all, canned black olives you d find on a cheap pizza. The serving of fish itself, though well-cooked, was so small compared to the other dishes that it warranted something to actually fill you up. Otherwise, the service was great, and the atmosphere was alright.

I dont really do reviews, so I just want to be clear that Im not upset with any particular item of service or food quality. Understanding how hard people in the food industry work, I hate to denigrate them. Having said that, I just want other potential diners to understand that this is NOT a 4.6 star worthy place. The food was OKAY, but calling it mediocre is fair. Drinks were fine, and the service was okay. But this was most definitely a place plying the tourist trade thats so prevalent in Old Montreal. We ordered the goat cheese salad, which was the high point, then had the seafood parillada and the vegetarian paella. The paella was poorly seasoned and bizarrely served covered in a layer of raw vegetables. Ive made paella much better than this, BTW, and I have no clue what they were thinking. The grilled seafood was okay, but it was mostly mussels, which were fine, if a bit under seasoned. The shrimp were few and not fresh. Anyway, just dont dine here thinking its going to be amazing, or even very good. Its a classic tourist trap.

Visiting Montreal, walked around Old Montreal area and saw this place for dinner. It had a nice ambiance and decided to try. It wasnt too busy on a Tuesday evening. Service was good, server was attentive and came by a few times to make sure we were okay. Food was good and tasty, shared the calamari which was freshly cooked. Ordered the specials, the walleye and mahi mahi which came with tea or coffee. Shared a desert which was the orange cake. Also ordered a bottle of white wine, a bit more on the pricier side but it was good. Overall the meal was tasty, smaller portions however, we were full and satisfied. Would recommend for a date night.

We wanted a quick bite before a show and stopped here for lunch today. Ordered the risotto, quiche and the salmon. We were so shocked to find the biggest green bug in our salad in the quiche!! The bug was alive and smothered in salad dressing! When we showed it to our waitress she basically gaslighted us said it came from the flower pots that were outside. No apology, or anything but another salad was provided. Risotto lacked flavour, quiche was soggy and wet?? And the salmon was so oily. Never returning, please go somewhere else for your meal!! We just paid quickly and left to catch our show.

I visited Old Montreal for (5) five days and Les Pyrenees was by far the absolute best restaurant, of (6) six that I visited while on vacation! They were very friendly and courteous. I had the privilege of having the owners son wait on our table. He was very friendly and a pleasure to converse with, and made us feel like we were at home. They served absolutely the best Paella I have ever eaten, and the seafood was fresh with the rice and Chorizo seasoned like real authentic Spanish and French style cooking is known for. To cap off my meal, I had Crème Bruellee for dessert which was unbelievably awesome! I highly recommend this restaurant! You will not be disappointed!

Unfortunately, our visit here was rather disappointing. We met some friends who came to visit and arrived a bit late so we chose to go to a restaurant next to their hotel. First and foremost, the food just didnt taste good. My soup was almost cold and the subsequent paella was dry in both meat and rice. Furthermore was the service quite unfriendly when we didnt drink any alcohol as a sober friend was with us. It felt like we were ignored afterwards and attention was diverted elsewhere. Montreal has so many great restaurants so I would recommend visitors to venture outside of the old port and find actually good food and respectable service!
