This is the same Rocket that was on Water street for years. The food is good and decent, the decor and space is very similar. The location is funky but I happen to pass by all the time as it is the axis of Mt. Pearl. The service is okay they seem understaffed.
I recently took my two children for a visit here as I had heard some good things about this place. We planned on getting some baked goods. When we went to the baked good section I’m estimating that it was perhaps 90% empty. Many items were completely sold out. There was very little to choose from. My kids both wanted cinnamon buns however there was only one tired looking cinnamon bun left. When I asked if a fresh batch would be coming out the service replied that no more were coming. We ordered the lonely looking bun with some sort of carrot cake baked good. I asked the clerk if the cinnamon bun could be heated for the kids and he replied that this would not be possible. I also ordered a cup of coffee. We shared the two baked goods between the three of us. They both tasted as if they were on the verge of going bad and were semi-stale. None of us were very impressed by the quality of the food. I can only describe the baked goods as being below average at best. The quality of the coffee was mediocre to below average. Furthermore, the cost of the food seemed exorbitant in relation to its quality. I believe the cost of these three items was close to $20. And of course, the service expects a tip (like everywhere else nowadays) even though table service is not provided. The atmosphere of the dining area presented as being as tired as the food we ordered. I’m not sure if any two tables matched and the furniture appeared heavily aged and damaged. While the dining area wasn’t seedy it was far from presenting as being modern, fresh, and comfortable. Following this experience, I took my kids to Dough By’s in CBS. They had many cinnamon buns, the buns were fresh, the cost was significantly less, and the quality was far superior to the one we shared at The Rocket. There wasn’t a dining area there. However, the experience was far superior. I am quite amazed at the number of positive reviews this place has received on Google reviews. I have discussed my experience with others who have had similar experiences. I don’t plan on returning here.
So worth the trip into Mount Pearl! My first time trying a flakie and I was hooked! The coffee was made with quality beans and complimented my flakie. A older man came out from the back and since it was my first time there described all the different flakies they had weekly. My favorite was raspberry jam, but on my next visit to Newfoundland the Carmel flakie is on my list. It was quite a busy production behind with the freshly bakes on site tempting items, muffins, croissants, cakes, cookies and so much more. The atmosphere I understand was "Old Style Newfoundland". My friends said it was like visiting "Nan's house". Would highly recommend Rocket Bakery for anyone looking for a delightful coffee/tea and pastry experience! Look forward to visiting again!

Rocket Bakery was always a must stop, on any visit to St. John’s or Mount Pearl. It is sad to see how much the quality and service has dropped off, even since our last visit in 2021. It took at least 20 minutes to get our coffee when there were barely any people in the store. They didn’t offer to warm up the cinnamon bun or scone, which used to be asked. Both tasted hard and dry which may have been improved by hearing them. The cold brew, when it finally arrived, tasted off, in that it was extremely bitter. My daughter had the breakfast sandwich on a biscuit, because they were out of the croissants by noon. She was pleased with it so I have it a try and it was tasty. My husband enjoyed his fish cakes and flakie as well. To top it off it was very hot inside so we moved to sit on the tables outside, just to have two employees come out for their smoke break and have to deal with the wind blowing the smoke directly into the faces of my family. Unfortunate, after all of these year to have to scratch Rocket Bakery off our “must do” list.
It has a spacious seating area with an eclectic variety of tables. I had a cappuccino and almond croissant and my friend had a cappuccino and flakey raspberry pastry. The cappuccinos were okay. My almond croissant was mostly a dry croissant with almost no almond filling - rather unusual for almond croissants. The flakey pastry was doughy on the bottom and not flakey on top. A rather expensive diversion at almost $25 with tip.
Enjoyed the decor of the place. The funky older style works well with everything being served. I had tried their house coffee, and it was pretty nice. I had a blueberry scone, and it had a nice balance of crisp and soft textures. I only wished there were more blueberries. We were going to try a pumpkin flakey as pumpkin is my favourite. Unfortunately, they didn't change their sign, and it was another flavour :/ So I noticed the day olds and was told there was a pumpkin. So I bought them only to find out it was blueberry as well :/ So I had a few hiccups here and another not worth mentioning. Overall the food looks good, the atmosphere is excellent, and little issues can be overlooked. Give them a try; I’m sure you’ll enjoy them!
My favorite place to go when having a rough day. Friendly staff and great food. Highly recommend! Also everyone needs to try the raspberry flakie, cheesecake, the Almond croissants and cappuccino
Great place to sit and read.
I was surprised at how good they did with this space considering the building itself isnt much to look at, but they really built a cozy space here that reminded me of the original Rocket Bakery in Downtown St. Johns. I wasnt sure what to expect but I was really impressed. Would definitely recommend it amd go again.

A fun place to grab a bite to eat. A bit pricey for the type of place. The soup was cold and when asked to have it warmed, it came back lukewarm. The crab cake was mediocre.

I really wanted to like this place. My experience here however was awful. I tried to order a Cuban but they didnt have it for some reason, thats fine. I ended up getting a hot chocolate and a ham & Swiss, while the rest of my group got grilled cheeses and vanilla lattes. The grilled cheese wasnt grilled, the cheese wasnt melted at all and the bread was soggy. The ham and Swiss has no flavour aside from the jam put on it. Not sure if that was supposed to be toasted because it definitely wasnt. I was given a matcha instead of the hot chocolate and the grumpy person behind the counter tried to fight us on it? Then they complained that it was going to take time to make a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate tasted like chalky as it wasnt mixed properly. The regular sized vanilla lattes tasted like they filled it up with majority water and left out the vanilla. I would definitely steer clear of this location, hopefully the other ones are better.

Excellent cup of tea paired with a very delicious bread pudding slice. Kelly gave us two forks but thankfully my Mum was busy enjoying her flaky and I didn t have to share!!

Great coffee and food,with friendly service is a wonderful place to relax. The carrot cake whoopee pie is a personal favourite.

Extremely expensive
Had a chicken club wrap and a coffee for lunch. Service was fantastic as soon as I went in the door. The atmosphere was great as well. The chicken club wrap was one of the best I ve ever had. Will definitely drop in for lunch again! And coffee when I m in the area.

My first visit here. It honestly was a quaint relaxed place. The coffee was really good. Amazing flavor! The chocolate croissant was huge! Very filling. Overall, really enjoyed my visit here, and I plan on returning to try more from their menu.

Absolutely delightful! Melt in mouth coissants, great lunches, soothing cuppas in swimmingly wide and whimsical humpty dumpty cups, and amazing staff in an artsy decor. A little piece of heaven in beautiful Mount Pearl!
Blueberries scone was very fresh and tasty, coffee not bad, I would say. I would pay more attention to the cleaning in common areas.

Every time I go to Rocket Bakery, regardless of the location, it is impossible to buy white bread. I have tried several times over the course of 2-3 years and I have literally never been successful. Im sure whatever else they offer is great, but if youre looking for fresh white bread, this is NOT the place youll find it.

Great atmosphere
Rocket has quickly become my favourite place to go for a coffee. There s tons of parking in the area, the coffee is excellent, the service is always very friendly and of course the bakery always has a few good snacks on hand. Great place if you re in the Mount Pearl area, and if you work on the run as they do have free Wi-Fi as well. Highly recommended.

Fresh food, delicious coffee, friendly staff. This is not a fast food place so dont expect fast food prices. You pay for the quality and care that goes into everything they offer. I will support this business as much as I can! Lots of tables inside so it a great place for a small group 4-5 people or tables of 2. They have a few times available outside when the weather is nice and when you place your order they will bring your order to your table.

Hands down one of the best eateries in the town!! Rocket bakery has a lovely vintage vibe and they serve some great food and wonderful coffee. My husband and I both loved everything we tried, especially the sausage roll and BBQ pork roll!!

Great alternative to the downtown location, if its possible we believe this local to be even better. Friendly service, food that wont disappoint, we had the breakfast sandwich on baskets as opposed to croissants YUM.

Super cappuccino and scone
Every time Ive gone to this location theyve messed up my order, gave me the wrong soup one time and left items out of the bag another time. The last time I went, I ordered a large coffee to go, and when I finished it I discovered they had double cupped it with a smaller cup on the inside, so Id really only gotten a medium! Not impressed, and wont go back again.

The rocket bakery is one of my favorite coffee shops in the area. Amazing sweets, amazing lunch options and theres a great atmosphere. Very chill! Would certainly reccomend to anyone looking for a coffee shop.

I like the layout of this location over the one downtown. Both had great service and fantastic food.
The service was impeccable!! Never had to ask for a thing, they knew what was needed and gave before asking. Very friendly helpful and patient as it was our first time there. Food was delicious and even though the whole menu wasnt available still a variety to choose. Will definitely be back!!
