I am from out of town and stopped in for breakfast after an appointment. I m glad I stopped. Yummy greasy spoon food, great service and they accommodated all the special needs of this picky eater. Clean and while I didn t have my child with me this time, I won t hesitate to bring him next time.

I recently had breakfast at Tania s in Nanaimo, and it was fantastic! I ordered the traditional breakfast and chose the sausage option. The sausage was unique and delicious, sourced from a local farmer, and it was so much better than the bacon and ham my friend ordered. The pancakes were also amazing fluffy and perfectly cooked. Our server was energetic, fast, and incredibly friendly, which made the experience even better. I highly recommend Tania s for a hearty and satisfying breakfast in Nanaimo.

We got seated quickly however the food was incredibly bland and took a while to arrive. The service was bad we were rudefully rushed out of the restaurant due to another reservation that had yet to arrive. The atmosphere was not splendid and I felt as if dirt was around me. If you want a better experience in Nanimo go to Dennys.

We were at Tanias on September 9, 2024. Our previous experiences had been excellent. On this day we were not happy with the food. First of all we waited 45 minutes for our order. I had the BLT and the bacon was overcooked, I could barely chew the bacon. My husband ordered eggs beni. The sauce was a cheese sauce and not an hollandaise sauce. It was just awful. The coffee tasted like dishwater. Not sure what has happened to this restaurant, but not sure we would go again. On a side note our server was excellent and advised us they had a new cook. I would suggest that this cook go back to school!!

Server was nice and attentive. Polite and friendly. The food was average in my opinion but my husband really liked his breakfast bowl . The atmosphere was not too loud and it was clean.

Vegetarian options: Veggie omelette is amazing Meat lovers will fill you up for the whole day and amazing. Food : 5/5

Tania s is amazing! It was my partner and I s first time going and we were blown away. The portion sizes were great, especially for the price, the food was tasty, and the staff were beyond helpful and friendly. Will be returning whenever we are in town!

We visited Tanias for lunch--6 adults, a toddler, and a baby. Tables were quickly shifted to create a space for us and we couldnt have had more amazing service than Laurie provided for us today. The food was good--I had the roast beef melt accompanied by very good homemade chicken soup--and the two folks in our group who cant eat gluten gave positive reviews on their bread. But Laurie made the experience special--she was great with the little ones and was there with what we needed before we even had time to mention it. Would definitely return when Im back in Nanaimo! Fresh made in house food. Fresh cut fries and homemade gravy. The best bun on my burger, lightly griddled with garlic butter. Burger was juicy, smash style, loved every bite, delicious. Waitress was very good. Always there with coffee and water refills, let us know the progress of the food. She was great. I will be back next time im in town.

Called to place a take out order & the lady was very rude saying we aren t doing pick up orders. I was excited to try the food as I hear how good it is but after seeing how rude the staff are I won t be going.

NEVER WILL GO AGAIN.. Busy spot, asked to wait, no problem. Problem started when the hostess brought people from outside and seated them before us and another couple.. Telling us we were next, that they were there ahead of us. Really??? Guess you need to know someone to get seated there.

Tanias has become my favourite breakfast restaurant in the area. The food is great and the service is fantastic (even when they are very busy). The prices are reasonable. I eat at Tanias WAY too often!!

Service was a little slow but the new waitress that was helping around the tables was very friendly and attentive. The food is very good and the portions are huge. It is a really great place to come and get breakfast when you are on the road. Tanias is a staple in Nanaimo and has been going strong for years. Great reputation and would recommend going here.

Tania s is a reliably good independent restaurant. Their burger patties are made on site, and the burger buns are human-sized not downsized. The staff are friendly and service is fast. Has been a local mainstay.

The food could have been hotter (eggs Benny) and the server could have been more attentive

Used to be fantastic, last time I was here the waffle was like a hockey puck and the side plate was bacon, potatoes and an egg slapped together. Not what you d expect for the money spent!

The biggest pancakes Ive ever been served in my life, and tasty too! Staff are super friendly, highly reccomend popping in if youre in the mood for a huge brunch.

I love Tanyas, the best place in town, but today was very disappointing in the staff I got in there was three people behind me, they never ever even came to my table. Not even to serve me a coffee. I sat there for 1/2 hour, watching them, serve the people behind me, the time was 1030 December 30. The waitress even looked at me a couple of times, knowing I had no utensils or coffee in front of me. I really thought she was going to finally come to my table but that never happened so unfortunately I got up and I said to the waitress that was booking people in that I guess, I must be invisible,

Everyone here has been so friendly, and the service is generally VERY quick. Great pancakes and breakfasts. It just has so much local charm.

Always an awesome experience

Months ago we took a family member here for breakfast before we had to drive them to the airport, and the food and service was awesome. Our family member enjoyed it so much, they wanted to get up extra early so we could all go for breakfast again today (July 12) before they had to fly back home. Great and friendly service, fresh and hot breakfasts for us. Its always nice to get your eggs exactly as ordered whether its poached, sunny side up etc. Thanks again! They serve a great home cooked breakfast and the service is excellent. The food was so good I forgot to get a photo. After we arrived they ran out Hollandaise sauce and hash browns so you know their food is fresh!

Definitely recommend the Meat lovers omelet has full bacon and sausage chunks of ham and cheese put some hot sauce on it and that is absolutely delicious. Kid-friendliness: Definitely a amazing atmosphere have ran into tones of friends and workers always are in a great mood.

Food was ok. I didn t like how a staff treated a homeless guy who was asking for water or to use the washroom. She was plain rude and yelled at the old homeless guy. It made me lose mu appetite because being kind wouldn t cost you anything. She screamed at the nice dude who asked to use the washroom and even threatened to call the police. Told my partner not to leave a tip. Parking: Parking is just in-front of the restaurant.

Great place to meet with friends for breakfast. The mini breakfast is a great deal with your choice for eggs, meat and bread.

I love their tuna melts. Their staff can be abrasive and rude at times, though. On one occasion extremely rude, calling my dad crazy for suggesting their bread from a local bakery was sliced to a different thickness (it was). Extremely rude. Also brushing us off for other complaints, like raw eggs in a breakfast meal. Scrambled eggs that were hardly cooked. Awful, and it took some arm twisting to get it fixed. Love the tuna melts. But its almost not worth going back with how rude the staff have been on several occasions to who used to be regulars. Edit: I was messaged by one of the staff, and they told me they had resolved everything and invited my dad back for a free lunch, which was very nice. I came back today, but unfortunately was given food that was lukewarm. Certainly used to be a favourite spot, and Im sure some of their food is good, but I dont think its for me anymore.

Have you ever had a hankering for something, then the plates get put down and you think... Yeah... Thats the ticket! That was my experience today. I had asked our electrician for a recommendation of a good breakfast place and he sent us to Tanias. Man, am I grateful! Everything was exactly what I wanted. Prices looked steep... But the dining was more than worth it! Local, unpretentious, friendly... Im still full for hours later! It was awesome... This is my new GOTO breakfast Spot in Nanaimo.

This is a little hidden place but everything fresh potatoes, eggs, coffee the price are good love coming here for breakfast. Fries are homade for you connoisseurs lol you will not be dissapointted service is excellent.

I love the staff and the food at Tanias! We were recommended here by a guy working on our electrical and wow, what a great rec! Twice coming here now and they surprised my wife with a birthday candle (and cookie!), Kept our coffees full, fed us, and made us feel welcome. Great ambassadors for the city of Nanaimo - send visitors and newcomers here! Seriously though... The food and service are exceptional, and while the menu price might seem steep, once youve eaten youll likely agree it was well worth it! My vote for Best breakfast in the city!

Insanely long wait to get food, 2 tables who came in later served before. Finally served but it was the wrong meal (some sort of sandwich). Then finally got meal (breakfast special) but sunny side eggs were overeasy and overcooked. Thankfully, meal was free (gave 2 stars instead of 1 for this reason). Service can definitely be improved.

I ve been here a few times over the years, ya the food is greasy, deep fried sausages and old potatoes for hasbrowns, it was always a last choice kinda place if we were busy and quickly had to eat something as the food usually comes out quite quickly and could usually rely on eggs and toast. Except for today . Today was a very different experience. The place is filthy, filthier than usual, the server / bus girl couldn t keep her pants up and had to constantly pull them up and while delivering our food twice she had her grimy thumbs in my food. This girl was very unhygienic and it s clear to me that there is no food safe and handling education. This place really needs to smarten up, the food has really gone down hill too. We ordered scrambled eggs and it came as a very over cooked omelette, Strange ? Medium plus poached eggs were runny . I don t think the waiting staff and cooks know what the differences are between these dishes. Not sure if I ll be back.

This place was great. Old school diner serving some awesome breakfast dishes. One of the only places open early for breakfast. The breakfast bowl was awesome. So much so, that we went back the next day and ordered the same thing again.

This is the place. The place that reminds you of a small town short order joint, where its not expensive, food arrives quickly, and is tasty. Its sort of half greasy spoon, half dinner. But its right up my alley.

I got the Denver omelet and my friend got eggs benny with a side of sausage. Omelet was tasty, big portions and the potatoes were done nicely. Eggs benny was good and the sausages were fantastic.

Best Breakfast in all of Nanaimo. I first posted this review quite a while back, and the only thing that has changed is that I love it all the more. Try the eggs over-easy with sausage and sourdough toast! All the love to Bob and Ashley, and everyone that helps make this the best breakfast spot in Nanaimo!

Food was perfect for an All Day Breakfast place, coffee was on point for diner vibes. Cost was good, service was attentive. My favorite part was the old style booths that reminded me of resturaunts when I was a kid, and the tiny jams in the metal basket thingy. :)
