Very friendly staff that have gone above and beyond their expectations several times now!

The best chinese food in Nanaimo. It isnt loaded down with junk. Just good food. Great interior, always clean, the washrooms are very clean too.

We go as often as we can. Service is awesome, food is delicious.

The waitresses are great there. Especially Chloe and Amber.

Ordered the Wor Wonton last night to share with my sister. Little different than what were used to as it doesnt come with cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and just two pieces of shrimp. The broth is what really saved it and is why Im giving 4 stars. Service was great, and took the feedback very well! Also had the two piece spring rolls and those were tasty.

Dont let the fancy interior fool you, the food is just okay if that, we ordered the ginger chicken and it was all onions and a couple pieces of chicken, sure it comes out fast but very expensive and no flavor, poor customer service as well, Da Tang is much better, really any Chinese place is better, i call this place Golden Ghetto

The food and service is amazing! Im blown away how good the Peking duck was. Dont sleep on the 3 course soup version either. Beef Chow fun was delicious as was the beef brisket hot pot. Rivals Vancouver quality.

Chicken wings bloody. Sweet sour pork grisly. Chicken chow sprouts not much noodles. Complained still have to pay. Bad suppliers.

Others have and continue to have greater success and their reviews seem to be genuine. Although we were a mixed group, it seemed that we were being given the gweilo treatment. Hopefully, they will continue to strive to do better and their efforts will be met with success. The evening we visited, however, which was some time but prior to the pandemic...: amongst the worst meals Ive had in decades. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken which had to be returned because the cook forgot to add any chicken what-so-ever. The cook (owner?) brought back the dish himself which did include some chicken the second time around. We pointed out that neither was there any chicken in the chicken chow mein. He accused us of eating all the chicken whilst looking right at the dish which was only half eaten and the toppings on the uneaten portion still intact. In retrospect, it was no surprise that the restaurant was nearly empty that Saturday evening.

Most authentic decor in Nanaimo makes the standard fair on the menu worth while. But you gotta dine in to appreciate it. Live a little!

The staff are friendly and helpful. It was very quiet when I was there, just a few groups. The servings are very generous.

A classic and still great.

We ordered dinner and it took them three hours to deliver. We called several times and the owner apologized profusely and offered a discount next time. We called today to place an order and were told they would not deliver to our address because of what happened last time. We are located 15 minutes away from them. Never going back there again.

The sevice was very good, but the food was tasteless and all dishes had very little meat.

Buffet not offered. Service was good. Spring rolls were good. The rest of the food was terrible. Special chow mein was a pale, mushy dish with a thin tasteless sauce. The beef and broccoli was covered with the same tasteless sauce. The chicken hot pot was literally a pot of mushy onions. All of the dishes contained very little meat. Easily the worst Chinese food Ive eaten, definitely not going back.

Worst Chinese i have ever had, was so looking forward to go out with the family and was very disappointed $120 worth of gross food. Beef lettuce no idea it was that considering you couldnt find the beef. I could go on but never again will i go back

Not only the waitresses but also the owner was very nice and friendly. The table and washroom were perfectly clean. The food was also really good. Make sure to bring more than 1 person with you to share the good food!

We ordered takeout and it was excellent. Customer service was also excellent. Thought the decor was awesome, were going to dine in next time. (Saturday looks like a great night )

Peking duck was legit!!

First and probably last time I ll eat here. Although service was great, me and my friend who came here both got food poisoning. We both ended up puking later on, and feeling extremely unwell. I suspect proper food safe isn t being followed as other reviews as we read after have stated it tastes as if it s being recooked etc. UPDATE: My friend ended up in ER due to food poisoning from here.

Just ordered the girl asked for my appt. 3 times, she seemed drunk. Have ordered from them before and have had good and very bad experiences. This will be the last time I order from them. Very bad at customer service. Food not bad but service isnt worth it. Go to Dover Chinese way better.

Food was somewhat edible. Buffet options very limited. Was not worth (around) $16 we paid per person. I would not recommend this place for Chinese food or just as a dining place to go. Nope.

Food is always good and the service is next to none

This place has the best ginger beef in town. I literally drive from Cinnabar Valley to go here, over 20 minutes, just to pick up the ginger beef. We have also come here for work parties and they are very accommodating to large groups for buffet.

Fantastic dinner with my family at the Golden Inn. Food was amazing and the decor is so traditional. I love it.

So impressed. We had take out this evening, the phone service was fantastic while placing our order. We were able to order an item that wasn t necessarily on the menu and they made it for us with no hesitation and no additional costs. Our food was ready when they said it would be ready and was hot and fresh and absolutely delicious. My new go to for sure.

Went there with my Wife, Buffet was closing down so ordered from the menu, Chow-mein was greasy, Wonton Soup was bland, sweet and sour port was over cooked and over saused, and the worst Breaded Almond Chicken Ive had to date (half inch thick chicken covered in 1inch of under fried batter.) Service was meh, and atmosphere was dated. Table Cleaning wittnessed was poor. In short youll need to pay me to return.

Ordered a dinner for 4 and dry garlic spareribs for delivery tonight, based off the pricing on their website (which we have done many times). After my order was taken, I was not given a grand total, but calculated it should of been $68.10 with tax. When our delivery arrived (cold, btw) we were told the the total was $83.90!!! When asked about the discrepancy we were told oh we put up our prices a month ago . When I called the restaurant back, was basically told too bad so sad, the website can t be updated due to COVID. We also found small chicken bones in our fried rice and was somewhat laughed at by the girl on the phone when I told her. It s not the $16 difference in cost, but the lack of customer service. If the price from the website can t be honoured, don t have a website! Or at least offer to refund our rice which was inedible. Will never be ordering from here again and I encourage others to order elsewhere too!!!

Mostly Good! We had a family of 9 without any reservation. Initially most of us wanted the smorg but there were a number of the food pans empty. I was a bit disappointed from this but then we decided to order. We all ordered a dish and all of us were very pleased with the meals that we had. Especially my daughter who is a pescatarian. The waitress who was our main server was extremely helpful. I recommend ordering and not the smorg.

Back when I was about 11-12 years old, I picked up a paper route, and on that route, there was a chinese resteraunt. occasionally, I would come in with my parents, and eat my fill of fried rice. the resteraunt was in Lander Wyoming. Now, half a continent away, Im 19, a working adult, with my own paychecks and insurance and yadda yadda, I get one taste of Golden Inns Fried Rice, and Im instantly back home. memories of delivering newspapers, fooling around with friends, it all comes flooding back in the scoop of a spoon. TL;DR Good fried rice reminds me of my childhood. 10/10

Truly the best quality and tasting food , smorg isnt biggest but all you need and great seafood dishes. Atmosphere feels like your in authentic Chinese establishment. Simply the best

Best Chinese Food Ive had on Vancouver Island

Better than most Chinese food I have had. And super customer service. I would drive across town for the buffet. Delicately battered prawns and flavorful veggies. Flavorful everything. Mmmmmm delish!

Had a wonderful dinner with my Dad tonight. The service was great! Very friendly and welcoming. My Dad is a regular and they know him by name. He has always said this is the best restaurant for Chinese food, and hes right. You cant beat them. Food is always fresh, hot and fast to the table. Thank you Im sure we will be back!!

Phoned to ask if place was busy and if buffet was loaded with food. Was told not busy and full buffet. Get there. Theres no parking and next to no food. Not impressed.

Just coming out from the Ferry and looking for a place for lunch. We thought of getting the buffet but it was a little bit late for it, our server suggested a dinner combination, which was yummy and very cheap($12.95) for the two of us. Great decor and ambiance. The service was remarkable, very friendly

Friendly staff, but the buffet had very few options and the food was bland and disapointing. The dessert options seemed pretty depressing and the ice cream had a weird texture. I wouldnt recommend the food here, at least from the buffet.

We went there for the buffet around 1830-ish. The food was stale and flavorless. The sweet and sour pork and ginger beer was inedible to me. I wont be going back.

The food was good but it was to expensive for what was available. Part of a good buffet is dessert and their options were very minimal.

Very good smorgasbord..They do not use a lot of spice to reduce coñsumptiòn of prawns. I really eñjoy their curry sauce.

Please Read!!! So this is two parts. My parents, wife and I stopped to try it out. The service was awsum very attentive girls. However the food sucked. I really wanted it to be better. I love chinese food and i was disapointed. Some of the things on the buffet should not be there to take up room that are not dishes. This shows the customer that the restaurant is too cheap to put out the required dishes. If you want to be busy give great dishes with proper variety. Again reasonable expectations were not met. Now if this had have been later on in the evening i could see it. However we the first ones to the buffet. There is a reason why it is slow there. The desert bar is a misarable attempt. I would remove it or give some variety. Empty ice cream bins and 10 nanaimo bars on a plate with a handful of cubed jello spells cheap. 4 of us ate it was 70 and change. So by being cheap other than the service would be the reason to not brother coming back. Food quailty was also not there eaither. Smarten up guys. You can do better than this seriously. I have been to three chinese buffets in Nanaimo and 1 was good. This one is 3rd. Sad

The only restaurant in Naimo, Vancouver Island that can serve group meals. The restaurant is decorated in a very antique style, looking like an old Chinese restaurant. I like its hot and sour soup, which is sour and hot, but not spicy.

Yummy Canadian-style Chinese food with fun decor. This cinder-block building is very different on the inside, completely decorated in a theatrical Chinese style, complete with dragons and wall paintings. Kids love the buffet with both conventional and trendy choices. Staff and friendly and helpful. Easy parking and access from the highway. Very reasonably-priced, and they have been kind enough to customize dishes to be vegetarian for us. We go anytime we have a craving!

Food was over priced and it wasnt that great. My boyfriend almost broke a tooth biting into his sweet and sour pork, we had to send it back.

The only Chinese Food Restaurant we will eat at / order from in Nanaimo. . Take out is always hot, and the orders are HUGE . . Only issue is: Wheres The Fortune Cookies with Take Out ?? (They will include them, if you ask). Lived in Vancouver for years, and the food here is comparable to most of the Chinatown Restaurants . . A must try, is the Chinese Style Sweet & Sour Pork !!!! Cheers !!!!

The buffet is something youd recognize from any town in Canada. Whether thats good or bad is up to you. If that doesnt work for you then the menu offers a great variety of choices and the staff is always friendly and attentive. You should go once just for the classic Chinese restaurant decor. Every TV/Film location manager should have this place in their Rolodex.

Food had a very large amount of batter around everything. Was very disgusting. They also charged us 13$ for 6 cans of pop, thats criminal. Very poor overpriced food.

The food is good and always hot on delivery or pick-up. It is easy to tell they do NOT take delivery or pick up orders from the buffet ... it is made fresh! Always friendly service. One tip to the owner would be to have packaged fortune cookies rather than loose in a bowl ... healthier that way. AND.... how about sending some cookies with delivery and pick-up orders.
